Address: Greater Sydney Area, Australia
Sarah Rowan is an artist and thought-leader who empowers individuals and organisations to ignite a better future through creativity. As one of Australia’s top Speed Painters, she has lived and breathed the dynamic process of transformation for over 20 years, turning blank walls and cavasses into thought-provoking pieces of art, with limited time and often in front of a live audience. Merging her artistic talent with her passion for public speaking, Sarah has reimagined the role of the artist, pushing the boundaries of a studio-based pursuit into a trail-blazing performance genre that challenges the limitations of time and space.
After graduating from Converse College in 2003 with a BFA in Studio Art, Sarah started an art business in Greenville, South Carolina, USA before moving to Sydney to expand her horizons. It was here that she used the process of creative futurism to overcome depression, challenge chronic illness and create a new future for herself and her family. No longer shackled by societal norms, she has stepped into the full power of her truth personally and professionally.
Sarah’s strong emotional storytelling, along with her ability to paint fast and think fast has captivated hundreds of clients like Google, ANZ, AMP, Hewlett Packard, Beam Suntory, Mi9, The Salvation Army and the Business Chamber of NSW. She has inspired audiences to embrace their own creativity which she believes is a ""birthright to all” and to date has painted at over 400 events raising over $200,000 for charity.

👁 CUSTOM EYE PAINTING COMMISSIONS 👁
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Realised I'm gonna have too much month at the end of my money, BUT I have time to take on a handful of eye commissions - something I've not offered publicly for over a year!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I WILL PAINT:
your favourite F1 or sports person; Star Trek or Good Omens characters; your favourite film or TV show blorbo(s); yourself and/or your partner/friend/family member etc; in short, any eye you fancy!
I REQUIRE:
clear reference(s) that include the whole eye & eyebrow — ideally high res or close-ups if from TV/film, multiple references are always helpful if it's a person/character I'm not familiar with. I'm always down to help find references!
if taking your own references, please use the back camera (rather than selfie camera) of your phone, and take pictures in natural light (stand near a window ideally)
YOU WILL RECIEVE:
the physical painting AND a digital copy for personal use (as an icon, etc although I appreciate credit if posting online).
Paper options:
2.5 x 3.75" rectangle on smooth (hot press) or lightly textured (cold press) paper
approx. 3.5" square on smooth (hot press) or lightly textured (cold press) paper
custom size paper if you have a miniature frame/locket/etc you'd like to fill (I will paint to a rectangle/square size and you can trim the painting to fit)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: cold press (textured) subtle natural paper texture shows up watercolour granulation better. Right: hot press (smooth) gives smoother washes.
All paintings created using professional grade watercolours with a high lightfastness.
PRICE:
1 eye - £15 (plus shipping)
discounts available for sets of 2/3/4/etc
payment required upfront before I start work on your painting
payment via PayPal
TURNAROUND TIME:
on average 1-2 weeks, although provided I have the free time I usually get them done within a couple days and sent out within a week. Feel free to ask if you have a specific deadline and I'll see what I can do
SHIPPING:
paintings will be shipped as a 'large letter' meaning shipping costs should be reasonable (on average £5 - £8, but actual cost depends on your country). Happy to ship internationally wherever I'm able. I am based in the UK.
TO ORDER:
shoot me a message (DM) on here!
ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS:
comment or send me a message/ask!
PLEASE NOTE:
these paintings work slightly differently to traditional commissions in that, since it normally takes me one sitting to paint them, I won't be asking for approval after every step. Instead it works as follows:
We decide on an eye and find references; confirm paper, colour palette, etc
I do the rough pencil sketch and show you to confirm
I paint the eye
Ta-dah! You recieve your painting

Fabre d’Eglantine picks a fight with a commissioner (and is possibly imprisoned, again)
During the travels of Fabre in his youth, he settled for a while in Sedan, where he tried to make money as a painter. The case of one unfortunate commission of M. Devos led to serious legal issues over the assigned painting, and yes, this story is hilarious.
