Chapter 2 | Scrawled Nothingness
pairing: Marc Spector x Reader (implied Steven Grant x Reader, implied Jake Lockley x Reader)
summary: Even after a year living with Steven and Jake in the headspace, Marc struggles to quiet the buzzing chatter. He finds himself frequenting Coffee for Two, a place where brewing roasts fill the air and the cookies are as sweet as the barista.
content: coffeeshops, fluff, flirting, angst (mentions of Marc's past)
wc: 2.1k
a/n: Thank you for all the love in the first chapter! I'm so happy summer's started, so I'll have more time to write out more chapters AND get to the fun and silly asks you sent me!! My inbox is always open for unhinged thoughts and requests. Enjoy!

Marc shows up at Coffee for Two at 11:59 p.m. on the dot every Monday night.
Not a Monday morning when people showed up in slacks or pencil skirts for a shot of espresso. And certainly, not a Friday night when teenagers line up for a tooth-achingly sweet drink they found the recipe for online.
Besides, he likes his coffee black.
The closing shift was clockwork at this point after helping your Nan for years — prop the chairs snug against the table, wipe the floors, and cheekily bag up a couple of pastries for the next day’s breakfast.
Your eyes flick over at the clock nearly striking midnight, as you lean the broom against the edge of the countertop.
Marc should’ve been here by now, shoulders pulled back and head tilted down, ready to sweep the to-go cup and splash stick.
You remember that he typically parked a white limo… Maybe he chauffeured for a party, hence the break in the weekly conversation. If you could even call it that. It was more like an exchange of stolen glances and nods before parting again.
The logical part of you yearns to walk back to the apartment sooner than you planned and plop down face-first onto the couch. But a nagging twinge irked you to stay a little longer to see if he’d stroll in as usual.
You could already imagine his face if he saw the sign flipped to close, his bottom lip jutted out into a pout, and a crease between his brows.
You laugh to yourself at the image of Melodramatic Marc instead of Moody Marc then ultimately deciding to give in to the latter. Maybe you’d curse yourself out when you have to wake up in a couple of hours to prepare the croissants for the next day, but you wanted to take your chances right now.
Rounding the corner of the counters, you duck your head under the cabinets and look for the roast you wanted him to try and the materials you need for a pour-over.
You place the paper filter onto the dripper then unfurl the bag of coffee beans and toss just the right amount into the grinder. The crushing hum and toasted smell of the grounds was a welcome change after a day of listening to grating ice and spurting whipped cream. With a kettle in hand and the setup complete, you gently trickle the water into circles, watching the grounds set in and coffee drip down the other end.
You grab a white cup, soon covered with drawings of stars and sparkles, reminiscent of the few you could see from the window. The moon outshined them all, full and on display without a cloud in sight.
You pour the coffee into the well-dressed it (scrawled with Marc’s name in the annoyingly very pink Sharpie) and notch the lid.
Checking the time again, you realize it’s well past midnight.
Maybe it’s time to go home, but you didn’t have the heart to toss the drink away. You take a sip, the liquid barely touches your tongue before you hiss at the bitterness.
How does Marc drink this?
No sugar, no milk.
You drizzle in a couple of pumps and squirts of your preferred add-ons, vowing to yourself to never take it purely the way he does. Drink and purse in one hand, you turn the sign to “closed” and twist the lock with the other.
Hermano, just check if the place for your coffee fix is open. It won’t hurt, Jake rolls his eyes.
Marc mutters, “No, we don’t need another pitstop after the shit Khonshu just dragged us through.”
Maybe they’ll still have those biscuits I like to eat with the tea! Steven's heart flutters at the thought of eating a couple of the raspberry linzer heart cookies.
He concedes. “Fine, but the moment I see the closed sign we’re going straight home. I didn’t ask to be in charge of snack runs, ya know?”
A unison of hurrahs echoes in his headspace, he can’t help but smile. In the whirlwind of events of carrying himself in a country that reminded him of crumbled relationships and even faultier progressions of moving on, the desire to find a place where he belonged was something he hated to admit.
Marc was good at playing the part of blending in for missions. Tugging on a disarming smirk to draw out intel from loose-lipped drunkards at the bar came naturally. As easily as turning on the charm while bargaining at the market for the first edition books Steven claimed was what he’d been searching for his whole life (Oh my days, I need those for my collection!). Or, yet another pair of leather gloves for Jake (Those are fingerless and the straps look cool).
But stripped of bells and whistles created by answering to every whim of humans and gods alike, Marc was just… him.
Steven had his apartment filled with knickknacks and collectibles.
Jake had his car housing his armaments and gadgets.
What did he have?
Marc frowns at the thought as he leaps across the rooftops, the moonlight catching the arc of the cape.
A cot in the storage unit and a fuck ton of baggage that couldn’t fit in his duffel bag.
But maybe Coffee for Two could be his.
As he leaps down behind the shop, his ceremonial suit unravels, tucking in on itself to reveal his black shirt and jeans. Surely, it’d be closed by now, but he still wanted to check.
Marc turns the corner and sees a sign written in big, loopy letters.
closed let's have "coffee for two" tomorrow
He sighs. “Told ya, who in their right mind would’ve kept open for one customer.”
A gust of wind ruffles his hair, Khonshu’s presence stronger than usual.
“Alright I get it, you damn bird! I get that we have another mission–”
A post-it flutters onto his shoe. He bends over and holds it under the streetlamp.
If you’re Marc, keep reading.  if you’re not Marc, why are you still reading this?
I think you can keep reading.
“Jake, shut up.”
I drank your black coffee.  Don’t know how you drink this.  It tastes like battery acid.
Steven laughs out the last two words. Think this sweet ol’ message made up for you looking so miffed, mate! She’s right about it though. I oughtta steep her a good cuppa.
“Hey, it keeps us awake! Your hot leaf juice makes our piss smell like flowers and does nothing else.”
Marc carefully tucks the paper into his jacket pocket.
A week after Marc’s absence, he walks in and you greet him with a tired smile as if there was no time lost in between.
“Black?”
He cocks his head up and grins. “Yes, miss.”
That’s new, you note.
“Got any of those uh, berry cookie thingies?” He makes two “Cs” with his hands and connects them, forming a crudely shaped heart.
Your eyebrow quirks up and the air is quiet with stillness before laughter bubbles up in your chest, pointing to what he was referring to. “Oh! The Linzer cookies!”
Marc flashes his teeth. “Mhm, a couple of those with the coffee.”
