In the scenario of Bruce arriving after some years, could you expand more about the good and bad scenario? Also, in the bad scenario what would Tim and Jason do. Would they pick a side?
I've linked the post to this ask for anyone new to it! For those who don't want to click on it, the concept is what would happen if, because Tim never found the portrait or something, Bruce safely spent a bit more time away in the timestream?
Regardless, I'd be happy to expand on it a bit more! There's a multitude of ways that Bruce could react to all of this, and it really depends on how someone hcs Bruce (canon has various versions of him). Feel free to choose whatever route you think is best.
So, when Bruce comes back after a few years, the family would have learned how to operate without him. He's simply not needed. He's wanted, he's loved, but he's used to being the center of the family. He's used to being the patriarch and deciding factor. He's used to calling the final shots.
When he comes back, Tim and Damian don't need him. By that point, Tim would be a legal adult almost in his twenties. Damian is used to deferring to Dick and Alfred for parenting and rules. Tim and Bruce would get into many arguments if Bruce tried to parent and restrict Tim. It would be similar to the 17 year-old Dick and Bruce, but Bruce hasn't been there the past few years (intentionally or not).
Damian and Bruce wouldn't know how to interact. Regardless of how close they were before Bruce "died," Damian has changed a lot. He's grown to accept that he doesn't need to prove himself, he doesn't need to uphold legacies, his place in the family is permanent (not based on good behavior, work, or blood), and he's loved. Despite that, Bruce coming back might dreg up those insecurities (especially depending on how Bruce treats the adoption).
In a good light, Bruce works with everyone. He spends time relearning his children, finding where they might have new boundaries, having many discussions on his role in their life, and assisting them with what they need. He doesn't enforce his expectations on them and maybe even seeks out family counseling. He would understand that time changes things and that the relationships the others have built were to support each other. As long as no unhealthy or negative relationships had developed (like codependency), then he should respect these changes and work with them to accommodate his sudden reappearance in their life. A good situation would be Bruce's appearance shaking the boat but overall making the family stronger with his connection to it.
Now... a bad scenario depends on a lot of factors and is, in my opinion, a more likely outcome. With this, we're gonna be using the more abusive comics!Bruce version.
Bruce, in this turn of events, would try to separate and damage the bond between Damian and Dick. He could do that in a multitude of ways, including emotional manipulation, emotional abuse, legal actions (anulling the adoption, restraining orders, etc.), physically separating their living situations, and assigning Dick long and distant missions. If Bruce was feeling particularly vindictive, he could punish Dick in various ways. There's subtle alienation, physical retaliation, grueling work loads, verbal abuse, etc.
This would probably be Bruce's main focus. He would also probably have issues with how the other Bats are running Gotham and how they now don't rely on him.
The way the rest of the bad scenario pans out depends on how Tim and Jason interacted up until Bruce arrived. In the other post, I mentioned that the two would either ignore/avoid each other or become close/teammates.
If they ignored each other, it would be easier for Bruce to exert control over them both. They are more independent, less supported, and less likely to reach out for help. He would have an easier time manipulating them while they are in Gotham. They would fight back, obviously, but they wouldn't have someone helping them. This could either be their downfall as they get sucked into a cycle of abuse with Bruce, or this could push them to rely on their siblings/the other Bats.
If Jason and Tim were closer or even became a team together, Bruce would be hard pressed to get them to fold. It's extremely dreadful and tiresome fighting against verbal/emotional abuse. You start to doubt yourself, your feelings, the events that occurred, your recollection, and whether you were justified. By the two of them working together, they can combat this approach by Bruce. Tim could collect evidence for whatever occurred and keep records. Jason could ensure that they met their emotional needs and enforced their boundaries. Manipulating someone alone, especially the two of them who are on the outskirts, would be easier than a team who supports each other.
Anyways, whether Tim and Jason take Bruce's side of Dick's really depends on their relationship with each other. They would support Dick, no matter their current grievances towards the man, if Tim and Jason were a vigilante team and like brothers to each other.
Also, an important note about the bad scenario is that it wouldn't play out immediately. There would be this relief and happiness that Bruce is home as he slowly tests out the boundaries until he manipulates the situation to his benefit.
Now, we could get into the other Bats too. Alfred might be on Team Bruce regardless. That would suck but it does fall in line with some of his bystander and enabler ways. Bruce has no control over Barbara, and they both know it. I like to imagine she would protect Steph and Cass to the best of her ability. She would give aid to the batboys, but she wouldn't be able to protect them as much. Cass is a toss-up on whether she would be able to protect herself against emotional manipulation by Bruce.
I'm hoping Duke is happy with his parents if this is the bad scenario. If he isn't, there could be tension because Duke didn't become a vigilante under Bruce's approval. Therefore, there would be a meta vigilante in Gotham that Bruce didn't approve of.
If this is the good scenario, dealer's choice on whether Duke's parents are fine while Duke becomes Signal prior to Bruce's return. He could be an independent vigilante the Bats provide support for without sucking him into the family.
Let me know if you want any more info, want more explanation, or you think it could go a different way!

