(Happy Dragons Rising season 2 part 2 release day! For those asking "how did you get this written SO fast", I watched the leaks when they came out but waited to post this UNTIL it was out officially. Friendly reminder to support the official release if you can! And now, on with the story!)

Cole knew that it was because focusing on how ruthless and bold Zeatrix had been with her blow or the shallow breathing coming from the still bleeding chest of his teammate would result in tears that he didn't want anyone to see.

When the security bots lifted the stretcher and he heard a sharp inhale coming from Lloyd, he couldn't stop himself from reaching over and pulling one of the shards out of his loose, green headband, holding it tightly in his palm.

He couldn't bring himself to move until a familiar titanium hand rested on his shoulder, forcing him to look up into bright, artificial blue eyes that were full of the same worry he could feel wrapping around his chest.

"We should return to our quarters," Zane's suggestion was gentle as he prodded Cole's shoulder gently to move him away from the bloodied ground under their feet, "I am confident that the medical bots will alert us when they have an update on Lloyd's condition."

He wordlessly led the way to their sleeping quarters, unable to stop himself from walking over to the shrine Nya had made before she had left and looking up at the pictures of Kai and Jay as he knelt down, setting the shard on the table.

He knew that if Kai had been here, he would be the nervous wreck; he would be the one nearly ripping his hair out with worry, even if it was after he had gone to Zeatrix and delivered her a piece of his mind; with all of the trouble that they had gone to in order to stop Wyldfyre from fighting Cinder, Kai would have been unstoppable against Zeatrix.

But if Jay had been there, he would have lightened the air of dread with some sort of really bad joke or teasing at anyone's expense; it wouldn't even have to be that funny, but it would be something to break the tension.

The last thing he wanted was to put Lloyd's picture in between Kai's and Jay's, but that fear didn't stop him from pulling his lighter out of his pocket and gently pressing the flame to one of the sticks of incense until it caught, the warm smell of smoke slowly starting to fill the corner he was kneeling in.

"Cole?"

Cole turned his head, feeling his guard drop when Geo knelt down beside him and pressed a water bottle into his palm before letting his hand rest on his shoulder.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Geo offered and as much as Cole wanted to, the angle of his turned head allowed him to see Wyldfyre, Sora, Arin and even Zane with the same looks of worry on their faces that told him that he wouldn't be able to break right now.

"I can't," he admitted as he took a sip of the water before looking away from the others and back into Geo's eyes, "I gotta take care of these kids."

With that, he started to pull himself to his feet, only to be stopped briefly by a gentle hand on his wrist, "take care of yourself too."

"I will." Cole insisted before fully standing up and walking towards Sora, keeping his voice low as he approached, "hey, Sora."

Her loud sniffle, followed by her wiping her face on her arm, before she made eye contact with him pulled at his heart painfully, "hey, I just…I'm trying to figure out tomorrow."

"Your next fight?"

"There aren't a lot of people left in the competition. Frack's powers are all correlated to his abilities and Nokt is incredibly powerful, not to mention the fact that they are both helping Ras; if Lloyd is able to continue competing and they put me against him…" Sora sighed as she looked down at her feet, "I don't even know how I got this far in the tournament."

"Besides the fact that you're a badass?" Cole offered, waiting until she looked up at him with a raised eyebrow, "you doubt yourself a lot, Sora, but you have gotten further than all of us except Lloyd, which is saying something since we've been in a tournament like this before."

"Really?"

"Yeah, except this one has rules that the host actually follows," Cole elaborated, "my point is that if anyone is going to win this thing, it's you. If you have to go against Frack, I know how the workarounds to earth based powers and if it's Nokt, we'll come up with a strategy with Zane."

"And Lloyd?"

"I already had to watch two of my best friends fight on opposite sides, I really hope Roby doesn't pit you two against each other."

