the seat that we just spent the last month+ travelling 2 hours every night to canvas and build for came down to 35 votes last night and was finally called for a recount at 1am which is starting in a couple hours and jfc ranked choice voting is fantastic, but my god the drama
#at one point after surplus redistribution there was only one vote difference like HELLO#anyway the fact that we got this far in a constituency that was redrawn last year to include two more rural areas?#no one expected it so like credit to the work cdes have done in actually talking to people and agitating for fighting movements#like we're fighting it out against a local from one of the newly co-opted areas#so the fact that that area didn't just default fall in line is a massive testament to our political program#i would have gone down to the count if I could have - this shit is bananas#anyway i'm going back to the us for christmas in a few days and my goose is cooked i'm just gonna be comatose the entire time

you can tell things are bad because i've started doing modern au stuff again. anyway i think froi's the kind of teenager who actually irons his uniform. like he wears those grey trousers and those things are pressed. his shirts too
#yr 12 jersey no blazer ever. none of the relevant high school age characters wear them except grijio & florenza who are both the type of#guy to wear their blazer with like eight badges. school captain chic. phaedra switches to pants in winter because it's cold & it's practica#& quintana wears the same non-uniform jacket/hoodie every day. non-conformist queen#as a general rule i find the actual high school part of modern aus pretty whatever. but i like thinking about how they wear uniforms. mostl#because it lets me think about how they present themselves while also giving me a base to work off of. which is good because fashion is not#an area i know anything about lol (outside of what i personally go in for)#(re froi i think he picked it up from august aged like 15 & now he can't stop even when q&co. are like ??? lol.)

#finished day four of a seven day straight stint at work#and I am so fucking exhausted already#on top of being the one responsible for most of our cats#I've also been charged with caring for two puppies who have been fighting parvovirus#and an eight-month old juvenile dog with a bullet fragment in his spine who may never regain the use of his back legs#and my supervisor as well as one of my co-workers who I'd normally be able to split some of this work with will be off#which is only going to leave me and another co-worker covering cats as well as the three dogs we've been assigned to#and this co-worker flat refuses to work with dogs at all and will only work one area of cats#he won't even handle giving out any medications or anything#which means I'll be doing the majority of the work in cats#my one saving grace is that I can get someone from dogs to help me with the dog with the bullet in his spine if need be#since once I've had contact with the puppies that have parvo I won't be allowed contact with any other dog there#I have some PTO time#I'm seriously thinking about taking some of it

#saskia plays starfield#i had a lot of fun last night tbh#i started the uc questline and i was pleasantly surprised how the quests where written tbh#i had a lot of personal conversations with my companions which i loved! her background and some perk she has coming up during dialogue#i did the mantis quest which was awesome#just! yesterday was great#but today. god so many instances where i was just dissociating through them loading screens again#counting damn sheep until my protag finally managed to walk 8787m through an empty planet to reach some quest area.....#it feels like im doing work sometimes which is not good#just. there is so much where im like ''god i cant wait until there is a mod for that'' dunno man. rather would have bugs rn than that#the beginning is so slow and then it becomes good. just to be constantly disrupted by its flaws#and dont get me started how unfortunate it is that new atlantis is the central hub and first impression the player gets of the game#the blandest city i have encountered yet#there are just. a couple things where i just dont understand what toddy and co. where thinking#actually i do understand but i wish it was different. oh well#sorry about the rant if anyone is reading this lmaooooo#i just hope tomorrow will be a good starfield day again. i paid enough money for this damn game#just imagine how this game could be if it where all on one map like bethy games usually are. i cannot imagine i would rant about it

becoming a data hoarder of crochet/knitting/sewing/embroidery patterns and books on my pc, laptop and phone. an ungodly amount fr.
#also finding good patterns for like 2 dollars at thrift stores and getting books out from the library has been VERY helpful#and so many have maker spaces#where you can sew/weave/embroider/whatever#the one at my local library is mega cool#cos the council realized the suburb next to mine (mine is too small to have a village center like the others so theirs is ours)#had been promised a new mall makeover and a new pool and a new bunch of stuff#and hadnt been given anything in like. decades.#and is also a suburb where a lot of working class and low income families live#so they went ''okay we should. do something and actually support this section''#and thats how we got our new million dollar suburb center building with a new library/cafe/preschool/pool/maker space#and suddenly people have a reason to stay in the area and spend more time at shops and have a study space#available right next to a park and a place for community and information!!!#and everyone is happier and spending more money at the surrounding shops because theyre visiting more often#like that whole project took 2 years but it was so worth it the maker space rules its got a recording booth and a 3dprintet and an engraver#a loom and all these other woodcraft/textile stuff#and i see teenagers from the 3 surrounding schools coming in to record music and/or rent out instruments!#and do carving and sewing and book clubs!!#and have a place to study!#when i was in hs we would walk down to the mall get sushi and sit in a field bcos there was nothing to do#now people from the same high school i have can access all this stuff!#and more online to print out#and partake in healthy hobbies and its like fuck!!! it makes me so happy!!!#all this to say if anyone wants a pattern for smth i can probs find a free one/one costing a few dollars by an indie creator

#so a coworker of mine that ive been having quite a few various issues with the past few months seemingly got fired today#(i cant confirm he was fired but between the phrasing of his departure email and him not putting in a two weeks it seems like he was fired)#and it honestly feels like a massive weight has been lifted off of my chest#(despite knowing we still have a long way to go in terms of inclusivity as a whole organisation but im hopeful to make changes with that)#cos i know that our clients (at least legally) are going to be getting the best help possible between me and our other legal advocate#and im hoping that now that his (honestly) oppressive energy is gone the environment at the office will be much nicer to work in#im just worried about potentially getting overwhelmed or incredibly busy cos ill have to take his existing clients#and any new ones needing help in my specific service areas cos im now the only person serving these areas#but ill handle that if it happens#i just feel like i can breathe and that ill feel a lot more comfortable being myself at work#also our supervisor has been out all week while being on vacation so she is gonna come back on monday to a real big surprise#anyway sorry for the rant#but these prompts are lowkey my diary so kind of not sorry#anyhoo back to our regularly scheduled programming#the prompt gives the feeling of the 'churchyard' (whether the church or the cemetery) pulling people or souls or corpses in to feed on#and for me there is the added theme or element of abuse through the word 'churchyard' reminding me of the song of the same name by aurora#there is just a lot to play around with here#definitely more than there appears to be on the surface#aurora#aurora aksnes#aurora music#infections of a different kind#thanks for reading#writing#writer#creative writing#writing prompt#writeblr#trying to be a writeblr at least