“I’m a little surprised you liked them. Did the sweetness grow on you?”
“Not for me, actually.”
“Did you want a second drink to pair with it?”
He replies cooly, “Nah, nothing like that. Just, for my brother.”
You give a noncommittal hum and turn your back to him, looking for a box to place the cookies in.
Marc chuckles, the corner of his lips curling. “Woah, don’t come pouncing at me all at once.”
“I just meant to mention that we have a promotion of buy two get the second drink half off for your partner.” You smile to yourself, the view obscured from him. “That’s why it’s called Coffee for Two after all.”
“Mm, right.”
Quietness blankets the pair as you assemble his orders.
He couldn’t recall the last time his headspace wasn’t buzzing with chatter without gut-wrenching aid, a bandaid haphazardly stuck on. Drowning out the noise wasn’t necessarily the problem, it was finding a way to keep a constant peace of mind. At the very least, keep it at bay. The past year was saturated with blackouts and memory gaps, the swirling gold whiskey dipped him into a hazy state. It wasn’t his favorite way to keep the quiet, but it did the job.
Every twist of the cap dragged him back to what was soon to come.
Every whiff of the liquid reminded him how her hot breath, seething with disdain, warmed his cheek.
And the heat he felt after chugging it was reminiscent of how she would hit the other, turning his head to the side.
The soft shifting of the pen on paper brought him back.
“See? Told you I give good service.” You slide the decorated coffee cup and a box of cookies in front of him with a smile.
Marc thumbs over his name, a little surprised you spelled it with a "c" instead of a "k", along with the twisting designs. “Nuh-uh. Think you forgot something again.”
“I worked hard on that masterpiece!” You frown, feigning annoyance. “You should be asking for my autograph.”
“I should be asking for your number.”
You don’t reply for a beat. “Well, are you going to?”
He smirks, pausing to mimic your surprise before saying, “Can you write down your number?”
You nibble your bottom lip, failing to hide your giddiness.
He reaches over to pluck the alarmingly pink Sharpie from the pot and hands it to you. “Think that godawful marker was made from toxic waste. Nothing in the natural world could create that color.”
You scrawl your number on it, careful not to spill the coffee. “Well that ‘godawful marker’ gave you an opportunity to claim that promo.”
“Can I use it now?”
“Not until you call me.”
Marc chuckles and picks up his order. “Well, I’ll be sure to do that.”
“See you when I see you. Monday at midnight again?”
“Or sooner.” His eyes flit over to your hand, knuckles white from the grip on your apron.
“Uh, not sooner. I’m closing for the week. There’s a couple of things I need to sort out… for the shop.”
Marc nods, not bothering to push the matter further. “I have a funny feeling you waited for me to come before you closed.”
You smile, the tension eases from your body.
Marc wakes up from the early sun rays filtering between the cracks of the curtain. He grumbles, Jake always forgets to pull it close before going to bed. He knew that if he stood up to fix it, his body would betray him and lose the cottony sleep he felt. With a groan, he flops over to his side, but before his eyes flutter close he catches an unfamiliar cup standing on his nightstand.
He doesn’t remember buying it yesterday and god forbid anybody forces Steven to drink anything quote battery acid unquote.
He picks it up, he notices the drawings… and a set of numbers.
So, it must be–
Marc flings the blanket off of him and stalks to the fish tank.
“Jake! I know you’re there!”
Gus peers at him curiously and releases little bubbles.
“I’m gonna slash your tires if you don’t come out!”
Jake stares back at him and raises his hands in surrender. Ay, you and I both know you wouldn’t do that. My driving gigs are one of the few ways we stay afloat these days.
Marc buries his fingers in his unruly curls. “It was mine!”
What was yours?
“Going to that place!”
I don’t get it–
“Of course you wouldn’t!” Marc bristles. “Couldn’t I just have this one thing without one of you weaseling your dick into my life?”
Hermano, look, I was just trying to help. We thought it was about time you make a friend... or something.
"And you didn't bother asking me first?"
“Oh and remind if I'm remembering this wrong, the last time you set up Steven was when you asked out his coworker to the steakhouse! He’s a vegetarian for god’s sake!”
Don’t get your panties in a twist.
Can we all just calm the “ef” out? Steven appears on the kettle’s reflection. Take a time-out or whatever you Americans say.
Marc fights the urge to raise his voice again in an attempt to dispel the ringing in his ears. If the pair tried to explain the situation, they’d be in for another scolding.
He opens his mouth before they can. “We can’t do this right now.”
Don’t speak for all of us, pendejo.
He fists the cup, it crumbles in on itself and tosses it into the bin.

I woke up feeling experimental a couple of days ago. The result was swapping my usual coffee for Vietnamese coffee. I haven't had it for a long time so it was the highlight of my day. It got me thinking.
Vietnamese coffee is typically made using coarsely ground, dark roasted Robusta. It is brewed through a small metal, cylindrical dripper called a phin, and is partnered with Vietnamese condensed milk. Until a couple of months ago, I did not know these specific details. The source of my enlightenment is this coffee podcast I was listening to while out on a walk. From that episode, I learned that while Vietnamese coffee became a trend during the pandemic, the context behind it has been somewhat lost in the hype. Non-Vietnamese people who drink it might perhaps think that it’s “quirky” because of the condensed milk, simply a novelty. But in fact there is a practicality, a necessity behind the use of condensed milk over regular milk. Condensed milk does not require refrigeration and does not spoil as fast as regular milk. In a country that had been poverty stricken and did not have readily available access to refrigeration in the past, this is a critical adaptation to make. And while “Vietnamese Coffee” can technically be made using any type of coffee beans, Robusta (rather than the more dominant Arabica) is specifically the type of coffee bean grown and cultivated in Vietnam. Yet the few cafes who do offer the drink do not specify if they’ve sourced their beans from Vietnam. On a philosophical level, it begs the question: when is Vietnamese Coffee truly a cup of Vietnamese Coffee, and when is it just coffee beans ground to a certain coarseness, filtered through a metal contraption and then mixed with sweet milk?
Now, personally, this is what I love about coffee as a passion. It is science, it is history, it is economics, it is anthropology. I think the desire to feel connected to the land is a part of what it means to be human. When I look for a bag of beans, the origin, the process, the plot of land, the altitude—every single detail matters. It allows me a glimpse into the lives of every single individual who partook in making that bag of coffee possible. It reminds me of the brutal history of coffee, the colonialism and the very long way we have left to truly make it an equitable trade. When I make the decision to buy coffee from a local roaster I am trying to connect with the land, the community of people who are reclaiming their story.
