Someone said it’s a Halloween store and I love that actually.
And while it’s jumping ahead, I really love DRAMATIC reveals after a long while of identity and secret shenanigans.
So we enter in our favorite sad man in a trench coat, the staple of Danny ends up in DC somehow.
Goodness knows what Constantine needs a more or less disposable puppet for, maybe to retrieve some dangerous magic thing that will destroy whoever retrieves it from its resting place, or just curses the absolute hell out of those who touch it. Normally it’s sealed away, but some dumbass took it out, and now it’s the Justice League’s problem. Constantine knows a few ways around it, one of them being to have a puppet of some kind. Puppet masters capable of having puppets that work as well as they’d need to get that stupid thing back in place are… rare.
But there are whispers of someone like that in Gotham. Specifically, Danny has had ‘volunteers’ consisting of his rogue gallery. It was a bid to throw off the bats that, by the way, did not work and frankly backfired. One hour of volunteer work was an hour where Danny Simply Did Not See what the idiots did so long as no one was hurt and property damage was both minimal and not bothering him personally. Again, backfired terribly. But it also meant that somewhere along the lines of them talking about ‘Phantom’s creepy-ass clone shop’ became the general somewhat-misunderstanding of what Danny was doing.
Poorly, if you asked him. He was doing poorly.
So, as these things go, with the background-quickly-becoming-foreground plot of this magic whatsit giving us Problems and Red Herrings, Constantine hears of these whispers and tracks down Danny, code name, eh. It probably got the telephone game treatment, so Phantom might not be the name Constantine heard, and Danny could easily choose to go ‘well, sure, Phantom’, with or without revealing his full ghost nature. He could also use a new code name, or the weird mangled version that Constantine used. (I’m gonna say Pantomime. Cause puppets, puppet strings, the hand gestures—it’s a stretch but it kind of works.) Point is! Danny is found and is dragged, possibly literally kicking and screaming, into this whole mess.
“Saul!” he shouts to his strongest duplicate puppet. A duplipuppet, if you will. Saul is short for Assault, as this month’s theme was ‘crimes’. “You’re in charge!”
Saul salutes, immediately beaming himself with the mop he was holding.
Danny is choosing to say it’s the programming’s fault, and not something he himself would do. Jazz would say he’s trying to make a perfect him and it’s going to end badly. Danny is also choosing to ignore that.
Anyways, Danny gets dragged in with appropriate dramatic timing into some warehouse with a bunch of other Justice League members, including the batfam.
“Is he our sorcerer? The one that took this thing out?” Batman growls.
“I knew he was fishy,” says Nightwing. “Didn’t expect this though, right under our noses?”
“What? No,” Constantine says, idly wondering if that most recent bite went through the fabric and into his arm. It sure wasn’t comfortable, either way, kid had a hell of a bite force. “He’s a puppet master, supposedly.”
“Not really,” Danny spits out Constantine’s arm. No blood, somehow, and he’d been trying. Damn magic clothes. “Why would you need one, anyways?”
“Cursed object.”
“Ah,” Danny finally actually stands, not as combative as before as he slips through Constantine’s hold. “I guess I’ve got experience with those. What’s wrong with it, does it release boy bands onto the public?”
“Ah… no?” Flash says. “Kills anyone that touches it I think.”
“Oof.” Danny isn’t sure if it’d work on him, due to the Halfa thing. But he does know that curses used on his duplicates don’t effect him. Ask him how he knows. “So you wanted a puppet to do it. Aren’t they, like, a pain to get right?”
Tucker and Sam both had a bit of magic at this point, and had complained at LENGTH about it. Sam was even more miffed to find out that dolls in witchcraft were usually used for health and self care, not just hexes. Tucker was more skilled at the puppetmaster thing, but it kind of just boiled down to him using coding and magic as an artificial intelligence. And that took time.
Based on the… whatever the hell that pitch stuff running out like veins from Cursedy Cursed Thing, they did not have that time.
“That’s why I went to you, ya wank,” Constantine says. “Heard you were specializing your magic in it, and doing pretty well to boot.”
“They’re mind controlled people,” Red Robin says. “We can’t let him do that.”
“They’re not—“ Danny sighs. “You know what, I’ll show you. And then you’ll leave me alone. My business is officially, I bribed everyone appropriately.”
“That’s…” Superman frowns. “That’s not how that works?”
“It is in Gotham.” Danny stretches his hands out in front of him, a mix between asking for a hug and holding a box as far from his body as possible. His face is strained, and his brow sweats, and his hands…
They…
They droop? Fleshy goop seems to come off of his hands and forearms, faster and faster, and before anyone can even blink, there’s a flash of light and a second Danny standing there, dazed and wearing—
Was that a goddamn bathrobe?
“I got tired of losing my shirts,” Danny says to the raised eyebrows of Danny The Second’s attire. To be fair, it’d be less of a shock if it wasn’t electric pink with various yellow superhero symbols. Wonder Woman was pretty sure that she could see a bargain bin discount tag on the collar.
“Is that why your “employees” all wear shitty Halloween costumes?” Red Hood asks. “Because the maid costume bit was weird.”
“I did try to tell them not to, actually,” Danny says, walking up to the blank duplipuppet. Since it wasn’t programmed yet, it was just an empty shell, looking dazedly off in the distance. “Once their programming phase is done, though, it’s really hard to change them without doing a full reboot. In which case, it’s easier to just melt and retry.”
“They… they weren’t trafficking victims?” Red Robin says, disbelief dripping from his tone as his shoulders sagged under his cape. “They were-“
“Duplicates,” Danny says as an oversimplification.
“Really fucked up puppets,” Constantine says.
“That too,” Danny agrees. A faint green glow comes from his hands as he holds them against the duplipuppet’s temples. “I’ll ignore putting in the typical reactions and stuff—maybe a wince for pain, just to be sure that he’s not about to drop whatever it is?”
“… Does he feel pain?” Flash asks.
“No, not really, it’s like… if you program a computer to say ouch after being hit. It just knows what happens, but the human part is… detached.” That’s what Danny’s trouble usually was. Duplicates couldn’t be thought of as real, even as a part of yourself. It required a certain aspect of just not caring. Vlad was… disturbingly good at that. Kwan’s clones, back during that whole ghost bug thing, were afterimages, technically. Similar, but not the same, and much more fragile to boot. The internal justification was slightly different. Kwan never saw them as him, and Vlad never did with duplication either. Danny… he never could just not think of himself as, well. Himself.
Danny could make these empty husks all day, but to make them him, any aspect of him, even parts he normally didn’t explore? Difficult. Hence, all this.
He continued mumbling as he worked, ignoring the stares and the comments. He really needed the focus on this part, making the balance of reacting enough for them to know if something is wrong… and not reacting enough to make them think that he, the puppet, was really human.
He… wasn’t. How could he be? Danny certainly wasn’t.
Complex task management and dexterity. Listens to exact commands and instructions. All things Danny learned and struggled with, and usually couldn’t give or shortcut his way into doing very well. The complex energies required were… a lot.
There was one way to cheat it, though.
Shelf life—max, five hours.
The duplipuppet would be dead by then, Danny knew. He got these feelings sometimes, even back when he was a little kid. He really shouldn’t get at all attached to his duplicates. Just like he never got attached to his duplipuppets and other clones and just like he never memorized them all and just like he wonders if a piece of them came back to him when they die.
Danny names him. His clone, the perfect sacrifice to the greater good.
Danny didn’t mean to be so shady.
He had been working hard on his duplicates and had recently gained the ability to morph his appearance.
So he decided to challenge himself to see how long he could run a small business only using him and his clones.
The plan was to, at most, seem to have a group of quirky employees.
Unfortunately, it seems he has accidentally left more of an impression of being a shell company for less than legal reasons.
Good news is that he had did all the legal legwork properly and was not breaking the law.
Bad news was that the bats were getting suspicious and were trying to catch him in some sort of act.
Oh well, this just means that the difficulty has ramped up!

but do u rlly think flaws that make a character interesting include like...being insensitive? everyone has their own taste ig but tim's flaws dont rlly make him more interesting to me. hes just some guy plus he can be thoughtless towards others
I mean I guess it's a difference in how we read the character because while I can kinda understand where you're getting 'insensitive' and 'thoughtless towards others' from, that's not how I think about what are essentially the same traits.
Like I think Tim can be overly blunt & has chronic foot-in-mouth disease because he's not always good at reading/navigating situations (talking about this more in terms of inter-personal things, and the intersection of personal things & hero-ing. he's better with it in terms of just the hero business imo) but he typically has good intent that's made pretty clear (when we're reading from his perspective, since we get to ya know hear whats in his head).
Having good intent with your actions and doing good as a hero but conversely being pretty bad at expressing things in more day-to-day situations is absolutely a character flaw/a contrast i find interesting for a teenage superhero.
For me though the main flaws with Tim that are what I think make him interesting are like:
his mindset where he lets the weight of the world fall on his own shoulders, and acts like everything has to be his own responsibility. like even as early as YJ #7 during the camping trip his whole reasoning for why he wouldn't give up being Robin is that he needs to be doing whatever he, as an individual, can to fix the world. Like my dude my guy you are 14. This ties into his strong sense of duty which is a pretty commonly talked about Tim trait/motivation, but seeing it as a flaw is only when it goes too far.
his problems with honesty and communication because like... those are pretty common traits like, in life in general, but obviously they go to new lengths with any character with a secret identity. Tim within the Batfam was in that unique position of 'lived with a parent who for a very long time didn't know about hero stuff' so the level of having a double life not just publicly but in your own home... that fucks a kid up! and so seeing how even after that situation passed and his father was murdered, so much of that secretive tendency stuck around with him... there's so much to explore with that.
his tendency to care about people so much that it destroys him or makes him destructive. obviously caring about people isn't a bad thing LMAO but I'm talking about how he has multiple times pushed himself into darker places than are healthy because of wanting back/wanting to protect/wanting to avenge the people he loves (which also like, i think this being something so prominent with Tim how I see him is why when you said he's 'thoughtless towards others' it took me a minute to even get what u meant asgdfs) some examples being his extreme reaction to being tortured with Cassie & Kon's deaths on Apokolips, nearly killing Johnny Warlock because he hurt Steph, the Conner cloning attempts, nearly taking the Lazarus Pit water for Steph Kon & Jack during Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul, etc
his GUILT!!!! GOD the self-blame and the guilt. this is kinda related to the 'everything in the world on his shoulders' mentality but I think it exists as it's own sub category too. he takes every loss so incredibly personally in a way that, for someone who's a superhero and will have to encounter losses, is sooooo not good for him but is really fascinating to see. Like, this ties especially into the whole thing where everything has been Tim's choice. I've talked about this before, but Tim is one of the only batfam members to set down the path of becoming a hero without experiencing a major firsthand trauma in their own life/immediate family (the closest is how he witnessed Dick's parents' death but that was still not a death in his own circle of people, if tht makes sense). He made the decision to join in all of this purely because of his sense of duty and his admiration for Dick & Bruce. Which means that Tim as a person will then hold himself responsible for all the bad that happened in his life related to the Robin role down the line, because nothing external pushed him into this life aside from his own want to help Batman.
Okay yeah I probably answered this with FAR MORE THINGS TO SAY than you had in mind, but I just think he's a neat little guy, because also even despite all that darker stuff I just talked about he also manages to be a cute dork with a lot of friends who's fun to read about.

