Dictys and Clymene, the couple that took in Perseus and Danaë.
I’ve kinda been going back and forth on their backstory but here it is so far (keep in mind I’m making up 99% of this stuff bc we barely know anything about them as characters): Dictys used to live in the palace of Seriphos as a prince, but was then pushed out by Polydectes bc he wanted the throne without any competition, he was rather subtle and manipulative about it, instead of physically making Dictys leave the throne to him, he coerced him to leave, bringing up their “brotherly bond” and how he doesn’t want them to fight over the throne. Dictys didn’t want a war either so he left, choosing instead to become a humble fisherman.
Clymene was a noblewoman who married Dictys when he still kept his title as prince but remained on his side even in exile, but even after leaving her luxurious life she still likes to doll herself up whenever she can (hence the bronze jewelry), there isn’t much about her in ancient sources unfortunately, it isn’t even directly stated that she’s Dictys wife, it’s only implied bc they share a shrine.
Oh and little Perseus here is developing his love for sea cicadas lol

could you draw Iapetus?
Menoetius:"They want to know how the old man looks like... "
*silence*
Atlas:"Thinking about it... I haven't seen our father in a long time, I remember Prometheus having the same exact glare as him , the same exact wrinkles and look of disappointment...bone chilling. Yeah if I have to describe him, he would just be an older Prometheus"
Tumblr media
Prometheus:"Last time I checked I didn't have a beard"
Tumblr media
Atlas:"What do you mean beard? He didn't have that last time"
Menoetius:"That's what happens if you hang out more with gods and humans instead of your kin, you even forget what your parents look like"
Epimetheus:" If he has a beard now, since the last time we saw him... that means that Atlas looks more like him or... even Menoetius"
Menoetius:"I look nothing like him"
Prometheus:"You do look like our father. There's nothing you should feel ashamed about "
Epimetheus:"Yeah exactly! If I look like mom and Atlas has her eyes... that rules out us from looking like dad"
Atlas:"That's not how it works..."
Based on their memory this is what their parents look like now, is it correct? Who knows

if you go with the version where clymene and aerope are sisters then. the versions with agamemnon (menelaus too but like... implicitly. in that there's no text where he objects to it) being complicit in palamedes' murder can also be... the curse of atreus? between cousins? hm.

I stand by this opinion: Iapetus deserved his own book way more than Apollo did. I mean, I liked the first two Trials of Apollo books. But since Jason Grace died in the third, i'm never gonna read past the third. The Trials of Apollo lose all charm and value once Jason dies. I was so upset that I literally refused to read any farther. So this instills in me a bias, you understand. And that bias is about to be expressed very strongly.
Personally, I think that Iapetus deserved the sequel more because he has the more interesting story. He is the oldest ancestor of mankind. His children included Prometheus and Epimetheus, the brothers who created mankind. Mankind (at least in the grecian world) all goes back to Iapetus. Iapetus, the Titan of the West. Father of Prometheus, Epimetheus, Atlas and Menoetius. Him and his kids reflect humanity. They're the reason we live today. Even if Iapetus was a warrior who helped Kronos kill Ouranous, we owe our lives to him today.
Also, we have to address his amnesia and his subsequent trauma. Percy Jackson doused him in the waters of the River Lethe, then never bothered to visit him or help him remember himself! Iapetus had a wife (Clymene, I think her name was)! He had four children he probably cared very much about! But no! The man lost all his memories of his four sons. And of his wife. That's gotta cause some really nasty emotional trauma, even for a Titan.
And yes, Iapetus did sacrifice himself at the end of the House of Hades. But that's why a sequel series about him would work so well. He's got the emotional trauma of killing his dad, abandoning his wife and kid, and of being neglected by everyone except Nico di Angelo once he lost his memories. He deserves a good story. And I already know the plot. I really should be reading my book (since i'm writing this at school), but I need to write a note about the plot of this hypothetical book urgently.

Kinda interesting that besides the former King Cronus and Queen Rhea, Theia and Hyperion are assumingly the only couple who were able to have a lineage mighty enough for their children to be the personification of the Sun, Moon, and Dawn respectively. Not to mention being able to KEEP that role despite no obvious alliance with Zeus during the Titanomachy. (Helios and Selene get semi-replaced by Apollo and Artemis but still maintain their positions enough that Helios has a role in Hephaestus, Demeter, and Heracles' stories) (also Zeus never seeks out a replacement for Eos as the goddess of Dawn which makes me think that they are amiable with each other)
Compare that to Iapetus' four sons getting fucked in four different directions, Coeus and Phoebe's only real relevance being Leto and their grandchildren by Zeus and being grandparents to Hecate, Oceanus and Tethys producing and losing Metis while their other numerous children play minor to adequate roles, and Crius' sons merely being "husbands" to more well-known deities (Eos, Styx, Asteria). (Astraios being the biggest research disappointment because you'd think the husband of the Goddess of Dawn would be the God of Dusk and have an active role during sunset but no, he's just a God of the stars sadly).
(Of course, there are also Themis' and Mnemosyne's daughters by Zeus, who are very important, but like Leto's case it helps that their children's father is the King of The Gods and Zeus x Titanesses is almost 99% guarantee they get good roles) (then there's Prometheus Bound where Prometheus' mother is Themis only which is cool but I mostly consider Clymene as his mother)

i don't consider libya as part of morciamythos (← term i use for my overall interpretation of mythology and its events, etc.) but she's fun as a concept. maybe moreso if you're like me and hc that she looks like her papa palamedes
libya visits ithaca post-odyssey and odysseus is jumpscared by a lady with a striking similarity to his archenemy / victim back at troy and – oh, what's this? she's his daughter??? huh. odysseus is more surprised that her existence implies a woman liked palamedes enough for that. and so another ghost joins the fray in haunting him
on the other hand, the a la atreides of it all would be interesting. palamedes, oeax and nausimedon leave for war when she's a child and only her uncles come back home. and by then, her grandfather has already taken a long-winded revenge for palamedes' death, but his absence continues to be a presence, the outline of his corpse is still there. and it's not fun looking like a dead man because now the family is mourning palamedes by pretending he's still there through libya; nauplius / clymene spoil her and try to shape her into their son, oeax / nausimedon rely on her too much and think she can take on the duties their eldest brother did. sometimes a daughter is her own father

At long last, the royal family of Arcadia is done!
Just a heads up in case it’s hard to read Atalanta’s dad is Iasus, not Jesus. I only say that because two of my friends have misread it 😂

Clymene was the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys and married off the Titan Iapetus. Together the two were said to determine how long and for what a moral would be remembered for after they had lived. Clymene was also the mother of some rather important titans like Atlas and Prometheus - neither of whom can or will be forgotten in myth. In some versions, it is said that she was loved by Helios, the sun god (sometimes it is just another nymph with the shared name of Clymene though). In that version, she is often connected to the rare event of a solar eclipse; for she had the ability to turn the attention of the sun god. IN MY OPINION Clymene in your chart represents a) what you produce/create that is famous/popular, b) how you with be remembered, and/or c) the attention you receive.
Tumblr media
i encourage you to look into the aspects of clymene along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of clymene AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede clymene!
OTHER RELATED ASTEROIDS: prometheus (1809)!
