Fate, Time and Spinning Wheels
We all know about how changes in fate and time are themes in Yashahime. But there was also a VERY interesting conversation on the topic in the OG that they might be referencing in YH.
Here, Naraku is talking to Kikyo right after coming out of Mt Hakurei
A spinning wheel of fate, you say? Which spins and weaves a red thread?
Haven’t we seen THAT exact same visual in Yashahime? Yes, we have
The red threads are everywhere in Yashahime. They’re in the windmill of time, in the twins’ hair
And even in this new advertisement
In the original series, this is Kikyo’s view on fate and destiny, from that same conversation.
Which Treekyo seems to have inherited, since the tree wants to maintain fate as it should have been, even if it takes eliminating Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru, those who are actively trying to interfere with time for their own purposes.
Meanwhile, this is what Naraku has to say about fate and destiny.
While Kikyo believes that fate cannot be changed, Naraku believes that the strong are able to make their own fate. This is the approach that Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru seem to be taking, using their POWER, their STRENGTH as demons to literally alter time and fate.
In the newest episode, episode 25, we also have a similar speech from Towa, on the topic of strength and weakness. Like her uncle Inuyasha before her, one of Towa’s goals is to protect those that matter to her.
But it also has to do with fate. Here, Towa falls into despair because she believes that she cannot change Setsuna’s fate (to die), and she wasn’t even able to avenge her death. However, Towa is given a tool that allows her to change Setsuna’s fate and resurrect her. Therefore, Towa has been able to surpass Sesshomaru as he was in the original. When Sesshomaru was faced with Kagura’s fate, he tried to avert it using Tenseiga, but he was unable to use the sword on Kagura due to her body dissolving as she died. Tenseiga needs an intact body to work on, and Kagura didn’t leave one behind.
This time, Tenseiga cannot work normally either, not because Setsuna’s body is too damaged, but because the blade is broken. However, Towa is able to use a power THAT SESSHOMARU DOESN’T HAVE: Her ability to make energy blades, in order to use the broken Tenseiga to successfully revive Setsuna.
And at that point we can clearly see that th twins absolutely have demonic powers that they didn’t inherit from Sesshomaru. Because Sesshomaru ABSOLUTELY CANNOT USE ENERGY BLADES. He’s unable to use the broken Tenseiga to save Setsuna. Towa using her energy blade to make Tenseiga work is not a test, it’s a last resort. So if she didn’t inherit this power (energy blades) from her father’s side of the family, she must have inherited from her mother’s side. Rin didn’t have any powers of her own, being a normal and untrained human girl without any power of her own, but Kagura’s brother, Byakuya, could create energy blades. Therefore, it makes sense for Towa to inherit the ability to create energy blades from her mother’s side if her mother is Kagura, which would make Byakuya her uncle on her mother’s side.
So, regarding FATE, we are being given different perspectives and viewpoints:
Kikyo, who believes that fate is unchanging
Naraku, who believes that fate can be altered if you have enough power
Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru, two great demons who have altered the timeline, causing many paradoxes and anomalies to sprung forth.
Towa, one of the anomalies created by Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru’s altered timeline, who combines several viewpoints regarding fate. At the beginning, she starts out like Kikyo, believing fate to be UNCHANGING, that there is nothing she can do to save Setsuna. However, when given A TOOL that would allow her to revert Setsuna’s fate and bring her back to life, Towa takes that change and she is able TO USE HER OWN POWER in order to succeed.
Another point regarding the theme of FATE in Yashahime is severing fate, which is probably going to be relevant regarding Zero’s curses, which tie her own lifeforce to her tagets’. This episode has tied it to Setsuna’s blood blade
And talking about time and fate, in YH, the Tree of Ages is another big symbol of those concepts. And, like the Shikon Jewel before it, it has acquired a light side and a dark side. On one side, we have Treekyo, the spirit of the tree that has taken on Kikyo’s visage
On the other, we have Roothead, the demonic parasite
That looked like Onigumo did after being burned.
However, Treekyo is looking rather threatening in the latest trailers
But she’s been subtly menacing before, too
And we should remember one important rule about Kikyo. In the original, the real Kikyo was never a villain. However, THE ONE WHO WASN’T KIKYO, BUT TOOK HER VISAGE, definitely was one.
Treekyo may have taken on Kikyo’s appearance, but IT’S NOT THE REAL KIKYO. And the last time someone else took on Kikyo’s face, it was Naraku in his plot against Inuyasha and Kikyo to take the jewel for himself.
Something is definitely going to happen with the tree and its spirits in S2, and Treekyo may not be as benevolent as she made herself look like. Because it was never the real Kikyo to begin with. She may not even have to be “evil” per se, just completely dedicating to her goal of preserving the Tree of Ages and fate without caring for factors such as the continued survival of paradoxical existences that would never have existed if it hadn’t ben for Kirinmaru’s and Sesshomaru’s intereference.

SETSUNA'S MOTH POWER IS THE SOURCE OF RIN'S SLEEP
EP 3 Reveals Setsuna's MOON OF THE RESTING MOTH
This is an ability that allows Setsuna to command a flurry of moths to disperse sleeping spores to its victims.
EP20 Confirmed that the weapon Setsuna obtained after defeating Gaga Gozen ( A moth demon ) was forged by humans . This means that the MOON OF THE RESTING MOTH is an inherited power of Setsuna and NOT from the weapon itself. Both Setsuna and Towa's original weapons were human made.
EP8 Towa views a memory from the POV of The Dream Butterfly. Here we see the butterfly retrieve 'sleep' from Setsuna. However, the yellow sparkles given to Rin by The Dream butterfly match the yellow sparkles from Setsuna's MOON OF THE RESTING MOTH
OP3 Reveals flurries of light bursting from Setsuna to Rin. Upon a closer look, it's clear that the burst of light is in-fact flurries of white moths from Setsuna's MOON OF THE RESTING MOTH which induces sleep. Also, the visual confirms that this MOTH DEMON power comes from within Setsuna and not her weapon.

Inherited powers part 3: Towa’s absorbtion powers, Setsuna’s blood blade
Towa's absorbtion powers:
Power absorption, specifically the absorption of demonic powers, is not a common ability in Inuyasha. In the OG series, it was, however, a staple of Naraku, who used it to increase his own demonic power as well as to alter and strengthen his body.
We could say that the difference between Naraku's power absorption and Towa's is that Naraku absorbed the whole demon, both power and body, while Towa only drains their powers to take them for herself. That, however, IS ONLY ACCURATE FOR PRE-MOUNT HAKUREI NARAKU.