there's nothing inherently wrong or unhealthy with a platonic relationship being the most intimate and important in someone's life (whether that person is also in a romantic relationship or not). this has been said before but people still treat it like its true. ESPECIALLY that a prioritized platonic relationship belies “codependency” even though no one would bat an eye at the exact same dynamic if it were romantic, because of the idea that a prioritized platonic relationship is somehow immature/unhealthy and something to grow out of/move on from.
the idea that the twins just go, well, you've been the person i felt safest loving and trusting in my entire life, our souls have been bound by fate and magic and our love for one another is one of the strongest bonds in the multiverse, transcending death and unimaginable loss, the motivation behind everything we’ve ever done, but since we're both in romantic relationships now and the story is over, the reasonable and in-character thing to do would be to split up and have separate nuclear families because that's the "healthy thing" (read: expected thing). there's no other form of a domestic happy ending than a marriage and typical nuclear family. you're everything to me, my entire world, my heart, see you later.
ok this got too long i'm putting it under a readmore.
(also why i don't really like the idea that taako adopts angus. "parent" is not the only important, loving role an adult can play in a child's life but people feel that need to shove everything into a nuclear family. also taako has too much going on to be the good parent that angus needs anyway. and magnus and lucretia are right there. but this is another post <- this is actually a fan fiction i’m writing, kind of)
i just find that frankly silly. i truly believe that the twins live together for the rest of their lives and are always each others' most important person (before anyone kills me i do think barry is there too. they also both love him so much. capacity for love INCREASES there’s no need for a replacement or a “moving on” it’s an addition). there's not any reason they wouldn't live together other than that it’s not “normal?” but why would they give a shit about that. their prioritization of one another isn't the unhealthy thing about their relationship. they do have other stuff going on that's actually codependent, but i think they eventually work past it and come to have a healthier (yet no less close) relationship. actually this post was originally just supposed to be about those codependent tendencies but i felt like i needed to compensate by clarifying that there are only a very specific few things abt their dynamic i find unhealthy and that by and large they’re fine, actually.
the main thing is, as is so succinctly put in this post—they aren't able to communicate about big, important decisions. not to say they never communicate about anything, i think they actually do communicate effectively about a lot of things—warning i’m going into a complete tangent here—i see a lot an idea that they’re not siblings who hug or really verbalize affection at all which is crazy to me (<- personal opinion alert) like they’re closed off and distrusting (taako more than lup, but she’s certainly not exempt from their trauma) to other people and the world at large but they have always always been each other’s exception, each other’s utmost safe place, the one person they could be absolutely comfortable around, who they never have to be afraid of. that’s one of the things i find so compelling about them, that they trust each other with their entire selves. they have no reason to ever feel defensive around each other. oh to be known so entirely and intimately and never feel ashamed or afraid of judgement or abandonment. augh. so i do think they hug.
also—i don't think they "don't know how to be a person without each other" like that's certainly not true for lup and i don't really think it's true for taako either. they have their own distinct personalities and identities they just also both inform each others’ lives. they're an integral part of each other's identity the way your family or best friend or partner or most important person in your life is but again i think that's fine.
but back to the topic at hand anyway they DO hide their misgivings from each other when it comes to huge shit with world-changing, life-threatening consequences lol. when it comes to, like, turning herself into a lich, or leaving to recover her dangerous magical artifact, lup feels like she needs to be entirely decisive and confident for taako, and when it comes to his sister turning herself into a lich, or proposing a dangerous magical artifact plan, taako feels like he needs to be unflinchingly supportive and loyal for lup. and those both backfire obviously. because they trust each other so completely that they don't trust each other enough to not trust each other. weird paradox.
but really its not a lack of trust in each other its their own insecurities projected onto each other. lup second guesses herself but feels like she can’t express that uncertainty so she’s alone with her doubts which increases the pressure and stress and creates a feedback loop that only makes her more insecure. and taako feels like he doesn’t have anything to bring to the table other than backing up lup and is afraid doubting her would hurt her which means he never has an opportunity to find out he does actually have good ideas and that lup would listen to him constructively. but it manifests in lup “not trusting taako” to have her back even if she doubts herself and taako “not trusting lup” to take criticism even if his idea is good.
and honestly i think the solution to this just comes with… not being in those lifethreatening situations anymore. the universe was saved and they have normal (magical fantasy world) lives. so now when they’re hiding things from each other the stakes are a lot lower. and when the stakes are lower they’re able to express uncertainty because they don’t feel that extreme and terrifying pressure anymore. lup doesn’t have to make impossible decisions and stick to them despite any doubt because she doesn’t have the survival of entire worlds on her back anymore. taako doesn’t have to always agree with lup and uncritically support her every choice because he’s not the only thing holding her together from oblivion anymore. so they're able to express doubts and nothing falls apart and they're actually stronger for it. and they’re already doing so much work on fixing their relationship just from being separated and kinda grieving for a decade too, so they eventually work past that.
and also because they have to face those insecurities and their consequences. lup got trapped in umbrella limbo for a decade and taako had his life destroyed. if lup had been able to overcome her need to put everything on her shoulders and expressed uncertainty, if taako had been able to overcome his blind loyalty and expressed doubt, would they have gone through with the relics? would they have even gone through with the lich plan? they realize only afterward that they should’ve talked about it, and so they learn from their mistakes.
another tangent—isn’t it so crazy how, by any standard, lup should be the strongwilled, passionate, heroic protagonist and taako her cynical, pragmatic, yet loyal sidekick? and yet he’s the protagonist and she the supporting character in the actual narrative? so subversive and intriguing. i cant believe this was all masterfully and purposefully written. anyway. (<- in the in-universe metanarrative version of the story, lup [and honestly, probably davenport] is the tragic ghost who haunts the narrative and lucretia & barry are the morally gray protagonist foils, and tres horny boys are supporting characters/comic relief who go on to have their own semi-important b-plot arcs that ultimately serve to further the protagonists’ arcs. btw.)
back to the twins. i also think they don't only grow post-canon, i think they grow a LOT during the century, because in the beginning, they're coming from a life where they have been not only the most important people in each other's lives, but the ONLY people in each other's lives. and now they're suddenly faced with more people, which they handle fine individually, more or less—lup is faster to warm up to the others, but even though taako's attitude is very much that he only cares about him and his, he is capable of expanding the people who are "his" (eventually). but they've never had to bring other people into their dynamic with each other before.
i don't think either of them are possessive, their relationship is built on deepest mutual respect and love and trust and "possessiveness" is kinda antithetical to that, but they can both be jealous on occasion. although there is a difference—lup is the only one who will outwardly display jealousy (and maybe a better word than jealousy would be insecurity), again because of the dynamic earlier: taako must always support whatever decisions lup makes without question. so when taako dies one cycle and all of a sudden merle and magnus and everyone else grieve him too, lup feels a sense of ownership over grief (not over taako himself, but over loving taako, just because no one else ever really has before, and she’s never had to think about the possibility that he might love other people too) that she initially may not challenge but does eventually let go of, because it's actually a good thing that other people love him now, and bringing new people into their family doesn’t make their love for each other any less. and taako has a similar experience but tbh i think its a little easier for him bc, like, who wouldn’t love lup, and lup loves other people way more freely than taako does (still not super freely, its a low bar). not that lup thinks taako is unloveable OBVIOUSLY (taako does think he’s unloveable tho) i just think they have different attitudes abt it, like they both have the moments of “but you don’t love them as much as i do!!” which is true, no one loves them as much as they do, but taako’s more willing to let that shit go bc he just doesn’t care as much what the others do as long as they don’t fuckin bother him about it. like lup sees the others equate (as she sees it, but oc they’re not actually grieving At Her) their (comparatively shallow) grief to her world-shattering loss of her best friend, only family, soulmate, silly rabbit, and she gets angry about it, but taako’s reaction is more like, “ok they’re stupid. who cares.” meanwhile and more importantly, all of a sudden lup is falling in love with barry, but taako's not one to throw a fit or demand that he's the only one who can love lup nor the only one lup can love. she’s made her decision. he just gives barry advice and lets it quietly hurt and draws distant, because he has a deep seated fear of abandonment that is now, for the first time, clashing with his unshakable trust in lup. and their relationship irrevocably changes but maybe not for the worse, because taako has, for the first time, doubted lup, a disruption to their typical (codependent) dynamic. but, of course, in the end his fears are unfounded and lup pulls him back in, because their capacity for love increases—of course lup still loves him just as much and yknow what, so does barry, and so does the rest of the crew. so he doubts and fears and is proven wrong. and so they grow and change, and their world increases from two to seven.
but that doubt doesn’t really go away for a long time, exacerbated and strained the more lup keeps secrets (especially with barry) until it reaches a head when lup finally doubts taako and does truly abandon him. but again, of course, never on purpose and never forever, they find their way back to each other despite everything and, again, come away stronger for it. the idea that the twins’ relationship is never as close again after story and song is so fucking tragic and heartrending but really i just think its unrealistic. because the rift between them is what caused their pain in the first place, of course they wouldn’t just shrug and move on. they would do anything for each other, including a lot of difficult emotional work and healing. for a little while they do have to deal with the reality that they’re not as close as they were. but they can be again. it just takes time and effort.
but anyway just to drive my point home—we mostly see taako's side of it since he is the protagonist in the real world narrative, but lup is always, always positioned within that narrative as his most important person. (and even then, lup says as much for taako! she loves barry of course but she loves taako so much he’s her heart!!) when thb see their lives after the hunger in paloma's prophecy, taako sees himself cooking with lup. she's textually representative of healing and joy in his future, and she's the main character present in his epilogue too. she's his greatest loss and his greatest love, positioned in exactly the same place as julia and merle's kids. there are a myriad of love stories going on in balance and a myriad of love stories involving taako that are all beautiful and significant in their own right but i really do think the main one in his life is lup!!
well all that to say they’re my favorite little critters ever and i’m studying them under a microscope forever. how do you end posts