There’s a stereotype for people like me, I am aware, that assumes this meticulousness is out of a sense of elitism or perhaps condescension. Perhaps that stereotype of the “coffee bro” is warranted to an extent (and let’s not even get into the generalization that being “serious about coffee” is a “masculine” trait because here I am, an actual woman who can appreciate specialty coffee without feeling the need to shit on Starbucks/Dunkin). As with any hobby, a small group of people will always take it too far. But allow me to defend this lifestyle just a little bit here.
Before I knew anything about coffee it only served a ritualistic (perhaps a placebo) purpose of “keeping me awake” for the day-in-day-out “grind” (whatever the fuck that actually means, I don’t even know anymore). When I examine my relationship with coffee now, ironically, it is still all about keeping me awake though in a much deeper, existential sense. It is an avenue in my life where I can exercise my consciousness, a means to truly live life to the fullest extent. It challenges me to think more deeply about what I put in my body. It pushes me to heighten my senses, to truly savor everything. It guarantees that I do not take this one life I have for granted.
I think our modern world so easily trips on the illusion of perfection. Everything is glossy and staged and pretty. Worse, there seems to be a tendency to enshrine perfection that looks to have been achieved quickly and effortlessly. But whenever I enjoy coffee I am reminded of the value in the long, exhaustive trial-and-error that comes with producing interesting coffee. When I have my coffee while working I am reassured that I am allowed to be human and alive, not a product, not a thing manufactured through an assembly line. I don’t mean to preach that everyone should only be buying artisan, handmade goods all of the time. I don’t mean to advocate that unless you research your food down to the chemical level then you’re not living a good life. There is no such thing as a perfect way of life. There is only trying and doing. So we must always keep our eyes open and our minds receptive to anything we might have to relearn or unlearn. There’s always more to understand, change our minds about.
I’ve gone a very long way from Vietnamese coffee but here’s my point, finally:
Before I listened to the podcast’s episode on Vietnamese coffee, I didn’t know that it had that history behind it. I had been making it using whatever beans I had at home, not taking into consideration that it is traditionally made with Robusta beans. But I do know now. So while it is not a crime to make Vietnamese coffee with whatever beans you have at home, I now have the knowledge to try to come as close to it. I don’t live in Vietnam but I can choose Robusta beans specifically next time I look for beans. I can look up a cafe specifically catering beans from Vietnam. My horizon has expanded and I think that’s a beautiful thing.

Got everything done.
Decided to buy a vape first rather than on way back. I brought a pretty flimsy bag with me and didn't trust myself trying to juggle the ceramics while making a purchase. Got the peach ice ELF bar. Not a bad flavor. Put some stickers on it. Might add some more.
And my ceramics were finally fired so I was able to bring them back, 2 mugs + 3 coffee drippers. Really happy with how they turned out. Honestly, my expectations were super low. I decided to try a new glaze method (very smart to do that for the final proj). I like to glaze by doing one color inside and a different outside - method I used on the mugs. For the drippers, since the space and shape is kind of weird, I decided to just dunk them in glaze. Whole thing was dunked in a color to match outside of mugs, then dunked in white glaze to match inside. Thing is, since it's end of the semester, everyone is using the white glaze. So the water level was super low and it was insanely thick (not usually like that). To make a long story short, the glaze covered too thick and I had to wipe a lot of it off and just do my best to make it okay with some iron oxides. So honestly really proud of how they turned out.
After putting everything way and photographing the ceramics for my portfolio, I took a shower and made some tea. Now I'm lying in bed watching GTLive videos and looking around the area on Google Maps for places to go to try and make the most of break by myself.
Still no word from my friend. Really worried about things. I don't know how to fix things.

The latest coffee nerd fuel splurge, with Clever Dripper waiting in the background. ☕
I had been feeling just broke enough to hold off on buying more specialty coffee for a while especially with some I hadn't tried yet still stashed in the freezer. But, Koppar managed to tempt me with a Velveeta mail about this year's limited edition Easter coffee.
Which they promptly sold out of before I gave in a few days later, but oh well. Instead, I decided to grab some of these other Ethiopian beans which sounded promising. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Natural processed, from Yirgacheffe.)
Tumblr media
And also a bag of these darker roasted Sumatran beans, because they sounded interesting and a second bag meant free shipping.
Tumblr media
About to try that first, since the other bag was roasted 3 days ago and still needs some resting time.

Stocking Fillers!
We told you to keep an eye as we'd be making a list of stocking filler gifts for the coming Christmas season, and we've done just that. Below is our top five gifts from our favourite suppliers to help ease the stress on you and your wallet this Christmas while also buying from local shop owners because we all love an independent business!
Number 5. VDA Coffee, Naas
VDA are one of our go to shops in Naas for coffee, especially for coffee equipment. Here is a link to a drip coffee maker for only €10 meaning you could throw in filters and a bag of coffee for about €25. Not bad for a secret santa office gift. https://www.vdacoffee.ie/product/hario-v60-coffee-dripper/
Number 4. Winelab, Clane
We love winelab!! Winelab are amazing and offer some amazing mystery wine boxes to get you trying different wines you'd never even think of. For Christmas they have an entire section of their store dedicated to gifts. Some are a little boujy and pricey but we found this 'Little Moments' pack containing a sparkling, a red and a white wine along with greeting card for only €50. This is an ideal gift for those relatives coming to visit on Christmas day. https://www.winelab.ie/products/missed-moments?variant=36932756603032
Number 3. Carton House, Maynooth
Everyone says vouchers are impersonal. Not us! A voucher can be a very thoughtful gift and can actually say you know the person more than anything. With that, we have selected a voucher for Carton House in Maynooth for our third slot. This voucher is for a two person wine experience with charcuterie board. It's €90 so it's quite mid range and would be ideal for a family member and their partner. https://www.cartonhouse.com/activities/unique-activities/wine-tasting
Number 2. P.S Coffee Roasters, Naas
We were always going to include these guys. They're our favourites and they know what they're doing. So much so, our selection from them for your stocking filler is their coffee club subscription service. Fresh bags of coffee, roasted and ground to your liking delivered to your door... or in this case, your friends or loved ones door. You can alter how many you'd like to receive so the price varies from €15-€216. Lots of room in there to choose for that special someone. https://pscoffeeroasters.com/collections/coffee-subscription
Number 1. The Nude Wine Co., Sallins/Naas
It's not all about money at Christmas so for number 1 we are leaving the choice to you. The Nude Wine co. is a fantastic business ran by a sommelier who know so much and focuses on organic and interesting wines as well as the wine makers themselves. We've linked their entire Christmas shop because we couldn't pick just one item. They have some great hampers that are really inventive and make amazing gifts. https://thenudewineco.ie/wine-category/christmas-shop/
So that's it! That is our top five gifts this year for Christmas, something to suit everyone in you life you may need to buy a gift for. Let us know if you pick anything up from the list or if you have any suggestions on things we can add to an updated list as we get closer to the big day.

