“Anti-Cosmo, I know this is a sensitive subject. I wouldn’t normally go around asking this, but I think that if we’re going to live together, it’s important to talk.” And I stared at her, horrorstruck, as she played her last five cards: “Do you like Seelie Courters?”

In which Anti-Cosmo and Wanda shop for godparenting supplies and settle into their new housing unit in the Summer of the Flaming Clouds

Wanda, for one, had dressed up for our shopping day. I’d never seen that ruffled green dress on her, but I liked the colour. The leafiness suited her. She’d tied back her shiny pink hair and done her face up in enough powder and lash extensions, I knew then and there I’d be staring. Can I confide in Wanda about my plan to wear Mona’s clothes? Maybe she could help me pick a few things out today. I hadn’t thought of that. My core picked up its beats like claws drumming on my arm. I looked away, only to catch her wings at just the right angle; I bit my lip.

She even smelled clean and pleasant- That was definitely some heavy perfume mixed in alongside her usual cherry almond scent. She had a handbag patterned like the night sky, showcasing no fewer pins than her beloved schoolbag. I’d dressed simpler in my Carl Poofypants pullover and black sweatpants. After all, I’d be moving around a lot, in and out of stores on the heels of a quick companion.

When Wanda saw me, her wings stopped fluttering. She touched down on the sidewalk. “Are… you allowed to wear green?” Her words were awfully funny, but the surprise genuine. “How does that work if you’re a Water year?”

Maybe you do pay attention in your culture classes. Of course she did- she was Wanda Fairywinkle. I dragged my eyes from her pretty dress and handbag and shiny wings. “Well, dear Wanda, your brains enamour me once again. I shall have to watch my tongue close around you. Yes, I’m wearing Water-blue underneath. I’m allowed to wear school colours if it’s authentic from their store.” 

Wanda stared curiously at me a moment longer. “I’ve never seen you wear a hoodie before… It looks nice on you.”

Did I detect a twinge of envy dancing in her words? I caught the lift; I heard the plop. I scrutinised myself once more, but I can’t say for certain I liked the lime green of Carl Poofypants pride against my dark blue fur. Would you really say I look ‘nice?’ I should think ‘Getting by’ felt more appropriate. I wondered for a moment how much of Wanda’s classy appearance was her idea and how much her father’s. Perhaps I’d ask Blonda before our move-out date.

“Thank you, darling; I appreciate it. And I could say the same about you.”

She didn’t exactly smile widely at me… but her shoulders did relax.

Wanda poofed us both to the mall we’d decided to glut ourselves on. Noisy, filthy, and people stared as soon as I materialised. I scooped several pieces of trash into a nearby can and did my best to block them out.

“You could use magic,” Wanda said, watching me search the area for any litter I’d overlooked.

“I’m afraid Fairy-Cosmo’s magic is chronically unreliable and I get the dregs of that. It’s a wee bit off today.” I could feel it in my core

“Oh… The Cosma mutation. Right.” Wanda used her magic to help me tidy some litter, and I thanked her for it with a pat on the arm, mindful of cultural boundaries.

“Many thanks, darling- I know the spirit bears appreciate it as much as I do, ta?”

“No trouble…”

The envelopes we’d received our assignments in had included a detailed checklist. On the agenda for today, we’d pick up a few basics like skincare - Protection from sun and acid clocked in at high priority on Boudacia - our interplanet vaccinations, nutrition supplements, and little details for our primary disguises. That… I worried about.

Many godparents chose to take the role of companion animals in a child’s life, offering plausible deniability if they were to leap in and protect their godkid from a threat without revealing their magical nature. Object disguises weren’t unheard of, but grew dull after a time… not to mention they’d put a crick in your neck and wings. It was far too easy for an adult to toss loose objects away, and when our line of work involved lying low, lending aid to miserable children in secret, that was a hassle I was all too happy to avoid.

No… My concern lay with our options for disguise. And when Wanda and I strolled into the little animal disguises shop, Wanda skimmed straight towards the canine collars gleaming on their hooks. My core sank.

“Ah…”

“What do you think of foops?” Wanda asked, holding a blue collar decorated in rhinestones to her neck. She made a face in the mirror and switched it for a green option. “They’ve certainly got the bulk to back up a bite.”

Boudacia hadn’t exactly tamed its violent beasts, though admittedly, the thought of living like a star-coated canine with enormous fangs and claws had a certain charm to it. Before I could speak, Wanda abandoned the rhinestone-studded collars for a guidebook on serpent identification. “Or snakes… I’d love to be a snake.”

Having fangs could really help us in a pinch. I drifted towards her, smoothing my palms down my hoodie front. “Wanda… I’m not really allowed.”

She didn’t face me, though I could tell from the shift in her wings as she bent to grab another collar that her fairy senses had me on lock. “Oh, that’s right… Anti-Fairies aren’t allowed to shapeshift. Do you not get to make exceptions for godparenting?”

“Shapeshifting isn’t forbidden in its entirety, but I can only be a fox- That’s my family line. I’m descended from Cadmea the Teumessian Fox herself. And I don’t really know about the godparenting rules. We can’t get certified on our side of the border.” The Anti-Fairy Academy was a place of personal research, designed especially for the on-the-go lifestyle of a travelling Anti-Fairy. Rather than attending daily classes, it offered the chance to propose research and present projects for evaluation. We certainly didn’t have daily homework or essays graded by biassed instructors… and we didn’t have fancy programs on godparenting.

(I say we, though I of course attended Fairy schools- you know what I mean.)

“Well, there must be some Anti-Fairy godparents you can ask. The war wasn’t that long ago.” Wanda studied another collar lined with little butterflies. “It won’t be easy to be a godparent without shapeshifting.”

“I’ve passed my classes; I’ll do fine.”

“What if our godkid wishes you into a new form?”

“Well, that wouldn’t be my choice, so the spirits wouldn’t be shamed.”

“We could just do that, then.”

“That’s not the point.”

“Does Tarrow’s pantheon even reach Boudacia? I mean… There are only a few spirits watching Snobulac, right?” She counted Saturn, Sunnie, and Winni off on her fingers. “Will they even know?”

“That’s not the point,” I said again, dropping my wings.

“Well, you can’t be a fox,” Wanda argued, finally looking at me. A storm brewed in her shiny pink eyes. “There aren’t any woods in north Boudacia. Their culture’s all about weapons and metal. I vote snakes.”

Watsford Women: Headcanons of Gracie and Annette

(Or basically, every headcanon I created regarding the two!)

