Romance Club MC's as Greek deities:
Emma as Clymene (or Asia):
Goddess of Fame and Renown 🌟
Clymene (or Klymene) was a Titan goddess in Greek mythology, daughter of the Titans Oceanus and Tethys, thus making her an Oceanid. She was the goddess of renown, fame, and infamy. She was married to the Titan Iapetus, and they had four sons, Atlas, Epimetheus, Prometheus and Menoetius. Clymene was also called Asia and in this guise identified as the Goddess of Anatolia. In ancient Greek vase paintings she appeared as a handmaiden of Hera. Emma was chosen for obvious reasons, as we can see her trying to achieve fame at all costs in My Hollywood Story.

Kinda interesting that besides the former King Cronus and Queen Rhea, Theia and Hyperion are assumingly the only couple who were able to have a lineage mighty enough for their children to be the personification of the Sun, Moon, and Dawn respectively. Not to mention being able to KEEP that role despite no obvious alliance with Zeus during the Titanomachy. (Helios and Selene get semi-replaced by Apollo and Artemis but still maintain their positions enough that Helios has a role in Hephaestus, Demeter, and Heracles' stories) (also Zeus never seeks out a replacement for Eos as the goddess of Dawn which makes me think that they are amiable with each other)
Compare that to Iapetus' four sons getting fucked in four different directions, Coeus and Phoebe's only real relevance being Leto and their grandchildren by Zeus and being grandparents to Hecate, Oceanus and Tethys producing and losing Metis while their other numerous children play minor to adequate roles, and Crius' sons merely being "husbands" to more well-known deities (Eos, Styx, Asteria). (Astraios being the biggest research disappointment because you'd think the husband of the Goddess of Dawn would be the God of Dusk and have an active role during sunset but no, he's just a God of the stars sadly).
(Of course, there are also Themis' and Mnemosyne's daughters by Zeus, who are very important, but like Leto's case it helps that their children's father is the King of The Gods and Zeus x Titanesses is almost 99% guarantee they get good roles) (then there's Prometheus Bound where Prometheus' mother is Themis only which is cool but I mostly consider Clymene as his mother)

Do you have in mind to which Titan/Deity couple to be Rhea's Parents?
Since you picked Clymene and Iapetus as Hera's Parents in your AU (Still deciding on who should be Hera, Demeter, and Hestia's Parents that shouldn't be Cronus and Rhea), ya ever thought of giving Rhea some Parents that isn't Uranus and Gaia?
In my SpongeBob AU, Rhea is the Daughter of Eurynome (The Titaness of Water) and Ophion (The Serpent Titan).
Eurynome and Ophion were the First Titan Rulers until Cronus and Rhea took over their rule. In my AU, it's similar to that, only this time, Rhea doesn't overthrow her Parents in my version with the help of her Husband, Cronus and Rhea's own Parents just let their Kids take over the World for them (you know, like generations of being a Ruler/Leader).
But unless if you want to do the same for Eurynome and Ophion as Rhea's Parents, we could at least share that if ya want. ;)
Honestly, I hadn't thought about that until now
Eurynome and Ophion as Rhea's parents definitely sounds like an interesting idea
I'll have to think about it some more though 😅

Character Intro: Pheme (Kingdom of Ichor)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nicknames- Bottom Feeder by Hades
Sweetheart by her parents
My little diamond by Pseudologos
Age- 21 (immortal)
Location- Skyline district, New Olympus
Personality- She can be very vain, narcissistic, and shallow at times. She’s also extremely talkative and nosy, prideful of herself for knowing everybody’s business in Olympius from an A-list deity to the most unassuming mortal. She’s single.
Being the goddess of fame, she has exceptional gossip skills. She can make people famous or in a higher position with her words. If crossed, she can make people unpopular & infamous through rumors. As well as having the power of flight (due to her shimmering silver wings), she can also teleport through cameras, phones, and mirrors, & can sense a person’s reputation.
She's well aware how some of the other gods overlook her & her abilities.
In New Olympus, Pheme lives in an opulent mansion in the Skyline district with over a thousand windows so she can see everything that’s going on. She also owns a fashionable condo in the Queenstown district as well as beach houses in Delos, Shimmering Tail Island, & Lemnos. She does have pets- dogs and all of them are girls. There's a bichon frise named Jewel, a shih tzu named Cashmere, a maltipoo named Dulce, & a chihuahua named Sparkle.
Pheme has her own private plane nicknamed "The Jet-Setter."
She doesn't have that close of a relationship with her parents- Elpis (goddess of hope) and Dolos (god of deception & trickery), but she does love them. Other members of Pheme's immediate family includes grandfather Pseudologos (god of lies), her great-uncle Logos (god of stories), and her first cousin Eikono (goddess of iconography & literature).