Before reading this bare in mind I am terrible at analyzing characters soo. okay also like while both Kenji and Asami could be said to be similar with the fact the both at relatively? idk Kenji’s age is, young ages inherited immense amounts of power and responsibility that also coincides with a legacy of continuing what their parents did. AND I just remembered both their mothers are dead. Anyways the difference is that Kenji eventually is able to reconnect with his father and presumably reform a positive relationship. His main? problem was his father’s distance and absence. Asami’s relationship with her father is much more rocky (I will do my best trust). She lost her mother at a young age, unlike Kenji who had his mother’s support, and no other supports really mentioned besides her father. She is in a codependent, abusive relationship and seems to also take on the form of a pseudo caretaker. (I’m not explaining this well, there’s better stuff about what I’m trying to get at) Also there’s the whole……Hiroshi tried to kill Asami. They also both struggle to deal with the responsibility at first but later adapted. Anyways meaning while they could hypothetically bond over daddy issues Kenji was eventually able to reconcile, Asami will also never have the chance due to Hiroshi being dead. Also would Asami want to rekindle their relationship? Kenji is a loser with no friends (affectionate) besides Mina. Asami making new relationships and forming a support net outside of him and establishing her personhood is important. What both of them need and ultimately how their acts culminate are different. I kinda waver back in forth but I feel when you get down to it they are very different characters. Anyways Asami getting adopted by Professor Sato (idk what his name is) and having a fun time with all the new tech.

relationship chart for my main characters (didn't include Qeeo cause she's vibing on her own with her hubbie and their space dog).
long explanation coming so it's below the cut.
Nuri and Mai - are Master and Padawan (until Nuri was knighted). They got off on a rocky start - Mai was very cold and emotionless and Nuri had trust issues regarding people trying to tell her how to control her powers or what to do with them. However, after they crash landed on a planet and had to work together to survive, they gained a real respect for each other. Which eventually grew into mutual familial love. They just loved each other so fucking much. And then Mai sacrificed herself on Ziost so Nuri could escape and that scarred Nuri for years yay! Mai and Leiko - very much a 'let's adopt this wet dog' vibes. Leiko has a complicated relationship with his parents and with mentor figures in general, but Mai proved she wasn't like the others. Leiko really looked up to her and Mai loved him like he was her own.
Leiko and Rin - GOD. Okay. They're twins, they grew up together, trauma-bonded a shit ton, protected each other, had a very co-dependent relationship. And then Leiko got brainwashed and was ordered to kill Rin to get rid of his weakness. Leiko did nearly kill her, attacking her in the middle of the night, but he resisted the brainwashing long enough for her to fight back. Rin didn't know he was brainwashed so she just thought that her sibling had been her enemy this whole time. Long story short, Leiko escaped, joined the Jedi, got rid of his brainwashing, while Rin did her own thing in the Empire, heartbroken and lost. Rin found out about Leiko joining the Order and decided to hunt him down and make him pay. They fought, Rin nearly killed Leiko but then she found out he was brainwashed and 'forgave' him. I use that word sparingly cause she was still pissed but she realised it wasn't his fault. Eventually, they repair their relationship in full, but because they were apart for so long, they're not nearly as codependent and have actually become more mature people because of it.
Rin and Varn'ya - they are the guard/protectee trope. Just, so much fucking devotion. They love each other. They're gay. Enough said.
Varn'ya and Nuri - They're chill.
Nuri and Natila - They're also chill, but have the added thing of their shared love for Mai and eventually, their shared grief. They care about each other a lot and definitely needed each other after Mai's death.
Mai and Natila - Tragic sapphics, childhood friends to lovers to not speaking to hesitant allies to lovers to one of you died. You guys know the drill. They hurt me.
Nuri and Leiko - star crossed lovers! Accidentally forged a Force bond during their first fight, then Leiko escaped to the Jedi after nearly killing Rin and they became friends. And eventually lovers. Battle couple, I would kill for you, I would live for you vibes.
Rin and Nuri - Complicated. Rin didn't know the full picture of Leiko's brainwashing, etc, so she thought Nuri somehow tricked Leiko or did something to him to bring him over to the Order. Rin pretty much hated Nuri for a while there. But THEN, she saw a recording of Nuri and Leiko on a mission together and saw how much Leiko clearly cared for Nuri. Later, Nuri got captured by the Sith and was tortured. Rin found out and helped her escape, out of love for her sibling. They respect each other and eventually become friends.
Mai and Rin - their first interaction was a deadly lightsaber fight where Mai ended up cutting off Rin's arms, so their relationship didn't get off to a good start. They don't particularly like each other, but they have basic respect.
Natila and Leiko - they don't interact much, but they vibe.
Leiko and Varn'ya - enby/enby hostility. Varn'ya doesn't like Leiko for how he treated Rin (intentionally or no).

no way is that NEPTUNE JONES..they’re a 36-year-old SYNTH notoriously known for being CODEPENDENT & DISTURBED but there are some people who have seen them being FAMILY-ORIENTED & OPEN-MINDED. if you ask me, they remind me a lot of clothing speckled in paint stains, metallic fence under your fingers, and blasting music late at night, but that could just be because they’re considered the TECHNICAL PACIFIST around town. just keep an eye on them  &  see if their true colors shine through..