"I've been thinking about that since we returned to our quarters," Cole nearly jumped out of his skin by the sudden intrusion of Zane's voice as he sat between the two of them, "and I have run the possible scenarios through my database. There is a sixty seven point nine percent chance that Lloyd and Nokt will be pitted against each other, due to their very powerful skill sets at their base level that has only been amplified by the addition of elemental powers which will result in a twenty percent increase in audience entertainment levels."

"But what if they pit me against Lloyd?"

"The likelihood is much lower, it's a thirty two point one percent chance, but including the fact that Lloyd is your master and the engagement from the fight between Nya and Jay, the audience entertainment levels could increase up to eighty percent."

"So it could really go either way." Cole sighed in defeat that was only added to by Zane's nod followed by one word.

"Precisely."

"I hate this," Sora shuddered, tears falling down her cheeks faster than she could wipe them away, "Nya and Riyu are gone, Arin won't talk to me, and now Lloyd is really, really hurt. I just want all of this to be over."

"Yeah, me too, kiddo."

"I know everyone says that ninja never quit…" she trailed off in order to pull a sniffly inhale, "but I really feel like quitting right now."

"I know that you feel hopeless but forfeiting the tournament now, especially if Lloyd is unable to fight tomorrow, would be catastrophic to our reasoning for coming here."

"Zane's right," Cole agreed, reaching over to gently squeeze Sora's shoulder, "we have to find out who is killing the matriarchs and what they are using their horns for."

"This isn't helping me feel bet-" Sora mumbled, but was effectively cut off by the sound of the door opening followed by two of the security bots making their way into the room.

"Can we be of assistance?" Zane offered as he stood with Cole and Sora doing the same and Cole's feeling of unease returned just as quickly as it had been momentarily forgotten.

"We have been given orders to ensure that Zane and Cole follow us to the medical wing in order to receive information about the injured member of their team."

"What about the rest of us?" Arin's question was the first time Cole had heard the teen speak in hours, briefly making him wonder if Sora wasn't the only one on the receiving end of his silent treatment.

"I apologize, but the only ones allowed inside of the medical wing are adult team members. You will have to wait here for the information to be relayed to you."

Cole waited for a protest from the three teens, but was instantly relieved when Geo spoke up instead, "let's get you three some dinner ordered. I don't know if you've had it yet, but the Merlopian spring rolls are to die for."

As the two security bots led Cole and Zane outside, he couldn't stop himself from looking back at his boyfriend and the three distracted teenagers, but the wink that Geo gave was enough for Cole to allow himself to focus on the task at hand.

Making sure Lloyd was okay.

In a way, he was thankful that Arin had pulled him away from the arena after Sora's fight.

Cole would be more than happy to go the rest of his life without seeing another person he loved deep within a coma and even though he was quickly swept up into yet another fight, it prevented him from going back to the room filled with tense silence and suffering.

In fact, it was that adrenaline that he found himself engulfed in, that kept him realizing that Lloyd was 'awake and alive and standing' until after he had pulled Bonzle into a very tight hug, unable to stop himself from muttering "thank the master you're okay" just loud enough that she could hear it.

Which made the calm he settled into after failing to find Arin all the more unsettling; in any other circumstance, he would have gladly taken the chance to just relax on the couch with Geo's head on one shoulder while he firmly wrapped the other one around Bonzle as Fritz and Spitz recounted everything they had been up to while they had been staying at the monastery with Frohickey.

He so desperately wanted to keep his focus on the elaborate but more than likely exaggerated story he was being told, but his mind kept going back to Lloyd.

The sword shattering on impact, knocking him off of the high platform from several feet onto the ground with a thud. The harsh coughing and his eyes fluttering open with a squint before they closed with a groan. Geo's hand resting softly on his shoulder as he watched over Lloyd and gently wiped away the blood and sweat with a sponge, his stomach twisting painfully as he listened to the sharp, painful breathing escaping from Lloyd's battered chest.

Standing over his teammate, the teammate he had known since they were sixteen and nine, and once again unable to do anything to help, feeling as though he was thirteen again and slowly watching his mom deteriorate until she too fell into a coma.