Pheme runs a popular morning podcast called Morning Tea as well as a late night talk show called The Godly Hour, watched by millions with the ratings only being rivaled by The Agnostic Network. She also runs a successful tabloid magazine called The Oracle Scoop. Pheme is a frequent writer of Modern Olympus magazine as well as The Acropolis Street Ledger. She's also a co-chair of the Olympus Gala, one of the biggest events in all of Olympius!
Pheme also runs the second biggest production companies- being responsible for some of the TV shows & movies that are being put out, including the critically panned, but incredibly popular The Dynasty of the Vain & Powerful.
Her favorite place in the entire world is her main closet, which is filled with clothes. Pheme also has separate closets for her cosmetics, handbags, shoes, & jewelry. She almost never wears the same outfit twice.
She’s the third most followed goddess on Fatestagram.
Pheme has a personal assistant, Cleta (goddess of whispers), who essentially does all the snooping & dirty work for her. She also has her own crew of paparazzi and photographers.
Her go-to drink is a mimosa. She also likes caramel lattes, cosmopolitans, gin & tonics, champagne, and classic martinis. Her usuals from The Roasted Bean is a cappuccino & a large caramel latte.
A guilty pleasure is yellowtail sashimi, stopping by The Ocean Roll for a go-to order.
Her go-to meal is lobster filled ravioli with shrimp served with a side of foie gras.
She's friends with Narcissus (a mortal & popular model), Móda (goddess of fashion), Chrysos (god of gold & riches), Apate (goddess of fraud & deception), Pandora (the immortal mortal model), Aoide (goddess of voice & song), Calypso, Adephagia (goddess of gluttony), Momus (god of mockery, satire, & ridicule) with her greatest frenemy being Aphrodite (goddess of love & beauty). Pheme's also friends with two of Helios' daughters- Phaethusa and Lampetia.
She’s a former protege of Clymene (Titaness of fame & renown), who was her official mentor.
Her relationship with Hera (goddess of women & marriage) is strained. It started after she walked in on Pheme and Zeus (god of the sky, thunder, & lightning) kissing, under the guise of a business meeting. Pheme blames it on being a bit tipsy after drinking three glasses of champagne.
She once spent over thirty million drachmas in a single shopping spree!
Pheme has her own glamour doll collectibles!
Her favorite treat to indulge in is the opulent sundae, with a 68,000 drachma price tag, this frozen treat is made with vanilla ice cream, saffron, black truffle, champagne rose sorbet, chocolate vodka sauce drizzled on top and sprinkled with edible 24 karat gold flakes. She gets it from The Luxe.
She had a one night stand with Charon (Ferryman of the Underworld), which she thinks about often.
Pheme has the third-most worn fashion line, after Aphrodite and Hera. Her line Diamond Ave. (which includes clothes, shoes, cosmetics, jewelry, accessories, eyewear, & handbags) has gained popularity but has received much criticism due to the outlandish prices of the products (like paying nearly 800 drachmas a pop for a pair of shoes)! There's even custom shoes, where the soles are encrusted in miniature diamonds. There are store locations in the Underworld.
A popular item of her brand is called "The Diamond Dress"- a nude colored mermaid style dress made with organza and chiffon is covered in nearly 1,000 different extravagant diamonds. There's a 130-carat yellow canary diamond in the center of the bosom. The Diamond Dress is an archived piece at the NOMMA.
In her free time Pheme likes shopping, going to the spa, skiing, going to the cinema, swimming, going to the theater, tennis, listening to music, sailing, tanning, clubbing, & dining out.
“If you lose a friend, you can buy 100 more.”

sooo i found this on twt and im curious about your opinion on it; https://twitter.com/windflowerlia/status/1478965838380249090?t=SlBMF-U5SbbmevNHaUnWeA&s=19
do you think its himmel, venti faking his death, or just a grave of a random character we still don't know of? 🤔
Link
I thought it would be the nameless bard at first but it would be weird to just instantly point out it’s venti/nb because bards are very common in teyvat.
You can actually talk to orpheus himself if you wanna know!
But for a short answer for your question: this is a different character but has a similar resemblance to venti
Ngl i would like to think that if nb was alive after the archon war, there’s a chance he would be the Anemo archon 🤭👀
Here’s one conversation with orpheus i snapped that caught my interest (also long theorizing under the cut)
Tumblr media
What i would like to think of these seven children— or just byakoyakoku in general— is that they are somewhat similar to honkai’s “Previous Era” because byakuyakoku’s civilization has existed after Phanes created the human world from its shell— and maybe the celestia as well— then proceeded to annihilate the rest of the dragon sovereigns
Though this island nation has sunk when they were terrorized by the dragonheir. Phanes doesn’t heard their pleas, however, along the way, they are progressing with the help of Tokoyo (istaroth) by giving enough wisdom to Abrax (abarakusu) to create the hyperion.