We have to remember that Naraku got a giant power-up after he remade his body in Mt Hakurei. He gained two new abilities that he used immediately afterwards in his fight against Inuyasha inside the mountain and against Kikyo and Sesshomaru outside of it.
The first one was a modified barrier which allowed him to ABSORB AND REFLECT DEMNONIC ENERGY ATTACKS, much like Kanna's mirror.
Here, we can see him using it on Sesshomaru's energy attacks:
1. He gets hit
2. ABSORBS THE ENERGY into his barrier
3. AND THROWS SESSHOMARU'S ATTACK RIGHT BACK AT HIM
Now, let's remember Towa vs Kirinmaru
1. Towa announces that she intends to drain and absorb Kirinmaru's demonic energy.
2. In order to do this, she gets hit by his energy attack on purpose, much like Naraku did against Sesshomaru
3. She starts to absorb the attack's power.
4. But she cannot handle that much power and cracks, with the energy escaping her.
She's doing the same thing as Naraku, but she failed to absorb the energy and return it as an attack for two reasons:
1. Naraku absorbed the attack into his defensive barrier, not directly into his body.
2 . Naraku can regenerate. If we look at him here:
We can see that he got wrecked BECAUSE HE GOT HIT BEFORE HE RAISED A BARRIER. And while Towa can make that exact same barrier, without using a demonic weapon, just her own innate power ...
She didn't raise it when she tried to absorb Kirinmaru's power, so the attack hit her full force. And she cannot regenerate the way Naraku did. Not to mention, that Naraku absorbed the attack, and then reflected it back, while Towa tried to absorb all the energy into herself at once.
Also, another thing is that Naraku's ability works on DEMONIC ENERGY ONLY. Kagome's arrow hit his barrier, and not only wasn't it reflected, she managed to release Koga, who was trapped inside.
So, Towa's absorption works exactly the same as Naraku's. It works on demonic energy exclusively (not spiritual powers), but Naraku's version is more effective because he combines the power absorption with his barrier and regeneration, and he's also able to return the enemy's attack back to him. We should pay attention to how Towa's ability to absorb demonic energy evolves in S2, because if she combines it with her barrier and manages to return the attack back at the enemy, that's something she absolutely got from Grandpa Naraku.
So, I did say that Naraku got TWO new powers after MT Hakurei, which we can now see in Towa and Setsuna. The first one was his absorbtion-barrier-reflection technique. The second one ... is a shapeshifting bone blade. And my, doesn't Setsuna's blood blade look familiar after watching Naraku use his own.
1. The very first thing, is that Setsuna's blood blade and Naraku's bone blade are a body modification on their right arm. Naraku's comes from his gauntlet, while Setsuna has hers on her skin.
They were even in the same pose when showing it off, and Setsuna's blood blade reaches the back of her hand, which is reminiscent of that demonic “eye” thing on the back of Naraku's hand. Another detail is that this is a body modification that Setsuna got during her full demon transformation
Which even came with, yes, spikes on her forearms. This is not a dog demon trait, and neither Sesshomaru nor Inuyasha have EVER grown spikes on their arms. Another way it differs from Inuyasha's transformation
Is that Inuyasha loses all of his “improved” demonic attributes once the transformation stops. He doesn't keep the longer and stronger claws and fangs, or the additional strength or speed. However, Setsuna's blood blade remains on her arm even after her transformation fades, which means it's SHAPESHIFTING in nature, a permanent body modification.
And this is just how it looks. If we see how the blades work, well, this is Setsuna using her blade
And here we have Naraku using his own
This is Setsuna attacking Zero with it
This is Naraku attacking Kikyo
Zero being struck by Setsuna
Kikyo being struck by Naraku
It's the same arm, the same spikes, the same attack, the same wound. This is not just having somewhat similar generic demonic abilities, not only do Towa and Setsuna have the exact same abilities Naraku got after his power up in Mt Hakurei, but they also use them the same way. THIS IS A DIRECT CALLBACK.
What's the difference between Towa vs Kirinmaru and Naraku vs Sesshomaru? That Towa failed to combine her energy absorption with a barrier and couldn't return the attack back at Kirinmaru.
What's the difference between Setsuna vs Zero and Naraku vs Kikyo?
That the wound Zero and Kikyo received is on the opposide side. Both Zero and Kikyo “died” here, but Zero was immediately revived and Kikyo was revealed to have survived this encounter. Not only it's the same kind of attack, but it's even the same situation.
Oh, and as a bonus:
Naraku's bone blade + shapeshifting
Setsuna's Scourge of Swallows
Naraku coming out of Mt Hakurei with his new, more demonic form, and Towa's first full demon transformation
It's also interesting to point out that the twins got THESE powers (barriers, shapeshifting blood blade) after a full demon transformation.
And what is that Naraku did in Mt Hakurei? A full demon trasnformation, because he literally got rid of his human heart there.

INHERITED POWERS: DOG DEMON EDITION
Since Towa and Setsuna have powers that don’t match with their supposed dog demon-human heritage, it’s useful to analyze which powers actually do come from their dog demon side and from which source.
And the easiest way to do that is to start with Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. As Inuyasha is a 50/50 dog-demon/human hybrid, he only has one demonic parent, Touga, to compare with Sesshomaru’s two (Touga and Inukimi)
And the big difference between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s powers is their innate claw attacks. Inuyasha has Iron Reaver Soul Stealer and Blood Blades, while Sesshomaru has Poison Claws and Energy Whip.
So, since neither Inuyasha nor Moroha have inherited Poison Claws or Energy Whip, and have instead inherited Iron Reaver and Blood Blades, we can conclude that those attacks come strictly from Touga’s bloodline, and that Touga didn’t have Poison Claws or Energy Whip. It can also be noticed that while Inuyasha has more resistance to poison than a regular human, Sesshomaru is completely immune to both Naraku’s miasma and Mukotsu’s anti-demon poisons.
So, what are Inukimi’s innate attacks? Given that Sesshomaru and Setsuna both have poison claws and the ability to maipulate them into shapes (whip for Sesshomaru, Scourge of Swallows for Setsuna), it’s pretty clear that THOSE innate powers come strictly from Inukimi.
So regarding claw attacks:
1. Moroha:
Inherited Iron reaver and Blood Blades from Inuyasha, who inherited those from Touga.
2. Setsuna:
Inherited poison claws from Sesshomaru and Blood Blades from Touga.
3. Towa:
Tellingly, Towa hasn’t inherited any dog demon claw attacks. At most, she can shape her blue demonic energy into a clawed form, but we all know that what Towa’s power does is ENERGY ABSORBTION, which doesn’t come from any dog demon, but was a staple of Naraku.
