i. sunlit hallways in 2005
your footsteps bounce off of the walls of the hallway, sun rays ricocheting off the floor and projecting onto your body as you make your way to your classroom. your eyes zip around in every direction as you tried to scan the room numbers to try and find the one yaga had referred you to. you grimace at his booming voice replaying in your memory talking about these two boys who were supposed to help you â idiots he referred to them as. âstrong idiotsâ.
you assume youâd be heading into the classroom with the most noise in it, as the sound of muffled chattering pricks your ears from beyond the sliding door of the homeroom to your left. a long exhale leaves your lips, your shoulders rolling backwards in an attempt to try and alleviate the weird pressure that settled upon them before your fingers find the little slot that allowed it to open the door, cursing yourself as a loud squeak emits from your action.
you scrunch your eyes shut in a wincing manner, taking in the silence before peeking an eye open to see two boys â which you presume were the ones that yaga had mentioned to you. both of your eyes shoot open at the sound of a small laugh, seeing a boy with spectacles and snow white hair snickering to himself while his friend shook his head at him and instead greets you with a small smile.
you clear your throat. âare you suguru geto and satoru gojo?â
they nod, the dark-haired boy scooting out of his seat to get up and properly greet you while the other lazily grins at you, the cerulean lenses of his gracing his face and framing his teasing gaze behind a deep blue. âgeto,â the former gestures to himself, âand this is gojo,â his hand waves over to the seemingly brash boy who stands beside him, giving a small wave as his hands come to intertwine behind his back.
you lean forward, ducking your head as you bow out of respect for your new classmates. hair falling in front of your face, you introduce yourself quietly as you hear small shuffles emerging towards you until sheen black shoes come into your peripheral.
lifting your head up a little further, youâre met with the bright face of âsatoru gojoâ, the name striking a familiar cord within your brain. gojo, you think, as in the gojo clan? however, you donât get to ponder on that for too long before he chuckles at your expression â clearly somewhat impressed with his appearance. either that, or youâre completely freaked out. although, gojoâs pride would only let him choose the former.
âso,â the boy, gojo, begins, âare you the little shrimp yaga-sensei told us weâd be looking after?â
you press your lips together in a soft frown, before your eyebrows furrow with the small huff that left you as geto smacks the back of his palm against his friendâs chest. ââm not a shrimp, you know â not even that much shorter than you.â
as if to further prove his point, you get an eyeful of white hair as he leans down to meet your eyes, just barely but enough to provide the message. âyeah?â he breathed. his grin makes you nauseous, pearly whites on display and dimmed with the backlit centered illumination giving him a frontal shadow. you tilt your nose up at him before holding his own gaze, his bright ceruleans on display as you replied with a passive-aggressive, âyeah.â
geto laughs, pressing his arm against his friendâs chest to get him to back away from you, the intense scent of cypress and a deep sea breeze no longer engulfing your senses. soft snickers instead fill your ears as gojo stuffs his hands into the pant pockets of his uniform before slipping past you with a hum. geto follows in suit.
you turn your head back to the open doorway, seeing the boys make their way out before gojo turns to you once more. âyou coming or what, shrimp?â
you groan under your breath and he smiles at your reaction, now no longer in your sight as he turns the corner; struggling to hold back a grin at the quick footsteps that trail behind him with a hesitant, âholdâ hold on a sec! iâm not a shrimp!â
âyou are too.â
âare not,â you huff.
his eyes trail up towards the ceiling for a second, tapping his chin as he feigns a long, hard thought before cracking out into another smile. âare too.â
this game continues for a while, and you almost feel bad for geto â except the little game of chicken that you and his counterpart had going on was taking up more of your attention at the moment. with his obnoxiously long legs, gojo purposefully takes wide strides to try and tease you at least a little bit, having you make more of an effort to keep up â just because youâre new doesnât mean that you should be let off the hook so easily, he thinks.
âare tooââ
âthese are the dorms,â suguru interjects, his tone clearly exasperated at this point. a few minutes of walking and the poor man felt like it was hours of meaningless boredom.
your eyes follow the direction of getoâs finger over the trail of doors that lay before you. he leans his head forward, the golden sunlight capturing his face as a few strands of raven hair from his bun slip out from their ties. âmy dormâs on the very end right there,â he gestures his head to the door at the corner, âsatoruâs is two down to the left.â
speaking of him, gojo slings an arm around your shoulders; keeping a firm grip even with only his bicep as you try to squirm away. âdonât worry, iâm sure yagaâll help you in no time. by the end of the day, youâll be lazing around in a nice bed with your feet kicked up, thinking about how you met the most beautiful man ever today,â he says to you.
âdonât you think itâs a little weird to call your friend the most beautiful man ever?â
to gojoâs horror, geto snickers from behind him.
âyouâre a sassy one, arenât you. .â he mutters under his breath, a sigh escaping him as the warmth of his arm leaves your shoulders and is instead met with the cool air conditioning of the halls, only the sunâs peeking through the windows warming you up. he takes a step near his friend, hands stuffed in his pockets once again. âwell, you can always stop by whenever you do get your dorm, iâll always be here,â he singsongs. you fake gag at his playful wink.
geto steps towards you, leaning into you as he mumbles a little too loudly ( whether that was on purpose or not remained unknown ), âdonât worry, the girlsâ wing is on the other side â luckily you wonât have to see that idiot all the time.â you laugh at your eyes trail to gojoâs small pout from behind the boy, his shoulders deflating instantly once he realized he was left out.
âhey, so like, can we not bully me for today? just once?â he chimes in, tilting his head to the side a bit in question. you and geto share one last glance and laugh together before he walks ahead of you again, gojo lagging behind so youâd walk next to him as well.
he couldnât help but glance at you, noticing how you keep your eyes trained in front of you. only occasionally flitting to the window to admire the outside scenery. it wasnât everyday that they got a new student, and if they did, they never lasted long. despite still only being a first year, geto and gojo adapted to the harsh environments of jujutsu society â fully aware of the consequences and what it would take to save non-sorcerers. which only made gojo all the more curious as to why you were here.
âpervert, quit staring at me.â
âhey, people would pay for these eyes on them â youâre a lucky girl, today,â he explains, bumping his shoulder with yours. you glare at him. his smile doesnât falter.
âso do all new recruits get this treatment or what?â you chide, putting a hand on your hip comfortably as you walk. he hums for a moment. ânah,â. he decides, âyouâre special,â his grin only widens the more you banter, bright blue eyes mimicking yours in a sharp narrowing. you hold his gaze for a bit, before ultimately deciding it wasnât worth it â turning your head with a low, âtchâ as you keep your feet moving. gojo does the same.
they walk you around the campus, showing you the track field and the direction in which the girlsâ wing is, telling you to report back to them once yaga had assigned you a room, gojo urging you to invite him over one day to which geto nudges the back of his leg with his shoe. and at the end of the day youâre left with a small wave goodbye to your new classmates, smiles on their faces as they walk off back into the dorms; leaving you to roam around with the new-known information.
you look back at the stone arch of the schoolâs entrance, the stone pathway beneath your feet as you squint from the brightness of the sun just beyond the horizon. a perfect point of which the ground and the sky meet.
you can feel the blocks of sunlight on your chest as you take one last look at it, face softening at the sight.
gojo takes one last look behind him to check on you, seeing your frame simply stand and soak up the golden skies. his lips only quirk the slightest bit upwards, geto quirking a brow beside him only to let an amused breath out at his best friendâs infatuation. âdonât start going all mushy on me now, satoru.â
said friend turns his head back ( geto notices how he takes one last quick glance back before fully rotating his head ) and scoffs, âno way.â geto merely hums and closes his eyes, a knowing feeling growing in his stomach. âshe is kinda cute, you know,â gojo mumbles â closing his eyes when geto opens his own to look at the boy dubiously.
he, too, looks back at you only to find you walking off to another section of the high school; presumably to go and talk to yaga to find out where the hell your dorm would be. he chuckles. âdonât ruin another friendship for us by going a little too far with the flirting, this time.â
the snow-haired boy stays quiet at that, creating a small lull in the conversation only filled by the clacking of shoes against pavement. the sun on the nape of his neck slowly eases up with how it lowers beyond the skyline, small beads of sweat slowly seeping back into his skin before he huffs. âcan you believe the way she talked to me?â geto looks over to him once more. ââyeahâ, who does she think she is talking to us like that?â gojo makes a dumb face as he mimics you, hands on his hips momentarily as he mocks the way you stood â it was surprising how he was the one saying this.
geto snickers. âyou mean the way she talked to you.â
âwhatever,â his classmate responds with a yawn, being able to crack a small smile at getoâs laughs of amusement at his frustration ( or how gojo would call it, his âsufferingâ ). âyouâll learn to like her eventually,â he chides. his friend stays quiet at that once more.
gojo tilts his head up at the darkening sky. he swears he can feel the sun on his chest, too.
ii. the way the clouds shape us
âspecial grade? guess satoru was wrong about you being a shrimp,â the sound of getoâs laughter fills the air, thin fingers handing you back your student id as you pocketed the small, white card back in the pocket of your uniform.
âhe doesnât know what heâs talking about,â you shake your head, placid smile painted on your lips. geto leans against the tree, careful not to ruin his sleek hair against the chipped bark. he watched as you lifted your hands up to the sky. you extend your fingers and stretch them out â watching as the light blue of the sky above you illuminates your open-faced palm and casts a shadow for the rest of your arm.
gojo wasnât wrong, you were definitely beautiful. even geto knew it, taking in the way your hair splayed out delicately against the vibrant grass, as he could hear the distant chatter of his other two best friends making their way towards you two. you had to thank gojo for this, considering he was the found who found this little safe haven in the first place.
over the past few months ( even if you joined a little later than halfway through the actual school year ), it became quite comfortable for you to chat with these newfound friends of yours. you quickly got along with ieiri, much to gojoâs dismay as he has discovered you two make the best team against him with your sharp words towards him. heâd savor the way youâd lean in and tell him you were never really serious afterwards ( even though he was well aware of that fact, heâd like knowing you still didnât want to really hurt his feelings ). it really felt like home when you were with them, a sanctuary only for the four of you.
with your eyes flitting closed, geto finally tears his eyes from you to gaze at the duo approaching the two of you, gojo whining about something like usual as shoko barely humored him with the little tolerance she had left; a pale cigarette hanging from between her lips.
you relish in the sun on your skin, lessened from the months before that first day you came to tokyoâs jujutsu high as youâve adapted. you must adapt in order to survive. you realize that now, which is why you indulge in the small moments you can get â even if itâs just silence with geto or the fact that suddenly, even behind closed eyelids, the sun was gone.
allowing your lashes to flutter open, you see a familiar brunette stand above you. a combination of the sweet, earthy tones emitting from the dewy grass below you and her perfume suddenly hit your nose, surprising but definitely not unpleasant. you hummed, eyebrows furrowed.
she laughs, âeh? you two are just out here without us?â
âsigh,â you roll your eyes at gojo who audibly says the word âsighâ, âso inconsiderate, you two.â
geto laughs, resting his hands upon his stomach as he closes his eyes â nose twitching with the leftover pollen floating along with the soft, spring breeze down from its habitat within the trees and the plants enclosing you all.
he doesnât exactly fall asleep, especially in such an uncomfortable position. but he makes peace with this discomfort and instead seeks refuge in his own place of serenity, only him and his thoughts ( and the quiet chatter of you and shoko ganging up on your white-haired friend ).
you exhale smoothly through your nose, a breath of fresh air leaving your lungs as you stare up at your friend, a smirk threatening to unleash itself on her face even from behind the cancer stick. âthose things kill, you know,â you playfully chastise her, watching as she chuckles before crouching down.
she slips the cigarette from past her mouth, the end stained glossy and pink from that one lip product you always forget the brand of, before offering the smoke to you between her two fingers. she hums as you take the tube, the material dry against your lips. âmight as well while weâre still alive and young,â she says â and the morbidity of the question no longer bothers you like it would have a few months earlier. instead, you actually chuckle at her dry delivery. you struggle not to choke with your laid back position as you hold it before letting it escape you, a hot puff of smoke emitting in the air.
âso, whatâre we doing today?â a pair of lanky, slack-clad legs come into your peripheral along with a familiar mop of snowy hair before it disappears, his voice trailing off as he sits next to geto. you prop yourself up on your elbows, squinting at the sudden bright light as shoko sits beside you inside.
you crack a small smile at the feeling of her fingertips messing with the ends of your hair, shaking out the small bits of grass that got stuck in the delicate strands. gojo, however, thinks youâre smiling at him so he grins in return before your smile is soon replaced with an unsure expression â almost like youâre gonna throw up just from looking at him. he still doesnât falter.
âwhat do you think we should do?â you ask after a bit, thanking ieiri under your breath as sheâs done helping you primp.
âwhat if we go to the convenience store for a bit and get some snacks? i was thinkingââ
âboringg..â shokoâs thoughts are interrupted by gojoâs loud interruption, her face immediately dropping as she looks at him. âhey, you donât have to show off in front of your girlfriend every day, yâknow,â she shoots back.
he pouts at the brunette, his shoulders deflating as his hands come up to his face to mimic a fake tear rolling down his cheek. a nervous huff escapes you as you look between her, geto, and gojo before you start, âheâs not mââ
âhow about we go to the arcade in shinjuku city? they close in like,â he checks the imaginary watch on his wrist ( whether he didnât know he had interrupted you or he didnât want you to finish your thought was something you didnât understand ), âtwo hours, i guess.â
you roll your neck around on your shoulders, sighing at the low cracks that escape your aching bones. eager for some activity, you shrug. âhate to admit it, but that might be the greatest idea gojoâs ever had.â
to that, he beams. you hear a duet of groans come from your other two friends. âaw, câmon. donât give into him so easily,â geto chides playfully.
ânot to bragââ
ââall you do is brag, gojoââ
ââbut i, personally, think i have a ton of great ideas.â
geto tips head back and laughs. you see the way his eyelids twitch and scrunch with his soft smile, outer corners crinkling as the airy sound frees itself from him. he crosses his arms. âthatâs why you personally think that, im afraid âs not a very common opinion,â he answered calmly. gojo sulks as he looks to shoko for help. she shrugs and puffs out another cloud of smoke between the small opening sheâs created on the side of her mouth.
âwe can always bully him some other time, iâm bored and iâm practically losing years off of my life just listening to him,â you mutter to her â perhaps a little too loud as you see gojoâs jaw drop open from your peripheral.
geto gets up, dusting the damp pieces of grass sticking to his pants and the back of his legs before taking a big stretch. you wrap your arm around the other, extending your elbow and mimicking his motions as you let out a sigh at the feeling of weary muscles ( which you can already tell that geto and gojo will use against you when you spar ).
âwhy donât we go already then?â he inquires, causing gojo to shoot up as you already start to slowly walk back to the campus entrance. shoko snorted as she shook her head, trailing behind to walk and talk with the raven-haired man. your eyes scan over the perimeter of the horizon, spotting all the grass and the vast architecture of the highschool, squinting as you look for the way you came from.
feeling the air change from behind you and the soft sounds of quick footsteps on grass, you begin. âhey shoko, do you everââ
then you see his stupid smile.
âoh,â you say. he scoffs, almost like heâs offended that you had such a tame reaction. gojo huffs a bit, still attempting to keep up with your pace. âjust âohâ? you arenât excited to talk to me at all?â he groans.
you shrug. âjust thought you were shoko âs all.â
oh, you really shouldnât have said that. you think â because once you see the way his face splits into a grin once more, you instantly grimace. âso you are excited to talk to me.â
ânever said that.â
âyou didnât have to. iâm psychic.â
âthat so? what am i thinking right now, then?â you ask, finally tearing your eyes away from the ground and tilting your head at gojo; who taps his chin and pretends to think ( although, you know that thereâs a seventy percent chance that whatever comes out of his mouth will be bullshit considering the way heâs struggling to hold back a smile ).
your question evokes a long hum from him as he looks up to the sky, to the right, and then back to you before he answers, âhow handsome i am?â your eyes narrow a bit, one of the rare moments where satoru gojo could render you speechless.
once your mouth drops open, void of sound, gojoâs almost ready to backtrack and apologize before you finally laugh. a nice, hearty laugh that makes your chest rumble in between every breath. and if that isnât the biggest ego booster for the boy then youâre not sure what is. he couldnât care of you were laughing at him or with him, all he knows is that he canât help but chuckle along with you. his chest swells with pride as you lean on the stone archway as the cacophony of giggles slows down.
you wipe the corner of your eyes, looking back at geto and ieiri as they eye you in confusion â but nonetheless give you a pity snicker in response.
âyouâre hilarious, gojo â keep it up,â you finally say.
he beams boyishly at you, a warm wave of something washes over him albeit he canât figure out what. ânice to know i still got it,â he asserted, making you give one last eye roll before you looked back at the stone steps leading to the front entrance.
you skipped forward and turned your body a bit to look at your classmates. the usual scowl on your face no longer evident anymore for it was replaced by a soft smile, one so foreign even to shoko whoâs company you more or less enjoyed the most. she pursed her lips around the tobacco stick in an uncharacteristic curiosity, wondering what that fool couldâve done now to make you genuinely laugh.
âiâm gonna grab something from my dorm real quick, âkay?â although you were probably saying it to the group as a whole, gojo nodded eagerly as he flashed you a thumbs-up with a small, âokayâ as well.
he turned to shoko and geto as you rushed up the stairs and into the building, running along to the girlsâ wing as they glared at him. âwhat?â his voice was too innocent to be gojo, just the sound of his âoblivionâ made them want to facepalm. geto held a thumbs up as he mocked his friendâs earlier face while shoko have a light huff, the sound somewhere in between sounding both exasperated and entertained.
âthâhell was that?â she asked, finally stubbing the cigarette out with her shoe ( still keeping a pack on here though, you never know when you might need one. especially when youâre friends with the biggest idiot in tokyo ).
âwhat?â he repeated.