This is where the seven sunchildren enter. The people of enkanomiya were power hungry and wants to rule over the place so they planned to create a religion where they would worship Helios as a god, and Abrax as the prophet who created the hyperion, and then the establishment of the leaders called Phaetons (sunchildren)
It was part of the elders’ plan to pick children as the leaders since they’re easily manipulated and are simply used as a scapegoat in case something wrong happens. So they can pretty much get away with anything. The elders knew that if they grow up and discovered they were manipulated by them, it’ll be over. So they once again planned by creating this special ritual where they would be brought up to the helios and burned to ashes.
The elders DO NOT want these sunchildren to get help or support from adults for them to become proper leader, hence the reason why the people “detest” them as clymene mentioned due to their unfit to rule the nation.
Abrax saw all of this and wants to stop them but the elders took this chance to use the children as a puppet letting them think that abrax was there to claim their position. He was then imprisoned and died.
Doesn’t this remind you of a certain deity?
Elders= celestia
Seven Sunchildren= seven archons
It seems like celestia has followed the footsteps of the elders and wants to continue this principle and custom. They really wanted to be the highest among the deities or gods
Do not question the heavens
Heaven is not to be challenged
Wisdom is concealed in stellar fragments
The God of Justice lives for the spectacle of the courtroom, seeking to judge all other gods. But even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine
Celestia is really watchful of the archons’, controlling and manipulating them. And they also get to decide who’ll be the next archon in their respective nation
Let me also add this analogy of the sunchildren being described as “unfit to rule the nation” to the archons of teyvat
Decarabian- tyrant
Ei/beelzebul- also a tyrant
Tsaritsa- lost her love for her people and became heartless
God of justice/focalor- perhaps always seeking to find the “mistakes” of the archons just to judge them however she please?
Venti- perhaps becoming too careless with these freedom ideal he has to the point mond has been in a danger twice (?) when he was asleep
I’m worried about venti because he knows celestia is dangerous and he’s becoming wary of them. Perhaps he already knows their origin and decided to keep it to himself? He does, after all, seen the fall of khaenri’ah.
Mondstadt in general is in grave danger sigh. There was this “Great Fire of Fall Equinox” where Mondstadt has a giant library. They all have sorts of books and perhaps also has “Before Sun and Moon” but was burned because it’s odd Enjou mentioned this before the quest ended.
Tumblr media
It’s highly likely that enjou’s the one behind this fire incident.
Mondstadt has two khaenri’ahn characters, an elf who’s knowledgeable about the world of teyvat and decides to traverse in different worlds, Durin attacking mondstatd, and that one big ass statue he has in the plaza with the words “gateway to celestia”…
Oh venti you and your nation are fucking doomed and i hate where this would be going when we’re close to the ending

What is a “Universal Offering/Devotional Act?”
Feel free to request or suggest deities! This list will be done in order but you can ask for me to complete one that’s further down the list.
This list is subject to change. There are probably repeat deities (deities who go by multiple names, parts of groups like the Horae or Charities who are mostly grouped together, etc.) on this list. Some deities are not on here. Some names are spelt wrong or different.

Everything Mythologically Inaccurate about Clash of the Titans (2010)
Another movie that I adore, but let’s pick it apart anyway.
This movie is called Clash of the Titans and yet, there are no titans
Sometimes being made into a constellation is an honor in Ancient Greek myths and sometimes it’s a punishment, it kind of depends
A vague description of the Titanomachy, but okay.
Fun fact: in Greek mythology, each generation is thought to be less powerful than the previous one as we get further and further away from the original source. Creator deities, like Gaia, are stronger than the Titans, who are stronger than the gods, who are stronger than humans. Which is why the only way for the next generation to usurp the older one is through trickery.
Unfortunately for humans, Zeus has Metis, the og goddess of wisdom, in his head making him super clever on top of being very powerful, which is why every attempt to overthrow him fails
Anyway, moving on.
Nope. nope. Nope. nope.
First of all. The Kraken is NORSE. It’s not even a Greek sea monster, what is it doing here?? Cetus is RIGHT THERE
Second. Hades did what now??? Birthed it from his own flesh what does that even mean???