Gracie gave up her tail and distanced herself from Julia, Louise and Max so she wouldn't feel guilty about her choice.

However, Gracie felt a pull to go to Mako Island whenever she passed the island, whether it be from boat or from the mainland.

A few years later, Gracie married a navy officer, Walt, whom she met after a night of dancing at Cloudland and moved to a military base in Darwin, far away from her past and Mako Island.

Not long after that, she gave birth to Annette Sharon Watsford in November 25th, 1965.

Gracie frequently enjoyed taking Annette to the beach and taught her how to swim.

She lost her husband in an accident and moved off the base, taking a recommendation from a friend to take a hostess job at a restaurant in Brisbane, Queensland.

Mother and daughter moved into an apartment in Brisbane, which brought some comfort in familiarity and distance from Mako.

Gracie's enthralling personality brought in many customers and had her quickly rise through the ranks to Assistant Manager.

Annette became obsessed with cooking after learning from the chef after hours.

Gracie and Annette, were caught up in the Brisbane Flood of 1974. Stayed with family and friends until the floodwaters subsided.

Gracie found work - part-time as a seamstress and another as a waitress. She refused to move back to the Gold Coast.

Annette grows up to be a precocious, delightful outspoken young woman (who clashes with Gracie's free-spirited nature when necessary).

Proceeds to make dresses for Annette after she entered high school in the 80s. She had a love/hate relationship with 80s fashion and store-brand names.

Gracie meets up with Julia while she and Annette were out Christmas shopping. Its the first and last time she and Annette meet anyone from her past.

Watched "Splash" when it first came out in 1984 (Annette is 18/19). Gracie found the entire film hilarious, if not surprised by how on point Madison's mermaid tail and abilities mirrored her own once upon a time.

Gracie considers retiring early since Annette acquired a scholarship and takes to making handmaid jewelry from items she (reluctantly) has ordered from the Gold Coast.

In the late 80s, Annette introduces Gracie to her boyfriend, Charles - a marine biologist, whom she eventually marries. Gracie wonders if the universe is trying to tell her something.

Charlotte Elizabeth Watsford is born in 1991. Gracie named her for Charlotte's Web, her favorite book (and because Annette and Charles couldn't decide on a name prior).

Annette and Charlotte witnessed Charles die from a dolphin attack, which scarred Charlotte to the point she developed a fear of dolphins and the sea.

Gracie took care of her while Annette worked and told her stories about the ocean to help Charlotte overcome her fear of the sea but never of dolphins.

Gracie develops late-stage cancer that already spread. She's made peace with it despite Annette fighting with her to live.

Gracie is moved into a hospice in 1997 for the end of her days and Annette & Charlotte visit when they can. She's asked if there's anyone that she wants to contact (distant friends or family) before she goes, but refuses the opportunity.

Gracie Watsford passed away at 57 with her daughter by her side, before she goes home to tell Charlotte - who becomes inconsolable. Her body was cremated and kept in an urn Charlotte painted.

FAIRY WORLD

CENTRAL STAR (PURPLE)

Fairy World’s most populous region. In general, it’s viewed as clean, high-end, and professional. Faeheim is the hub of Fairy World activity. The largest hospital and library can be found there, along with the Big Wand, Jorgen’s home, and Fairy World’s main shopping district.

Two large events are hosted in Faeheim each year: Midsummer’s Night celebrations and the Christmas Eve gathering when Fairies approach the Big Wand to send their magic to Santa.

In Timmy’s time period, the current Purple Robe is Shaiimin Vieldgarr.

Names that originate from the Central Star Region are considered the most traditional and are often connected to namesakes from ancient stories.

Sample Names: Praxis, Ambrosine, Solara, Fergusius, Florensa, Juandissimo, Orin, Sindri, Simon, Angus, Lyren, Kalysta, Idona

Faeheim (5) - Fairy World’s capital city; contains ASPRA headquarters and the Big Wand; features the Rainbow Bridge connecting Fairy World to Earth; former location of the Water Temple

Pink Castle (5) - Located in Faeheim; residence of the Fairy Elder

Serentip (5) - Large port city; second largest city in Fairy World; rather dim sky provides aesthetic that lends itself well to Fairy World’s night life (think Las Vegas, USA); features the Artemis Lounge

Carl Poofypants Fairy High (5) - High school for Fairy kids who live in the Central Star and Far East regions; located in Serentip 

Giant Bucket of Acid World (4) - Immediately below Faeheim

Ivory Wand and Comet Blood (4) - A sugar bar formerly owned by only Fairies; the Pixies currently own half of it so Fairy World cannot legally prevent them from visiting; if pixies leave Pixie World after work, you’ll likely find them either here for a quick drink or in Serentip for a rave

Tortoiseshell Peaks (3, 4, 5) - The name for three ranges of mountains found in about the same place on Planes 3, 4, and 5 (Between Faeheim and Novakiin)

Novakiin (3) - Small, wealthy town on the other side of the mountains from Faeheim

Lau Rell (3) - Small, clean town famous for its carnival; China Mayfleet’s hometown

Claystrif (3) - Also known as Patio World; contains intricately carved works of art and the glass shrine to Mother Nature and Father Time

Camp Ridawingedhorsie (1) - Summer camp; mostly for Fairy kids

FAR EAST (PINK)

A beautiful region with more woodlands than any other in Fairy World. Except for Comet Falls, you won’t find any cities here. It’s stereotyped as being cutesy and aesthetic. You’ll find small cottages and romantic getaway homes sprinkled all over this region (Fairies are big on romantic getaway homes since they have heat cycles and it’s a big deal when they’re in the mood).

The general vibe here is that it’s a cozy place where people are spaced out and don’t see each other often (Much more elbow room than cramped Faeheim apartments).

In Timmy’s time period, the current Pink Robe is Mortikor Fern.

Names that originate from the Far East Region are often tangible things; they usually have a cutesy feel.