Continue reading for Toga and Inukimi’s inheritance
TOGA’S HERITAGE
1. Golden eyes Inherited by Sesshomaru (from both him and Inukimi), Inuyasha (half demon form) and his graddaughter Moroha (Beniyasha form)
2. Jagged purple cheek markings
Inherited by Inuyasha (full demon form) and Moroha (Beniyasha form)
Towa and Setsuna inherit the jagged shape, but they get the colour from Sesshomaru and Inukimi.
3. White hair (straight)
Inherited by Inuyasha (half-demon and full demon forms) and Towa (half-demon and full demon forms)
4. Iron Reaver Soul Stealer
Inherited by Inuyasha and Moroha
5. Blades of Blood
Inherited by Inuyasha (inherited directly) , Moroha (inherited directly) and Setsuna (fusion attack that combines blood blades with shapeshifting)
INUKIMI’S HERITAGE
1. Golden eyes
Inherited by Sesshomaru, but not by Towa or Setsuna in any of their forms.
Instead, Towa has red eyes in her half demon form, pupilless red eyes in her full demon form, and reddish-brown eyes in her human form. This eye colour isn’t human in nature and points to a second demonic bloodline, especifically Kagura, and by extension, Naraku.
And Setsuna didn’t inherit gold eyes either, she has purple eyes, another inhuman eye colour, that also become pupilles in her full demon state, and, like Towa’s red eyes, point to a second demonic bloodline. Naraku’s bloodline has mostly red or purple eyes, and Setsuna’s purple matches Byakuya’s eyes. Naraku’s incarnations are, by all effects, siblings. They are treated as such in the narrative and directly called such by Naraku himself
So if Kagura is Towa and Setsuna's real mother, it would make perfect sense for Towa to inherit Kagura's red eyes in her half-demon and full demon form, and Naraku's darker red in her human form.
It would also make perfect sense for Setsuna to inherit her purple eyes from Byakuya, who would be her maternal uncle.
The twins' eyeshape also matches with Kagura instead of with Rin, and not even Towa's human form matches Rin's eye color. Rin's brown matches Moroha, not Towa. And we can see that Towa's eye color doesn't match Moroha when they are in the same frame, Towa's eyes retain a red hue.
Who does human Towa's eye color matches, then? Her grandfather, Naraku, when he was in his human time of weakness.
Talking, about eyes color and eyeshape
Kagura's angular eyeshape and pupiless eyes match Towa and Setsuna perfectly, down to the eyelashes.
And for those saying that Kagura can't be the mother because the twins are half demon, remember that Naraku himself is an artificial half demon with a demonic body and A HUMAN HEART. And what was what his incarnations lacked? Their hearts, which were kept by Naraku. Kagura herself has been said to have a "human like heart", so a revived Kagura with her heart could perfectly well be considered a half demon like her creator / father.
Not to mention, that the twins' half demon status was measured by Moroha by their demonic energy levels AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRST SEASON. And what happened as the episodes went on? That we learned that part of the twins DEMONIC POWER has been sealed and stunted, by the pearls and by a holy seal (Setsuna) or a self-imposed limitation (Towa). Moroha herself has said that Setsuna's demonic power was increasing, which is something that NORMAL DEMONS AND HALF-DEMONS CANNOT DO ON THEIR OWN. What was actually happening is that the seals could no longer keep up with her power.
That was why the Shikon Jewel was so coveted in the original series, because demons could increase their demonic powers by possessing the jewel. Otherwise, the only way to increase one's demonic power was to wield a demonic weapon or to absorb other demons and their powers.
So if Moroha read both twins as “half-demons” through their energy levels at the beginning of the series, and it turns out that both of them had seals that didn't allow them to use or access a pretty big part of their power , then it means that they may not be half demons at all, but 3/4 demons from a demon / half-demon pair, which would perfectly contrast with Moroha's 1/4 demon status. The twins have also been remarked to be too powerful for regular half-demon levels, repeteadly.
Following with Inukimi's characteristics ...
2. White hair.
Inherited by Sesshomaru and Towa
3. Moon marking and marking color.
Inukimi passes down her blue moon marking and clean, magenta stripes to Sesshomaru.
Towa and Setsuna inherit the moon marking and her marking color, but Toga's jagged shape for their cheek marks.
SO, WHAT TRAITS DO THE TWINS HAVE THAT CANNOT BE ATTRIBUTED TO SESSHOMARU, INUYASHA, INUKIMI OR TOUGA?
1. Red and purple eyes , from Kagura (red), Naraku (red and reddish-brown in human night) and Byakuya (purple)
2. Pupilless eyes in their full demon form . Because fully powered dog demons and half demons have eyes that look like this
And this
Which doesn't match with Towa and Setsuna's full demon forms at all.
3. Wind powers
Sesshomaru doesn't fly using the wind. He either travels by manipulating energy
Or by dematerializing his legs and levitating.
Meanwhile, Kagura is a wind user who CONTROLS THE WIND, like Setsuna does.
4. Moth powers and spells
Setsuna's
and Byakuya's
5. Moth wings
Setsuna's energy wings
Garamaru's physical wings
5. Shapeshifting
Inuyasha and Sesshomaru didn't have shapeshifting. The only changes for them were longer fangs and claws and Sesshomaru's giant dog transformation. But they didn't grow spikes, and they didn't have random hair length changes either.
Setsuna's arm spikes and her permanent blood blade
Naraku's spikes
Towa's hair length changes
Compared to Naraku's
6. Power blades from a bladeless sword
7. Energy absorption
Naraku's absorption of power
8. Energy barriers

MATCHING JEWELRY
Turns out that Towa and Setsuna have jewelry that matches Kagura's
Look at those pink beads on her wrist. They look kind of familiar, don't they?
They look very similar in design to Kagura's earrings. The only difference is that Towa's are pink and Kagura's are green. And Setsuna is wearing them too!
Look at her left wrist in the second photo. And talking about Setsuna, she's also wearing something else: look at the base of her ponytail. That band looks suspiciously feather-like to me!
So not only does Towa's child design have Kagura's signature short ponytail rather than Rin's side pigtail
But Setsuna wears a feather-like band on her ponytail in the modern era, the same way Kagura wore her feathers on hers. Those are some interesting fashion choices, giving the twins jewelry that matches Kagura's perfectly!
If they were sessrin children, wouldn't it make sense for their clothes and accessories to resemble both of their parents, the same way Moroha, Hisui, Gyokuto and Kin'u match theirs? How interesting that instead of matching with Rin, they match with Kagura. In fact, Yashahime has missed EVERY opportunity it had to make the twins have things in common with Rin, while they have a ton of things in common with Kagura. From their eye color, to their hair styles, their powers, their color schemes and even their accessories. It all points to Kagura being the real mother and Rin being a misdirection caused by Riku, who is an unreliable narrator that constantly lies both to other characters and the audience.