The Titans were defeated by Zeus because he broke the Cyclops and Hecatonchires out of Tartarus. The Cyclops made his lightning bolts, Poseidon’s trident, and Hades’ helm. The Hecatonchires are ridiculously strong and have a hundred arms and fifty heads each, so. no sea monsters
Again, why does Hades get associated with monsters so much?? Poseidon is LITERALLY the father of monsters what the hell is this
“Tricked” by Zeus?? I mean, maybe. They drew lots to determine who would rule each realm
Darkness and misery?? I mean, Hades is also god of riches, jewels, and gold, so it’s really not that bad of a gig. He’s the ruler of everything under the earth
In most versions of myth, it’s Prometheus who created humans, not Zeus
Either way, human prayer does not power the gods’ immortality. The gods represent forces of nature and their power is tied to their realm, not human belief. They demand prayers and offerings as signs of respect like kings demanding tribute
Although Zeus’ symbol is an eagle, it’s not a bald eagle, those only live in North America. Zeus’ eagle would probably be a European Golden Eagle
Okay, about Perseus. He was found adrift in a box, but his mother, Danae, was alive and they washed ashore on the island of Seriphos, where they were taken in by the fisherman Dictys (who is sometimes a son of Poseidon) and his wife, Clymene.
Oh, I love the idea that, as a son of Zeus, Perseus can feel thunderstorms in his chest, it’s not supported by the myths, but I love it
why does everyone have british accents???
I see we’re doing a Superman/Moses childhood story again for our demigod hero why do people keep doing this stop killing off the mothers of heroes
This movie is obviously very culturally tied to Modern America as opposed to Ancient Greece, so you can bet there aren’t many speeches in Greek mythology where they speak about the gods like they’re fascists
Again, the cultural understanding of the gods of Ancient Greece is that they represent natural forces, which can either help or harm humanity, but they’re rarely outright malicious unless you say things like that
Narratives about the poor and oppressed rising up to fight for liberty, or whatever, are very popular in America for various reasons, but not in Greek myth, so this is kind of jarring
Not to say that humans don’t try to rise up and fight their rulers in these myths, they do, but it’s usually portrayed as a very foolish and fatal thing to do
You cannot fight Poseidon anymore than you can fight a hurricane
In an Ancient Greek myth, a fisherman who was doing poorly would probably try and figure out if he’d offended the gods somehow and make an offering to them, instead of loudly complaining and making vague threats towards the gods’ authority—especially when you have clearly been gifted the child of one to care for
Everyone else is British, but Perseus is… Australian???
(an extremely short hairstyle like Perseus has here is historically associated with enslavement)
I’m pretty sure that statue is supposed to be The Colossus of Rhodes, which is actually a statue of Helios and was supposedly destroyed by an earthquake
Okay a) there are only three Furies and b) did they just. combine into Hades??? wtf
Why is Hades here?? It’s not his statue. Zeus can handle his own karmic punishments
And why did he destroy the boat?? They literally had nothing to do with it, why would he care?
Perseus’ family is alive and well in the myths, I’m just saying, this was unnecessary
In some myths, like the Iliad, Zeus is the atributor of fate, sometimes it’s The Fates, but ultimately Zeus has a lot of power to fuck humans up, so this really shouldn’t be an issue
Is that pre-fame LUKE EVANS AS APOLLO??? Hell yeah
I really really hate the character designs for the gods, they’re boring
Hades why do you CARE?? Why are you HERE?? Where is PERSEPHONE??
Literally when has Zeus ever once cared about humanity’s opinion this much
Do… do each of the gods have little statues of their favorite humans?? That’s so cute
Sending Hades to fuck shit up would never happen, that dude is busy okay? Can’t they just send the Furies? Or literally any of the hundreds of spirits and deities of Bad Things that they have power over??
This is the equivalent of the ocean suddenly getting nervous that humans don’t like it anymore, it’s kind of silly
Pretty sure they based the design of Argos on Ancient Athens judging by the port and the trireme, that’s pretty cool
Oh god, they’re literally breaking every known hospitality rule with Perseus here, Homer would be horrified
Mythological Greek Rules of Hospitality:
If a stranger appears, offer them food, drink, new clothes, and a place to sleep for the night
No questions are to be asked until the stranger has been properly fed at least
The host is expected to offer them a gift as well as transportation to their next destination
“Man cannot rule man” where the fuck did they pick that up?? Not only can man rule man, but they are Expected by the gods to lead and protect their people
This just reeks of American Exceptionalism
Andromeda is the only one even trying to follow proper hospitality rules, I love her
Yes you should be afraid Cassiopeia you’re literally spitting into the eye of a fucking thunderstorm here
The gods are nature?? They determine the tides and the crops?? Yes obviously you need them, wtf kind of argument is this
Cassiopeia calling her daughter more beautiful than the gods is Exactly what happens in the myth, although she said that Andromeda was more beautiful than Poseidon’s daughters, the Nereids, not Aphrodite, but that’s fair
Wait wait wait LOOK painted statues!! They have actual painted statues in that room!! HOLY SHIT, good for you set designers!