Sample Names: Snowflake, Cedar, Pepper, Twig, Thatch, Reed, Tinsel, Silky, Taffeta, China, Thimble, Robin, Ribbon, Rain, Hook, Grove

Comet Falls (7) - The factory center of Fairy World (think New York City, USA); rings in the new season four times a year; contains the Sky Temple

Comet Lake (7) - The widest lake in the cloudlands (and the closest thing the fae have to an ocean); located near Comet Falls

Emper (6) - Small, low-income town on the outskirts of Fairy World, occasionally circled by pirates; Cosmo’s hometown

Starglint Town (6) - Small woodland town near Emper; Fairywinkle Manor is located nearby; Wanda’s hometown

Rowanbeam (6) - Nice town where the Whimsifinado family relocated after the Fairywinkles drove them out of Starglint long ago (Think Beverly Hills, USA, but smaller and less warm)

Choketroll Pass (6) - A narrow canyon; will o’ the wisps jump over it ceremonially

Prudoc (5) - The college town that boasts the Fairy Academy

Mount Stinger (5) - The highest mountain in the cloudlands; located near the Fairy Academy (29,414.3 wingspans)

Nimbus Town (4) - Small but beautiful town surrounded by an ipewood forest; features Alberich Middle

Alberich Fairy Middle (4) - Middle school for Fairy kids who live in the Central Star and Far East regions

Mistleville (3) - Small town associated with romance; on the cherub migration route; has the tattoo parlor

LOWER WEST (GREEN)

The second most populous region in Fairy World. It’s sprinkled with small towns, many of which have a tourist town feel to them. Lots of restaurants in this region (especially small cafés). During years the Barrier is up, this region sees the most Anti-Fairies since it hosts the Divide Gate. There are quite a few mountains in this region as well and not as many trees. Lots of cobblestone roads and some famous annual traditions like festivals and races.

In Timmy’s time period, the current Green Robe is Kentry Rushwings.

Names that originate from the Lower West Region are generally abstract, non-tangible things.

Sample Names: Cosmo, Poof, Dusty, Goldie, Sparkle, Wink, Dash, Whisper, Whistle, Dawn, Tint, Sunshine, Moonbeam

Shiverwings Fairy High (8) - High school for Fairy kids who live in the Lower West and High North regions

Hiero Town (7) - Small town above Cairo, Egypt that features the Pastel Bridge (the second Bridge between Earth and Fairy World)

Esterale (6) - Small mountain village that was once considered quite progressive (allowing Fairy/Anti-Fairy couples to live together, etc); somewhat fallen into ruin since the war; contains Beira’s temple

Fairy World Pet Store (6) - Again, fits the general tourist-y vibe

Fairywood (5) - Blonda, Simon Sparklefield, and Westley Periwinkle live here (Think Hollywood, USA)

Little Olympus (5) - Small border town between Fairy World and Anti-Fairy World; contains the sandwich shop where Anti-Marigold works

Fairynando Fairy High (5) - High school for Fairy kids who live in the Lower West and High North regions; located in Little Olympus

Godscress (3) - Large border city between Fairy World and Anti-Fairy World; contains the Breath Temple and the fancy candle store

Evadne River (3) - Large river that runs right past Godscress; named after a legendary figure in Anti-Fairy culture

HIGH NORTH (BLUE)

Fairy World’s least populated region. This region is usually quite cold year-round on every plane. Not good news for an ectothermic species, but the farmland in this area is great... Perhaps it has something to do with the Leaves Temple? Or is it the other way around? Either way, you’ll find lots of mountains, lots of farms, lots of animals, but not a lot of people or trees in this region.

In Timmy’s time period, the current Blue Robe is Cattahan Nightbloom.

Names that originate from the High North Region are less “whimsical” and less traditional (Naming your kid Juan instead of Juandissimo, Fergus instead of Fergusius, Lily instead of Liliana).

Sample Names: Eunice, Adelinda, Adriana, Wanda, Wendy, Noel, Benjamin, Arthur, Luther, Stanley, Richard, Lily, Emma, Reno

The Eros Nest (8) - Cupid’s headquarters

Cornflower City (4) - If you grew up in the High North region, chances are you lived in this diverse city or were friends with people who lived there. This city is thought to have rather progressive views and is stereotyped for philosophy. Contains the Leaves Temple.

Oberon Fairy Middle (4) - Middle school for Fairy kids who live in the Lower West and High North regions; located in Cornflower City

Frozen Garden Palace (4) - Neutral meeting building for the Supreme Fairy Council and ambassadors; also called the FGP

Abracatraz (1) - Prison for magical beings (Especially Anti-Fairies)

PIXIE WORLD

All of Pixie World is located within the Central Star (Purple) region on Plane 3

Pixie World is a city-state inhabited by pixies and, as of the May Blossom War, many refugees from Earth. Names that originate from this region are most similar to those originating from the High North. They do not sound whimsical and are considered boring, non-traditional names.

Inkblot City - Pixie World’s capital city; contains the rebuilt Water Temple; notably lacks factories (they outsource to Comet Falls)

Graydust Ridge - Large canyon near Inkblot City; the largest canyon in Fairy World (but smaller than Sablewood Canyon in Anti-Fairy World)

Pixie Woods - The woods bordering one side of Pixie World; Papillon Lake is located within these woods

Papillon Lake - Small, crowded apartment buildings for will o’ the wisps, lawn gnomes, elves, and other fae who left Earth during the May Blossom War. Could arguably be described as the slums, though the Pixies try to keep it clean and tidy and it has a lovely view of the lake

ANTI-FAIRY WORLD

HIGH SOUTH (NAVY)

The High South is the most developed (urban) region in Anti-Fairy World; you’ll find beaten walking paths, restaurants, libraries, and a handful of factories here. Buildings are strong, almost like small bunkers or forts. The Sugarslew Chocolate Factory was once located in Luna’s Landing, but the Head Pixie bought it out to turn it into a pharmaceutical factory.

You’ll also find forests of dark-leaved trees in this area (usually black or silver leaves). Most buildings are long, wide, and low. This region features the Divide Gate.

In Timmy’s time period, the current Navy Robe is Anti-Daryl Anti-Blackback.

Private names that originate from the High South Region usually contain two or three syllables and roll off the tongue in Snobbish, making them difficult for native Vatajasa speakers to pronounce.

Sample Names: Julius, Augustus, Alexander, Eleanor, Kelsia, Gloria, Melody, Gabriel, Nebula, Charlie, Harold, Lenora, Louise

Luna’s Landing (8) - Anti-Fairy World’s capital city; sits in a crater; contains the Love Temple (Think Nördlingen, Germany with tall cliffs)

Blue Castle (8) - Located a short flight through the woods from Luna’s Landing; residence of the High Count and High Countess

Crescent Lake (8) - A lake of dark water used by nobility for bathing; located behind the Blue Castle and a small mountain ridge

Anti-Fairy World Pet Store (6) - Inland, at the edge of the woods

Crowfeld (4) - Small town not far from Luna’s Landing; contains the fake Love Temple for tourists (the Fairy Chapel)

LOWER EAST (TEAL)

The least populated region in Anti-Fairy World. Features many mountains and caves. Acid pools and lava rivers can also be found throughout this region. Most buildings are very strong, tall, and have flat roofs. You’ll find a lot of natural features here and no big urban areas. When there are buildings, they help you appreciate nature (Ex: Cedarcross Point is the migration location and Camp Wannahurtastranger teaches Anti-Fairy kids useful outdoor skills).

