Drunk Ryoma hijinks
#ill start this off by saying Ryoma isnt the type to drink but i think they would at least try it#and they are the lightest of weights#very emotional drunk ... hugs people#complementing people...#Ryoma admits she thinks Rohan is cute. but like a puppy 💀#and that he could totally be an idol. if only he could sing. (Rohan sings HORRIBLY hc)#but it was mixed in with compliments for other people so. didnt stand out much#ryoma sees a cat outside and starts BAWLING because its so cute#and they eventually are able to pet the cat (someone fetched it for her)#O! also. ryoma gives rohan a little cheek kiss#at some point Ryoma gets really sad and the insecurities come out but I think everyone would hype her up and that would probably make#her cry more smsbsns#gn btw.

I have to ask what drew vasco into falling in love with machete?
His snivelling runt ways were just that irresistable.
#no they were best friends first#it wasn't love at first sight#I think Vasco just gradually noticed that Machete is sincere and kindhearted and genuinely tries to be a good person#and it's hard not to appreciate that Vasco is known for having those qualities too his are just a lot more evident#he's an one person dog but when he gets attached to you he's fervently dedicated loyal caring and supportive#he's perceptive thoughtful and a good listener#sensible highly responsible and keeps his promises#does his part or dies trying even if no one is there to notice#he's learned knowledgeable and a lot more sharp-witted than people give him credit for and infodumps as a love language#their interests and ideologies overlap or at least complement each other#he has problems but really tries to do better and never takes any help he's given for granted#he always dresses well smells nice and has soft pettable fur#and he can be kind of funny and cute in his own dorky way#and Vasco sees how his presence continuously brings out the best qualities in him#and cherishes the fact he can be such a positive force in someone's life#answered#anonymous#Vaschete lore

This guy said it better than me
Carlos Sainz has conviction. He believes in his own judgment and is willing to act out and speak out on it, often contrary to what the Ferrari pit wall offers. At the same time, he isn't cocky and will respect Ferrari's team orders should the need ultimately arise. It's been twice in [the 2022] season that Carlos' blatant ignoring/disobeying of Ferrari's calls rewarded him and the team handsomely, while in contrast Leclerc, whose unwavering reliance on the team's judgment often earns him the short end of the stick. Listening to Carlos' radio, you will constantly hear him asking questions and challenging decisions. It's a hallmark of all great drivers - especially (since radio communication has been made more accessible to the audience) Lewis Hamilton, who has, on many occasions, disobeyed his team's orders to pit, ran long in the race with great pace, then put on a monster stint at the end to win. Of course his own strategy decisions backfired on him a few times (recently and notably Turkey 2021), but most of the time, between Lewis and the team, they make the right strategical decisions. Lewis acted like another voice that contributes to the strategy team, and for a group whose sole goal is to make the best strategical decision, more viewpoints is always better as it creates a clearer picture for all involved. Ferrari's strategy and race engineering teams seem to break down with every single event that necessitates some sort of quick ruthless reaction. It seems like a lost department that has zero confidence in its own decision-making skills, predictions, and data. The lack of confidence from the pit wall, though, allows Carlos to make his own decisions without strong pushback, and it has rewarded him on at least two occasions this year [2022] already. Listening to Carlos schooling his engineer with words like "Trust me", "Don't do that" etc., it seems that he has that extra dimension as a racing driver, one who can deliberate strategy and tactics while driving fast, much like Sebastian Vettel in his Ferrari days. Carlos has an inbuilt bullshit-o-meter that firmly overrides some shitty decisions Ferrari torture themselves with.
#carlos sainz jr#ex bulls who moved on to horses and had to school the horse strategy team#interesting lewis comparison. we'll have to see how lewis' year in ferrari goes#but also this proves that Ferrari can’t handle people who don’t feed their self-aggrandisation and self-delusion#pragmatism and having standards is taken as disrespect or rebelliousness#they love Charles because he’s been perfectly preconditioned and brainwashed#but actually they need an auditor and Carlos is that. he complements them and fills in their weaknesses#this redditor really called them out#scuderia ferrari#f1