ânothinâ,â geto shrugged, the tiny front piece he kept loose from his bun swaying as he shook his head. he shares a look with shoko that definitely throws gojo off though. he narrows his eyes at them, spectacles somewhat hiding the oceans that are his irises.
gojo crosses his arms. âyou guys are just jealous that i can make a pretty lady laugh.â
âyouâ you donât think . .â shoko trails off, her forehead crinkling as she looks like sheâs trying to decipher something. gojo quirks a brow even though she was thinking aloud or possibly talking to geto instead â he still waits for her to finish her sentence. âwhat?â he repeats only to be met with a dismissive shake of the head from her.
he opens his mouth to ask what theyâre talking about before he hears hasty shoes against stone and looks behind him to see you, walking back down with a small pin clasped in your hand that shimmers in the sun when you hold your hand up.
gojoâs eyes take their own route as they fly away from your palm, down your arm until it reaches your face â a fond smile written on your face like you had been claimed victorious. it made his own smile quirk back up again.
you only spare him a glance before you lope to shoko. he watches as you hand the item over to her before she takes it, a faint half-smile twitching on her lips bemusedly.
âso you can keep your bangs to the side,â you answer â even when no one has asked why you gave that pin to her. âi got it from osaka on that mission last month â thought itâd look cute on you.â geto cocks his head as he tunes out your conversation before shrugging and walking back over to gojo, hands shoved in his pockets.
he chuckles, âno need to pout, satoru.â
âiâm not pouting,â he placed a hand on his hip. unbeknownst to him, he totally was; whether it was unintentional or not. âsheâs just playing favorites over here when iâm the one who so graciously invited her to start hanging out with us,â he frowns.
a laugh and a rough pat on the back from geto interrupted him from entering his soon incoming villain arc as he walked back over to you and ieiri, pulling his dramatic friend along with him. gojoâs ears perked up at your voice in the conversation once more.
âoh, you know i donât like all those weird hair clips ânâ stuffââ
âdonât worry,â you lean over, brushing some of her bangs out of her face as you clip them to the side. gojo watches afar as your thin fingers work to cover the small pin with another piece of shokoâs hair, successfully getting it out of her face and concealing the pin in the process. you grin, mission accomplished.
pulling back, you watch as shoko touches her hair â smirking when she realizes how useful itâd be. she pats your head and looks at you before her eyebrows furrow; only then do you realize what she was focused on behind you.
âuh, whereâs my souvenir?â your face instantly drops as you feel gojoâs chin on your shoulder, words purred dangerously low next to your ear.
âup your ass.â
âmind fetching it for me?â
âyouâre disgustingâ!â you push him off as he chortles, his eyes crinkling softly as bouts of laughter overtake him at your exaggerated reaction.
âweâre not gonna make it to shinjuku if you guys keep bickering like children,â you both hear geto chide. you look over to the entrance, a small smile on his face as he teases the both of you.
you scoff, stuffing your own hands in your pockets as you walk over to the dark haired man. âhe started it,â you mutter.
he gasps. ânu-uh!â
âyu-huh,â you retort. he sticks his tongue out at you in retaliation whilst shoko follows you and geto in return. gojo smirks as you huff and turn around, watching as his friend bumped hips with you on the way there, making mindless conversation.
the air wasnât so bad, the light breeze felt more refreshing than over. he looked back over at shokoâs hair in thought.
perhaps heâd have to work harder at officially getting on your good side some other time, he thinks.
iii. the taste of blue raspberry
vibrant lights and loud video game chirps wasnât exactly gojoâs scene despite how he always presented himself; extroverted and inherently obnoxious ( although, heâd prefer to use the word âcomfortableâ rather than obnoxious whenever youâd refer to the latter ). all he could do was trail after you and shoko, geto following him as he observed the random teens and little kids accompanied with their parents that kept the arcade flowing.
cerulean eyes follow your movements in hopes that heâll keep track of you. that he wont lose you in this crowd. heâll occasionally look over at shoko and geto to make sure theyâre still here, too.
âso, you chose a shitty arcade spot to hangout in? such poor taste,â he leans down over you, hoping that mild jabs and soft teasing will help keep his mind off of the fact that thereâs snot nosed kids running around the already narrow spaces between the machines; their flat footsteps melding together with all the loud sounds as they become synchronized with the beat of the music.
your lips twist into a sneer at the sound of him, slowly turning your head to look behind you at the boy who grinned so slyly. gojo knew exactly what he was doing.
âwould you rather have yaga put us to work and sweep the dorms?â you bat your eyelashes as he only smiles further, reveling in how you play along with his little game.
âi dunnooo.. wherever you go i go, i suppose.â
âsuch a flirt.â
âjust being honest,â he puts his hands up defensively as he walks past you to a random machine that stands stationary in front of you, untouched with whirring, vibrant lights that glow brighter when he thumbs a few tokens in the slot at the bottom. as you hear the clinking of the coin hit against the curvature inside of the machine, the snow-haired boy turns to look at you with a boyish smile as he crouches down and points a finger to the blinking button saying, âplay now!â
you have the urge to warn him about how the game is most likely rigged. you donât. instead your parted lips close with a huff. gojo is said to be able to do anything, you remember, heâll learn the hard way.
âyou mind getting me a slush at the machines?â he says, lanky body extending to its full height as stands upright again.
âthatâs so far â and scary,â you feign a pout. realistically, you were just too lazy to walk all the way over there and back for one item.
âtake suguru with you,â he tips his head up to gesture in the direction of the dark haired friend, to whom you see looking out the glass doors at all the kids who run through the place.
so there you are, walking along with geto as you huff about how gojo could have gotten the drink himself. he hums occasionally, looking around and observing the environment to try and make sure you donât run into anything during your chatter.
âhe does care about you, though. you know that right?â his fingers sift through the yen in his palm, the coins clinking around as he grabs some and puts it into the thin slot of the slushee machine.
your lips press together as you hum almost dismissively, head cocked. the cup makes a soft thud against the metal as he puts the cup inside and closes the small glass opening. the machine whirs as he clicks the blue raspberry flavor almost like itâs muscle memory â the blue button lighting up with the white kana in front of it.
âyou want something?â geto asks quietly, leaning down to interrupt your analysis.
the thought makes you crack a small smile as you think for a moment before turning to face him. âdo you want something?â you inquire. âiâll pay.â
he waves you off with a soft smile. âitâs alright, iâm not much into sweets.â
you grab gojoâs cup out of the dispenser, putting a clear lid and straw in it as you grab another disposable cup. if you were going to get a slushee, you werenât going to let geto pay for it by himself. the whirring of machineâs drink being poured almost drowns out the loud, coinciding beeps and animated sounds of the nearby screens you both hear.
âthen let me buy you something when we get out of here,â you smile at him.
you fail to notice the way his face softens at you when youâre too busy grabbing the cup, licking off the excess that spills over onto your thumb as you laugh. his smile falters a bit, before he walks with you back to go get shoko and gojo.
you scoff at the sight of the white haired man smirking at the pixelated screen, pointing it out to you and geto. the two of you lean over as you heard gojo sip on the drink while you roll your eyes at the big blue kanji in bold spelling out, âtop score: satoru gojoâ.
âthought you werenât a fan of blue raspberry,â you hear from behind you.
already, you see the man in question leaning on geto as he looks at you with a quirked brow. you look down at your cup. ah, you think, guess you did. your expression must give something away because you hear shoko amusedly huff next to you.
you shrug. âguess i just wanted to try something new.â
clearly a mistake because his smile only widens as he slings an arm around your shoulder too. ânah, you know what iâm thinking?â
âyou never think.â that earns you a flick to the forehead.
he leans down. âi think iâm rubbing off on you,â he laughs.
you try to push him off of you yet he manages to let his weight relax as you struggle to keep him up, âgojo, you ass,â you mutter.
he turns to look at you, his smile looks different. feels different. âcall me satoru,â he beams.
iv. âthe star plasma vessel?â
riko amanai is a pretty girl, you think. you have no idea why she wanted to be the star plasma vessel in the first place. you werenât there when satoru and suguru went to go meet her, instead hearing her version of the story where they practically tortured her â and knowing the boys, youâre not quite sure that she wasnât exaggerating.
she likes you, definitely favoring you a little more than tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum, you think as you pointedly look at the pair of friends, walking ahead of you.
you look down at rikoâs arm interlocked with yours and smile. âso,â you whistle, âwhat do you think of those two?â
her green eyes dart up to yours before looking at suguru and satoru and squinting. âtheyâre interesting, thatâs for sure,â she mumbles. her lips twist into a sneer-like pout just at the sight of them, evoking a lighthearted chuckle from you. you fail to notice the way satoruâs head turns to look at you ever so slightly at the sound.
it makes riko grin as you playfully bump your hip with hers. satoru had never seen you so lax. maybe because the young girl was easier to handle than himself. he didnât mind seeing you like this, but he couldnât deny that it was pretty fun to work you up, too.
he smiles at the thought of your puffed cheeks with furrowed brows, narrowed eyes burning holes into him as he would flick your forehead for the third time in a row.
âwhatâs gotten you all cheesy?â he hears suguru inquire from beside him, tearing his eyes away from the stone road beneath him to look at his snow-haired friend. âeh? just thinking about stuff,â satoru replies.
suguru hums, his hand still shoved in his uniformâs pocket. âyou sure it has nothing to do withââ
âa-tat-tat-tatâ!â satoru waves a hand in front his friends face, holding another finger up as a gesture for him to silence. âwhatâd we say about sharing private stuff in public, suguru?â
âi canât help it, some âgossipâ is too hot,â he shrugs.
âthat does not help meââ
âwhat gossip are you guys talking about?â riko chimes, crossing her arms as the two of them look at her. you quirk a brow yourself.
if heâd had known better, satoru wouldâve flinched at the rough hand you had smacked down on his shoulder. his eyes flickered towards you, already spotting the sly smile on your face. fuck you for being so beautiful, he thinks.
âyeah, what gossip are you guys talking back?â you press. he scoffs, waving you off as he continues walking. your lips press into a pout as you cross your arms as well, mimicking rikoâs motions as you two whisper about whatever. suguru laughs at the two of you â only a few days and you guys were already twins.
sometimes the thought made your smile falter ever so slightly, knowing that you had to escort her only in a day or two was saddening. but for now, youâll enjoy the smiles and pats on the back â knowing youâd have to part soon was only so minuscule in a world drowned in familiarity.
you intertwine your fingers with hers instead and swing your arms back and forth before you turn your head to your aforementioned friend.
âhey suguru, what do you say we show riko-chan here that little coffee shop downtown?â you ask, watching as he turns his attention away from his small flip phoneâs messaging system ( as heâs most likely texting shoko and making fun of satoru in the process ) before his eyebrows raise with a soft smile.
you hear satoru huff again as his head whips around to look at you. stifling a laugh, you take in his furrowed brows and jutted lip as he sulks.
âhey, why donât i know about any secret coffee shop downtown?â
âwe had just found it walking around one day,â suguru deflects.
âand you didnât tell me about this super-cool-top-secret-no-satoru cafĂŠ?â
you beam before resting your hand on his shoulder. satoru swears electricity shoots through his nerves as he turns to look at you. he wouldnât spoil it now, but heâs seventy percent sure that this is the first time youâve touched him without pushing him ( or as heâd like to call it, abusing him ) away.
âdonât be so jealous, satoru,â he ignores the way you call of his name makes a pit settle in his stomach. you turn to riko, âweâll share the spot, yeah?â
âif you say so,â suguru puts his hands up in playful submission. satoru only chuckles.
your laugh synchronizes with the sounds around you, like music to satoruâs ears whilst you skip ahead with riko and scan your perimeter. everything sounds clearer now; the birds outside zipping around trees, chairs and drinks clinking, a heavy pair of distant footsteps that you can only assume is the trailing of a few people on their way to the same place.
but none of that really matters, although youâre sure everything does. all these sounds are apart of you and youâre willing to make the most of it. you walk hand in hand with riko as the boys follow in suit.
you scoff at the way satoru pulls the chair out for you before sitting himself in his own and kicking his feet up. his brow quirks cockily at the sound. âah, so youâre only nice to me when amanai is around?â
âsomeoneâs still gotta keep you in your place, satoru.â
âyes, maâam,â he laughs, tipping his head back lazily as his hands fold over his chest. suguru huffs and grabs his friendâs feet before shoving them back down onto the cement. âdecency, satoru?â
âehh,â he groans, only peeking an eye at suguru before closing them again and letting his body go lax. you shake your head and laugh, watching as riko eyes him in annoyance. theyâll warm up to each other eventually, you think â and you can tell suguru feels the same.
âthis is so coolâ!â you chuckle at the way the young girl gleams at the intricate details of the outdoor table and the faint music playing from inside the cafĂŠ. her green eyes shimmer in the light, you notice; perhaps maybe just curiosity glinting in them. sheâs only fourteen.
your eyes flicker around your environment yourself, hearing the mindless chatter that riko and suguru partake in about, presumably about what theyâre going to do next. you squint at the distance, seeing an unusually tall man towering over a few people as he looks in your direction. your lips purse as you narrow your eyes at him further before he tilts his head up and turns away.
you watch as he walks away, his toned back all you see before you hear a mumble of your name and a tap of your foot.
you look over to see satoru, who stares at you with an indecipherable expression â something between an uncharacteristic curiosity and a standoff-ish glow. your head tilts before you look back over at the front of the cafĂŠ. that man is gone.
you turn back to see satoru leaning over the table with a sly smile. âpenny for your thoughts?â
you shake your head and dismiss him with a weary smile and a lazy shake of your hand. âjust looking around,â you say â even if you know that you canât fool satoru gojo, his eyebrows only pinch a bit before slightly rotating his head to look behind him a bit.
âyou want a sweet?â you ask, tapping his side of the table to get his attention.
had his eyes always looked so piercing, you think to yourself, as you feel something move around in your chest. rearranging itself along with the soft onomatopoeic thumps of the organ that lays inside.
he hesitates. ânah, iâll get something on the way back later.â
âwho are you and what have you done with satoru?â you chuckle. he ignores the way the usage of his given name makes him feel, the way you say it â syllables still fresh on your tongue. instead, he laughs along with you while looking over to his friend. he doesnât know what he expected, suguru was always observant; so why was he so surprised to see him looking at the two of you with a raised brow?
you look back at riko before gasping out a small laugh at her chubby cheeks, full of food as she eats it like itâs the last meal sheâll ever have. it only makes your grin grow wider when her eyes meet yours, like a deer in headlights whilst she stops chewing. you both take a pause, even when the boys turn to look at you as well â before you burst out into bouts of laughter. rikoâs giggles are muffled by the parfait thatâs swelled in her cheeks but she covers her mouth with a polite hand as she tries not to choke.
your cheeks feel warm with the way they stretch to curl into a smile. suguru and satoru exchange a look before satoru smiles right along with you. it wasnât so bad, he thinks. if amanai made you act like this then maybe he didnât mind her as much as he thought. his foot taps against the concrete underneath the table. he can feel something wriggling around in his chest.
v. deficit
riko amanaiâs beauty, no longer will it be seen as the white sheet frames her features instead, you think.
the deafening sound of applause almost takes your mind off of satoruâs expression; only coldness lies within his features, now.
your hand clutches your side, even with the greatness of the stitches that shoko had blessed your wounds with â you could almost still feel his knife in your abdomen. the stinging never seemed to go away. the clapping doesnât help, all of your senses are occupied on trying to focus on satoru.
with the close proximity of suguru next to you, you can feel the way his hand twitches against his side while he looks at riko, or more so, the sheet that covers her. you can feel his horror, too. just a couple of days ago, she was fourteen, trotting along tokyo with you
youâre almost upset you werenât there for her death, you werenât there to comfort her in her last moments or save her at all. you were only there for the aftermath, the same man who you saw at the coffee shop just days prior. you look at suguru to your right â who knows what heâs gone through, you think.
and yet throughout all the booms of cheers and applause, you can hear satoruâs voice and your head whirls back to him. you almost donât recognize it when he utters, âi screwed up, itâs not your fault.â
your hand comes up to gently rest upon your mouth in a soft gasp as your eyes try not to trail down to where rikoâs shoe clad feet swing with satoruâs steps, the only part of her thatâs left unsheathed from the horror of whatâs underneath the cover.
his next words come out muffled yet you know you couldnât escape them even if you tried, so close yet so far to avoidance â but you know you heard him clearly.
he calls your name, then suguruâs. âshould we kill these guys?â your stomach churns, the pain in your side gets worse â your head hurts and it feels like you donât know where you are at one point. you start to question whether anything is real at this point. he adds, âi doubt iâd feel anything about it.â
his eyes donât dart to yours like they had the few mornings prior, before you had gone to escort the young girl. he had smiled and slapped a comforting hand on your shoulder once you explained how you had a bad feeling. you still do. you wonder if thereâs any other feelings you could have, anymore.
you hear suguruâs soft mutter next to you, the applause only simmering down as you try to hyper-focus on his voice. perhaps to ground you, or perhaps you couldnât escape it; a reminder of what this world is really like. âno,â he says. âthere wouldnât be a point.â
your vision glosses over into a blur and you go to look at the light above you, florescent and blinding. your heart hurts and you do your best not to clutch it through the fabric of your uniform, you canât be seen like this, you think. you canât let them see whatâs happening to you.
fingers digging into your palm, you tune the rest of suguruâs voice out; even though you can feel his eyes on you regardless. instead, the pair of your own follow satoru, seeing rikoâs hand, partially crusted with the leftover pool of blood that had flowed beside her head, swing lifelessly as he walks past the two of you.
your brows knit closer together as you stare at him. everything clips in and out. the noise, the cheers, suguruâs voice slowly melding into satoruâs. âno point, huh?â he huffs. âdoes there need to be a point?â
âof course there does,â suguru snaps back. mauve irises are nothing but void now, his eyes only fixated on the ground a few feet in front of him. âespecially for jujutsu sorcerers.â
your eyes burn with the way theyâve been mindlessly gazing at the snow-haired boy, the back of his head the only thing you can catch a glimpse of behind suguruâs dark hair. it doesnât feel like they can close, only the sheen layer of oncoming tears coating them so they donât entirely dry out. âsatoru,â you breathe â and with the way things are going, youâre surprised to see cerulean eyes turn to meet yours.
suguru doesnât bother to look at you since he can already anticipate the crumbling feeling of guilt when he sees your expression. it doesnât matter anyway. it almost feels like nothing does.
glossed lips donât part like how theyâd usually do, they donât even grace you with the smallest sight of a smirk like how satoru always would. youâre not quite sure why you whisper his name, what youâll even say. maybe a mantra that only connects the two of you, something thatâll keep you sane.
he keeps his eyes locked on you for a second more before turning his head and walking away. your hand comes to grasp at your side. the stinging comes back.
vi. pinky promises (of two)
sentimentality was a privilege in a world of jujutsu â you learned, after riko. sensitivity wasnât trained into sorcerers, in fact, youâd say it was actually trained out of them. it wasnât necessarily a bad thing to be sensitive. although, surrounded by the strong, tears burned hot on your skin and your hand burned even harder when theyâd come up to wipe them away.
the birds outside the encapsulated feeling of the trees chirp, showcasing what once looked golden now is tainted with a dull grey that seems to gloss over everything now. your eyes feel droopy, no longer laced with sleep but with the dread thatâll come with the rest of the day.
you wonder how satoruâs doing, how shokoâs doing. how suguruâs doing. his face looks thinner, you noticed as you think back from the recollection of your faded memories from two mornings ago. he wonât go out with you as often, you wonder how badly it fucked him up. you wonder if anything will be the same again.
you run a frustrated hand through your hair, cringing at the way oil meets your fingers. you know you have to wash your hair, but you canât bring yourself to. it almost feels like a chore, combined along with your classes and being put on your ass every time when you try to spar with satoru.
