And here is my finished "Palace of Medusa" based on the artwork of the same name by @patrickjjonesillustrator sculpted by the team @mindwork.studio I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it! Painting this was quite possibly the most work I have ever done on a piece, with numerous layers going into each element and glazing to try to get as much depth as I could without making it look overdone. I loved the original and wanted to show it while amplifying the colour so it could be seen at its smaller scale, which proved to be quite challenging! I really hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do and I also hope that it might get some sort of achievement at the @qld_model_hobbies_expo in August, so if you are in the Brisbane area and are attending the event you can see this amazing piece as well as some of my other works in person! On the 14th of January 2023, I was fortunate enough to take part in my first-ever painting class led by the talented Natalia Oracz @oracz.art at Irresistible Force @irresistible_force_games in Tanah Merah. We were instructed on the fundamentals of miniature painting, from the power of sketching and colour theory to manipulating a static sculpture with skin tones and subtle highlights and shadows. On top of that, Natalia taught us the finer details of the craft, from painting hair to the intricacies of NMM. Not only was Natalia an excellent teacher, but she was also incredibly supportive of each member of the class, regardless of their skill level. She was generous with her time and knowledge, and I was able to gain a lot of insight into the miniature painting world. I was also lucky enough to meet some amazing artists in the class, including @mischa_paints_minis, @mascott.miniatures, @josh_underhill8, and @seonavanderpol. I highly recommend giving their accounts a follow if you're interested in miniature painting. Finally, I'd like to extend my thanks to Natalia, her partner, Trent, and the team at Irresistible Force for organizing and hosting the class. I had an amazing time, and I won't hesitate to recommend or take one of Natalia's classes again in the future. Here is the fairy/fae from a little while back, this one was a lot of new stuff to me, working out how to get the feathers right and then the reflections of light, and making the fairy look supernatural but not enough to have it look out of place, incorporating the actual piece of branch and then making the branch of the sculpt fit in and look the same, I hope everyone likes it!!! took a little break from the fairy to visit Andrew and the team at Warhammer Mt. Gravatt over the weekend and picked up the 'Mini of the month' the Cadian Shock Trooper, I keep forgetting how small the humans are compared to everything else! I surprised myself with how much detail I got into him, and how fine I was able to do the linework, I think he turned out pretty good.... What do you think? Sorry for the quietness, when it rains it pours.... except anywhere near this house for some reason, anyway!