HOW TO FIX AQUAMAN.
Abridged:
Care about the sea, its people and creatures and moods and true colours
Care about Tom’s Pacific Island heritage
Let Atlanna be more than a cariacature of A Mom
Honour her trauma, and Mera’s desperation; worldbuild Atlantis better
Keep all that deep charm and joy that somehow still was there.
LET THE SEA BE IN LOVE
I’m hinging this all off that key line, which I don’t remember the exact wording of, of Arthur saying he’d been taught to hide his feelings and deal with his problems by hitting them.
And that doesn’t make sense in the film as we’re given it – his dad’s clearly an emotionally intelligent, sensitive man, Willem Dafoe is never shown shutting Arthur down that way and in fact is shown nurturing his joy, they don’t show enough of his interactions with the general culture of toxic masculinity to blame that… But it could make sense. Have him be just a bit older when Atlanna leaves, and then make it be her.
So you’ve got this struggling, grieving father being like ‘hey kid, it’s okay to be sad,’ and Arthur staring at his scruffy shoes like, ‘mommy told me I had to be strong,’ and Dad’s gotta figure out how to say ‘mommy was wrong,’ to a lost, grieving kid.
Like overall, really scale it down. Pay the effects people more to do less. Focus on the central drama, and care about the sea.
Atlanna leaving put a void between Arthur and Tom (dad, but the writing was so bad I had to look it up), but they can connect on the shore, through birds and fish and seaweed. Tom is approached by Willem Dafoe saying ‘I want to teach Arthur’ and rebukes him the first time bc he’s afraid Dafoe will hammer more ice into him. He only allows it when he sees Dafoe will nurture his joy. Arthur is a child of both worlds and he needs both, and he comes alive with it.
DON’T open with the parents’ drama, though. Open with the sea. I don’t know what that means and I don’t see the point in wasting creative energy on figuring it out, but the sea is at the heart. OH maybe it means open with ‘Arthur Stops A Bad Thing’ only the bad thing is an operation that is simultaneously polluting the waters and abusing its workers. Manta – doesn’t he have a fucking NAME???! – is mostly in charge there and he and his dad have worked their ASSES off to not be members of the toiling class they rule, they’re scared of falling, they’re insecure. Let there be actual real-world race politics, my god. (Let Tom being a Pacific Islander be explicitly talked about! Arthur is biracial in both human and fantasy terms, let that. fucking. matter.)
(ON THAT NOTE remove the fantasy border patrol, my god, please, fucking hell. I KNOW a big theme is the boundaries of the two worlds, but a superhero film is never going to go far enough criticising the real human atrocity of borders. Just don’t. If you have to, uh, enforce that boundary, put some fucking thought into how that works rather than lazily cloning actual atrocities.)
So anyway. You’ve got tons of time to nail emotional beats, we’re cutting out most of the fights, I don’t remember them, they weren’t necessary. You’ve got time to hold Jesse up against Tom and Atlanna as a parent, to show him working and pushing and caring for his son in a fucked system; to show the fears of the parents reflected in the viciousness of the children, to have the encounter be a goddamn tragedy. When Arthur says whatever the line is, ‘ask the sea for mercy’ – he’s trying to live up to what he thought his mother was, to what her fears told him he needed to be.
Anyway back to how you’re interacting with the sea; don’t just use its creatures as set dressing. Don’t use their slaughters as a villainous gotcha that will never come up again. Have Arthur not be able to tell Orm at first, but in his heart know: not all humans. The seas are being killed by like a few people and corporations and they have addresses. Most people are just poor fuckers being fucked. He can’t say it (remember what Atlanna told him! Be the ice, be the bitter water!) but we can flash back to Tom telling him about his own people and their relationship with the sea.
Keep the sea creatures in their habitats, care about their habitats. Have Arthur’s communing be a lost art that the Atlanteans have buried to do their tech shit or something. Hell, maybe they’re polluting too. Maybe they’re hypocrites. If they’re imperialists, they should be.
Like, commit to the Atlantean stiff upper lip, to the cruelty and unnaturalness of a people cutting themselves off from their place in the world; blame human empires if you want, that’s valid, but like ‘I will conquer them all’ comes from a place of deep brokenness. Actually show what Atlantis is. Let Mera’s desperation matter.
I don’t know how to express how the sea should be conveyed – certainly not in so many technicolour lights, let it be in its own colours and eerie shades – but it should be a character. Fuck the trident, the trident doesn’t matter, it’s a symbol. The trident is forged of seawater. The sea has its moods, its feelings, its own thoughts on who the King is. The sea loves Arthur. The sea wants him in every way it can have him. OT3 Arthur/Mera/The Sea. I’m absolutely fucking serious about this. His communing can be a thing the sea is giving him, and he doesn’t even know it.
Anyway they’re all gonna have to grapple with Atlanna being cold and bitter like the winter sea in the end, but she’s had like twenty years to think and regret, and she never was what he thought she was either; she was a woman who could love and be loved by Tom. So she tries. And she’s awkward and uncertain and she falls back into bad habits, but she’s got that perspective and it helps Arthur realise that he’s twisted HIMSELF up into knots.
Honestly, honour her Atlantean trauma, and Mera’s.
There’s no big gribbly monster. There’s just the sea, and the scorn in the long-dead King’s voice, and the sea’s… mercy, I guess.

I like MCU Spider-Man, but I agree with nearly all of your critiques. The 3rd film will have the same director and writers, so I don't expect the problems to be fixed, but I'm curious: do you think MCU Spider-Man is salvageable? If you could be completely in charge, how would you write the story and fix the problems?
Yeah, I don’t really expect the problems to be fixed in the third film, no matter how many times they promise it’s going to be something “different.” If I’m honest, besides the incredibly weak scripts, I think a big part of the problem is that Jon Watts is a bad director for a Spider-Man project. Which, to be fair, I think is actually why he was hired – he’s got a pretty short list of credits under his name. I mean, “Cop Car”? “Clown”? Nothing about his repertoire suggests he was going to give the studio the kind of artistic pushback they have a history of receiving from their more experienced directors. He’s basically the director version of Jell-O – easy to mold and bland to boot. The perfect guy to direct a car commercial I mean mainstream superhero film.
This is actually part of the reason I’m disappointed that the Sony-Marvel rights deal ended up sticking after all. I think that if the film rights had reverted entirely back to Sony, there might have been some damage control. We know that they intended to keep Tom Holland, if not the whole cast, for at least one more movie even if the rights had reverted entirely back to Sony so I don’t really get what the raising of arms was about. The rights reversion would’ve cut the apron strings with the rest of the MCU which would have been good, forcing both this Spider-Man to stand on his own two feet within his own narrative and also forcing the movie to focus solely on Spider-Man and on his cast. Sony’s recent Spider-Man films as of the time of writing this (I no idea what the hell they’re gonna do with Morbius and I don’t really care) have dealt with some element of “corporations are evil” – Oscorp pulling the strings in TASM/2 and Venom’s whole entire deal – and I would really like to see this version of Spider-Man be thrust into a plot where that’s the reality and that’s something he has to deal with and where he’s actually forced to defend normal people not just against a costumed villain with a grudge but against an entire system that is set up to exploit and abuse the vulnerable. I think that would have gone a long way towards if not fixing the damage inflicted upon the narrative, then at least course correcting it for the future. But that’s not happening now so whatever.
I find it kind of hard to think of what I would do if I was handed complete control of MCU Spider-Man with the caveat that I had to go forward using the two previous films as my background just because I dislike so many of the choices they made so much. On the other hand, I do like money and inflicting my own opinions on a captive audience, so. I think I would want to scale back the stakes a lot – keep Peter in New York for the entirety of the movie’s plot and film mostly there if at all possible. I would want to cute the ties to all Iron Man cast members so sorry, Jon Favreau, but you’re out, while at the same time redirecting the film’s focus into something more oriented in Peter’s civilian community. Bringing in a character like Leo Zelinsky, a Holocaust survivor who works as a tailor specializing in super-clients, would be a really good way to give Peter and the audience a personal connection to Peter’s Queens community while also tying this Peter back to the Jewish subtext of Spider-Man, and it could work in a plot where cut the Iron Man cast – this Peter isn’t an experienced craftsman when it comes to creating his own costume, so bringing in Leo Zelinsky would make sense, and a costume created by the both of them could be quite meaningful if it was played out well.
I would definitely want to give May Parker much more screentime and rework her relationship from the “big sister” role (the writers’ words, not mine) to that of Peter’s mother, someone who realistically worries about the dangers of Spider-Man but also provides a strong moral backbone for him. I’d want to establish the exact circumstances of Ben’s death – I don’t know exactly what I’d do, but given this Peter’s development has failed to track with most other Peters I would definitely want to switch Ben’s death up somehow to kind of shed some light on that. Peter and May would have to talk about him. I would definitely want to bring Peter’s classic college friends group closer together, starting with Peter and Flash since I really like Tony Revolori as an actor. I find this MJ to be an incredibly inscrutable character, and not in a good way, so I’d want to shed some better light on her, her family circumstances, and what makes her tick. I’d bring Liz back and give her some of her comic counterpart’s fire (perhaps literally, given Ultimate Liz’s Firestar status) and also I’d get Betty’s actress a brunette bob stat. There would definitely be a bigger focus on women and on Peter navigating complicated friendships with women, not just letting him have a romantic interest and that’s the end of that. I’m very conflicted on what to do with Ned Leeds because I think Jacob Batalon has some of the best screen presence of that cast, but I find it hard to get past the “Ganke Lee with a minor Peter antagonist’s name pasted on him” aspect of the character. Honestly? I might rework Ned’s role to go full villain, skipping directly to the Hobgoblin with the shadow of the Green Goblin and the Kingpin behind him. That would solve my problem of wanting to give Batalon massive amounts of screen time and a big role but absolutely detesting the reworking of Ned Leed’s into the best friend sidekick position. I would say I’d want Ned to then have a romantic subplot with a young Richard Fisk, who would be here for some reason (it’s not like it’s the worst continuity crime the MCU would have ever committed) but I don’t want yet another Disney’s first ever gay character spotlight moment to be given to the villains, so. It would take some finangling. Maybe I would reinvent Aunt May’s one time fiance Nathan Lubensky as a woman so we’d have some nice balance.
And we defend not one single bank within the movie.
Alternatively, I go mad with the power and reveal that this entire cast is made up of clones created by the Jackal, thus explaining all the Ben Reilly-inspired costumes, and subject everyone to my five movie Clone Saga adaptation dreams.
What I would really want to do given full creative control and being told I could wipe the slate clean and restart Spider-Man within the MCU, no questions asked, would be to have Peter as a retired superhero who was active underground years and years before Iron Man or the Avengers were ever on the scene, and have his daughter Mayday be the young teenage Spider-Man of the MCU, someone fresh and new who carries her father’s legacy while living in a world saturated by the Avengers legacy.
Or I’d just kill Peter and bring in a great team to do a Miles movie. I maybe think about this theoretical where I can get my claws into things a lot.

Short Reviews, when the Big Mouth doesn’t have much to say… Or is trying to get caught up from COVID / Election Overload
Tumblr media
An Occasional Attempt to Read, Discuss and Review the Wonders of Comics
By: John Rafferty, cranky old man, and Fan of All Things Comics
Short Takes
Short Reviews, when the Big Mouth doesn’t have much to say… Or is trying to get caught up from COVID / Election Overload
Legion of Super Heroes 6-10  (DC Comics)
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis    Pencils: Ryan Sook (#6 - 7, 10) Various (8 - 9)   Inker: Wade Von Grawbadger (#6 - 7, 10) Various (8 - 9)
‘You want to be called Bouncing Boy?
Looking at the Memexes, we were considering “The Bullet”.
Bullet?
It’s a projectile that——
No, with me, it’s all about the BOUNCE.
———————————————————————————————————
Can Brian Bendis write everything?
Between story, and downright FUN, this is a great book.  Team books are hard to do well, if for no other reason, because of the characterizations.
Multiple characters mean multiple personalities, and some of those will always get underdeveloped in relationship to the team, as the writer invariably has favorites  Unless…
What we are seeing with LSH is development of characters from across the spectrum. Every book has development of some of the characters, even if they’re not directly involved in the story. This is a far cry from what you see in other books.
Add to this Ryan Sook’s breakdowns, and Wade von Grawbadger’s inks, and you get a pretty package, all tied up in a big bow. More importantly, this is a story with a legacy reaching back 60 years, and is being truly refreshed for a new audience.
This isn’t the Legion I read in 1967, but it’s damned good!

Suicide Squad #9 - 10  (DC Comics)
Writer: Tom Taylor  Artist: Bruno Redondo
I have Kord’s location.
Okay. Do you also have the Senator?
Oh, did you want him back for some reason? That spineless mouth-breather championed a law to dump more waste into the sea. Delusional, greedy @#$% thinks he owns the world.
I have some friends reminding him he does not.

Floyd Lawton, first appearance, Batman #59, June 1950, as the man who never misses.
Floyd Lawton, a man who feels no rereason to continue living, but has no wish to die: who puts his life on the line to save his teammates time and time again, to save his daughter and her mother, all with the wish of dying in a truly spectacular fashion.
Floyd Lawton, who finally finds a reason to live, in the eyes of his daughter, Zoe.
Floyd Lawton. Deadshot. Perennial member of Task Force X, finally earned his pardon.
Game Over.
By all that’s Unholy, Tom Taylor is a hateful SOB! But the man writes a great story!

Marvel Zombies Resurrection # 1 - 4  (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Phillip Kennedy Johnson   Artist: Leonard Kirk
‘Fine. I guess we came all this way.
Might as well do something really stupid.
———————————————————————————————————
This sums up exploring the World, any world, during a Zombie Apocalypse. Especially when those with Super Powers have been turned into Super Zombies.
So, we pick up with Peter Parker, Forge, Karla Sofen (Moonstone), Valeria and Franklin Richards, a Flerkin named Chewie, and the reprogrammed Sentinel lovingly called ‘Nana’, moving from defendable place to defensible area, seeking a ‘safe place’. Somewhere they can rest for more than one night… if that is possible.
Always realizing the next tree could be hiding a zombified Avenger, or Defender, or Loved one…
Johnson’s Miniseries is another version of the Marvel Zombiepocalypse, which begs the question, what happens when Zombie Galactus infects your world? Or, more importantly, when it CARRIES the infection to your world?
Leonard Kirk’s art style is perfect for this story, a very dark, visceral style which is a little hard on the eyes, making the reader work for every panel. Yes, it hurts to read, but IT SHOULD! It’s Zombies!
This is worth the read if you can get all 4 issues (the first issue came out in July).

Rorschach #1  (DC Black Label)
Writer: Tom King   Artist: Jorge Fornes
‘They won’t talk to me. Treating me like I’m a  damn Kindergarten kid. I got twins in Kindergarten. Duane and Dwight. I’m not a Kindergarten kid.
Jesus Christ. What’d they say to you?
That you’re dying.
Shit.

In 1985, Walter Kovacs died.
It went unnoticed, but for the few in attendance, for Kovacs died following the Alien Invasion of New York, which, in effect saved the world.
Yet, unnoticed, but for the few, Walter Kovacs became a red splash on the Antarctic permafrost.
And Rorschach, the Crime Hunter, died with him.
Or. did he?
In a world existing somewhere between Watchmen 1985 and Current Multiverses, Tom King and begun a noir-ish tale… Did Rorschsch come back, to foil an assassination attempt, and die in the process?
Did he come back, and fail at an attempt at assassination?
Or, Gentle Readers, is there a whole slew of balls in the air we just haven’t seen yet, that we are going to be expected to juggle deftly, as they drop just into sight?
I can’t wait for the answer!