(he always says heâll go easy on you and let you win. you huff in annoyance â he never does.)
despite all the breaths of fresh air you try to take, your lungs can never feel free of the burden that theyâre tainted with. you close your eyes and savor the heat of the bark against your palm, in hopes that itâll finally soothe the ache in your chest like how it did all those weeks ago â at the beach in okinawa.
you remember the warmth of the sand against your skin, smacking your hands together when youâd sit upright to rid your skin of the small golden flecks. you remember seeing riko and gojo splashing each other in the water as you heard kuroi and suguruâs soft voices conversation from beside you. the feeling of your hair tied, the brightness of the sun drowning your skin. itâs so vivid in your mind, you wonder if everything was all a dream, sometimes.
a raspy voice breaks your reverie as it excuses itself before you move your propped leg and look down below you. a faint smile finds its way to your lips as you see a familiar brown bob accompanied by the scent of tobacco and rose body spray.
âso distant out here,â she cranes her neck up at you with pressed lips, you internally sigh in relief at the lack of a cigarette thatâs usually rested between them. a small pout forms on your lips at her extended arm, looking down at her hand and then back up at her with a cocked head. âiâd say with more to do out here, i would understand why.â
you huff. âi was brutally injured not too long ago, and this is how you treat your favorite patient, let alone favorite friend?â shoko smirks with an entertained scoff.
âi donât see utahime around here anywhere.â
âshoko!â
she snickers as she makes her way over to the grass, the plush dirt cold against her upper thighs as she unceremoniously plops down onto it. you begrudgingly ( but not really, as the lack of social interaction practically burns your throat ) hop down from the branches of the tree, the heat finally capturing you in all of its glory as you carefully sit down next to shoko.
âalways reminiscing, huh?â she asks. you can see the way she fidgets with the turtleneck of her uniform, presumably from the antsy withdrawal of her cigs. you give a small hum â whether itâs an affirmation or not, you donât know. all you know is that itâs a noise that escapes you, now only a rare sight for the people closest to you.
your tongue tingles with the longing of verbosity. eager to say something, except the brunette beats you to it first. âi get it,â she sighs. âitâs nice to be alone out here.â
âwe canât ever be alone with those two idiots,â you remind her playfully, a chuckle managing to slip past your lips as she groans at the mention of the two familiar boys.
âhowâs satoru doing?â you ask softly, plucking at the dewy grass that lay beneath you. shoko looks at you quizzically from out of the corner of her eye before closing her eyes with a snorted laugh. your heads whips around to look at her as you see her head shaking fondly.
a small, contagious huff makes it way out of you at the sight before she looks back at you, honey eyes narrowing once she realizes that youâre genuinely asking. her smile never falters, though ( which is usually a bad sign considering of the sadistic streak youâve seen her partake in ).
âhave you got it for the satoru gojo?â
you gape. âi donâtâ! i just,â lips pursed, you huff and tilt your chin up with crossed arms. âthe escort was a bust, just wanted to see if his ego wasnât too hurt.â
at your brash synopsis; your ears grow hot when you realize shoko definitely doesnât believe you â especially with the way she hunches over a fit of silent snickers.
âshut up.â
âah, i wonât bully you,â her lips twist into a grin. âfor now.â
âshoko!â you throw your head upwards while you fall back and ragdoll, your back hitting the solid dirt beneath you as you put your arms over your head, blocking the sunâs view from your eyes.
all you can feel is the ache in your stomach, even with your friendâs reversed cursed technique, you can still feel the knife that once pierced the flesh linger on. your lips twist until you hear the shuffling of weeds and dirt swipe next to you. you turn your head, lifting your arm only to see the brunette scooting closer. she pauses, âwhat?â
âyou donât wanna lay down with me?â you feign a pout as you look up at her on propped elbows, the corner of your lip quirking up when you see how unenthusiastic she looks with your antics.
âyou can get bugs on you,â she chimes before leaning against the bark of the tree.
âitâs nature, sho.â
âsome of itâs pretty gross. you ever see tortoises fuck?â
âyouâre so weird,â you laugh before rolling on your back again and looking back up at the sky; eyes gazing at the sun until when you look away, you see faded, floating shapes in your trajectory. she snickers too, looking up at the sky, too.
sheâs starting to get eye bags, you notice â the fold of skin forming under her eyes along with faint, darkened circles that sit right under her splayed bottom lashes. unable to blame her, you simply lay there and stare. your eyes still pick up on the way she fiddles with her thumbs placed in her lap, pale yet irritated hands a stark contrast to the darkness of her uniform.
âyâknow if itâs me you want instead of gojo, you can say so,â she laughs, interrupting your analysis with how hard you were staring. but this time, you donât say anything. nothing at all, not even a small twitch of your lips in annoyance or a giggle to her joke, you simply keep staring at me.
she barely tilts her head yet itâs enough for you to notice. she finally asks, âsomething youâre thinking about?â
the words sit heavy on your tongue, laced with a bitterness you could only describe as filth. âdo you ever wonder whatâll happen when weâre older?â
âwhat do you mean?â
âlook at what happened, now.â
her brows relax. âoh.â
shokoâs lips pout out a little bit as she looks off into the horizon, where the school lays dormant with only few staff occasionally walking out or a few students walking out to their drivers to participate in another assignment.
your hands feel hollow with the way theyâre too weak to even ball your fists, so you swallow the pit that forms in the hollow crevice of your throat and look back up at the sky.
âweâll be together forever, right, shoko?â
you hold out your pinky to her â and despite her scoff, she interlocks hers with yours anyways.
vii. words left unsaid, words always heard
âyou think itâll get any better?â
your turn your head to the velvet voice emerging from the shadows, tensing in your spot atop the dorm balcony as you slowly look behind you. long hair is seen first; thick, ebony silk cascading down suguruâs thin t-shirt. you canât count how many days youâve seen him wearing that familiar white oversized tee, you wonder if itâs become a second skin for him at this point.
you hum at his presence, turning back to the dark sky that lay before you. looking at the exterior of the school that lay in the courtyard, painted with darkness as only the soft glimmer of moonlight embraces them, embraces you.
âyou act like everything will go to shit.â
âiâm not saying that,â his tone is sharp â no longer smooth as how it used to be, he sounds on edge, like the rubber band inside of his throat will snap at any moment.
you hear a few small steps shuffle closer to you whilst you turn around and lean your body forward, the metal of the railing cool against the sweat of your arms. another nightmare, geto notes; from the way your hair is still frazzled and your breaths come out heavy with few quick intervals of inhalation.
you could feel his presence beside you, the aura of tensity thickening the air as you struggled not to say anything. you could feel his eyes on you, observing you. suguru was always observant somehow â you wonder how long he had been that way before you had found out. he was a very interesting boy, you learned early on.
âi never said you did,â your lips twisted like something sour fell damp in your mouth. âyouâve just changed, suguru.â
âhave you not changed also?â
closing your eyes, you hope for one more breeze to pass through â for one opportunity, for one sign thatâll release you from this energy. it doesnât.
âsuguruââ
âdonât you ever wonder how the world would be,â a pregnant pause wriggles its way into the two of you, âwithout curses?â
you look at him only to see violet eyes focused straight ahead of him. he doesnât glance at you nor even breathe in your direction, his shoulders donât seem as tense though.
you shake your head with a breathy laugh. âyeah, i guess so.â
you lean further to try and alleviate the pain in your stomach, a churning inside of your gut that gives you a bad feeling just at the thought of it. sharing a look, your heads turn toward each other in the moonlight â he looks paler, you notice. sickly.
âhasnât everybody? or at least hasnât every jujutsu user?â you mumble.
( you notice suguru pauses, an uncharacteristic habit that heâs slowly developed â once always so sure and witty with his remarks, now wilted with the uncertainness thatâs plagued him. )
âwhy do we exist?â he finally says.
your eyes dart around, stomach finally squeezing at the discomfort you feel at his question; yet you laugh it off anyway.
âphilosophical, are we?â you meager a forced grin, although it only falters slightly once you feel him sigh out a breathy laugh. âa humanâs purpose on earth is undefined, i donât really know the answââ
âi mean as a jujutsu sorcerer: what is our purpose?â
âi donât know where youâre going with this,â you finally say. suguru takes a step back and stops resting against the railing. you look down at the high drop, then back at the sky â you wouldnât want to jump to conclusions, but you canât help but look at him out of the corner of your peripheral.
( at your absence of an answer, he fills in the quietude for you. )
âwe fight curses, right? to protect civilians?â he runs a hand through his dark hair, the sweaty strands connecting with the callouses that lie embedded his fingertips.
you swallow. âuh-huh.â
âbut whoâs saving us?â
your lips twist into a small pout as you try to comprehend the underlying meaning of his words, you wonder what sort of plan heâs dancing around â why he canât share it with you. he always shared everything with you.
( your mind mainly focuses on that one blanket that he would always hog when he was over, fleece and blue with white polka dots; now faded and worn, and youâre pretty sure it has one hole in it from when satoru tried pulling it towards him at the foot of the bed. )
âcurses are created from human negative energy, the shit that stirs within non-sorcerers that finally manifests itself,â he spits. you donât move.
âi know what you saw out there. about rââ
you cut him off. the topic ends at the beat of your heart.
suguru calls your name softly, looking back at you with furrowed brows and an inquisitive look upon his face. he seems like heâs genuinely considering this, you think.
a pause ensues, and all you hear are the distant chirps of crickets that inhabit the area. suguru doesnât, he only looks at you â his ears drowning out any other noises besides the soft breathing exerted from him. he doesnât seem fazed, heâs thought about this for a while â regardless of your answer, even though he knows itâll hurt him either way.
âsatoru,â you mutter.
âwhat about him?â
âhe doesnât know?â
âthe burden he carries is unlike no other, and i have a feeling we can change that.â he places a soft hand on your shoulder, the warmth of his hand spreading along your arm and only furthering your nausea. âi think you know that, too.â
you turn on your heel, feet similar to lead as it takes everything within you to turn away and head back past the glass, trying to make it back to your dorm before a deft hand catches your wrist. itâs bordering tight, but your head whips around to see him nonetheless.
âpromise, right?â his other hand holds out his pinky â almost ironic in a way. you can feel your eyelids heating with the oncoming wave of tears threatening to spill. you canât though, not now.
it takes a second or two but you apprehensively bring your hand to interlock pinkies, a childish but fond gesture the four of you had always done.
soon, he will have coffee and crepes in the street. heâll breathe in bliss. empty his cup of its grief, for the new life he will lead â you think.
âpromise.â
viii. satoru gojo - the strongest
satoru gojo often feels like heâs not as strong as he can be.
how silly is that?
goodness, to him, is adjacent to a rock flowing slowly through the rapids. heâll float there first. although, he knows itâll follow him â he can only hope heâll meet you in the river, up to his knees, both hands full of something good, like silverfish wriggling for the waters.
a bright, childlike grin on his face as it meets your sheepish one, as if when he were to meet you as a child â being your friend would be worth more than being the heir of the gojo clan. his yukata dirtied and muddy from the cross contaminated water, soaked and dripping once the two of you would make it onto the small rocks. he wouldâve been punished by the elders for the mess he had created, but he wonders if it would have made a difference.
he wonders, if you had been there, whether you would have made a difference.
he knows youâve made one now.
and when he hears the news from yaga, he canât help but clench his fists like his heart had clenched alongside it. his head pounds with blood thumping through his veins as yagaâs voice muffles.
he doesnât remember much â he remembers being told about you and suguru, he remembers yelling, he remembers the hot tears that welled up in his lashes as he walked away. he remembers going back to your dorm room, opening your door, and feeling his gut drop at the sight of it.
satoru remembers the lingering scent of your body spray and how it engulfed your room. the small scratches satoru had carved into your desk with a pencil once he had tried tutoring you (it ended horribly and you didnât get anything done, a smile threatens to tug at his lips at the memory).
the small notes you used to pass in class with shoko folded neatly in an organizer. he picks one up and squints at the shaky kanji of shokoâs handwriting bunched up on the page compared to the way your characters floated on the small ripped piece of paper.
âdid you do #14?â he read shokoâs.
yours read, âyepâ.
he could almost laugh at her last response â which read, ânerd.â
he wonders how youâre doing with suguru â satoru wants to believe you had no part in the massacre he had inflicted on the village but thereâs no way to no for sure, all they can tell is that they found one was suguruâs buttons on the scene. his fingers run along your sheets, neat and made from the days before you had left â he feels his breathing quicken at the sight of your fluffed pillows.
(you knew you were leaving, and that part hurts the most.)
his eyes dance around the decorations of your room, littered with cheery figurines and souvenirs from past missions in shibuya or sapporo, ones youâd always have to march back into satoruâs room for because you knew he had taken at least one.
he had never told you that the only reason he did that wasnât to be obnoxious, but so that he could pull you into his room and coax you to stay a little longer â how heâd promise you wouldnât get into trouble with yaga if you just went out for a plate of takoyaki in the middle of the night.
when he had seen suguru in shinjuku that day, all he could think about was that he wanted to tell you â how he wanted to just see you, even if it was only a glimpse; even if you hadnât said anything to him. he just wanted to see you.
words lingered in his brain, suguruâs request burned into his head. because he didnât come to fight, he didnât come with aggression. he only requested that he saw his side, too. a part of him was relieved you werenât there with him, because he was always weak to you â it wouldâve made it so much harder, he thinks.
has he always felt this way about you? feeling what way? what the fuck is he thinking? he doesn't even know.
there's a big, hot, white ball of something within him â something wiry inside of his gut that cuts and scrapes at every edge inside his intestines. satoru doesnât know what it is but heâs never felt this way before.
but heâll go outside, and heâll see shoko or wave to his classmates. heâll hear the whispers float around in the halls, overshadowing the faint sound of soft laughs he used to hear when heâd bump hips with you when you would take your daily rounds â to help with the dreams you had, you said.
satoru gojo didnât get nightmares, he just woke up with once again another weight on his shoulders the next morning, groggy with the idea of obligations that would only pile up on him. and although satoru never dared to dream when he was asleep ( nor did he know how to dream when he was awake ), he would only pretend to so that he could roam around at night in search of you.
and when heâd find your figure, shaky breaths escaping your lungs with disheveled hair and tear stained eyes â so beautifully illuminated by the celestial pearl in the sky, the only beacon of light suspended in velvet darkness. youâd look up at the moon, perhaps with a prayer in mind, as youâd only think about what to do next.
like always, heâd sneak up behind you. only this time, he wouldnât startle you with a playful call of your name or tap your shoulder and be on the other side to confuse you. heâd merely slip behind you in silence, leaning against the railing of the open-view gap thatâd let you view the outside of the high school. heâd feel you glance at him with a wobbly bottom lip, swollen from the chewing youâd had to do just to silence your cries.
satoru wouldnât say anything. but you knew why he was there.
(or at least, why you thought he was there.)
your head would drop low with eyes screwed shut, and only satoru could hear the quaky breath youâd take as youâd try to compose yourself. azure eyes would rake across your figure with a furrowed brow, he never understood why you were so emotional â yet heâd lay a comforting hand on your back anyway. youâd savor the warmth of his palm with only more tears building up in your lashes.
heâs strong. he has to be â whether itâs for you, for suguru, for jujutsu society; doesnât matter. thatâs neither here nor there. for now, satoru will nurse the thought of your memory until it bleeds and stains the very bed he dreams of you in â knowing heâll awake the next morning and jolt at your absence. heâll then wash his face, hold his head high, and walk right back outside. the hurts only scabs over for the day before he opens it up again the same night.
ix. migration
âyouâ what?â
âiâm going to the states.â
getoâs lips quirk into a soft pout, one youâve gotten accustomed to for the past few years.
âhow come?â he asks softly, albeit you almost frown at his tone. a sound that had come to be so comforting â it tingles at your bones in small zaps and shivers. it makes you feel terrible, but you canât help but indulge in the feeling.
