Runs in-canon with The Ma.gnus Protocol series. Working at the OIAR and now very much aware of the reality of her situation regarding the supernatural, Gwen stubbornly fights through her own distress and fear to find out what exactly is going on. It’s just a shame every creature she meets seems to be intent, in some way, on marking her.

Takes place in the universe of The Ma.gnus Archives. While not working in the Archives itself, Gwen is part of the Institute, working in the OIAR (a branch within) and trying to figure out just what happened to her as a child. Marked by The Lonely and The Corruption, Gwen travels all across the world, trying to track down accounts of people with similar experiences to her, in the hopes of finally getting answers to her past and present.

Depends on who I’m writing with – Gwen is simultaneously the victim, the villain, the final girl, and the first to die. Her strange childhood experiences lead her to seek out the paranormal and dangerous… When she’s not working overtime at her shitty office job, that is.

It's early on in her childhood that Gwen has a run in with the Fazbear franchise. Indeed, she blames the whole place for her younger brother Elias going missing: not that she's ever told anyone that. Convinced something strange is going on inside, she moves to America from England when she's old enough, and gets a job working for the franchise not long after. Secretly trying to figure out what happened to her brother, Gwen also becomes determined to rise in the ranks - and eager to understand just what exactly is so strange about the Fazbear world. Can take place in any of the F.NAF games!

Gwendolyn Bouchard is the Head of the Magnus Institute, who, in this verse, is completely unaffected by Jonah Ma.gnus. Determined to keep herself and those she likes at the head of the oncoming apocalypse, she acts very much the same as Elias in the original series; with a few major twists and a terror she refuses to let on to anyone.

She's smart and observant but she's not loud about it, is probably the thing? And that she's very pretty. The self-possession at least when it comes to her job. The still waters run deep of it? Hey we know a guy like that. He can talk to her and know she's really listening. And maybe in a certain sense sees past some of the bravado?

Also: her integrity. She wants to cover the war and she got herself over here as soon as she could. She does what she says she's going to do. She doesn't go to pieces when things are tough. She's honest, and always sincere, but not an open book. Makes him want to know more.

Collegeverse... definitely involves karaoke.

Notes: If you are wondering what the devil Nightmare Dork University is, and what it has to do with either the movie RISE OF THE GUARDIANS or the GUARDIANS books by William Joyce, please visit the NDU 101 page on Tumblr and its accompanying tags. It's a wild and woolly ride involving four different versions of Pitch Black and a very different version of Jack Frost, all of whom either room together or "fraternize" in a college / university AU. And let's not forget a taxidermied ferret named Mr. Pickles.

A clinical observer would note that Piki Black succumbed to sleep in sections.

He did not snore, precisely, but his breathing had a sharp difference between inhale and exhale, a staccato rhythm on the upbeat of air leaving his nostrils which would then fold in upon itself as he more softly took air in.

He would most often lie on his left side while sleeping alone, his left hand tucked under one of his two pillows, his right arm wrapped around himself, his right hand grasping his left shoulder.  Occasionally the right hand could be seen to twitch, opening and closing spasmodically.

Once Piki’s breathing settled into a more even pattern and his arms relaxed, there would usually be some erratic scissoring of his legs, with the occasional backwards rabbit-kick, before he gave in to letting sleep take him entirely.

Jack Sickle liked to sleep on his right side.  Piki had noticed that, the very first time the younger man had stayed over at the apartment of iniquity his brother shared with the brute and the horror.

His Jack, his dear, dear Jack, was worth any sacrifice.

So for years, both before and after Jack moved in with him, Piki ignored the constantly pinched nerve in his arm and the eternally pulled muscles in his neck that were a result of him sleeping curled around Jack, while both slept on their right sides.

His leg movements diminished until they barely happened at all, since Piki seldom now descended into utter relaxation.  How could he, when he had all of earth and heaven too in his embrace each night?

