I’ve always imagined Soap to be a nervous smiler. Like any awkward/anxious/tense people situation and he’s sporting a wide grin. Like a coping mechanism, but because of his outgoing nature people don’t really realise it .
All I’m saying:
In battle situations his enemies start panicking when they know they’ve got him pinned and outgunned but the guy just starts fucking smiling at them and ah shit they’re fucked aren’t they?
Johnny meeting Ghost, this absolute unit of a man who looks like the Grim Reaper was afraid to take him, and he just breaks into the widest smile he’s thrown in a while. Ghost becomes curious, as the only reactions he usually got were horror and fear, while Soap looked like he was excited to meet him. Meanwhile Soaps internally screaming switching between fight or flight mode thinking he’s gonna die.

Ghost X reader - Training Wheels
Tumblr media
Summary: Price decided to hire some new recruits with no experience to help with further missions, but some people are a little impatient when it comes to recruitments.
Warning: use of Guns, swear words
“Listen up recruits, you’ll all be paired with one of my skilled gunman, who they choose is up to them and if I find that you have messed around you will be terminated immediately,” He pauses, staring at the recruits that lined up in front of him. “When i call your name and who you are with you can start, do you understand,” A chorus of ‘yes sir’ fall from the crowd. Price grunts in agreement before he starts to call out names.
You watch as the people around you get paired up and sent out to the training stations that are placed neatly in a circular shape around the stage. Some stations have guns lined up on tables with targets waiting far away from them, another has a Spartan barbed wire crawl that's filled with mud.
“Y/N L/N, you’re going to be paired up with Ghost,” He yells out, scanning across the crowd for your face before he continues to call on more recruits. Your feet drag yourself up the stairs that connect to the stage and towards the man who holds his arms crossed over his chest, his expression unreadable because of the mask on his face.
As soon as you set foot onto the stage he instantly picks up his gun and walks off in the other direction, towards one of the stations. You quicken your pace to catch up to him, strolling beside him calmly. You both arrive at one of the stations with the table full of guns. He walks over to the chair that looks lazily thrown out in the corner and takes a seat.
“Hurry up and grab a gun,” he says, leaning back into the chair with his hands on his head. You go and grab a small revolver, passing it between your hands as you walk up to the line so you could shoot. You look over at Ghost waiting for permission to actually try to shoot. He gives a small nod and you raise the gun, your hands slightly wavering as you aim for one of the closer targets that are set up across a large field. The gun bobs up and down softly as you try to aim straight.
The gun goes off loudly as you jump back in surprise. You bring the gun down as you look at the target to see a bullet hole, but the target looks good as new.
“You missed,” his low voice booms out loudly, looking at you with disbelief laced into his words. His large boots shake the ground as he strides over to you, grabbing your hand holding the gun with his, lining it up properly to aim at the target.
“You need to actually look and aim at the target before you shoot,”. He straightens up the gun to properly aim at the target before continuing. “Don’t bob it up and down either, keep it steady otherwise you’ll be the one whose dead,”. His voice goes lower, adding a more serious tone of voice to the conversation.
Again the gun shouts loudly, bullets whistling through the air piercing straight into the middle of the target. He scoffs lightly before walking back over to his seat. He lands with a huff as he places his hands on his knees as he stares at you.
“Try again”.

something I really liked about old FPS games was when multiplayer servers would sometimes had these giant room maps where you would run around in a giant kitchen or bedroom shooting the other players and it made it look like you were tiny toy soldiers

I really hope people will know about the first CoD game. Because despite the fact that it had low graphics, the way they conveyed the whole campaign literally feels like I was watching a movie masterpiece.
That game had an emotional impact on me, feeling I was a part of the team, fighting against the enemy. I felt the terror when I saw my health deteriorating and I needed to find a health kit immediately. How often it confused me where to go because they didn't have a direction marker, but only had my compass as support. How I felt going in a car chase with Sgt. Moody and Pvt. Elder and instantly loving their dynamic. How I felt the horror of taking over the Eder Dam mission all by myself. How I liberated Berlin with my comrades.
Not just that one game, but CoD2, CoD: World at War and these very WW2 games developed by Infinity Ward and Treyarch. Damn. No wonder why I felt this budding interest in playing Medal of Honor as well, completing the main game Allied Assault along with their extension packs, Breakthrough and Spearhead. These very games made me intrigued in the WW2 storyline.
Praying that these games reach the right audience again and revive these legendary games from the dead.