Remember Riku the pirate? The “winter fireflies” that were actually illusions? Riku saying that Kirinmaru had abandoned him while Kirinmaru says that he's his most trusted retainer?
Rather than taking Riku the manipulative liar completely at his word on this one instance, I'd rather use my own eyes. And my eyes say that those twins look like sesskagu children.

The interesting thing about Setsuna's flower field is that it combines imagery from Naraku and Kagura's flower fields.
There are three types of flowers associated with Setsuna: white, red and purple. White flowers, that become stained with red when she dies, exactly the same as in Kagura's flower field during her death scene. And purple flowers that look exactly the same as Naraku's flowers in Hijiri island, which also vanished and left the earth bare, like Setsuna's. So the white flowers stand in for Kagura, the red flowers stand in for death, and the purple flowers stand in for Naraku.
The Naraku flower field is on Hijiri island, which is on a lake and surrounded by water. After the barrier on the island is broken, the flowers disappear and leave the earth bare. Setsuna's flower field contains white and purple flowers, and, like Naraku's, it's also on an island, surrounded by water, and the flowers vanish the same way Naraku's flowers do.
But it's not only that the imagery matches, there are some very interesting things in that episode. For example, it begins with this
Looks familiar, doesn't it? That “comet” is actually Naraku, who crashed on Hijiri island after escaping from Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. There, I have recruited Saint Hakushin. How curious that he looked almost exactly the same as the Grim Comet. And what was on the island after the Naraku “comet” crashed on it? Minor demons that look very similar to the ones in the Grim Comet during the Touga and Kirinmaru flashback
Back to the flower field, the purple flowers on that island look exactly the same as the purple flowers on Setsuna's
And they vanish the same way
The only difference is that Setsuna's flowers sparkle when disappearing, while Naraku's vanish in mist.
And there is an additional piece of imagery in Setsuna's flower field: Setsuna is standing under a spotlight
Just like Kagura was on her introductory episode
They are even in the same pose.
So, Setsuna's flowers and her flower field are chockfull of Naraku and Kagura imagery:
1. White flowers, like the ones in Kagura's flower field, that become stained red during her death scene, much like Kagura's.
2. Purple flowers, like the ones in Naraku's flower field, which vanish and leave the earth bare. The one difference is that Naraku's flowers vanish in mist, while Setsuna's sparkle and then vanish.
3. The flower field is on an island, surrounded by water, just like Naraku's flower field.
4. Setsuna is under a spotlight, just like Kagura was during her introductory episode, and they are even in the same pose.

SETSUNA THE MOTH DEMON HYBRID
Setsuna and Towa are hybrids, but not in the way Inuyasha is. For Inuyasha, his blood was 50% dog demon and 50% human. For Towa and Setsuna, it's complicated because not only are they mixed race between human and demon, but their demonic part is a mix between several demonic species due to Kagura's heritage and Naraku's nature as an amalgamation type half-demon made out of several different demonic species (mostly insectoid) with a human core.
Regarding their maternal family, Towa's powers mostly take after Naraku: energy absorption, energy barriers, shapeshifting.
Setsuna, on the other hand, takes mostly after her mother Kagura and one of her uncles: Byakuya
Because, aside from their obvious physical resemblance, Byakuya is a moth demon, and Setsuna has inherited almost as many moth demon powers as she has wind powers.
Byakuya uses moths
That look very similar to the effects of Setsuna's Moon of the Resting Moth
But while Byakuya is a moth demon, he's also Naraku's incarnation and inherited many of his powers from Naraku, as well as some unique ones of his own.
But, we also have a moth demon from the original in whom we can perfectly see Setsuna's powers: Garamaru
From Garamaru, we learn that moth demons can either feed on blood like Gatenmaru did (something that's considered uncouth and caused him to be exiled from his tribe, along with leading a group of human bandits), or they can feed on negative emotions and emotional distress. And how do they do the latter? They make their victims FALL ASLEEP and imprison the sleepers in toxic coccoons that cannot be destroyed from the outside.
Then he makes them have nightmares so he can feed on their emotional distress and on their souls. And what was the effect of Setsuna's Moon of the Resting Moth? It made people FALL ASLEEP
There is also a clear visual connection between Moon of the Resting Moth and Garamaru's swarms of moths. Before Garamaru appears, he is announced by a moth swarm
That looks exactly the same as Setsuna's Moon of the Resting Moth
But it doesn't stop there. Because another thing Garamaru does is GROW WINGS FROM HIS BACK
Exactly the same way Setsuna does
The only difference is that Setsuna's wings are made from energy, while Garamaru's wings are physical.
Towa and Setsuna's power often mirror each other, manifesting in opposite ways:
Towa is resistant to miasma, but not to venom. Setsuna is resistant to venom, but not to miasma.
Towa can control her full demon form, but not her human form, as she has uncontrolled and irregular human nights. Setsuna can control her human form, as she doesn't have human nights, but she can't control her full demon form, as she goes berserk.
And Towa can create energy blades, but cannot create energy wings, while Setsuna cannot create energy blades, but she can create energy wings.
So, as we can see, Setsuna is clearly showingcasing powers that are not Dog Demon in nature, but Moth Demon: sleep inducement and wings on her back. And there is no way she could have those powers if she was simply 50% dog demon and 50% human. However, it's perfectly explained if one of her uncles on her mother's side is a moth demon (or a partial moth demon), and one created by a spider amalgamation half demon using the power of the Shikon Jewel.
Oh, and talking about Byakuya, his illusion powers are also MOTH DEMON in nature. Because Garamaru's Forest of Sorrow was actually an illusion inside a barrier
Once the illusion is broken, the dead forest goes back to normal.
And before anyone argues about the Rainbow Pearls and the Dream Butterfly, if the twins' Naraku-like powers truly came from the Rainbow Pearls, they would have lost them with the pearls. Instead, Towa not only keeps her energy absorption, but develops another power inherited from Naraku in her full demon form: energy barriers. And Setsuna not only keeps her wind powers, but her contorl over her blood blade, which has a Naraku-like aspect to it of Body Modification (as it stays on her arm after she goes back to her half-demon state, while Inuyasha lost his enhanced claws after going back from a full demon transformation), improves once she loses her pearl.
Because the Rainbow Pearls aren't giving the twins their powers, they give a power-up to what was already there, and allow them to more easily control a basic version of their powers. However, because the pearls are acting like a crutch, using them stunted the twins' ability to further tap into their innate powers and their ability to control them, because the pearls acted like a seal and controlled their powers for them.