'Lloyd woke up,' he tried to reassure himself when he felt a squeeze on his left hand from Geo that brought him back to the two yawning storytellers, 'Lloyd's going to be okay.'

But when Bonzle got up with an "alright, you can talk our ears off tomorrow," as she ushered Fritz and Spitz to their room, Cole wasn't able to shake the unsettled feeling in his gut.

"When was the last time you checked on him?" Geo prodded, using the opportunity to sit up and brush some of the raven-black hair behind Cole's ear.

"Before Sora's fight. After that, everything got really chaotic; now Arin's gone," Cole stopped to rub a hand over his face before turning to Geo with a sigh, "and I don't know how I'm going to even approach that."

"In my personal experience, starting with a hug tends to work."

"Yeah, yeah, you're right," Cole muttered as he stood, only stopping to turn around to hug Geo quickly along with a quick kiss on his cheek, "I'll be back, okay?"

"Just make sure he's okay."

And with Geo's insistence, he walked out of the living room and into the hallway of the monastery to start looking for Lloyd.

He should have known it wouldn't take long to find him; even in the short period since he had returned to the monastery, it wasn't lost on him just how much time Lloyd spent outside deep in meditation.

But when he got closer and noticed what Lloyd was holding, he couldn't help but swallow nervously: he knew when he went to check on him that his worry and regret for how that final battle went being at the forefront of his mind was a strong possibility, but being face-to-face with it still made him aware that how he approached the green ninja would have to be very careful.

"Hey, buddy," Cole settled on, trying his hardest to keep his demeanor calm and collected in order not to further set him off despite the instant jump and turn that his voice caused, "you doing okay?"

At first, he didn't get an answer as he looked down at the stone floor; but the look on Lloyd's face, which was twisted tightly with guilt and worry, spoke for itself.

And when he finally managed to speak, the crack in his voice made it very clear to Cole that he was using all of his remaining energy to stay composed, "he's gone. I don't know why he believed Ras, but he did. Now he's gone, all because I failed him."

"Lloyd-"

"And I don't know what to do. Sora, Riyu and Wyldfyre, they're all looking to me for answers that I don't even have. I don't even know where to begin looking for him or if I want to bring everyone into that or just go-"

"Lloyd, take a deep breath," Cole cut off his rambling, "it has been a really long couple of weeks and I know you want to find Arin so you can make things right, but all of us need a couple of days to breathe and to rest."

"Y-you're right," Lloyd stuttered as he looked down at the photo frame clutched tightly in his palm, "I know that, but at the same time…I want to find him before Ras has a chance to further manipulate him. We saw what he did to Jay."

Cole swallowed down the memory of Jay's glowing red eyes after he used Shatterspin, not wanting it to cloud his judgment, "you have to finish healing, Lloyd. That hit and the fall, it was a lot."

Sure enough, Lloyd's hand drifted upwards to his shoulder over the bandages that had been wrapped tightly around him in the aftermath of his fight against Zeatrix.

"Come on," Cole offered, holding his hand out for Lloyd to take, "let's get you checked over and in bed. It's been a long day."

"I thought I was the master of the monastery." Lloyd said with a light chuckle as he put down the picture frame before taking Cole's hand so he could get down the step before he gently wrapped his arm around him.

"You are, but even masters need someone to look after them," and for a brief moment, Cole was reminded of watching with worry at every unexpected movement that Wu would make after he had been found, "now let's get those bandages changed."

Kai with his blacksmith, Cole with his art, Jay with his inventing and poetry. Then theres Zane being the creation, and the best one Dr Julien had ever made too.

Guys who’s up for a little brainstorming!! Hm… how about… when the team crushed in the middle of the ocean, with a ghost on board yet made it out completely alive and fairly well?

(This is a totally random subject that is not-at-all related to helping me get out of my block)

So! Wanna figure out how they made it? Make a whole new fictional way that if works I’ll happily add to my fanfiction? Hm?