Home coffee solutions needed for someone who travels a lot
Home coffee solutions needed for someone who travels a lot Hi all, I’m looking for a coffee solution at home since I’m traveling quite a lot and am home for maybe 2-3 days a week (not consecutive). I have a gaggia anima, a clever coffee dripper, and an aeropress (as well as a burr grinder). Up until now, the gaggia is what I used to use on a daily basis. My travel has picked up quite a bit and now, I find myself having an espresso from the gaggia maybe once or twice a week. With how hectic my schedule can get, I may not remember to empty the puck container which means it gets completely moldy by the time I come back (not to mention the beans are just sitting in the hopper (which for the gaggia, isn’t air tight, more of a flimsy cover). I thought of switching over to the clever dripper or the aeropress which would solve the moldy puck issue but that doesn’t solve the issue of opening a new bag of beans and letting it get old. At the rate I’m going, a standard 12oz could last me over a month as opposed to the usual week. I’ve just placed an order for a nespresso vertuoplus since the pods are sealed but the general consensus for the nespresso is pretty terrible (better than Keurig but that’s not saying much). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Submitted May 08, 2023 at 12:36PM by bbyf16 https://ift.tt/LujCR8Z via /r/Coffee

This Lucy is sharp, angry, and more than a little cynical-instead of awe, she treats him with extreme caution. The Lucy that Gabriel finds is not the same woman he rescued, the one who looked at him as if he were her hero. The last thing she expects is for Gabriel Jones to come back to town for her. Soon her life unravels until she has nothing left but her pride. With no rational reason for her abduction, and her sole witness gone on another assignment for the Guild, whispers start circulating that Lucy made it all up. Gabriel Jones is the Ghost Hunter sent to rescue her, but escaping the underground ruins isn’t the end of her troubles-it’s only the beginning. She’s been surviving on determination and cold pizza, scavenged for her by a special dust bunny, when help finally shows up. Kidnapped and drugged as she leaves the party, she manages to escape-only to find herself lost in the mysterious, alien underground maze of glowing green tunnels beneath Illusion Town. But it’s the after-party that turns disastrous for Lucy Bell. Case in point-weddings are still the highlight of any social calendar. Living in this new, alien world doesn’t stop the settlers from trying to re-create what they’ve left behind. Welcome to Illusion Town on the colony world of Harmony-like Las Vegas on Earth, but way more weird.

Smeraldo (Jin X Reader) Pt.2
Tumblr media
🌼 Summary: You decide to start a new life in the town you grew up then, but everything has changed. There are many new places in your old town, including a flower shop with a peculiar name.
🌼 Genre: romance, fluff, strangers to lovers
🌼 Warnings: None, unless you can’t handle Mr. WWH
🌼 Words: 3.6K
🌼 A/N: This is my second part of this story; I’m thinking of doing a few chapters for this story in particular. As always, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy :)
🌼 Previous Parts: Part 1
The next day had come, and you were sitting up in your bed feeling very dazed. You had not slept that well last night; You were too giddy from the excitement, part of you not understanding why. You knew one thing though. You needed coffee. You decided to begrudgingly get out of bed and headed over to your pour-over drip. You were the kind of person that did enjoy using appliances and electronic devices for convenience, but when it came to your coffee there was nothing that beats a pour-over cup of coffee. Sometimes, a little extra time and work to you was worth it to truly savor certain experiences. You delicately pour the boiling water over the coffee dripper, watching as the coffee grinds form into a puddle and drip slowly from the bottom and into your cup. You smelled the hints of chocolate, caramel, and sweet nut. You took the filter with the remains of the coffee grinds and threw it away after it finished, added a little bit of milk and sugar to help with the bitterness, and then finally took your first sip. It was smooth, lightly sweet, and brightened up your mood. You grabbed some fruit salad you had made the other day to eat for breakfast. You decided to enjoy some morning cartoons while sipping on your coffee and eating your fruit. You weren’t really a big breakfast person, you never had much of an appetite in the morning but still, you try to be healthy. You finish your breakfast and coffee and go to clean it up and put it away. You go to the bathroom, clean up a bit, and go to pick up an outfit. You decided you wanted to look cute, but still be comfortable as you were doing a lot of work on the house. You wore an older loose floral top and whitewashed overalls on top.