Now that the pearls have been removed, we are likely to see even more inherited powers from Naraku's side of the family, as well as an increase in fine control.

INNATE POWERS AND WEAPON RELATED POWERS
PART 2: SETSUNA
Something that has to be differentiated in Inuyasha is whether a power or technique is innate to the demon, half-demon or human using it, or if it’s tied ot a weapon.
INNATE POWERS are those that a demon, half-demon or human can use without any tool. They can be strengthened by a tool or channeled through it, but the power itself is innate. For example, Kagome has spiritual powers that she can use without a weapon.
And she can channel them through her arrows to improve her range and attack power.
Her ability to see spiritual and demonic auras is also innate. Miroku’s spiritual powers work the same. He can strengthen them by channeling his powers through his staff or sutras, but he also can use them without those tools.
Now, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru actually have a lot of innate power, but few innate techniques. For Inuyasha, his innate techniques are Iron Reaver and Blood Blades. For Sesshomaru, his innate techniques are Poison Claws and Poison Whip. Everything else Inuyasha and Sesshomaru do comes from mastering demon-made weapons that haver their own techniques that only their wielders can use, and they have to master the weapon first.
The Windscar isn’t innate to Inuyasha. It’s innate to Tessaiga. Both Inu no Taisho and Sesshomaru could use the Windscar when wielding Tessaiga. What Inuyasha did was improve his ability to use Tessaiga and discover new techniques.
Ressurrection isn’t innate to Sesshomaru, it’s innate to Tenseiga. And Azure Dragon is innate to Tokijin.
Therefore, Moroha can inherit Kagome’s spiritual powers, and Inuyasha’s Iron Reaver and Blood Blades, but she can’t inherit the Wind Scar or other techniques that are exclusive to Tessaiga. She would have to be wielding Tessaiga for that.
And the thing about the twins is that, unlike Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, who use demon weapons that allow them to use specific techniques tied to the weapon, Towa and Setsuna are using non-magical weapons. Towa’s sword is a replica, and Setsuna’s naginata is human-made, and thus cannot have any powers or tehcniques unique to it. This means that all of the twins’ powers are INNATE, and they use their weapons to channel them, just like Kagome channels her spiritual powers through her arrows.
This makes them different from Moroha, who, unlike the twins, has a demonic weapon that gives her the techniques Crimson Dragon Wave and Backslash Wave. These are not innate powers for Moroha, she’s mastered a demonic weapon’s technique, just like Inuyasha mastered the Wind Scar and other techniques from the Tessaiga, but the Tessaiga’s techniques weren’t innate to Inuyasha.
And, the interesting thing about the twins powers is that they clearly have a powerset that is very clearly a mix of Sesshomaru and something else, while with Moroha we can very clearly see Inuyasha, Kagome and even Touga as the source of her powers. And, if we talk Inukimi/Sessmom, given that Inuyasha DOESN’T HAVE Poison Claws or Poison Whip and has Iron Reaver and Blood Blades instead, I’d say that those are her powers and Sesshomaru inherited them from her instead of from Touga. Inukimi is also heavily associated with death and resurrection.
So where do the twins unexplainable powers come from? Their mother’s side, Kagura’s half-demon family, which is also the place where their human part comes from.
SETSUNA’S POWERS
1. Poison claws
This power comes directly from Sesshomaru. She inherited it without much variation. The main difference is that Sesshomaru’s poison claws sprayed the poison in an area, while Setsuna’s work more like a poisonous version of Inuyasha’s Iron Reaver.
We can also see that Setsuna ha also inherited Sesshomaru’s green aura, which Bakusaiga, the blade made out of Sesshomaru’s own power, also has.
Meanwhile, the Tokijin, a blade made out of Goshinki’s fangs, initially has a red aura when possessing its wielder or trying to.
Oscillated between its own red aura and Sesshomaru’s green aura when Sesshomaru was still fighting the blade for control
And only developed a blue aura once Sesshomaru completely mastered it
However, this blue aura that Towa shares is ONLY INNATE TO TOKIJIN. Because demonic weapons have their own powers and their own aura. When Sesshomaru wields Tessaiga, it remains gold.
The Tenseiga also has its own innate dark blue and black aura
Take into account that Tessaiga and Tenseiga are made from Inu no Taisho’s power, and Tokijin is made from Goshinki’s power. Bakusaiga, the blade that is made form Sesshomaru’s own power, is the only one that shares his own green aura.
We can see that Setsuna has inherited Sesshomaru’s green demonic aura once her power is unsealed.
So, if Tokijin’s blue/white aura is innate to Tokijin rather than Sesshomaru, where does Towa’s blue aura come from?
Actually, it comes from the same place as most of her other powers: Naraku
This blue/white aura is also inherited by Kanna
And Juromaru, another of Naraku's incarnations.
Oh, and talking about demonic aura, Sesshomaru's demonic aura has never been purple like this
But Naraku's definitely varied between blue and purple, and has the same exact hue as Setsuna's aura in the image above.
2. Cyclone Burst
Just like Setsuna inherited Sesshomaru's poison claws, unchanged, she also inherited some of Kagura's skills unchanged: wind vortex and Dance of the Dragon.
Cyclone burst produces an upwards wind vortex that takes people off the floor and into the air.
Moroha has to grab onto the railing to not get sucked in by Setsuna's wind vortex. Meanwhile, the very first technique Kagura used against the wolf demons was also a wind vortex
That sent the wolves flying
And, of course, Cyclone Burst is incredibly similar to Dance of the Dragon
With the only difference being the weapon they are using to channel their wind powers. Setsuna uses a naginata to channel her powers, so she spins it. Kagura uses a fan, so she waves the fan to activate it, being able to summon and manipulate her wind from a further distance and in more varied ways.
3. Scourge of Swallows
Now THIS is a fusion attack between one of Sesshomaru's innate techniques and one of Kagura's.
Specifically, it's a fusion between Sesshomaru's Poison Whip, which makes the tails of the “swallows”
And Kagura Dance of Blades, which make the swallow's wings
Another thing Scourge of Swallows has in common with Dance of Blades is that Kagura's attack was a long distance one, while Sesshomaru's Poison Whip was mid-distance, and he couldn't shoot it like Kagura's Dance of Blades. Poison whip always stayed tethered to Sesshomaru's hand, while Scourge of Swallows is shot off.
4. Moon of the Resting Moth
This is another fusion attack, and one that entirely comes from Kagura's family. Specifically, Moon of the Resting Moth is a fusion of Kagura's Dance of the Wind Sword (the wind control technique which she used to stop Inuyasha from being able to smell the point where demonic energies clashed, and stopped him from using the Wind Scar) Byakuya moth demon illusions and some aspects of Kagura's Dance of the Dead.