The 24 Character Strengths are awesome references when writing characters!!
I've found this website to be extremely helpful and cool while fleshing out my characters' personalities and motivations.
Even if I only have basic personality traits for a character, exploring strengths that I feel fits them and reading their descriptions is fantastic for inspiration!! It really helps narrow down the basic ideals I imagine a character would believe in, and then I can get more specific from there. It's a great guide to springboard off of!
Each strength is sorted into one of six virtues. Starting with a broad virtue, for example "justice," and honing that down into the strengths of "fairness," "leadership," or "teamwork" makes writing them really fun!
Here's an example of the "fairness" strength description! Lots of detail and tangible qualities describing it!
Of course there are infinite ways to interpret a character strength, just like in real life. And people aren't always black and white and follow a strength 100% of the time. But it's been extremely helpful to see specific traits being described in so much detail, and imagining different scenarios that a character would react in. It's like I can understand them a bit more and think a little like them, especially if their trait isn't one of my personal strengths. :3
But I also recommend taking the actual personality test for yourself! I took it years ago and it was really cool to put a name to some of my strengths and see how detailed this descriptions were. And when my friends and I shared our results, I felt like we understood each other just a little more. :)
Just thought I'd share this reference that's been helping me lately :D
#I LOVE PERSONALITY TESTS!! So much!!!#I know they're not for everyone but I love understanding the people around me especially if we think super differently#ever since my dear friends introduced me to them when I was a little baby college freshman I've loved them#like I had been around almost the same people from age 5-18 so I had to expand my understanding of other people in a giant public universit#the love language test helped change my understanding of how to connect to others and made a lot of things click in my brain#I love complementing people and would feel hurt when people couldn't accept them or didn't want to#but learning that they by default receive love differently allowed me to explore other ways to express myself to them#and in turn they understood that I take the words I say seriously and they accepted that I was being authentic#one of my best friends is literally the total opposite Meyers-briggs type of me haha#but I also I share a lot of parallel traits with other best friends!#learning more about the ways people think differently from me was so eye-opening and amazing#and feeling understood by others in turn was also a new and beautiful feeling#anyway shoutout to my fellow INFPs- enneagram 9- and words of affirmation peeps out there!!!#thanks for reading hehehehe#reference#writing#personality tests#jojo rambles

official finish-this-sketch-how-you-want post idk what to call thisSAMPLE TEXT
hi! I miss drawing with people in a café and some folks mentioned they'd like to mess with my sketches themselves and that sounds cool so this is now a thing. if u play gartic phone this is basically the complement mode! but without the fucking ring noise that freaks you out right when you're getting into the flow of it
few things are 1/there's no hard deadline! take this at ur own pace if u do, but 2/I'll also be finishing this sketch and I estimate it to take around uhh 3 to 4 days? from the time this is posted. so if that's a structure u like then let's aim for something done in that timespan as well! and 3/if u finish ur piece and post it and want me to see it the best way to do that is to @ this blog! above all we go into this one determined to have fun and enjoy. I already bought u a matcha latte with oat milk sorry if u don't want that
here I got u today a sketch that's supposed to be Riz Gukgak (SY) (grey bg version and transparent version for ur ease of peruse)
remember to have fun & be urself & finish ur drink & see u in 4 or 5
#not art#technically#idk what to tag this... I was thinking sketchboom bc its like one sketch many outcomes yknow. but turns out thats already#a company or something like that. and then I thought something riffing on the complement game mode but I cant think of anything for that#can we call it Fuck With This Sketch. pros: it would be funny. cons: cant think of even a single one#sooomewhat in the realm of dtiys. more in the realm of process swap or whatever the drawing meme was that used to be a thing#where like u and two friends swap pieces inbetween every step#(which is somewhat assumptive of what the process is to be fair. I know people who run directly into a piece blocking out poses in colors#as their sketch. and then just render right on top of it. as an ink-for-lifer their process is alien to me and we are like different specie#I want this to be real freeform u can do anything to this sketch. its decently readable for being made by me I think#if there are more than one character it gets worse. or if its full body or a first sketch for a design. uve seen that basrar piece's sketch#and when I say u can do anything to this sketch I mean it. if ur thinking ''oh they didn't mention a bg or painting idk if I should--''#Stop. You Can Do What You Want Forever. seek ur truth seize ur pleasure and call me a bitch to my face#sky's the ceiling and the depths of hell is the bar. draw with me. that is what this is for#ok Im done lets go. hope u have fun with the sketch! yay! yayaya#edit: well now Ive commited to a stupid tag this is called#Fuck With My Sketch