Tumblr media
You put your hair in a high ponytail to keep it out of the way while you do work. After you finished, it was time to get started on the house. You grab the supplies and equipment you bought and go to the kitchen. You had decided to try to upgrade the house to be more modern, and while you had to wait for the appliances you had ordered, you still needed to fix the piping and paint the cupboards/cabinets and drawers. You get to work on the pipes first. Luckily you had learned this skill when renting a run-down apartment in college and took care of the pipes quickly. You took the old pipes and set them aside for now, and went to grab the paint. You had concluded that you wanted the cupboards to be a light mossy green, and the drawers and cabinets to be white. It took a few coats to perfect it, but you managed to finish them. You grabbed this old custom-built table your grandmother had once used as a mini island and painted it to match. Luckily everything in the kitchen looked brand new with just a simple paint job. You checked the time. About two hours had passed by, and it was now 10 am. You knew everything would take a few days to truly dry so you left it as is and put the unneeded paint cans away, but kept the green color you had used for the cupboards. You were going to paint the outside of the house today. You headed outside and got to work. This time you used a big paint roller and bigger brushes to shed some time. You checked the time again. You had finished about half of the house at this point, and two hours had passed. You thought it would be a good time to take a break and eat something and rehydrate. You kept it simple and made yourself a sandwich since the kitchen was mostly unusable. You quickly ate and grabbed some water bottles before heading back outside to finish painting. You were determined to at least finish painting before Jin came over because you were hoping the flowers would really pop and match the house. It wasn’t for any other reason… you told yourself. You had no one to impress… you kept telling yourself. Another hour went by and you were almost finished. You rushed slightly, afraid Jin would get here before you had finished. You wipe the sweat off your forehead and raise your arm and cheer to yourself. “It’s finally finished! It looks so beautiful.” You truly felt like the house was becoming yours more and more. You put everything away quickly and head inside to cool down a bit and freshen yourself up. You decided to take a break until Jin arrives. You listen to music and draw to pass the time. You were getting really into it, as your drawing was coming out nicely. As you were putting the final touches on the drawing, you heard a car door slam. You hop up a little startled and look outside the window. Standing next to a small black car was Jin, who was reaching into the back seat, his arms full of flowers. You rush to go outside but slow once you walk outside to seem composed. You study him while waiting. He was wearing a plain white top, some dark shorts, a dark blue cap, and some plain white shoes. For anyone else, this outfit would be boring or normal, but on him, it looked quite fashionable and comfortable. You shook the thought away. Jin closes the car door with his hip and looks over towards you. “Oh, hey. Sorry if I’m a little late.” You smile and shake your head. “No, it’s completely fine. It’s not that late.” It was only 3 pm, you had plenty of time. You go to grab some of the flowers in his arms, and Jin quietly hands them over and heads to the back of his car and opens the trunk. He grabs what appears to be a bag full of equipment and some bags of fertilizer. You place the flowers on the ground over in the grass and go to help him carry the other things. Jin follows behind you. “Thanks, Y/N.” He smiles again and puts everything down. “Alright, so we have quite a lot of flowers to plant so we should get started.” You roll your sleeves back and nod in understanding. “So Jin, What do you think of these areas for planting?” You point at the areas that are in the front of the house but on the sides. You wanted the flowers to be visible and for them to bring out the beauty of the cottage. Jin nods. “Yes, I think these are the best spots for them. Would you be okay with me being the one that arranges them?” You let out a sigh of relief. “Yes of course. In fact, I’m quite happy that you will.” Jin chuckles to himself and gets up to scope the scene and map out his arrangements. He discusses the plan for the flowers with you, and you start planting. You both plant side by side and start with the lily of the valley. You find it too quiet, so you decided to try talking to him, to get to know him. “So Jin… tell me about yourself.” Jin smirks to himself and responds. “Tell you what? My life story?” You giggle and roll your eyes playfully. “Sure. Whatever floats your boat. It’s better than working in silence, you know.” He scoffs and looks amused. “Well, not much to say. I’m 28… I’ve lived here for a few years now and opened my shop alone. I don’t have family here but it’s quite lively and peaceful here. I spend my day surrounded by flowers and wouldn’t have it any other way.” You can’t help but think about how cute it is that he likes flowers so much. “How did you become so interested in flowers by the way? Not that it’s weird or anything. It’s actually quite sweet.” Jin’s ears flush red in embarrassment, but he has a calm exterior. “Well… I’ve always liked them since I was young, honestly. I do find them quite beautiful and delicate, but I think what really got me was the meanings behind them and the joy they bring to people. Flowers are more symbolic than people really think. They’re used for love, celebration, thankfulness, and even death. In a way, they kind of follow you throughout the steps of your life. It’s something so simple but means a lot at the same time. Maybe that seems lame.” You shake your head and look him in the eye. “Not at all. I never thought about it that way. That’s amazing. Just like the story you told me, flowers really can be so meaningful. It’s a shame most people don’t know more about it.” Jin smiles brightly, in excitement. “I’m glad you feel the same. I don’t normally talk about this stuff with anyone so it feels nice to know someone can understand how I feel.” You both had done a complete row of flowers and were ready to start on the next row. You wiped some of the dirt from your arms and hand Jin one of the water bottles you had brought out earlier. “Thanks.” He took the bottle and started sipping it. You stretch and look back down at him. “So besides flowers, what other hobbies or interests do you have?” Jin pondered a second before responding back with, “Well, I enjoy cooking, traveling, playing games, watching comedy, singing, playing the guitar… many things. I’m usually trying out new things.” You hummed and suddenly felt excited. “Oh wow, we are very similar. I like to do most of those things, I just can’t play guitar.” Jin had just finished his side of the flowers and stood up to dust off his shorts. “Oh really? I should teach you to play it sometime.” You blushed a little, at the mention of spending time together again. “Yeah sure. You could come anytime. I’d be fine with anything.” Jin smiled at you again, your heart started thumping a little quicker than usual. “Actually, before that, I don’t know if you’ve seen the carnival they have here but I haven’t felt comfortable going alone so maybe we could go together? I don’t really know many people here.” Your mind was screaming, shouting YES YES YES. You tried to compose yourself, so you didn’t come across as excited or too enthusiastic. “Yeah, of course. I’d like to see more of the town as well.” Jin nods and bites his lip lightly. “How about… this weekend? Maybe Saturday?” You know you’re not busy and can make it, but you wanna play with him a little. “Hm… Saturday… I suppose that works. It’s a date.” You turn quickly to avoid seeing the look on his face and play it off as you picking up your water bottle to have another drink. Jin comes closer to you and reaches his hand out towards your hair. You turn around, not expecting him so close, and you swallow your water quickly and start coughing. Jin becomes startled, and then his face twists into worry. “Are you alright?” Your face flushes in embarrassment and your coughing comes to a halt. “Y-yes I’m good thanks.” You bite your lip, feeling awkward. Jin reaches out again, brushing away some dirt that somehow ended up in your hair. “I was just trying to get this off, didn’t mean to startle you.” You hum in thanks and look over at the work you two had done so far. Well, looks like there’s not much left to go. We should finish this. Jin agrees, and you two start again, finishing up the last row. You two finish and Jin sighs in content. “It’s perfect. I’m glad we managed to finish today.”
