Krang Will Rise
I have a couple theories, regarding the Krang.
There is such little evidence for it, that I don’t even think there’s evidence against it. But hear me out.
I think only Krang prime can abolish mystics. It’s not an ability tied to every Krang, only to him.
Thé Krang value strength above all else, putting no remorse into losing those deemed weak. As such, wouldn’t that make Krang Prime, their leader, the strongest? And what better way to deem yourself the strongest than carrying a unique ability that takes away your enemies greatest potential threat.
Another reason: it seems there are three types of krang. The biotech, the warrior, and the interrogator. I’m not sure how much they overlap, but I do think they carry specialities. Given krang brother is most often asked to- spread their krangness. He is responsible for krangification, domain expansion, and manipulating the technology they have (Nevermind how all these abilities make him the perfect match for Donnie)(also think Krang Brother is mute). Krang sister is the most skilled and best fighter. I’m sure she outclasses the boys in that regard. I’d go as far to say she’s second in command, leading the charge while brother krang stays behind (her role as commander matches as Commander O’Niels opposite in war, hence their quarrel). Leaving Krang Prime, who has the ability to dig into a persons mind, manipulate their captives, control the hive mind, and abolish mystic powers. Perhaps rare amongst Krang, this makes them the perfect leader (do I even need to explain why he’s Leo’s main antagonist, his opposite in every way?).
I mentioned how krang brother is likely responsible for krangification, which leads me to a second point. Clearly, from the start of the invasion to the end in the bad timeline, the krangs numbers increased 100 fold. From 3 lone survivors to hundreds if not more. Which has led me to wonder how krang are created. I have two theories: 1) in the bad timeline, the krang in the prison dimension didn’t die. Meaning that when Leo grabbed the key in the movie, and altered time, the resulting explosion caused the krang to be wiped out. 2) the probably more likely one- they repopulated.
Thé krang are clearly parasitic creatures. Meaning their reproduction is likely from a source, that source being humans. “Recreating this world in the image of krang.” Krang possession is simple, and any krang can do it, latch a bit of themselves to a human and start the battle of wills. Krang dogs are amother easier way to make more, a quick process that mangles the hosts body. We see this happen with the foot clan. But if you want powerful krang, with no chance to turn on you, and to truly become one with krang, you transform them.
Raph was found in a bubble. In a slimy krang cocoon stuck to the ceiling and filled with glowing yellow goop. He was going to be turned, transformed into Krang. And he was going to be powerful, his source material being stronger than most. He was- until the process was interrupted. Notice how the krangification didn’t come from the outside, it wasn’t attached, it was growing inside him. And, unlike the other krangified peoples we saw, his eye turned purple. It wasn’t just covered in hoop with the yellow hive mind eye, it was purple. Let it be a testament to Raphs inner strength cause he very well may have accomplished a feat deemed impossible to overcome. The process wasn’t supposed to be reversible, he wasn’t supposed to be able to break free, he was krang now. Krang Prime could feel his struggle, sense his resistance, and hear his thoughts as the turtle fought it off.
Once you turned, there was no going back. You were krang. Your old life didn’t matter. Your old friends didn’t matter. You had a new family. A new purpose to fulfill. New powers to explore. And given treasures for the hunt. The mark of a krang and a fucking massive piece of armor. This way of reproduction was useful when hunting new prey, as their knowledge of the species past through, truly allowing them to know their enemies and conquer planets. Krang can never die.
Then again. I could be wrong.

It was once thought that the blessed sap of the Erdtree would drip from its boughs forever but that age of plenty swiftly came to a close, and with time, the Erdtree became more an object of faith.

Commander Niall is actually named Commander Neil, and Niall is just how they pronounce his name up north. Commander O’Neil is his grandson.

Commander O'Neil an ER boss I remember pretty vividly due to my friends trouble with them and dealing with the boss overall. A fun creation to design though both Commander's were relatively enjoyable fights for me. Now you can throw them into your fights as leaders in your TTRPG battles!

Inspired by a meme from Medievalist matt on Instagram. Immediately thought of O' Neil. Never drawn him before(drew his cousin), gave me a excuse.
I usually don't trace but the unintentional big hand from Patches made me have to trace over inventory to fill missing parts.

