who: @clint-bennet where: on the water out near the lighthouse
"god dammit..." ari wipes the spray of sea water dripping from his face, in the distance young kids in jetski's were having the time of their life a little too close to the lighthouse. ari had never jetski'd in his life, but was well aware they weren't allowed to bring those vessels too close to the rocks. as they continued to spin around in circles and spray waves of water in the direction of ari's kayak, the man was nearly knocked off into the water. resting his ore to the side, ari leans back to check his belongings secured by hooked bungee cords hadn't fallen off. it's only then he realises he wasn't alone in the water, and a small boat sat not too far behind him. catching the view of a man at the helm, ari calls out, "did you see that?"

Closed: @clint-bennet – Attempting to rid her nerves prior to her lessons.
The most she felt comfortable doing out in the water was swimming prior to coming to California. While in college, Luisa regularly took surfing and paddle board lessons, feeling more of an intermediate in those arenas which was a win in itself. One of her students had told her that they had gone scuba diving over the holiday break and she figured why not her? Calling the local company, the desk associate of Air Bubbles referred her to one of the instructors named Clint. A windy day by the waterfront, she saw the sandy-haired man and approached slowly. "Hey there! You must be Clint? The bonafide scuba expert?"

Closed: @clint-bennet – Bros who fish together...
"I can't believe those motherfuckers just took our spot!" Roman didn't mind throwing a few words around if need be. He was looking forward to fishing and everyone knew that section of the jetty had some of the best catches. For the most part, people respected one another out in the waters. It was just a given, but these were some moron small-minded idiots who were being nothing but obnoxious. They had cut them off aggressively, almost sending Roman into the water to bypass them into the section. "We're not just gonna let them have it, right?" He didn't know what Clint's stance on this was but the Cavendish was certainly irritated if not slightly taken aback.

"Yeah, it is." From where the two men originated, the ticky-tacky boxes and white picket fences where a world away from what they knew. A little Jude wouldn't of ever conceived the notion of leaving his tiny town, let alone the state of Louisiana. But here they were, catering to gentrifying tourists and locals of the west coast. "Let me know when y'work out how t'get rid of that feelin'."
"Y'adapt to becoming the outsider, and y'find a few people that make y'feel welcomed, that's enough for me." That's all he'd come to expect. However Jude also had a habit of not allowing people to break past his walls, so who was really to blame here for his isolation?
A bout of humoured air escapes Jude's lips, "I'lll r'member that." Pulling away from his leaning stance against the car, he heads momentarily into the office for a moment, "I'll get 'cha invoice." Once reappearing with the slightly crinkled piece of paper, he looks back up Clint. Who looks, ever so slightly, less like the ghost from before.
"Right back at 'ya." It was nice to have someone around to understood the kind of person he was, the places he came from. Taking the card from the mans hand, the invitation momentarily catches Jude off guard. Clint was always a ghost, he existed in theory, but was transparent and hollow from within. Jude knew nothing of substance to his life. "Yeah, sounds good. There's some half decent places 'round here."
— @clint-bennet
"I'm tryin'. Th' new scenery has helped. Comin' t' a ritzy-ass tourist town like this was a hell of a culture shock, sure it'll wear of though." It better, it wasn't like he had the funds to move around every few years and he wasn't exactly sure he would ever find a place that fit just right anyway. "Y'ended up gettin' used t'it right?" He questions before the compliment, offering a shrug in return. When Jude offered the part for free, Clint shook his head. "Nah man, ain't on my dime, it's for m'boss, y'can upcharge it if ya want." He points out as he digs in his pocket for his wallet, shooting Jude a quick smile at his last comment. "Glad t'be it too, 'n glad t'see ya thrivin' out here. We should grab a bite sometime, shoot th'shit 'n catch up when we're not on th'clock." Producing the company card, he hands it over to the familiar man. "Y'know, if that's somethin' you'd be interested in. If not, no hard feelin's."