âalways wanted to go,â you shrug. your eyes glance to the girlsâ bedroom; the two twins suguru had found in that small village that had come to be but a large pile of ash and dismay. hand still warm from tucking the two of them in, it fills you with bitter sweetness.
his eyes linger on your face â you can tell he doesnât believe you because he always has this tell, where his lips will shift to the side momentarily as he presses them together, almost in thought. youâre not sure you believe yourself, either.
staying in japan does nothing for you but weigh you down with the slow, imminent guilt that swells your chest from the fact that youâre stuck here. of course, it wasnât an involuntary choice to go with suguru â you felt you had no other choice but to escape the things you had seen at the place that had hurt you most.
although, you canât help but think about the boy whoâs hair lights up the room, whoâs eyes can see right through you â itâs almost unsettling how much you remember the flecks of blue and detail within them, practically painting the sky in those colored irises. often times, youâll lie awake at night; hands folded neatly over your chest as the external stimulus of the outside world provide you with a sense of security, realness.
the expensive eau de cologne of his lingers in your nose, the almost spice of the musk permanently altering your brain thatâs only triggered when you walk past advertisers outside of the store trying to sell a similar scent.
you swear your eyes donât water, even though no oneâs presence is there but yours â so thereâs really nothing to swear about. you just donât want to seem like something youâre so foreign to; vulnerability. letting the tears flow down the curve of your cheekbones. you donât wipe your eyes for itâs the only reminder you have left that that boy exists.
so the next morning, youâll wake up. slumped over from the thing that eats at your bones, your cursed energy being the only thing you can feel running through you.
fingertips coated with the smallest bit of dust, the leather cover of the suitcase is practically unused save for the few times youâd use it when youâd be sent to the outskirts of japan for certain missions. you almost smile at the faint memories that cloud your brain around that time; shokoâs quiet laughs while utahime and you would whine at small inconveniences on the trip. stopping by certain food stalls that werenât available in tokyo, trying new things â it makes you miss it.
but you know you canât go back now.
you pretend not to notice the watery eyes of nanako and mimiko once they see you walking out of the door, nor do you notice suguru watching you walk out the door all the same; the robes clinging onto his figure disfiguring him into a man you no longer knew.
the soft smile that once lied on his young face now replaced by one of feigned amicability; like a customer service smile. youâve known him over a decade and yet it seems like the two of youâve only been roommate faintly acquainted with each other. it makes your heart thump a little harder.
you pretend not to feel the way your throat closes up as a single tear courses down your skin; leaving a residue that coats the linear path trickling down your cheek â this time, you wipe your eyes.
x. (not so) divine intervention
tongue sticking heavy in your mouth, any form of noise that you couldâve possibly made dying on your throat. your hands feel a surge of pressure through them, fingers twitching along as the gears in your head turn.
you look different, he takes note of. your hairs parted a little different, a few inches of extra length added on as well. a smile tugs at his lips; one full of mirth and almost jocularity. you look so clean, healthy â strong. thereâs potential, he realizes, as he searches suguruâs memory bank of you; your face making a constant reoccurrence throughout his mind. the day you left, you cooking for the girls next to him, you lying next to him, your tears that night.
his half-smile only grows wider.
he cocks a brow before he holds his hand up in salutations. he says your name, but itâs not how he would usually say it. itâs almost raspier, lower. your lips press together as you examine him, your eyes keep flitting back up to his head â intricate stitches wrapping around the width of his forehead.
âhey,â geto looks you up and down. âshrimp.â
tilting your head up, you roll your eyes at the nickname before continuing to walk forward. you donât know what you expected because he follows you anyway, hands clasped together under the warmth of the sleeves of his robes.
his soft footsteps easily match your quick ones, stern and at least trying to flee. you donât wanna look at him, whether thatâs because you know youâll crumble or because youâre so upset, you donât know. all you know is that you canât look at him now. even when he observes the bustling streets of and makes passing comments about the citizens of tokyo.
âi wasnât sure that you had gotten back â how come you didnât find me?â he asks, and you know itâs only because heâs fishing.
you spare him a glance out of your peripheral. you frown softly, it doesnât even look like suguru anymore. paler skin, thinner cheekbones, lips now a lighter shade of pink with small cracks lining them. an angry, irritated color begins to form around his forehead where the stitches lay, the thread sunken so deep in his skin that it makes your own head hurt at the probable tightness.
you quietly exhale, but you know he can hear the shaky breath that comes along with it. âdidnât know if you were busy.â
âyou know i can always manage some time for you,â he smiles bittersweetly. tilting his head up, he looks up at the tall buildings that surround you, admiring the straying leaves falling from the trees. one floats down and makes its way onto your head â your eye twitches as he plucks its off your hair before holding it up to his view.
you take your time to look at it, too. itâs starting to brown with the oncoming seasonal change, an amorphous combination of a golden crisp and veranda green.
âiâve been meaning to ask your help with something,â he doesnât look at you, still trained on the leaf. âonly if youâre ready to be my partner in crime, again." he smiles at you, one that seems more like suguru. itâs confident and teasing, and with the way he leans a little more forward brings you memories of his old demeanor back in high school, the way him andâ
you pause, because for a moment, you swear you couldâve seen a glimpse of white hair behind him. itâs almost concerning how quickly your blood runs cold at the thought. itâs not out of dissent nor is it out of a manifest of obscureness to which youâve rendered him to.
but once you hear geto speak of his name â itâs like you crumble all over again. your hands going soft and clammy, your chest surging with an almost sort of giddiness at the thought of him again. just like a wishful coin in a pond, itâs beautiful to know that there are still glimmers of this feeling. even this deep in.
âsuguru?â you tilt your head back, meeting his relaxed gaze as he halts his movements.
âhm?â
âwhat are those?â you gesture to your own forehead, keeping your eyes locked on your head as you talk about the stitches on his own. you donât get a reply.
after that, you donât pay attention half-way through his explanation, stopping him again with a closer step forward as he talks about some sort of plan. really, the only thing you listen to is the small glimpses you hear of satoruâs name. he talks about something going on in shibuya, he talks about jujutsu high â and you would be lying if you said that the mention of the school didnât make you a little sad.
you wonder what satoruâs doing, you wonder what shokoâs doing. hopefully, youâll see them soon â even if itâs just in passing. you know nothing will be the same as it was before, but you can help but wonder what theyâre doing now.
you wonât know her now â but as she puffs the remaining tobacco through the small opening of her swollen lips, shoko shakes her head and looks down at her pinky. she wonders if that promise had gone down the drain like you had. she swears she can feel the corners of her eyes dampen a little.
and you wonât know it either â but satoru canât help but see you everywhere he looks. when he sees the first years walking back home from the mission, he trails behind them just to get the view of them lined up together; yuuji bumping hips with megumi while all he gets is a glare in return. nobara looks up on the sky and drags her feet out of boredom, spewing off mindless bits of chitchat about how she totally âdid thatâ.
his neck will crane up to the horizon as his lips only recite your nothings. all he is sees is sunset, yet heâs scarred with the melancholy he carries. heâll try to close his eyes, your hands coming up to his collarbones before you press down. until heâs bruised with incompetence; until his shame has configured the astronomical.
and satoru will smile, a slew of memories seeping back into the curves of his brain as he thinks back to those times of you â of suguru, shoko, nanami. he never stopped hurting that day, but he canât help but smile at the sight of something begun anew.
oh well, satoru thinks â he can only wonder to what youâre doing now. something inside him hopes for a day where heâll see you soon. heâll wait for the day where heâll see you soon.

For kitten knight AU, might be hitting to close to home, sorry :(
What about a time when Daniel gets too injured/gets overlooked to join a mission and is miserable and needing his kitten Max's comfort upon his return?
I am so so sorry this has taken me so long and there is actually zero kitten time in this, but I hope you'll forgive me. There's another ask in my inbox that might get the kitten time related to this (when I'll get to it. again, i'm sorry, it's been a lot lately)
The knife had come out from nowhere.
One moment Daniel was walking the rounds in the lower city with Alex, chatting about nothing, probably paying not enough attention to his surroundings, and the next three thugs had jumped out of the shadows brandishing clubs.
It should have been an easy fight, clubs against swords, but they were in a narrow street, which made maneuvering around each other harder, and both Daniel and Alex had been surprised, reacting just a little too late. Daniel had stopped the first swing of a club with the hilt of his sword, not an ideal move, before being able to go on the attack. He had heard Alex swear behind him, but he'd been unable to check.
And then, just as he had kicked the club out of the hand of his thug and forced him to the ground with the threat of his blade, he had felt a sharp pain on his side, a burst of white hot flames lapping at his nerves, and he had fallen to his knees with a cry.
He isn't sure what had happened after that, his brain confused by adrenaline and pain, but he remembers someone running away, Alex swearing more, the sharp whistle of a call for help, the blurry travel back to the castle.
He had been lucky, the doctor who had stitched him up had said. Lucky, that the guy hadn't taken the blade out after stabbing him, keeping the blood loss to a minimum. Lucky, that it hadn't really hit anything important. Lucky, that the wound hadn't got infected.
And yet, Daniel doesn't feel very lucky, laying in bed, side throbbing, watching Max walk out the door. He feels stupid, for letting himself get stabbed, and already lonely.
The thing is, he was supposed to be heading away with Max too. He had been picked for the mission some time ago, for his ability to keep Max calm and to charm people, but now he has to look while George goes with Max and the rest of the group.
Daniel doesn't have anything again George, he likes George, really, but right now he sort of wishes that George was laying in a bed with a stab wound instead.
He doesn't particularly care about the mission. A noble somewhere near the southern border is rumored to be planning a coup, and Max is heading there to talk and, more importantly, to scare the man to death.
Daniel doesn't give a shit about the mission. He understands the importance of it, a coup would be bad for the kingdom in general and for him in particular, would mean battles and death, but he can admit to himself and the mission could be going to count all the cows in the kingdom and he'd care exactly the same amount.
But he wanted to go. With Max.
He's been thinking about it lately, and he knows he won't be able to be a King's guard forever. There are people in the guard who are happy to grow old like this, who consider the barracks their home, the guards their family, the protection of the King their life purpose. But not Daniel.
He's tired.
He has grown disillusioned in the King's justice, knows that while he's not a bad King, he's not a good one either, and he has grown tired of the night shifts, of the stiff beds, of the endless rounds.
He keeps dreaming about a different life. A small house with a garden, maybe a goat. A soft bed. Waking up with the sunrise, going to bed with the sunset, only seeing midnight if he wants to see it. Maybe living off of something he can do that isn't just swinging a blade.
The problem is. The problem is that none of that, not the house, the bed, the goat, would matter without Max. He wants his life with Max.
And he's not sure that, if presented with the choice between Daniel and the guards, Max would choose him.
So this mission would have been maybe one of his last chances to do something with Max. To be out in the world with him, to spend time together, to maybe find the courage to ask him what he would do if Daniel was to quit, if he would stay, if he would follow.
But he got himself stabbed, and now he's laying in a bed, alone and miserable, missing Max more than the situation would probably call for.
The days are slow.
For the first few he's not allowed to get up, and even if his friends come to see him, and the doctor visits him, he spends long hours staring at the wall, ignoring the books someone had brought him, the letters he could be writing, and thinking about Max and his dream goat instead.
His chest aches with how much he misses him, how much he wants.
Max doesn't write.
Daniel wasn't expecting him to, even if he's sure he sent pigeons for the King, wasn't expecting him to ask about Daniel in the official documents, but he's disappointed anyway, heart aching just a little bit more.
As soon as he's allowed to get up, he goes outside.
He knows he's not technically allowed to exert himself, but he needs to move, he needs to breathe, he needs to empty his brain of all these thoughts and just exist for a while. He climbs to the top of the inner walls, regrets it about five times on the way up and seven on the way down. He goes for a walk out towards the hill, having to sit down an embarrassing amount of times on the way there. He goes to the armory, annoys GP into giving him something to do, then to the stables, until even the horses are unsettled by his nervous energy.
Sleeping at night is hard. He misses Max's solid weight on his side, misses his soft warmth on top of his chest even more. He lays awake for hours, unable to turn around as he'd like because his side still fucking hurts, straining his ears to listen for a purr that doesn't exist.
He waits and waits and waits.
The day Max is supposed to come back, he doesn't.
He sends a pigeon ahead, telling the King they are safe, but a flood had forced them to not use the ford the were planning to and directing them to a bridge further away, delaying their travel of a day. GP is the one who tells Daniel, coming back to the armory where Daniel had been cleaning already shining blades, and Daniel gets out and up to the east tower, cursing every single step all the way up.
He sits there until the sun sets and he grows too cold, gritting his teeth as he climbs the stairs back down and avoiding the mess hall, not feeling like talking to anyone.
That night he curls up tight around a small warm body that isn't there, ignoring the pull of the stitches.
The day after he wakes up to the feeling of the blankets being moved.
He snaps his eyes open, cursing himself for letting someone get this close without noticing, already fumbling for the knife he keeps tied to one of the bed legs, when a hand closes around his and he finally registers the voice speaking to him.
"Daniel, Daniel, it's me, it's fine, it's me."
And then finally, finally, he realises it's Max.
For a moment, he feels like his brain freezes.
Max is there, he can see he's there, but it makes no sense. Max is supposed to still be half a day away, and even if he has arrived already, he's supposed to be debriefing with the King. He's not supposed to be here, wearing barely any clothes, slipping into Daniel's bed.
"Max? What?" is all he manages to say, his voice rough.
Max pushes him slightly, still trying to get into bed, but Daniel doesn't move, too surprised and confused to comply.
"I decided to travel all night. The guys weren't happy, but we got here early" Max explains, fidgeting with the corner of the blanket.
"The King?" Daniel asks, still hesitating
"I wrote the report while traveling and left it for him. I'll talk to him later." Max shrugs, then looks up at Daniel, his cheeks red. "I missed you."
And then finally Daniel's brain catches up with the fact that Max is really here, and he realises there are so many better things he could be doing instead of asking Max questions.
Max lets out a surprised squeak when Daniel lunges at him, wrapping his arms around and squeezing him into a hug, burying his face into the familiar slope of his shoulder and breathing him in.
"I missed you too. I missed you so much, Maxy, I missed you," Daniel babbles, feeling Max's arm wrap around his back much more carefully, his hands moving up and down in a soothing motion.
"It was only ten days," Max says, even as he holds Daniel just as tightly.
It feels much more than ten days when they finally kiss. It feels like a month, like way too long. It feels like filling the hole in Daniel's chest, like fixing his lungs, like slowing his brain. It feels like he was the one who was gone too, and is just now coming home.
"I missed you," he says again when they separate, following Max back down on the pillow, letting him rearrange the blankets around them both.
"I missed you too," Max murmurs back, rubbing his nose against Daniel's cheek. "I almost killed George. More than once."
It startles a laugh out of Daniel, which makes Max laughs too, the sounds merging in the little space left between them.
Daniel isn't planning on saying it, but as soon as he stops laughing, he opens his mouth and blurts:
"I missed my kitten too."
He feels Max go rigid, looking at him with wide eyes, his ears red.
And then he softens, a small smile, much shyer than usual, making its way onto his lips.
"Yeah?" he asks, uncertain, as if Daniel would ever lie about it.
Daniel shuffles even closer, tucking Max under his chin, dropping a kiss onto his hair.
"Yeah," he murmurs. "I kept imagining you were here, that I could hear you purr."
Max's hands flex on his back, muscles tensing briefly like they always do when Daniel mentions out loud one of his cat behaviors, before letting go.
"We don't have time now, I don't know when they'll call for me, but..." Max hesitates for a second, fingers twisting into Daniel's sleep shirt, "I missed that too. I..if you would like, later?"
Daniel smiles, kissing Max's hair again.
"I would love to."
They don't fall asleep, but they hold each other close, listening to the quiet for a while. Daniel will ask about Max's journey later, about George and about the mission, and even later he'll get to cuddle with a soft little kitten, but for now he just wants to feel Max's body in his arms.
He thinks about the house, the bed, the goat, and a kitten. Thinks that maybe, when he'll ask, Max will choose him.

Main Masterlist || Tony Stark || Sugar Daddy!Tony Stark || Summer of Drabbles
Teasing your boyfriend has always been something you thoroughly enjoy, but your favorite pastime is to do it while heâs in a meeting, such as a debriefing after a mission. From sending photos of you wearing clothing that leaves very little to the imagination to tell him all your plans for him in intimate details, youâve done it all more than once. Tony not-so-secretly loves your teasing, though he sometimes wishes youâd time it better, as you often do it when he least expects it.
Now, after youâve given your black cat, Moon, a much-needed bath after he knocked over your flour jar in the kitchen - turning him practically white as a ghost - youâre settled on the couch with a blanket and the TV going when the idea of teasing him again pops into your head. You immediately grab your phone before quickly opening the chat with your boyfriend; your bottom lip is pulled between your teeth as a wave of excitement makes your stomach somersault.
Sugar - Iâve been a naughty girl, DaddyâŚ
As Tony sees the message on the screen, he grabs his phone from the table to ensure it says what he thinks it does. His cheeks get a dark red tint, and his pants become tight. He tries his hardest to keep his mind on what Steve is saying as theyâre debriefing the mission they came back from yesterday, but itâs starting to become impossible when all he can think about is you being the naughty girl he knows you can be.
Tony - I know youâve been a naughty girl for me, Sugar. How about you show me exactly how much of a bad girl youâve been when I return from my meeting?
As always, Tony is a man of his word, and as soon as heâs home, you obediently follow him to his office. He grabs your hand as the door falls shut behind you, pulling you towards the chair behind the large wooden desk. Once Tony is seated, he spreads his legs slightly, allowing you to stand between them as his fingers trail over the bare skin of your legs that emerges from your shorts.
âYou know what I havenât been able to stop thinking about?â Tony asks, his eyes looking at you with a softness youâve come to love from him. The corners of his mouth slightly curl up as he thinks about his next words, while curiosity piques within you.
âIâve been constantly thinking that you look so pretty on your knees. The way your eyes go glassy when you get even remotely close to my thick, long, throbbing, and leaking cock, your tongue already out of your mouth as youâre eagerly waiting for a taste,â he says, a groan audible as he readjusts himself in his jeans. A soft whimper leaves your lips as his nimble digits gently dig into the plush flesh of your thigh, a smirk now lying on your boyfriend's lips.