Again, why is Hades here?? He’s way too busy to be here doing Zeus’ job
That was a terrible phalanx, y’all should be ashamed of yourselves
Cassiopeia asks who Hades is as if every Greek mythological character ever isn’t able to recognize divinity purely from vibes
Athena basically does this to Achilles in the Iliad. Achilles is a couple stanzas from murdering Agamemnon and Athena appears out of nowhere, grabs him by the hair, and tells him to chill the fuck out
Obviously, Io can’t do that here because Perseus has no hair
What is more beautiful than death?? Uh, your wife, Hades. That’s a dumb question
I see we’re confusing Hades, god of the dead, with Thanatos, god of death, again today
Destroy the city or sacrifice the princess is myth accurate, although Andromeda is actually the princess of Ethiopia, not Argos—that’s right, she’s not Greek, and by rights she should have black skin
In fact, the name Ethiopia is Greek for “burnt face.” In Homer, Ethiopians were thought to have darker skin because they lived closer to the home of the sun. Ethiopia is also where the gods regularly go to throw week-long ragers
Perseus was actually born on Argos and his mother, Danae is the princess there
Hades is really here outing Perseus’ divine status like this as if Myth!Perseus wasn’t fully aware of his parentage from day one
Hermes is really here informing Zeus about his offspring as if he isn’t fully aware of every child he’s ever sired at all times (well, the male ones anyway)
Also how the fuck does HADES recognize Perseus as a demigod before Zeus??
If YOU didn’t even know you were his father, Zeus, how the fuck do you expect HIM to know??
They’re all awfully mean to Perseus about his demigod status, that doesn’t seem right
Well if you’re gonna put it like that Perseus, everyone is killed by a god. Because there’s a GOD OF DEATH
Okay, Io has nothing to do with the Perseus myth, but I love her character so I’ll allow it
Io tells Perseus she was raped by a god but fails to mention that it was HIS FATHER and also then she got turned into a cow by Hera and was forced to wander the world—none of this functional immortality stuff
btw Io eventually marries an Egyptian king and gets the love she deserves, so that’s pretty cool for her
Okay, let’s clear a few things up here: King Acrisius is Perseus’ grandfather and the father of Danae (not her husband, wtf). He is given a prophecy that his grandson will kill him so he locks Danae in an underground cellar as a form of birth control. Zeus takes that as a challenge, I guess, and impregnates her by turning into a shower of gold or sometimes seeds. Acrisius locks Danae and her child into a wooden box and throws them into the ocean
They seem to be confusing Perseus’ birth story with Heracles
Also they frame this as some kind of punishment for Acrisius trying to storm Olympus—as if the mythological characters who actually tried that weren’t blasted out of the sky—and not just, Zeus being permanently horny
The body you soiled??? Fucking hell. Do you have any idea how many husbands have been cuckolded by Zeus and they took it as a compliment?? And also didn’t kill their wives for something they had no control over??
Acrisius is eventually killed accidentally by Perseus who is competing in the basically Olympics and throws a discus into the crowd, instantly killing the grandfather he never met
DANAE LIVED, DAMMIT
See, this storyline would make more sense if this was Achilles—the demigod who should have been King of the Gods—Myth!Perseus has no reason to be angry with the gods
I don’t know where the Stygian Witches came from, but she means the Grey Sisters, so that’s on track with the myths—Stygian implies they have something to do with the river Styx, which they DON’T
They’re talking about killing a Norse monster and yet, Draco’s hair is totally accurate, how the hell did that happen
btw, the constellation Draco is actually Ladon, the dragon that guards the Garden of the Hesperides and the Golden Apples of Immortality
Is that pre-fame NICHOLAS HOULT??
These random fuckers show up claiming to have killed the Nemean Lion, a centaur, and the Hydra which are all things Heracles did, but Heracles is Perseus’ great-grandson
They totally made up “Calibos” for the movie, okay, I don’t know why, there are plenty of monsters to choose from
As I said in the Hercules (1997) post, Hades is not the one who tries to overthrow Zeus, that’s HERA
I shouldn’t have to tell you that breathing black smoke into people to give them superpowers is not a thing Hades does (although, now that I think about it, it IS a thing Apollo does in the Iliad to get Hector to win battles)
Okay, the part with the flute cracks me up every time, this movie has no right to be this funny
Perseus gets his sword and other gear from Athena, but okay, a random meadow works too I guess
And for the last time, Pegasus is BELLEROPHON'S horse. He isn’t even born until Perseus’ cuts off Medusa’s head
Usually when the gods want people to know they’re paying attention they send birds
Monsters sprouting from blood is actually a thing in Greek myth, although it’s usually titan blood, but a scorpion created by Gaia did kill Orion
I love this fight because everyone’s getting thrown around in short skirts with their thighs flashing everywhere like Homer intended
Okay now they’re just screwing with me, Djinn?? As in the Arabic folklore creatures???