"You left your wallet at the bar last night," Laurel said, tossing it onto the counter as she looked around the scuba club. She couldn't say she'd ever stepped foot in this place; she was typically the opposite of adventurous, and she couldn't say that scuba diving was on her bucket list. "You're lucky I scooped it before any of those drunk old timers could get to it. You probably wouldn't have seen it again."
She idly examined a decorative fin at the front desk and yeah, she definitely wasn't going to be taking this up as a hobby anytime soon. She'd probably put one of those on and end up too incapacitated with laughter at how ridiculous they looked to actually get onto the water. "So this is where you hide out during the day, huh? I don't think I've ever seen you when the sun's out, actually."

What is the first thing you notice in someone?
"Their voice! There's a lot of things going on in a voice. My Uncle Sol doesn't hesitate in the pace of how he talks but there's a tiny catch at the back of his throat a lot. My dad cuts vowels out of his words like he suspects they might be too soft. Clint talks like he's treading water, sort of bobbing and liquid, from a distance. Nicki almost always hits second syllables, like she's trying to hold herself back from galloping in how she talks. Cass talks in sibilants and sort of drops into words from above. Ares talks up against the roof of his mouth like he might need to take it back at any minute. Mayra's voice is like shale, it has a beautiful fine-grained quality but it shatters sharp. Zack talks throaty and low and rough but he has this perfect lyrical diction, almost trained.
Voices mean a lot to me. I pay attention to them."

You said sending Clint to the ranch would be a sort of test run for him to consider him joining the raiders. Have you made your decision on that or have things changed?
Clint came back the worse for wear and I'm pretty sure deeply traumatized. I don't think it's the best time to come to any hard and fast decision about making him take up a new and dangerous job in town, do you?

Do you want things to get better between you and your brother?
Shit yeah. A whole mess of things went wrong between us but I reckon the biggest load of that could be laid square at our father's feet. Don't everyone deserve a chance to make amends and get restitution? Clint's blood. Can't never totally get away from blood.

9. someone they would like to befriend
"A new friend? Because if I can re-befriend someone, Kayla. But…
I'm working on Leo, already. It's a work in progress because I work slow. Gotta get on insta and find what other things we both relate to are.
How about that Clint guy down the street? It seems like he would be a fun guy to swap stories with. He's a recluse, though, and I'm a wallflower. Makes it hard to befriend, but maybe I'll just start to purposefully let Duke loose in his yard so he comes by enough times until we're friends..."

