Been reading the Sadeian woman after @normalbrothers mentioned it in relation to Diana Mitford, many thoughts but tumblr (and no computer on holidays) is. Poor format for those thoughts

That said, in a(n unrelated?) tangent, the books framing of the written pornographer’s role in reinforcing sexual dynamics/norms (and that this is why de Sade was at least worthy of analysis because he challenged sexual/gender/power dynamic norms) makes me wonder regarding the propensity (call it the dominance; the dominant minority) of readerfic these days (writ by women for women and using the 'self insert' motif to tackle first person POV) and how it’s recolonised fannish spaces back to a particular model of acceptable pornography through sheer flooding quantity .

“our Chr1s+ian (?) moral duty to reclaim queer pornography to reassert normative sexual dynamics between a man and a woman, or a man and a man, or a woman and a woman*” and clean up all that dirty sexual power gender role dynamic complexity etc etc etc there’s only a very limited range of acceptable incest to fetishise etc etc mumble mumble even gay readerfic back to hole and prod mumble mutter mumble

We report on a crisp evening, with the sun holding out until we are home to blink. We can feel the nippy wind on the back of our neck, but we have kept warm by walking long paces uphill. Our face feels hot, and our icy fingers burn when we touch our cheeks. Summer is still away.

Okay, so when my partner and I were working on his Smoker cosplay, we were looking for gloves that came as close as possible to his anime gloves, like shown in the picture below.

However, it was hard to find gloves exactly like that. So, we went for a lighter brown, and gloves with more black parts in it. (My partner jokes it's his permanent haki). The gloves didn't have just black circles on the knuckles, but a whole black strip covering the knuckles, and small black parts a little higher up the fingers as well. You can see it well on this picture:

But... it was as close as we could get it and the style of gloves looked pretty good to us, so we went with those.

But then the live action came out and... ....

They're 98% the same gloves. Lighter brown. Full black strip covering the knuckles. Small black parts on the fingers.

My favourite ship with Sephiroth is GlennSeph and I am very happy to share 4 out of the gazillion headcanons I have about them. :3

Headcanon A:  realistic

Sephiroth, who is canonically a cat, has a very ambivalent relationship with Glenn's dog, Refu. They act nice towards each other for Glenn's sake, but deep down they are batshit jealous of the other one. Sephiroth sometimes does evil things like giving laxatives to Refu while Refu in turn eats Sephiroth's mission reports that are due to the next morning, so Sephiroth has to stay up all night redoing them and Refu can sleep on the bed with Glenn.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

While Glenn and Sephiroth were taking a bath in the river in Rhadore, a Behemoth ate all their clothes because Glenn had some leftover hot dog in his pocket and the monster found it easier to just gulp down the whole pile of clothes instead of picking out the source of the delicious smell. They had to go back to their campsite totally naked. Glenn went ahead to grab some change of clothes for them to protect Sephiroth's dignity. He told the others that a Behemoth ate their clothes but nobody believed him.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

When Glenn died and his soul entered the lifestream, he witnessed the whole conversation between Sephiroth and Rosen (in a way that Tifa did see Cloud's memories of her) and naturally he felt very guilty. He was revived by Hojo not too much later though so his soul was pulled back into his body, and as a Sephiroth clone he is merely Sephiroth's puppet now. Sephiroth doesn't remember a word about what he had teached him about compassion, all he cares about is destruction. As little as it remained from Glenn's consciousness, he feels extremely guilty and regretful for not reaching out for Sephiroth as long as it was still possible. (But don't worry, it's never too late, he will find a way to steal Sephiroth's heart even if it takes years, and it definitely will take some time as Sephiroth at the very moment has a much greater interest in tormenting Cloud than in having bromance with Glenn.)

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Glenn is in fact Cloud's dad. He got Claudia pregnant when he was still a teen but back then he was not fit for parenthood so he left them. When Sephiroth finally starts dating Glenn, he is joining the "I'm dating your dad" club where the only other member in town is Cloud, who is dating Vincent (Sephiroth's dad). Sefikura are each other's stepmoms and they have a very strong lesbian vibe that makes Glenn and Vincent fairly jealous. Vincent complains to Cid about the situation and Cid, as a good friend, assures him that indeed there is a lesbian vibe, as a real man he has a strongly developed lesbian radar that hits the roof when Sefikura is around. Vincent doesn't come out of his coffin for a week.