Hey!! So uh— we have come across a .. issue and now we have 4 different alters that need nicknames! Because they have the exact same name just with a different number
They're fictives of shadow company soldiers, the only way I can describe them is as reckless, a little stupid but nice, mamas boys and chaos incarnate. I don't know if that helps at all with nicknames, I am so sorry
Hey Anon, apologies for the wait. The mod who originally claimed this post is unable to post right now and it took me a minute to gather these! I hope they’re okay, if you’d like something different feel free to send in another ask and i’ll prioritize it!

Ghost’s comfort movie is Puss in Boots: The last wish.
Alejandro had been raving about it for a while to Soap, who became so enthusiastic about watching a good animated movie, he downloaded it and promised himself he’d see it as soon as he got time.
He did ask Ghost if he wanted to join, but after a while of no response Soap just figured he wasn’t into it. That’s fine. It was his loss anyway.
Cut to a few weeks later when Soap and Ghost had just finished an exhausting mission. They were both sitting next to each other on the plane back to base when Soap remembered the film and started watch it on a tiny screen.
Not even five minutes in Ghost’s book is long forgotten as he folds his arm and leans closer to see it. He notices Soap’s already dozing off, expected from the constant night watches the man had pulled off, and figured what the hell, he’s got nothing to lose.
The movie is fucking amazing. The minute the wolf’s whistle pierced through the air, Ghost is sold. This was his new favourite movie. And fucking hell those weapons!
There’s a sudden weight against his shoulder, and the lieutenant reflexively looks over to identify the threat. Apparently he’d been so invested in the movie he’d scooted closer to the sleeping Scot, whose head had currently fallen on his shoulder.
Relaxing his shoulder, he adjusts his position so that they’re both more comfortable before watching the movie again, and he can’t believe he’s cracking up at some of the jokes. Especially with the three bears.
And the dog was swearing.
Everything was amazing, and Ghost felt better than he had in a while.
Until that scene.
Puss’s heartbeat was hammering against his chest, with the distorted voices and colours echoing everywhere and Ghost’s body went on autopilot. It was getting too real, the fear, the adrenaline, the noises-
“Si.. , relax lad.”
Soaps eyes were still closed, but eyebrows were furrowed. His hand was gently pushing against Ghost’s rapidly bouncing leg, spreading out his fingers and gently patting the restless knee. Ghost hadn’t even noticed when that started.
Soap’s mouth was set in a frown as his hand blindly groped around before finding Ghost’s chest and slowly rubbing soothing circles around it.
Something about that was healing. It was safe, and warm, and Ghost felt himself slowly relaxing before he let out a deep breath and lay back against the seat.
And that’s when he noticed Perrito dropping his head on Puss’s chest to do the same. To keep him grounded.
Heh.. Soap was like the dog.
He glanced at Johnny, who must’ve deemed Ghost stable now because he was fast asleep again, with his hand slackening and coming to a rest on the ground, brushing against the other’s.
The movie ended not long after, and the man couldn’t help but feel disappointed. It was a fucking amazing movie, and no one would ever disrespect it unless they wanted to visit the grim reaper themselves.
It was then he became aware of his hand absentmindedly running circles on something, and he felt his breath hitch when he realised that something was Soap’s hand.
He was holding Soap’s hand.
Holy shit what the hell had that movie done to him??
But he was hesitant to move, so he reluctantly laid back, and let his thoughts wander.
Come to think of it..Price would be the old cat lady. Cuz… he kept collecting strays.
He chuckled.
When the flight ended, two things happened.
1. Soap awoke and instantly started cursing in Scottish - pissed about falling asleep before he even got to watch the movie - far too engrossed to notice who he’d been resting on, or feel Ghost’s hand quickly untangle from his.
2. Ghost started calling him Perrito. It was rare, but a nickname the other kept saying with a mischievous glint in his eyes. His tone was far too fond for it to NOT mean something, but Soap kept getting confused why Ghost was calling him an expert (Perito). It didn’t stop the blush that always crept up his face though.
And when Ghost says that over the comms and hears an amused chuckle from Alejandro, well no one really has to know..

I was doing research for a Roach headcannon post when i noticed this:
(Sorry, I know its hard to see)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The scarf that Roach is wearing here in his COD2(?) model looks almost identical to the one seen here on Ghost’s MW2 model.
I’m probably not the first to have noticed this but I haven’t seen anyone else post about it here, so if someone has let me know and I’ll tag them.
I wonder if they’re gonna incorporate this into the new storyline. Still a cool detail though!

Were LAN parties of the late 90s/early 2000s really that lit? What was being played? Doom? Quake?
Yes! I was in a competitive COD:UO & COD2 clan. I hosted a LAN party at my house and some of the guys had driven from like 12 hours away. It was so much fun.