NAME: Neptune Lane Jones NICKNAMES: Po, Poseidon, Broseidon DATE OF BIRTH: October 14th (36) HEIGHT: 5'11 AFFILIATION: Citizen Uprising OCCUPATION: Private Investigator at Jones and Jones Investigations FACECLAIM: Max Thieriot

❖ Neptune's parents were murdered when he was around 8 years old, after which the murdered kidnapped him. During which he was constantly reprogrammed to love his captor. There are blanks in his memory due to this, and at the time frequent parts of his body would become dead weight due to his captors lack of skills. ❖ Eventually he was rescued by police one of which adopted him. He was in therapy to work out what memories were false and which were real, due to this he still struggles with dissociating. While they were able to repair much of the damage done to his physical body, he still needs frequent check ups as his nerves occasionally shut down. Not enough to make his limbs go dead like they had, but where he stops feeling touch all together, regardless of it's pain or pleasure. ❖ He later bonded with a runaway named Clara, who eventually was also adopted by his parents. Her becoming his older sister and helping him through his therapy. ❖ Later he joined the NAVY when he was unsure what else to do for work and wanting to make his parents proud. He eventually became a NAVY seal. ❖ Once when coming home to his apartment, he found a 15 year old Karma hiding out. After letting her spend the night, he brought her home to his parents, the family fully adopting her not long after. ❖ Neptune is incredibly protective of both his sisters, idolizing Clara and seeing Karma is his person. Which is why once he finished his service he joined the investigation agency wanting to support his older sister.

• Actively dislikes going to the doctor and strangers touching him, however he's very affectionate with people he considers to be his people. • Currently has two tattoos, one on his left arm of a chameleon in multiple colors when Karma couldn't pick one. On his right arm is an arrow that tapers off into flames for his other sister Clara.

Backstory and further information under the cut (and bonus Changelog!)
Lavinia murders Grelod the kind upon learning of the abuse the children there are subject to, both for Aventus and out of guilt for not realizing sooner despite living in Riften. She is kidnapped 3 weeks later, and the events of the Dark Brotherhood plotline follow. She grows close to every member of the brotherhood, eventually falling in love with Gabriella. The two of them are nearly betrothed when the brotherhood begins falling apart. Her dedication to the brotherhood leads to her killing Cicero, and when Gabriella and most of the brotherhood are murdered she forms a bond with Babette and Nazir that is borderline codependent. Together they rebuild and regroup in Dawnstar and after a period of time get back on their feet. She becomes a devout follower of Sithis and leader of the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim.
Her assassinations are swift and unexpected, often acting as a barmaid and slipping undetectable poisons into bottles of ale. She remains somewhat of an honorary member and associate of the thieves guild though she is very rarely active in their work. She communicates between the two often and gives them tip-offs and information where she can, as well as taking over Delvin's role as the connection between the two groups, The only one aware of her position from the guild is Brynjolf.

Changes to character with revamp:
Hair is simplified. More focused on being an undercut without trying to also be a mohawk.
Removed adoptive parents. Instead, I've moved the timeline back a bit, so she is taken into the Thieves guild earlier in her life.
Lavinia is now a master alchemist, with a decent knowledge of enchantment as well. In her teen years, she apprenticed under Elgrim. Her mother was an alchemist and it is one of the few connections she has to her birth family. She continues her studies until there is nothing more Elgrim can teach her, eventually working alongside Gabriella to create undetectable but deadly poisons. This is now her style for assassinations.
I made her a bit older when she starts the brotherhood questline (24) because now that I'm not 15 I realize there is no reason for her to be 18
Lavinia is no longer the dragonborn
Lavinia is no longer the guild master. Instead the duties of the guild master are shared between Karliah and Brynjolf, with Lavinia weighing in when she can. Her sole focus is now being the listener.

OOC? (Again) (Draft)
Sometimes I think about how NJ and 1010 apparently weren't originally written to have any kind of parent-child bond, but since it's basically been adopted as canon, I wonder how that has changed the reading/writing of NJ's character over time.
NSR (the game) is not a subtle work. For better or worse, it is very ham-fisted in how it wants you to feel about the ideas and themes it explores, and 1010 is one of the more blatant examples.
NSR is incredibly cynical about the concept of the boy band. It remarks how the industry basically manufactures its idols for mass consumption, who can then be replaced in an instant with a look-alike among look-alikes. Beneath all their charm, 1010 operates under militaristic conditions, headed by an actual military leader who puts his ideals and serving his company before the well-being of himself and his crew.
None of that is really new commentary. The comparison between boy bands being expendable drones that feed a corrupt system has been around practically since the peak of boy band popularity, but it is nonetheless a key component of 1010/NJ's characterization that I don't see utilized often.
I think some of the nuances of their character is lost from how, unlike most of the other antagonists, 1010 and NJ aren't the cause of their corruption: they're the product. Almost every other boss's conflict is a result of a character flaw:
DJSS's ego causes him to neglect his district and abuse the people around him.
Team Sayu's struggle to cooperate leads to Sayu becoming unstable.
DK West and Zuke's poor communication causes their relationship to deteriorate.
Yinu's brattiness is enabled by Mama, whose overprotectiveness leads to her focusing more on vengeance than actually protecting her daughter.
Eve's wrath causes her to unfairly target Mayday, which at the core is caused by Eve's codependent self-worth.
Meanwhile, 1010's major conflict seems to be based around their shallowness (their "artificiality" if you will). They self-destruct not directly due to B2J, but because they were rejected by their fans after revealing their "true" forms. But it's hard to call that a "character flaw" when they aren't really "characters." In the context of the story, 1010 are closer to props than actually fully realized characters like the rest of the main cast.
In a human or otherwise sapient character, their inability to be of any worth without their looks would be a significant character flaw, but 1010's status as dubiously sapient robots reduces a lot of their agency. 1010 cannot experience character growth because they are incapable of doing anything beyond their programming.
That said, this would mean that any flaws they do have should be reflective of whoever programmed them, which should be Neon J., but Neon J.'s main character flaw is seemingly unrelated to 1010's.
I know that in earlier versions of the script and his character design, Neon J's vanity/low self-esteem was a key part of his character, but it isn't really present in the final product.
In the game, NJ's major flaw appears to be dogma: his dedication to NSR and upholding its ideals are what leads him to be so militaristic, and apparently he has caused many atrocities in the name of NSR due to misguided loyalty to the company. In a way, it mirrors how B2J are disregarding the consequences of their actions in the name of their own ideals.
While he speaks like he is one of the more selfless members of NSR, comments about how "If you mess with my troops, you mess with me!" fail to hold water when NJ doesn't go into the front lines until he pushes his crew literally past their breaking point. Even when he does go on the offensive, all of his attacks involve utilizing the 1010s as weapons.
I dunno, after all that, I just can't read Neon J. as a particularly loving or kind person, and I don't think he was ever meant to be. This isn't to say that I think he's evil or needs to be scorned, it's just that I think people assume he's a lot nicer than he actually is.