In Timmy’s time period, the current Teal Robe is Anti-Alin Anti-Stormcrash.

Private names that originate from the Lower East Region are softer than Far West names, but are rarely more than two syllables long. They are often, though not always, based on an aspect of nature such as a plant or animal.

Sample Names: Minnow, Ashley, Wisp, Rose, Venus, Juno, Cleo, Soren, Rachel, Ivy, Olive, Horace, Noon, Fanny, Boulder, Sunrise, Autumn

Cedarcross Point (9) - Mountain town; Anti-Fairy migration destination in winter

Silverclaw Lake (8) - The fancy-schmancy fashion capital of the cloudlands (Think Paris, France but in the snow); the Charcoal Gentleman’s Club is located here

Sablewood Canyon (5) - The largest canyon in the cloudlands

Soil Temple (5) - Cave systems (Think Lima, Peru). Ilisa Maddington died here

Anti-Fairy Academy (4) - Building full of offices and labs where researchers can work, but classes aren’t held face-to-face

Hangover City (4) - Anti-Pixie World’s capital (and only) city; up on the cliffs overlooking a steep drop (See “Clash With the Anti-World”)

Camp Wannahurtastranger (1) - Summer camp; mostly for Anti-Fairy kids; Anti-Cosmo and Anti-Wanda manage it personally (Anti-Cosmo gave it as a gift to Anti-Wanda on their 793rd anniversary)

FAR WEST (MAROON)

Far West is considered the “original” hub of Anti-Fairy culture; back in the day, the majority of Anti-Fairies lived with their Fairy counterparts, but they often traveled during migration season. Far West was a nice place for Anti-Fairies to mingle without straying too far from their counterparts.

When Anti-Fairy culture sprang up around the Blue Castle, the High South Region became the new center of Anti-Fairy activity. As a result, Far West looks a bit old and run down (Think of it as a small Rome- still impressive, but the old glory has passed). The buildings here are pretty, but made of lighter and more fragile material than elsewhere in Anti-Fairy World.

In Timmy’s time period, the current Maroon Robe is Anti-Ted Anti-Sweep.

Private names that originate from the Far West Region are rarely more than one syllable. They sound sharp, making them easy to call from afar. Most Anti-Fairies in the Far West region speak Vatajasa as a first language.

Maplefeather Point (9) - Woodland tourist town; a spa owned by the Anti-Fernfire family; Anti-Fairy migration destination in summer

Thornpetal Town (9) - Low-income neighborhoods of anti-will o’ the wisps; you’ll sometimes find anti-wisps in big cities, but they usually gather in this area

Oakfall Town (8) - Anti-Cosmo’s mom’s hometown (Think Venice, Italy)

Lake Sunflicker (8) - The deepest lake in the cloudlands; located near Oakfall Town (2,574 wingspans deep)

Shadeblink (6) - Anti-Fairy World’s second largest city; contains the Fire Temple (Think Rome, Italy)

Seasonal Temple (3) - A temple to the twelve nature spirits who represent the twelve months on the Anti-Fairy calendar; each spirit takes a turn as the dominant spirit of the temple, so if you want to visit one you must visit in their month

Engadget The Mova is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset (instead of the 835 as used by the Focus and the Quest), 6GB of RAM (instead of the usual 4GB) and a 4,600mAh battery (the Quest has 3,648mAh). XRSpace didn’t specify the nature of the 2,880 x 1,440 display panel nor its field of view, but we do know that it has a slick 90Hz refresh rate and a whopping 702 dpi pixel density, both of which are much higher than its rivals, and due to using a smaller display panel. Questions remain, however, for when we get to try the device: would you prefer higher pixel density or a larger view?The Mova will ship with a single controller for gaming purposes, but it’s designed to be used with hand tracking as the primary control method. This, in theory, would lower the learning barrier for most people, and they would probably use the headset more often because of its less fiddly nature. But the company wants hand gestures to be a core interaction in its virtual world, Manova. And this is where things get different from VR headsets that we’ve seen already.Once you’re inside one of the Manova spaces (more on that later), you can toggle most common social gestures with natural movements: you can shake hands with other avatars, give high fives, do fist bumps or toast with a glass. You can even grab and throw objects, meaning you can shoot hoops or throw darts with your buddies who are actually miles away in real life. There’s also a gesture for teleportation: tap in the air with your index finger to toggle an arrow, then point at your desired spot and tap again to teleport.Since the Mova is a 6DoF VR headset, you can walk around physically as you do virtually. The biggest surprise here is that the inside-out cameras here can apparently just about track your legs, so you’re able to play simple soccer games with others in VR as well. It sounds intriguing, but I’ll wait to see how this fares once I’ve tried the headset properly.For the same reason, XRSpace lets you put on a full-body avatar by default, as opposed to making do with floating half-body versions like some VR social platforms do.

Engadget Avatar features are easily written off as gimmicks, but Chou believes it’s core to making VR work when it comes to social interactions.“Today, one of the reasons why VR is not that exciting, is not getting that level of immersiveness, is that it's lacking very good digital avatars,” the exec reasoned. “Today, most of the digital avatars are cartoonish and half body, really not something that we can call your ‘digital self.’ So what we really want to do is to let people really actually recognize this is you.”These upgraded avatars, along with higher-quality skin textures, AI-based natural facial expression and natural limb movements, come from the time Chou spent working at effects studio, Digital Domain.Chou hopes that users would then stick to the same “digital self” when meeting with families and friends, or when joining meetings and lessons. But of course, there’s no stopping you from making your avatar look bizarre for the more casual applications. “We don't prohibit that.”

