13. There is a lot of music in Tolkien. What character would you wish to sing in RoP? What would they sing about? To whom?

AAAH!! We were kinda robbed not hearing some Adar singing, a counterpart of Gil-galad's song, now knowing that Sam Hazeldine was in a band lol. But there are lots of characters that I would wish to hear sing!! It ain't Tolkien enough if someone doesn't whip out a sad song in a scene! But, my pick would be Elendil. I mean, it's in the bloodline, horsegirl and sad singing have to come in a combo. And OF COURSE he's gonna sing some sad elvish song about unrequited love to Miriel. 🫠

good morning! I wanted to request a romantic oneshot with thranduil and a f!reader that is legolas highschool teacher? Maybe they met at an parents-evening and he wanted to get to know her a bit more :)

♡ When he sat down at the table, you couldn’t help but gawk for a moment at how gorgeous this man was, barely noticing your student beside him that you were supposed to be giving your assessment of. 

♡ Ultimately, of course, it was Legolas who broke you out of your daze by greeting you with your name, prompting you to smile at the father and son in greeting as you began searching through your papers for Legolas' grade report.

♡ Thranduil was a beautiful man, his hair long and so well-maintained, falling perfectly, his suit immaculately tailored and stylish as though he'd just walked right out the pages of a men's fashion magazine. You couldn't keep your eyes off him as you explained that Legolas was an exemplary student and popular amongst his peers.

♡ All of which made him look like a very proud father and you could only continue to praise Legolas, not wanting this stunning man in front of you to get up and leave, never again to be seen until the next parent-teacher conference as Legolas was not the sort to get into the type of trouble where parents would be called into the school.

And so, you find yourself over at the coffee and snacks station at the end of the evening, sipping bad coffee from a paper cup to get you through the drive home. You open a packaged cinnamon bun to try and wash away the flavour of the overly bitter and yet weak coffee with the sweetness of the pastry and its sticky icing.

"I'd recommend the tea instead." A familiar, deep timbre speaks from just behind you. You turn around and are met with the lapels of a jacket and a tie over a broad chest, your head tilting up to meet the pale blue eyes of Legolas' father Thranduil. You feel your cheeks warm slightly at the way he's smiling down at you in a suave manner.

"Mh, you're probably right, this tastes awful." You sigh, indulging in his small talk and praying it'll go somewhere.

"Then perhaps I'll have to take you somewhere with better quality coffee?" He suggests and his eyes narrow a little as a ghost of a sly smirk teases at his lips that just look so, so kissable to your flustered mind. What's got into you?

You open your mouth to speak but are so at a loss for words; nothing comes out. He takes out a business card and hands it to you. You look down at it and find his business number and email but, more noticeably, is a personal phone number written across it in pen.

"I trust this won't be my last time seeing you, l/n." He has a smile on his lips and a teasing spark in his eyes that tells you he's all too aware that he's an irresistible specimen.

Sage Blossoms, Part 1

Miserable and soaking wet.

Half-dressed. And sorely regretful no one was there to hear the cheerful rhythm your teeth were making in vain attempts to meet.

You could do with a laugh.

Or with an embrace.  

The drawbar had always been too heavy for you. You’d never been able to budge it on your own, not with your ludicrous bony hands.

The horses behind the thick oaken door were still raging. You prayed it was not a rat this time. That last incident with a parton’s horse cost the inn twice your yearly wage. You hadn’t had a new piece of cloth on you since.  

The rainwater was meandering down your face, sprouting new and new rivulets. The skin it touched was quickly turning numb.

The smell came first… A strange blend of dead embers and no longer living flesh. For an instant it seemed to you it was oozing from between the doors to the stables.

The thought of fire was far scarier than the thought of rats.

A horse inside let out a high-pitched shriek, making your hair stand on end.

You shrank back and choked on a short outcry at finding yourself locked between a pair of arms, reaching for the drawbar.  

The presence you’d collided with let out a sound, too, a something you could hear coming out of a mouth curled up in self-ridicule.

Strange as it was, it calmed you down.

A dozen years of serving lord and vagabonds had taught you to know a danger at the first syllable it sent in your direction.

The look you ventured at the man did nothing but add to your surmise. If anything, it was his slouching countenance that reassured you completely. That, and his eyes, the best feature on an otherwise unhandsome face.

He was holding your gaze silently, perhaps, waiting for you to be the first to say something.