Name: Zane Rosario Species: Vampire Occupation: Nurse Age: 25 Years Old Played By: Hera Face Claim: Mason Gooding
"Love should be unconditional."
TW: Homophobia (mention)
From one wicked cult to another, Zane really seemed to have a penchant for joining large, dysfunctional families as he would still lovingly refer to them. Although The New Religion hadn't exactly been a cult. Zane had gotten used to the reading and re-reading of the prophesized end, only ever referred to in the pamphlets The New Religion aptly named the true scriptures, and even assumed the occasional sleep overs out in the fields waiting for the rapture were a part of regular, daily life. A life he would have happily lived out until the inevitable (but never quite predictable) end if not for the loose lips of a close friend. At 15, wondering about what was left of their future with his childhood friend and destined wife if the townspeople had any say, Zane had let it slip that he sometimes wondered if any of the other boys ever had… those kind of feelings for their fellow choir boys.
Without much explanation or goodbye, Zane was part of the adoption system now. He kept his good manners and bright outlook but the internet made its mark on the unyielding belief that the world would soon end. It also gave him an idea of why his parents and family in belief had left him to fend for himself, thrown between families for the next three years. Despite his best efforts to connect and bond, most of those who housed him had their own lives to live and preferred the pay out for housing him to actual conversation. So the search for a new family continued.
Community college was a bust when it came to making friends (15 years of communication within a gated community left something to be desired) and his distaste for alcohol didn’t much help. With money in scarce quantity and no clear path for the future in college - it was hard to wonder what you wanted to be when you grew up when there wouldn’t be a world to grow up into - Zane signed up for a new religious mission. Just because his old family had lied about… well, almost everything, that didn’t mean he couldn’t believe in something… right?
So Shining Light, a non-profit charity group of stragglers like himself, took him in as one of their own, travelling to poor areas and providing assistance where they could. Zane started out as a grunt, carrying supplies and cleaning up after the unofficial medics but slowly he climbed up the ranks to medic in training. Informal and no diploma awarded but he was helping and the people he travelled with almost felt like a family. A family that regularly changed members and deployed people to different stations but still. Until the big implosion of his makeshift family due to lack of funding, stranding him in a small town in Maine with no family and no mission. At least he somewhat knew what he wanted to do with his life moving forward.
It was at the ER, hour 15 of his 16 hour shift, when an older woman approached him. The fangs gleaming in her mouth could have been from delirium after running around all night but no. She was indeed a vampire. Their clan - their family - was in trouble and Zane seemed like the kind of person to help anyone, mortality status included. She was right. And so he did. Not to mention that a nice, caring vampire spat in the face of all the "devil creatures" talk he could regularly overhear at the hospital.
Alma, the unofficial leader of their somewhat democratic clan, offered a safe space to stay surrounded by people (vampires) who treated him kinder than anyone had before. It did feel wrong at first, stealing blood from the ER but the warm embrace of a family that had been together for decades, centuries even, welcoming him as one of their own… it was almost too good to be true. So what if the way to stay here was to let them technically kill him?
Character Facts:
Personality: Impressionable, optimistic, hard-working, caring, self prejudiced, codependent, romantic, loyal, stubborn
After years as an "unofficial medic", he's very good at improvising and thinking on his feet. General knowledge (and math) however is not something he particularly excels at.
His social skills are still a bit lacking, except when it comes to patients, which he has a real knack for talking to. Provided they're not too attractive.
Spent all of his life alcohol free and really doesn't understand what all the fuzz is about.
Has an instagram account full of filtered pictures from various spots around town including interesting graffiti or weirdly dressed guy smoking cigarette. He will also troll someone's profile taking the utmost care not to leave an accidental like.
Almost definitely undiagnosed ADHD.