Setsuna's Moon of the Resting Moth begins with a focus on her weapon that she uses to channel her innate powers
Followed by a slow motion circular movement that begins with the naginata at her left elbow
And ends with it pointing towards the ground, creating an energy circle from which illusory moths come from
It follows exactly the same sequence as Kagura's Dance of the Wind Sword, which begins with a focus on her weapon that she uses to channel her wind powers through
Followed by a slow motion circular movement
That ends with her fan at her left elbow, pointing to the left, and produces a circular wind spell that gives her control over the wind in the area and the ability to hide the point where demonic energies clash from Inuyasha's sense of smell.
Not only do Moon of the Resting Moth and Dance of the Wind Blade share the same sequence, but Kagura's starts with her fan pointing upwards
and ends at her left elbow
While Setsuna's Moon of the Resting Moth starts at her left elbow
And ends with her naginata poiting downwards, to the ground
In other words, if we start with Kagura's Dance of the Wind Sword and end with Setsuna's Moon of the Resting Moth, we get a full circle.
Then there is the effect of the Moon of Resting Moth: it produces illusory moths that alter the consciousness of the targets and make them fall asleep
Kagura also has a technique that allowed her to control a target's movements and their consciousness: Dance of the Dead. Dance of the Dead not only allowed her to move corpses around, it also allowed her to make dead bodies speak in order to send messages, like using a dead wolf to tell kouga that the wolves were being wiped out at Naraku's castle
And, furthermore, Kagura could also control LIVING TARGETS so long as they had had their souls taken by Kanna first. Koharu has her soul taken by Kanna
Which makes her vulnerable to Kagura's Dance of the Dead despite still being alive, and she's able to act as she usually did until she had the opportunity to restrain Kagome to help Kanna steal her soul as well.
So Moon of the Resting Moth makes people fall unconscious, and Dance of the Dead allowed Kagura to control people who had lost their souls, whether because they had died or because their souls had been stolen. Both of them alter or control consciousness.
5. Venom resistance vs miasma resistance
Setsuna inherited Sesshomaru's venom, and has a resistance to it, but she doesn't resist miasma. Meanwhile, despite being Sesshomaru's daughter as well, Towa has miasma resistance, but doesn't resist venom like her father and sister.
Powerwise, Setsuna takes mostly after Sesshomaru and Kagura, with some abilities from Naraku and Byakuya, while Towa's powers take heavily after Naraku, inheriting resistance to miasma as well. And we all know that toxic miasma was another of Naraku's specialties and that his entire castle was full of it when he stopped pretending to be a human feudal lord. Rin was taken to Kohaku's house outside the castle the first time she was kidnapped because humans couldn't live in the castle due to the huge amounts of miasma, but Naraku, Kagura and Kanna had no trouble at all, because they have resistance to miasma .
Meanwhile, Inuyasha didn't inherit any poison or venom ability or immunity, making it clear that Sesshomaru's and Setsuna's venom comes from Inukimi. Inuyasha is vulnerable both to Sesshomaru's venom
and Naraku's miasma.
6. Lack of human time of weakness
Naraku controlled his human time of weakness and only had human nights when he wanted to experiment with his powers, first to get a stronger barrier, then in Mt Hakurei to create the Infant and his armored form.
And Setsuna has complete control over her human time of weakness as well, and doesn't have human nights at all. This is not a side-effect of the pearls, as Towa has human nights while having her Silver Pearl, or from the curse of sleeplessness, because human nights affected Inuyasha and the other half demons whether they were awake or asleep. Not to mention, that even though Setsuna is unable to sleep, the passage of time and the phases of the moon should affect her like any other dog half demon of Inu no Taisho's line. Otherwise, she would have stayed frozen as a 4 year old. And, other half demons have been shown asleep during their human nights, including Inuyasha.
And Naraku
So if Setsuna doesn't have human nights the same way Inuyasha and Towa do, it's not because of the pearl (because Towa has them with the pearl), and it's not because of the Dream Butterfly (because the passage of time affects her like anyone else, and being asleep or awake has no bearing on human nights), so where does that ability come from? Naraku, the half demon who could choose when to have a human night, or not to have them at all, and who would be her grandfather if Kagura is her mother.
Towa being in the future shouldn't stop her from having a human night either, because the feudal era and the future are THE SAME WORLD. What is the proof? That the Noh mask had a fragment of the Shikon Jewel embedded in it, and it was found IN KAGOME'S TIME. Therefore, Towa's theory about human night only affecting her when she's under the same moon she was born under is INCORRECT, because the moon is THE SAME whether in the past or in the future, because it's the same world.
7. Uncontrollable full demon form with arm spikes and wings
The twins' control over their human and full demon forms mirrors each other the same way their venom resistance and miasma resistance does. Towa has resistance to miasma, but she's vulnerable to venom, and has full control over her fully demonic form, but spotty control over her human form, being able to subconsciously suppress it for 10 years, but being unable to control them later on.
Setsuna is the opposite, having resistance to venom but a vulnerability to miasma, and she has full control over her human form (she doesn't have human nights at all), but her control over her full demon form is unstable, and she goes into a demonic frenzy while Towa doesn't.
Setsuna's full demon form is realeased in stages, and her transformation progresses as Setsuna's when powers are suddenly released from her seal. With each beat, the transformation progresses further. The first step is pointed ears, pupilless purple eyes, enhanced claws and fangs and dog demon facial markings that correspond in color with Sesshomaru's cheek markings.
in the second stage, she gains a green demonic aura, corresponding to what we see of Towa's full demon form. Setsuna also gains Sesshomaru blue moon marking, arm spikes and her blood blade in this form, and her sclera turns red, signaling the upcoming loss of control over her full demon form
In the final stage of her transformation, she grows purple wings
Now THIS FORM basically screams “gaze upon my spider demon and moth demon heritage”.
Spider demons have bone spikes on their arms. Naraku has them
And so do Goshinki and Moryomaru, two of Naraku's incarnations
Meanwhile, moth demons have wings
And what demonic species is Byakuya connected to? Moth demons
Byakuya, the Naraku incarnation who shares Setsuna's purple eyes, wears his hair the same way as her, and has the same color scheme as Setsuna. Who has an illusion type spell called Moon of the Resting MOTH. Byakuya of the Dreams, who specialized in illusions. The thematic connection is as clear as day.
But, didn't Setsuna's wings come from the Dream Butterfly? Let's looks at it.
The dream butterfly has solid wings with blue, red, black and pink patterns. It also has two long trails on its lower wings. Meanwhile, Setsuna's wings are only purple / violet, without patterns, and transparent. They have short trails in the lower wings, not long trails like the Dream Butterfly.