I’ll be fair and start with something

I thought of them summoning their dragons on time, but giving the circumstances it’s too unlikely that they 1) won’t be struck by a bolt (it’s an electrical storm and you best now Cole rather getting struck then getting close to water. and 2) be too freaked out (Cole especially) 3) are too tired (Jay from being electrocuted and all of them from a long journey and trying to keep the ship together)

So I also thought of the cruise ship having a lifeboat and them getting it ready on time for them to jump on before they crush with the ship but just?? 1) I’m not sure yachts have lifeboats, 2) it’s the thing that 4 people are supposed to fit there and how do I even start on explaining how they’re leaving Zane behind

Guess what y'all I've got MORE KAI-CENTRIC MOVIE IDEAS because at this point I'm getting excited about the idea of a live action Ninjago movie because the more I think about it, the more I think there's a lot of ways that they could do it well. However, one of the biggest things I'm worried about is that we'll have a repeat of The Lego Ninjago Movie: great development of the main character, but then the other characters are basically just there to be there with little to no development at all.

So here's continuing off of my last two posts talking about making Kai the main character and a base plot concept, here's what I would do with the other ninja if I was writing the live action movie:

First off, general characterization themes: with the concepts that I have going into this Kai-centric movie already, I would want "protectiveness" to be a core part of the movie and have every character go on an arc that centers around this theme.

Starting off with Cole, this theme is already pretty central to his character throughout the show. He's the eldest in this line up, and so he wants to try to take the others under his wing and make sure they're safe. I think his biggest struggle with the "protectiveness" theme is that the others are extremely resistant to his protective tendencies. He needs to learn to take a step back in order to let the others take a step forward and accept help. Also we're totally keeping Cole's backstory with his dad and dancing and everything, but since that plot line doesn't fit in with the main theme as well it's something we would save for a sequel.

For Jay, I think it would be interesting to tackle a character arc of selfishness/selflessness for him. As an orphan who grew up in a junkyard (a REQUIRED portion of his backstory) this Jay is pretty protective of his inventions. He tends to see a lot of value in things that other people see as "trash" because he can see the potential in them -- possibly alludes to an inferiority complex, but I digress. His arc in this movie would focus on him learning to value the people around him more than his creations, and to shift his protectiveness over the things he makes over to protecting those around him.

Zane, of course, has protectiveness built into his character; he was built to protect those who cannot protect themselves. HOWEVER, I've been thinking about this the last few days, and I'll be honest... I don't want the nindroid reveal to be in the first movie. For the ideas that I have going into this, I think it would be better to save this reveal for a a second film. I'll probably talk about this more in a later post BUT I'll just leave it there for now and say Zane would be a bit more of a background character in this first movie!

Nya, on the other hand, would play a pretty central role. Like the show I wouldn't give her elemental powers in this first installment, but she would have a very clear arc of independence VS protectiveness. She starts out by being kidnapped by the Skeleton Army, and she spends the first 30ish minutes of the run time breaking out and meeting Lloyd. Lloyd offers her help and she initially turns it down because of that 'independence' aspect of her character, but later ends up accepting it so she can get them both out of the army's clutches. With Lloyd's help she's able to build a rudimentary exoskeleton suit (think Iron Man Mark 1) and get them out of there, only to meet up with the ninja. They offer for her to be part of the team, but at first she refuses because she's set on being more of a solo act. She rebuilds her suit throughout the rest of the movie, turning into a full-fledged Samurai X by the end. At the climax of the movie, the whole Kai-saves-Lloyd-from-the-volcano scene gives her the motivation to step from an independent role to a protective role, and she joins the team to help finish the fight.

I just want all of the characters to actually have character arcs and motivations and I'm terrified that the movie won't give us that lol

It's A Lie to Say that I Learnt First as a Necessity

I understand the fact that Dragons Rising was inevitable in a storytelling and product point of view. Like yeah, if you want your stories and characters to not lose themselves on countless plot-twists and the same battles, you have to let them go, but that doesn't mean that it hurts me 😔.