Excuse me, the LEGION?? What are you, Roman??
This hippie cult dude is throwing Christian values into this Greek Mythology story and I’m not about that
Coins over the eyes for the dead is actually a much later and largely Catholic practice, in Greece a single coin was placed under the tongue
They’re just making shit up about the Djinn now, they’re not even trying
Why does Io speak Djinn?? Why are the ARABIC Djinn under the control of the GREEK gods???
I’m sorry. Did he say the Norn Mountains?? As in the Norns?? The Norse triplicate goddesses of the past, present, and future?? What is happening
“The garden of the stygia” what bullshit.
Oooooh shit, is that a giant HAND made of rock?? Are they implying that all the shattered rock is actually shattered TITANS?? Not myth accurate but COOL AS FUCK
In the Perseus myth, the goal is to get Medusa’s head, not kill any sea monsters. And Perseus originally goes on the quest to protect his mother, which is sweet. But this is pretty much exactly how the interaction with the Grey Sisters goes in the myth—except he asks them where Medusa lives
Medusa does not live across the river Styx what the fuck are you talking about
Did the grey sisters just say that MEDUSA and the KRAKEN are TITANS??? Excuse me, no.
You will die? That’s the vaguest fucking prophecy I’ve ever heard. He’s mortal, no shit
To be fair, the Grey Sisters said Perseus would die, not the rest of y’all
Oddly enough, old beggar Zeus is an accurate Zeus, well done
The rules for demigods becoming gods are so vague, like in the Iliad, Zeus can’t even save his son from dying, but then in Dionysus’ myth, he becomes a god after inventing wine—so I don’t fucking know—he probably wouldn’t do it to offer “sactuary” though
Perseus’ little speech here is actually the whole point of the Iliad. Gods have no idea what it means to be human, it’s not pursuit of glory, it’s living, fighting, and dying for the people you care about
Are those PEOPLE pulling the boat of the dead?? And why. The fuck. Is Charon. Always. A skeleton???
Okay we have to talk about Medusa for a second. The story Io tells here comes from Ovid, who is Roman and writing much later. All of his stories paint the gods in a cruel, oppressive light that didn’t necessarily represent who they were to the Greeks. Medusa according to earlier Greek writings was never mortal and was born a gorgon, the daughter of Phorcys and Ceto, along with her two sisters. In fact the gorgon’s head has been a symbol for millenia, as the Aegis shield carried by Zeus and Athena in order to terrify their enemies, which is probably where the “turning to stone” idea came from
Oh and this temple and men-only thing is totally made up for the movie, Medusa lives in a cave
It’s actually unclear what Medusa’s body looks like, there are snake women in Greek myth however, like Echidna, the Mother of Monsters
I love when characters spar and flirt at the same time
Okay, but why the fuck would you bring bows to fight Medusa?? You can’t aim at what you can’t look at
Since when is Medusa an archer?
I’m just gonna say it, the snake bra is weird
There’s the mirror shield, finally.
Cetus, btw, isn’t a squid like the Kraken, it’s described as looking like a whale
Perseus is right actually, immortals can’t be killed but they can be banished or overwise stripped of power
You know, I’m glad they didn’t push a romantic relationship between Perseus and Andromeda, even though in the myth they get married. I like that they’re friends
She will make a fine queen, her name literally means Ruler of Men
This movie is so dumb, but it ticks so many of my boxes, I love it

Helios – Greek God of the Sun
Tumblr media
Picture https://www.deviantart.com/giye/art/HELIOS-149628354
In Greek mythology, Helios was the personification of the Sun and one of the strongest Titan gods. He is often portrayed as a handsome young man driving a chariot with four horses across the sky from the east to the west. Known as ‘the sun god’, Helios was also the god of sight and the guardian of oaths.
Helios didn’t play a major role in Greek mythology since he was gradually replaced by Apollo after the Olympian gods took over from the Titans. However, he does appear as a side character in the myths of mortals and other gods.
Who was Helios?
Helios was born to Theia, the goddess of sight and Hyperion, the Titan god of light. He was the brother of Eos, the goddess of the dawn, and Selene, goddess of the moon. Helios is described as a handsome god with bright, curly hair and piercing eyes.
Symbols of Helios
Helios’ most popular symbol is his chariot. Drawn by several horses, Helios rides the golden Sun Chariot each day, crossing the sky from East to West which is symbolic of the sun’s journey.
Another popular symbol of Helios is the horse, the animal that pulls the chariot across the sky. Helios has four horses – Aethon (Blazing), Aeos (He who turns the sky), Phlegon (Burning) and Pyrois (Fiery One).
Helios is also represented by aureoles, which refers to the rays of light often drawn around the heads of certain deities.