âI want you on your knees, now.â The way he says the words, with an authority that has you moaning softly as your panties are slowly being ruined, makes you instantly obey him as you step back to kneel on the soft carpet underneath his boots.
âGood girl.â
You smile at the praise he gives you, and you patiently wait for his following words. Before he says them, Tony lets his fingers glide over your cheek before tilting your head slightly, allowing him to make direct eye contact with you.
âAre you still okay with what weâre doing, Sugar?â he asks softly, the corners of his eyes slightly crinkling as he furrows his brows. Your heart swells with love as you show him a small smile and nod in response.
âI am, Daddy. I promise. I like it when you play with me like Iâm nothing more than a fucktoy or a hole to use for your pleasure,â you tell him in a soft but confident voice, and he nods approvingly at your words. When he lets go of your face, itâs like his entire demeanor does a complete 180-degree turn, but in the best way possible. While he was horny before, he has turned feral now.
That evening, you start by giving Tony a blowjob he'll never forget, as he'll feel like his soul is being sucked out through his cock. Then Tony takes his time to ruin every last one of your holes in his office, leaving you barely able to walk before carrying you to the penthouse for a relaxing bath. As youâre soaking in the tub, you like to cuddle close to your boyfriend as he feeds you the most delicious berries and other fruits, his hands never leaving your skin for even a second.
âI love you, Sugar. Even if youâre a little tease now and again,â he says with a smile, and you smile sleepily before humming in response, sleep taking you under not long after.

hi friend, you still have the potential to be sued here in the US, even if youâre not using images. Thatâs a big part of why authors likes Anna Todd, scrubbed After (with all references to Harryâs name) from the internet when she started charging for it and before any publication would take an interest. (Before anyone comes for me, Iâm sure the original has been saved by some third part somewhere. This is the internet after all. But the point remains if she were to be sued, she is able to claim that she did her due diligence by removing any and all content with any reference to Harry Styles from the internet BEFORE she received any payment.) The US is currently starting to crack down on copyright and intellectual property infringement. In large part due to the fact that so many people have received huge payouts over the last ten years. Unfortunately theyâre not choosing to go after the ones that have actually gotten rich from the issue. And while the drivers might not care. Their management most certainly will. If youâre choosing to charge for your fiction it might be best to at the very least change names so you might have some form of deniability.
this was an interesting ask, thanks for the heads up again!
I'm not trying to go against your word, but rather wondering about the topic myself because it seems to me it's a huge gray area, so feel free to reach me on my private messages or on anon again if you want. But speaking about Anna Todd, technically she could still be sued even after scrubbing Harry's name from the story because there was still proof on the internet that it was a story about him, if we're talking about defamation it doesn't need to involve the monetization aspect, it's still defamation without it. This would mean that ANY RPF fanfiction is illegal and could be sued (which is not necessarly the case because theres the whole fair use thing).
We're talking about huge payouts, but I'm getting less than fifty dollars a month with Patreon lol would their team really come for me (a poor grad student) on behalf of a billionaire for getting less than fifty dollars a month to help pay school and medical bills? this would need a huge pr work too to make them seem good after doing something so crazy like this.
Talking about defamation, let's say I change names, but this Tumblr would still be up and everything else would easily show that it's about pilot X, this could still be considered illegal because you can tell who it is about. The reason why nobody comes for rpf is because 1) the money people are talking about is just a few bucks most of the time, and 2) it's exactly this real people's FICTION, there's not much to talk about defamation of a worldwide artist when the content you're sharing is for a nich of less than one hundred people, it's not reasonable. I haven't found a past decision about something similar in the US court, if there is, please send it in, but other than that it's a huge speculation thing in my head, which only a judge could clarify.
Patreon and monetizing fanfiction is quite common in fandoms like Chris Evans', for example, and I haven't seen anything legal come from it yet. again because it's unreasonable for those artists to go after their own fans for taking less than a hundred dollars in content that clearly sets a fictional character that just happens to look and have the same name as them because more often than not it's set in an alternative universe.
#this is probably all over the place Im sorry but Im just tired (as in I haven't had a good night of sleep)#also again this is not me trying to go against whatever you said but rather sharing my bits to how I see it if there's something concrete +#pls sned it in#or if there's a fault in what I said feel free to point it#but just letting you know that I might take a few to answer or just not answer because this subject is taking a toll on me#I've seen a few writers doing it on f1blr but people had to point it out because I did it like lol chill#anyways#thanks for adding this btw you sounded more mindful than mean (which i don't think you were trying to sound so all good <3)#millies inbox#anon#f1 fandom#fanfic patreon#it is easier to see those legal problems coming from fanfics that involve the Copyright aspect#anna todd is very specific case in my head#but yeah#it would only make sense if the work were talking about was a seeies#series*#Im not on the hs fandom and I have seen quite a few patreons for him soâŚ#yeah#its a gray area in my head

#something i've been thinking about for a while now#is how much context matters in fandoms especially when talking about things like racism and other bigotry#the stuff i saw after 4x01 will stay with me forever#the way people were not only so mad at carlos but also how some of them went to other peoples' inboxes#people who weren't mad at him or hadn't decided his character had been ruined#and were basically like 'how can you still like him how can you support him after this'#'people supporting him and still caring about him just means he'll be able to continue avoiding and poor tk will just have to deal with it'#that part's been so hard to shake because that's not criticism#going to peoples' inboxes who still liked him and were giving him grace and asking how they could implying he didn't deserve it#if you felt he was ruined that's fine that's you but to go to other people who did not feel that way and be upset they didn't#as if a character of color being given grace and patience is a commonplace thing in fandom lol#as if people that look like carlos in the real world are regularly given grace (they're not)#it's not that some people weren't able to empathize with his decisions it's that they got angry at people who were able to.#because apparently he didn't deserve it.#and i've watched this sentiment grow stronger and stronger for almost two years and it is just.... i don't even know#when we talk about things like empathy and understanding in relation to carlos it is loaded#it does come from this#and i really think that's important to understand it's necessary context#peoples' strong feelings about this have not just sprung up out of nowhere#if you've been here since then you know how everything went down#i don't know. i think sometimes the urge to punish him feels really strong and i can't understand it#and it's hard to take particularly now because we know why he's struggling and we have all of the context#and yet. still.#idk what my point is i just need it to be known that nothing happening right now exists in a vacuum

Joe talks about JaâMarr
A big part of the success of the Bengals the past two seasons has been the connection between yourself and Ja'Marr Chase. You two seemingly had instant chemistry the moment you stepped on the field at LSU and it carried over to the NFL. What is it about him that makes him special, and makes you two special as a tandem?
Well, I think part of establishing that connection on the field first is establishing that connection off the field and we're really good friends. We have a strong bond off the field and that translates onto the field. I think everybody can see that. And you're not going to be a great team if your best players aren't close, trust each other and work really hard. And I think as a team, all of our guys that are in that position have those traits.Â
[...]
Itâs clear JaâMarr has trust and belief in you. He recently called you the best player in the NFL, which led to Patrick Mahomes responding at the Chiefs ring ceremony, and Travis Kelce responding as well. Did you pay any mind to that, and if so what was your reaction?
The best thing about that is it's all settled on the field. So we'll see them in December.Â
#joe burrow#ja'marr chase#'i think everybody can see that' :)#i do like that people ask joe about ja'marr#(for obvious reasons) and because so many of ja'marr's questions are about joe#it's nice to see that it happens to joe too#anyway love the on brand response to the trash talk#he doesn't have to say shit - his playing will talk for him (and also ja'marr. ja'marr will readily and enthusiastically talk for him)#ask#anon#thank you anon!! i love all of you (or just one of you??) that come to my inbox to gift me with little bits of joe and ja'marr news#blessed

Might turn off my inbox but who knows.
#to kinda vent for a moment#I guess the thing about this whole Belos anon thatâs been irritating me the most is that#this is the only way Iâve ever gotten people to actually talk to me#I know Iâm not popular but thereâs just something about the fact that#this is the only thing people ever want my opinions on things is when itâs about Belos#thereâs nearly a hundred characters in TOH and the ONLY ONE yall ever want to talk to me about#is the colonizer who Iâve said just about everything I can about him#and itâs not that I donât appreciate people sending me to âcleanse my inboxâ#but it also kinda irritates me because the only time I get these questions is just in reference to Belos#and not because people just genuinely want to talk to me/want to get to know about how I feel#Iâm in so many fandoms with so many opinions and Iâve reblogged so many unanswered ask games#and I think the root of this irritation comes from the fact that it makes me feel isolated

masterlist | twisters masterlist
What happens that particular Tuesday afternoon should have been impossible. That's what goes through your head about a bazillion times in the following days. The chances of what happens even happening are about as close to zero, you think, as the possibility of you discovering a cure for cancer.
(They're not. Of course. But it feels like that.)
Because you're not even really in Oklahoma. You're just driving through Oklahoma. You're not from a place where they give you a 'How to Deal with Tornados' manual in school. You're entirely, completely, wholly unprepared for what's brewing as you drive down almost empty highways with the radio all the way up.
So when suddenly, you're in the middle of a storm, with the wind picking up until it drowns out your music and rain and hail slashing against your windows, you're absolutely terrified.
It forms within a few minutes, goes from barely grey skies to a horrible, horrible whirl of almost black clouds, and the insecurity you'd been feeling turns into the gut-churning realisation that you're unquestionably fucked.
Some part of your brain tugs out a deeply buried memory of cars being sucked into tornados on the news, so with your heart racing a few hundred miles per hour and your hands shaking so badly you can barely hold onto the steering wheel anymore, you maneuver your car onto the side of the road, just in time for you to be climbing out of the passenger seat as another car comes to a shrieking halt next to yours.
You're getting drenched within half a second, you're honestly not that sure whether your cheeks are wet from the rain or your tears, and on top of that, you almost trip as you set your trembling feet onto the ground below. The other car's driver bangs their door shut with a resounding thud that makes you flinch so hard you think your soul leaves your body. Your head shoots up as he shouts at you, already three steps away from his truck:
"What the hell are you doing out here?"
He's drenched, too - his hair sticks to his face and his shirt clings to his skin and his pants are stained at least a shade darker. But unlike you, he's not shaking, he's steady as a fucking rock, steady and quick, already reaching out for your arm before you can even begin to think. Your brain lags behind, foggy and cloudy and scared, so fucking scared. You're so terrified you can hardly open your mouth.
"I-", you stutter, then he's wrapping his big hand around your arm and tugging you away from your car, away from the road already.
"We need to get the fuck down!", he calls, pulling you with him onto one of those many, many fields that surround you. "There's a ditch over there, see that?"
You're wide-eyed, shaking, basically being dragged along by him - one foot in front of the other, that's what your brain's concentrating on right now, which is easier said than done. You trip over your own feet every other step. But the guy just wraps his arm around your waist and hurries further.
"Do you see that?", he asks again when you don't respond. Your mind races even faster than your heart does, but you force yourself to concentrate on his voice. The panic doesn't lessen, but his question shifts your focus. Ditch. Ditch. Not the storm raging around you, no, you're looking for a ditch. You're focusing on finding a ditch.
"Yeah", you breathe, your eyes finally catching on the ditch only a bit away.
"Yeah?", the guy shouts. "We need to get there. We need to get low."
With that, he picks up his pace once more and you stumble along, bumping into his side, watching the ditch come closer and closer and closer until your feet are drowned in dirty, muddy water.
"Alright, get down!", he shouts, unwrapping his arm from around your waist to help you into the cold, cold water. "Hold onto the ground!"
You aren't thinking. You can't think. Your brain has shut off completely. Panic numbs every part of you. All you can do, all you can possibly do, is concentrate on the voice of the man who's crouching down beside you. It's like his words have replaced your own thoughts, and like a marionette, you stretch out your arms and dig your fingers into the grass. Which is way easier said than done. You're pretty sure you feel one of your nails break as you try your hardest to find something, anything to hold onto. And then the wind hits.
If you'd thought you'd experienced heavy winds before, you were wrong. So wrong. No vacation in a surfer's town could possibly compare to this.
"Fuck!", you scream, instinctively dropping your head onto the moist grass below. The wind pulls and pulls and pulls at you and you imagine yourself being dragged by it - dragged away, away into certain death. But then an arm wraps around you, and the guy next to you is not next to you anymore but half on top of you, securing you in his arms, holding you close, pressing you to the ground.
"Stay down!", he shouts as you cling to the grass. "I got you."
I got you.
You replay that in your head like a mantra - he's got you, he's got you, he's got you. You're trembling, you're shaking, you're cramping, you're trying to hold onto the ground with all your might as the wind grows and grows and grows and pulls and pulls and pulls at you.
You want to scream. You think you're screaming. But it's so loud. It's deafening, the roar of the wind and the thunder. You can't hear yourself scream.
He can, though. He can. And he tightens his arms around you and repeats "I got you, I got you, I got you". And you believe him. You have to.
You're crying now, you're sure of that. Some part of you hurts. Maybe all of you hurts. You're scared. You're not just scared, you're terrified. It's loud, it's loud and it's everywhere, all around you.
And then suddenly - there's nothing.
It disappears within seconds.
There's no sounds. None. There's silence, deafening silence. Forget the calm before the storm - this is the silence after the tornado.
You take a few shuddering breaths. You're trembling, trembling from head to toes. You're soaked. You're cold.
"Alright, it's gone", the guy says - the guy that's still got his arms wrapped around you, who's still on top of you. "You did it."
He pulls his arm away from you and rolls onto his back next to you. Water sloshes around as he goes.
You don't move an inch.
You can't move.
You're stuck, you're frozen in place. Your fingers are cramped into the dirt and the grass and you're frozen.
The guy sits back up again and reaches out for you. He smooths his hand down your back, surprisingly warm against your ice-cold skin.
"Hey", he says softly. "You're okay. You can get up."
You pry your fingers from the ground one by one, flex your trembling hands and push yourself upright. It takes a few seconds for reality to sink in - you're in a ditch. In a ditch. You're soaked, soaked with muddy ditch water. Your shoes are drenched, your legs splattered with dirt, the hem of your dress soaked in brown. And you're cold. Ice-cold and trembling. And your legs hurt, your arms hurt, your fingers hurt. Three of your nails are cracked.
You're sitting in a ditch in the middle of Oklahoma and you'd just been through a tornado. A fucking ditch in Oklahoma and a tornado.
And a guy, a guy who's brushing his hand down your arm and eyeing you up.
"Alright, let's get you out of here, you're shaking", he says and for the first time, you turn your head and look at him. Actually look at him.
He's tall and he's blonde and he's drenched, too, drenched in that same dirty, muddy water as you. His hands are big, big and pleasantly warm as he grabs softly onto you and carefully maneuvers you towards him.
You don't really remember the next minutes. Not what you're doing, at least. It's a hazy, fuzzy passing of time - you barely remember that you're moving. You're cold and scared and still in shock and somehow, your eyes have locked onto him, onto this guy who you realise probably just saved your fucking life. Because when you come back to reality, he's wrapping a blanket around you - a dry, warm blanket - and the spot where you'd parked your car is empty.
Empty.
"My car", you whisper, staring wide-eyed at absolutely nothing. The guy wraps the blanket tighter around you before he looks over his shoulder and glances around.
"Your car's not that important", he reassures, even though his voice is heavy. Heavy and raspy, you realise. He's got a certain Southern twang to it that you hadn't noticed in all the chaos before. "Much more important is that you're alive."
You nod half-heartedly (he's right, some rational part of your brain shouts, while the practical part mourns the shit ton of money you'd just lost) and settle your eyes back on him.
You don't know what it is, exactly, but something about this, something about the warmth of the blanket and the way he's rubbing your arms, something about him, about his voice and his words, slowly peels away the layers and layers of terror that are clinging to your pounding heart.
You swallow hard, reach up to tug the blanket tighter around yourself and shift your focus. Not the car or the tornado or the fact that you're drenched in dirty ditch water - him. This guy in front of you, who's looking you up and down to check if you're hurt. It's easier that way. It's easier to calm down when you're not thinking about any of it. It's easier when you're staring at him, counting to ten, slowly regaining your sanity. And what's suddenly also easier is realising that this guy in front of you is very much easy to look at. Even though his hair sticks to his head, even though his jeans are stained brown. He's what you'd expect as a reference picture next to the word "handsome" in a dictionary.
All of a sudden, you're not as cold anymore. All of a sudden, you're rather flushed. Because if he's drenched and dirty, you must look about the same. And you don't think you want him to see you like that. You'd much rather meet him in a bar or something, when you're dressed up and clean and preferably not terrified.
"Thanks", you get out, a little too quickly as you tighten the blanket further around yourself. "For, uh, for saving my life."
The guy's lips quirk up and he grins, a lopsided, half-cocky grin that makes your heart leap.
"Anytime, sweetheart", he drawls, then reaches up as though he wants to tip his hat - just that he's not wearing one, so instead, he settles for brushing his hand through his hair, just a second too late to seem intentional from the start. "Why were you out here anyway? Half a mile back is a gas station with a basement."
"I didn't-", you start, hesitant to admit just how unprepared you'd been for what had happened. "I didn't know it was a tornado. I thought it was just a bad storm or something, I'm... I'm not from around here."
He nods at you, his lips already parting when you suddenly twitch away from him and sneeze - once, then twice. His grin has dropped by the time you look up at him again and excuse yourself. God, is this embarrassing.
"You need dry clothes before you catch a cold", he says, his eyes travelling down your soaked dress and your bare legs. "I've got a shirt in the trunk, give me a minute."
He walks towards the back of his car and opens up his trunk and you're hit with two thoughts at the same time. The first is more along the lines of goddamn, are his shoulders broad, but the second - arguably the one that should be more important - is why the fuck his car is still standing in the very same spot he'd parked it before the tornado had hit.
Especially when your car is absolutely nowhere to be seen. Your car and all your things inside it. Oh, god-
"Here you go", he says, holding out a dry copy of the shirt he's wearing, red checkered cotton. He's about to go on when you blurt out:
"Sorry, why's your car still... you know, there?"