I feel like the main reason this evil shanks theory is so prevalent (besides the private meeting the the gorsei which up even I can’t explain) is that his general cheeriness and lackadaisical disposition is more of a presented front, a mask to be slipped on and off at will which would be fine if he weren’t often put in the same boat as Roger and Luffy two people ( for as much as we know about roger) who have no masks at all.
Don’t get me wrong I’m pretty sure that Shanks is a naturally happy, good natured dude but he’s also the most politically minded pirate we have seen on the show (and some of these pirates were actual politicians) like I’m pretty sure Roger is more mature and secretive than Luffy ( makes sense he’s older and has seen more of the world) but with both of them you never get the sense that their silliness is something they are putting on for the direct purpose of making themselves less of a threat. They both can get serious when the situation calls for it but that feels more of an extension of their already established personality more than a hidden personality.
While with shanks it’s undeniable that something changed within him and his goals the day Roger died I don’t know if Roger actually told him something or if he just wasn’t dealing with the abandonment well it was probably a mix of both honestly. But yeah Shanks comes off as a guy with his ear to the ground someone who has schemes on schemes on schemes. he’s someone playing in the long run, kind of like crocodile but not nefarious. And when compared with a straight forward head first always kinda guy like Luffy, like he often is, he can come off a little suspicious.
There’s something that’s a little fake about his cheer, something a little too performative about his optimism and foolishness. I think it’s a mix of; he’s housing a deep sadness, he’s more of a realist that an optimist and also dudes just a pacifist unlike like luffy who loves to brawl ( like luffy knows when it’s better not to fight but he also loves a good fight) and he would rather deescalate a situation than fight it out and sometimes the easiest way to do that is with an air of cluelessness and making yourself seem less of a threat which makes it so much more jarring but effective when he reveals just how big a threat he is. but I can see why people think it’s suspicious.
(Interestingly even when luffy tries to emulate this behavior like when he first encountered Bellamy at the pub his plan is to just not react which while in the same vain is very different than Shanks actively playing the drunken good natured take it on the chin role for the bandits Luffy was still essentially himself he just refused to react while Shanks played a role which made it more terrifying and effective when he stopped)
Also it doesn’t help that until recently he’s largely been missing from the narrative with just a man echoing or a whisper here or there of how powerful he is.
But I think we should remember that Shank’s goal is essentially world peace. and peace, a true lasting peace, is just a little more of a precarious balancing act, than utmost freedom. For freedom you have to destroy the old game, for peace you have to learn to play a new one, hopefully with a bit more kindness injected into the foundation.
#he’s a schemer and people don’t trust schemers I get it#shanks is basically playing the game of thrones#except he wishes to abolish the system but he does understand that a new one has to take its place#preferably one where the strong protect the weak#which is much different from Luffy’s brand of selfish heroism that is very based on friendship#luffy’s a bull dozer while shanks is an architect#so they complement each other pretty well actually#red hair shanks#also the people luffy saves are his friends he loves them and treats them like friends#the people Shanks saves are just people he cares about their well being and doesn’t want to see them hurt#but it’s more of a sheep protector dog and it’s flock than the relationships built on pure friendships luffy forms#throwing thoughts to the void#all this to say taht I don’t believe Shanks is secretly eveil is going to be the twist I just think he’s a complicated dude#who gets grouped in a lot with a bunch of straight forward optimists#I think he’s just realized that Roger was waiting for something and so he’s waiting for it too. I think he’s only now really realizing that#that thing he was waiting for is Luffy.#akagami no shanks#red haired shanks#red haired pirates#monkey d luffy#one piece#gol d. roger#gol d roger#monkey d. luffy#op#one piece theory#one piece thoughts#one piece world government#shanks op#straw hat luffy

aro papyrus warrior forever..... however. papyton doth compel me
#it's one of those ships where like. i CAN very clearly see the appeal and how they would work well together and complement one another#both as people and as characters with their own individual arcs. but there's just so little material of them interacting in the canon#that my brain doesn't have a lot of Things to latch onto when i think about them#but lo and behold. robot x engineer fixing him up sharing a private moment of vulnerability#is a mental image that NEVER disappoints#so I'm rotating them in my brain