Tumblr media
Helios’ Lovers and Children
Helios was married to the Oceanid Perse, but had several mistresses. Other sources say that he didn’t necessarily have a wife but had many lovers instead. Some of the most well-known women associated with Helios include:
Perse – Helios and Perse were married and had around four children.
Clymene – One of Helios’ mistresses, Clymen bore him several children, including Phaethon and the Heliades.
Clytie – A consort of Helios’ who eventually lost his love and died from sorrow. She eventually turned into the heliotrope, a flower which follows the journey of the sun during the day.
Rhode – The nymph of the island of Rhodes, Rhode bore Helios seven sons and a daughter.
Helios had several children, including:
Lampetia – The goddess of light.
Phaethusa – The personification of the blinding rays of the sun.
Aeetes – A Colchis king through whom Helios became the grandfather to Medea, the sorceress.
Perses – Who was slain by his paternal niece, Medea.
Circe – A sorceress who could use incantations and drugs to change humans into lions, swine and wolves.
Pasiphae – The wife of King Minos and mother of the Minotaur.
Phaethon – Known for trying to ride Helios’ chariot and dying in the process. Arguably the most famous child of Helios.
Myths Featuring Helios
Helios doesn’t play a central role in many myths, but makes frequent appearances as a side character in the story of others. Here are some popular myths featuring Helios.
The Cattle of Helios
Odysseus and his men were cast ashore on the island, Thrinacia. Helios had a large herd of cattle and he had forbidden anyone to touch them. However, Odysseus’ men didn’t take the warning seriously and while Odysseus was asleep, they captured a few of the cows and roasted the meat. Helios was greatly angered by this and went to Zeus to ask for vengeance.
When Odysseus and his men were leaving the island, a thunderbolt struck their ship, destroying it beyond repair. All Odysseus’ men perished, with only Odysseus surviving the event. He was spared as he had been the only one who hadn’t disobeyed Helios, since he had been fast asleep when his men hunted the cattle.
Helios and Heracles
As the Greek hero Heracles was crossing the desert to steal the cattle of the monster Geryon, as one of his Twelve Labors, he found Helios’ heat difficult to bear. Annoyed, he began to shoot arrows at Helios, who promised to help him if he would stop it. Heracles complied and the sun god gave him a golden cup which would help him to cross water on the way to the cattle. Heracless used the golden cup to sail across the seas.
Helios and Poseidon
Helios was a competitive god as were most of the gods of the Greeek pantheon. In one instance, he is said to have sought the sacrifices of Corinth. However, he had to compete for this against Poseidon, god of the sea.
The competition between Helios and Poseidon for the sacrifices of Corinth was so fierce and violent that Briareus, the mediator, decided that the acropolis of the city of Corinth would be given to Helios and the Isthmus would be for Poseidon.
Phaethon and the Unbreakable Oath
The story of Helios’ son Phaethon is probably one of the best known myths involving the sun god. Phaethon grew up always unsure that he was actually Helios’ son. He would search for assurances that Helios was his father and nothing his mother could say would reassure him. So Phaethon confronted Helios, seeking the assurance he needed.
Helios swore an unbreakable oath, promising to give Phaethon whatever it was that he wanted and Phaethon requested to be given the opportunity to guide his father’s chariot for a day. Helios realized that it would be folly to allow such a thing but since he had taken an oath, he couldn’t go back on his word. So, he put Phaethon in charge of his chariot.
Phaethon, however, couldn’t control the chariot like his father could. When it flew too close to the ground, it scorched the earth and when it flew too high, it caused some regions of the earth to freeze.
Zeus saw what was happening and decided he had to intervene or the world would be destroyed. He sent a thunderbolt, which killed Phaethon. Helios was devastated and blamed himself for what had happened. It took a great deal of cajoling from the gods to make him remount his chariot and continue his daily journey across the skies.
Helios vs. Apollo
Tumblr media
Many people think that Apollo and Helios are the same god, however, this is a common misconception. The two gods are two different beings, with distinct origins who eventually becme conflated.
Helios was a Titan god and the personification of the sun, while Apollo was one of the Twelve Olympian deities and god of several domains including light, music, arts, archery, healing and poetry.
Helios was directly connected with the sun and controlled it with his golden chariot. He rode the chariot daily from east to west, bringing the sun and daylight with it. Apollo, on the other hand, was simply the god of light (and not specifically of the sun).
Helios was the original sun god but Apollo gradually replaced him. Due to this conflation, Apollo is sometimes described as riding the Sun Chariot across the sky, a role distinctly belonging to Helios.
Helios in Aesop’s Fables
Helios appears in the famous Aesop’s Fables, where he competes with the god of the north wind, Boreas. Both the gods wanted to make a passing traveler remove his clothing. Boreas blew and blew at the traveler but this only made him wrap his clothing around himself more tightly. Helios, however, made the traveler get warmer and warmer so that he willingly removed his clothing, making Helios the winner.

