that scene in the anime, steins final battle against Medusa, when he comes face to face w Marie and he hides his face in a childlike way, retreating inward and finding less solace within himself even in contrast to the death and turmoil around him
yeah that's the scene
that moment means so much to me

Actually, nah. I've recently changed my mind. Blacklisting tcest is clearly not enough in this fandom. I have to do HARD BLOCKING to get those repulsive, violating dipshits off my blog.
#[in the voice of that one vine] you better watch out. you better watch out! you better watch out!! YOU BETTER WATCH OUT!!!-#btw i've blocked half a fandom before to be comfortable#and i'd do it again. don't test me#but i am being serious when i say that i cannot stomach others violating my clear boundaries#it's gotten to the point where enough is enough#so blocking will be more of a thing now!#don't wanna get caught up in it? easy solution: don't be a tcester!#esp one who engages with my stuff#if you're curious i judge based on direct evidence of creation of or engagement with tcest content#(the sort that is unable to be read as innocuous)#not by the 'so-and-so said X is a tcester' rumor mill crap#i know parts of the fandom love to lie about others so i will only be trusting these eyes of mine and nothing else#tcest mention#sky sez

Stage 2 Anger... just for entering the scene?
Man I haven't done art in a while...
I know I also said before that I was playing TGAA2, but I couldn't help myself (Athena is so precious to me)
(The state of the Mood Matrix is actually based on one of SoJ's sequences, by the way!)
#art folder#sketch#ace attorney#athena cykes#mood matrix#turnabout storyteller#<- technically?#I definitely exaggerated on some of the proportions#It's fine though#Also HC Mood Matrix design!#Based on the in-game UI with a little more flair#in the form of the squares to indicate the emotion's intensity#ik the pulsing already does that#but it's nice to be extra clear sometimes#also it has a “window mode” so that she can see through it and look at the witness#the mental image recreation is still there but it's toggleable#.........#[looks at the amount of HC tags]#[SIGH]#I guess a text post is in order at some point#eagerly awaiting the return to the Sky Deck#OR... feel free to drop in some asks!

how the fuck did clear sky get into cat heaven. he literally:
-killed multiple cats (or attempted to)
-disrespected starclan (the whole drown the stars in blood thing)
-try to start a whole war
-threw out his crippled brother
-tried to kill bumble (later the god of speech)
-and a dozen more that i can’t think off the top of my head.
it would be cool for an au possibly where one-eye dies but never forms the dark forest (like he doesn’t believe in religion thus never makes cat hell) and instead clear sky is the first one dammed and the first cat to walk the dark forest. this could be a great set up for later arcs where maybe in the distant future we see the dark forest fighting starclan (again) but this time it’s not tigerstar and firestar, it’s clear sky and gray wing
StarClan is flawed from its inception. It's the ancestors of all Clan cats, not just the ones from the Forest Four.
And that included Clear Sky, founder of SkyClan, cat who invented and established borders and war tactics. It's him and his followers who set the battle culture of the Clans that would come after, a snowball that would only grow larger and larger until it reached the state we see in TPB.
StarClan is the way that it is because of him. Him and cats like him are what encouraged StarClan to develop into the reactionary, self-righteous entity that it is, doing what they believe is right to 'protect' the Clans while still thinking their ego is something that must be coddled.
#cripple#cripple slur#c slur#Also the entire battle is full of moments where Clear Sky doubles down on his violence#'I'm not greedy I'm just strong' ass#Also StarClan looking at Tall Shadow 'um this is partially your fault' die. just die again StarClan#Haven't even been around for 2 seconds and already victim blaming#'oo aa how did you know that fircone was going to kill thunder' she made an educated guess.#based on all the murder happening

I know someone said it already but it's truly insane to me how quickly gomens2 devolved fans into tjlc-levels of unwell
#i skimmed the first bit of that 16k doc about how ngaiman is a Good Writer Actually in respect to gomens2 and. well#i mean. they could be right. in the way that tjlc could be right in that theoretically it's not impossible#but people arent meant to analyze shows this much. it's meant as a season 2 to a moderately popular s1 which was based of a beloved book#it's not meant to be full of prestige. it's a tv show#are there themes? sure! are there hidden details? sure!#is the writing bad On Purpose? probably not. why would you fumble the ball so hard when you're not guaranteed s3 to clear your name-#-and show the prestige.#idk i havent seen s2 I'm not gonna watch it but like. ngaiman is normally a good writer. but he is also fallible#<- dont come at me for this. i've liked some of his novels and disliked others and am not speaking to him as a person merely his pubbed work#anyways. sorry if you see this ? just got mad at people for not believing that some things can just be bad. and it can suck! but no one-#-is infallible as a writer. and sometimes the team making a show is gonna change the color of the sky because they forgot what it used to be

