Since I got into the IDW comics recently, I wanted to draw Tangle and Whisper together!! I couldn't decide on the design, so I just did both🤪

Yes I got Material Ultimania Plus the other day. Anways shout out to Remake Sephiroth's battle lines being Like That.

"Prone to cryptic comments" y'all don't say. All of them are the brand of haughty edge-lord I adore, but special shout outs to:

- Directly saying lines from Advent Children ("On your knees" ; "Beg for forgiveness" ; "Shall I give you despair?") to all but scream that he is Incorrect and Should Not Be Here.

- The Weird ones that I believe are fairly rare(? I've never heard them in game at least) like "Pray for me" ; "Will you endure?" ; "Defy me" ; "I've been waiting for this" ; "Shall I sever your fate?" and "Will you weep for me?"

- How obvious it is he just Hates Tifa

- His quotes to Aerith where he seems to be genuinely asking her Why she's doing this given her fate will not change no matter what (which I'm saying Rebirth cements as being true)

I just think he's neat.

Oh, but what always gets me about this moment:

Is the specific word choice of 'protecting'. Because it doesn't seem like the most obvious word choice. The writers could have written it as 'helping' or something like 'actually turned out we were on the same side'. There were probably ways to describe Darius's actions that would have been more straight forward and would have explained better whatever happened with Raine and the rebels.

Instead the focus is on Darius trying to protect them, and Raine wasn't even close to him at that point in time!

And, in-universe, do you think Darius himself would've put it like that when explaining his actions to Raine, or was the 'protecting you' part something they've figured out themselves😭

On the left, Yuan-ti Mind Whisperer! You wanted a snake person, right? That's what last tournament taught us? We're just getting every possible variation! Human sized, can turn into a snake, and have magic to hypnotize, charm, read minds, make illusions, and even clean the bedsheets in seconds. They're elusive, sneaky, manipulative, unpredictable, and notorious for making and breaking alliances with multiple competing factions. But hey. we can see that lack of junk down there. Which means it's likely the retractable kind you find on snakes. Y'all know where I'm going with this by now. Hemepenes, double cloaca extension, each hooked up to a separate teste so they don't have to rest while one's recovering! On the right, the Cloud Giant Smiling one! 23-25 ft (7-7.6 m) tall giants in the sky! The weather bends to thier whim, they're natural shapeshifters, and they have all sorts of magic for illusions and fog clouds and invisibility! Even a bit of weak mind manipulation, though they prefer to just use thier amazing persuasion, deception, and slight of hand skills. These ones LIVE for the drama, wearing masks with triumphant smirk on one side for mischief they cause and a grimace on the other because Storm Giants are higher ranked than them. They're tricksters, they value craftiness, and they'll eagerly do things others would think beneath them.