His lips pull into that impossibly charming grin once more and he points at the underside of the truck.
"Tornado-proof", he explains, just the slightest bit cocky. You follow the invisible line he's drawing to two... what looks like giant screws? twisted into the ground below.
"Oh", you let out, not too intelligently - but really, what are you supposed to say?
He just chuckles and holds the shirt out for you again. You take it carefully, your fingers grazing his. He's so warm, so fucking warm. Meanwhile you're shaking even underneath the blanket he'd given you. Though that's also starting to get soaked.
"You can change in the car if you want", he offers, already pulling open the door to the passenger seat. You don't really have to think hard about it. You're drenched in the middle of nowhere, with no way to get home, and this guy has just saved your life. So you unwrap the blanket and give it back to him with a smile and a thanks.
It's tight and cramped inside the car, even as you roll the seat all the way back. You pry the drenched dress off of your body and only then remember to turn around and check if the guy is watching you (as handsome as he is, he's still a guy). But no, he's turned away, has his hands rested against his hips and is staring intently at the slowly clearing sky.
You turn back with a smile and get rid of your soaked bra, too, before you pull his shirt on over your head.
Damn, it smells good. He smells good. And it's very comfortable, you have to admit. Plus, it's dry, which is most definitely an improvement.
You take a few seconds to consider whether or not to pull off your shorts... but they're drenched, too, and the guy seems respectful enough to not risk a bladder infection for. So you take your shoes off, and your socks, and your shorts. And then you crack open the car door again and knock softly against the window.
"I'm done", you call out, loud enough that he can hear. He turns back and his eyes drag down your body - or what of it he can see through the open door - and even though he looks right back up at your face, you can't help but feel flustered. You ball your wet clothes up in your hands nervously.
"Alright then", he says, takes a step closer and reaches for the door handle. "You said you're not from around here, where were you driving?"
Ah, right, that part.
Honestly, with so much happening in so few minutes, you'd about blocked out everything else. Everything normal.
"My parents, uh-", you start, trailing off when you realise that's not much help for him. "About three, four hours from here."
"That's quite a drive", he chuckles. "I live maybe half an hour from here, how about I take you with me so you can eat and drink something? Maybe you can borrow a pair of Lilly's pants. And you could phone your parents."
Your tongue darts out to wet your lips and you narrow your eyes at him, taking a second too long to even understand all of what he's saying before taking another second too long to sort how you'll respond. Then you start with what you find most important.
"I've got my phone", you tell him, pulling it out from where you'd just deposited it in the centre console. "I had it in my pocket."
You'd taken it with you more reflexively than consciously when you'd stumbled out of your car - but truly, what self-respecting adult didn't take their phone with them when they left anywhere?
The guy just raises his eyebrows and glances at your phone.
"And it still works?", he asks, a little incredulously.
"Yep", you smile - for the first time, you realise, since the tornado. "It's waterproof."
More because you'd been scared you'd drop the love of your life into the pool or the ocean on vacation, but a tornado in the middle of Oklahoma worked as well. At least you now knew you'd spent your money wisely.
"Smart", he grins. You can't help but grin right back.
He's charming and he's respectful and he looks so goddamn good.
"Who's Lilly?", you ask then, because that had been the second thing you'd wanted to say. He hesitates for a half a moment.
"A friend", he says. You squint at him. He doesn't look like he's lying, but he does look like there's something you don't know about. God, if he turns out to be a cheater- "I'll introduce you if you'd like."
You raise your eyebrows. Alright, so not a cheater. And, if you're interpreting correctly, another invitation to come with him. Not that you'd been about to refuse the first one.
"Sure", you say, as casually as you can. "I didn't really feel like standing around half-naked on the street anyway."
...
A few minutes later, he's driving his weird car/truck with the screws on the bottom down the empty highway. Though 'empty' is the wrong description, really - here and there, trees, road signs and utility poles are scattered on the pavement.
You're driving in silence. Well, silence as in neither of you talks, not as in actual silence. Alongside the motor, the radio had turned on, playing one country song after the other.
"You never told me your name", the guy says suddenly. The very much stranger, who's very much right - you'd never told him your name.
"You never told me yours", you counter, because that's also the truth. He'd never told you his name. You knew his friend's name, but not his.
"Didn't think I'd have to", he mutters under his breath, so quietly you barely catch it. "It's Tyler. Tyler Owens?"
He says it like it's a question. You don't know why. So instead you just answer with your own name and Tyler, as you'd come to know, repeats it with a smile on his lips.
God, you don't think it's ever sounded that good.
"Pretty name", he says, all casual like that doesn't get your heart racing again. Pretty. He'd called you pretty. Almost unconsciously, you brush your hands through your hair.
"Thank you", you mutter. As if to distract yourself, you add: "So, Tyler, what do you do?"
...
Exactly half an hour later, Tyler takes your hand in his and helps you out of his car. His house - the one he's sharing with Lilly, you'd found out, with Lilly and the rest of his Tornado Wranglers - is big and inviting. It's a little way off from any other houses, which you personally think is quite nice. Not that you say that, though.
Tyler walks you inside without having to unlock the door. He takes two steps, then he calls out "Guys, we've got a guest", which immediately results in a surprised shout of "whoops" and the sound of a set of feet scurrying up the stairs. Tyler has barely pulled off his shoes (after politely asking you to wait just a second) when a head pops through the doorframe at the end of the hallway.
"Boone was naked", the woman grins before settling her eyes on you and throwing you a wave. "Hey there, I'm Lilly."
She glances down at your bare legs.
"A little cold there?", she asks and even though her words are sarcastic, her voice is anything but.
"A little", you answer truthfully, smiling at her as she steps out into the hallway.
"You want a pair of pants?", she asks, seemingly without giving a single thought to who you are or why you're standing half-naked in her hallway.
You glance at Tyler, but he's grinning and only shrugs at you, so you turn back to Lilly and nod at her. She seems sweet, really sweet, and very kind. She takes you with her to her room (up two sets of stairs, the fucking house has three floors and a basement) and shows you her closet, the very definition of unbothered even as you nervously rummage through her clothes.
"Hey, you can take a shirt too, if you want", she says, flopping down onto her bed and rolling onto her side to look at you.
"Oh", you let out and glance down at the shirt you're wearing - Tyler's shirt, that very country, checkered shirt that's way too big for you. "I'm fine, thanks."
Honestly, if it were up to you, you would never wear anything else ever again. Tyler's shirt is soft and comfortable and - most importantly - it smells like him. You really just want to tug the hem up to your nose and breathe in his scent (but that would be weird, so you don't).
"Alright", Lilly drawls. "Your choice."
...
Lilly shows you the bathroom, gives you the wifi password and tells you to come down whenever you feel like it. You realise half a second too late that you haven't told her your name yet and crack open the bathroom door to call out for her.
Honestly, you like her. You really like her. And you really like Tyler, too. He's handsome and he smells good and he's respectful and he's nice and he saved your fucking life today. You don't even want to think about what would have happened to you if he hadn't driven by.
In the bathroom is the first time you can really breathe. You throw some water at your face and blowdry your hair. Ten minutes later, you're walking down the stairs into the hallway again - this time, when you stroll through there, you're wearing comfortable pants, fuzzy socks and take your time to look around.
You'd already called your parents back in the car with Tyler. They'd been about as shocked as you'd expected, had needed a few minutes to even understand just what you were telling them, but then they'd offered to come pick you up immediately. Tyler had provided them his address and now here you are - knocking at the open door to the kitchen, where all of the Tornado Wranglers sit around the table. All of them, except for Tyler, who's leaning against the countertop and looks up at you with a grin when you step in.
"Hey there", he drawls, his eyes raking down your body once more today - you've tucked his shirt into Lilly's pants and you could swear his eyes linger on your waist. "Warm and dry?"
"Very", you grin back, then nod at Lilly. "Thanks again."
She shakes her head and waves you off.
"Hey, no big deal. Do you want some pasta?"
...
It's comfortable there, in the kitchen of these strangers who are feeding you pasta and lending you clothes. You've settled onto the countertop next to Tyler and now and then, when you're dangling your feet or he's taking a bite, your legs graze his arm. He's changed into dry clothes too, you realise as you brush against him for the first time, and he's even warmer now than before.
"Tyler's told us all about you", Boone says after a few minutes of easy conversation. You raise your eyebrows and turn your head, staring at Tyler from the side.
"Has he?", you ask, because you hadn't even told him enough about yourself to warrant any use of the word 'all'. Sure, you'd talked on the ride here - but mostly about him, because - as it had turned out - what Tyler Owens did wasn't a normal job like doctor or lawyer, but instead professional Tornado Wrangler. Which, of course, had then dominated the conversation for the rest of the drive.
"Yeah, like how you were driving to you parents and didn't know what to do in a tornado so you just kept on driving", Boone grins, scraping the rest of his pasta off his plate. "And how he made you go in that ditch and-"
"Alright, shut up, Boone", Tyler interrupts, even though there's no real malice behind his words. "She knows the story. She's in it."
"I'm just saying", Boone goes on, entirely undeterred as he puts his now empty plate down on the kitchen table. "If you'd filmed that, it would go viral for sure."
You have to snort at that.
"Yeah, because of all the indecent exposure."
...
When your mother rings the doorbell three hours later, you're in the middle of the second round of a boardgame Dexter had pulled from a drawer. You'd been paired with Tyler for the first round and - somehow not surprisingly - that had worked quite well. You'd won just so against Dexter and Dani (Lilly and Boone hadn't been too much competition) and Dani's "We never get to play this right 'cuz we're always five people" after Tyler had high-fived you with a victorious cheer had warmed your heart. At least they'd enjoyed themselves - at least you hadn't been a burden.
"I call dibs on her", Lilly had declared when the second round had begun, so Tyler had teamed up with Boone instead.
"Oh, oh, botany!", you call out, just as the doorbell finally rings. Lilly jumps up and high-fives you.
"How in the hell did you guess that?", Dani asks, sounding all but exasperated at this point as Tyler pushes out of his seat and walks towards the front door. You shrug.
"Pure talent", you joke, then you climb off the couch as well. "Alright, it was so nice meeting you all, but I think my taxi's out front."
They all hug you goodbye and tell you to come around again anytime - Boone even hands you one of those t-shirts Tyler had told you about in the car. You can hardly hold back a snort. Though Tyler had told you about the shirts existing, yes, he must have accidentally forgotten to mention that his goddamn face is printed on them, paired with the very... comedic phrase "Not My First Tornadeo".
You thread through the hallway with the shirt and your phone in your hands, only to be hit with the sight of Tyler hugging your mother on the doorstep. Or your mother hugging Tyler, more like. Either way, you're suddenly frozen in place.
But then your mother opens her eyes and sees you standing there and she lets go of Tyler with a sharp cry to come running at you instead. She throws her arms around you with so much vigor you're almost knocked off your feet. You meet Tyler's eyes over her shoulder - crinkled with lines of laughter as he smiles at you. Your eyes dart away again just as quickly.
"It's fine, mom, I'm okay", you reassure.
"Yeah, thanks to Tyler", she mutters into your hair. "I already told him we'll pay him whatever he wants for saving our daughter."
"And I already said I don't want any money", Tyler clarifies.
...
The next morning, you wake up comfortably late in a warm bed. You walk down the stairs in fuzzy socks and start the day with a simple cup of tea.
A simple cup of tea and Tyler Owens' YouTube channel.
You'd looked him and his Tornado Wranglers up the very second you'd sat down in your mother's car. Then you'd subscribed to every channel you could find. And then... you'd kind of got obsessed. You'd watched so many of their videos that by one am, you'd simply fallen asleep to one of them.
"Aunt May's gonna be here in half an hour", your mother informs you casually, a stack of plates in her hands as she rummages around in the kitchen. You're still sitting at the table in your pajamas, a spoonful of cereal in your mouth, your phone propped up against a water bottle in front of you, playing a Tornado Wranglers video from a year ago.
"Seriously?", you get out, chewing on your cereal before you can swallow it down. "Mom, I still have to shower and get ready and all."
She throws you one of those eyebrows-raised glances that immediately let you know she's judging you for something.
"We only let you sleep this long because you almost died yesterday", she says matter-of-factly, then she eyes your phone. "And if you weren't watching Tyler's videos so obsessively, you would be done by now."
"Really, mom?"
You let out a resigned sigh. She only shrugs and grins at you. She's a little bit right, anyway.
"He's good-looking, I get it", she says, then she strolls out of the kitchen, chuckling to herself while you curse at her. He is good-looking, fuck this. You need to get it together before the rest of your extended family arrives.
...
The doorbell rings for the umpteenth time that day, just as you step out of the bathroom and smooth down the front of the red-checkered shirt you're wearing. You call some version of "I got it", down the hallway, not too sure if anyone even hears - they're all in the backyard anyway. Then you open the door with a smile on your face, a smile that instantly pulls into a wide grin when you see just who's standing there.
Because it's not another aunt or uncle or cousin. It's no one in your family, not even close.
It's Tyler.
Tyler Owens.
"Hi", he says. Just that. Hi.
You lean against the open door and cross your arms. Your grin only grows.
"Hi", you echo.
His eyes rake down your body and it seems like whatever he'd wanted to say gets stuck in his throat as he realises that the shirt you're wearing isn't your shirt, really. You can't help but bite down on your lip.
Look, you hadn't expected this. You hadn't expected him. None of this was a scheme or a plan or anything even close. You'd just seen it lying there this morning, right next to Lilly's pants on your desk, and you hadn't been able to help yourself. It smelled so fucking good.
"Nice shirt", he grins, eyes snapping back up to yours.
"Thanks", you grin back. "I got it from this guy after he saved me from dying in a tornado yesterday."
Tyler chuckles.
"Seems like a great guy."
"So great", you agree. "Even though he prints his face on t-shirts."
Tyler is just about to retort something - all toothy grins and laughter lines - when your mother calls out his name, very obviously pleasantly surprised as she comes down the hallway. She smiles at him, big and wide.
"What are you doing here?", she asks, stopping next to you to ask the very question that had been on the tip of your tongue too when you'd opened up the door.
"Oh, I'm just bringing these back", he says and holds up his hand to show a stack of neatly folded clothes with your bra right on top. You have to bite down on your cheeks to stop from outright grinning.
Okay, so even if wearing his shirt hadn't been a scheme, and even if you hadn't expected to see him... You might just have done something to ensure you would see him again. But hey, he's about the most handsome man you've ever laid your eyes on, you'd be damned if you'd have to watch him on the screen of your phone for the rest of your life. So yeah, you may have accidentally 'forgotten' your wet clothes in his bathroom after you'd hung them over the heater to dry. You just hadn't thought he'd find them so quickly.
"And you drove four hours for that?", your mother asks, more baffled than you are. Tyler only shrugs. Your mother reaches out for your clothes, grabs them from him and puts them on the cupboard in the hallway. Then she looks at him.
"You're coming in, yes? We're having barbecue now and cake in a bit. I'm not letting you drive four hours here just to deliver her clothes."
...
Twenty minutes later is when you get Tyler alone for the first time. Your mother has schlepped him with you through the whole garden and introduced him to every single person there - "He's the guy who saved her yesterday!" (because, obviously, your story had been about the only topic anyone had talked about so far) - your father first and foremost, who hugs Tyler so tightly that for a moment you're afraid he'll break him.
You catch up with Tyler just as he finishes loading his plate with food, finally on his own after your mother has excused herself to go cut up more bread.
"How'd you find me?", you ask, sipping at your ice-cold coke and eyeing him up. It's the one question that had been burning in your mind for the past twenty minutes. How in the hell had he managed to find you? It's not like you'd left a note with your address next to your clothes (though in hindsight, you don't remember how you'd meant for him to bring them back to you).
He looks almost bashful for a second.
"Boone noticed you'd followed our account", he explains then. "He figured out your last name from your handle and searched the phone book of the city on your mom's license plate. And then he read out all the names until I recognised your mom's because she'd introduced herself to me yesterday."
Your eyebrows raise, further and further the more he speaks. You swallow. Silence falls for a second, then two.
"You know, some people would call that creepy", you say, but your lips tug up into an involuntary grin that gives away more quickly than you'd wanted that you aren't one of those people. Tyler grins right back at you.
"Personally I think it would've been more creepy if I'd kept your bra."
...
It's 9:20 when your mother comes over. You've long since switched from barbecue to cake, then to snacks. Your feet are tucked underneath Tyler's legs, propped up against the side of his garden chair and he's running his fingers up and down your calves.
You'd spent the afternoon chatting away and laughing, barely talking to anyone but him. Your 'family get-together' had turned into more of a date. You certainly aren't about to complain, though.
"Tyler, you're staying the night, right?", your mother asks, a fresh plate of chips in her hands that she puts next to the almost empty one on the table in front of you.
"I don't want to overstay my welcome", he says, all gentlemanly even as your mother rests her hands against her hips and stares him down.
"Young man, you're welcome in this house any time, for however long. I'm not letting you drive home four hours. You're staying the night." Then she points at you. "She's still got a couch in her room that you can sleep on. I'd offer you a guest room, but half the family's staying here and we're already out of air mattresses."
So an hour later, you're rummaging about your room, picking up clothes off the couch and stuffing them in your closet to make room for Tyler. He's leaning against your doorway, looking around, taking in the mess that is your childhood bedroom.
"Nice posters", he says, and you throw him a look over your shoulder that could be deadly. He's grinning all sarcastic, only chuckling as his eyes meet yours. "You could put up one of my shirts here."
You have to snort at that and before you can even really think about it, you've pulled the shirt Boone had given you yesterday from where you'd put it down on your desk. You throw it at him carelessly and he catches it with no effort at all, which - paired with that fucking grin - shouldn't be as attractive as it turns out to be.
"Knock yourself out", you say, then you turn back around to your closet and tug out bedsheets for him. "My old poster glue should be in one of the desk drawers."
