While scrolling through Twitter, I saw some posts that highlighted some free IT courses and resources being offered by Harvard University! Harvard University offers a wide range of IT courses that are available to the public for free! Here are some of them!

Did you know, you can take a Harvard computer science class...for free?

CS50x is a free online introduction to computer science course, featuring recorded lectures of an actual Harvard class, along with all the assignments, access to a cloud-based development environment, and supplemental material to help you. This is all completely free, and all at your own pace.

Now, the only catch is if you want a "verified certificate" of your completion of the course, it will cost about $150. You will still receive a digital certificate, but the verified certificate has an extra layer of authenticity, if you plan on using it professionally. Whether that's necessary, your mileage may vary. But all in all, still a relatively cheap price, and you can upgrade at any time.

I can't think of any resource for learning computer science and programming better than this. Even if you struggle with the concepts, there are many other people and resources around the internet to help you with this class specifically. If you've never written a line of code, or how computers work is a complete mystery to you, this class is still for you. Seriously, give it a try.

every day this week i have gone to set up my classroom and somehow that involves spending way more time there than i thought (9am - 6pm) and also an average of $250 a day

i’m already over this year

#my classroom library was PITIFUL #i taught primary for over a decade and last year i borrowed books from my friends and teammates #so i spent about … $400? on books alone #then of course i don’t have nearly enough space so i needed shelves #and target had those cute disc chairs on sale so they’re also in my library now #the school didn’t add headphones to the supply list and i found some on sale so i picked up a few of those #we have to use an online component for math and like hell am i going to listen to 25 computers during that time #plus new bulletin board paper and borders (okay those were very cheap)#now i really want to get some plants but lord i’m so broke

#stuff like this happens all the time #every time we talk i realise that we're growing up in two completely different times #also he moves through apps #every time i mention something a website or some other thing you can find online #he asks what app is that #and I'm like baby no #the world is not made of apps #apps in the way they exist today are younger than you #or all the streaming platforms #i looked for a (definitly legal) movie in front of him the other day and i played it to check the quality #because him and his mom wanted to watch it and couldn't find it #and all he said was On what platform did you find it #i was like I'm gonna tell you a story #✨the story of internet in the early 2000✨#listen we grew up with internet meaning that the internet has grown with us which means that we know it #we know how to be safe on it we know what to do and what not to do we understand when something is real and when something is not #the problem with all these new generations is that yes they know how to use a phone since year one but in reality they have no idea about #the internet they have no idea about what they hold in their hands they have no idea about what they can do with it #what the hell they don't even know how to access the internet #they don't know websites they don't know every app is actually a website #the same nephew once turned on a computer and was so lost and disappointed he asked me #is there YouTube on this thing?#my child! you have the world at your hands and you're asking me if there is youtube in it #and yes of course he's a child he need to be thought stuff abd you're right #but also not if it makes sense #at least in my experience i was left completely alone on the internet and yes i was probably watched at a distance from my older siblings #but i was given the space and time to explore it at some point i had my very own computer i was on socials at a very young age #most of the people my own age where #and we were way more responsible with it #idk where am i going with this i don't really have a point

Personal Plans on Udemy? | Resources ✨

I was thinking about Udemy because I haven't visited the site in months. When I logged back in, I noticed a new feature called "Personal Plan" on the homepage. As a web developer, I naturally clicked on the corresponding section and found something interesting~!!!

You can have access to all the listed courses and more for only £15 per month - however it is billed yearly (I hate when they do that...)! I thought, "Oh, that's great!" But, since I'm currently not employed and not earning any income, I don't think I'll enroll just yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it in the future!

There are other sections too like Data Science and Ethical Hacking, and even non-tech subjects too!

