When i moved into my new place there was mint planted directly into the flower bed which had grown out of control as it is an invasive plant. I spent about 5 hours digging it out and repotting it. there was more than i could pot so i froze and dried some too!!

the dried mint was the first thing i have added to my little apothecary and i’m very happy with it.

i gifted 3 pots to family and have kept the rest!

Named after the Water Nymph, Minthe which was super exciting when i moved in as i felt much closer to my Gods almost like a sign!!

Magical properties of mint:

so far i’ve included :

•rose quartz, clear quartz, and amethyst- my personal favorites

•turquoise (her favorite) moon earrings i found in a small shop one day

•tons of spell candles & matches- featuring bonus candles in her favorite color

•rosemary (of course) & cinnamon sticks

•some homemade essential oil rollers- each color is a different blend with a unique purpose

•adorable tarot cards i stumbled upon that are perfect for her that include a guidebook

•moon water from the super blue moon

•a really nifty glass bottle i found at the dollar store

she and i talked at length about what she felt drawn to, and this just felt like a fun way to get her started. a lot of this stuff i just happened to have already! i want to put together a list of celestial events & simmer pot recipes, maybe some other small rituals. i can’t wait to see what her practice grows into & where it takes her!

Commemorating 10 days until autumn/fall equinox in a solarpunk way! Taking 2 hours of train and bus to plant lettuce, couve (kale maybe for you in other places), broccoli, radishes and cilantro/coriander in a communal garden that provide vegetables to a solidarity kitchen. The idea is to provide at least 1 full meal to people around the kitchen that need a meal that day and can't afford one.

Don't know if I already talked about this here. But even though is a Sunday and I come back very tired of this work, at the same time it really give energy back to me to keep doing the work that needs to be done now to make things better someway.

Maybe soon more news about these babies in the ground

Ok this is gonna be the wildest question imagineable and its for a story I'm writing.

Picture there's a zombie virus outbreak. The apocalypse happens. Instead of a large united country, you have different small communities scattered around, little to no communication across said communities.

One of these communities is more solarpunk. What would you expect them to have? How would you expect them to run?

My story centers around a researcher who was living on his own until he's brought into this society to help with their research attempts on a solution to the virus, so that's sort of the Main Focus. But what all would be reasonable to expect to see in a story like this?

Next—Soup Kitchen Farm

In 1999 another farm took shape on Detroit’s lower east side, the Earthworks Urban Farm. For years the monks at the Capuchin Mission have run a community soup kitchen that serves about 2000 meals-a-day, and they needed to supplement the donated food with fresh produce, so the farm was born on a couple of vacant neighborhood lots. Since that time, the farm has grown to cover parts of several city blocks, and has become a very productive venture. Patrick Crouch, the Earthworks Farm manager, says that in 2008, with only 2 weeks of picking, the farm harvested 200 lbs of asparagus from the recently added patch. And, on a single July day, the farm produced 150 lbs of green beans. Earthworks Farm also markets its own jams, honey, and hand-balm, all made on the farm.

Crouch tells visitors how the farm is trying to develop a new model of helping feed urban residents by having as many people as possible who are serviced by the soup kitchen working on the farm. The farm is also developing a couple of different programs involving young people in the growing, harvesting, and marketing of farm produce with the goal of helping to “create new, young leaders of communities.” Crouch dreams of new ways to get healthy, local produce out to the community, for instance, by developing bicycle-powered mobile sales stands. In recognition of all this good work, this past February, Earthworks Farm was selected as one of the top ten producing urban farms in the country by Natural Home magazine.