I just wanna gush bc omg I love the 666 series so much. I think it made me realize I might be... furry-ish? adjacent? I just find it so satisfying how you go into detail about the unique body features of both of them, the way it feels to have deer ears or kiss a TV and just generally how much thought is put into the way their bodies work, and I've realized that my interest in that kind of idea is a pretty good reason to partake in more explicitly furry media lmao. Anyways
I'm also really in love with how you maintain the balance of each of their personality traits. Vox is simultaneously so pathetic and cringefail (also your dialogue for him is perfect, I can hear it crystal clear in my head) but also he has vastly more emotional intelligence than Alastor, no doubt at least in part because he has to deal with Val, and he's able to marginally calm down with his obsession to deal with sticky situations, but even then he still retains his personality and bumbles things sometimes because of the flaws in said personality! It's great. I also really appreciate the balance you've struck with Alastor, I feel like often Alastor is either written to either soften up so immediately that it feels disconnected from his character or is written overly mean and heartless for my liking and the way you've written him is such a delicious balance between softer aspects such as the prey instincts or moments of vulnerability and his untouchable and manipulative self, and also the way this side of him is neither written as wholly a front or wholly his real nature and the complex ways this makes him struggle with his increasing vulnerability. TL;DR arghgr your characterization is so good it makes me go a little feral
Also while I'm here, I'm curious whether you can give an answer to the degree to which Alastor is touch-averse. There's obviously a lot of ways in which he fundamentally dislikes touch but it also seems like there's at least some kinds of touch where he doesn't dislike the touch itself so much as he's afraid of the way it brings about feelings of caring and/or enjoyment being cared for. I'm curious how much, in general, you would say his touch aversion comes from either cause and possibly what kinds of touch do/don't provoke those flavors of aversion
Omg, what a lovely ask to receive. Honestly, everything you said that you enjoy about how I characterize these two is very much what I've been actively gunning for, so it's an absolute delight to see it outlined back to me. Success!!! Thank you so much!
And ahaha - I'm not a furry but I fucking love inhuman characters. Being raised in the pits of Homestuck fantroll RP made me enjoy the whole "they're bug/fish aliens" thing and it definitely rears its head again any time I encounter characters with inhuman qualities. I love writing Vox's TV/computer-ness and Alastor's deer and radio bits, and integrating them into who they now are as people.
As for Alastor's touch-aversion: It's funny that you ask about this, because the next chapter of 666 is going to dive into it a bit. Specifically into the fact that it's not, like, a set of boundaries that is consistently defined, and I write him that way on purpose. The very first time he and Vox sleep together, Alastor bottoms. He becomes significantly less amenable to touch after he goes through an uncomfortable rut cycle that gets sexual. By the time Vox convinces Alastor to fuck him, Alastor would never let Vox do that again and frankly only agrees to topping because Vox gave him an option that didn't involve getting his dick out. Then in the next episode, they're having clothes-off sexual contact. So, what gives?
Things that play into Alastor's willingness to touch and be touched as far as Vox is concerned:
How does he see Vox at that point in time? Disgustingly entitled (ew)? Hilariously beneath him (haha who cares)?
Does he care about what Vox thinks of him? Does Vox touching him draw his attention to positive or negative assumptions he has about Vox's perspective on doing so?
What value has he attached to this particular touch in the power balance of their relationship? Is he humoring Vox? Does he assume Vox thinks he's owed this? Does he perceive it as something Vox is genuinely doing for him?
Has he tried this particular kind of touch before? He's pretty willing to experiment, but that doesn't mean he'll do something twice without a compelling reason if he didn't like it the first time.
Is he getting off on this situation sexually? If so, is it fully willing (read: not a byproduct of uncomfortable hormones) on his part? That only really happens when he's in a submissive role and Vox is hitting a few very specific kinks, a major one of which is basically CNC tilted 30 degrees to the left.
Is he enjoying the touch in platonic ways? How does he feel about that? Is it a vulnerability to want something? Is it feeding his ego to be catered to? Is he worried that what he enjoys platonically is being read into in ways he doesn't like?
Is he fucking drunk? Things that bother you when sober often seem like a non-issue when you're not, both on a physical and emotional level.
How much touching has been happening recently? Has he hit his limit? Did he deliberately put himself into a situation earlier to have his limit be hit and surpassed, and now he's in the aftermath?
He does have a certain fundamental purely physical dislike of touch, but it's something that is really affected by how he perceives each individual situation as well as his relationship with Vox at that time, and his previous experiences!
#ask#personal#Anonymous#t#hazbin hotel#my writing#666 live on air#I'm not a furry but the perils of being agender aromantic and asexual#aka the full complement of “none of the above” box checks LOL#means that a lot of the time I feel vaguely detached from the ways people tend to even subconsciously define humanity#I think that's where a lot of my appreciation for inhuman traits in very human characters comes from#(also my favorite SFF genre is “non-human entity struggles with very human emotions” as well a la murderbot and imperial radsch)#(ANYWAY. tangent.)#long post