One day, it was in Sedan, around 1780, he painted a certain Sieur Devos, a merchant's clerk, who had promised him a miniature for this portrait, just 24 francs. When the painting is finished, Mr. Devos refuses to pay the price, on the pretext that the portrait does not resemble and cannot please the tender lover for whom he intends it. He will therefore go to court, and the trial allows Fabre d'Eglantine to write a memoir against the sieur Devos, merchant clerk, in which he finds himself, not on the equal of Beaumarchais fighting Gœzman, but of a still very remarkable verve , the whole spirit of the playwright.
Fabre d'Églantine a la comédie française, lecture faite a la aéance annuelle de la société de l'histoire de la révolution, on 14th march 1897
Fabre therefore lists all the demands of his commissioner in the petty memoirs, and he will use this writing in court against Devos. The list includes demands such as: painting the model’s hair brown (but powdered to blond) instead of his natural ginger, covering the smallpox spots on his face, reducing the redness of his complexion, using a very specific shade of grey for his coat and making him look joyful. It seems, however, that Fabre (intending it or not) did not satisfy the expectations of his commissioner. Example given, Devos is not pleased with Fabre using the colour red on his painting (despite it being necessary in realistic portraits) and argues that his face looks too blushy.
“When Mr. Devos saw me dip my brush in the colour red - Is it, he asked me, to colour the cheeks that you take this vermilion? - No, sir, I replied, it's to line your eyes. – Ah! my God, please don't redden my eyelids! My custom is not to have them like this! It will pass! “
Fabre d'Églantine, Mémoire contre le sieur Devos
Another complaint followed the “tricolour hair” Fabre made his model wear, but a real issue seems to be his reckless expression on the portrait. At some point Devos claims that Fabre makes him look too serious for a miniature that will be given to a lady.
- "Ah! I understand you. You would like to have a laughing mouth, to have a jolly air, an air...
-"Yes, precisely, those airs which interest the fair sex.”
[...]
"Always complacent, I made Sieur Devos laugh, in spite of nature; but I did not expect that it would be at my expense!"
Fabre d'Églantine, Mémoire contre le sieur Devos
We do not know if the trial ended well for Fabre, according to this source analysing the situation and Fabre’s memoirs, it is truly unknown. On the other hand, Roussel, (Fabre’s contemporary and friend who included his short biography in the first volume of his published love letters to Marie Joly) claims that Devos succeeded to have Fabre arrested and imprisoned, and that Fabre managed to escape and find refuge in Liège. In his defence we can also add that the portrait was shown to officers in Sedan, who recognized Devos on it without issue.

New commission prices and info for my charms and miniature paintings!
As you can see I love to paint cute animals wearing vintage clothes! I can also do other subjects, but that is my specialty. I especially love to paint opossums!
I also sell some on my Etsy (Link here: X) and you can commission me there as well, but the price of my Etsy commissions is higher because of Etsy's fees.
You can find more examples of my work by checking out my profile, here or on Instagram (Link here: X) :) if you like it, I hope you will consider commissioning your own handmade & handpainted miniature!
As previous clients and followers can see, there has been a slight change in prices, so I want to address it. This is because I am now not in the position to find a job (as I also will be starting beauty school soon) so my only income will be from Etsy sales and commissions, as well as other occasional online work. The lower prices I had before were mostly covering for the material needed to make my miniatures (and press on nails), meaning my profit was very negligible. I still did my best to keep it accessible, within reason. I hope you will be understanding of this 🙏.
If you have received a discount for me I will of course still accept it, but I will be a bit more sparing for now in giving out new ones.
If I manage, I'm hoping to make more Pride themed charms/miniatures soon 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ which will be shown here and also be on my Etsy.

I have made an addition to the commission page today. As well as adding in some more recent pictures, I had added Tournament standard to the list. This is a most basic painting scheme aimed at those who want to play in tournaments but cannot be bothered to paint thier army, or who want it doing super quick.