Personal History & Relationship: Phineas and Emmanuel
LONG POST AHEAD
CW: mention of deportation, depression/suicide, parental death, abuse, codependency
Oh. These two… 😌
Tumblr media
Finn and Manny (or as Finn calls him, “E,”) have known each other since boyhood. Their fathers - Patrick and Diego - become great friends when Patrick offered to assist Diego regarding an appeal of a deportation decision. It had left the Domingo family fractured, with Manny’s mother and brother in Guatemala, but the boys quickly bonded over the shared absence of a mother (Heather Morgan died of meningitis very shortly after she gave birth) and the bond between their fathers.
As time went on Manny and Finn became inseparable, spending nearly every day together, having endless sleepovers, going to the same pre-school, developing a closeness that was beyond friendship or even a sibling bond. However, what truly solidified that bond came with a cost.
Patrick Morgan suffered from untreated major depression for most of his life. He was a fretful man with regard to his perceived stature and tended to overwork his image at the expense of his mental health. After his wife passed he threw himself into his practice and relied heavily on distraction over coping and facing his depression. Diego urged him when they worked together on his wife’s case to seek help, tried to help him find hope in things like his career and his son, who idolised him, but after a particularly difficult case that resulted in the harsh sentencing of an 18 year old girl, Patrick’s depression took his life, leaving and 8 year old Phineas to discover his body in the garage. His first call was not to the police, but to Diego.
Patrick left no note, but had an extensive, ironclad will in an effort to ensure Finn was not solely left to the system as best he could; he also left Finn a sizeable trust that he could inherit when he was 18, as well as every asset of the Morgan estate. While the state determined how to meet the stipulations while also placing Finn in a foster home (the Morgans had no next of kin), Finn lived with Diego and Manny, but the gleeful kid they knew had been replaced with a timid, anxious, easily emotional and increasingly frightened and angry young boy. During this time Diego decided he had to do right by his friend, and began the process of applying to adopt Finn. But by this time, the state had found him a home. Diego’s application was denied faster than most.
Despite moving around and Finn’s increasingly difficult childhood, the boys’ bond did not waver. They still went to the same school, had play dates and sleepovers whenever possible, and grew up alongside each other even though they no longer lived together or saw each other every day. Continuously, Finn would seek out Manny’s constancy and reassurance, growing to depend on his presence as the only thing that was stable, safe, and consistent in his life. As he grew up isolated, skittish, and abandoned, he watched as Manny grew to be confident and loving, happy, and warm, and Finn was drawn to him like a moth to lamplight. Manny, in turn, ached to see his beloved companion have a better life, and never hesitated to provide a shining light to him in darkness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At age 15, Finn was moved to a group home for teen boys after surviving three years in an abusive foster home with 3 other boys. The group home was not far from the Domingo’s home, and throughout high school, their bond began to form and shape into the eventual love and romance they have now, though at the time it was much more tumultuous and intense. Being close to Manny again meant Finn could cling hard and immediately, grasping at the potency of safety after many years of it being uncertain or even outright absent in his life. Diego did his best, coaxing the boy just like he did with his friend to seek help and find hope, but Finn only dug in his heels. Manny, sensitive and passionate, and a growing advocate with a strong sense of justice, began to become extremely protective of Finn. The two were often seen to their classmates as a dangerous duo - Manny being the calm, deceptively cheerful yet ferocious protector, and Phineas, the erratic, vicious, short-tempered outcast under his wing. Finn was a firecracker, muted at first yet prone to being explosive and emotional, getting into fights and snapping at authority figures, while Manny would clean up his mess behind, apologising, excusing, sheltering Finn from the consequences as best he could.
It was difficult, codependent, and becoming toxic. But eventually, things began to simmer and smooth.
By college, Phineas and Emmanuel began to understand their bond with better insight. Finn, with the help of his father’s paralegal-turned-civil attorney Casey, gained independence upon receiving his inheritance and became determined to separate himself from the dismal statistics of young people in his situation. He fought his way into school and found his own place, managed his money with Casey’s help and liquidated acquired assets to ensure that if he couldn’t achieve a future he could at least afford one. With his basic needs finally met and moving towards stable, Finn was able to finally discover what brought him joy and comfort, what made him feel safe and even happy, and it boiled down to two things: books, and Emmanuel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They fell into a deeply passionate and loving romance after that, attending the same university and discovering each other as well as themselves in a new light. Finn was still obsessive and erratic at times, but Manny’s stability became a balm more than a bandage. He attempted to push Finn just as his father did to better himself, but his primary focus was on providing love and stability, which Finn returned with whimsical romantic gestures and a heartfelt, poetic infatuation for him. With this new relationship dynamic finally slotting into place for them, Finn and Manny began to understand their hearts and minds with a more intimate depth, and by the time they each approached graduation, they were inseparable once more.
Eventually Finn came to understand that Manny was more than a boyfriend or a best friend, but rather, a life partner. They settled neatly into the unshakable fact that they would always love and be loved by each other, in every iteration of themselves. But Finn began to see too through this that there was more love in him to give, an insatiable amount, long since muted and pushed down by the traumas he’d endured, aching to be freed. His proclivity for being over-emotional therefore manifested in potent highs of neediness and clinginess, which could make Manny feel stifled or even worried, as he felt ever being unavailable meant jeopardising their relationship or his well being. Finn still had a lot of unresolved pain and hurt, and his attachment style exemplified this. Manny felt he couldn’t give Finn all he needed as a partner no matter how in love they were, no matter how much they needed each other. And Finn, despite himself, began to feel the same.
But they needed each other. Unquestionably. So after two years together, they decided to try and open their relationship to allow for a third partner - one they could mutually be involved with or one that Finn would be with exclusively - to help them ease the pressure and allow a flourish of intimacy and trust between them. It was a mutual decision, despite a little fear and apprehension on both ends, but ultimately the desire to give each other what they needed to be happy (Phineas an outlet for his attachment without overwhelming one person, and Manny some space to breathe while knowing the one he loved was still being cared for) led them to falling even more in love with each other, even though they had not yet found a partner to suit this need. The knowledge of their unwavering connection and the promise of allowing their love to grow was enough.
And then Finn met Violet.
Emmanuel often says that to watch someone you love, loving someone else, is a profound gift. To see them alight with joy and happiness, allowing them to glow in their own affections is exhilarating and inspiring, and it makes him fall and fall and fall in love over and again with Phineas, each time he glows in the light of his or Violet’s love. And in turn, Phineas gives him that love ten and twenty fold, his still healing heart now held in the strong and tender hands of both Manny and Violet, helping collect the pieces and put them back in place, or fill the empty spots with each of their own.
It’s unconventional and at times may appear complicated, or even disingenuous to those who don’t know better, but to them, it’s enough, and it’s as perfect as it can be.

BIOGRAPHY.
The result of an unplanned pregnancy, Alaric was born as one half of a pair of identical twin boys in Kismet Harbor to a young couple who tried very little to adjust to their lives as new parents. Leaving their young infant sons unattended, they prioritized their free-spirit lifestyle, denoted by parties and substance abuse, which resulted in manic frenzies and constant fighting in a home, unfit for two children.
It didn't take long until CPS took notice of the small family and placed the two boys with foster parents. Though they did try to keep the boys together, Alaric found himself lucky enough to be taken in by a local psychiatrist and his wife, who worked as a professor of performing arts at Chapman University while his brother ended up living with a family residing in Salem, OR.
At the age of nine, Alaric was officially adopted by his foster parents, who equipped the boy with everything they could. Music, literature, history and performing arts were only few of the interests the boy had been fed. He became a bright student with a hunger for knowledge and the drive to succeed.
As Alaric turned sixteen, his hunger for knowledge shifted, now leaning toward the desire to connect with his past. As his biological parents had left Kismet Harbor long ago, he focused his search on his brother Alastair, who he eventually managed to track down in Salem.
As he turned 19, Alaric left Kismet Harbor and moved all the way across the country to New York, pursuing his studies in history and education at Columbia University, his brother swiftly following suit. The brothers had managed to build a strong bond, though from Alistair's perspective it bordered on codependency. Alaric's twin brother, younger by no more than mere minutes at best, made it a point to rarely be seen without him, always lingering in immediate proximity. It lead to irritation and fights, that escalated until it was Alistair, who eventually left New York City.
During his time at Columbia, Alaric met Caroline. One might call it 'love at first sight' and the two entered a relationship not too long after first meeting. Though the falling out between his brother and him took much more of a toll on Alaric than he'd anticipated and he slowly began drowning his sorrows in alcohol, which in turn, strained his relationship with Caroline, who eventually was no longer willing to bear witness to the tragedy unfolding with her boyfriend and broke things off with him.
Suddenly being on his own, Alaric spiraled downward. With Caroline gone, nothing tied him to the big city any longer and he eventually moved back to his hometown of Kismet Harbor. Accepting a spot at Chapman University, he regained focus, working on remaining sober, which sometimes still proves to be a struggle.
Alaric, upon first meeting him, is a perfect gentleman. Always kind and level-headed, but a different story slumbers below his skin. Struggling with sobriety still, he tries his best to not get too caught up in his head, as he has to come to terms with the demons that come to light, once his vices get the best of him in irregular instances. Keeping his emotions in check and himself detached from most of the outside world, his reservations may be wrongly considered arrogance. To this day, Alaric finds it difficult to open up to people, who he has not yet come to know.
an actual bio will be written eventually