Engadget Rather than relying on an existing VR platform like Viveport or Steam, XRSpace has bigger ambitions when it comes to content and services. The main foundation of that is Manova, which is basically XRSpace’s take on VR social platforms like VRChat or Rec Room. This hub is also your headset’s main interface.With private spaces, you can meet up with family, friends or acquaintances in your virtual home, meeting room, classroom, cinema or even private beach. You’ll obviously be able to watch videos, play mini-games, or fiddle with virtual objects together in those scenarios.If you want to make things a bit more realistic, the Mova headset offers a feature called “Space Scanning” which, as you can probably tell by the name, can scan a physical room and turn it into a virtual space. In a quick video I saw, the user would simply walk around a room and let the headset’s front optical sensors do the work. I couldn’t tell what the scan quality was like, but apparently you’ll able to redecorate this virtual room before inviting people over.To bolster this ambitious feature pitch, the startup has already secured one of Taiwan’s largest real estate agencies, YC House, to launch VR house-viewing tours in Q3. XRSpace is also working with furniture retailers and travel agencies to take advantage of this feature, so that customers can preview their purchases or destinations before making the jump.XRSpace is also working on bringing VR education and VR collaboration to institutions and companies. In Taiwan, there are already at least four schools on board to integrate Manova for remote learning. Similarly, XRSpace claims that its bank customers are also interested in using Mova as a remote meeting and training solution.

Engadget Things get a lot more interesting when you head out to public spaces. You start from a city center which acts as a hub, from there you can head to parks, beaches, night clubs and cinemas, in which you can hang out with friends or meet people from around the world.Then you have MagicLOHAS, which is essentially a suite of wellness activities that you can participate with other people in VR. There’s yoga, tai chi, meditation, dancing, stretching and even brain training, all of which can take place on top of a mountain, by the sea or in the woods. XRSpace tapped a handful of wellness experts to add virtual instructors to each activity, but users will have to wear body trackers — sold separately — to leverage this service.The remaining public spaces are basically portals to music, VR videos and VR games. The music part will be handled by carriers, whereas videos will come from partners like AirPano, Insta360, Digital Domain and various local content partners. In Taiwan’s case, Vogue and GQ are already on board, and XRSpace is also working with a local baseball team to integrate live signal into Manova’s virtual stadium.As for VR games, the notable ones include Resolution Games’ Angry Birds VR and fishing game Bait!, along with Futuretown’s mini-golfing game Cloudlands 2 and shooting game A-10 VR. It’s unclear how many of these titles will be compatible with the headset’s hand gesture input, though, and it’ll need to convince many more game developers to pick up its SDK — available today — in order to catch up with the competition in this space. Meanwhile, Oculus is already adding gesture-based games to the Quest’s library later this week.XRSpace’s Mova is a hugely ambitious VR headset, at a time when the sector has struggled to truly breakthrough to the mainstream. And that’s before the list price of $599. While the ideas are unique, it’ll need to work extra hard to tempt regular consumers. XRSpace is hoping that carriers will help them out. For Taiwan, XRSpace is launching its headset with Chunghwa Telecom, whereas in the West, Deutsche Telekom will be bringing the Mova to Europe in the near future. We’ll be keeping an eye out on US availability and a chance to properly experience the device. Mandelro froze, fingers tight on the rocky ridges, as she and I lifted our wands in sync. “And we’re… your Fairy godparents!”

In which Anti-Cosmo and Wanda visit their Boudacian godkid in the Summer of the Flaming Clouds, and Anti-Cosmo meets a green-haired fairy with an unmentionably horrible job.

Godparents For Hire

Well, I thought, prepping easy-to-grab sandwiches to stock the icebox with, this promises to be a semester I’ll never forget. The sandwiches had been Mona’s idea. Even without tasting them, I could already tell she was brilliant… Not that that was a surprise. I’d be grateful for these things when I was on the go. Especially since I was making all mine without cheese. I’d bought special stickers just for this occasion: blue circles for my wraps and pink ones for Wanda’s. I had orange stickers on hand for Mandelro, just in case we ever had to feed him on short notice before a school club or sport or… whatever it was Boudacian kids did after classes released.

“What do you think, Lohai? Does he sound more like a boar-lover or a pheasant fan to you?”

Her lantern rested on the counter with me, but the only response I got from her was a sleepy sort of hum. Ah, genies… You can’t do a thing with them when the pregnancy’s this far along, wot? They really are so very sweet.

One thing had become apparent quite quickly last night: Wanda and I both liked sticking to a schedule if we could get our minds around it. Ha. Jotting down ideas didn’t cause me any trouble. That was the easy part. Now, the commitment to hitting my tasks at the right time of day…

Well, you never could predict that. It varied by the season, if I must be honest. And it varied by my mood. My daily ritual of pheromone application, the oils smeared across my cheeks, certainly seemed to have taken the edge off my wild ups and downs. I’d picked up two new bottles before our study abroad began. “Let’s hope they don’t drip in the sandwiches,” I muttered, and wrapped the sandwich in a wrinkled mulberry leaf for Wanda. Very filling. If she didn’t eat it, I certainly would. I marked it with a sticker and into the pile it went. Last one for the morning. I threw my hands in the air, smirking wide for no one but Lohai to see.

“Haha! And soon, not only shall I master lunch preparation, but I shall conquer premade dinners, too! … I’m thinking mushroom soup. Oh Lohai, you’ll be so proud of me… I’m prepping meat for her meals, and I’m not writhing on the floor!”

“Meat sounds nice,” Lohai murmured. Her voice echoed through the lantern. Oh, pooh… All my yelling mustn’t make for a relaxing naptime environment.

“Sorry, my dear,” I whispered, and went about cleaning the counters as quick as I could.

Our schedule for today looked quite simple, really (Smashingly so, I might add). Even now, Wanda was well on her way to Boudacia with our rat cage in hand. Once there, she would set the beginnings of a portal underneath the crawl dish. I’d take up the end of the so-called magic thread she’d left behind, intertwine her spell with my own, and set the receiving end. Here in Carriage Corner, I’d pair the magic with a special closet door set aside explicitly for such a purpose. Now, presuming that I did it right - and as a long-time demon summoner, I had no doubt in my coordination - we ought to score high-class marks that would set us up for weeks to come. By the end of the week, Wanda and I were both due to turn in a write-up about our experience. Simple enough.

Portals came in many shapes and forms. Far too many things could go wrong with such a spell, but I didn’t worry. Technically speaking, Wanda had the more difficult job (and a much longer morning). We’d agreed it was best I stay behind given my history of unpredictably unstable magic. Why, I might fly out to Boudacia and land myself unable to contact her, unable to form my half of the portal link, and unable to travel far to get back home. And given that her crown floated higher above her head than mine, I felt quite certain that Wanda had more power to give in the first place. Yes… all the better that she travelled out while I stockpiled sandwiches for the rest of our week.