Also I can’t figure out if my life genuinely does suck or I’m just having an existential crisis because my period starts in approximately 48 hours

#it does make me worse ngl. i wish i could just yeet my uterus #i was just starting to think about how all my days are the same and it’s boring and i’m boring #and i never see anybody or meet new people or make new friends #working from home is all well and good until it makes you want to [redacted]#and you all can say ‘just leave your house!’ as much as you want but living in a small town and having no car is not really conducive #to getting myself out there #i mean my town literally has about a dozen businesses and half of them are sad pubs. the others are like hair salon; co-op; church; butcher #2 takeaways. and yeah there’s parks but all of them are kind of dire #maybe i could start getting the bus places. going somewhere else. idk #i have been thinking about taking a trip but wherever i go i still take myself and it’s like i’m in this state of permanent malaise #too nervous to talk to anyone and too impatient to linger anywhere or enjoy anything #everything i do i rush through so i can do something else #and i think amongst it all i’m just reckoning with the fact that i’m never going to be remarkable. i mean neither is anyone else really #but i always thought i’d write a novel or become a college professor or something but i’m not smart enough and i don’t have enough words #or ideas in me. not really. i’m not a creative i’m just an imitator. always have been #and i could live with being unremarkable because we all are in the cosmic universe but i still don’t think i can live with rotting #in my hometown. but then it’s like how do i get out?#i signed up for an online course just to vary things a bit. just to get some enrichment in my enclosure #it’s this slow realisation that i thought i Wanted to work at home. i thought i liked the peace of it. just me and the computer screen #but no i like to work outside and then come back to my home as my sanctuary. i have to leave it sometimes to really appreciate it #but no one wants to hire me for an intellectual job because i’m not actually that smart. and my body is too broken to work in hospitality #anymore. or is it. i mean for god’s sake i can run three times a week but i don’t trust myself to be able to stand for hours #i’m thinking about throwing myself on the mercy of my old boss like hey. i fucked up. do you have any shifts for me? i’ll do weekends #i just don’t want to lose my fucking mind #maybe i’ll text her tomorrow. the worst thing she can say is no #personal

100 days of code_ Python: Day 1 and Day 2

Obs: the int in weight I concert, but I want to sharing my erros, so it's ok.

THE SOLUTION

Yesterday I slept studying, so I put aside posting (the tumblr algorithm doesn't like this, but sometimes it will happen UHEUE)

When I bought the course, I thought. I'm going to spell it out there, Do several days of the course in one day

Reality: I like it, but at the same time I'm so bad at it UHEHUEHUEU

A part of me didn't want to share this here, show my mistakes (my vulnerability).

But neither I nor you reading this were born knowing things, I'm learning, so obviously I need to fail to improve and I hate the culture of productivity/toxic perfection.

Previously I just did the conversion from portugol to python.

It wasn't really a theory + documentation, but observation.

As I understood by observing that the Leia command in Portugol was Input to store data in variables in Python.

So it's been a good learning experience.

I would like to highlight things that I understood that I have to improve, be more attentive:

+There were times when I got lost with it doing a lot of variables and mainly using functions (in my logic exercises I didn't use much or none of the two, so I learned to deal / understand how to use it)

+ If you've read past posts, you know that I have anxiety and today I understood that it was bothering me and I wasn't even noticing. My mind was so eager to do the exercise and try it right away that I didn't pay attention to what the exercise was asking of me.

And for me when it comes to programming/problem solving you must first use rationality and not emotion.

So I started to write what was asked, I reflected and then I started to code. It will be something that I will have to develop more, even more so in a work environment. But being aware and trying to improve helps.

+I have to improve (AND A LOT) my logic of creating variables, I felt so ashamed of myself. UHEUHEUHEUEE

+ That when you are a beginner, any opportunity to practice logic should be taken advantage of.

As I explained, I did more of a conversion of my Portugol exercises than really their logic (after all, I had already done that) So now, I will always dedicate myself to thinking about each step to be taken in the construction of the algorithm.

Well, that's it for now.

I wish you are managing to deal with your studies and that you are well, drink water.