Justice League #54 - 57  (Death Metal Tie-In) (DC Comics)
Writer: Joshua Williamson    Artists: Xermanico (54, 57), Pencils: Robson Rocha (55 - 56), Inks: Daniel Henriquez (55 - 56)
“Don’t you get it Cyborg? We’re not the Justice League!
We’re the Suicide Squad!
———————————————————————————————————
I have said before I am not a fan of Joshua Williamson’s writing.
Maybe I just don’t like him on the Flash.
Four issues, each of them a very good story, each building, with some action and humor, to a smash mouth endpoint, that brings us to Death Metal #5.
I have to say, I’m enjoying this run of Justice League, even with the switch of artist teams mid - tale Xermanico’s work os beautiful, right into the valley of the Starros (that gave me giggle fits!) Rocha and Henriquez’s work is very pretty, and a little darker than Xermanico’s, giving a more atmospheric touch to the Antenna of LOD.
I have to admit, they do a mean Kori, as well! Really FIERCE, with a Full Length mohawk!
Well worth the cost of admission, and a strong addition to the Metal storyline.

Nightwing #75 - 76 (DC Comics)
Writer: Dan Jurgens   Artists: Travis Moore and Ronan Cliquet (75), Ronan Cliquet (76)
‘We have to talk.’
———————————————————————————————————
Four words.
Four words that have ended more relationships than violence.
Dan Jurgens has done a masterful job of tying up the Ric Grayson / Amnesias storyline that seems to have run for nigh on ever… by bringing it full circle to Anatoli Knyazev, the KGBeast.
The artwork in these two issues was pretty, with obvious switches between that of Travis Moore (the Titans / Batgirl pages) and Ronan Cliquet’s Batman / KGBeast pages.
Nicely tied up, completing multiple storylines in two issues. Ready to move forward/

Young Justice  #19 - 20 (DC Comics)
Writers: Brian Michael Bendis and David  Walker   Artist: Scott Godlewski
Red Tomato?
I think he said Tornado, and you know it.
Honestly, he talks so fast, I can’t understand him most of the time.
———————————————————————————————————
Damian Wayne, Robin.  Cassie Sandmark, Wonder Girl. Bart Allen, Impulse. Conner Kent, Superboy. Stephanie Brown, Spoiler. Keli Quintela, Teen Lantern. Zan and Jayna. the Wonder Twins. Jinny Hex, Naomi, Amethyst,
Twenty issues in, and the book is cancelled… or is planned to end. Either way, this is a suck way to do things, DC.
This is a great group of characters. Much better than the roster in the Young Justice cartoon, simply for the diversity. Some heroes just coming into their own, some who have existed for years,  (the Wonder Twins have been around in MULTIPLE iterations since the 1970’s), all helping each other… This was a great jumping in book for pre-teens who weren’t up for all the violence / hyperkinetic action / storytelling of a true adult book.
And, it was FUN!
Bendis, Walker and Godlewski produced a fantastic product every month.
One which is ending too soon. Unless, of course, it is going to come back in a new package…
Hint, hint, hint…

Amazing Spider-Man 50 - 53  ‘Last Remains’  (Marvel Comics (duh!))
Writer: Nick Spencer   Artist: Patrick Gleason
‘You’re going to love it, Pete. There’s no better feeling in this life — Than being surrounded by those you love.
———————————————————————————————————
So, what are the rules around DEAD Characters returning?
Do they have to be relevant after so many years? Shouldn’t they be, well, driven to do something? Not take more than 50 issues to finally get around to saying…”Bazinga!’, or it’s equivalent?
I must admit, issue 50 is the first issue of a Spider-Man book I picked up, and started to enjoy, until I realized I needed to pick up the LR issues also in order to get the whole story. Didn’t’t we get enough of this in the Shooter Years?
What about a year and a half ago, when Marvel vowed they would never pull this crap again??
I guess they forgot… (Insert comparison to jackass in office here).
Too much work, don’t really care.
Especially when the reveal of who Kindred is happens in issue 50, and Peter finds out in #53… Puh-Leez!
At least it’s not Professor Warren and his Gwen Stacy clone. **BRRRRR** Freakin’ Creepy Old Perv!

Batman 101 - 102 (DC Comics (bigger DUH!))
Writer: James Tynion IV   Artist: Guillen March (101)  Pencils: Carlo Pagulayan   Inks: Danny Miki   Artist: Carlos D’Anda (Pages 13 - 16)
‘DOUBLE RENT! And you don’t talk to the other tenants! They are good people.
Little Santa Prisca is a community. We live through BANE. We live through JOKER. Don’t blow it up with all your nonsense!
You got it Charlie, No Nonsense. Not Here.
Hey! What’s your policy on Hyenas?
———————————————————————————————————
So, Lucius Fox is one of the richest men in the world.
Selina Kyle has put the Bat on a One Year Clock to get his stuff together, or she walks.
Clownkiller might be the Bernard Goetz of Superhero Vigilantism (look up the reference, I can’t do everything!), but he goes about proving you can’t keep a good vigilante killer down if he has Google.
Ghost Maker is more than we thought, and knows who Bruce Wayne keeps in the closet (or cave).
Is there anyone in Gotham who doesn’t know who Bruce Wayne is?
Tynion continues to pump out some great product, the stories and characters do not disappoint. Including Grifter as Fox’s ‘bodyguard’ was a nice touch, having him get the drop on Batman, a nicer one.
The art in both books, while vastly different, is simply gorgeous. I want to see more od the team of Pagulayan and Miki, I’m hoping to see their work grow with the storylines.
Next issue, BATTLE Sequences! Should be fun, not that it hasn’t been so far.

Shang Chi  #1 - 2 (Marvel Comics)
‘I have to save my Little Sister!
I have to kill my Big Brother!’
———————————————————————————————————
Only meetings should have agendas.
-Me, just now
Once upon a time, Sax Rohmer wrote stories about the machinations of one Fu Manchu, and his oft overturned attempts to take over the world.
In 1973, Steve Engelhart and Jim Starlin brought Shang Chi, son of Fu Manchu into the Marvel Universe, where he and his MI-6 partners Clive Reston and Black Jack Tarr were responsible for being the monkey wrenches in the machinery of Fu Manchu’s Plans.
It seems that Shang Chi is back, without his prior father. He is still proficient in all forms of martial arts, but now, he is ‘Champion of House of the Deadly Hand’ (like that name isn’t going to come to but him in the butt like a Karmic werewolf), and since the passing of his ‘Father”, now the Commander of the Five Weapons Society.
The artwork is pretty, and the story, steeped in Asian Mysticism, is a little draggy so far. Is the story good? Yeah, it’s a nice reminder of a character I exjyed a long tome ago.
Will it get better? Time will tell.

The Rise of Ultraman #1 - 3 (Marvel Comics, by way of Tsuburaya Productions)
Writers: Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom    Artist: Francesco Manna
Oh. You’re here to fight because you think we’re one of the species that can’t evolve.
No. I know you cannot evolve.
Fifty-Four of your years ago, my brother came to assist you. And you killed him.
———————————————————————————————————
In the late 60’s, on certain New York television stations, the Saturday Afternoon hours were filled with Japanese imports, Kaiju - United Science Patrol, and of course the story of the death of Moroboshi, and the coming of Ultraman.
Ultraman, a human - alien symbiosis, who fought the Kaiju menace coming to take over the Earth.
Forward to 2020, a new Ultraman, with a new team of USP helpers / friends, and what looks at this point to be a corrupt system surrounding them.
This creative team has done a marvelous job with the material thus far, reviving this character for a modern reader.
It’s just a shame it’s only 5 issues…
It is definitely worth the read.

American Vampire 1976 #1 - 2 (DC Comics)
Writer: Scott Snyder   Artist: Artist: Rafael Albuquerque
‘DAMMIT! Before what happened with Gus, you were the best vampire tracker and killer around. I’m asking you to help me take down whoever this PEELING MAN is.
But if this shitty music and LASERS is your life now, then just say so, and I’ll leave you to it.
It’s not a laser, you goddamned idiot.
It’s a SOLAR LAMP. **klik**
———————————————————————————————————
Ten years ago, Scott Snyder, Rafael Albuquerque and Stephen King started a journey which has spanned 10 Years in real time, but 200 years, and 12 separate cycles in series time.
The current iteration has our favorite group of vamps and exterminators running around 1976, wrecking discos, trains, and graveyards, all in the name of bringing back Stoker’s primary villain.
Snyder proves again he is up to the task of creating a world of whimsy and horror, providing mayhem, madness, and the occasional snorting giggle. His droll wit, and ability to write a phenomenal action piece makes this cycle of the American Vampire story a must read.

💙 Hate is a Strong Word by kikikryslee (8k)
“I’m fine,” Harry said. “Just, that guy over there. I kind of can’t stand him.” “Which one?” Perrie asked. “The one in the blue shirt, with the striped tie. His name’s Louis Tomlinson, and he’s the new regional manager.” “He doesn’t seem so bad. Why do you hate him so much?” “Hate is a strong word,” Harry answered. “But I really, really, really don’t like him.” — Or, the one where Perrie has a crush on Louis and Harry wants nothing to do with him. The fact that Louis stole Harry’s job has absolutely nothing to do with it.
💙 I’d Still Dance With You by kikikryslee (56k)
“Liam, if you met someone that you really liked, would age matter?” Louis asked. “I suppose so; to a point, anyway.” “Like, how young would you go?” Liam thought it over. “Uh… I don’t know. Like, 24?” Louis groaned and dropped his head in his hands. “Why? How old is this guy you like?” “Twenty-one,” Louis muttered. “Hang on. He’s 21, and you’re… what? Twenty-eight?” “Yeah.” “Wow. Um… well, OK. That’s a, uh, that’s a gap.” — Or, the 21/28 age difference fic where Harry is younger than Louis thought he was, and even though Louis’ head is telling him not to pursue anything, his heart doesn’t seem to agree.
💙 Members Only by kikikryslee (14k)
“Well, I’m gonna go work out now, so…” Harry said, his voice trailing off. Louis nodded. “Yeah, yeah, go ahead. Go get, uh, you know, strong and buff.” What? Louis wanted to die. “Um, thanks?” Harry said. “Um…” Without another word, Harry walked away from the desk. Louis pinched his thigh – hard – hoping that was some terrible, awkward nightmare that he might soon wake up from. — Or, the one where Louis works at Harry’s new gym and neither one of them knows how to hold a coherent conversation with the other.
💙 Got It Backwards by kikikryslee (45k)
Harry said the baby’s name again. “It’s perfect.” “Just like its daddy,” Louis told him. He placed a hand on top of his stomach and rubbed small circles into it. “Just like its papa,” Harry replied. “There you go again, being all cheesy.” “You started it.” “Yeah, I guess I did this time.” Harry leaned in to kiss Louis softly on the lips. As Louis kissed him back, all he could think about was how lucky he was. He had a loving boyfriend, a baby on the way and a house that he could have only ever dreamed about. At this point in his life, just a year and a half ago, everything he had was all just that – a dream. — Or, the one where Louis and Harry are having a baby and Louis is afraid that he isn’t ready, until he remembers how he and Harry first fell in love.
💙 It’s Hard to Say It, Time to Say It by kikikryslee (10k)
Harry sighed. “We have a lot of clothes in stock, sir-” “Please don’t call me ‘sir,’” the guy said. “I’m only twenty-six.” “OK, then. We have a lot of clothes in stock, dude, so finding something else in your size won’t be a problem if it means you’ll buy something. What are you? Like, an extra small?” The guy actually had the nerve to look offended. Harry resisted laughing. “Hey! I’ll have you know that I’m a medium!” “In what?” Harry asked, looking the guy over. “Children’s?” — Or, the one where Louis is an annoying customer who won’t leave Harry’s shop on time, and Harry is counting down the seconds until Louis leaves. Until a chance encounter at a concert, and suddenly, Harry really doesn’t want Louis to leave.
💙 Shut Up and Wink at Me by kikikryslee (14k)
“Did you get your housing information yet?” Louis asked. Harry pursed his lips. “Yeah. So?” “So? So it looks like we’re going to be roommates. Don’t you think we should know each other a little bit?” “We’ve gone to the same schools since Kindergarten. I already know you.” “Yeah, but we’re not like, friends,” Louis said. “Ouch.” Harry pretended to be hurt, holding a hand over his heart. “That stings, Louis.” Louis rolled his eyes. “Look, I would like to know at least something about you before I live with you for an entire school year.” “What do you suggest?” “I don’t know,” Louis said. “I guess just like, hang out and make sure we’re compatible?” “You make it sound like we’re going on a blind date.” “Trust me; we’re fucking not.” “Again, ouch.” — Or, the one where Louis wants to go away to college to get away from everything having to do with his hometown. So when he finds out his roommate will be Harry Styles, perfect school athlete and the exact opposite of what Louis wants in a roommate, he’s not happy about it.
💙 What’s Stopping You? by kikikryslee (14k)
That shirt was what held his attention again. How many other guys had the same shirt that H and Harry had, and – wait. H… Harry. Harry did yoga. So did H. They both had the same shirt, and had both gotten home ten minutes ago and were cooking dinner. No way. Louis looked at the picture again, and stared more closely at H’s lips. They were pink and pouty, with the lower lip a bit plumper than the top, just like Harry. And H had brown, curly hair that reached his shoulders, just like Harry. Louis looked over at Harry, who was putting his hair back up into a bun as the kitchen was most likely getting warmer. “Holy shit,” Louis whispered. Have I been flirting with my own roommate all this time? — Or, the one where Harry wants to get over his crush on Louis, so he makes a Grindr account to find someone new. Of course, Louis messages him, not realizing H’s real identity. It only takes a few days for them to figure it out.
💙 Runner on Third by kikikryslee (39k)
As Harry stood there, the other man turned around, and he knew he was correct in who he thought it was. “Louis?” he asked, still not quite believing it. Louis blinked. “Harry? Wh– what are you doing here?” “I work here,” Harry said. “What are you doing here?” “Um, I’m picking up my brother. The nurse called and said he was sick.” Harry felt like he was going to be sick. “Wait, Ernest is your brother? Since when do you have a brother?” “Since about seven years ago, I guess. Wait, how do you know Ernest?” “I’m his teacher.” “You’re his what?” Louis exclaimed. Harry gulped. This was going to be a long year. — Or, the AU where Louis and Harry were best friends growing up, but lost touch after Harry moved away. Ten years later, Harry has moved back to town, but he and Louis don’t pick up where they left off.
💙 Bye Bye’s Are Not For Legends (I’m Forever Young) by kikikryslee (51k)
A Superhero AU where Louis, Liam and Niall are immortal and have superpowers - Liam can clone himself, Niall can inflict pain at the drop of a hat and Louis can kill with the blink of an eye - and want fellow immortal Harry, who puts a twist on the term ‘mind control,’ to join their group in order to save the world. — “You know how you told my dad like a decade or two ago that you three felt like you were missing something?” Sophia asked. “Yeah, I remember,” Louis answered. “Well, I have somebody for you, if you’re interested. His name’s Harry Styles, and he does this thing where he stares really deeply into people’s eyes, and suddenly, they’re walking away from him, like some sort of-“ “Mind control,” Louis finished. “Exactly. Could be worth checking out.” Louis looked at Liam and Niall, both of whom looked eager to meet the man. “OK,” Louis said. “Where can we find him?”
💙 Court-Ordered by kikikryslee (10k)
Louis sighed. "I don’t think I’m his type.” “You’re everyone’s type,” Niall said. “Everyone likes you.” "But we only just stopped sort of hating each other. What if I mess it all up?” “Wow. You really do like him.” “I do not.” “Yeah, you do,” Niall grinned. “You like a tree hugger. Who saw it coming?” — Or, the one where pot-smoking Louis and SeaWorld protester Harry both get community service, and don’t get along at all. Until they do.