Could portals really work if a fairy cast one end and an anti-fairy the other? Every twitch and curl of magic in my system churned at the thought. I ran through the steps again. Soon enough, Wanda would launch the spell my way. I simply had to prepare myself to draw it in, then tie it off. Nothing to it. I’d closed gates after my demon summoning plenty of times, not to mention watched Mona spay or neuter a few animals, so locking down the waypoint’s local end seemed exactly the right fit.

This, you may have guessed, did leave me twiddling my thumbs for a lengthy time as Wanda skimmed across the universe. So when I’d made all the sandwiches we had bread for, I sought out my faithful friend and study partner. Whyever not? I tapped on her door until she opened it, halfway through re-dyeing her hair from brown to pretty pale yellow. Oh, she looked a dreadful mess with dye dripping down her face, but I knew in that moment she cared nothing for embarrassment. She didn’t hide herself. She, in her imperfect beauty, came to speak with me. I shall cut to the underlying point without dressing it in the talk-around-the-subject way my people do:

"Blonda, I need a favour… I do so hate to ask, but I don’t see how they’d give the information I’m looking for directly to an Anti-Fairy. Could you perhaps, if it isn’t inconvenient, track down a fairy named Lucas Rainwings? He's…" I hesitated, air hissing through my teeth. "He's my nana's fairy partner, but they were separated by the war. Before things become… even remotely physical between you and I, I'd like to talk to him. I'm quite certain he's still alive." My nana had implied as much over migration when she'd told me she keeps away from him on purpose out of mercy for the Rhoswen syndrome raging in his head. Ha. Mercy.

Blonda looked curious, not nearly as annoyed to be given this task as I'd feared. "I didn't know you had relatives in a cross-Court relationship."

"Well, they aren't together anymore, but I'm technically his grandpup. Really, I don’t know how I’d go about finding him- Fairy World is huge and I’ve only seen a small portion of it, not to mention my border pass grants me only limited wandering. I do wish I could meet him, though. Not even my mum ever met my biological grandfather, and my nana always mentions Lucas as her partner before she mentions Anti-Jasper. So terribly sorry to drop this all on you; I didn't think of it any sooner."

Send me a 👋 and a character from a fandom I'm in and I'll share a relevant WIP snippet if I have one (or a random headcanon if I don't) [x]

I don't have any show-able WIPs for Peri, but here's a grown Poof from Cloudlands AU (from a WIP I started years ago and am not sure I'll ever finish, but it makes me laugh).

The concept here is that Foop gets kicked out of the school waggle dance for "being culturally insensitive" (despite the blatant Tarrow dance parallels the school lets Fairies participate in), so he sulks back at the dorm and Poof and Goldie come to visit him.

“How do you say good-bye?” “We don’t have an exact word for good-bye.” “Awww,” Poof and Goldie cooed at the same time. Goldie went on to say, “That’s so cute!” Foop took a sip of numeg. “We say, ‘We’ll finish this another day.’” “What’s the word that means ‘Fairy’?” “That’s Põnnetolm, or ‘Emotional dust.’” “Like the Pokémon?” Poof asked without apparently thinking. “Yes, Poof. Exactly like the Pokémon.” “So is ‘Anti-Fairy’ ‘Anti-Ponytahl’?” “Põnnetolm. You really have to purse your lips on the first syllable and pull them on on the oo. And no, ‘Anti-Fairy’ is Rhabasatma.” “Oh, I think that’s what Ponyta evolves into.” Foop sighed. “It means, ‘magical life from smoke.’”

"Let's Speak Vatajasa" (Cloudlands AU)

One of my headcanons for Peri (in City Lights AU) is that he's a lot less educated on Anti-Fairy culture than Cloudlands Poof is... mostly due to the fact that City Lights Peri ages differently and is much, much younger.

But also, City Lights Peri is always frantically trying to pick up the pieces of his life. His studies are hard, his dating life's falling apart, his parents are out of the picture (on vacation), he's still struggling with missing Timmy, he has major jealousy issues with Chloe and her friendship with Foop...

There's a lot going on there. He really doesn't make time to get to know Irep or understand his culture the way that Cloudlands Poof does with Foop. Poof has a lot of cultural blindspots as well, but he's a lot more humble, sympathetic, and willing to take critique.

I live for the "chill bf/gf" Poof & Anti-Marigold friendship solidarity as they watch their much bigger, louder, more eccentric partners host events and make scary decisions. They are my favorites.

Peri wishes he had what Poof has, but he will not put forth the effort to maintain a close friendship with an anti-wisp, as he's totally bought into all the derogatory things the media says. Peri puts all his friendship efforts in Goldie's basket (plus his roommate relationship with Sammy), and it backfires hard when tensions run high between them. It's why he's so dang clingy to her... He doesn't have other close friendships, and Sammy's off doing his big boy job because he did well in school and is making a life for himself. Peri feels like Goldie is his everything. Without her, he has nowhere else to go.

Foop's spent his life fighting for every scrap of respect his Fairy classmates see fit to give him. Exhausted by the complex dance of supporting his mother through a war, juggling his mistress with his actual betrothed, and struggling to restrain an alternate personality growing ever more protective and bitter, you have to wonder... is chasing universal domination even worth it anymore?

Denzel Crocker and Happy Peppy Gary - Fairy World's most wanted miscreants - have been summoned for community service at Spellementary School. Crocker has bid farewell to Dimmsdale Elementary and Gary..... has already said his good-byes.

Don't expect any record scratches or straight answers about how they got here, though. As our title suggests, we're skipping to the END of the arc as Gary and Denzel think about the past... and how awful it is to grieve in a world where time was frozen for 50 years.

A/N - Content warning for nightmare and yoo-doo doll.

Opening scene is a trauma-induced flashback nightmare. It shows the aftereffects of someone who was injured via yoo-doo doll. All damage people take (including the yoo-doo doll) is canon-typical violence shown on-screen in show, but the main target is a human, so the situation is darker than it would be with a fairy.

There's no blood, but the nightmare might be upsetting. If you're sensitive, you may want to skip the italicized opening section-- in other words, you'd want to NOT read what's below, and just go straight to the FFN or AO3 links and skip the italics. Enjoy(?)!

Year of Fire, Autumn of the Thawed Calendar

Buxaplenty's fairy is dying and Cabrera is screaming. Denzel didn't see what the buff, soul-crushing, and almost certainly SKULL-crushing Head Fairy did to him. Only that the hallway lights are blazing in and out of focus, humming with the threat of a power overload, and Gary is screaming above the crackled lightning. As Denzel sprints away, those screams turn to pleading sobs.