Name: Clint Bennet Age: 35 Gender: Cis Male Sexuality: Bi Demi-sexual (Female leaning) Relationship Status: Single Length of Time in Redwood: 4 months Community Occupation: Outside Security Previous Occupation: Laborer, Security, wherever the money took him
Status: Online/ Offline/ Lurking
In The Drafts:
Bio and headcanons below the cut
Clint grew up in southern Louisiana out in what was considered the sticks. Having an abusive father and an absent mother, he preferred to spend his time out in the wilderness, enjoying the company of gators, raccoons, and whatever other wildlife he shared he space with over that of his family. When he was 10, his older brother of 16 ran off to escape his father’s abuse, leaving Clint to take it all on himself, it didn’t take long before his father gave him a blow to the head at 13 that resulted in his deafness. While it was a hard adjustment to make, Clint was able to adapt by learning lipreading and sign language through his school. At 15 a few DCF calls resulted in Clint being removed from his home and his father’s abuse. A double edged sword, while he was saved from the physical and psychological violence he was also removed from the only sense of normalcy he knew and was instead shifted from foster home to foster home, having no real connection to any extended family nor the families he was homed with. He tried to get away on several occasions, becoming a frequent flyer and a regular face in the town jail to wait to be picked up by the social workers and returned back to whatever foster facility they placed him in. At 18, when he was released from the foster system with with the assistance of the social workers he was able to get his own low income apartment. He was able to support himself through becoming a jack of all trades and a master of none, jumping from job to job ranging everywhere from a construction worker, to a bartender, bouncer, shipyard laborer, anything that could earn him a dollar. He continued with this life through his 20’s and picked up some destructive habits such as alcoholism and drug abuse, he could also tend to be manipulative to those around him, finding it easier to push them away rather than live up to the perceived expectations they had on him, something that followed him from his childhood abuse.
The end of the world happened to be a wake up call for Clint, no only being forced to sober up cold turkey but also his lack of connections could be the end of him. He realized that he wouldn’t survive without the assistance of others, though his time in nature as a kid helped him hunt and survive on a basic level, he became all too aware that the slightest injury without the right supplies or support would eventually lead to his death. He spent the first year trying to survive on his own, until an injury lead him to seek help from a small community, they were kind enough to help, he tried to pay their help back staying with them for a few months, helping defend the community and providing a steady stream of game until the outbreak overtook them too. For the next few years, Clint spent his time jumping between living on his own to gaining support from communities while contributing what he could, sometimes he left on his own accord, but other times his disability was found out and he was ejected from the community, suddenly being seen as a burden and a liability. One such community introduced him to his dog, Luna, who alerts him to sounds he would otherwise not be able to hear, he received her from another member who passed away, she was one of the first that he willingly opened up to and was grateful for his inheritance of Luna. A few months after her passing he was found out again and kicked to the curb.
A half a year, Luna and Clint survived on their own again until they came across Redwood. It was larger than any other establishment he had ever seen, and it seemed much more secure. Figuring he had nothing else to lose he approached the community and turned himself in to be processed, claiming Luna was a pet rather than an asset to him and promising she wouldn’t be a burden at all on the community as he would get her food and needs himself. He was accepted in and given a job as well as the run down cabin on the outskirts that he was able to refurbish to the best of his abilities to a place he and Luna could live in.
Headcanons:
Clint can come off as very open around others but has a tendency to keep people at arms length when it comes to serious topics especially about himself
He masks a lot with sarcasm and humor, a coping mechanism he learned from his childhood. At times, especially if Clint is feeling anxious or unsure how the other will react, it’ll be hard to get a straight answer from him.
Clint is not completely deaf, he is Hard of Hearing (HoH) and can hear pitches of peoples voices and sounds past a certain decibel, if someone is talking softly, he won’t be able to detect their voice, but if he does hear someone talking he’ll normally turn his attention to them in order to read their lips
Reading lips is not an exact science and requires Clint to do a lot of guess work using context clues. Sometimes he’ll mess up or need to ask for clarification if he’s unable to fill in the blanks himself.
If someone is speaking to him, he needs to look directly at them in order to understand them.
If Clint gets drunk, he has a harder time understanding what other people are saying even if he focuses hard on their lips, usually in those situations he just gets quiet.
Luna alerts Clint to nearby sounds by pressing her nose against his leg and facing towards where the sound is coming from.
He has gotten pretty good at hiding his struggle with hearing, and unless someone figures it out or if he feels close enough to someone to open up to them about it, he’d rather keep the struggle to himself for fear of how they would react and how it would affect his place in the community.
For those that Clint cares about, he’s extremely loyal to them and protective. He would do anything for the happiness and safety of those he loves.
Though Clint isn’t super educated, not being able to achieve a high school diploma, he’s very witty, has great street smarts, and is quick on his feet, adapting quickly to changes in situations and coming up with plans to overcome challenges. Many people’s first impressions of him are that he’s aloof and messy in the head, which he doesn’t mind people thinking, but he spends a lot of time observing his surroundings and the people in it.

