Okay I know I only ever come on here to talk about my random resurgent love of specific musicals but just. Come From Away is so fucking good yall.

The parts that always get me are the songs using multiple languages, specifically "Darkness and Trees (reprise)" and "Prayer" which both have that underlying theme of religion being international.

Now I am not a religious man, I have my own beliefs but they are easily swayed one way or another. However, the way the musical emphasizes and highlights that despite language barriers, a common viewpoint can bridge that gap easily. It doesn't just go for religion either, but that kindness. It took one act of kindness after another to show that words cannot beat actions, and your actions have impact.

Hey so actually I accidentally deleted my blog so i created it again. I am still Lena! and I am still into MT and a bunch of other stuff. I a still unable to be casual about anything i like which is why i have tumblr. Some of my favorite musicals are The Outsiders, Newsies, Heathers Hamilton, Spring Awakening, Legally Blonde, Mean girls, Come from away, In the Heights, Illinoise, and a lot more. my Only Good Thought of the day:

Come From Away but staged in the round/immersive. 

I think it would be a fun concept to introduce the audience into the show, it has the focus on bringing people together and community. Because while they are telling a story about the aftermath of one event, the show invites the audience to feel the grief and weight of 9/11 with the characters as they do, and then learn and grow with the community of Gander.

I don't know what I was expecting going into come from away while it was on tour but I'm now taking my mum to see it in Bristol in a week or two. It's up in my top five musicals now.

(or at least it’s supposed to be… it would seem I cannot draw a moose - but I have it on good authority that it no longer looks like an angry dog with antlers anymore - which it did for a good while - so that’s something…)

Anyway, I had to do some doodling inspired by Come From Away after seeing the touring production back in May - it was phenomenal - definitely emotional but so lighthearted and fun as well. A brilliant show full of incredible performances - I loved it so much! 🌎