Ninjago is been going for years, and I always found it amazing how "well kept" everything went seeing as how easily it is to ruin a show if you just continue making it (side eyes Free!), but they still had the usual problems with some characters. Zane forgot everything he learned every couple seasons, Nya would always default to the same problems, and Cole... Man... He deserved better.

Ninjago is a publicity stunt to sell Lego trademarked bayblades, so obviously they will make their series around the favorite characters. So my favorite other characters didn't get the spotlight they deserved. And now with Dragons Rising there's even less chance for them.

I watched DR and I liked it, ngl. I like Arin and Sora, it took me a while to accept Wyldfire, but they're all great characters, and I'm really excited to see what they will be doing, but man it makes me sad.

Cole now has a team outside of the ninja, and he is obviously not the fav by a long shot, so coming to terms with the fact that Cole may never receive any character development again is kind of breaking me a little.

And I wish I could just buy his merch, but he was so hated before that they won't bring any merch of him to my country.

I've been dreaming of finding something of him, and even in my dream I can only find awfully bad bootlegs that come in sets with Homer Simpson and Spiderman for some reason.

My point being. I'll miss you Cole Ninjago. My brainrot will never heal, but it will push me to make a shit ton of fanfics and art because this is the most inspired I've been in 10 years and I am not joking.

Help, I haven't upload anything for the last 3 days and I have no idea what to do- but Im just gonna give you my wip of my fanfic I 'was' working on, critism is always open

The mission was going well so far, but it went downhill from there on.

Jay yawned and stretched his arms out to the air, groggily rubbed his hands on to his eyes. Jay slowly sat up at the edge of his bed, eyes closed.

Jay opened his eyes and started to walk to the bathroom to get ready for the day as a ninja. Entering the bathroom he grabbed the toothbrush and toothpaste from the sink countertop and brushed his teeth. He then spat out the paste into the sink and turned the tap on and washed his face to get energized.

As he was tidy up, strong hands slither around his waist and held him closer. Jay looks up as see Cole, staring at each other's eyes. He loves him so much, aswell his other boyfriends that he'd sacrifice himself for them. Cole lowered himself and gave a quick peck on Jay's freckled nose. Jay giggled and held his hands up and touched his nose that Cole kissed on.

"You should hurry up, Lloyd has something that he wants to tell us about." Cole said and walked out the door. Jay blinked and blinked and then reality hit him as he hurriedly got into his Gi and rushed to the room everyone had arrived at.

Arriving, everyone was already at their places and he rushed into his seat between Nya and Cole. He then grabbed a spoon and fork that was prepared beside his plate that Pixal prepared for everyone. But since he was the last one, he's the only one eating. He'll need to eat fast then.

"Alright, since everyone is here, I want to tell you guys something that is happening in Ninjago city." Lloyd spoke up and put both of his hands at the side of his hips.

"The police called me about what we are going to. We are going to a ruined underground mineshaft." When no one replied he continued "they said that the most recent wanted criminals went there and we are told to check what that shaft in store that the criminals wanted." Lloyd stated.

"So we just need to get in there and find something odd and skedaddle out? seems easy enough." Kai spoke from the back.

"Don't jinx it, Kai!!" Jay yelled at him. Kai was just holding his arms up in reply to that.

"Yeah, they were probably up to no good if most wanted criminals went there. We should get prepared." Cole said.

"Correct, Pixal has prepared us a van that we all can use to get there. Is quite far from Ninjago city so it might take a while." Zane told the group.

"Wait! A van? What happened to the bounty?" Jay questioned

"The bounty unfortunately has parts that got broken down from the last mission, therefore we aren't able to use it for this mission." Zane answered.

"Well it's settled then, let's get going." Nya waved her hands up and down as Lloyd was walking in front of her going out of the monastery.