"No, no! Please, no! Don't put me in there!"

And then his cries melt into nothing at all.

Gary Cabrera is dead. Or if he's not dead back there, he got totally wrecked. May as well have attended the Dimmsdale Demolition Derby. Think of it! Fairy World's most wanted before they even knew he wanted them! Out like a snuffed candle! It's both gruesome and poetic. Horrifically cruel and terribly effective.

Denzel doesn't stop running. Oh, CENSORED nope.

"Wake up, you paycheck-booster!" he demands of the unconscious fairy in his arms, but even lightly slapping the muscular fairy's cheek isn't enough to rouse him. He's not dead. Can't be. Fairies… don't… die.

But Magnifico's head lolls to one side, his eyes - once filled with hope and starlight - lie open. Staring at nothing. Denzel skids around the next corner, fairy clamped to his chest with one hand and a lifted butterfly net in the other. No one stops him within those first two seconds. Gary stays silent down the hall, the lights no longer flickering overhead. The silence scrapes like a rusty razor down his skin.

Fairies and cherubs are in a crisis at the end of the hall. He only needs to make it halfway there, then veer left into the control room. He can make it. There's no other choice. Denzel inhales and plows forward. His shoes smack against the floor. Someone - far away - shouts in a high-pitched cloudland accent, like they've been sanity-deprived for far too long and have to let somebody know. Denzel lashes his butterfly net. He's not anywhere near them. It's just a threat.

"Magnifico, up and at 'em! Or I'll give you an F for FAILURE OF A FAIRY!"

The fairy's black hair streams against his arm. It tore loose from its ponytail long ago. Denzel suspects it must have been magic, not a hair tie, that kept those strands in place. What was it Gary said about blue magic? It's classified as "correction magic," though also associated with reluctance, irritation, rashness, and stress.

Here's the important part- items, spells, and hexes created out of blue will always shut down when a fairy falls asleep. Evidently, passing out counts as sleep just as well.

Purple magic undoes itself upon a fairy's death. It's emotion that picks the color of magic, not mere desire… So what did Magnifico use on his hair? He doesn't feel dead, but he isn't breathing. Not uncommon for creatures who soak in magic instead of oxygen to survive… but still.

How did this happen? Buxaplenty was watching the cameras! Everyone is at the Fairy World Games! No one knew they were coming, no one should have found them here… Denzel glances up at the lights as they buzz and snarl again. He puffs his cheeks like a gerbil and scampers like a mouse. Ooh, this is not as fun as he thought it would be when dancing a compass across his blueprints. His lungs might just give out on him right here and now. He's kept in decent shape as he's grown older, never taking any risk that a fairy might outrun him someday, but that doesn't mean he's not exhausted. The weight of it all is dragging down his eyelids. And his hunch.

There! Fairy World Archives' not-so-secret security room! It's even labeled that way! Metal nameplate on the door! Only one small guard has rushed fast enough to make it. Denzel smashes the butterfly net down on his head to take him out of commission. The fairy SCREAMS! Unimportant. Pathetic, really- it's good fun to be so feared.

Half the buildings in Fairy World don't even have proper doors, but this one does. Denzel kicks it open as hard as he can. Ka-BAM! Double scream. The door's wood is magical, but crumples like a napkin in the face of a furious human heel. He broke it like a beetle shell.

Is Buxaplenty here? Still breathing? It feels so wrong to save the immortal fairy and leave the human child behind to die, isn't it? Not only that, but he badly wants to know if Buxaplenty totally went and stabbed them in the back. Is he sitting at the cameras with the fairy cops and-?

… Oh.

The sound of the door bashing against the wall echoes down the hallway. It isn't returned by a shriek of alarm as Buxaplenty whips around in his swivel chair. In fact, Buxaplenty doesn't say anything. He lies slumped over at the control panel. Not moving. His green eyes are pinned open, like his fairy's, but they're unseeing. His breaths hiss short and fast.

He doesn't react to the door.

He doesn't react to Denzel or to the frozen fairy in his arms.

He… he looks like he's in shock. Total, utter shock, and suddenly Magnifico passing out makes a lot more sense. Their appendixes are still linked. The fairy can feel his godchild's pain. Denzel feels a twitch in the back of his neck. He jumps his eyes from the slumped-over Buxaplenty to the yoo-doo doll on the floor.

It's there and undeniable. The battered yoo-doo doll - blond and broken - stares at the ceiling with the same frozen expression now stitched across the boy's face. Buxaplenty is twisted at the desk, clutching his shoulder. He's shaking.

The doll on the floor does not have an arm. Yeah, that would do it, wouldn't it? Who wrecked him like this? Denzel stands there by the kicked-in door, gawking, as icy fingers creep across his skin. Oh… He might know now why Harrington's communicator cut off when she screamed. His heart lurches in his chest, swinging like a pendulum. His grandfather would have done swell with a ticker like that inside his clock.

"B… Buxaplenty?"

Ding-dong!

"I am not!" Denzel screams, bolting up in bed. Hhh- hhh- He scrambles for his glasses. His hand bangs the nightstand and bends with a twist. He knocks his water glass to the floor with a crash. Hhh- hhh…

… Hhh…

Gracie Made All Of Annette's Dresses

Alright, let's get started!

So, I had been thinking about this for a while and I was like: Why not have Gracie learn sewing? Considering she's lived through the 60s, 70s, 80s, and early 90s, it wouldn't be ridiculous thing to pick up maybe a lesser known talent. So, I got to thinking of narratives:

Gracie is a mostly forward person, but even as she grew up, she had a divided taste in fashion, especially in the 80s. On one hand, she loved the vibrant neon colors and fabric that came with the new decade, but sometimes the mother in her turned her head from the more newer designs. Gracie guessed the girl from the 50s inside her preferred more classic and somewhat conservative looks to what else was being worn nowadays [80s]. Just don't get her started on two-piece bikinis! (It was one thing having the top part as a mermaid, where there was nothing to show from the waist below, but the bottom part was something she still needed getting used to.)

But that didn't mean she didn't enjoy new ideas! Working in a restaurant as a manager paid the bills but she enjoyed working on her artwork most of all (tied with spending time with her daughter, Annette.)

However, she wasn't blind. Her daughter was entering her teen years and for the curly, blonde hair she inherited from her father, Annette - to the dimples, high cheekbones, and rose cheeks - got all the beauty from Gracie, which made both of them head-turners, unfortunately.