more stobin head canons bc i miss my fav bff’s so much
they’re so attached to each other that people think they’re siblings
steve basically got adopted by robin’s family so they might as well be siblings
steve actually loves being robin’s “brother” bc he’s an only child and his parents aren’t around much
he’s also very close w robin’s parents
steve drives robin everywhere and anywhere
he claims to hate it
but actually loves it
they absolutely scream to every song on the radio and once the song ends they just deadpan to each other
robin plays around with steve’s hair
they get matching tattoos
they share pronouns
and share clothes
steve suggests as a joke to do robin’s makeup one day
and it actually comes out really good??
and then robin decides to do steve’s makeup
they go to a corroded coffin concert in said makeup
robin witnesses steve bi panic irl
she doesn’t let him live it down for the rest of the night bc omg steve has a crush on eddie munson
but!!!!!
nancy is at the concert to take photos and steve does not let robin live down her reaction to nancy’s version of punk makeup to blend in with the crowd
“i don’t have a crush on nancy, steve!”
“i give you full permission to date my ex!”
“no that’s against best friend code!!”
and basically they go back and forth
nancy and eddie hear this entire conversation and don’t say anything
anyways
modern!stobin play just dance
robin is always the guy and steve is always the girl
modern!steve takes robin to a girl in red concert
have i mentioned they’re roomates?
because if not
they’re roomates
they’re actually annoyingly attached to each other. i’ve already mentioned this but you just don’t get it. it’s rare to see them apart all bc they’ve become very codependent on each other
i feel like this is all over the place but stay with me please my brain is just coming up with other things
cooking with stobin is always a trip
they mostly make pasta dishes bc that’s robin’s safe food and steve is picky
eddie and vickie (or nancy) get a tiny little bit jealous at the bond steve and robin have bc while they’re their partners, nothing can beat their platonic soulmatism
steve is very patient with robin and makes sure that she knows that
robin gets insecure that steve will find her annoying when info dumping, having sensory issues or is just struggling to process stuff
and steve always confirms that he doesn’t care and will always be there for them when needed
i think i’ve already mentioned that they share clothes
but
that doesn’t just mean, like, robin taking steve’s hoodies
i mean steve wears (actually stole) all of robin’s three skirts that she has, robin takes steve’s shirts, they share jewelry, sweatshirts, etc
robin encourages steve to let out her feminine side and steve encourages robin to let out their masculine side
gender-fluid stobin real
steddie and rockie/ronance double dates are actually an excuse for steve and robin to hang out with each other and also their partners
i think that’s healthy
anyways that’s all i have for now

Do you Julian is capable of casual sex? Or does he accidentally fall in love with anyone who tops him
So I think Sid said this, or it was attributed to him, that Julian is someone who struggles to differentiate between platonic friendship feelings and romantic or sexual feelings and I've always integrated that into my understanding of Julian as a character because it feels authentic and true to how we see him on screen.
I think Julian is someone who very easily falls into and out of infatuation and doesn't have a great personal understanding of what love looks like once the infatuation dies. Which like. I know you're gonna be like, but Emily, he was engaged to Palis! That shows commitment! He was with her for a long time!
And like, sure.
But he also cut and run the first chance he got because he couldn't let her actually get close to him. He couldn't actually marry her. Because it would be dangerous to allow that kind of intimacy and day-in/day-out access to his life while trying to keep his augmentations a secret. Julian is someone who struggles to make and keep relationships because of the masks he is required to wear to keep himself (and his parents, by association) safe. The price of his augmented "greatness" is easy authenticity. It's the presumption that at the slightest mistake, he could lose it all. It's the presumption that his true self is undesirable and sinful. That his true self besmirches the ideals of the Federation and Starfleet.
When attachment and emotional intimacy is not inherently safe, it's easy to idealize the idea of the rush of infatuation and the suddenness of falling in love. (Ask me how I know.) When you're not practiced at relationship building, every person you meet who is nice to you can become The One. And you do it again and again and again and again because you don't know the first thing about nurturing a relationship or how to make the effort in a relationship let alone how to have a relationship with boundaries, without enmeshment, without codependency. You might not even know what you want, you just know it's not what you came from.
Julian just... kind of gets adopted by the rest of the DS9 senior staff and community. He's taught how to have these relationships and how to build friendships that aren't based on proximity and societal pressure cookers and trauma bonds. And we see him come into himself throughout the show! One of the positive character developments for Julian is that he is able to form these relationship bonds and feel secure in his friendships even as the war destroys him emotionally on a fundamental level.
Anyway circling back to your actual question, lmao.
I think Julian is perfectly capable of having casual sex with his friends because he doesn't necessarily disassociate friendship from sex. I think he becomes immediately infatuated with anyone who tries to top him and regularly tries to dive headfirst into being codependent with anyone who shows him even the smallest amount of kindness which. *Gestures vaguely at his family of origin.*
But yeah. I think it's entirely possible for someone to be able to have casual sex with their friends because sex is just something you do with your body to have fun, but also be susceptible to tripping and falling into that pool of endorphins with a fun interesting stranger and be like.
Is this my future spouse?
Which is why I personally think any scenario where Julian becomes even the slightest bit aware of his feelings for Garak and then shoves that shit right back down is very fun for me. Because when you have very few healthy committed romantic relationships modeled for you you tend to either miss the forest for the trees or figure out you've essentially been in a relationship for years and are so scared of messing it up or reading the situation wrong that you just refuse to read it at all. Because you have Julian and Garak just taking turns having moments of realization and just going, nope. No. No no, not gonna dig that up today. No thank you. While getting even further into the... whatever the fuck you call that.
Until you finally name it and then get married five months later.
(Ask me how I know.)

so i had this concept idea of aging up Kushina/Minato a little and having them have Naruto waaaaaaaaaay earlier in canon. im calling it the
like as in he's 1 year younger than kakashi earlier. They're still pretty young when he's born (a bit of an oops-baby who they love entirely). If you can't tell, this changes everything.
He grows up and is mostly home-taught, but he goes to the Academy eventually to officially be a shinobi- but before that, he meets Kakashi (who wanders and trains when his father leaves for missions), who is confused and provoked and very curious about this tiny highlighter yellow toddler who he finds alone in the playground and who INSISTS on following him around everywhere.
So the thing about Naruto in this au is that he has the Yang part of the kyuubi, and Kushina (although weakened) hangs onto the Yin part of the kyuubi. Because of this, naruto ends up having a borderline photographic memory, which means he remembers kakashi, and is ALSO curious about him. He is also dependent on the Kyuubi's chakra, which means MORE changes, because despite Jiraiya and Minato's sealwork together, it would never be as iron tight as the canon sealwork.
They meet a couple more times before Sakumo comes back from his most recent mission, and imagine the old man's surprise when his son comes home with little friend! He's delighted, first, and then Naruto starts barging in at random. theyre not quite friends, but they're not... not friends.
Kushina's the one who notices her outgoing tiny kit starts leaving the house more and more often, and she's the one who meets Sakumo and kakashi first.
there's filler and bonding...
...and then Sakumo fails the Suna mission. And then despite Kushina's hardest attempts at keeping the man mentally stable, he dies. She can't be there every moment of the day, and it's one of the few weeks where she was deployed for a war mission.
Naruto is the one who finds Kakashi and Sakumo, and is also the one to basically kidnap him when Kakashi falls into depression- Minato, who was the one to stay behind to look after his son, does not discourage this. Kakashi doesn't officially live with them, nor is he adopted- but he's over more often than not. He keeps the compound, throws himself into training, and Naruto does the same (though he has to wait a year before either of his parents allow him into the Academy).
Naruto, as he isn't part of Team Seven (minato version), is an entire cryptid to them. He's crazily skilled, but they're pretty sure they would've recognized him if he were in their class? They don't know his name? Sensei is really weird about it when they ask about him? Obito and Rin are going crazy over who he is and why eternally stoic Kakashi actually responds with enthusiasm to this tiny feral gremlin (obito and rin are both two years older than Kakashi, who is currently 8/9ish vs their 11/12ish. Naruto graduated the same year as them, idk im working on the timeline).
i havent decided if I want to keep Rin alive or not yet (leaning heavy on the not because i have plans for naruto and kakashi being borderline codependent), but Obito definitely does "not" survive despite Naruto appearing to help out during Kanabi Bridge-
PART ONE
Oh I love this! It sounds like an excellent AU basis that would have massive ripple effects on canon and would allow you to take things in so many different directions depending on what you want