Here are the details:
Tournament minimums are three colours and bases, so this is what this tier gets. Three colours and basing. Price will vary depending on how many miniatures need doing and what minatures they are. Cost for infantry/troops will be from £1 per model. Larger miniatures will cost more. If you want to try out the new ‘hot thing’, this is the scheme for you.
Here are some examples I have done recently:
=
It’s basic, and quick – perfect if you need miniatures doing swiftly in time for the tournament at the weekend!
As always, feel free to get in touch if you are interested.

Peahen Painting Commissions by Artemis P. Fowl
Have you ever wanted a peahen to paint you a picture? Have I got some good news for you! Artemis here is opening limited-slot commissions for a painting made by her very own peet (peahen feet)!
Details and pricing for her 2022 run are below the cut.
Please read everything before messaging!
DETAILS
There will be 10 commission slots available. These will be the only commission slots available in 2022. We may do paintings for ourselves or others, but they would be sold as-is.
*NEW* Slots are no longer limited to 1 per person, but will be completed according to which are already paid.
Artemis will be bathed and diapered before beginning (so the painting will be clean), and bathed afterward (so she will be clean).
Base commission canvas size is 16x20, and the cost is included. We are happy to use any size canvas, but you will then be responsible for paying the price difference.
We are using Tempera paint, since it is non-toxic and washes off the bird completely, which means that we are somewhat limited in the colors we can use; you can preview Tempera paint colors online to determine what we may have access to. When you contact me, you will be asked what color(s) you want, so please have some idea before messaging.
You may choose up to 3 colors at no increase in cost, but you are not required to choose 3. You can choose just 1 or 2 if you want, or 3 shades of the same color.
*NEW* We now have access to blue or green glow-in-the-dark paint and for an additional charge we can mix it into another color or have her leave a few “secret” footprints over the top of the painting so that they glow when the lights go out.
Paint colors will mostly be mixed up as in the above examples, but we’re happy to take directions like “mainly purple with a little pink” or similar. We can include one (1) pure color (the first color down) for no extra charge.
The paintings will be sealed with mod podge spray because that is what the internet said was safe to use with Tempera.
Each painting will come “signed” with one of Artemis’ own feathers in the lower right corner. You will get a preview image of your painting without the feather, so that you can choose the orientation before the feather is attached (you are also welcome to let us choose what we think looks best).
Each painting will come with a printed card of authenticity that is dated and numbered (#X of X, 2022), with information about Artemis and the painting. These will vary in appearance by year!
I will send you a digital photo of Artemis P. Fowl standing beside her creation (like the above examples), and possibly in-progress shots if I have patient help during the process.
I may place a few smaller canvases around the bigger ones while we work, to create miniature side pieces that will be unique and NOT have prints made (and also because she’s always getting paint on the floor anyway when she steps off). Price will vary by piece but be discounted to the commissioner before they go to market. Please ask in advance if you think you might want one to go with your main piece, because I will forget otherwise.
PRICING
Each base commission will be a flat cost of $120 shipped. This covers the time to give Artemis baths before and after, setup/teardown of the workspace, actual painting time, treats for Artemis, curing/sealing work and materials, one 16x20 canvas, paint up to 3 colors mixed, packing material, shipping cost in the continental US, drive time to the PO, and PayPal fees.
Again, a larger canvas will cost more to purchase as well as to ship. A larger canvas may also increase significantly in cost if it will take us more than one session to complete.
Additional colors beyond the first 3 will be $2/each. Glow-in-the dark paint use will be $5/ea.
Special requests which require additional time and stress (for both me and Artemis) may cost extra. For example: if you want multiple pure colors (footprints that are a single color, not mixed), that will require drying the painting at least some, and extra baths, so would be charged per-color. I reserve the right to decline any special request if it is something we cannot do or that I think would stress Artemis too much and as such, any special request must be made before payment is settled.