Furthermore, the fact that they are transparent gives Setsuna a very family purple sky backdrop. One that appeared every single time that Naraku or his castle showed up in Inuyasha.
Purple sky
Purple sky
Naraku's castle was shrouded in miasma, and that gave it a purple and cloudy sky. Whenever Naraku appeared, the sky turned purple and cloudy. And what do we see through Setsuna's wings? A purple sky. Same with Towa's full demon transformation.
Another difference between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's full demon forms with the twins' is that Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's eyes had red sclera and blue irises. They also had a red aura. Meanwhile, Setsuna keeps her Sesshomaru-green aura, and Towa keeps her Naraku / Tokijin-blue aura. And their eyes are pupilless, with Setsuna's only going red in the sclera as she lost control.
Towa and Setsuna's eyes in their full demon forms don't match Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's, but they match Kagura and Hakudoshi perfectly.
Hakudoshi even has the same hair shape and length as Towa, which is fitting since both of them inherited it from Muso / Onigumo.
And really, what's more likely, that Towa and Setsuna inherit eye color and eye shape from their mother and maternal grandfather (Kagura and Naraku for Towa) and maternal uncles (Hakudoshi and Byakuya for Setsuna), or FROM THEIR FATHER'S BIRTHMARKS?
Especially since the twins would be a major exception in eye color and marking color inheritance in the dog demon family.
Inu no Taisho has gold eyes and purple demon markings.
His son Inuyasha inherits gold eyes in his half demon form
his father's purple cheek marks in his full demon form
and his mother's gray eyes in his human form.
Inuyasha's daughter, Moroha, inherits Inuyasha gold eyes and purple markings in her more demonic form,
and her mother's brown eyes in her regular form.
Inukimi has gold eyes, magenta cheek markings and a blue moon marking on her forehead.
Sesshomaru, her son, inherits gold eyes from both Inukimi and Inu no Taisho, Inukimi's magenta cheek markings and her blue moon marking.
Towa and Setsuna also inherit Sesshomaru and Inukimi's magenta cheek markings and blue moon marking. So it makes no sense for them to also get their eye color from Sesshomaru's markings, and they would be their only characters wit such a nonsensical feature inheritance. If their only demonic family were Sesshomaru (father), Inuyasha (uncle) Inu no Taisho (paternal grandfather) and Inukimi (paternal grandmother), THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE GOLD EYES IN THEIR HALF DEMON FORMS, RED SCLERA + BLUE IRIS IN THEIR FULL DEMON FORMS AND BROWN EYES (RIN) IN THEIR HUMAN FORM. And they don't.
Instead, Towa has Kagura's eyeshape and Kagura and Naraku's red eyes in her half demon form, reddish brown eyes like human night Naraku in her human form and pupilless red eyes like Kagura in her full demon form.
Setsuna has Kagura's eyeshape and Byakuya's purple eye color in her half-demon form, and pupilless purple eyes like Hakudoshi in her full demon form while she still has control over it. They go completely red when she loses it, instead of being red sclera and blue pupil like Inuyasha.
The twins inheriting their eye color from their father's birthmarks (which they have already inherited as birthmarks) would be as nonsensical as if Gyokuto, Kin'u or Hisui somehow got pink eyes from Sango's pink eyeshadow. Children inherit eye colors from their family members' eye colors, not from facial markings.
8. Blood Blade
Setsuna's blood blade is another fusion attack.
This time, the fusion Inuyasha's blades of blood (blood manipulation)
Sesshomaru's poison whip (whip shape, it being attacked to her arm instead of thrown like the Blood Blades)
And Naraku's shapeshifting. While the blood manipulation and whip form obviously come from Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, there is something that makes Setsuna's blood blade very different from those two techniques: The fact that it's a body modification that appears when she first unlocks her full demon form
and stays on her arm after the transformation has run its course. Inuyasha didn't keep any enhanced demonic traits like longer and stronger fangs and claws after going through full demon transformation. So why does Setsuna's blood blade ...
Still stay on her arm and she's still able to use AFTER GOING BACK TO HER HALF-DEMON FORM? Because it's a permament body modification and the result of SHAPESHIFTING. Which would come from Naraku and make it similar to Naraku's post Mt Hakurei bone armor.
They are even in a similar pose here, with the placement of the red eye on the back of Naraku's hand being very similar to the placement of the end of Setsuna's red blood blade.
Naraku could also manipulate and shapeshift this bone armor as he wanted in order to fight, just like Setsuna manipulates her blood.
In other words, Setsuna looks very much like her biological mother Kagura and her biological uncle Byakuya, and she has she has inherited the majority of her powers and physical traits from those two.
And, of course, she looks nothing like her adoptive sister Rin and hasn't inherited any kind of physical traits or powers from her (as if Rin has any powers to inherit in the first place), because they are not blood related at all .

INNATE POWERS AND WEAPON RELATED POWERS.
PART ONE: TOWA.
Something that has to be differentiated in Inuyasha is whether a power or technique is innate to the demon, half-demon or human using it, or if it's tied ot a weapon.
Miroku's spiritual powers work the same.
Everything else Inuyasha and Sesshomaru do comes from mastering demon-made weapons that have their own techniques that only their wielders can use, and they have to master the weapon first.
The Windscar isn't innate to Inuyasha. It's innate to Tessaiga. Both Inu no Taisho and Sesshomaru could use the Windscar when wielding Tessaiga. What Inuyasha did was improve his ability to use Tessaiga and discover new techniques.
Ressurrection isn't innate to Sesshomaru, it's innate to Tenseiga. And Azure Dragon is innate to Tokijin.
Therefore, Moroha can inherit Kagome's spiritual powers, and Inuyasha's Iron Reaver and Blood Blades, but she can't inherit the Wind Scar or other techniques that are exclusive to Tessaiga. She would have to be wielding Tessaiga for that.
And the thing about the twins is that, unlike Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, who use demon weapons that allow them to use specific techniques tied to the weapon, Towa and Setsuna are using non-magical weapons. Towa's sword is a replica, and Setsuna's naginata is human-made, and thus cannot have any powers or tehcniques unique to it. This means that all of the twins' powers are INNATE, and they use their weapons to channel them, just like Kagome channels her spiritual powers through her arrows.
This makes them different from Moroha, who, unlike the twins, has a demonic weapon that gives her the techniques Crimson Dragon Wave and Backslash Wave. These are not innate powers for Moroha, she's mastered a demonic weapon's technique, just like Inuyasha mastered the Wind Scar and other techniques from the Tessaiga, but the Tessaiga's techniques weren't innate to Inuyasha.