Game Idea: Spider-Man_Goblin Empire
Introduction
Spider-Man’s the best. He has the most fully realized character and franchise of any superhero in terms of supporting cast (civilian and heroes), villains, and recurring themes that still manage to feel relevant. As a result of the work put into his franchise, Spider-Man has developed a number of heroes who have not seen enough of the spotlight, despite being awesome enough to first appear in his book. I was thinking about the sheer scope of all of the heroes and villains within the Spider-Man franchise, and it occurred to me that there is a game that should be made that could show off the sheer size of it all and be fun as hell. Basically, a squad-based 3rd person combat game; or shorthand- Overwatch with Spider-Man but more story-driven. I call it- Spider-Man: Goblin Empire.
Story and Gameplay
Taking a cue from Dan Slott and Insomniac Games, the story sees a veteran Spider-Man, four or five years into his superhero career, having to organize and lead the heroes of NYC to help the police fight the Goblin Empire and their allies, the Sinister Six. In a swift and impressive display of power and organization, The Goblin King Norman Osborn has managed to block off and gain control of NYC in a single night. He has ambassadors, industry leaders, and celebrities as hostages to leverage against the world as they grapple whether to recognize the hostile takeover of NYC and the sovereignty of his newly proclaimed empire. His Goblin Commanders are going to precincts to ensure that the instill martial law until the Goblin King lays out all of the new laws; many are complying operating under the assumption that compliance is less risky and thus harmful to the citizens than resistance to this overwhelming new power. But others are not, and the resistance is led by Deputy Chief Yuri Watanbe with the support of Spider-Man and the heroes gathered with him. Spider-Man and allies must work to secure the future of NYC from Osborn and Octavius as well as keeping citizens safe from other threats within the city such as the combined forces of Kingpin and Hammerhead, Mister Negative and his Inner Demons, and the ‘neutral’ but greedy Alchemax.
The game will have a more cartoonish over realist visuals and would have single player, co-op, and multiplayer campaign modes as well as different PvP style matches. Players in campaign mode would play through different missions that would move the story forward, but against an internal clock. In single player campaign, you can build a team of up to 3 support NPCs for missions. The goal is to complete certain missions by a certain times within the game or the Goblin Nation becomes official, which represents ultimate failure. There is no particular order in which the missions must be completed, but the series of missions completed will affect the ‘Hope meter’ or measurement of confidence in the rebel forces by the world community as the delay or accept the power of the Goblin Nation. Certain series of missions will create greater hope than others, so the goal is to try to keep the ‘Hope meter’ up as much as possible in order to gain enough time to defeat Osborn.
In the comics or a show, this story might play out with the Goblin Nation being recognized to drive up tension, but within the game this will mean a hard reset of progress. Why? One, because of the challenge of figuring out what order of missions will keep Norman from being recognized as a legit King and the urgency it creates. And two, because Norman wouldn’t negotiate a deal that doesn’t grant him help against ‘rebels’ from other nations, ie America and Canada. ‘Help’ being code for later Avengers and Alpha Flight updates/expansions.
The campaign would not be all that there is to the game. Players could have team deathmatches, king of the hill, escort missions, capture the flag, or control style matches. The maps would be based on the five boroughs of this fictional NYC with each borough having 5-7 maps of varying sizes for different size of teams. All characters, no matter their faction, would be available for play in non-campaign mode. And obviously upgradeable gear and appearances will be available.
Villains would only be playable after the completion of regular campaign, and a new campaign would be available where you play as the villains to defeat the rebels. In the villain campaign, instead of a ‘Hope meter’ there would be a ‘Support Meter’ that measures how many citizens accept Osborn, Octavius, Kingpin, or Mister Negative as their new leader depending on which villain faction you choose to play the campaign as. It would still be the same basic game, but seen from the other side and with a new set of characters with new combat abilities to play with.
Factions
With the goal of showing off how big and awesome the Spider-Man franchise really is beyond the main man, I decided the golden rule for who gets to be a playable character is that they must have first appeared in a Spider-Man title. This being the first game, I decided that I wanted to go big, but there are some exceptions. That all being said, here are the following playable factions.
Rebels:
1. Spider-Man (Parker)
2. Spider-Man (Morales)
3. Araña
4. Prowler
5. Silver Sable
6. Puma
7. Cardiac
8. Jackpot
9. Ghost Spider
10. Agent Venom
11. Black Cat
12. Silk
13. Rocket Racer
14/15. Cloak and Dagger
16. Solo
17-21: The Slingers (Dusk, Prodigy, Hornet, and Ricochet)
22. Alpha
23. Rumor
The rebels are supported by NYPDR, New York City Police Department Resistance.
Kingpin’ Syndicate:
1.Hammerhead
2.The Spot
3.Molten Man
4.Shocker
5.Tinkerer
6. Hydroman
They are supported by their combined Maggia criminal battalions.
Mister Negative's Shadow Captains
1. Overdrive
2. Big wheel
3. Tarantula
3. Screwball
4. Tombstone
5. Shriek
Backing up the Shadow Captains are the Inner Demons.
Sinister Six
1. Doc Ock
2. Vulture
3. Mysterio
4. Rhino
5. Kraven
6. Sandman
Ock-bots of various size and firepower roam the city and support either Goblins or members of the Sinister Six; Sixers are first priority protection over Goblins.
Goblin Commanders
1. Hobgoblin (Leeds)
2. Menace (Hollister)
3. Dark Goblin ( Urich)
4. Goblin Knight (Harry)
Goblin foot soldiers are known as Greys, because of the tint of their skin with the modified formula they have. The Greys are not as strong or well equipped as the Commanders, but they are formidable and can easily toss over a police precinct if left unchecked.
Neutral-ish: Alchemax and Alistaire Smythe
They are supported by Alchemax security and Spider-Slayer drones. They may or may not assist the player depending upon what missions have been completed and where the ‘Hope Meter’ is at.
Assorted Notes:
I think Agent Venom needs a new look. I’m not sure what direction to go necessarily, but a new look would be good. I’m also thinking not strictly military; could be a SWAT dude beforehand. I will give further consideration to this development.
Flashback narrative sequences would be achievable after related missions to help flesh out backstory. Basically, these would be 1-4 minute stories, and hypothetically, I’d like one for each character. That would clearly take some time to work out; possibly released as updates depending upon development.
I think it would be fun to have a single player fighting game style mode as well, but I’m uncertain if that would be with launch or a new expansion.
I think a larger Symbiote and/or Clone expansion is definitely in the future. Those could be tied together narratively, or more likely, done as two different expansions. The Clone expansion could even be tied into a Spider-Island style narrative, but that’s just speculative for the moment. I’ll need to think of something more for those expansion ideas.
I do think the larger Marvel Universe exists, but I wouldn’t even mention them within the first game or within the first couple of expansions to keep with showing off the Spider-Man breadth and depth.
I’ve avoided different universe/timeline versions of characters for now, but that could be a whole sequel.
*
This is my vision as succinctly as can be put without making the actual game. Hope you enjoy the idea as much as I did.

Uhh i wrote a short fic about Gabby and Laura Kinney and being disabled and what powers mean etc. Basically, Gabby loses her healing factor but her inability to feel pain is a real condition people struggle with. The snikt sisters are awesome and there’s loads of cameos
“Gabby, are you bleeding?”
It was early morning in the Kinney apartment. Gabby’s eyes peeked open, groggy from sleep.
“What d’you mean m’bleedin…” she mumbled, slowly beginning to wake up. Laura’s face was now clear in Gabby’s vision, and so too was the concern. Gabby’s big sister didn’t get scared - she was the freaking Wolverine - so the concern traveled quickly to Gabby. Now very awake, she began to scan herself for the blood source. Not feeling pain meant sometimes not knowing about an injury right away, but handy healing powers made it more of a nuisance than a reason to be afraid.
It was her left hand. The skin around the fingernail on her ring finger had been picked off, probably in her sleep. It was bleeding just enough to have smeared onto both of her hands, but thankfully not the pillow. It wasn’t something that should have made Laura concerned.
Then it dawned on her. Gabby realized that the amount of blood was not consistent with how much should have come out before her healing factor clotted, and eventually erased, the wound. In fact, the finger was still trickling a bit of blood. Something was wrong - Gabby’s healing factor had vanished in the night.
Dr. Hank McCoy spun around on his stool to face the Kinney sisters in his lab. Reading from a printout he said, “It appears that Miss Gabby has had her X-gene turned off. It’s still present in the DNA, but the gene itself is dormant now. She’s just a normal pre-teen girl.”
Gabby protested, “But I didn’t feel it! I can’t not be a mutant any more, I still don’t feel pain! Tell him Laura, I’m still an X-Man.”
Dr. McCoy sighed, taking off his glasses. “Gabby, Laura, you must understand. Gabby’s mutation was identical to yours and Logan’s Laura. She had an advanced healing factor and some heightened senses. The inability to feel pain is a condition entirely human.
“It is a syndrome called CIPA, which stands for ‘Congenital Insensitivity to Pain with Anhidrosis’. It is very rare, but it results in the carrier being incapable of feeling pain. While that may be a superpower to a clone of Wolverines, it is actually very dangerous for humans. You see, Gabby’s healing factor was what was allowing her to lead a normal life. Superhero training gave her the strict regimen that fulfilled the non-violent aspects of the condition.”
Laura interrupted, “What does that mean? Gabby just needs to be extra careful about fights now, like a regular person, right?”
“Unfortunately,” Hank continued, “it’s not so simple. People with CIPA don’t just not feel the pain of a stubbed toe or a broken wrist. They also don’t feel hunger pangs or the urge to use the bathroom. This can cause severe malnutrition and dehydration as well as embarrassing accidents. Not to mention their difficulties with temperature regulation. They can’t tell if they are too hot or too cold, so they can be more susceptible to heat stroke or hypothermia.”
Gabby had completely shut down as Hank spoke. Laura did her best to provide some comfort with a hand on her shoulder, but it seemed brooding was also a family trait. Dr. McCoy gave the sisters some materials about the condition, as well a watch with built in timers for food and bathroom breaks. And because it was X-Men tech, it could also alert Gabby if her temperature was too high or low. Laura could tell Gabby was devastated by the diagnosis. Hank had no clue why her X-gene had turned off, or if there was a way to turn it back on. While they adjusted to the news, Laura was able to convince Gabby to take a break from being Wolverine and Honey Badger. Jean understood (because of course a telepath with motherly tendencies does) and told them to take all the time they needed.
It had been a week since Gabby had lost her powers. They were adjusting to the new schedule Gabby had to keep, from the watch’s chiming reminders to regular injury checks to make sure Gabby hadn’t hurt herself without noticing. Laura was doing her best to keep things normal for her little sister, but there was nothing normal about this. Worse, Laura could tell Gabby could see the worry on her face. She’d gone from coolest big sister ever to worrying mother hen in a week! Something had to be done. Laura may have been keeping her sister safe from physical danger, but Gabby’s hurt was on the inside, and she had never seen the girl so down. Claiming it was an emergency mission, Laura left the apartment to hatch a plan to cheer Gabby up.
All of the X-Men were sad to hear the news about Gabby. She was a ray of sunshine with claws. So when Laura came to the mansion with a mission to brighten her spirits, everyone was all in. Kurt suggested that Jean could do a telepathic version of a Danger Room session with Gabby, so she could still have a thrill without risk of getting hurt. Laura thought that might just make her even worse when the session ended.
Remy thought that a planned heist would lift anyone’s spirits, and he would have convinced Laura if the responsible adults (aka everyone but Remy and Jubilee) hadn’t stepped in to remind them that robbery was still definitely a crime. Forge suggested she take up a hobby like Lego or robotics (and even offered to teach her some basics). Storm offered to take Gabby flying. At one point, Rogue thought she might be able to temporarily give Gabby her powers by taking Laura’s and giving them to Gabby, but that felt cruel. Eventually, Laura had to leave to get back to Gabby, and she was still 0 for 10 on ideas to cheer up her little sister.
--
Stopping in a bakery in Hell’s Kitchen, Laura heard some crashes in an alleyway across the street. Dropping off her fresh pastries and her civilian clothes, Laura dashed to the source of the noise. A mugger had a young woman pinned to a wall. With a snikt, Wolverine let her presence known. But before the mugger could even look at her, an arrow smacked him in the head, knocking him to the ground. The woman ran away, grateful for once for New York’s endless supply of masked heroes.
Hopping down from his fire escape perch, the mystery hero revealed himself. “Woah! Wolverine? You handle muggers now? I mean I know Hell’s Kitchen already has Daredevil for the big name villains, but I figured the little guys were still fair game…” Hawkeye, aka Clint Barton, rambled as he retrieved his arrow from the mugger’s unconscious noggin.
Laura took off her mask, “I’m not a regular here. I was buying pastries for my little sister. Heard the noise from the scuffle. Sorry to uh, cramp your style, or whatever.”
Clint laughed, “Haha, wow! Wolverine shops at Daredevil’s Food Cake? And also doesn’t know how to use slang despite being a young person.”
“I was raised in a murder lab,” she replied with a roll of her eyes, “And the pastries are for my sister. They’re her favorite and I’ve got to cheer her up somehow.”
Clint recognized the concern in Laura’s voice and stopped his chuckling. Emotions weren’t exactly his strong suit, but he was always ok at least at being a friend. So he asked, “Why’s she need cheering up? Isn’t she a tween hero? Badger or something, right? Small-verine? What can bring a kid like that down?”
“Losing her powers, for one,” Laura said. She explained the situation to Hawkeye. He was a surprisingly good listener, at least, he looked like he was being a good listener. When she finished explaining, Clint scratched his head.
“Well, life-altering disabilities can definitely have that effect. Being deaf makes it hard sometimes. I’ll know I missed something important someone said. Movies are nearly impossible to watch, and closed captions are usually pretty awful. It can feel like the world is leaving you out. Like life’s a lunch table, and you can’t sit there,” he said, not really looking at Laura, but getting lost in his own memory somewhat. “She just needs time to adjust. And maybe some people who know what she’s going through? Even rare diseases have Facebook groups now, so it would probably be pretty easy to find some people for her to talk with.”
“What about you?” Laura asked, “Could you come talk to her? I know it isn’t the same thing, but I think you could help her more than me or any of the other X-Men right now.”
Clint was shocked. Him? Being helpful in a non-arrow related situation? But then he remembered what it was like, meeting other disabled people for the first time. Seeing them as a thriving community, a table he could sit at. How could he refuse?
--
Clint’s visit was a smashing success, and not just because he managed to knock over a lamp when retelling a story about disability rights activists. Gabby had some of her usual confidence back, and she was excited to meet other people living like her. Hawkeye had even promised to get her and Laura in touch with other disabled heroes, like Daredevil, Cypher, and Bucky Barnes.
Gabby wasn’t going to be exactly the same as she was before her powers went away, but no one really stays the same forever. Together, with her sister’s help, Gabby was able to find a new place for herself, not as Honey Badger, but as Gabby Kinney. She got involved with a children’s disability rights group, and was a hero, just not the kind she’d been before.