the weight of a new world, taken off your shoulders
Seeing ghosts Casey JR, anybody?
I'm going to go through and edit this tmr before it goes up on ao3 so do note this was written entirely on a phone at 1:45 am in the morning.
~~~
The katana is like ice in his hands.
At first, the thoughts don't come.
And then, because he’s Casey Jones JR and everything that he can't show safely outside tends to spiral tenfold inside, his head becomes a steady stream of he’s dead he’s dead he’s dead he’s–
The katana is like ice in his hands.
He knows that ice is good for taking someone out of a panic attack quickly. Even if it’s nothing close to a permanent block, it can give the person time to escape to a location where it's safe enough to let their guard down.
But it’s not ice against his palms, it’s still that damn katana.
Fleeting memories come to him all at once. Ones of gripping his mother’s nonexistent hand while staring emptily at the remains of a building. Ones of large, scaly fingers belonging to a long dead man guiding him through basic katas. Ones of a voice that’d been buried months ago telling him why his grapple hadn't quite worked.
The feeling of ice.
When he looks back down at the katana, the reflection that stares back at him isn't his greasy, tear-stained face or even the crisp white of his mask.
No.
When he looks back down at the katana, it’s his Sensei’s caring gaze that greets him, a steadying burn-ridden hand on his lower back, a fluttering and flickering warmth dancing across his limbs, a black-wrapped five-fingered hand squeezing his wrist.
“C’mon, Case,” the soft voice of Master Michelangelo coaches, “just a little bit longer. It’ll all be over soon.”
He can't place the distance between him and the voice, so he leans back and slightly towards the right where Master Donatello’s steadying palm rested and tucked himself into the space between his Master’s plastron and the beginnings of where cold, metal implants rested along his arm.
He didn't want the apparitions to go away. Not yet.
“You’ve got a war to finish, Junie,” Master Leonardo’s voice rings through his head. “C’mon, go and earn yourself that happy ending. After all you’ve done, you deserve it more than anyone.”
The nickname he never thought he’d hear again resonates with the desperate part of his brain and for the first time in years, he allows himself to let out an unbridled, messy sob.
He doesn't register the sound of the katana clattering to the floor. It doesn't matter, the ice remains in his hands as he wraps both arms around his long-dead Master’s metal-plated scales.
“Don’t go away again,” he pleads, like a coward, like a child.
(He’d been nearing his 14th birthday when he got sent back. According to the callendar, it was still months away in this timeline. Not that it mattered much at that point, the ghosts had been left abandoned in a wasteland and all who would celebrate with him chose to join the ghosts in the end.)
“Oh you’ll never lose us, baby,” Commander O’Neil sighs, crouching slightly to meet his gaze despite the limits of her always being the tallest (human) in the room and the rubble she was standing on being slightly higher than where he and Master Donatello stood.
This close, at even level, he finally could see the youth laced into every bone. She wasn't like Splinter or any of the other adults Casey had met today. There was this glimmer of something in her eye that spoke of never getting enough time.
He thinks of the April he met today. The vibrancy of her spunky attitude and the confidence laced into her every word.
Before, that's how he would have described Commander O’Neil, too. But now he’s met her factory settings, her slate, what she once was. He can see how that spirit’s been battered and bruised and how the edges were long since frayed.
Even though she’s pale, ever-so-slightly translucent and slightly glowing green around the edges, he can finally see that maybe he was never in the wrong for feeling scared.
“But first you gotta set yourself up for it,” Master Donatello suddenly instructs. “Go on, go find us. The real us. Leave our spirits to settle on their own time.”
Casey spins around to face his long-dead first Sensei. The one who’d shown him how to swing his stick around like a bow, how to make big things fit in small spaces when need be. And behind him, Master Michelangelo, who’d shown more than he could put into words.
(Vaguely, he knows Master Leonardo’s gaze is still on him, even if he can't tell from where. He doesn't try to seek it out.)
“We’ll still be here at the end of a long day,” Master Donatello states, and the way his face contorts as he tries to put emotions and metaphors into his words is entirely alien against his old Sensei’s skin even though it’s probably been there 100 times over and it makes Casey inexplicably happy to have finally figured out what it means. “But we’re all old men, Case. You deserve people your age.”
Master Leonardo’s metal hand rests a phantom touch on his shoulder, but when he looks it isn't there. “You deserve more than we can give you, Junie. But those guys? Sure, all of us have told tale after tale of their stupid stunts, but they're better than being alone.”
“We made this world for you,” Master Michelangelo finishes. “So don't fuck it up.”
Caseys mouth opens. He wants to scream don't leave me don't go don't go please– but he knows, deep down, that the ghosts can't stay forever. For a moment, they can be his and only his, but one day they must settle, just as Karai did the day Casey was born.
So he puts a swelling, warm hand to his mask, and calls, “this is Casey. Is everyone accounted for?”
There’s a buzz from the katana, and Casey looks down just in time to see Master Leonardo flash a newly-familiar cheeky grin before walking out of the blade’s shine, down towards the hilt until he’s completely missing from view, and returns the reflection to what it truly should be, Casey’s own.
“Affirmative,” Leon’s voice responds, with a tone that indicates fully-well he was aware everyone mistook him for dead. There’s a slight rasp to it, a grogginess, like his head had been hurt and he was holding onto consciousness by tooth and nail, but Casey can already imagine the grin in his new friend’s voice clear as day.
And despite it all, Casey’s face breaks into a wide grin.
“Good to hear that, Master Blue.”
