award for most devil’s sacrament moment of the year goes without a doubt to this morning when my coworker (delivering presentation) (screen projected onto wall in front of me and god and everyone) opened a new tab in google chrome and in the number one spot among the collection of icons for frequently visited websites was. the ao3 logo

#when i tell you it took everything i had in me not to visibly or audibly react #and she didn’t react at all! so either she has a great poker face or didn’t notice or else also subscribes to the whole devil’s sacrament #mindset i.e. ‘well if they recognize it they have no room to judge’#which is of course correct! i’m not judging! i’m simply experiencing The Kinship That Must Never Be Acknowledged very acutely in a public #and professional environment!#this is also not really new information to me like i don’t know for sure if she’s on this website but i could For Sure have pegged her as #an ao3 girlie at least and i’m sure she knows the same about me #(throwback to the runner-up for the most devil’s sacrament moment award from last week when i (clearly online) mentioned that i don’t spend #much time on youtube but i find other ways to waste it and she was like ‘oh such as?’ and i cursed my big mouth and awkwardly went ‘well i #read a lot of fiction’ (true but NOT what we were talking about and we both knew it perfectly well) and then we both had to sit with that)#anyway! mini heart attack moment for sure seeing that symbol in that context but fun times overall :)#and this is why i will never ever open ao3 in a non-incognito tab lest my computer too decide to betray me. forever amen #[REDACTED] on the OFF CHANCE YOU END UP READING THIS and recognize yourself and thus learn my online identity. please don’t tell anyone #let’s keep the devil’s sacrament between us #caseyposting

Did you know, you can take a Harvard computer science class...for free?

CS50x is a free online introduction to computer science course, featuring recorded lectures of an actual Harvard class, along with all the assignments, access to a cloud-based development environment, and supplemental material to help you. This is all completely free, and all at your own pace.

Now, the only catch is if you want a "verified certificate" of your completion of the course, it will cost about $150. You will still receive a digital certificate, but the verified certificate has an extra layer of authenticity, if you plan on using it professionally. Whether that's necessary, your mileage may vary. But all in all, still a relatively cheap price, and you can upgrade at any time.

I can't think of any resource for learning computer science and programming better than this. Even if you struggle with the concepts, there are many other people and resources around the internet to help you with this class specifically. If you've never written a line of code, or how computers work is a complete mystery to you, this class is still for you. Seriously, give it a try.

why do i, an english/theatre major have to take calculus??? I WILL GENUINELY NEVER USE THAT. THIS IS SO HOMOPHOBIC. THIS IS GOING TO MAKE ME LOSE MY 4.0 I CAN FEEL IT.

I made an A in statistics so I'm not like. the worst math student. and I made A's in my high school classes #BUT #I was told that I only needed one math course for my major. so I chose statistics. bc it sounded easy #but now they're like :D you have to take calculus in the spring #LIKE HELL I DO #who did this to me.#I hate math #I HATEEEE IT #numbers don't compute well in my brain so I have to spend extra time on them #it doesn't come naturally like other things #AND THEY MOVED MY SPANISH CLASSES ONLINE FOR THE FALL #LET ME LIVE

every day this week i have gone to set up my classroom and somehow that involves spending way more time there than i thought (9am - 6pm) and also an average of $250 a day

i’m already over this year

#my classroom library was PITIFUL #i taught primary for over a decade and last year i borrowed books from my friends and teammates #so i spent about … $400? on books alone #then of course i don’t have nearly enough space so i needed shelves #and target had those cute disc chairs on sale so they’re also in my library now #the school didn’t add headphones to the supply list and i found some on sale so i picked up a few of those #we have to use an online component for math and like hell am i going to listen to 25 computers during that time #plus new bulletin board paper and borders (okay those were very cheap)#now i really want to get some plants but lord i’m so broke

Personal Plans on Udemy? | Resources ✨

I was thinking about Udemy because I haven't visited the site in months. When I logged back in, I noticed a new feature called "Personal Plan" on the homepage. As a web developer, I naturally clicked on the corresponding section and found something interesting~!!!

You can have access to all the listed courses and more for only £15 per month - however it is billed yearly (I hate when they do that...)! I thought, "Oh, that's great!" But, since I'm currently not employed and not earning any income, I don't think I'll enroll just yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it in the future!

There are other sections too like Data Science and Ethical Hacking, and even non-tech subjects too!