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #176 - Logan
Tumblr media
Spoilers Below
Have I seen it before: Yes
Did I like it then: Yes.
Do I remember it: Yes.
Did I see it in theaters: Yes.
Was it a movie I saw since August 22nd, 2009: Yes. #477
Format: Blu-ray
0) This is Hugh Jackman’s final turn as the character he made iconic seventeen years ago. While there might still be a chance the character could come back (likely if it were for a Deadpool crossover or if he got to fight The Avengers) this is likely it. And embracing that allows this film to go to places no X-Men film before it could (as does its R-rating).
1) The opening scene with the carjackers establishes a lot for this film. First of all, we get a good look at just how fucking disheveled and miserable Logan is. It even shows in his imagery; the gray hairs, the tired face, all of it. It also establishes the film’s more grounded tone. This isn’t X-jets and time travel, this is war and violence. R rated and bloody violence, which is also established in the opening scene.
2) Marco Beltrami returns to compose this film after The Wolverine, and his score is quite strong. It is subtle, nuanced, moving, and embraces its Western still in a surprising and emotional way. I absolutely loved.
3) Logan IS a Western more than it is a superhero film. In a superhero film characters KNOW what they are. Superman is aware he gives people hope, Batman knows he is order in a world of chaos just as the audience does. Logan however? He’s not a symbol. He’s not a warrior. He doesn’t play into tropes. Life is a sad, abysmal, bloody mess where nothing makes sense and it’s all just HARD. A lot of the best Westerns are like this (notably Shane), so Logan is really setting itself apart from the superhero crowd by embracing this.
4) Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce.
Tumblr media
Holbrook makes the villainous Pierce wonderfully skeezy. He’s got this wonderful energy and charisma which makes the audience just love to hate him. Holbrook is an absolute delight in the part and helps elevate the film be being totally despicable.
5) Stephen Merchant as Caliban.
Tumblr media
I mentioned in my X-Men: Apocalypse recap that both that film and this one features an adaptation of the character Caliban from the comics. This was the result of just poor communication between the filmmaking teams meaning both characters ended up in both films. But they play notably different roles, with Caliban being more of a plot device in Apocalypse but an actual character with decisions and consequences in this film. I have a head canon that Apocalypse Caliban is Logan Caliban’s father. I don’t know if anything supports this but I like it.
Merchant is wonderful in the decidedly NON comedic part (considering the actor has considerable comedic talent which he has shown off in the past). He is quiet, understated, you see that there is a pain there always lurking underneath (or not so underneath) the surface. Wonderful at drumming up empathy and occasionally giving exposition without forcing it down our throat, Merchant is the hidden gem of this film and absolutely glorious.
6) The decline of Xavier’s health in this film allows Patrick Stewart to play the character notably different than before.
Tumblr media
For one thing, it is really interesting to hear Xavier dropping, “fucks,” left and right. But more than that the hope which has so defined the character for seventeen years is now largely gone. Not totally though, it’s still there. But it’s mixed in with pain and heartache, anger and confusion, bitter disappointment and self doubts. It is an absolutely heartbreaking and conflict filled role which allows Stewart to really shine in what is also HIS final turn as the beloved Professor X.
7) This line is very telling not only of Charles’ state in the film but also Logan’s conflict.
Xavier: “I always know who you are its just sometimes I don’t recognize you.”
8) When I first saw the film I thought this was just a nice wink to the first X-Men film.
Logan [after Charles says someone is waiting for him at the statue of liberty]: “Statue of liberty was a long time ago, Charles.”
Only with this viewing did I realize the motel where Logan meets Laura and Gabriella is the Liberty Motel with a statue of liberty logo.
9) This is part of the whole “the characters don’t know what they’re supposed to represent” trope in Westerns, but Xavier is kind of a dick in this film.
Xavier: “What a disappointment you are.”
Like, I get that you’ve had a hard life too Charles. But Logan is around 150 years old (I think). He’s been through the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, lost his memories, got them back at some point, and of course went through the events of every single X-Men film that happened before (including losing everyone in Days of Future Past then getting them back then losing them again before this film).
10) I thought it was a smart decision to only HINT at what happened with the X-Men instead of actually showing it.
Xavier: “Logan, what did you do? What did you do!?”
I’ll talk more about this in a little bit though.
11) Gabriella going to Logan for help feels like a Western trope. Like in The Magnificent Seven, the former outlaw/gunslinger trying to lead a quiet life is pulled back into it by someone who NEEDS them. In this case Logan is the gunslinger.
12) Dafne Keen as Laura.
Tumblr media
Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. This girl. This fucking girl. This fucking girl is so fucking incredible. It is wildly difficult for me to wrap my head around how fucking amazing Dafne Keen is as Laura. I mean, her first sign of unique character and strength is when she fucking knocks out Pierce by throwing a damn pipe at his head! A mostly silent part for the first half (two-thirds?) of the film, Keen is able to embrace the physicality of her role BEAUTIFULLY. The way she moves, the look in her fucking eyes. She’s SO intense and that’s amazing. Everything about her. The fact that an eleven year old girl could be so damn intimidating speaks massively to her performance in this film. Hugh Jackman has been playing this part for longer than she’s been ALIVE and she can hold her own with him in every one of his her fucking scenes! This girl is a tiny badass! You know you don’t want to mess with Laura because she will fuck you up! I mean holy shit, she walks up to a group of bad guys with a fucking decapitated head. SHE GETS A HARPOON SHOT THROUGH HER CHEST AND IT BARELY PHASES HER! That entire first fight scene with her, Logan, and Pierce’s crew at their makeshift home shows off her skills as an actress phenomenally! She is a raging force of nature you do NOT want to piss off! Dafne Keen is the breakout star in Hugh Jackman’s last time as Wolverine! That tells a lot!
13) Bad guys deluding themselves into thinking their good guys is very honest to reality, but honestly how can you hunt down and murder children like a fucking sack of shit and think you’re still the good guy?
Pierce [to Caliban]: “I’m gonna need you to do one more thing for the good guys.”
14) Fuck Transigen. This film really did a good job of making films who you are hoping get brutally massacred by Logan and Laura. THEY BIRTHED CHILDREN FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF STUDYING THEM AND SELLING THEM AS SOLDIERS!
Dr. Rice [Transigen head scientist]: “Do not think of them as children. Think of them as things with patents and copyrights.”
I cannot begin to express how absolutely fucking horrific and despicable that concept is. THIS IS A COMPANY WHO TRYS TO KILL CHILDREN BECAUSE, “They could not be controlled.” BECAUSE THYE DIDN’T SERVE A PURPOSE! BECAUSE THEY WERE ACTUALLY HUMAN CHILDREN TRANSIGEN TRIED TO FUCKING MURDER THEM!
I look forward to their deaths.
15) I dig this.
Xavier: “She’s your daughter Logan.”
In the comics X-23 is a female clone of Wolverine, pushing that forward into a father/daughter relationship I think is strong. You can feel their relationship in her performance. Even when Laura is giving Logan a death stare you can feel that they’re connected. I mean, he’s the only one who gets ANYWHERE by telling her what to do.
16) Shane is prominently featured in a scene during the first half of the film.
Tumblr media
Xavier talking about an early memory of seeing Shane in the theaters (when he was a kid) was reportedly an improvised moment. According to IMDb, this is an actual memory Patrick Stewart has from his youth which he brought up for the film. Shane was a large influence on the film, and one of the most iconic moments from the film ties very significantly into the movie.
Shane: “A man has to be what he is, Joey. Can’t break the mold. I tried it and it didn’t work for me. Joey, there’s no living with…with a killing. There’s no going back from one. Right or wrong, it’s a brand. A brand sticks. There’s no going back. Now you run on home to your mother, and tell her…tell her everything’s all right. And there aren’t any more guns in the valley.”
17) Logan losing it at the X-Men comics he finds is very telling of how he views the past. The very first page he opens to is Wolverine saving Rogue, who is notably absent from this film and who Logan had the strongest relationship with in X-Men and X2. This is how he WISHES life was. A big adventure, where he got to save his friends and the world on a more regular basis. Instead he’s left with pain and heartache.
17.1) The X-Men comics had to be special made for this film, as Marvel wouldn’t allow the studio to use actual X-Men comics.
Tumblr media
18) Xavier’s Oklahoma City seizure.
Tumblr media
When I first saw this film in theaters, this was the moment I went, “Holy shit, this film is amazing.” The fact that they turn this scene where everyone is frozen into a pseudo-action scene is amazing. Logan taking the time to go around and kill the bad guys is not only intelligent and organic but amazing to the eye. According to IMDb:
Professor Xavier's Psionic blast was done by shooting shaky footage and then re-stabilizing the frame in post. Resulting a footage containing strange motion blur with smearing effect, that is both organic and very unusual. The team shot the sequences slightly wider than was needed so that shots could be blown up to hide the edges of the stabilizing effect.
All of this makes the scene CRAZY strong and memorable, with Laura even participating by killing the one guy Logan missed.
19) What exactly happened to the X-Men.
News Reporter [reporting on the Oklahoma City incident; referring to a similar instance back in Westchester a year ago]: “…and took the lives of several mutants, including seven of the X-Men.”
In the comics, because of a psychic attack on Wolverine, he killed what he thought were super villains attacking X-Mansion which turned out to be his fellow teammates. In pre production there was the idea to film this as a prologue to the movie, while in the later dinner scene there was a deleted moment where Xavier went into detail about what happened at X-Mansion. I prefer this because it allows us as the audience to have hope that our favorite X-Men survived. (I may have even gotten the quote wrong; the reporter could have said, “seven mutants, including several of the X-Men.”)
20) Logan and the family dinner.
Tumblr media
This was a concept first introduced in X-Men Origins: Wolverine; Logan finding a bit of peace and normalcy before his life goes crazy again. It is a nice moment of warmth in a story of heartache. What makes it all the worse? Logan, Xavier, and Laura. They WANT this. They are eager to have it.
Xavier [to Logan, about the family]: “You should take a moment and feel it.”
This is the goal. Xavier wants the Sunseeker boat with Logan, Laura wants her friends and family, but only one of the three gets this. Excuse me, I’m sad now.
21)
Will Munson [after Logan takes care of some redneck thugs]: “You’ve had training.”
Logan: “Some.”
Tumblr media
22) Well. This is heartbreaking.
Charles: “This was without a doubt the most perfect night I’ve had in a long time. But I don’t deserve it, do I?…I think I finally understand you. Logan?”
Except he’s pouring his heart out to NOT Logan, but a Wolverine clone who murders him!
23) Fucking Logan clones.
Tumblr media
(GIF originally posted by @notias1)
The dual Hugh Jackman-s in this scene are amazing, especially the seamless transition between X-24 walking down the stairs and Logan looking after him. The fight is strong as well, but nothing compared with what’s to come.
24) I love that these are Caliban’s final words, in reference to what Pierce told him earlier. It’s surprisingly badass.
Caliban [before setting off some grenades]: “Beware the light.”
25) Can I be totally honest with you guys? Hugh Jackman deserves a fucking Oscar nomination for this film. Like, 100%. Maybe there’ll be enough better performances towards the end of the year, but it at least deserves to be TALKED about. Just look at the scene where he’s standing over Xavier’s grave. He barely says a fucking word but still there is so much incredible raw emotion in his performance. There is heartache, there is anger, and it is all just SO amazing. But of course it’s the Oscars. He won’t even be a part of the conversation because it’s a comic book movie that came out in March.
youtube
26) Having a mute character speak COULD take away from what makes them interesting, but because of Dafne Keen’s performance Laura she is even MORE compelling.
Logan: “I don’t know how you got me here [to the hospital] but thank you.”
Laura: “De nada.”
The passion, honesty, ferocity, and focus which made her physical performance so compelling in the first half of the film all carries through beautifully into her voice and it just works so seamlessly. I fucking love it.
27) I’m not crying, promise.
Laura: “You’re dying. You want to die. Charles told me.”
Logan: “What else did he tell you?”
Laura: “To not let you.”
This was the exchange that made me think Logan was going to survive the film. Boy, was I wrong.
28) Okay, um…
Logan [when Laura shows him his adamantium bullet]: “Actually, I uh…was thinking of shooting myself with it.”
In X-Men Origins: Wolverine Logan got shot point blank in the skull with an adamanitum bullet and survived, he just lost his memories. You could say he wouldn’t survive in this film because of his healing being weaker, BUT that’s how they kill the Wolverine clone X-24 by shooting him in the head with it. BUT IT DIDN’T WORK IN X-Men Origins!
Tumblr media
29) Laura is vicious!
Logan [when Laura is being distant from him]: “I even gave back the money!”
Laura [coldly]: “Such a nice man.”
Tumblr media
(GIF originally posted by @rocktheholygrail)
30) I’m not crying. I promise. Not yet.
Logan: “Bad shit happens to people I care about. Understand me?”
Laura: “Then I’ll be fine.”
Tumblr media
(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)
31) Wolverine fighting in the woods to save the kids from being murdered by Pierce and Rice is probably the worthiest cause Logan has ever fought for, and the way he is choreographed as fighting alongside Laura shows their relationship is as strong as ever. They work with/off of each other, making each other stronger and helping the other survive. Because they’re family.
32) The fact that Wolverine’s final battle is against himself (or, a clone of himself) is probably deeply poetic but I’m too fascinated by what’s going on screen to analyze it. Again, he and Laura are fighting side by side here. Hell, it’s Laura he’s fighting for! And it’s Logan Laura is fighting to save. She’s the one who shoots X-24 in the head to kill him in an attempt to save Logan. But…oh boy…I don’t know if I can write this…
33) Pierce’s death is horrible and gratuitous and SO fucking cathartic considering he spent the entire film DESPERATELY TRYING TO MURDER CHILDREN! (Warning, below video features graphic content from an R-rated film. Viewer discretion is advised.
youtube
34) Logan’s death.
youtube
For one thing (holy shit I’m tearing up as a write this, what the fuck?), the prophecy Yukio made in The Wolverine comes to pass.
Tumblr media
(Screenshot taken from a GIF set originally posted by @highsmith)
Except it’s not literally his heart, like in The Wolverine. It’s Laura. Laura is his heart. And, um…wow this is fucking hard. Okay look: I didn’t cry when I saw this in theaters. Everyone else did, but I kinda saw it coming. But a lot has happened between now and then so it hits closer to home. Anyone who has lost a parent or a loved one will be moved as Logan’s daughter watches him while he dies.
Logan: “Don’t be what they made you. Laura…”
Tumblr media
Logan: “Ah, so this is what it feels like.”
This is the only time Laura refers to Logan as her father and also the only time Logan doesn’t deny it. Showing that they’ve accepted their relationship, but then he dies. Holding his daughter’s hand in his own. Because she’s his heart. Okay now I’m tearing up.
You know what makes the scene even harder? The little fucking funeral all the kids have for their savior. For the Wolverine. For Logan. And the fact Laura uses the same quote from Shane harkens back not only to a brief moment of just being a kid with Xavier and her dad in the other room, but also just what kind of impact those words have in a new light.
Laura [quoting Shane]: “A man has to be what he is, Joey. Can’t break the mold. There’s no living with a killing. There’s no going back. Right or wrong, it’s a brand. A brand that sticks. Now you run on home to your mother, and tell her everything’s all right. And there are no more guns in the valley.”
And then, in what is probably the most fitting final image of this 17 year old character, Laura turns the cross into an X.
Tumblr media
Logan is a masterpiece. Working in a different style and going against established superhero and X-Men tropes makes this a worthy finale to Hugh Jackman’s tenure as the character. He is as strong as ever, Patrick Stewart is as strong as ever, and newcomer Dafne Keen fucking hits it out of the park. It’s heartbreaking and brutal and amazing because of these things. It’s fantastic and I think everyone should see it. Just...wow.

