The opening of the new Co-op Live arena in Manchester has been cancelled for the third time.

And they made the announcement about 20 minutes after doors opened, meaning that they told people to leave the area while they were already there queuing.

Seriosuly, this is so embarrassing and beyond unprofessional!

The last time TPi covered a Niall Horan show, the world was in the throes of a global lockdown, which meant that going to gigs was an experience we could only reminisce on. Back then, the singer-songwriter and his crew had decided to support the wider live events workforce by staging a live stream that fundraised for WE NEED CREW [see TPi #257]. Almost three years later and with the industry back to full strength, descending on Manchester’s Co-Op Live to witness a full-capacity show with all the bells and whistles felt like a full-circle moment.

With the tour 73 dates into its 87-show run, Production Manager Andy Colby ruminated on the tour as it approached its curtain call. “It’s been a busy year. The guys and the girls on this tour have been amazing. It’s been a long slog, but everyone has really pulled together, and it’s been a great tour,” he began, reserving special praise for Stage Manager, Torin Arnold. “He, like all the crew, has worked so hard across this tour, and we’ve been lucky to have him.”

Beyoncé is doing a residency at the Sphere soon and releasing a new country album next month. I think Harry is dropping something during the summer but not before that. Columbia likes to space out when their big 3 release music. Her doing the Sphere residency makes me think Harry could as well.

Oh, I’d be really surprised if he didn’t do a residency there. And at Co-Op Live in Manchester. The timing is perfect—both venues have had enough time to work out any bugs and he’ll have a brand new album to promote.

the co-op instagram posted recently it will open december 2023. december 7th will be its first show. guessing probably harry will open it since he’s an investor

i feel quite bad for people who spend hundreds or thousands on gigs that end up being cancelled or rearranged so that they can't participate, but i mainly feel bad because someone in their life should have told them "never pay more money for a single event than you're happy to lose."

not that i blame them for being naive, but they should have been taught how easily plans get changed and how little businesses can be trusted

Since Harry is one of its investors, do you think when he does a live show in Manchester in the future, he would choose there? I mean it’s capacity is limited for such a big crowd Harry had last time (it was a Beautiful open air gig 🤩)

I wouldn’t be surprised. But if it’s that small, it might just be a special event, as opposed to where he regularly plays. My internet is crap where I am, so I can’t get info on the size right now.