It was hard to look away, no matter how troublesome a feeling the expression in his eyes was giving you. He knew exactly how much he had scared you, and what measure you had measured him with, and how by now you had no doubts that unsettling smell was coming off him, after all. And he was jeering at you, you could tell it for sure, in a way a wiseman could jeer at a baby trying to read its first word.

“Why you?” said he at last.

His voice had the same ashy quality to it as his whole self, as if his throat was burnt.  

“The grooms won’t return till the morning.”

The question brought you to the reality where your nightgown and the poor excuse of a shawl were still dripping with cold water and the horses were still going insane, shut in four walls with something that had scared them to death.

“I’m sorry, I have to…”

He didn’t let you finish.

The drawbar came out of the slots without a spare hitch. You couldn’t expect him to dispose of it with enough care, but he did, leaning the thing against the jamb in a weirdly habitual manner.

The dark mouth of the doorframe had swallowed him before you could utter a word of protest.

The beasts screamed so loud you jumped back faintheartedly, giving up the intention of following him.  

A century had passed in feverish struggle with yourself. You had to be there, and you had no courage to step over the threshold.

Your senses were strained to the limit that didn’t seem possible.

To your relief, little by little the clamour started dying down. The horses were falling silent one after another. First there were four of them, then two, then the last one sobbed quietly and all you could hear was a monotonous raspy whisper. Eventually it trailed off, too, leaving the rain the only thing to beget any sound at all.

There was a fresh cut on his cheek, when he stepped out into the yard again. In the scant moonlight the streaks of blood looked almost black to you.   

“Go back to bed, child,” dropped he without any feeling, “You do not wish to die in sickness.”

His breath was coming out weary, too weary for you not to put down your guard once more. With the sense you could find no name for you felt that whatever he had done had cost him more than it was worth.  And you deemed yourself guilty for that.

It was a silly move.

An obvious mistake.

The way his whole body convulsed at the touch of your shawl against his cheek made that clearer than daylight. In that brief moment your eyes met his again, there was such fury in them it made you nauseous.  

But you went on with it till you wiped away all the traces of blood and dirt and could be sure the wound was clean at least by the look.   

“Take care of it, please,” you said firmly.

The stables remained unlocked.

But you didn’t even think of it, as you turned away to leave.

7 Sentence Friday

Tagged by @lordgrimwing, and holy shit I actually have seven sentences to share today? Amazing. (I have actually been very good about writing every day in November so far. Not 50,000 words worth of good, but trying to aim for over 400 per day.)

He has no reason to avoid her.  Does he?  Every bit of logic and sense she possesses says no, but the hard lump solidifying in her throat and the hot sting of tears gathering in the corners of her eyes seem to be convinced otherwise.  And she knows it is ridiculous, and irrational, but at least she is back at her door.  If her treacherous emotions are going to get the better of her, at least they can do it somewhere she is able to hide her face in a pillow and not be seen.  She can let herself have a good cry over what is probably nothing tonight, and sleep it off, and then in the morning wake up with a more level head and go back to the forge and find some excuse to speak with Annatar about alloys or gems or hammers or... anything.

If only the part about crying over everything first did not feel so awful and hollow.

Here's The Deal...

So here's the deal... I have been pursuing my real life goals and accomplishments the past two years. This summer I have about a month and a half before I have to go into essentially a work-study opportunity which is going to help propel the rest of my career. What does this mean?

Though I know I've always been sparse when it comes to getting things out and finishing projects with my writing, I think that perhaps it might be worth it to post the drafts, snippets, imagines, WIPs, and ideas I've had over the years either in store in my drafts, or in my docs. I have stuff ranging from either Supernatural, DC Comics, ADCU of course, TUA, and of course some more recent developments on the Marvel, Grishaverse, and DBH content I'd been putting out. The question is... would anyone be interested in that?

I'm such a perfectionist at times when it comes to things like this, that... I'm even doubting if I should post this halfway through writing this. HOWEVER, I will say that some things will be incredibly brief. And for that purpose, it's exactly why I'm asking if anyone would be interested in reading/seeing these things. If so, I can post them, and even tag people. I'm just curious, since, I haven't written for some of these fandoms in a while, but am wanting to get back into writing over the summer, that perhaps it might be worthwhile. What do we think?

“This one might be more useful to you.” A book enters your line of sight as you return the book in your hand to its rightful place on the shelf. It’s written in Sindarin anyway and therefore of little use to you. The one now being offered to you though is printed in the common tongue. 