However, unlike her mother's reservations, Annette was immersed in the 80s trends of big hair, scrunchies, leg warmers, fingerless gloves, leotards , oversized shirts, plastic bangles, large funky earrings in neon shades, mesh accents, fanny packs and pearl necklaces (probably the only thing in regards to accessory Gracie appreciated!)

Gracie HATED it all! The 80s was very materialistic and all about flaunting wealth and who payed the price for all these fancy and designer clothes!? Where did the pearls come from? How much labor went into sewing a shopping out clothes to stores? What about the work laborers and the excessive need to mass-produce at fast rates? What happened to quality over quantity!?

(Annette got these lectures every time she asked for something out of a catalog and just beared with it.)

In some ways, it was lucky enough that Gracie preferred handcrafted quality items, with the occasional vintage jewelry found in second-rate stores and market stalls. She enjoyed the classics, but there was something divine in wearing something handmade. Back when her husband was alive and she lived on the military base with him, she had told this to a friend and fellow army wife one day, who reckoned her an "Old Soul" and suggested she take up sewing if she disliked name-brand clothes so much. At the time, she never considered it, but it wasn't a foreign concept. She grew up in a well-to-do family and her mother always made her dresses for special occasions. From her evening gowns to her school formal, perhaps there was something to it that she could do for her future child. Alas, it wasn't easy, but she had her mother and local wives to help with her exciting projects! Even once she left, she never really stopped making dresses.

If anything, she found it challenging to make dresses to prove to Annette that homemade was better than store brand! And especially bring the 50s to the 80s!

The Debutante Dress (Age 16- 1981)

Ah, the debutante ball. A girl's coming out to society and the elegance of being accepted as a lady - and there was just something about that flowing white, silk dress that Gracie just loved! When she had the first opportunity to be a part of one, it was for charity and her mother convinced her. To be frank, the etiquette lessons were a bore and the only real excitement was the dance lessons. Looking back, those lessons did pay off whenever she had to attend functions with her husband. She and Julia had been selected and their escorts had been Max and Karl (perhaps that was the only reason Julia took fancy to the entire event.) It had been held at the Cloudland Ballroom and been an invigorating event! She danced all night in the gown her mother made for her and she felt like the wind gliding through the air.

So perhaps it was destined that the very ballroom (unaware of its drastic fate) would be danced upon by Gracie's daughter, the very floor where she once danced with her first love and later met and fell in love with her future husband! Annette however wasn't taking being a debutante so well and fought every minute of it. It took time to get her stubborn daughter to get used to the idea and perhaps her hand-sewn dress also helped:

Halloween Costume

This one caused a fight between mother and daughter. See, while Annette wasn't going all-out Disney, she requested a princess dress that would make her stand out. And Gracie did just that, only it mirrored something more traditional with a red cloak when what Annette wanted was something more glamorous. The fight wasn't bad (compared to the ones they'd have in the future) but it did leave Gracie a bit heartbroken and the girls in separate rooms. Eventually, Annette came around and apologized, saying she'll still wear it. (Which she wouldn't regret seeing as a lot of people enjoyed a more realistic take of medieval fantasies!)

First Date

Annette had her first date! Gracie knew that he was taking her out on a beach date (Sugtons Beach) and wanted to express just that. Turns out her date was the one who was commented Annette on her Halloween costume! Annette had nothing to wear and consulted with Gracie again, this time asking if she owned anything and could modernize it. Well...Gracie did have something, but though she herself thought it could have been done better, Annette loved it! [10 points to whoever recognizes such a design from H2O!]

Year 11 Formal (age 17 - 1982)

The formal was the first dance Annette had gone without a date and was just going with her girlfriends. She turned out to like her mother's sewing skills and told her she didn't want anything too fancy to go in. However, she begged her to make it something 80s-like! But alas, Gracie could only grant that request so much before she had her artbook in one hand and needle & thread in another! [With a reference to a dress Tiffany Lamb (Annette) to rein the 80s!)

Wedding Guest

Annette and Gracie had been invited to a wedding! Well, it was more of a vow renewal, as the couple were old friends of parents back when they lived on the base and had a bit of a nostalgic touch! Considering Gracie was a bit of the same way, she found an old dress she owned when she was 16 and spruced it up a bit for Annette.

Dance Party Dress

After so much time and begging, this would be the ONLY dress Annette got from her that even resembled the 80s glitz and glam they once fought over. To be fair, the glitz existed in the 60s but she wasn't a fan of them. However, Annette was over the moon once she saw this:

Yearbook Photos

Annette may have been getting only a headshot for her school yearbook photos, but Gracie wanted to make memories. With the help of a friend, she and Annette took pictures all over Brisbane to add to the photo album. And once again that pesky beauty the mother and daughter shared cropped up when someone thought it was a genuine photo shoot and tried to recruit Annette into modeling! Gracie herself was a model in her teens and while she can say she had a good experience, there was a reason she never joined the industry full time! Luckily for her, Annette was more into becoming an inspiring chef than photos.

Year 12 Formal (age 18 - 1983)

At this point, Gracie had decided to take her daughter's advice and try to at least incorporate modern 80s with the classic 50s, and at the right time. Unlike the last formal, this time, Annette had a date, Gracie decided to do something to reflect the occasion. It also hit her how much she changed herself at 17 (most, she would never bring herself to tell Annette) and found herself designing a dress that brought back an old memory.

Gracie's 50th Birthday (age 25 - 1990)

There must have been a hint of irony in the world as for as Gracie knew. For weeks, her daughter had been quite secretive and she couldn't guess why. And when she questioned her son-in-law, he had the nerve to be cheeky and not confide in her daughter's secrets (but then again, that's how she knew he was the one for Annette!). However, during that time, she had asked once more for a dress. At the time, it had been year's and the last thing she made was the veil and reception dress for her daughter's wedding (the wedding dress she wore ended up being the one from the Debutante ball.) However, that night of her 50th birthday, Annette presented her a gift: A seafoam blue dress with pearls that she recognized as being something out of the 80s (irony Is that she liked the dresses when the 90s hit!) Annette has made it - with help, as she didn't inherit the skill from her mother and grandmother. She, Annette, and her son-in-law went out to what she thought was some fancy dinner...when it was revealed to be a small dance hall with the theme: Cloudland. Everyone they knew from friends (old and new) to coworkers, and even strangers she befriended who kept in touch, attended the party. She did raise an eyebrow at Annette being fit for the 50s while she was in the 80s...at least until an old song started playing and Annette asked her to dance...dance to the very song she fell in love with her father to. And then, she told her the most surprising news: She was to be a grandmother.