And, the interesting thing about the twins powers is that they clearly have a powerset that is very clearly a mix of Sesshomaru and something else, while with Moroha we can very clearly see Inuyasha, Kagome and even Touga as the source of her powers. And, if we talk Inukimi / Sessmom, given that Inuyasha DOESN'T HAVE Poison Claws or Poison Whip and has Iron Reaver and Blood Blades instead, I'd say that those are her powers and Sesshomaru inherited them from her instead of from Touga. Inukimi is also heavily associated with death and resurrection.
So where do the twins unexplainable powers come from? Their mother's side, Kagura's half-demon family, which is also the place where their human part comes from.
TOWA'S POWERS
1. Power blade : Towa channels her demonic powers through either her hands or the handle of her broken sword in order to use blades. This is a fusion between Sesshomaru's ability to manipulate demonic energy (poison whip) and Byakuya's power blade.
2. Energy absorption: This power comes from Naraku. Naraku was notorious for his ability to absorb other demons and their powers in order to strengthen himself. Likewise, Towa uses her powerblade to pierce her enemies and once she has made contact, she can absorb their energy to strengthen herself. The main difference is that Towa's power-up is temporary, while Naraku's was permanent, and that she can absorb less power at a time than Naraku.
Meanwhile, Sesshomaru never has had power absorption abilities. He had incrediby high innate demonic power on his own. Absorbing others' powers and using the shikon jewel / the rainbow pearl to increase one owns powers was very much a Naraku thing, while Sesshomaru rejected external power-ups and only used his own powers and weapons that he could channel his powers through.
Naraku and Towa even have pretty much the same dialogue while trying to absorb the powers of a Daiyoukai, which they ultimately failed at because said Daiyoukai was too strong for them to absorb (Towa) or because he got interrupted (Naraku). Note that Naraku's theme music was playing for Towa when she was trying to absorb Kirinmaru's powers (or it was a Kirinmaru theme that was very obviously sampling the most recognizable parts of Naraku's, the effect is the same)
3. Azure Dragon Strike: For Sesshomaru, Azure Dragon Strike was not an innate power, just like Resurrection was not an innate power. Azure Dragon was tied to Tokijin, just like Resurrection was tied to Tenseiga. So how come Towa has Azure Dragon? Because of the origin of the Tokijin. Tokijin was a blade made with the fangs of Goshinki, one of Naraku's incarnations who had been able to break Tessaiga.
So the powers of Tokijin come from Goshinki, and Goshinki's powers come from Naraku, his creator. Towa can inherit Azure Dragon because of her connection to Naraku, not because of her connection to Sesshomaru.
4. Energy barrier: This is very much inherited from Naraku. Naraku specialized in defensive techniques like regeneration and energy barriers, which are things that Sesshomaru is actually terrible at. Sesshomaru has never made a defensive energy barrier in his life, his fighting style is hyper offensive, based on being faster, more agile and more powerful than his enemies. But Sesshomaru has ZERO defensive techniques and his regeneration and constitution are terrible for demonic standards.
When Sesshomaru actually takes a serious hit, he goes down hard, retreats and takes a while to heal. Inuyasha, who is actually the sturdier one of the two brothers, is able to continue fighting even after being repeatedly stabbed through the torso. And Sesshomaru took around an entire year to regenerate his arm, while Naraku could survive having 90% of his body disintegrated by Kagome's arrows, and later on, regenerated from similar injuries almost instantaneously. He also spent most of the series making stronger and stronger energy barriers. There were several arcs about the gang trying to figure out how to get past Naraku's newest defensive technique, barrier or immortal-level regeneration.
Just like the power absorption parallels Towa vs Kirinmaru with Naraku vs Sesshomaru, Towa's barrier also parallels a Naraku scene. The first time Towa creates an energy barrier, she places herself in front of Setsuna's body and shields them both with an energy barrier from Kirinmaru's powerful attack. The first time Naraku creates a complete energy barrier, he places himself in front of Kagura and shields them both with an energy barrier from Inuyasha's powerful attack. Naraku's barrier even glowed blue, just like Towa's, before stabilizing as purple.
5. Shapeshifting : Towa's hair shapeshifts into being longer or shorter depending on her state (human, half-demon, demon). This doesn't come from Inuyasha, whose hair stayed the same length in all three forms (human, half-demon, demon) or Sesshomaru, whose hair never changed length. Naraku, though? He did that all the time.
And so does Towa
6. Ability to choose her human night: Yet another Naraku trait. Towa's demonic powers had a subconscious and self-imposed seal on them after she made the promise that she wouldn't use them in the modern era to Souta. She didn't use demonic powers, and SHE DIDN'T TURN HUMAN IN THE NEW MOON either.
Regular half-demons have very specific biological triggers for their human time of weakness, and they can't control when it happens or for how long. For Inuyasha and Towa, it's the new moon. For Shiori, it's the eclipse. Jinenji had a normal human time of weakness as well.
But Towa was able to subsconsciously suppress her human time of weakness along with her other demonic traits, only starting to be affected by them after she accepted herself as a half-demon and returned to the feudal era. That implies that Towa can control her human time of weakness, because she can subconsciously stop her human nights from happening just like she suppressed her other demonic traits in the modern era. The only half-demon who could control his human time of weakness, being able to choose when to have it was Naraku, because Naraku is an amalgamation of many different demons with a human core.
Furthermore, Towa's eyes during human night are even the same color of reddish brown as Naraku's, while Inuyasha's turned a human gray. So, not only can Towa subconsciously control her human nights and choose not to have them, like Naraku, but she maintains some of her demonic characteristics during it: her red streak and her red eyes, which becomes a reddish brown very similar to Naraku's. And remember, Naraku also maintained demonic traits during his human time of weakness, he used it to experiment with his powers to strengthen himself and dispose of unnecessary demonic parts or traits.
Moroha, on the other hand, actually has brown eyes that don't have a red undertone, and her eye color is very different from Towa's and Naraku's. Inuyasha's eyes don't have any gold undertones, either, and he doesn't keep any of his demonic characteristics during his human time of weakness. And neither do any other half demons other than Naraku.
Oh, and talking about human nights and shapeshifting, Towa's hair changes again during her human night, becoming longer.
And very similar to Muso / Onigumo's hair. And Onigumo was Naraku's human core, and therefore the source of the twins' human blood.
So, as you can see, just like Moroha really takes after her paternal grandfather Touga, Towa takes after her maternal grandfather, Naraku, just as much. And, of course, she looks nothing like her adoptive sister Rin and has inherited nothing from her either, because Rin is Sesshomaru's adoptive daughter and she and Towa aren't blood related at all.
Deal with it, sessrinners.