An everlasting roundabout
Hello internet friends,
I extend to you my warmest regards. You may call me Gil. I am a 20+ year old writer by hobby, a full-time student at a university and soon to be management assistant in sports and fitness. One of my greatest hobbies are roleplaying and drawing, sometimes even doodling my own characters for my book or the roleplay itself. A few things about me:

I am a mature writer with no inhibition when it comes to adult themes, meaning that I will only accept partners at the age of 20+ and up. Though if convinced, I am also willing to take 18+ partners as well, depending on how compatible we are or not. I have been writing for ten years or so and made my fair share of experiences. My timezone is CET in case you are wondering, though I couldn’t care less which timezone my partner has. I am happy to accept anyone who is able to uphold a stable partnership with a steady replying rate, someone who puts in an equal amount of effort and dedication. My tastes vary, though what I find most fascinating are dark, supernatural, thriller and sci fi themed plots.

What I’m looking for is someone who shares great passion and love for roleplaying and creative writing. This is very dear to me, so if you’re someone who’s in for a casual run, you might out of luck.

I have a strong penchant for original characters and ideas that could be added to a pre-existing canon plot. But I am also open to something original in case we aren’t able to find any suiting fandoms for both of us.

Before I go and include the fandoms and topics down below, it would be greatly appreciated if you’d read through my set of rules, guidelines and limits.
What it takes:
I write in third person perspective. Concerning length and frequency, my writing is wide-ranging and flexible, which means that frequently the word count can rise to 1000+ words per reply. But it is also very reliant on the given situation and my partner’s length. There should be a balanced outlook on quality vs quantity. I love both, so there’s no need in keeping things curt. Detail in description is a definite. If you are someone who rather glosses over things, you are talking to the wrong person here. I am actively seeking someone of the same infamy. You should have a basic grasp on grammar, punctuation and a bit of an interest in knowledgeable writing. With that being said I am by no means a cunning linguist, rather a simple mortal who enjoys venting in a creative way. I also prefer to double, so I hope this is something you are also okay with.
This entails a lot of mature and adult content. If you are rather squeamish or someone who is not comfortable with gore, violence, physical brutality, foul language, horror, monsters, sexual as well as erotic content, do not contact me. I respect my partner’s boundaries, however, I am not someone who is interested in fluff or slice of life stories, sorry. But what I do love is good dialogue, strong chemistry, drama and intrigue, sometimes even political intrigue. Usually I do not fade to black, unless it is a scene of little importance that we can skip to further the plot. My only limits are pedophilia, necrophilia, toilet play, the list goes on.
My line of interests are quite dynamic and colourful when it comes to genres. I love conceiving my own lore inside a story, be it an original or a canon universe. Gothic fantasy among others are one of my favourites. I am not opposed to tapping into some science fiction, action, romance, crime, action or thriller genres, in fact I encourage it. Sometimes I draw my inspiration from Lovecraft for the most part, but there many other authors I have grown to adore. Perhaps we could have a conversation about our favourite authors and share some inspirations.
It should be very character driven, that in itself is self-evident. However, this doesn’t mean the world around our characters should be neglected as a result. We should both take equal parts in shaping and building the world, making sure the environment they interact with feels lively and large. Discussing plots and such during and before the roleplay itself is always welcome! However I am also always happy to be surprised by my partner. There’s no need to lay out all the cards on the table… keep it a little mysterious and suspenseful. Just enough so we can work with the given ideas, but not completely kill off the suspense.
One thing that has come time attention quite frequently is the communication between partners and compatibility. I encourage chatting outside of the roleplay as I always love making new friends and getting to know the person I am sharing with. If there is something that does not fit with the roleplay setting, may it be an uncharacteristic behaviour, a senseless situation or over and all, some issues that need fixing, I happily like to discuss and give some constructive criticism. And I love to receive vice versa! If there is something that is bothering you, TELL ME. It won’t be taken personally, by all means, if there’s something on your mind, share it with me. We can discuss matters in a rational manner. Too many times I’ve had encountered the issue of someone taking it as a personal attack when it really wasn’t. When there are flaws inside of the RP’s logic, story or character, I would like to point that out or have it pointed out to me before it is too late. I am very chill about it.  Another thing which is pet peeve of mine, is when people ghost you without warning, may it be because of the previously mentioned point or other reasons outside of the roleplay. If you need the put the RP on hold, or if you are simply busy for a longer period of time, I fully understand. I myself have a life outside of the roleplay, so there’s no need to be shy about it.
Pairings and romance is an open book for me. I am fine with all sorts of pairings, be it purely male romance, female romance or the classic m x f relationship. Though I have more experience with m x f pairings, I am happy to take on any role, be it male or female. However it also highly depends on the chemistry between the characters, and if they compel me, I ship them as much as I can. Concerning sexual scenarios and intimacy, I’d like it to be tastefully written and not have it fall into the vulgar category.
So I hope you survived my tedious guideline paragraphs, lol.
As promised, the various cravings and fandoms I am aching to roleplay:
Jojo’s Bizzarre Adventure: This anime surely has made it’s impact on me. Especially the vast world and endless possibilities, it offers a great hotbed for original ideas as well as OC’s. I am willing to play every season up to part 5 which I haven’t watched yet, sadly.
Castlevania: I am open to either the Netflix version or the game series. Castlevania is so beautiful and intricate, yet so mysteriously dark and dripping with style.
Star Wars: Okay this one is bit of a tricky one. I am not interested in the latest SW films. I find the film / cinematic universe rather boring and have found more interest in the Clone Wars series, but even more the The Old Republic series. I am also very much craving something original! Somewhere set a thousand or a hundred years prior to the Skywalker saga with purely original characters. This could be a fresh new concept that we could mould and experiment with!
Devil May Cry: One of my favourite games of all time! Honestly, I would love you to death for this! I have played through every game instalment there is, and even read a few of the mangas. Yes, I am that kind of nerd. I don’t care which version rather suits your fancy, as I am eager to explore every version and willing to play any character.
Harry Potter: Perhaps a next gen? And no, I am not talking about the cursed child saga. I find it rather interesting to have the next generation of characters be our OC’s. For further discussion, let me know what your inspirations are.
Marvel / DC: Although I have pretty much distanced myself from the superhero genre after seeing Endgame, I am still open to accept some partners. (Although I am not as enthused about it as I used to be.)
Other mentions (my lesser cravings):
The Witcher
The Tudors
Supernatural
Game of Thrones
Dragon Age

As for roleplaying method, I mostly rely on Email or Googledocs. This is non-negotiable, sorry. Other platforms have proven to me to be a bit of a hassle.

We can also chat on Discord after establishing everything else. To contact me, use this email address here: [email protected] Give me a little introduction of yourself, what your cravings, pet peeves as well as fields of interest are. You can be descriptive about it, it would only stoke my excitement, making me want to get to know you even more.

Should there be any further questions, ask right away.

Till then, I am looking forward to meeting you!

Cheers, -Gil

Kamala Harris has two books coming out this week: her memoir and a children’s book to accompany it. The Truths We Hold: An American Journey is the story of the formidable California Senator’s upbringing and an overview of her governing principles. Superheroes Are Everywhere is a colorful and lovingly illustrated picture book that teaches little ones that superheroes don’t always wear a mask and a cape. In fact, they are all around us—in the form of the friends we play with and the grown-ups who care for us and our communities. Lest anyone misses the powerful message, there is a version of Harris’s story aimed at middle readers, which is coming out later this year.

Once upon a time, colors lived separately: reds with reds, yellows with yellows, and blues with blues. Until one day, a yellow and a blue fell in love and decided to mix. While at first they shocked their friends and neighbors, the beautiful green they created together served as an inspiration to others. As more colors mixed and mixed and mixed, they upended the old ways of living and made a rainbow of beautiful new shades in the process. This thoroughly modern tale is beautifully illustrated, charming to read and full of deeper meaning.