You don't think he'll seriously do it, but you seem to have misjudged him. Badly. Because he gets to work immediately.
You watch him for a few stunned seconds before you decide to just leave him to it. So while you turn the couch into a makeshift bed for him, he glues that goddamn "Not My First Tornadeo" shirt to your wall.
"Fits perfectly if you ask me", he declares eventually, barely concealing the amusement dripping from his words. You smooth down his sheets before you look up at your wall. He's put the shirt up in one of the few empty spots, right between your Maroon 5 and Destiny's Child posters.
"Yeah", you snort. "Perfectly."
You give him a toothbrush and let him use your bathroom. While he's gone, you change into your pajamas, fold his shirt carefully and put it on a pile with Lilly's pants and her socks. Honestly, a little part of you already mourns the loss of it - but another part of you already has hope for another shirt. Maybe in a different context.
"What're you doing?", Tyler asks, shutting the bathroom door behind him. You don't look up as you fold the other clothes you'd thrown onto your desk yesterday.
"I put Lilly's things and your shirt there, you can take it back tomorrow", you explain, starting a second pile of your own clothes next to his.
"Keep my shirt", he says. That finally makes you look up at him.
Which isn't a good idea. Not at all. Because he's standing there in nothing but his briefs and good fucking lord-
You'd known he's handsome. You'd known he's broad. But you hadn't known he's fucking ripped. You shouldn't stare. You're very aware. You definitely shouldn't stare. It's incredibly rude to stare. It's very inappropriate to stare. But goddamn, this man is built so perfectly god himself must be jealous.
You have to forcibly blink yourself back to reality. You're definitely red in the face when you finally manage to meet his eyes again. And he's raised his eyebrows in a way that tells you he's reading your every emotion right off your face.
"Sorry, come again?", you croak out, brushing your hand through your hair and realising just a second too late that your eyes have travelled down too far again.
"I said you should keep my shirt", he repeats, a very, very obvious grin on his lips. "It looks better on you."
"Okay", you agree, a little too quickly. The heat in your cheeks comes from more than just the half-naked view of him now. He thinks his shirt looks better on you. You don't even care if that's a line. "I'll... I'll go brush my teeth real quick."
When you come out of the bathroom a few minutes later, Tyler has made himself comfortable on your couch. It's a little too small for him, you realise, but he doesn't seem bothered. He's pulled the covers up to his hips - you can still stare at his chest, to your delight. And he's put one hand under his head, flexing his bicep in a way that has you hurrying over to your own bed so you won't jump him right then and there.
"Alright, goodnight, Tyler", you breathe, adjusting your pillow and wrapping your blanket around your body as if grabbing at it will somehow ground you.
"Goodnight", he echoes, and then you turn off the light.
It's quiet. The only noise is the laughter of your family a floor below, all settling into bed themselves. It's quiet and it's dark.
And you're staring wide-eyed at absolutely nothing.
Oh, god. He's so fucking hot. He's so fucking hot you want to throw yourself out of the window. He's so fucking hot and he's on your fucking couch, barely ten feet from you. He's so fucking hot and he'd driven four hours here just to bring your clothes.
"Tyler", you say, barely two minutes after you'd turned the light off. He hums in response - still awake. You don't know what you'd expected. "Thanks again. For, you know, for everything."
"Anytime", he replies, and even though you can't see his grin, you imagine you can hear it. You nod into your pillow. Then silence falls again.
It lasts maybe another two minutes.
"Your family's nice", he says then. You can't help but smile.
"Thanks", you mutter.
"I like your mother", he says. Your smile only grows. You turn onto your back and stare at the dark ceiling.
"She likes you too."
It's the truth.
Tyler stays quiet. You don't even try to close your eyes this time - you can hear him breathe, deep and relaxed. It's calming. You're sure it could lull you to sleep. If you were anywhere near tired, that is. This way, you just blink at black nothingness.
"Were you really a Destiny's Child fan?", Tyler asks eventually, his sheets rustling.
"Yep", you say.
That's it for that conversation.
You don't know what it is, the darkness or the silence, but something pushes on your chest and weighs you down, warming your skin as it settles on your body. It's a tension, thick and heavy, one that had grown with every scrap of conversation.
"You know-", he starts again, but this time, you've got enough.
"Tyler", you interrupt, turning onto your side and pulling your covers with you. "Get up here."
You can't see him as he throws his bedsheets off himself, can't watch as he heaves himself up, can't look at him as he strides over to your bed - but you hear the rustling of his covers, you hear the couch creaking, you hear his steps on the floorboards. And you feel the mattress dipping when he finally sets his knees on your bed.
You don't wait until he's actually in there. You don't think you could possibly wait until he is. You just push yourself up, grab onto the first part of him you can get your hands on (his shoulders), cup his face in your palms and pull him into you.
Right into your kiss.
Tyler Owens kisses you for the first time in the darkness of your childhood bedroom. For the second time in the morning light in your bed. For the third time in your parent's kitchen, right as your mother walks in. For the fourth time in his truck, after your parents all but throw you out of their house and force you to go home with him. For the fifth time in front of his own house, where his crew watches through the window.
And after that, Tyler Owens loses count of just how often he kisses you. Because he kisses you every day for the rest of his life.

CRAZY, SEXY, HOT !
JJK MEN AND THEIR PUSSY EATING HABITS
! FT toji, sukuna, geto, gojo, choso
WARNINGS: this is all just freaky. dumbification, dry humping, fingering, overstimulation, yea you get the point here.
A/N: LMAOO freakbob milk server saw during gojos part he just started playing on his laptop mid-eating you out. anyways. im gonna make a pt2 for this. MDNI. 18+ pls leave requests or just spam my inbox i wanna talk to you guys!!
Toji
Heâs the nasty type with it. Like a freaky type. Tojiâs the kind to eat you out from the back, making sure your pretty lilâ ass is up in the air when he's got your face pressed down, tongue licking up long stripes against your folds, collecting your juices before spreading them all over your pussy.
Heâll bury himself between your thighs from behind, hands firmly planted on your ass to spread it open, getting the most out of your cunt. He makes sure itâs nice n out there, teasing you before heâs eating you out in no time. ANd when he eats, he eats.
FInger rubbing on your swollen, throbbing clit as he tongue fucks you, letting out groans from just how good your juices taste coating his tongue and lips like that.
He knows heâs overstimulating you, rubbing your clit through each orgasm that rips through you, but he just keeps going.Â
â Câmon, pretty girl, just one more fâr me. Doin so good for me, let me jâst finish my meal, baby.â Which promptly turns into him eating you out for nearly another hour. Tongue flat as he drags it up and down, paying extra attention to your clit; sucking it as his fingers replace where his tongue once was inside of you, tongue flicking the bed up and down, just until heâs got you moaning into another orgasm.
Toji who loves how your thighs start shaking with each orgasm, each teasing movement, each assault done on your poor pussy. Heâs practically dazed with how delicious your cunt is to him, talk about a free meal for him.
Sukuna
Lowkey mean with it. I mean itâs not that heâs too harsh, but he will literally overstimulate you to no end.
Heâs not focused on how much youâre cumming, but rather satisfying himself by enjoying how sweet you taste. Itâs like watching a starved man, he wont lwt up until he decides heâs satisfied, which could be hours of him between your thighs.
Sometimes he has you on the brink of passing out, sometimes heâll edge you until youâre nearly crying to cum.Â
He gets real handsy when eating you out too. Traveling up your thighs, holding your ass, fondling your breasts, heâs really just teasing you more and more, trying to get you to that breaking point where you start begging.
Maybe hes just a freak, sure. But he eats pussy for his own pleasure. Itâs something to keep him busy so heâs not sitting around doing nothing.
If eating you out until you can only think about his tongue against your clit is a past time, heâs more than willing to partake in it.Â
Maybe he just wants to see you wiggle around in ecstasy and bliss as he keeps abusing that one spot that has you nearly squirting all over.
Or maybe heâs just mean! :3
Geto
Getoâs a very attentive lover. He doesn't skip a beat when it comes to you. Itâs no difference with sex, he might just be even more attentive, putting your pleasure before his.
Especially with eating you out.
Heâll take his time, not too fast or too slow, getting you nice and worked up before he gets himself to the good part.
Heâll make sure youâre wiggling around as he kisses your thighs and rubs your sides, hands going down to cup your ass before pulling you to his face.Â
Heâs all up on your pussy in no time. Heâll have his tongue buried in you, eyes watching at every single reaction, hands holding your hips to keep him still and let him take his time.Â
Or when he moves his tongue out to flatten it against your pussy, moving up and down in long stripes.Â
Sometimes heâll eat you out with his tongue piercing, pressing the metal against your clit. Letting it sit there, the smooth, cold metal reacting with hot, swollen clit.Â
Heâll kiss your thighs, praising how beautiful you look as his fingers pump in and out of you, curling up at the right moment to prod against your g-spot, egging you on closer to the edge.Â
Heâs just so attentive to every reaction and what gets you worked up, using all those little mental notes for each time. Heâll have you moaning his name like a melody in almost no time.
Gojo
Gojo seems like the type of guy to eat you out in the way he knows best, edging you until you're withering and begging to cum.
He loves you, he really does, but he loves the face you make when his tongue is all up on your cunt, watching your eyelashes flutter, pretty nails grabbing at his hair to pull him closer.
Oh but the moment he thinks your about to cum? He pulls away, giving kisses and hickeys to your thighs. He teases the crap out of you for it too.
âSo sexy when youâre all pent up like that.â Heâll teased, before diving back to lapping up your juices, tongue parting your folds. Heâll keep his hands pussy, one circling your clit, the other kneading the fat of your ass.Â
He loves it especially when he presses his nose against your clit, watching you desperately rub against it for even the slightest friction. Just eating you out and listening to your pleas and moans could get him to pretty much burst in his own pants. His arms hook around your thighs, pressing you closer to him, eyes fluttering with the contact, how much deeper he can get his tongue, prodding it against that spongy spot to make sure you see stars.
And when he does let you cum, heâs fingering you right through it, huffing out air before inhaling, lips shiny with your juices. He really just canât help himself when it comes to your pussy, itâs like candy for him.Â
Choso
Choso does it desperately. I refuse to fight anyone on this. He may be inexperienced, but his enthusiasm makes up for it. Hes almost frantically lapping up at you. Hands feeling all up your thighs and body, eyes shut.Â
Choso who moans and whines into your cunt, just so desperate for more of its taste, slightly humping into the sheet for friction. Anytime youâd pull away, heâd look at you. Soaked chin, shiny lips, panting slightly, was the only sight you got before he pulled you back to him, wanting more of your taste.
Itâs like heâs trying to attach himself to your cunt, making out with it in such a sloppy manner, drool and juices dripping onto the sheets. Heâd lick you through the entire orgasm, letting out moans at how your walls tighten around his tongue, feeling your sweetness gush around.Â
Your pussy might just be his favorite treat. Stressful day? Licking your pussy. Bored? Probably licking your pussy. It quickly becomes one of his favorite things, loving each time you moan and praise him, feeling himself get harder than a rock.Â
The look of bliss on his face when heâs done making out with your cunt, oh itâs just so beautiful. Panting, lower face drenched, the way his eyes look down at how swollen your cunt is, how sloppy it is after he ripped nth orgasms out of you. He didnât mean to make that much of a mess, but he really canât help himself when itâs his new favorite thing.

how dare you think it's romantic, leaving me safe and stranded
A/N: if i stared at this any longer it would never see the light of day...so here she is! this is the longest fic i've ever written and i'm kinda gagged about that but i really hope you like it and if you don't that's okay too this is just silly angsty brainrot anyways thanks for reading this my inbox is open if you wanna yap more summary: in which your kidnapping forces you and spencer to face the fallout following your recently ended relationship cw: angst, hurt/comfort, reader is kidnapped/held hostage, implications and mentions of SA to reader but nothing happens, cm type violence, ex!spencer, lowkey lovers to enemies back to lovers, cat adams, medical jargon, miscommunication trope, the bau team is family, afab!reader, pet names wc: 5.1k
Every case you and Spencer have been on has been insufferable for the rest of the team since your falling out, if it had to be given a name. Everyone always had to deal with your constant bickering and harsh words. It was the same in every case, a difference of opinions that led to incessant fighting between you two, Hotch would have to separate you both and use your joint intelligence separately for the sake of keeping everyone alive.
This last case was nothing different, a serial killer in Athens, Georgia who was religiously sacrificing young women in the name of a cult. Both of you fighting over what you believed the other to be wrong about in their part for solving the case. Spencer thought the unsub would have struck in a zone closer to his home, you assumed he was only going after women who resembled someone in his life. The real problem was that you were both wrong.
And it ended with you being held hostage.
It all happened so fast. You were in the car with Spencer and Rossi driving out to the unsubâs house to check for new evidence when you had stopped at a gas station about 15 miles out from the house to refuel. Rossi got out of the car to pump the gas, Spencer sat in the passenger seat, and you went inside to use the bathroom and grab a quick snack.
You quickly washed your hands after finishing in the bathroom and wiped your hands on your pants, still slightly damp as you turn the handle of the door. As youâre perusing the aisle looking for a snack, you can feel the presence of watchful eyes on you. Casually, you slowly look up and around at the source and clock a figure an aisle over with a cap turned downward blocking their face.Â
Your gut was sending flares up, telling you that danger was near. You nonchalantly walk over to the aisle heâs in, pretending to look at the nuts and dried fruits while attempting to get a look at his face. In a (maybe not so) bright idea, you think to knock a bag of nuts on the floor next to the lurkerâs feet in the hopes heâll bend down to pick it up for you.
With a push of your hand, the bag knocks off the shelf and onto the floor and you both bend down to pick it up.
âIâm so sorry about that,â you chuckle lightly, âIâm such a clutz.â
âNo problem at all, Missâ.â He stops talking all of a sudden, youâre unsure why. You follow his gaze to your left hip where your FBI credentials are peaking out.
Shit.
He draws a weapon faster than youâre able to react with getting your own out, and by the time yours is out the barrel of his is flush with your forehead.
âDrop it.â
You quickly recognize the man as your unsub, miles away from his hunting ground and about to stray from his victimology with you.
âCome on, up. Weâre going for a little ride.â He snarls, glancing outside at the black SUV with your colleagues. He grabs you by a hairful and drags you out the back door, shooting the gas station clerk before making the escape with you to his pickup truck. Youâre shoved against the car door, back facing him, as he place a zip tie on your wrists and opens the door to sit you in the back seat. The unsub gets in the driverâs seat and starts the car, glaring at you through the rear view mirror, âIâm gonna have fun with you, fed.â
Meanwhile, back in the car Rossi stands at the pump waiting for the tank to fill and Spencer remains in the car looking over the case details once more. He canât help but feel something is wrong, but canât place his finger on it. He looks over the details again meticulously, searching for a fault anywhere in your, or even his own logic. Rossi closes the tank and hops back in the car, âSheâs not back yet?â he pondered.
Spencer hadnât even realized you werenât back yet, âI guess not,â something wasnât right, âShe went ten minutes ago right?â
Rossi nods, opening his mouth to speak when a gunshot coming from the gas station cuts him off. The men look at each other, eyes widened and rush out of the car, weapons drawn.
âFBI!â Rossi enters, looking for any sign of you but coming up empty. Spencer takes note of the disheveled store, produce and cans lying astray. He steps around the mess to find an out of place bag of sour gummy worms on the floor in the middle of an aisle only filled with nuts and dried fruit.Â
Sour gummy worms were your favorite.
A sinking feeling settles in Spencer as he tries to fight the reality his brain is trying to tell him. He looks to Rossi with a pained expression, and Rossi matches it back.
âHe took her.â
___
The next few hours are a blur for Spencer.
Rossi called the team to meet them at the gas station, already telling Garcia to hack into the security cameras to find any clue of where heâd taken you. Emily and Derek were checking out the crime scene, Hotch and Rossi talking to the sheriff. JJ finds Spencer staring off onto the one road connected to the station.
âWeâre gonna find her, Spence.â
He whips his head up at the sound of her voice, âI shouldâve realized sooner. I knew there was something off about his MO, aâand I just couldnât place it. And now sheâs gone and itâs all my fault and I neverââ
âSpencer,â JJ interrupts softly, âYou couldnât have known. None of us did, even her.â
âI should have,â he laments, âAnd if sheâŚif something happens to her because I wasnât paying attentionâŚâ He trails off, too afraid of what his brain thinks is the ending of the sentence.
JJ offers him a sympathetic look, understanding the conflicting emotions, âWeâll find her, sheâs strong. You know that.â
He stares back at her hoping, praying, that sheâs right and youâre going to be okay. You have to be.
Heâs pulled out of his head by Morgan calling him and JJ over, telling Garcia on the phone to repeat her findings.
âOkay, I think I have a lead based on the security camera footage on the car he has and where itâs been last seen. Iâm sending the last known coordinates to your phones now.âÂ
An idea springs to him, âGarcia, can you also check the gas station records and see how much he filled his tank?â
The clacking sounds of her keyboard ring through the phone before she speaks again, âHe didnât fill a full tank, only like, fifteen miles worth of gas.â
Everyone looks up at each other in realization of what the new information means. You had to be close by. Morgan walks over to tell Hotch, who immediately talks to a state ranger about setting up a 15 mile radius around the gas station with monitored roadblocks, no entry or exit without inspection.Â
After Hotch finishes he walks back to Spencer and lays a hand on his shoulder, âGood job, Reid,â He nods back with a thin lipped smile and fiddles with his pen anxiously, âAre you okay?â. Spencer canât tell if heâs genuinely asking him or if heâs asking him for the sake of him being able to do his job properly considering the circumstances. Ever the profiler that man is, he thinks. He nods again nonetheless and walks over to meet Derek at the car.
Spencer and Derek get into the car and set the route for the coordinates Garcia gave, ETA 14 minutes. He swallows nervously, do you even have 14 minutes? What if heâs too late? What if youâre not even there? What if he never got to tell youâ
âReid. Are you even listening?â
âWhat?â
Derek raises his eyebrows as he glances at his friend, âGot something on your mind?â
âNothing.â
âYouâre a shit liar, man.â
âIâm not lying.â Even he doesnât believe himself.
