I can’t get over how funny it is that ‘the Council distrusted Obi-Wan’ and ‘the Council felt he was tOo aTtAchED’ and ‘they still had misgivings over him being a Jedi because of his childhood in JA’ and ‘they didn’t like that he was taught by Qui-Gon’ are like, actual fanons, that exist in the fandom, that are semi-regularly seen in fics. 

They PUT HIM on the Council. He basically becomes one of the ‘top three’ with Mace and Yoda despite being the youngest. There isn’t a single Jedi that we ever see in the movies or TCW who dislikes Obi-Wan lmao. He’s the Force’s gift to the Order. The Council spends the whole RotS novelization like: 🥰🥰🥰 and “have you seen our (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*✲ﾟ*｡⋆ ✨son✨”

Can you tell me which movies, books, comics etc, should i watch/read to get into star wars? I found out about obikin though ffs and i love it!! I really want to get to know more about them

fair warning: star wars is a rabbit hole that goes far deeper than you could possibly imagine. it looks like a puddle and then you step in it and it's actually a lake and you're drowning. so watch out! that said, you're in for a treat bc there's SO MUCH material available.

all the star wars material is basically divided into tiers of credibility, with canon films at the top and legends comics at the bottom. it's best to start at tier 1, move to tier 2 when that's done, and so forth, or else you might get a slightly skewed understanding of the lore.

tier 1: the movies. there's the six core lucas movies, the prequels and the original trilogy, which are the gold standard. that's the heart of it. if you haven't seen them, that's your first task. then other movies like rogue one, the clone wars, solo, the sequels if you feel the need, can round out your understanding of the scope of the lore.

tier 2: the tv shows. there's so many of these and hundreds of hours of content to pick through that fill in gaps between movies. the clone wars is your source for so much obikin interaction. the kenobi show is essential for vaderwan. andor is just good tv, skeleton crew is coming out now and also good. rebels and bad batch are excellent too. there is the mandalorian and other sequels era stuff too.

tier 3: canon books and comics. of the film novelizations (which i still consider solid canon despite disney deciding ex post facto they are not), i highly recommend stover's revenge of the sith. it's the most important book to obikin and one of the best star wars books in general. disney has put out some good canon star wars books, (lords of the sith, padawan, ahsoka, i've heard good things about the thrawn series) and GREAT comics, especially the darth vader run, which i highly highly recommend. all marvel star wars seems to hit so if you like comics you really cannot go wrong reading through any of the 2015-onward marvel comics.

tier 4: legends books and comics my beloved, while wildly varying quality, the good is so so so good. most of the prequels books are now classed this way but were canon when the prequels came out. there is a lot of obikin in books by karen miller (wild space, clone wars gambit). i love all books by james luceno (darth plagueis, labyrinth of evil). greg bear's rogue planet is wonderful for young anakin and young master obi-wan. there's a YA series called jedi quest which has them too. an example for obikin comics is star wars: obsession, part of the larger dark horse republic run, which is good.

i just found a list i made earlier of books with obi-wan and anakin in them if you want to check that out, but star wars extends far beyond the boys if you want to explore. there's just so much good lore and entertainment out there if you look <33

Hi, so this isn't really a question. I just wanted to thank you. I've been checking your posts for a bit and because of you I decided to give a try to the Clone Wars Karen Miller novels. Wouldn't have done it other wise. Honestly I didn't enjoy Wild Space much. Felt like there was some sporadic brightness between a lot of stuff that bored me. The interactions between Obi-Wan and Bail didn't really made it for me. Gambit though. I'm right now in chapter 9 of Stealth and I'm loving everything. It's exactly what I wanted the way I wanted it. So many good moments so far. So many good interactions. So many nice paragraphs of inisght into both Anakin and Obi-Wan.

I liked that talk they had in the Archives so much. Anakin expressing his worry for Ahsoka, Rex and his soldiers while not really wanting to express it fearing Obi-Wan will give him another lecture about attachment and then Obi-Wan admitting to Anakin that knowing him has made him a better Jedi, and after that regretting that he should've said that earlier because there should be a place for praise too and not just for lectures.

And then on their way to Bail's house, Anakin mentioning his mom and how he built 3PO to apolgize to her when he was late... Ah, it's so good. Wish The Clone Wars show had more moments like this.

