hc that jason has a shit ton of perfume collections, they're all very expensive too- (most of them are gifts from absolutely random people in new rome, that he reluctantly took, but he buys some too)
he probably had this collection habit wayy back at camp jupiter. new rome definitely has cool perfume shops you can't tell me otherwise. its supposed to be a replica of rome, and rome has pretty fragrance stores. the scent of perfume just soothes him, it's his version of a caffeine addiction lol. he just sniffs one out of his 1000 perfume bottles, when he feels overstimulated and bam. he feels better.
also mini hc that jason is an impulse spender sometimes. it doesn't happen very often because he's VERY used to restricting himself from buying stuff, considering how he thinks he's isn't worthy to have those things or something, but he likes buying artistic stuff. he LOVES thrift stores omg. he's the type to cry when he sees baby onesies or blankies in a thrift store bc of the potential tragedy behind it :((
I like this hc mostly because people think he's levelheaded and reasonable ALL the time but this adds a twist to his personality yk? he doesn't have to be perfect, he has that ‘mom’ shopping desire where he splurges on potted plants, ancient books, vintage collections (music boxes, cute mini souvenirs, you name it) and like historical paintings and spend lots of time organizing.

Emmet is willing to do anything to find his brother, and some things start to seem a bit more flexible than they seemed to be before… who cares if a few plates go missing?

Waterpark au Sun and Moon now in color!!!
Tumblr media
I still need to finish their ref sheets for art-fight but I’m so so happy to finally have them colored!
Moon’s platings are colored and textured to mimic wood grains, over that he is “painted” with varying tones of blues and teals.
Sun’s platings resemble painted Aztec stone with vibrant cool and warm colors, some of the “stone” remains bare.
Up close, guests can see that both animatronics designs have intentional weathering to really sell their imagined materials.

I actually think we were WAY too nice to the Witness in Excision. As someone who has lost so much to the effects of its ideology, I think we should of fed it Popeyes‘ biscuits with peanut butter and heated Hawaiian Punch through a small coffee stirrer for all of eternity.

Decorative Sunday
Kyle Meyer (b. 1985), a New York-based photographer and fiber artist with an MFA from the Parsons School of Design, has worked with the marginalized gay community in Eswatini since 2009, where homosexuality is illegal. The photographic essay Interwoven is his debut monograph exploring the challenges faced by gay men in this hyper-masculine culture. Edited by Santa Fe art historian Chelsea Weathers with an interview of Meyer by art history professor Andy Campbell, Interwoven was published in Santa Fe by Radius Books and New York by Yossi Milo in 2020.
These portraits fuse digital and Polaroid photography with traditional Swazi fibers, giving voice to silenced members of the LGBTQ community. Tension between the necessity of the individuals to hide their queerness and their desire to express themselves openly inform both the subject and the means of fabricating the work. Each piece from the Interwoven series is labor-intensive, taking days or sometimes weeks to complete. Meyer often photographs his subjects wearing a traditional headwrap made from a vibrantly colored textile typically associated with women. He then produces a print of the portrait and shreds it, together with the fabric from the headwrap, weaving the strips into patterned three-dimensional works. The final portrait presents each person's individuality while using the fabric as a screen to protect their identity. Meyer writes:
It would be taboo for men to wear these head-wraps in public, as that would indicate homosexual tendencies. . . . Each man’s gaze is directly on the viewer as if demanding attention to their true identity while still being hidden behind the fabric, which is a metaphor for their culture suppression. This masked, submissive state is typical in their everyday lives. Through this series, I aim to channel a voice for these silenced men and embracing an otherwise frowned-upon identity with a sense of pride without neglecting the reality of their every-day existence.

I present to you the work of another painter of fish plates. Y’know how you use ‘scare quotes’ for various purposes, including indicating that you’re not actually sure about The Thing?
Well, this guy was so bad at whatever he was painting that we call him…
The ‘tadpole’ painter:

Here’s another example:
Tumblr media
This one was sold as part of the Graham Geddes collection at Bonham’s auction house in 2008 for £2,040.
They describe it as ‘three fish including a wrasse with dorsal spines, an angler-fish, the rounded body with multiple black dots, two large round eyes with pupils, an open mouth with teeth bared, and a ray with pointed face, the body with multiple black dots’.
Which like… bold fucking move missing out the fact that they have legs. Though I can’t say I envy whoever had to write the description.