Jay pushed his plate off his side and hurriedly-almost tripped followed behind them.

it's been a long, long time since I was relevant in Ninjago fandom but I've randomly been slammed with nostalgia for my good old angst-fest. I'll never get to writing up to the horrifically angsty part, but I'm still in the feels about tiwtw and I've 1. found some old written chapters I can publish, of which this is the first 2. want to write a summary/timeline of the major plot points for the fic, so that people at least know what would have happened and if we're lucky (feedback and thoughts and engagement would help a lot for this one! I love hearing people scream about the plot!) 3. I write snippets about the important bits for funsies and post those too so it becomes more of a collection of scenes than a tight-knit fic, but something is better than nothing

Adjusting: Heard there was an outcry for some Pre-Pilot fics, so what better one than this story about Cole?? Cole attempts to make friends with the bizarre newfound members of this so-called team, but he has some trouble...adjusting (OOOH TITLE DROP!!!)

My Battery is Low (And it's Getting Dark): Always a must-recommend from me, this Zane-centric tale chronicles his time alone in the Never-Realm through a video diary that breaks down his feelings on the other Ninja, his attempts at dealing with his situation...and his own spiraling doubts and loneliness until suddenly he doesn't

D is For Don't Drop Kick Metal Helmets Unless You're Wearing Shoes: Gotta be logged into Ao3 for this one mmmBUT it's a fun little story focusing on Nya, her time as Samurai X, and bits of her and Cole's dynamic! Really great character voice in this one, along with many funny and charming moments!

Some Burn Hot, Some Burn Cold: A Lloyd story that have served as a great inspiration to me along with being an all-around fascinating look into how Lloyd deals with his emotions, especially compared to everyone else. Love me some Lloyd confronting emotions *-*)9

Ok adding on more to my ideas for a Kai-centric live action Ninjago because I have more thoughts, so here's some things that I would like to see in relation to the base plot:

As mentioned in my last post, this would be early-Ninjago based, mostly just adapting season one and the pilots. However, we're thinking about this as a two-hour movie, so it isn't going to have the time that a full season would. I'm also thinking about this as part of a duology because there is no way that (provided the first movie doesn't COMPLETELY suck) Lego won't do a sequel to capitalize on the new medium and marketability

With that being said, I would ignore the serpentine for this first live action film. The villains would be Garmadon and the skeleton army, led by Samukai (underrated villain in my books). This could also save us from some terrible CGI snakes; I think the skeleton army would translate better to live action than the serpentine would

Like I mentioned in my last post, the baseline plot would be the ninja collecting the Golden Weapons. It's a very rushed plot line in the show since it happens in the pilots, which means there's a lot of room to explore and develop it without being too much of a direct comparison to how it's done in the show. In addition, it gives a great chance to give each of the ninja their own focus, unlike the Lego Ninjago Movie which really only gives character development to Lloyd.

I'm going back and forth with this, but as of now I'm thinking that Nya does get kidnapped by the skeleton army like she does in the original pilots. However, instead of her playing the damsel in distress role like she is in the pilots, she gets more of her season one characterization and gets to go on her own subplot of breaking out of imprisonment and she's the first one to meet Lloyd

So like halfway through the movie the ninja are on their way to one of the Golden Weapons that Garmadon is about to grab and they basically run right past Nya, who's running away from a skeleton hoard that she'd managed to singlehandedly escape with a new little brother in tow.

Throughout the movie the characters are told that they have elemental powers inside of them that can be channeled by their weapons, not controlled by them. As each ninja gets their weapon they unlock their powers, and all the ninja kind of use their powers through their weapons... until the climax scene, where Kai is the first one to use his element without having to touch the sword (kind of doing the "true potential" moment without calling it that)

It would actually be kind of cool if the weapons weren't named after their elements in this version and the ninja don't find out what their element is until they get to use it for the first time. Like they go after the Golden Scythe and none of them have any clue what it'll do until Cole grabs it and then can suddenly make earthquakes. Like, theoretically if Jay had been the one to grab the Scythe, then it would have channeled his lightning and been a Scythe of Lightning... could also lead to a lot of foreshadowing about other elemental masters existing, since I don't think they had initially planned that with the first two seasons and it always made it a little weird to me that the Special Golden Weapons Of All Creation TM were tied specifically to these four random dudes. The Golden Weapons channel any element, the ninja just all have their preference of which one they use lol

we should drop some foreshadowing about the Megaweapon too, I think that would be great material for a second movie if we make collecting the Golden Weapons a big part of the first one

