ok... but why did this judge need to clear this up???? like separating migrant families is arguably (as in, most lawyers would win this case) against international law when they are seeking asylum. it's also just.... how do i say this.... bad. it's wrong and bad to separate families. hot take, ik, but apparently this needs stating. (also separating migrant families is an arguable violation of the 4th Amendment - certainly of the spirit of the amendment)

i’ve been seeing some talk about how “this propaganda is so bad” and “they must think everyone’s too stupid to think” and stuff like that, and i just wanna say be careful not too internalize these thoughts so much.
yes, sometimes propaganda is easy to spot. there are things you see and immediately go “what the fuck, who’d believe that” and that’s GOOD. that means you’re noticing tactics, you’re questioning things, you’re practicing critical thinking.
but not all propaganda is so easy to spot. sometimes propaganda really is good, by which i mean skillfully done. convincing, even when you’ve practiced spotting propaganda. and that can be really dangerous!!
so, really what i’m saying is don’t get passive about propaganda. remember that, very often, it isn’t obvious. you need to do some digging, some thinking, and that thinking is WORTH IT. so worth it! you’re gonna find things you didn’t notice at first, and now you can point those things out. you can start dialogue about them.
keep pointing out the propaganda you do see. talk about it. be upset about it. recognize that you can be misled and that there’s no shame in correcting yourself. please keep thinking, analyzing, questioning, discussing, etc etc
remember that phrase “you are not immune to propaganda”? it will always, always ring true.

do y’all remember the criminal minds episode where the team had to go to a sexual harassment seminar mostly because of how derek and penelope talk to each other? Suits could’ve done something really funny.
I just want a normal person overhearing harvey call his associate a good boy or any one of their weird as fuck conversations and being like what the FUCK dude and reporting it,,,mikes embarrassed bc he doesn’t MIND and he gives it right back in his own way but everyone sitting at this seminar clearly aimed at harvey at mike,,,i think it would be really funny

Fellas, is it normal for a boss to get annoyed at their associate for calling another man "Sir"?

I just saw the IOF kidnap Palestinian fathers and sons... They are torturing them. Humiliating them. Stripping them naked and then killing them.. and posting it online.
That is . .That is what they can do? Not fight in a war, just kidnap and torture.
Oh how i fucking despise every single fuck who said "my heart goes out for the Israeli civilians." I fucking despise them.
What is happening in the west bank is horrific...

What makes White Collar hold up so much better than other police procedurals:
It was part of the "pretty happy shows with gorgeous ensemble casts and a charismatic weird guy" USA network era but it somehow used that to be about stuff that is so REAL
What is justice? Is our system fair? Can you be a criminal and still be a good man? Can you be a good man and still work for the system?
The bad guys are rich assholes, and people defrauding families out of their homes, and unethical pharmaceutical companies. People manipulating energy supply out of greed resulting in blackouts which are showing *harming a dog,* aka how to show something is monstrous in a pg show written by a white person. Class exists in this universe in more ways than having a cardboard concept of a "rich guy."
The bad guys include police, FBI agents, prison staff, judges, senators. Those people cause real harm, obstruct justice, plant evidence, kill people. It's shown how the system protects them and harms regular people.
The harm that causes the main character to go from wanting to be part of the system, to subverting and working against it, is him finding out about an act of police corruption, brutality, and murder--and what's more, that if he became a cop, that's what he could become.
The harm that causes the main character to be outside the white picket fence is that the system failed his family after that act. What happened to Neal's mom? Why did nobody besides Helen step in? They had to check in with US Marshals, did nobody notice this kid didn't have an adult fit to parent?
So Neal turns to found family. And let's be real, heavily polyamory coded found family at that. But he keeps chasing the idea of a girl who will be everything. But he's got all this attachment trauma so he never does. But because found family is real family, even the people who freaking played the characters are still connected a decade later

Fourth of July is so funny cuz it’s the one time every year that people decades past their hetalia phase will wake up in a cold sweat and go “there’s only one character I can draw for this day… 👁️👁️💦”

So, to be honest, spelling bee is an ep that had to grow on me. It just always seemed too outlandish of a crime i think, idk. But the ep does show us more about shawns dysfunctional relationship with his father and Gus’s motivation to participate in Psych. Not to mention Juliet.
Gus is highly intelligent but in a way that feels he never utilized it properly. He has the mental fortitude to become a doctor if he wanted, he has the drive and the willpower it takes to become invested (as shown with how deep his knowledge of the bee and other subjects goes), yet he never did. We see in the pilot how little he actually cares for his “real” job. It pays the bills, thats it. At the end of the day, Gus plays it safe, and you get the feeling in the pilot that he’s not happy with where he’s at. He’s stagnant. Unfulfilled. Just as lost as Shawn.
In a lot of ways, they’re similar with that aspect. Both him and shawn have a variety of interests and skills, yet neither seemed to pursue a career in those fields. In shawns case, in his own words “he mastered it and moved on.” He got bored (ahem, ADHD). But i think in Gus’s case, he was too afraid to try. Or maybe nothing quite gave him enough of a spark to want to. As everyone later points out, Gus has a shit ton of potential that never seemed properly used.
Until Shawn comes around. And he needs him. He needs all of Gus’s knowledge and skills. He even finds the clues that the doctor was fake and Jari was sitting next to the kid with the inhaler. And its fun. He’s excited. Psych brings him joy.
As for our intro to Juliet- fantastic. We learn so much from so little screen time. She can banter with Shawn easily, and isn’t afraid to give pushback or to give Lassiter pointers (which considering she’s like brand new and he’s a bit of a prick is saying something), and she trusts her instincts to follow through with Shawns advice. Shes a good cop. Almost the antithesis to Lassiter. Shes warm, friendly, and trusting to his cold, distant, and weary.
Side note:
James motorcycle face makes me lol every goddamn time

Does anyone else think the one episode of Psych that they remade in the last season would have been funnier if they just had it taking place at the same time as all the other episodes and everyone is just like "this seems familiar?? Haven't we done this before??" and the episode would be used to show what's changed (character development) and what's stayed mostly the same (traits that make the characters who they are) over the years of the show