Although he was later overshadowed (no pun intended) by Apollo, he remains the most well-known sun god of the Greek pantheon.

VERSE HEADCANONS (THUNDERCATS) - ATALANTE
under the cut in the event they get too long! this list applies to both the original (1985 - 1987) and the short-lived reboot (2011).
atalante was born to king iason and queen clymene of arkadia.
although she had not been born a boy as iason had hoped she would have been, he still viewed her as the rightful heir to arkadia’s throne.
as a newborn, however, she was kidnapped by an unknown bandit and left in the forests on the outskirts of the kingdom to face the elements alone.
her cries were heard by a deity from arkadia’s pantheon -- the goddess of the hunt, artemis. caring for the infant princess, she returned atalante to her parents three days after she’d been found; a festival being held in the goddess’ honor as the result. years later, atalante would become a follower of the goddess out of gratitude for saving her life.
though she’d been next in line to become the sovereign of arkadia, she’d hunt with her peers and her patron goddess. sometimes she’d unintentionally skip lessons and return home with game slung over her shoulders with a proud smile on her face, always promising to stay in her lessons overtime the following day. and she’d keep those promises as well.
arkadia was a mix of old and new; magic and technology working together to keep the kingdom in peace.
as a teenager, atalante volunteered to slay the calydonian boar, a beast ravaging the neighboring kingdom of calydon.
she was presented the boar’s pelt as a reward for being the first of the volunteers to spill blood from the creature. with magic she’s capable of using it to enhance her strength in battle so long as she wears it.
when growing up, atalante heard stories about neighboring kingdoms -- the farthest away being thundera.
and when she heard of thundera’s destruction at the hands of mumm-ra, she was devastated to hear that millions of lives had been lost. and right away she confronted military leaders to prepare underground bunkers in the event arkadia had been next.
her plan for an eventual invasion? each underground room would be connected to one another through tunnels complicated to navigate by foreigners. when possible enemies approach the gates, bells ring in alert and those who can hear hide within the bunkers, surviving until it is safe to emerge from beneath the surface.
foreign survivors would also be welcome to hide in arkadia’s bunkers for shelter, so long as they mean no harm. it wouldn’t matter what race they were -- if they needed shelter, she would welcome them.
several months after thundera was destroyed, atalante was crowned the queen of arkadia following the death of her father. though a day after the coronation the bells would toll, and the bi-weekly drills were no longer just drills. arkadia was next in mumm-ra’s path of fury.
it was the blessings of their pantheon that everyone had managed to reach the underground bunkers safely, with mumm-ra’s armies destroying abandoned buildings thinking the denizens were foolish enough to hide inside them.
as of late, arkadia had been underground. however, gardens grow and everyone is fed. within the bunkers, atalante was an equal to the rest of her people, and she’d been fine with that. so long as her people were safe, she didn’t care about her own status.
atalante is surprisingly great with children. during her hiding underground, she’d spend time with the children who were afraid, telling them stories of old, and stories of what she grew up with -- even of the goddess that saved her life.

Peter Paul Rubens (1577 - 1640) The Fall of Phaeton (1608) The imagery of “The Fallen Star” reappears without a name in the Apocalypse of St. John. In the 4th century Eusebius Sophronius Hieronymus (Saint Jerome) translated “Morning Star” as «Lucifer» introducing the mythical element of “The Fallen Star” into the mythology of Christianity. In Ovid’s “Metamorphoseon libri” XV (8 AD), Phoebus tried to talk Phaethon out of it by telling him that not even Jupiter would dare. In Plato's “Timaeus” (360 BC), Critias tells the story of Atlantis as recounted to Solon by an Egyptian priest who speaks of Phaethon. Phaethon was the son of the Oceanid Clymene and the solar deity Helios. He bragged about it so much to his playmates that one day they challenged him to prove it. He asked his father for some proof that would demonstrate his relationship with the sun. When the god promised to grant him whatever he wanted, he insisted on being allowed to drive the sun chariot for a day. When the day came, the fierce horses that drew the chariot felt that it was empty because of the lack of the sun-god's weight and went out of control. Terrified, Phaethon dropped the reins. The horses veered from their course, scorching the earth, burning the vegetation, bringing the blood of the Ethiopians to the surface of their skin and so turning it black, changing much of Africa into desert, drying up rivers and lakes and shrinking the sea. Earth cried out to Zeus-Jupiter who was forced to intervene by striking Phaethon with a lightning bolt. Like a falling star, Phaethon plunged blazing into the river Eridanos where he drowned. http://bit.ly/2Sq4cwl February 05, 2019 at 12:36AM