Having the Golden Weapon Quest TM as the central plot for the movie is also great because it gives the villain a reason to be doing something too. I'm scared of the live action movie that gets released having a one-dimensional Garmadon who just... is evil... and does evil... No. Here, he actually had a reason to be doing his evil things; he wants to remake Ninjago in his own image, and he needs the Golden Weapons to do so. Thus, collection competition.

OH and speaking of motivation, that's why I think I'd like Nya to be kidnapped in this still. It gives Kai a good reason to look at the old guy who showed up on his doorstep and said "hey want to join my super special fight club?" and say "ABSOLUTELY YES". I would love for this movie to give us a good older brother Kai to both Nya and Lloyd, so this would be a great foundational motivation to get him going along with the Plot

my new addiction to the fantastic browser game fallen london gave me ideas

if you’re in the ninblr gartic phone server you’ve probably seen me infodump about the fallen ninjago AU, here it is in full, here’s all my ideas + some rough character designs for FN!jay, kai and zane

some bg info: the ships here are conductor (kai x jay x zane), lost (cole x geo), samurai (nya x pixal) and citrus (echo zane x morro), though i think the AU’s quite conductor-centric due to jay’s amnesia and kai and zane trying to solve it. other ships include alterego (harumi x seliel) and programshipping (milton dyer x cyrus borg)!!

the basic plot of the AU (lifted almost directly from fallen london, i take no credit for like half the plot) is that inbetween crystalised and dragons rising, the city of ninjago was sold to the cursed/departed realm (pick and choose, company merger, whatever), specifically to the shadowy elite of the realm the masters, and the city fell into a large cave system, on the edge of a vast underground ocean. i have no idea what to call the cave system so for simplicity i’ll just refer to it as the neath like it’s called in fallen london. the AU takes place six years after the fall, known informally as The Incident. the ninja have largely gone their own ways as things are… weird in fallen ninjago. there’re dead(ish) people walking about, the cursed realm has an embassy with a depressed housekeeper (will get onto that later), death is just an inconvenience (though if you die you can’t see the sun again), etc.

everybody retains their elemental powers. everything in the plot of ninjago remains the same up until that point inbetween crystalised and DR (however jaya, pixane, any lloyd relationship and kailor aren’t there for obvious reasons). i did find a way to put lost in this though

anyways CHARACTER STUFF

lloyd garmadon (they/them): the green ninja whose still trying to help the residents of fallen ninjago. they usually tend to the bar of laughys’, a popular bar in downtown ninjago, and is aroace. they unofficially officially/adopt a little kid whose parents went missing during The Incident, one arin nevid. lloyd gives the remaining ninja tasks to do, as though they’re still a team, there’s simply too much going on in fallen ninjago to constantly stick together

jay walker (he/him): the amnesiac owner of a tech workshop/mechanic in the preeminent’s market, a very popular market (and the equivalent of the bazaar from fallen london). he was in a polycule with kai and zane, though obviously he doesn’t particularly remember them anymore (they get back together in the end + kai and zane are still together anyway). during The Incident, he suffered a quite nasty fall, damaging his legs (possibly through hitting them on a stalagmite) and giving him temporary amnesia. he’s a wheelchair user (though whenever he doesn’t have to walk very far he uses his cane) due to this accident. unlike dragons rising he isn’t evil dw he’s very kind but is slowly getting all his memories back. one by one. all of them. oof. he just goes along with kai and zane because they’re pretty and he’s slowly remembering them

zane julien (he/any (except it/its)): a freelance detective who works with kai (his only remaining boyfriend 💔💔💔). LARPs as a victorian gentleman. takes on cases in search for clues of just what happened to ajy

kai jiang (he/they): hothead. is potentially the most aggressive in his efforts to get jay to remember them and the rest of the team, though when with zane and/or jay is much softer in terms of personality.