Tumblr media
He looks around and looks over towards you again. “Do you have a hose?” You make an ‘ah’ sound and run over towards the little storage shed near you. You open the door, and move through the maze of random objects in your way and grab the needed hose. You make your way back to him and hand it over. You show him where to hook it up, and he tests it. He puts it in the proper setting and makes his way to the flowers and starts to water them. You watch as he gently mists the water over the flowers, noticing the rainbow it had created and smiled. You decided you wanted to do some watering, and asked him if you could have it. He goes to hand it over, but as you go to grab it, you pressed the handle down and ended up spraying water everywhere. You scream from the coldness of the water and fling it out of your hand, and slowly glance over at Jin, feeling embarrassed. He was also soaked from the water, but you couldn't help but notice his white shirt now clinging onto his- wait are those abs? You gulp and look away quickly, trying not to get caught. You get up and start laughing. “Oh jeez.. I’m sorry. I’ll go get us some towels.” You dash off before he can say anything, and rush into the house to grab the first set of towels you can find. You grab them and head on out back to Jin. When you reach him, you hand him a towel. He takes it from your hand, and before you could react he threw the towel over your head and started trying to dry your hair. You look up at him startled. He smiles down at you reassuringly. “Just trying to dry you off quickly, I wouldn’t want you to get sick.” Your heart fluttered from the gentleness of his voice. You couldn't really deny it at this point, you liked Jin. You weren’t usually this easy to fluster, but there was something different about him. As much as you wanted to know what he was thinking, you didn’t want to ruin anything before it started and kept quiet. You took the towel you had left in your hand and stood on your tip toes and started to mirror Jin, drying his hair and then gently wrapping it around his broad shoulders when you finished. Jin cleared his throat and moved away. “I have some extra clothes in my car that I keep for emergencies, do you mind if I change?” You nod and hold your hand up at the house. “Of course, come in whenever you’re ready. The bathroom is the first door on the left. I should probably do the same.” You head inside, and start ripping apart your bedroom to find an outfit to change into quickly. You find something suitable and throw it on, before Jin comes inside. You clear everything away in record time and head back to the front of the house, just in time for Jin to come in. He walks over towards the bathroom and looks back in reassurance. You nod your head, confirming he’s correct and he goes inside. You decided to make some tea, to warm both of you up. You decided on a rose tea, thinking Jin might really like floral teas...for reasons. The smell of the tea helped to relieve the tension you didn’t realise you had been holding. You took a deep sigh and placed the teas down on the table. Jin came out of the bathroom, wearing an identical outfit as the previous one. You guessed that it was his working outfit. Jin looks over at the tea and smiles brightly. “Is that rose tea? Thanks. That will help a lot.” He sits down and starts to sip at the tea. He hums in delight. You giggle to yourself. “Jin, it's getting late, would you like to stay for dinner?” He tilts his head and thinks to himself. “I don’t mind, but could I help you cook? I like cooking but I don’t do it very often these days since it's just me.” You blink in surprise. You knew he mentioned he liked cooking earlier, but we’re still surprised. You weren't used to men cooking really, most relationships or friends you had didn’t even know how to cut an onion. “Sure, of course. Feel free to look around and decide what you’d like to make.” Jin gets up and starts to look in the fridge. He nods to himself and grabs a few items. He then moves to go to the cabinets, but you just remembered you painted, so you quickly pipe up, “Wait! Let me grab them, I forgot I just painted the cabinets. What would you like?” Jin chuckles and starts giving you the list. You grab each item as he lists them. “Honey, Corn Syrup, cornstarch, Frying Oil, sesame seeds… a big pot for frying, a sauce pan, and another pot for soup.” You set everything down on the counters, and look over to him. “Are you making YangNyeom Chicken (Korean Fried Chicken)?” Jin nods and finishes grabbing the ingredients from the fridge. He holds up some tofu. “I’m going to make some Doenjang Jjigae (Soybean Paste Stew) as well, if that’s alright. You have everything for it.” You nod in excitement. It’s been a long time since you’ve had them homemade... since your grandmother passed away. Jin motions for a cutting board and knife, and you grab each of you a set, and some bowls (both big and small) for mixing, and anything else you might need. You both start to get to work, and you follow behind Jin, not wanting to get in his way. You decided to start the rice first, so it would be finished in time. Jin starts cutting all the vegetables to have them prepared ahead of time. You start the oil, to have it ready for later, and then start to cut the chicken to bite sized pieces. You mix up the cornstarch and water mixture, and coat the chicken. Jin finishes cutting the vegetables, and goes to start the soup. He puts everything in, and starts heating it up. He goes to make the sauce, and uses gochujang, corn syrup, ketchup, a little honey, and more to make the sauce. He takes a spoon and dips it in to taste it. He nods in approval. “Chicken can go now.” He watches the stew, and occasionally taste tests and adds things in. You start to fry the chicken, and wait for it to get a solid crust and take it out to rest a little, and then fry them all again. This time you waited for them to turn golden brown and you finally finished frying them. Jin quickly tosses them in the sauce, and adds sesame seeds on top. You grabbed dishes for the food, and started to plate everything. You also grabbed some kimchi. You both set the table up, and smile at each other. “Let’s eat.” You motioned for Jin to sit, and he did. You grabbed some water for you both to drink and finally sat down to eat. You both start to dig in. Jin moans in happiness. “This is so good. Sometimes I surprise myself with how good I am with cooking.” He shakes his head in disbelief and you laugh. “You’re right, it’s great. You have some nice confidence.” You keep eating, and sip at the soup. Everything was perfect. You listened to the sounds of Jin in bliss, enjoying his food and couldn’t help but find it super cute. You couldn’t believe a man like him was sitting in your kitchen and eating with you. You both finish eating, and Jin gets up and heads over to the dishes. You rush over and try stopping him. “You don’t have to do that!” Jin smiles and grabs a sponge despite your protests. “Let’s do them together. I wash, you dry. I don't want to leave you with everything.” You purse your lips and just grab a dish towel in compliance. You glance at him every so often, noticing different features of his everytime and admiring them. He has such long eyelashes, you envied him. His eyes were a beautiful brown; they were a dark chocolate brown in the dark but in the light they were almost a milk chocolate. His lips… you couldn’t even go there. You suddenly felt shy and focused on drying the dishes. You both finished, and Jin looked at the time. “I should definitely get going. I had fun though, and thank you for dinner.” You waved your hand, replying with, “Oh not at all! I had fun too. Please be safe on the way home!” Jin grabs his phone from his pocket, and hands it towards you. “Can I have your number just in case?” You try to hide your smile as you grab it and punch in your number. “Alright, here you go.” Jin puts it away, and goes towards the door to leave. You follow, to see him out and he suddenly says, “Ah.... and Y/N…!” He turns to face you, a little closer than you expected. He smirks in a playful way and whispers softly, “Don’t forget our date this Saturday. I’ll come pick you up. I’ll text you when.” And with that, he leaves you standing there a blushing mess. After you watch him leave, you go to your bed and start squealing into your pillow. Your heart was a mess, and you didn’t know how to handle it. The date couldn’t come quicker for you.

Tea or Coffee? (P5 Akira x Reader)
Word Count: 1547 words
Fluff!
Tumblr media
“Akira, Tea or Coffee?”
Seated in the booth, Akira looked up from his study notes and glanced over at the counter to see you standing behind it with an apron on, untied.