The hand holding it looks worn with work and exploration, adorned by fingerless gloves and a ring with green gems. You follow the arm up until you meet kind blue eyes. They belong to Estel, Lord Elrond’s ward. You blink in surprise as you gently take it from him.

“Thank you…” You haven’t been a guest in Rivendell for a significantly long time but you have been here long enough to know that he is a ranger and, when in Rivendell, can often be seen amongst Elrond and his children. He’s kind-eyed and soft-spoken and (you’re now beginning to also see) very charming too. 

“Come, I think this section will be to your liking.” He offers with a polite dip of his head as he begins leading you away to another section of the library. You notice his hair as you follow him through the aisles of shelves. His hair is long but not as long as the elves’. He appears human but there’s something about his mannerisms that make you doubt he’s wholly human too. He leads you to a section on nature. “I really love the wildflower illustrations in these ones-” his worn fingers run along the embossed spines before doing the same to a few books two shelves up, “-and these are on Fangorn forest…” 

“Have you ever been?” You ask, made curious by the fond smile on his lips.

“I haven’t, no, but the eldar speak very highly of the old trees there. They’re awake, you know? Aware, moving, speaking…”

“I would like to see it for myself…” You say softly as you ponder what it might be like to talk with a tree. Aragorn smiles softly at your words. You clearly have a deep curiosity and respect for nature and something about who you are is intuitively pulling him towards you. He lets the silence hang between the two of you for a while before he speaks once again:

“Are you free the day after tomorrow?” He asks and you take a moment to recall your schedule. 

“Yes…?” You reply, unsure as to why he’s asking.

“Estel… it’s incredible…” You breathe out as you look over the valley that Rivendell resides in, the waterfalls and rivers and the beautiful architecture, the steep rising hills of the valley and the blanket of tree canopy all around. He’s taken you on a ride up to the top of one of said hills, the horses grazing nearby as you stand near the ledge, the wind and distant rush of water joining the melodies of birds around you.

He joins you in admiring the view – one of his favourite spots he found when he first began his training as a ranger. But his eyes aren’t on the valley of Rivendell like yours are. They’re on you.

“Indeed it is…”

Your First Fandom: Star Trek, Star Trek, Star Trek! Though I'd never shipped before ST ENT (Everyone who's read my Breaking The Ice will know that it's partially an ode to *THE* ship.)

Your Current Fandom: I'm writing in The Rings of Power fandom, currently, which happens to be the first fandom that I'd decided to try my hand at writing in for strange, roundabout reasons.

How did you first get into fandom?: I've never identified myself as a fan, despite my deep love for everything Trek, and I hadn't realised that I'd got into fandom until one thing led to another and I was reading ungodly amounts of Trip/T'Pol fics. I'm still in denial...

How long have you been engaging in fandom spaces?: I'm *still* in denial :D I'll always be in denial.

How often do you read fanfic?: Currently, as I'm writing, I'm afraid it's very little. I love all of you, dear fellow ROP writers, and if I've not read your works it's not a slight, it's more that my brain is too small to read and write simultaneously, most of the time.

Top three characters from your current fandom?: Halbrand (Sauron), Bronwyn + Arondir (yes, @iamstartraveller776 I'm stealing your answer, you can't have one and not the other), Elrond

Have you ever written a fic for a fandom and if so, shout it out!: Since I've only ever written in The Rings of Power fandom, all my self-shout-outs are going to be there, but so far I sit at 23 fics. Some examples:

From ST: ENT - The events in the last episode were not real, and the "history record" had been intentionally tampered with. Trip obviously hadn't died.

From TROP - Galadriel is Sauron; she found a poor dumb idiot who had a crush on her to do her bidding. Oh sorry, did we say *feel strongly about*?

You’re trying to convince a friend to get into your current fandom(s) with you. what episode, clip, or scene are you showing them?:

TROP - I don't feel super strongly about my friends getting into it, as I'm not a perfect fan of it despite all the writing, but I have shared my fanfics on occasion. Result: people learn about AO3 and then tell me all about strange niche things they discover in other fandoms. It's a joy.

Star Trek ENT - "The Andorian Mining Consortium runs from no one!" (any scene with Shran), that episode where Trip gets pregnant, SIMILITUDE

And finally, what does fandom mean to you?: Having fun, writing, messing around, and occasionally meeting wonderful people that I end up being COMPLETELY ENAMOURED WITH.