I find it deeply aesthetically pleasing, character-wise, that Arthur and Merlin are both very much like their mothers, which is especially meaningful in Arthur's case since he's never known his mother beyond a single painfully brief meeting in "Sins of the Father."
Not only does Arthur look like Ygraine (which adds several layers to the clusterfuck of his and Uther's relationship) but it's clear that he takes after her temperament, too. Yes, he sometimes shows his father's temper, and yes, he does stupid things when he's in a temper, but unlike Uther, who literally took his prejudices to his grave and beyond, Arthur never stays mad at people, and he's overall a far more caring and kind person than his father, which is an interesting case of nature vs nurture.
And then on the other hand, we have Hunith, who told a mounted, armed brigand to go fuck himself, later fought another (also armed) brigand with a twig broom, harboured fugitives on multiple occasions, and raised an illegal magic child out of wedlock, and Merlin "Fuck the Police" Ambrosius, who got in a fistfight, got thrown in jail for the fistfight, called the prince a bitch to his face in a public market square, got in a second, armed fight all within his first 48 hours in Camelot, and then committed treason on a daily basis for the next 10+ years, compared to Balinor, who became a weird antisocial hermit that lived in a cave for twenty years.
couldn't have said it better myself bestie
also, there's a reason hunith and ygraine never met in the show. their dynamic duo would outshine everyone, they'd be unstoppable, untouchable, I FEEL ROBBED
#ahem anyway#yes they do take after their mothers and yes this does provide insight in how merlin and arthur complement one another#and like i just have such a soft heart at the thought of arthur wanting to know about his mother and asking the staff what he can#maybe he asks the older knights who treat him like a nephew they never had and one of the most common thing they'll say is#“ygraine was kind and cared for her people”#“ygraine was not one to abandon the needy when times got tough”#“ygraine saw her role as monarch as one of service and not greed for power”#and mini arthur internalized that shit i accept NO criticism#merlin was a total mama's boy as we all saw and she had him drinking that anarchy juice since he was small#hunith was merlin's first hero and fuck i'm crying#bye i'm too soft for this#bbc merlin#headcanons#arthur pendragon#merlin emrys#hunith#ygraine#hunith & ygraine would have totally wreaked some shit if they ever met i assure you it is a CRIME (to me) THAT SUCH A DUO NEVER *gunshots*

Pod Meets World watching 5x13: I don't really understand what the end of the B storyline was supposed to be saying? Was the lesson Jack & Eric learned the wrong lesson from the girls? It makes not a ton of sense...huh...

He's a Beautiful Butterfly!

Love me some uncanny HC designs#I also do want to reflect on the fact that initially I was like 'Dang his esteem is so low - he should be genuinely monstrous.'#then i realized 'oh god he's just like me for real (grew up ugly and unwanted and now can't reconcile with being Not That as an adult)'.#Growing up pretty privilege is not doubting what the hell people mean by complementing you. just saw your latest oc template post for david and it was so wild seeing your tags about how he's been an oc for nearly a decade because i ran into david via your hamlet comics in high school while we were doing hamlet!! and that was uhhh also nearly a decade ago so it's kinda crazy to learn that those two events happened so close to each other! i think there's been some weird coincidences too, like i had a first year uni essay on "o what a rogue and peasant slave am i", and you published your comic for that monologue around the same time. reading your comic blew my mind made the experience of writing that essay so much richer! i really do have to thank you for it. it's been a real joy to see your art for the past few years!!
:O!! the stars aligned... what a lovely coincidence! while the monologue comic was created for a competition, i'm really happy to hear it contributed to your essay writing process :,D
#thanks for the ask!#and thank you for sticking around#i cherish messages like this.. delighted that my near decade long hamlet brainrot complemented people's enjoyment of the play