You rested your arms on the counter and smiled at your boyfriend. “I thought making some drinks would give us that boost of energy we needed to finish our study session. So, what do you want?” You glanced over your shoulder and stared at the wooden shelves, eyeing the wide variety of coffee beans Sojiro has. It’s amazing how the man memorizes all these beans and brews coffee out of them perfectly.
“If it’s coffee, I’ll do my best to brew you a good cup.” Truth be told, you didn’t dare to touch any of them. It felt as if Sojiro would know if someone else other than Akira and Futaba had moved his stuff around. While you were busy, Akira slid out of the booth and joined you behind the counter, grabbing a hold of your apron’s ties and tied them into a knot for you. “Thanks, Akira!”
Standing on your tiptoes, you pressed a chaste kiss on to his cheek, enticing a soft smile to appear on his lips. “Coffee will do for me,” He pulled away from you to get his apron. “You should go back to studying. I can prepare a cup of coffee for you too.” It was a sweet offer from him, but you wanted to decline as you were craving for a good cup of tea. As Akira opened the cabinets to pull out the coffee brewing equipment, you kneeled alongside him.
“Does Sojiro have a bag or a jar of tea leaves anywhere?” Akira let out a hum of thought as he dug deeper into the cabinet and pulled out a sealed brown bag of Ceylon Tea leaves.
“Here.” Your face brightened at the sight of the bag and took it from him to check the brewing instructions. “He doesn’t serve tea often here at the cafe, so he keeps them under the counter. I don’t think he’d mind if you used it.” That was all you needed to hear as you began searching for a teapot or a tea press.
While you searched, he left the counter and headed to the back of the cafe to prepare a kettle of boiling water. Learning under Sojiro, Akira was confident he could make an amazing cup of coffee and would tempt you to take a sip once he finished. As he waited for the water to boil, he measured out the coffee beans he would need to use and placed them into a grinder.
After a few minutes, you found a French press that would be perfect for making tea and got back on your feet just in time to see Akira coming to a stop on grinding the beans. The grounded beans were coarse and would produce a better flavor and less bitterness. “Huh, is making coffee this easy? You could have let me make you a cup of coffee.” You said, a pout clear on your lips.
A small chuckle escapes his lips as he turned around to face you, a devious glint in his eyes. “I make my coffee with a lot of love. There’s no way you can ever recreate that unique flavor.” He retaliated with a smirk on his lips. Sojiro taught him how to make coffee flawlessly, he will not let those lessons go to waste; Especially not now.
You raised an eyebrow at his words, “Then why not we make a bet? Whoever makes the best drink has to make the loser’s lunch for a week.” You made the offer as tempting as you can. What’s not good about a homemade meal? You had a confident smile on as you walked past him, gently bumping him in the side with your hip as you did, “Deal?”
“You’re on.” Just as Akira said that, the kettle whistled. That was the signal that it has reached its boiling point. “Ladies first?” You rolled your eyes playfully at his words and went to turn off the stove before picking up the kettle by its handle.
“How gentlemanly of you,” You teased. Placing the kettle down carefully on a cork coaster, you began your preparations. You poured boiling water into the press and made sure it’s primed enough to maintain its heat. Dumping the water into a spare cup, you scooped in two spoonfuls of Black Tea leaves and poured more boiling water into it to let the leaves steep.
While you were preparing your tea, Akira began his preparations. Placing a paper filter in a dripper, he too poured water into it to wash out the paper taste before adding in the coarse coffee grinds. Putting the dripper over his prepared coffee pot, he took the kettle from you once you finished and drizzled water in, using a teaspoon to stir up the beans occasionally.
You watched with interest over how he made the coffee. It took a lot of patience, especially with how slowly it dripped down into the pot. Your eyes drifted from his hands up to his face, a small smile creeping on to your lips. You probably looked like a creep, but you couldn’t care less. The concentration he held in his dark gray eyes, the warm smile he had, his glasses that rest at the bridge of his nose, and the relaxed expression on his face. You loved them all.
You snapped out of your staring when Akira glanced to the side and made accidental eye contact with you, making you look back at the French Press. “Saw something you like?” He teased you as he watched the tips of your ears turn red.
“Be quiet…”
By the time the coffee pot is a quarter-filled, you had pushed on the press to push the leaves down to the bottom and held it out for Akira to see. “I’m done. Maybe we can drink some tea while we wait for your coffee to finish?” You offered to him as you poured the liquid into two cups.
The aroma of the tea was strong, but it wasn’t enough to rival the coffee Akira was making. When the cup of tea was in his hands, you couldn’t help but feel nervous. What if it tastes bitter to him? What if it doesn’t suit his tastes?
He seemed to notice you staring intensely at him as he slowly raised the cup to his lips. “I’m sure it’ll taste fine, relax a bit.” He reassured you before taking in the tea’s aroma. It was a delicate scent compared to the powerful scent of coffee that constantly invades the cafe. After taking a sip, he let out a relaxed sigh and set the cup down. “It tastes amazing. You can even pick up notes of citrus.”
Akira’s praises made your worries melt away as you sip from your cup of tea. “I’m glad you like it, Akira. The grade of tea leaves that Sojiro bought is amazing.” Usually, the tea leaves you bought were weak. Nothing compared to the tea you’re drinking now. “Hopefully it beats the coffee you’re making.”
“Oh, I doubt that,” Akira said confidently as he checked the dripper and set the cup of tea aside. “If I lose, don’t tell Sojiro. He’ll never let me live it down for as long as I stay here.” The wink he sent your way made you let out a giggle.
Quickly finishing up your tea, you watched as Akira poured the finished coffee into fresh cups and slid it towards you. “Enjoy.” Now, it was his turn to stare at you. But instead of looking worried, he looked at you expectantly; As if waiting for your good praise.
Maintaining eye contact, you took a wary sip of the coffee. Instead of the usual bitter taste you get from the standard cafes, this taste left you wanting more. It was a unique flavor profile. Akira could hear a satisfied hum from you as you took another sip before placing the cup back down on the counter. He stared at you in adoration and had a proud smile on, “What’s the verdict?”
“… The coffee is the clear winner.” You admitted with a sigh. Although you had to wake up earlier to prepare a second lunchbox, it was worth it after tasting this coffee. “I should have known better than to challenge you to something like this.”
You and Akira shared a laugh before you moved your respective drinks over to the booth while Akira cleaned up the equipment you both used. When you came to his side to wash your hands, he spoke up. “Do you want a consolation prize?” Curious, you looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“What could you possibly give me? Your copy of homework?”