MOVIE 14: US
So at first I found this to be a Twilight Zone episode writ large which is a good and bad thing - strong concept and ideas that play well in a 30-40 mins space but fall flat given a feature running time but by the end of the movie I thought it was just a noble failure.
For sociology nerds this was like a superhero comic fan watching those movies or a grindhouse nerd watching a tarantino film - the spotting & unpacking of references was a lot of fun.
At first I thought this was Peele, after dealing with whites in 'Get Out' turning his gaze on 'Us' i.e. African Americans
So you have this 'Straw Dogs/ Funny Games' meets 'Coraline' style home invasion horror where you have a middle class black family - not Candice Owens BLEXIT conservatives - being invaded by their nappy haired dopplegangers wearing outfits like look like prison uniforms who talk about 'a girl and her shadow'.
The bit where a scared Winston Duke puts on a blaccent to show the intruders he meant business was super clever and weirdly my brother and I were the only people who laughed at that in the cinema.
I now strap myself in for a horror thriller about Class within the black community - black guilt and responsibilities of how the black middle class has maybe forsaken responsibilities to their community to pursue suburban white aspirations that try as they might they'll never truly fit into. The black poor also as the Jungian shadow of the black middle class was exciting to me.
Juicy stuff - but that soon peters out and we see that this is happening to their white middle class neighbours.
Now I'm thinking ooooo, White Suburbia vs the white poor (Trump Quake! Lol) but then it gets national and now I'm thinking it's about the collective madness that's viral in the world now that we're also seeing in 'A Quiet Place' and 'Bird Box' but WAY before it Stephen King & Frank Darabont's super prescient and awesome 'The Mist'.
When it gets to the reveal of there being a twisted shadow society underground that mimics what the normal people are doing above ground but in a ugly & budget way it brought to mind Zizek - I know he's a dickhead - but I loved the bit in his film 'The Perverts Guide to Ideology' where he inter-cuts footage of the looting from the London riots with Black Friday sales and the point of it being that looting is the poors twisted echo of Consumerism and made me think of the some of the aspects of underclass living being a perverted performance of middle class/capitalist ideology
then the movie kinda ends and drops its incredibly glib Shymalan twist that the twisted clone switched places with the real version leaving the real one to live her horrible life.
Now - the film is ripe with awesome allegory but the actual story is very by-the-numbers survival thriller that had none of the WTF twists of 'Get Out' - and this final twist was TOO IMPORTANT to end the film with. What they SHOULD have done was drop it as a 2nd act reveal - that the Other Mother was the REAL person - a 'Man In The Iron Mask' sitch - where now the villain is so much stronger but we also care for the lead who despite having done a messed up thing as a kid, doesn't want to lose her family. Now I'm hooked and Peele has a whole act to bounce us around like her did with 'Get Out'.
The rabbits threw me back to 'The Favourite' lol and subtextually made me think of both 'Alice In Wonderland' and 'Br'er Rabbit' and the tunnels having an 'Dark Days' and underground railroad vibe.
This is by no means a crappy movie and not a failure because it's not 'scary' - Peele is working along the tradition of Ira Levin where like 'The Stepford Wives' its more of a satirical thriller - the problem is that it's really leaden in it's storytelling and doesn't have the clarity and slight of hand plot-twists of his last movie BUT the real tragedy of it is that Lupita Nyong'o is given a big platform in this movie and SMASHES IT but Hollywood being Hollywood I doubt she'll be given such space in a movie again - I hope I'm being overly pessimistic but if it was Florence Pugh this would have casting directors listing her higher up the ladder (which they will when 'Midsomer' drops)

10 massive movie, film and game reveals from San Diego Comic-Con 2018
http://www.internetunleashed.co.uk/?p=15352 10 massive movie, film and game reveals from San Diego Comic-Con 2018 - http://www.internetunleashed.co.uk/?p=15352 San Diego Comic-Con is a wonderful place where dreams come true – unless you’re a fan of The Walking Dead and have had your heart smashed to a million pieces by the confirmed departure of Andrew Lincoln. But we digress! It can also be an exhausting place, whether you’re actually there covering some serious footfall, or at home, most likely glued to social media awaiting all the latest news. Well, never fear, your mates at NME have done you a solid and picked out a bite sized taster of the best new offerings. We didn’t make popcorn, mind. Don’t be greedy. The Walking Dead will rumble on without Rick Geekometer: 7/10 The new series of AMC’s long running zombie apocalypse show – we’re now on season nine, quite remarkably – arrives on October 7 carrying a weight of expectation. The general consensus is that season eight was poor, and, according to Nielsen Live+Same Day data, its midseason premiere drew a 3.6 rating in adults 18 to 49 and 8.3 million viewers. That’s the lowest-rated midseason premiere to date. Still, there remains a sizeable and avid fandom. The news Rick Grimes is leaving at some point during the season has hit the community hard, but if you’ve come this far, are you really going to bail out now? Godzilla: King Of The Monsters will have more of the big fella – and Eleven Geekometer: 9/10 Again, a franchise that really needs to deliver. 2014’s Gareth Edwards directed series reboot Godzilla was an uneven movie, with poor dialogue and nowhere near enough screentime for the big green fella. This time round, Michael Dougherty, writer/director of the fun horror comedy Krampus is the big cheese. And speaking of big, the sequel features kajui legends King Ghidorah, Morthra and Rodan, as well as the titular antihero. In this case, more is definitely more. Nightflyers is the new one from Thrones man George RR Martin Geekometer: 8/10 So apparently George R.R Martin has written other books, ones not about dragons! No, we knew this, and in fact, are fans of the 1987 film adaptation of GRRM’s 1980 novella. But we’re well up for this forthcoming Netflix adaptation, which looks like the kind of messed up space horror that will salivate us until someone remembers how to make a good Alien movie again. In space, no-one can hear you stream… DC’s Titans is gonna be dark AF Geeokometer: 10/10 If you’ve ever found yourself watching Teen Titans GO! on the Cartoon Network, you’ll know it’s a very funny, very cute, very kid-friendly take on the DC Comics series, which first debuted as far back as 1964. Well ignore everything you know about that, because DC’s forthcoming live-action series, simply titled Titans, is brutal. There’s broken bones, generous splashes of crimson, oh, and within about a minute of the trailer starting, Robin growls “Fuck Batman” and murders a load of wrong uns. If that kind of grit doesn’t distinguish this series from the cartoons that came prior (and it does), as well as Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy featuring, Dove turns up, and she’s only ever been in the comics. The new Doctor Who is going to be the most inclusive yet Geekometer: 7/10 Yeah, we got to see the new screwdriver, and somewhat excitingly, it appears Jodie Whittaker is planning to play her role as the Thirteenth Doctor as a sort of Time Lord take on the late Victoria Wood. But the big reveal is that it seems an episode of the new Who will be exploring the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. In the new trailer, you can just about make out the words ‘Montgomery Motor Trailer’ – Montgomery being the U.S. city where Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white passenger in 1955. Fitting subject matter for the most inclusive cast and crew Doctor Who has seen yet. M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass might actually be OK Geekometer:8/10 After 2015’s excellent low budget horror The Visit and 2016’s hugely successful Split, the words ‘From M. Night Shyamalan’ have stopped feeling like so much of a threat and more of a promise again, and so expectation is high for the 47-year-old twistmeisters new film, Glass. Shyamalan has raided his back catalogue to reunite James McAvoy’s The Beast from Split and Bruce Willis’ David Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson’s Mr. Glass from 2000’s Unbreakable. We’re getting strong Watchmen vibes. American Horror Story stalwart Sarah Paulson also stars. Star Wars: The Clone Wars will finally be resolved Geekometer: 9/10 A huge surprise this one. And so many unanswered questions! Not since 2013 have we heard anything from the brilliant Star Wars animated series, and, with season six ending with a vague-not-at-all-satisfactory-semi-cliff-hanger, we’re finally going to get some resolution when the series comes to Disney’s as-yet-untitled new streaming service in 2019. Oh, and this is cool, it appears Anakin Skywalkers’ apprentice Ahsoka Tano is back. That can only mean much cosmic badassery. The new Spider-Man game looks set to be pretty great Geekometer: 6/10 With the possible exception of Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last Of Us 2, and really, it depends whether you like web slinging, brain bursting or lasso, um, throwing, no videogame is as feverishly anticipated as Insomniac Games forthcoming Spider-Man title, due September 7. Comic-Con did reveal that the tweener character Silver Sable will appear, while the list of villains featured is starting to appear pretty exhaustive; Mister Negative, Kingpin, Shocker, Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, Taskmaster… and we swear we saw the briefest of cameos from Vulture in there too. Not long to wait now! Johnny Depp is going method for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Geekometer: 7/10 Though this film’s Comic-Con panel saw a host of the forthcoming features stars – Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Ezra Miller – all eyes were on Jonny Depp, who plays the titular Gellert Grindelwald. Depp’s inclusion in the ongoing Harry Potter spin-off, has proved so controversial, owing to the actors alleged domestic violence, that J.K Rowling issued a statement last December, defending his involvement. Depp didn’t attend the panel discussion, and instead showed up at the end of the presentation dressed in character. He said; “The great gift of your applause is not for me but for yourselves,” he said, waving his wand. “Magic blooms only in rare souls. It is granted to those who live for higher purposes. What a world we would make for all of humanity. We, who live for freedom, for truth — the moment has come to rise up and take our rightful place in the world.” The lights went out and he exited. There’s a SHAZAM! film. You know, Shazam!. Shazam!? Geekometer: 8/10 Yeah it’s a DC Extended Universe production, but hold your speeding bullets. This, the seventh movie in the sometimes wretched series, actually looks pretty good. Shazam! is a pretty niche character within DC Comics lore – this will actually be the first appearance of the character – a teenage boy who can turn into an adult superhero via the utterance of the magic word in the title – on film, since the 1941 serial The Adventures Of Captain Marvel. Zachary Levi stars. We like him.     Source link

The Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider Man Review
About three years ago, when I decided to get really back into comics, when Marvel Mania was pretty much where it was right now, which is extremely high, my first real port of call, the one I really wanted to read was  Matt fraction’s  Hawkeye series, which was fantastic. I know it got some criticism. I imagined it would. I read it in trade, which probably helped a lot. In that year or so, I really intensely read Marvel comics, like almost non-stop. To me, and I suspect to a lot of people, and this has been  They were fantastic. I feel it's a real undersold golden age of Marvel stuff is that time period where Marvel was just doing fantastic and it seemed like no series they could do would screw up. The new characters were fun and interesting and diverse.
I remember explicitly one scene where I was like, "There is no better than this. There is no point that could be better than this," and that was the one scene where  It was technically, I guess, an issue where there was a Christmas party . There was no action or anything. It was just undersold and everybody was having a good time. I was like ... As I've mentioned before, what I consider to be good writing, or particularly good character writing, is the characters seem to have lives outside of the story. Every Marvel character seemed to have a life outside of their story. They all seemed to exist.
It was after that it all went so, so, so wrong. I don't know exactly what happened. I mean, of course I do. I know exactly what the reason was. The reason was my most hated enemy and foe, the thing I dislike the most in comic book story telling, is the massive multiplayer crossover thing that seems to happen every year and always is late on schedule, goes on too long, and interrupts everybody's storylines and screws everything up. There was Secret Wars, which was popular but took too long, and then there was Civil War II, which was horrible and took forever.
But the movies were going strong. Some Marvel was still chugging along its film division, for a while definitively being better than its comics division. Brutal ironies. There was that. What did Spider-Man, Peter Parker, the former erstwhile star of the Marvel universe do now? Well, and despite what you might see previously written on this site, I do not, in fact, hate Dan Slott. In the unsung golden age of Marvel that I mentioned, I should bring up one of the ones that I particularly liked was his She-Hulk one. I do feel Slott had run out of ideas of what to do with Spider-Man because when you spend a good deal of time writing a different person than the supposed star of the series, that is not like great ... That usually indicates a man that is not interested particularly in doing the thing he's been doing for years anymore.
Of course, there was other ideas that didn't work out so well and then worked out particularly well with a different person taking over.
There was some good new additions to the cast.
What about Peter himself? Well, I've always had a love/hate relationship with Spider-Man. I realized why I do because I like the character and I like the conception of the character, but I always feel he's the easiest kind of dude to screw up on in a lot of ways because most, I feel, writers project so hard into him. He has a weird almost Superman-ish problem in that sometimes Superman writers don't let Superman be a character and he has to be this ideal for all humanity. It's almost a vague Jesus-y person in a lot of ways. That's the issue for Spider-Man, but with urban and their own personality interests.
The problem hits when Peter is not allowed to be a character of his own, and that, unfortunately, was what was dominating him for the past so many years. In fact, a different Spider-Man totally outshone him for a while. After Homecoming came out and I watched it and I examined it, I realized something about Peter and especially now with this new series. Oh boy, we're getting to the actual review of the thing I promised to review? Peter is a star. Peter Parker deserves his own comic book series because Peter Parker has and always will be a great character. An everyman, although side note, we desperately do need more diverse everyman characters. I'm just saying Peter is a great one of those, who is given great power and wants to do what he can to help the world but is stuck, but is human in a realistic and personable way.
That's why he always remains popular. No matter what, Spider-Man will, I feel, remain popular because kids ... Like Batman in a lot of ways, Spider-Man can always be there for you, but he needs a good writer. I didn't think ... I remember when I first heard about this thing, and I'm always late to everything because I don't really keep up with the news on these regards, and oh my god. Is there not a more perfect match between subject and creative force than Chip Zdarsky writing Spider-Man?
Chip Zdarsky is essentially what Spider-Man (if he also was comic writer/artist)  would be if he was a real-world person. Oh my god. The second I heard about this, I knew they had found an absolutely perfect writer and the series did not disappoint. Brief overview for new readers coming into this world of Spider-Man. By casually mentioning a few things that went on in Peter's life, then pretty much ignoring, except for a few things. It kind of hints at the fact that the biggest significant new contribution to Spider-Man's mythology  is one of’s Mark Wade was the one who I always thought should have been given Spider-Man. Until, they mentioned Chip Zdarsky.
Until Chip Zdarsky name was brought up, and just like his collaborators on sex criminals, Matt Fraction, Matt Fraction, Chip Zdarsky is blessed with an amazing lightness tone , is goofy and brilliant, and builds likable character, unlikeable character almost immediately.
The plot is, I'm up for it, I'm following it but so the plot, the additions I love, so the plot is essentially started by, and spoiler alert for the second issue of this, pretty much the end of the first issue. It started by when Spider man's sister comes to visit him.
That's right, from that graphic novel that I didn't read, but I want to now. It's Theresa Parker, is back in the picture. And for people who've only, who may or may not be related, Peter and Theresa certainly do have the chemistry, the fun chemistry of a brother and sister, which is good.
I don't know, I mean new family members are like soap opera one o one but super heroes are, share a lot of elements with soap operas in a lot of ways. I think most people liked Theresa and the graphic novel where she originated from was popular.
I don't think anybody, I certainly don't have an objection to it. You know you gotta kind of spice up the cast every once in a while, also there is Peter’s  new romantic interest who I like, who's a stand up comedian. I misspoke there, it's not Peter Parker's new romantic interest, it's Spider man's new romantic interest.
Which leads to one of the funniest skits ever where Spider man literally dose stand up and the people are not into it (been there). So the plot is, I'm not 100% fan, although I don't mind it here because they seem to be handling it intelligently.
I'm not 100% fan when superheroes try hookup, like the concept of superheroes to real world politics, because it's such an inherently fanciful idea, the second you try and make it realistic, you always run into a little bit of an issue.
Whatever. No work can be perfect. 100% perfect. Forget that, cause that's not fun. But ultimately this is, and it tracks Peter's position to stop what turns out to be a plot by the tinkerer.
I don't want to get like more into it than that, I want to talk about the relationships because, In the end it's the relationships that make any story worth its while.
They've got some great ones cooking here. Besides, Peter and Theresa who have a great back and forth relationship, even though I dread, I'm not the hugest fan of the shop reveal, "Oh my gosh, I have a long lost sister" I like it.
If she does turn out to be his actually be his sister, or half sister, or cousin, or family member, or clone, oh please don't let her be a clone.
It would be okay if she was a clone but, they do clone stuff way too much and I'm a little sick of that plot point actually in Spider man, but anyways, that would be fantastic. They have the great natural back and forth like siblings do have.
The thing about only children is, I feel there's always a weird thing with only children and children who have siblings, it's like kids who have siblings always think like, gosh wouldn't it be great to be an only child, you wouldn't have to do all this crap and kids like me who was an only child goes, says, boy I'd love, I always kind of thought it'd be really great to have a brother or sister.
I always wanted that kind of relationship where it's like that close familiar relationship where you're close to somebody and they get you as a person and they care about you.  I've always wondered about that in a person, like a peer you know? Anyways, a little too real on my part I guess. But let's talk about a few other people! Johnny Storm is in this and I always personally like it in Spider man stories when he has a close friend in the superhero community.
Either daredevil, and or, Johnny Storm are the two most obvious in my re-read and I've been reading the original spider man stuff lately, I dropped off for a while long time for reasons, and that's a nice call, the fact that Johnny Storm was the first superhero that Peter met, and they have a good back and forth.
I feel like I'm repeating that a lot but one of Zdarsky's strengths as a writer is he's very good at this back and forth stuff, and surprisingly he can get serious and almost always that works off.
I know that Zdarsky is not his real name, but, I think of that as him, writes very believable back and forth, and he has a strength in characters who can just be in rooms together talking a lot like his sex criminals collaborator Matt Fraction.
But the stories he writes usually are much lighter in tone and goofier. Have I mentioned I'm a big fan of Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fraction.
I think I brought that up right? Anyway, I guess the big secondary spoiler, maybe reading this to learn about this kind of thing or not, spoiler spoiler even, more spoilers than spoilage's and you know what spoiled cabbages and stuff like that are coming up is J Jonah Jameson and they fact that Peter tells Jonah that he's Spider man.
Which is a big emotional moment, and one of my favorite secondary characters, in a way matures and also runs a blog, way matures.
So after losing his, not being mayor anymore and not being publisher of the Daily, almost wrote the Daily Planet, I meant the Daily Bugle, Jonah has joined the illustrious and very very successful and hip, and hip, don't forget hip, world of online blogging.
Like most bloggers, he's obsessed just with his traffic numbers and nothing else, I certainly don't know that feeling. Staying up late at night, worrying over. Up late at night, wondering what the figures present me tomorrow. Oh, no. Anyway, so particularly long moment, Peter, who acts in a way that shows that Peter is one of the most truly human in the Marvel Universe. in the south too. Let's admit it, and let's say for real something about Jonah. Jonah is weirdly the real paternal father figure in Peter's life. I know that sounds odd that they always kind of  but if you think about it, Jonah has always been the older male figure that has tried in some way to help Peter. He's been there with him in more ways than Jonah would admit. Jonah was always, in a lot of ways, protective of Peter. It's not a good relationship. It's always been this kind of paternal relationship. Some events happen. I don't want to share the specifics of it because I want you to read the thing, but let's be honest.
If you know me by accident if you're the one person from India and the one person from Finland that seemed to read this site a lot, first Hi. How's it going? I am really appreciative of you two. I don't know who you are, but I really am appreciative. Then you've read this already and you loved it as much as I do. I loved the series so much, I've re-read all of the available issues like a couple of times.
Anyways, I feel in a lot of ways that Jonah of this is one of the hearts of the series, and one of the great arks that Karpinski has really plotted and made use of the character in a way that he hasn't been used in a long way, because he's still both hilariously a cranky old sleaze who several times goes like, "Ah, that's a great story." Cranky old sleazy journalist and JJJ a deeply tragic figure. That's fantastic, man.
So what of crisis crossovers? Why don't they work and how can they work? Why am I bringing that up in the middle of this review? Well, what do you know, there's an alien invasion that happens. I'm not going to tell you how. It's a superhero series and you know. You need a big event, and invasions are good enough. Several superheros come through together to help fight it off. While I was reading this, I had a revaluation. This is a crisis crossover. There is a crisis going on, and there's a crossover, and there's several superheros. But, I don't hate it like I usually do.
I guess the point I wanted to bring up in this series, and I kind of included it in an artless way, but I'm just going to power through that. The real problem, and why I keep going back to this seen, and why this series proves to me that I was right ... That's in a Christmas party where all the superheros get together, is that this point crisis crossovers are essentially pointless. It was interesting a few years ago the original Secret Warriors with the crisis crossovers in it, it was interesting. But the thing is the Marvel Universe and DC Universe are essentially established worlds now and superheros pop in and out of each other all the time. It's not exciting anymore to see that. It's in a way good that it's not exciting anymore, because I don't have problems with shared universes in comics. I think they're fun. I like the idea. There's always another hero to tell another story. Although, you know, Robert Altman, whatever, make another comic book adaptation. I think he'd appreciate that idea, you know.
What this proves to me, and the fact that Storm, whose a very good supporting character in this comic, proves to me is that this feels like a world now. It feels like a real fantastical insane crazy wonderful world. The only thing that crisis crossovers can achieve now is to disestablish other people's stories, ruin character development. The reason why series seem to go downwind after every crisis crossover is because they have to spend the next ten issues justifying the character, getting them back to where they were in their story, and then continuing the story. And with continuous crisis crossovers, the never get back to telling their own stories because that's the truth of it, man.
With this I realized what the issue was. This tells the whole of the Marvel Universe coming together, and doing good themselves, and everybody keeping in character. It's great that we have Chip Zdarsky or Steve because this proves a perfectly match writer and character can work wonders with each other. And that's good. So, for the first time in a while, I feel confident about the Marvel Universe, and the way it's headed. Of course, they could always screw this up, and they probably will at some point. For a while, the water is calm. The ship has not sprung a leak, and everything is still.

Star Wars Female Fans
Star Wars Female Fans
The uniqueness of the female Star Wars, portrayed with a strong will in the male-dominated industry gives the young girls the enthusiasts to take life issues as the female star characters inspire them. Star Wars movies demonstrated that with the appropriate cast and director, in addition to the guts toward reevaluating the main outline and go drastically enormous. The Star Wars female characters are an inspiration and role model to the young female fans.
How Female Fans Made ‘Star Wars’ Their Own
Some female fans come together to make their own Star Wars. Because they want to a form which is a women communication come together. The female fan wants Star Wars could revolve around women. On some social media, fans wrote a post which is “Why does the father have to be the scientist.” ( Johnamarie Macias, Web) It means not just male could be a scientist, the female also could do that. Recently, they posted some opinions on social media to talk about few female character in the film, so more and more writers started to write a story with a female character. Many such minor “Star Wars” characters were multiplied to greater prominence way to their woman admirers. on these sites, it’s now not all Leila. Women can be underrepresented inside the “Star Wars” films, however, the universe is so huge that woman lovers were able to scrape together enough cloth to work with.
Female Star Wars Fans: Strong with the force.
I always think what it means to female fans about Star Wars. I did some research it shows that 501st Legion become out in 1998 and there were so many costumes; however, there were just three women. It is less than 25%. But Until Star Wars female fans want to have a more female character in the film and they post their idea on social media. Many writer and company noticed it. We started to have the film with main female character not just like “girlfriend” it is a superhero character in the film. I think this change gives female kids more understanding how female live in this society, and they could have braver to do “male’s job” in the future.
LGBT “Star Wars” Characters
Beyond female characters in Star Wars itself, it’s occasionally difficult to be a woman fan of famous person wears out on the planet. I realize that it is a little bit weird once I wear my Star Wars shirts. I also need to mention not just for female, just a few year ago, in Star Wars there are no gay, homosexual characters show up. Because of this situation, it gives more pressure to LGBT person. Star Wars influence bunch of young people and they have to show they treat people all equity. I like this movie and I want it could influence more people through the media.
The Strong Women of Star Wars
Fighting the empire does not go away lots of time for small communicate. however, the girls of the “Star Wars” universe manipulate to skip the Bechdel test, which examines how often female characters talk with each other approximately anything apart from a person. and with “Rogue one” (Dec. sixteen), the primary standby myself tale within the film series, a lady is at the coronary heart of a brand new insurrection task.
Because of this strong female character, kids could study a lot from it about equity. For me, if I am not doing this research I could not realize most of the films is a male character. I already accept is inequity gradually and unwittingly. Star Wars, not just a movie for male, female also likes it and want a female character to be a hero in there.
       .   Female character in films
Sly Moore is another comic character who featured in the “Attack of the Clones” and played an administrative assistance to the emperor. Her political influence is the comic movie alongside the emperor is a clear vision of how the women are portrayed is equals to men in the contemporary society. Be that as it may, in a fantastic tale, this sort of advance does not need to be incremental. Including more ladies in group scenes and as foundation characters, even a little rate, is a simple approach to include different qualities. Rogue one tried, however, it’s as yet making baby strides, displaying Sly and Mothma as anomalies in a planet essentially inhabited by men (Staff, 52).
Zam is a female bounty hunter among the male hunters in the star war movie “Attack of the Clones.” She is one of the fastest in her group; however, she is unable to finish most of her calls. Her speed and classy gadgets is an example of the young lady fans that even girls can handle duties perceived to the male calls and still look good at the same time. Zam’s mother, Lyra, presents her a gem. Not only a remembrance to recollect her with, but it is also additionally what controls radiance sabers as well as the weapons on Death Star. Zam is one of two human characters who show up in CGI frame in the motion picture, depicting a form of performing artist Carrie Fisher at the age she was when taping Star Wars
Numa is portrayed as a helper who frees the world. Despite her being young and small size, her courage and strength are seen as she facilitates the freedom of the republic from the droid army. She is an inspiration to the young ladies, giving them the courage to face the world. She is helpful with a blaster or, when essential, a slave chain, so one speculates that had Obi-Wan gave her a lightsaber and sent her after Vader, the adventure would have wrapped up by Cloud City. She’s treated with precisely the perfect measure of veneration in the new set of three.
Female enthusiasts of the establishment had one unique female character to stick to, Princess Leia Organa, who first scenes include her anticipating salvage, in the long run, turns into the paste holding the Rebellion together. It’s quite simple to infer that Organa was the main lady left in the universe. Later motion pictures endeavored to add Organa’s mother Padme Amidala towards the rundown at the same time, in spite of being a powerful congressperson and skilled negotiator, Amidala’s vital capacity was to wed the person who progressed toward becoming Darth Vader, then fantastic bringing forth the Skywalker twins (Horstmann et al., 28).
Aurra is a star war female warrior whole art of assassination is perfected. She heads most of the war, and she is also a leader and mentor to the bounty hunters Boba as seen in the movie Attack of Clones. Her leadership role is an inspiration to the young ladies who want to be leaders in the community. It is a decent film that would most likely not have been as energizing had it not occurred in the Star Wars universe (Kim, 39). Without that critical scenery and mythology, it could have been whatever other nonspecific activity motion picture. There were some incredible minutes and remarkable enhancements, great activity and even some incredibly amusing trades and gestures to preceding movies. In any case, these significant minutes aside, Rogue One remains my slightest most loved of the non-prequel films, and its weaknesses uncover so profoundly missed potential. Be that as it may, the possibility that female characters could accomplish more than getting caught, conceive an offspring, or bite the dust appeared to be excessively for some male fans.
According to these female characters, it shows that female has a big influence in the society, so not only we teach everyone to treat everyone to be equity, the social media also has to do something to keep gender equal. After more films have female characters, more female fans could talk more about their identity.