cole brookstone (he/him): the others (usually lloyd) give him tasks and investigations to do. he has that natural Dad Energy. was told to investigate the cursed realm’s embassy in ninjago and woopsy daisy he accidentally got with the literal housekeeper (and became dad to the housekeeper’s adopted kids). anyways onto the housekeeper in question

geo finder (he/any): an artist who got caught up in The Incident whilst running away from shintaro. they eventually developed quite bad fibromyalgia from the overexertion on their legs caused by working from a very young age in shintaro, so he uses a vv pretty cane he decorated over time instead. the cursed realm people found him and gave him a job to keep him off the streets. he adopted three “kids” (fritz, spitz n bonzle (the “kid”)) from an orphanage (they also got caught up in The Incident) and lives in the embassy as its housekeeper. geo’s a very anxious and rather quiet and mysterious individual largely due to his childhood, but he gradually warms up after adopting them and finding cole

nya jiang (she/her): pixal’s girlfriend, kai’s sister, mostly resides in borg tower (the equivalent of the house of chimes (big ben), essentially half of borg tower is submerged in water, image from fallen london of the house of chimes for reference below) with pix in order to keep cyrus company and to keep an eye on any potential shady business going on there

pixal borg (she/it): keeping her father company in borg tower. she helps nya keep an eye on both the tower and the rest of the city. she conducts a lot of research (scrolling through chirp mainly) on the… strange phenomena occuring in fallen ninjago, as she often can’t see it herself due to only venturing out of the tower a few times a month.

morro wu (he/they): alongside the other ghosts + a very special biker robot person, he’s one of the equivalents of the masters of the bazaar, known simply in this AU as the masters. on first glance, morro appears to be the main man of the masters, though he’s simply a puppet for the true ruler of fallen ninjago, the queen herself the preeminent. still he has, alongside the others, somewhat of a say in what goes down in the city. he has some kind of friendship with geo, though they mainly act like coworkers and morro only goes down to the embassy whenever there’s really important business matters to attend to

echo zane julien, or mr. e (he/they/it): morro’s boyfriend. he uses mr. e as a pseudonym, nearly everyone except the other masters refer to them as such. he’s the quietest member of the group and often only really opens up to morro. during The Incident, the lighthouse kinda got womp womped and he ended up on the streets of fallen ninjago, and morro found them and took him in like a sad pathetic wet cat (/lh)

harumi montgomery (formerly harumi jade) (they/them): the former jade heir apparent (prince/princess) of ninjago, now someone who works odd jobs (mercenary, housekeeper, detective, etc.) to earn money and build up an even better reputation amongst the citizens due to the fact that the royal family’s kinda,,,, not really there anymore. they’re on slightly good terms with lloyd but lloyd’s still very distrustworthy of them. they live in the flit (a big crime area) with misako (their adoptive mum(ish)) and their girlfriend seliel and be gay and do crime

arin nevid (he/him): young impressionable fan of the ninja, of whom lloyd took in. he has the unusual ability to perform object spinjitzu, an ability that could’ve been caused by the strangeness of the masters and The Incident. in this AU he doesn’t end up going off with ras, at least that’s the plan right now, idk if i might make him become a master or something though

seliel phantom (he/she): phantom ninja and criminal in the flit. she has connections to the masters because of cole and geo and uses the knowledge those two get of them to mess with them (the masters) because she’s just Like That. bigender as flip

misako montgomery-garmadon (she/her): historian, researcher and flit criminal who kinda yoinked harumi?? ehh they didn’t have parents anyway + she knew they knew their kid so why not?? speaking of her kid YES she’s on good terms with lloyd, they just don’t see eachother that much. you arent getting misako bashing in this for the love of SHE RUNS A SMALL MUSEUM IN FALLEN NINJAGO AND IT’S VERY EPIC :D fsm knows what her relationship’s like with garmadon post-incident tbh