layla shrugs, sipping at her cocktail. she learnt over time as a bartender to compartmentalise sounds, focus on what her customers were ordering rather than the ruckus going on around here by rowdy patrons. she didn't think the reef or the four leaf was worse than the other in regards to this, it just depended on the week. "people see tourist towns as exactly that." at least that's the observation she was sticking with, slowly rotating the drink in her hand so the liquor continued to mix, "they don't register that people actually live here full time. they just cause a mess, then leave."
@clint-bennet
When the bartender placed the whiskey in front of him, Clint gave a nod of thanks and took a sip, hardly noticing the other that took a seat at the bar a few seats down. There was a moment of quiet he could enjoy before an explosion of noise nearly sent his shoulders up to his ears. Glancing back to see what the ruckus was he gets a view of the other who recently joined the space with him. It seemed to get her attention too, but she didn't appear as bothered by it as he was as he drew his attention back to the mirrored wall behind the bottles. "Why's it always gotta be th' fuckin' late comers actin' like they ain't got any sense?" He questions before taking his hearing aid out and shoving it in his pocket, giving himself that relief that he desperately needed. He could still hear them, but the sound was much duller now, muffled like his head was underwater, and best of all he couldn't understand whatever stupid shit they were talking about.

Pitch for a video game: “Marvel’s Hawkeye”, a co-op game developed by Hazelight Studios (It Takes Two, A Way Out)
At the start menu, the two players are presented with this choice:
1) Clint Barton and Derek Bishop
2) Kate Bishop and Nicole Barton
In a standalone Marvel universe, Clint Barton is a famous circus performer under the name “The Hawkeye”. Alongside his daughter/protege, Nicole Barton, the two are known for dazzling audiences with their death-defying archery stunts. Also existing in this world is Kate Bishop, an Olympian athlete who won the gold medal in archery. She was trained by her father, Derek Bishop.
At the start, Player 1 and 2 control two different pairs; Clint and Nicole, Kate and Derek. This is to set up the tragedy that kicks off the game’s main story. While performing at one of their shows, Nicole Barton is killed when a bomb goes off in the audience. Around the same time, Derek Bishop is gunned down while driving his daughter home from the gym.
Five years then pass.
Clint Barton is now a depressed wreck, retired from the circus in order to focus solely on finding who was responsible for his daughter’s death. Kate Bishop has become a ruthless vigilante (along the lines of Ronin) who is also thirsty for revenge. The two follow a lead on their respective loved one’s murder, causing them to cross paths. Although they don’t trust each other at first, Clint and Kate decide to join forces when they realize that they’re both after the same, mysterious villain.
And that’s where the main game begins. Clint and Kate have to work as a team to avenge their loved ones. As the game goes on, the two form a father figure-daughter figure relationship, which helps them heal from their past trauma.
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
* In case the set-up is confusing, there are two playable pairs (Clint and Nicole, Kate and Derek). The point is that both players will end up losing a character since whoever is playing as Clint will die as Derek, and whoever is playing as Kate will die as Nicole. So when Clint and Kate join forces, both players will have felt some level of loss.
* Nicole Barton is based on the Ultimate Marvel comics
* The main villain is revealed to be Kagenobu Yoshioka, a high-ranking crime boss who runs Japan’s most powerful Yakuza syndicate known as “The Hand” (Netflix Marvel, anyone?). Nicole Barton’s death was accidental since the Hand meant to kill someone in the audience. Derek Bishop was killed since he had massive debts with the Hand.
* The secondary villain is Bullseye, who is Nobu’s lead assassin and the one who carried out Derek’s murder and the explosion that killed Nicole.
* While it’d be neat to have Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld reprise their roles, if I had to recast, I’d have Jeffrey Pierce (Tommy Miller, The Last of Us) as Clint Barton and Chloe Bennet (Daisy Johnson, Agents of SHIELD) as Kate Bishop.
* Just like “It Takes Two” and “A Way Out”, there are tons of co-op minigames that the players can do. Since this is an archery-centric game, there should be minigames like darts and cornhole.
* Other Marvel characters do show up, but only as either cameos or guest appearances. Characters who I’d include for sure: Black Widow, Daredevil, Mockingbird, Elektra Natchios, The Punisher