âSpencerââ
âIâm just worried! Okay? Weâre all worried, itâs not a big deal.â he snaps.
Derek stops at a red light and looks over the console, âIâm going to ignore whatever that was,â guilt sweeps over Spencerâs face as he continues, âIâm not stupid kid, I know how youâre feeling. But you canât let whatever turmoil you got in that big brain of yours affect this case. Not now.â
âI know that, Morgââ
âNo, you donât. I know youâre thinking about her, we all are. And we all wantâneedâher to be okay too. We will find her, but we canât let the unsub get away too.â
Spencer sighs outwardly seeing the truth in his words. As concerned as he was about you he needed to remember this was still an active case. He couldn't let your past with each other cloud his judgement, even if the fallout still haunts him every day of his life. He needs to save you, but he also has a job to do. He just wasnât sure if heâd remember that when they finally found you.
ââ
A pounding in your head stirs you awake, the bitter taste of metal flooding your senses as you come to. You blink a few times adjusting to the lowlights of the unfamiliar environment, hoping to find something distinguishable to ground you back to reality. It doesnât help once you realize the blood crusted over your eye is the reason for your obscured vision. You attempt to rub it off on your shoulder ignoring the sharp pains shooting up from the abrasive contact.Â
Once you think youâve cleared enough you blink a few more times registering your surroundings to be a house, a cabin more accurately. Your memory is a little fuzzy as you try to recount what happened before you were knocked out cold.
Gas station. Unsub. Unsub at the gas station? But where was IâŚI went to the bathroom⌠and was gettingâŚgummy worms?⌠But Rossi and Spencer were just outside⌠now Iâm hereâŚso does that means the unsubâ
âOh good, youâre awake.â
You jolt at the voiceâthe unsub youâve come to rememberâand you realize your hands are tied up behind your back, quickly coming to the second realization that you are rendered both injured and immobile.
âWhat do you want, Jason?â you say hoarsely after a minute.
He chuckles, âI didnât know they made them so pretty at the academyâŚâ he walks over and kneels in front of you, gripping your chin between his forefinger and thumb to move your head, âThey probably kept you around forâŚentertainment right?â
You whip your head, âDonât fucking touch me.â
âOh, youâre feisty. Thatâs good, keep it up. Makes this more fun.â he walks back over to the table and fiddles with something, you canât really tell from the floor, âSo howâd they make it work back inâwhat is it calledâQuantico! They take turns with you or? Thereâs so many of yâall, probably had a system.â
The pounding in your head makes it more difficult to process anything heâs saying, âThe hell are you talking about, take turns with what?â you ask, wincing through another wave of pain.
He turns around holding a metal rod and walks over, angling the rod under your chin to tilt your face up to meet his as he snarls, âI canât wait to see how it feels to fuck a federal whore.â
All the color drains from your face and you kick into whatever gas is left in your autopilot. Your feet are flailing in every direction, body thrashing violently to prevent Jason from getting a good grip on you. You quickly learn the purpose of the metal rod hearing the clang! first, a millisecond passing before the pain and threat of unconsciousness spreads through your brain.Â
The hit takes you out long enough for him to pin you down on the floor, the weight of his body landing on you before the metal rod goes for your limbs. Itâs then you realize the throes of death have wrangled you for what appears to be the last time, and itâs probably wise to start sayingâthinkingâ your final words.
To my parents, I love you. To Derek and Penelope, thank you for letting me third wheel with you. Emily, Iâll miss our weekend Sin City excursions. JJ, please give your boys the biggest hug from their favorite aunt. Rossi and Hotch, you always cared for me like I was your ownâI am so grateful for you.
And SpencerâŚOh, Spencer. How I hoped I would have the time to say Iâm sorry for what happened, I hope youâll forgive me in due time. I wish I told you that nothing about us ever changed for me. You were and will always be, My Spencer, I just wish I could tell you one more time how much I lovââ
âFBI, Drop your weapon!â
A clattering sound of something dropping rings directly next to your ear and the weight that was on you alleviates at the same time. You groan out and instinctively curl up on yourself, the pain spreading throughout your body. The sensory overload is so much you donât hear the approaching figure crouching next to you.
âHey Hey Hey,â Spencer stutters, quickly making work of the ties on your hands and holding you gently as he lays your head on his lap cradling you close, trying to hide the forming tears when he hears your whimpers of pain, âYouâre okay, itâs okay. The medicâs coming.â He looks back to where the unsub was and watches Derek put him in cuffs, nodding at Spencer before walking out with Jason.
ââŚSpencer?â you whisper out weakly. You think youâre dreaming honestly, that in the wake of death you learn heaven isnât a place but only his arms.
âYeah, honey, itâs me.â he chokes out looking back down at your bruised face. Heâs unsure how you still look angelic even when youâre hurt, but it doesnât surprise him that you do. You were always good at defying the laws of nature, he prayed it extended to your immortality.
âIt hurts.â you pout pathetically.
He brushes a strand of hair out of your eyes gently, âI know it does, honey I know. Iâm sorry, Iâm so sorry this happened. I shouldâve been there. Iâm sorry, baby.â he whispers tearfully.
You cough out and whimper in pain, âIâm sorry too.â
Spencer shakes his head vehemently, âNo, donât apologize. Donât do that, just keep your eyes open for me, okay? Iâm right here, I wonât leave you.â
The tiredness soon wins and your eyes flutter close. Before Spencer can even panic and beg you to open them again the medic finally comes and asks himâpulls himâ to move so they can start working on you.
He reluctantly backs up and watches on with glossed over eyes, barely registering all the things they were sticking in you to wake you up. The medics stabilize your neck with a C-SPINE and lift you onto the gurney, wheeling you back to the ambulance. The same medic who asked Spencer to move comes up to him again, âWeâre taking her to Georgetown Medical, youâre allowed to ride in the back with us if you want.â
You slowly come to again on the gurney and Spencer meets your open eyes before you even realize theyâre on you. Without hesitation he says, âYeah, Iâm coming.â
The medic team lifts your gurney inside the rig, and right before Spencer gets in he feels a hand on his shoulder. He turns around to find Hotch, âYouâll be okay?âÂ
Itâs a loaded question. Heâs not asking if Spencer is okay at this moment, because it doesnât take a profiler to see that heâs the farthest from it. He says it as a grounding reminder knowing how Spencer gets about you. It didnât matter to the team if you both fell out, the pair of you never faltered in your subconscious for each other. Both of your actions always moved faster than your brains, especially when it involved the other.Â
Thatâs what worried his Unit Chief.
He nods and Hotch gives his shoulder a light squeeze, âKeep us updated,â the concern clearly etched in his eyes breaking through his usual stoicism as he looks inside the rig, âWeâll meet you there as soon as we can.â
Under the bright lights of the ambulance heâsâunfortunatelyâable to really take inventory of the injuries you sustained. The blue and black bruising scattered your limbs, the congregation of it on your stomach telling him you have at least two broken ribs. His eyes trail further down your body before abruptly stopping, but not on an appendage.
Spencerâs face pales even further than it already has staring at the glint on the undone button of your trousers shining in the reflection of the light.
If they didnât get there when they didâŚIf he got to you a second laterâŚHe canât even fathom to think about what wouldâve happened.
Heâs broken out of his spiral by the EMT sitting next to him offering a tissue, which is when Spencer feels the tear and snot streaks rolling down his face. He takes it and wipes his face mindlessly before muttering, âCan I justâŚâ hands reaching out to you before his words come out. Spencer doesnât notice the EMT tearing up as he gently buttons your pants.
ââ
You were a fighter.
At least, thatâs what the doctors told Spencer when they came and updated him in the waiting room. He blanks out for most of the conversation, eyes unfocusing and ears on low lest your name be spoken.
âSheâs stable and awake now, the nurse can take you back to see her.â
He shakes his head to recenter and mutters a thank you before following the nurse through the double white doors. His senses are heightened as he walks closer to your room. The scuff of his shoes on the linoleum floors, the pedantic beeping of machines in the rooms he passes, until he hears the only voice thatâs ever been enough to calm the warzone in his mind.
âHi, Spence.â
His feet move on their own accord right next to your bedside, hands hovering awkwardly at his side. Heâs silent for the first couple minutes, just a faint sniffle here and there before he takes a seat near your bed and hears you speak again.
âYou can touch me, Spence. I wonât break more than I already am.â
âDonât say that,â he chides quickly, âItâs not a joke.â
âWell, someone should be the comedic relief here.â
He lays the tips of his fingers right on top of the tips of yours, âYou could have died.â
Your face softens, âI didnât though.â
âYou could have.â
âSpencerââ
âStop down playing it. You donât know what it was like finding you like that.â
âI mean I have some idea, âcause like, I was there.âÂ
Spencer deadpans at your poor attempt at lightening the mood, a faint smile peaking through while he shakes his head, âInsufferable even at your deathbed.â
âYeah, the Grim Reaper heard me yapping and said âkeep herâ.â
He chuckles softly as his hand moves further up to rest the front of his palm on the back of your hand, âHow are you feeling?â
âIâveâŚbeen better. The doctor said one of my broken ribs punctured an artery, a big one apparently,â you flip your hand over so both of your palms are touching but not laced, you softly continue, âTold me I was lucky I came in when I did. Any later the internal bleeding wouldâve spread to my lungs.â
Spencer feels the tears springing again and a lump forming in his throat, âIâm so sorry, sweet girl,â the pet name slipping out before he could realize, âI shouldâve gotten there sooner, or realized something was wrong at the gas station.â
âHey. Donât do that. You saved my life.â your fingers intertwine with his and squeeze with whatever strength you can muster, which isnât a lot and it makes his heart clench tighter. âIâm here.â
He lets out the breath heâs been holding since he walked in, âYouâre here.â
âI didnât forget what you promised me when weâŚbroke up,â God you wish it didnât sound so terminable as it did, âI knew youâd find me. You always do.â
Another sniffle leaves him as he rubs his thumb soothingly on your hand, âI always doâŚLook, thereâs something I need to tell youââ
He doesnât get to finish his sentence as Penelope & Company burst into your room bearing balloons, chocolates, and many, many stuffies.
âHowâs our girl doing?â Penelope huffs, hauling an entire Hallmark catalog worth of gifts in tow.
âSheâs doing fine, Penny.â you chuckle lightly, trying your best to hide the wince of pain from your side, âYou did not need to do all this.â
âNonsense, everyone knows bear stuffies are the real medicine of the world.â she gleefully ignores the nurse onlookers, âI also brought you this, of special request by someone who shall not be named.â From her back she produces a bag of your favorite candyâsour gummy worms. A fact that you knew only one person was privy to.
You act surprised nonetheless, âMy favorite! Thank you, Penny. And all of you, for coming to see my crippled self.â
Spencer watches the team take turns doting on you. Emily, JJ, and Penelope sit with you for about four Gilmore Girls episodesâanother lost relic of modern medicine, according to Pennyâafter which Morgan, Rossi, and Hotch keep you company for a little bit before bidding you good night with forehead kisses and well wishes. Spencer stays with you the whole time, never once leaving your side.Â
You are so loved, he thinks. He didnât realize how much he liked watching you be loved. It makes him miss the times when he could do that for you too.
ââ
Weeks pass since the day of your kidnapping. You still find it weird to call it that, even though itâs literally what happened. Youâve been on house arrestâbed restâbegrudgingly, and while Penelopeâs very glittery visiting schedule has kept you entertained, itâs been hard when the only person you really wanted to see has refused to come visit since you left the hospital.
Youâve asked Penelope why Spencer hasnât come, and all she can offer you is a sad smile and a âHe said something come up sweetie, sorry.â. Texting him seemed even more daunting, more because you werenât about to beg for his attention if he obviously doesnât want you to have it.Â
The doorbell steals your attention and you glance over at the schedule before you walk over to open it, not expecting a visitor at this time.
Spencer looks up from his shoes hearing the door open, âHey.â
A minute passes, âWhy are you here?â you ask bluntly.
He looks confused, âI came to check on you, brought you takeout from the Indian place you like.â The food in his hand smells heavenly but you canât seem to enjoy it yet without getting an answer.
âWhy are you here, now?â you ask again with an addendum.
He either really wants to piss you off or his ear blew out on the way over but he chooses to ignore you and enter your apartment, âYou having nightmares again?â
âWhat? NoâŚâ you lie poorly, straightening up your back, âJust tired.â
He chuckles, âGood to know youâre still a terrible liar. Did you know you wear Doctor Who shirts when youâre feeling anxious?â
Your brows fuddle in confusion but he elaborates, âItâs probably subconscious, something you find comforting and naturally gravitate to in times of distress. Itâs a normal stress response butâŚyouâre wearing an Eleventh Doctor shirt.â My Eleventh Doctor shirt, he thinks.
âThat doesnât mean anything.â you feign.
âMaybe it doesnât,â he nods, âBut you are anxious arenât you?â
âSpencer, what the fuck is going on, why are you here, really?â your eyes narrow, arms crossing defensively.
âI told you, I came to check on you.â
âYou just woke up this morning and decided it was convenient for you to see me today?â Spencer opens his mouth to speak but nothing comes out. You stare at him with tearful eyes and the emotion spills out of you before you can stop it. You speak again after a few moments, voice barely above a whisper, âYou left me. Again.â
He tilts his head, âNo, I didnât.â
âYes, you did.â you grit out, âYou were rooted at my bedside the entire time I was hospitalized, and the second I was discharged you were nowhere to be found. I thought, maybe with Pennyâs schedule youâd come by, but then I came to find out that you didnât even put your name down.â
âYou almost died!â he retorts, âYou almost died, because I made a mistake and you got hurt because of it!â
âSo, that gives you the right to abandon me for the second time?â
âI didnâtâŚâ he sighs out roughly, âI didnât abandon you. I just, couldnâtâŚface you.â Face you, in pain, as a result of his actions.
âIs that what happened the first time you left?â you bite back.
His eyes steel over, âThat was different.â
âI donât see how.â
âYou know why I left.â
âI donât think I do, Spencerââ
âI left because I was putting you in danger!â he yells cutting you off, âI left because loving you meant dragging you into all the messed up stuff that happens to me, stuff thatâll keep happening to me.â
Tobias. Mexico. Cat.
A single tear rolls down your face, âThatâs bullshit, Iâm sorry. We work the same damn job, the risks are the same if weâre together or not.â
âYou donât understandââ
âThen fucking enlighten me, Spencer.â
He stares at you, fighting an internal battle of whether he was really willing to admit his truth to you, one that he knows you deserved to know but wasnât sure if it would put you more in harm's way.
âCat had details about your family.â
Thatâs not what you were expecting to hear. Your face drops, âWhâWhat?â
His eyes dart around the room nervously, âAfter I got out of Millburn and we went to see Cat, she was trying all these tactics to get me to break. I was doing fine, until she started talking about you. She was saying things that only you told me, stuff thatâs not even on record.â
You remember that day. You were supposed to go with him and JJ to the correctional facility but ended up stuck at the BAU because your skill set was more valuable in helping Penelope locate Mr. Scratch. You remember how he came back to you that day, distant and glassed over. It was easy to chalk up his behavior following it to his recent release, but when you woke up a few weeks later to an empty bed and a throwaway note saying âIâm sorry.â, you couldnât figure out for the life of you why all of a sudden you didnât exist to him, like you didnât matter.
âI made a choice, one that I knew would protect you.â
âThatâs not a decision for you to make.â you snap.
âI had to,â he says lowly, taking a step closer to you, âIf being with me puts your safety at riskâŚâ another step, âIâd rather live in a world where you hate me and are still hereâŚâ one more step, âThan one where you loved me and died because of it.â he manages to choke out, taking one final step towards you.
Itâs quiet for a couple minutes, save for the soft whistle of the breeze coming from your open window. The resolve in you has long faded, leaving behind nothing but the skin on your bones to weather the damage. It makes sense to you why he did what he did, and you donât know if the roles were reversed would you do the same thing. But you knew that you loved him and he loved you, and that alone should have been enough.
You canât help but let out a whine, sounding like a petulant child, âThatâs not fair, Spence.â
âWhatâs not fair, baby?â he softly whispers.
Your whine turns into a cry, âThat, all of this. The fall on your sword act in which you decide whatâs best for me is to leave me stranded, thinking I did something wrong that made you stop loving me.â
He steps forward a little more, his face mere inches from your own, âYou think I stopped loving you?â
âWas I supposed to think otherwise? You couldnât even stand being in the same room as me.â
His hands raise to gently cup your face, thumbs positioned under your eyes to wipe the fallen tears. Heâs missed looking into your eyes as close as he is. For a man who doesnât believe in religion heâs pretty certain the gates of heaven lie within your irises.
âI was selfish,â he swallows, âI wanted to keep you safe but I did so in a way that I felt was most logical, which turned out to be so fucking wrong regardless since you still got hurt.â
He brings your face impossibly closer, the warmth of his breath gently hitting your face.
âThere isnât a waking moment where I donât love you. Even when we werenât together, I still looked out for you and I made sure you were safe in ways I couldnât tell you. I meant what I said. I told you Iâd find you in every lifetime. I love you, in every lifetime, angel girl.â
The ache in your heart only grows with his words, reminding you that he always was and will forever be, Your Spencer.
âYou canât do that again,â you stutter out through tiny sobs, âYou need to tell me whatâs going on, whatever it is. We figure it out together.â
He nods softly, the hair on his forehead faintly brushing up on yours, âWe figure it out together. Iâm so sorry for everything, baby.â his lips press a long kiss to your forehead, âIâm here now, Iâm not going anywhere.â
You rise on your toes to meet your lips with his, the missed time and unspoken words flowing silently between you both. His hands wrap gently around your waist and pull you flush to his chest, with yours entangling with the brown curls you had missed so much.
Finally back in his arms, you sigh with exhaustion and relief, âYouâre here.â
âIâm here, honey.â