“Something better,” As quick as you could blink, Akira leaned in and pressed his lips against yours; The taste of the tea you made lingering on his lips. Pulling away, you were as red as Arsene’s coat while Akira licked his lips and said something that made you jab him in the side. “I can see why I’m the winner now. My coffee tastes amazing- OW.”

Cold brew coffee chemistry
Tumblr media
Niny Rao and colleagues from Thomas Jefferson University have been studying the chemical composition of cold brew coffee, a subject very near and dear to my heart. They just posted a "virtual poster session" at the American Chemical Society's site. https://www.morressier.com/article/role-roast-chemical-characteristics-cold-brew-coffee/5e736c70cde2b641284abdff? They tested roasts of varying darkness, and found that with darker roasts, there were significant differences in the solids extracted with and without heat.
Tumblr media
They conclude that cold brew improves when brewed at room temp (not in the fridge). https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/04/the-chemistry-of-cold-brew-coffee-is-so-hot-right-now/ They also advise multiple rounds of filtering (through multiple layers of filter) to remove unwanted solids and halt the extraction process, and a ten hour (e.g. overnight) extraction. I'm going to try it. I've tinkered with lots of ways of making cold brew, including some expensive (and beautiful - love my Kyoto dripper) apparatus, but ultimately went back to the easy, low-mess "grinds in a mesh bag, bag in a water jug, wait, squeeze, discard" method.

[Translation] Takamura Coffee Special Drama “Having Fun Going the Extra Mile” Track 3
Tumblr media
Here’s the last track from this drama CD. Thanks to this my youtube timeline will be filled with drip coffee tutorials... probably for a long time. Many thanks to Ryota for proofing this for me.
As for the SolidS drama CDs, I’ll try to work on them. Honestly it’s rather difficult handling both university and translations at the same time right now, this term having some complicated subjects prepared for me. I was thinking of going into hiatus for the rest of the term after I’m done with those two CDs.
Anyway, please don’t repost/retranslate/reuse my translations. Likes and reblogs are appreciated.
Track 1: It’s time for a coffee break.
Track 2: Could you take my order?
Track 3: On the eighth day, God created coffee.
Track 3: On the eighth day, God created coffee.
Dai: The water is boiling.
Shiki: Alright. Then, shall we start? First, pour hot water through the dripper into the server. Pour it as gently as possible.
Dai: What about the coffee beans?
Shiki: Before that, we’ll be pre-heating the machine. That way we’re making sure the coffee’s temperature won’t drop after being poured.
-water is being poured-
Shiki: Next, take the filter and set it on the dripper. We can now take the coffee you bought earlier and put… yeah, I think around 20g is enough for the two of us. Make sure to measure it properly.
Dai: Okay
-puts coffee over the filter-
Shiki: After being roasted, beans must be left alone for 2 to 3 days. They start releasing gas right after the process.
Dai: Eeh?
Shiki: That’s why if you want to drink coffee as soon as you buy it, it’s better to buy a pre-roasted package from the shop. Put some pressure on the corners so they're as flat as possible on the dripper.
-Dai flattens the ground coffee-
Shiki: Yeah, like that. When you’re done, throw away the hot water from the server.
Dai: Many of the steps are done in so much detail. I have to remember them until the event.
Shiki: Well, you can always have a look at your notes during your performance.
Dai: That could work. Though it'd be obvious from the way my hands are shaking that I’m not too familiar with these, so I’ll just say that you taught me.
Shiki: You can simply tell them honestly that your job happened to pick my interest. That sounds more like something you’d say. I’ll show you how to do the drip this time.
-picks kettle-
Shiki: You begin by pouring water over the ground coffee, and then you let it moisturize for around 30 seconds.
-Shiki pours water-
Dai: Oh, it expanded. Is this what you meant earlier when you said gas would be released?
Shiki: Yeah. The gas prevents the water from passing through, so it needs to be released before the actual process. After you’re done with the dripping, you should repeat pouring hot water for about three more times. Make sure that you do it in circles so that it won’t affect one part of the filter only.
-more water is poured-
Shiki: After you pour it the first time, it’s a good idea to start decreasing the amount of water you pour on the second and then third time.
Dai: When I watch you doing this it seems easy, but when I actually get the chance to do this myself, I have the feeling it would turn out to be difficult.
Shiki: You could say that. It may look difficult, but there are also some interesting parts to it. The way you pour water can sometimes change the taste.
Dai: Too many complicated things affect the taste...
Shiki: Hmpf. That’s what makes it interesting. Lastly, remove the dripper before all the hot water is drained. This is also so the taste doesn’t get too affected. That’s all.
Dai: It smells nice.
Shiki: I hope it tastes the way you like it. By the way, from my own biases and choices, I know coffees tend to go well with snacks like this. I happened to see it when I was buying coffee at the shop and decided to take it. Some cheesecake with that puffy thing on top.
Dai: Puffy? Ah, you mean soufflé.
Shiki: That’s what they call it?
Dai: The bag did seem strangely too big. So that’s what you bought…
Shiki: You like sweet things, right? I thought maybe having something like this would boost your motivation to study.
Dai: You’re treating me like I’m a brat.
Shiki: You’re still the youngest among us.
Dai: Shiki. You’re definitely having fun right now.
Shiki: That’s not a bad thing, right? Now’s the time to treat ourselves. Let’s taste the coffee before it gets cold.
Dai: Ah, wait a sec. Where did I put my phone?
Shiki: What’s up all of a sudden?
Dai: This. I thought of taking a picture of the coffee.
Shiki: That’s a strange thing for you to do.
Dai: I want to send this to Tsubasa and tell him you’re giving me a treat.
Shiki: That will earn me some complaints from him. Fine, then I’ll send a picture to Rikka too.
Dai: Why to Rikka?
Shiki: If I told him that I showed you how to make drip coffee tonight, he’s most likely to buy something sweet for us on his way back.
Dai: Ah, that will make Tsubasa shut up.
Shiki: Correct. We have to go the extra mile to enjoy the coffee properly.
Both: -laugh-

Drawdown speed
Drawdown speed I just got a new bag of natural processed beans and the drawdown time is 1/3 faster than the beans I had before (with the same water temp, grind size, dripper etc). Is it normal? Should I try something to slow it down? Submitted March 28, 2023 at 06:32AM by Davidyz_hz https://ift.tt/qMCQfBl via /r/Coffee