Payment must be made before the painting begins, and is not refundable once the painting has been painted.
Extra Information/Disclaimers
Because I am working with a live animal, I cannot guarantee that paintings are free of pet dander/dust or waste. Artemis does get bathed before and after, but birds are constantly shedding feather sheaths and feather particulate, and while she is diapered and as clean as I can get her, she’s still painting with her feet.
Because I am working with a live animal who has sharp toes, your canvas may have indentations or small punctures. So far we’ve managed to avoid punctures except one small one in a corner, which I patched with paint, but you should be aware of the possibility. If a painting is badly damaged, like with a visible hole, I will start over at no cost to you.
Because I am working with a live animal, I cannot guarantee where the paint goes on the canvas. She walks where she wants to go, and while I can try to tempt her in certain directions with treats, Artemis will do what she wants. The most control I have is if you want a sparsely-printed work, I can end the session after a little while, if you want a densely-printed work, I can let her keep walking around, and I can usually get her to leave some white space to create shapes. I can’t promise what shapes.
Because we are using Tempera paints to keep Artemis safe, the painting may be sensitive to light or water damage if placed in a sunny location or if it gets wet. I WILL seal the paintings before mailing, but you should be aware of the material limitations of your piece due to the nature of its creation, and plan accordingly.
Tempera paint has a long cure time (supposedly??). I will be letting them set and dry for at least 2 weeks, at which point I will seal them and let the seal set for another 2 weeks. After the seal has cured, I will be taking them to be photographed for prints (which means you will also be waiting for all of the paintings to be done, so I don’t have to pay for the photography more than once), and then I will add the signature feather, package them for mailing, and send them all out. I will communicate with you along the way, but be prepared to be patient, you will likely get the painting in May, 2022.
I will be making prints of all of the commissions, and the patterns will be offered on items in Artemis’ Redbubble shop. You will receive the original, but this does not extend licensing for similar use to you.
All of the money received from this endeavor goes straight back into use for the birds. It is used to pay for things like their staple chow, scratch grains, treats, bedding, toys, and associated costs like lumber and fencing for improving or expanding their pens. This particular set of commissions will still be going toward building a protected outdoor flight pen off of our barn, so that Stan and Artemis will have access to outside without having to be supervised or moved into an old pen. Any leftover will spill into their feed fund.
If you are interested in commissioning Artemis, please send me an ask, tumblr message, discord message (Kedreeva#4912), or email me (preferred!) at ItamashiiSparkle at gmail dot com. I will ask you to move to email eventually, in order to keep track, so it’s best if you can start there.

About commissions
If you would like to support me - https://boosty.to/dontyoubelieveinfairies
Current situation with payment - due to the war and sanctions my PayPal account stopped working, and boosty is my only option now.
Hello, I'm Kat, I paint miniatures, and it's about time I do a commissions info post. First of all - commissions are open from now and into the foreseeable future, because this is my only income (due to a mental condition I'm unable to maintain regular job), so feel free to write to me anytime.
 - The working process itself is not a very quick one - it usually takes a week or so only to find a suitable stone and have it delivered, if needed, and the painting process in some cases can take a week itself - it's done in layers with varnish taking 24 hours to dry. And then here comes the time of anticipation and anxiety - international delivery (I live in Russia by the way).
 - It's hard to calculate a precise price list, because it can range a lot depending on the size (from a bead to a decorative slice, or things like stone boxes or hand mirrors), a stone's cost (some are pretty cheap and easy to find, like agate slices, others are generally pricier, like labradorites), and additional elements (settings, beads, etc.). So it will usually be somewhere in-between 30-70$ for a piece, depending on what you have in mind.
 - I tend to wander off with ideas and imagery, so you can give me the abstract prompts, and feel free to bring me back on this planet if I'll get inventive in a wrong direction (I probably will. Sorry).
That's about it? Feel free to ask anything, and you're welcome!