Oh hell yeah let’s do it.
Age gap: 0, unless it’s underage. I don’t fuck with that. That was me at 14 with a 19yo. Not happening.
Codependency: +7. I’m in love, absolutely, as long as it’s done right. Do I know how to explain “right”? No I do not. But I know what I mean.
Obsession/possessiveness, jealousy: +5 for a lot of the same reasons as above. I love the need, I love the closeness, but sometimes it goes too far (borders on dead dove for me because I KNOW what I’m getting into and yet I do it anyways) so that’s why it’s rated lower.
Opposites (grumpy/sunshine, etc.): +9. Literally the only thing better is the PERCEPTION of opposites, when Character A is said to be sunshine and B is said to be grumpy, when really it’s the opposite. It’s perfection and I will always always read this.
Enemies to lovers, enemies with benefits: +9 mostly just because I don’t think I’ll ever tag anything as +10 because I think there will always be exceptions, or times I don’t want to read about it. For the most part, though, I’m ALWAYS happy to read about this.
Friends with benefits: +7 for the same reasons as op. If a fic doesn’t have the ‘happy ending’ tag or something similar, 9/10 times I won’t read it.
Sex to feelings: +7. Honestly it’s kinda the exact same as the above trope? Or at least fwb turns into this which (hopefully lol) turns into lovers.
Fake dating/relationship: +8. Some of my FAVORITE fics ever have been fake dating, but again, I need a happy ending!!!
Friends to lovers: +10 oh HELL yeah I eat this shit UP. The closeness???? The BOND they have from the friendship first?????? I take a lot of relationship cues from my parents. They’ve been together 28 years and first and foremost, they’re best friends. And I mean BEST friends. It’s fantastic actually. So much so that I’m rescinding my earlier statement about never giving a +10.
Found family: +9. This is also everything to me. Especially Steddie and their adopted 6 nuggets. Also the Batfam. Love it.
Hurt/comfort: +9 just because sometimes I just want a little comfy thing, I don’t want the pain beforehand. But most times this is perfection.
Love triangle: +2. It’s really not my favorite thing at all, it feels overdone to the point it feels like there’s nothing original about it anymore. It’s all been done already.
Poly, open relationships: +3. Personally it’s too many people to keep track of 😂 and there’s so much room for angst which I’m usually not here for.
Mistaken/hidden identity: +4. I don’t have super strong feelings about it, honestly, but done right it’s fantastic.
Monsterfucking: +6. There are few times I’d turn it down, but I also don’t necessarily seek these out.
Pregnancy: +7. I LOVE these. I love the ups & downs of the pregnancy itself, I love the birth, I just love it!
Second chance: 0. I don’t think I’ve ever read one. As such… no opinion.
Slowburn: +7. Considering I’m in the middle of writing my second slow-burn for Steddie, and have read numerous… yeah. Definitely.
Soulmates: +9. I’ve always loved this trope. I love how versatile it is, how inevitable it is. Perfection.

Trope rating game
tagged by @just-my-latest-hyperfixation (my wife must be trying to kinkshame me or something that's okay I'm into it)
rules: How much do these tropes affect your decision to click on a fic? -10 -> very dissuaded  0 - don’t care either way  +10 -> very enticed  nope -> if it’s a hard no and you’d never click on a fic with that tag or or you even have the tag blocked or you’d insta click out of the fic if it wasn’t tagged.  Bonus points for explaining the rating and whether it’s conditional.
Age gap: +3
It definitely isn't a make or break for me, but sometimes when I'm on the cusp of not clicking something and I see it, especially with certain authors, the temptation is too good to ignore.
Codependency: +5
It's about the toxic love for me. They just NEED each other SO MUCH.
Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: + 7
There are the occasional times when the obsessive/possession is too much, but it is RARE at this point. The more "you're mine, I'm yours" there is the better to meeeee.
Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): +4
I like it as a background feature most of the time (said as if my most popular written work didn't start as grumpy/sunshine based).
Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +10
I kiss every author who writes it on the MOUTH.
Friends with benefits: +5
I love it when it ends in requited feelings, but I have read it where it turns ugly and stays ugly and I do not ever wanna read that! Please! I'm a big baby.
Sex to feelings: +6
See above pretty much. But also in cases where they were just a hookup and then just fall in love quickly? That's my kryptonite.
Fake dating/relationship: +4
I am alllll for fake dating/relationships, but it absolutely has to lead to the real deal. I can't be edged like that for it to just end. I especially love when it's slow burn for this, so if the slow burn tag isn't there, I may not click it.
Friends to lovers: +2
Something is broken in my brain that this doesn't get me hooked the way any other blank to lovers does.
Found Family: +8
I don't click on stuff BECAUSE of it alone, but it definitely does help with fics I'm on the fence about.
Hurt/Comfort: +10
Yes. I want them to hurt and then be so so comforted. Every time. All the time.
Love Triangle: -8
In any ship, I absolutely hate it. Just be brave and make them polyam instead.
Poly, open relationships: 0
I personally love Steddissy as far as polyam goes, but open relationships are super difficult for me to read. I know that works for a lot of people, but if it's a tag, I'm probably not reading that fic.
Mistaken/hidden identity: 0
For one shots, sure. Anything chaptered, I think it gets into unbelievable territory without very specific other tags with it and I have never seen one that hits the spot.
Monsterfucking: +10
Yeah well. No words necessary.
Pregnancy: 0
I'm never reading a story BECAUSE of the pregnancy tag, but it fits in some cases (the good omegaverse shit if ya know what I mean). I lived it, hated it, don't wanna read too much about it.
Second Chance: +3
I don't know that I have ever read a Steddie second chance fic, but I don't know if this particular trope would make me dive in.
Slowburn: +10
I loooooove a good slow burn. I will read just about anything if it's got a slow burn tag.
Soulmates: +7
Steddie is really the first ship where I was like all in for this trope, so if it's got this tag, I am so so in.