I love that show, it's what made me a fan of Star Wars and their banter there is wonderful. But honestly, that little moment in Stealh was honestly better than any funny moment or sassy line that those two have in the show (not saying those moments between them aren't good or their relationship isn't well portrayed. Just saying this stuff in the novel is more of my thing)

This novel is so good. So underrated. 100 % an obligatory reading for anyone who calls themselves and Obi-Wan and/or Anakin fan.

I'm just so glad this novel is allowing Obi-Wan to be so human and Anakin so... Vulnerable.

It's like Padme says. He takes it personal. He feels responsible. He wants to fix everything that's broken. That shit gives me life lol.

I like the badass cool Anakin from The Clone Wars but the real man behind General Skywalker, the real person behind the Hero With No Fear facade it's more interesting and relatable.

You’re welcome! It makes me so happy discovering some of the awesome content the EU has to offer. And let me tell you, Karen Miller is one of the very best when it comes to writing prequel Era, specially Padmé, Ahsoka, Anakin and Obi-wan. She’s not as ….dramatic…as Stover but oh boy she’s written some of the most beautiful moments in star wars.

made the mistake of going into taria damsin's tag and there are several posts about how it's so refreshing that taria's "not just a plot device to die just to add pain and angst to obi wan’s life" and it's so nice she's not just another "female character used as a disposable plot device to show us how different he is from anakin" and not just "a mirror to anakin and padme"

as if she was not introduced in a book LITERALLY JUST TO DIE AND CAUSE OBI WAN ANGST. specifically in the form of anakin. to whom they compare SPECIFICALLY IN THE TEXT his relationship with padme. as if she was not LITERALLY INTRODUCED AS A DISPOSABLE (killed within the same two part book series that she was introduced in) PLOT DEVICE to compare anakin to obi wan. how different they react to loved ones dying, romantic attachments, etc. as if she wasn't introduced specifically to cause angst AND puff up obi wan AND stir up obi wan anakin padme drama (babygirl is multitasking!). as if anakin and obi wan don't have a WHOLE ASS ARGUMENT ABOUT IT where they COMPARE THEM DIRECTLY to anakin and padme. IN THE TEXT ITSELF.

For anyone into Dark Empire (and Mara!), this is required reading!

Dark Empire fyi is the Legends comic series where Palpatine comes back through clones (lolz) and Luke turns in his quest for knowledge.

I know I've been thinking about DE a great deal (it's a pet timeline). I've always said LOVE the concept of DE and hate its execution. These set of fics unpack canon ("canon," lol I see you all, I see you Zahn, and your haterade, too) and make the psychological landscape of Luke way more intelligible. I love the twists, love the action, adore the character beats and the UST (omg). Please go shower the writer with comments and encourage her to gift us the finale when she can!

Chewed through Rebels season 1 already. I love this series so much. Its fetch. Like its not without early series hiccups but compared to The Clone Wars its a much smoother S1 for rewatches. I cant believe so many people gave this show so much hate for not being The Clone Wars. (Im pretty sure I have to put myself among that number.)

The Ghost crew is so fucking endearing, and the series runs the gambit of emotions that it makes me experience. The slapstick needs to find its footing at first, but I think it does so relatively swiftly and it starts giving me some genuine laughs pretty early on. I love watching Kanan and Ezra grow together, as Jedi. Chopper, Zeb, and Sabine are some of my favorite crewmates in Star Wars. I want Hera to be my mom, or my husband, or both? I dont totally know but AHHHHHHHH!!!1!! HERA, I LOVE YOU!!1! ♥｡:.ﾟヽ(ಥ∀ಥ)ﾉﾟ.:｡♥

Seeing The Grand Inquisitor in this really lowers my opinion of his appearance in Kenobi. This is not shade to Rubert Friend. Its more the look. He just doesnt look like a Pau'an when you compare him to his animated self or the glory of Bruce Spence in Ep3 RotS. More forehead, like at least 50% more, plz.

Im already upset theres only 4 seasons, and Im not even half way through. (ง ͠ಥ_ಥ)ง

reading the clone wars gambit series and thinking about the fact that the reason anakin continues to throw himself head first into danger, the reason he risks life and limb in increasingly violent confrontations during the war, is because he believes that if the prophecy is true, if he really is the chosen one, then it's his destiny to bring balance to the force, and the universe simply will not let him die before that destiny has been fulfilled