The dark shadows under Piki’s eyes deepened more and more during each year that he and Jack lived together, but he brushed aside Pitch’s concerns about sleep deprivation.

Pitch stayed in Piki’s room on an airbed for a full two weeks following Piki’s breakdown, after Jack left.

Never the deepest sleeper himself, for the first ten nights he watched his tormented brother insist on sleeping on “Jack’s side” of the bed.. on what was, in his opinion, the wrong side.  Pitch observed Piki repeatedly try to mould his body to fill an imaginary hollow, contorted into a space that covered barely a tenth of the surface of the mattress, right on the edge and perilously close to falling on the floor.

On the eleventh night, Pitch awoke to hear Piki shifting restlessly.  Keeping his own counsel, he pretended to be asleep himself until the rustling ceased, and then ventured a look over to the bed.

Piki was lying flat on his back, in the center of the mattress.  Tears were leaking from beneath his closed eyelids, as they generally did every night, but tonight Piki’s breathing was deep and even; he was finally, finally sound asleep, and looked more peaceful than he’d been in ages.

Pitch felt his own eyes fill, briefly.

A night-table for each of them, rather than both of them sharing Piki’s.

A new double reading-lamp light fixture for over the bed, with switches on each side within easy, independent reach.

Reading aloud to one another became their nightly ritual.

Some nights they slept back to back, Piki on his left side, Jack on his right.

Sometimes Jack curled around Piki, or let Piki pillow his head on his chest.  

Jack never minded the occasional kick in the shins, since he knew that it meant that Piki was actually on his way to a good night’s sleep.

4. East, Sleeping at Last

Fun fact, my entire top five this year is songs I listened to repeatedly while writing some truths get tired the longer we wait. (The Blades time loop fic.) This is probably the one with the loosest connection to the song, but it really spoke to Eleanor's mindset for me, so it ended up one of the bigger replays. And generally, I really like the four-song album this is off of; it's not my favorite SAL collection (Enneagram probably wins that one, though there's some close seconds) but it's a very good one all the way through.

28. Smells Like Teen Spirit, 2CELLOS

So, so much of most of my writing playlists, especially for OxBlades and original stuff, is orchestral covers of popular music, and that's where this comes from. I think specifically it's on the Collegeverse/Professor Death playlist, which is an original story I've been trying to tear down and rework over the last couple years, but it shows up on several others just because it's Good Noise.

45. The Ocean, Dar Williams

I became obsessed with this song when I put it on my Mermay fic playlist in 2021. I've loved Dar Williams' work to some extent pretty much all my life -- I genuinely cannot remember a time before The Christians and the Pagans was a holiday staple song for me -- but I got much more into it over the last few years, and this might be my favorite song of hers.

It's really hard to single out favorite lyrics because it's pretty much. ever line, but also, it's the whole story of the song and how it's told, but I do have to say I'm particularly fond of "and that's when I came back to town, this town is a song about you", "'What are you trying to find? I don't care, I'm not kind, I have bludgeoned your sailors, I've spat out their keepsakes'", and "I didn't go back today, I wanted to show you that I was more land than water"

More from the some truths playlist, this time the title song! It probably shows up on more playlists than East due to being more general, but I'm more likely to listen to East on its own because of how much I love the language in it. Still a very good song.

This does show up on some of my writing/character playlists -- I think it's on the Collegeverse playlist, and it might be on my Diego Hargreeves one because there's a fair bit of high-energy stuff on there? But mostly fun is chores/move music for me, and I really like the energy of this song.

the real explanation for my shenanigans references an April fools fic I wrote and story stuff necrx and I talk about in private involving ryley having access to multidimensional travel at his disposal. you can thank the scp foundation for that. every au I have are all interconnected in several ways and the different versions of chaos crew have met each other.

I'm specifically playing heroverse ryley from ydhtbah (because haha fictive) so he's probably played the actual game [prototype] that exists in collegeverse. the ryleys like to cause paradoxes and generally cause trouble for each other. this stresses the doctor out in the dimensions where they exist.