there’s stuff i’m actually mad about re: tumblr rn and the MAIN one that pisses me off is the prev tags chain thing. like even before ‘prev tags’ took off and became a hot topic it was still common to just click back through to see other people’s tags. and while there is now a way to click back through to OPs post or the previous post by clicking the right part of the post, you can’t then go back to the blog BEFORE that one. which fucking sucks (actually i haven’t updated the app since this started and i’m using xkit on desktop so idek what state this is all in rn)
but anyway i don’t even hate it as much as other things it just makes me the angriest bc there is NO reason for it, and no reason not to listen to the userbase and switch it back. and it frustrates me when i see complaints about it on staff posts right next to complaints about tumblr live bc like… you know that’s never gonna change right?? obviously no one uses tumblr live, everyone wants to be able to turn it off permanently and not have to snooze it every week - but given all of that, i think it’s pretty clear that it’s executive-level decisions that tumblr is being made to implement?? like, the fact that there is a “snooze” option at all, to ME, says “we know none of you want this so this is how we compromised”
and similarly the fucking new viewer for pictures/gifs (why anyone thought it was a good idea to include images and gifs in this rather than just videos, i don’t know). that’s probably what i hate the most but i can see why there is pressure to do something like this and i don’t think feedback is going to make a difference. the reblog chains thing just fucking baffles me and i hate that they haven’t listened on that one - they did with the marketplace icon!!!
#such mixed feelings about this stuff bc like i so hate a lot of it and want to make that clear#but at the same time it’s like. well they do need to make money#not in a kiss ass way like omg the company needs moneyyyyyy#but like a website is run by employees. who need to be paid.#we can complain about staff all we want but they’re not gonna get any better if there’s not enough money to pay them#like ‘haha the site isn’t profitable’ is a funnie joke but literally a site needs to make money to stay online.#this is NOT me being like ummmm tumblr is a good egg and you should give them your money 🥺#i’m just like well idc if this site does some annoying shit if it means they don’t go fully offline#like the marketplace thing… yes it’s annoying and the marketing blog is weird#no i would never by tumblr merch#do i care that they are selling merch??? not really!!!#however i DO care - and this always rubbed me the wrong way since they first started selling shoelaces and color of the sky stuff#- that they are selling things based on posts. like that is content by your users that you are making money off of#just sell the stupid tumblr logo stuff it’s fine#r.txt

see the thing about clear sky that drives me in fucking sane is that it's impossible to separate his likability from his character. like. it is through a LOT of charisma and ability to find what motivates the new cats (from fear to pride to dreams of conquering one's enemies) to fight and die for him. he is extremely charismatic, even when he's being horrible. in fact, it you cannot divorce his terribleness from his charisma. there is something about him that makes other cats do many things for his approval, which he knowingly uses to his advantage. im obsessed with him and i need him dead (at the same time)
case in point: his scolding woud have much less effect on jagged peak if the latter didn't look up to him so much.
#i don't know which brotherly relationship is more interesting#i certainly know that jagged peak's and gray wing's infuriates me the most#but as for the other two i guess it isn't the point to rank them#it's kind of heartbreaking to see jagged peak look up to his brother so much#and most of that is based off of how capable clear sky is#and later he's kicked out by the very cat he admires#with the double-punch that it's because clear sky says he's “not capable anymore”#dotc#warriors dotc#warrior cats#jagged peak#clear sky#reread

I think one of my most achievable goals in life is to see a UFO
#my grandma and my mum both saw one#this was like ten years ago. they were out walking kim and they saw a light in the sky#this was in like the middle of the day so they thought they were seeing a search and rescue helicopter or something like that#(REALLY common in my hometown because so many people get stranded on parts of the beach or fall off cliffs etc#NO ONE takes the north sea as seriously as it needs to be taken)#but they kept looking at it and realised it was just three lights close together and they weren’t blinking or anything#and then it just shot off and vanished. faster than anything should be able to move#and completely soundlessly#APPARENTLY kim (dog) looked up at the sky and made a noise that sounded like ‘oh!’#so even the dog got to see a ufo. i didn’t though#this is the thing though. i do live in one of the ufo capitals of the uk#i think it’s partly because the sky is so clear that people can see stuff they wouldn’t normally see; and partly there are several RAF bases#close by. also there are a lot of kite enthusiasts and such. and the search and rescue helicopters#i think tourists come from light-polluted places and don’t understand what they’re seeing in our skies. but 99% of the time#it is just normal planes. i can’t explain what my mum and grandma (and kim) saw though#i don’t know any plane that would be able to hover like that and then shoot off and vanish completely soundlessly#i want to see a ufo!! show me a ufo#personal

So, as of the latest time I've updated my video card drivers, the screen capture utility I've been using for ages is suddenly once again able to actually capture my screen properly in games such as No Man's Sky. There was a process by which I could force a screen capture prior to this, but it involved hitting the screenshot hotkey, toggling out of and then back into the game, and then screenshotting a second time. This process would get the second capture to be a largely unprocessed version of the screen; the toggling seemed to force the screen at the time of toggling out into a buffer that the screen capture software could then see and read from (the first screen capture is whatever was on screen the previous time you toggled, but if you don't create it the buffering doesn't seem to occur). This was not exactly a rapid process, and the image quality also wasn't noticeably any better than the game's in-built screenshot tool. It's only real benefit was that it preserved the in-galaxy address displayed in the lower left corner, so prior to this I only used it when grabbing shots of things like starships or particularly interesting multitools.
So I've now gone from only being able to get jagged low-quality screenshots that don't have things like anti-aliasing happening, to actual decent quality screenshots, with just one capture and no toggling required. You can see the very distinct difference this makes in image quality between the first two pictures shown here.
Which of course meant I had to run around my current WIP base and take good-quality screenshots of it to show off :D
This is a semi-randomly placed base on an ice planet; I found one of those spots with a base computer in the middle of a large flat area (legacy of back when bases could only be built in specific locations and were one per save, I believe - which was before my time so that's based off of old forum posts). There were a few cave mouths in the hillsides bordering the flat area, including one particularly round one that had a very strong "that's a mine entrance" vibe to me from the way it was set into a recessed slope.
I'd been thinking of doing an on-planet frostwort farm instead of making a big gardening area for them on my freighter, because harvesting from biodomes is more plants gathered at a time (7-8 instead of 4, though they are more spread out). I decided yeah, this would be a fun place to build something (despite its lack of a power hotspot or resource node nearby) and hence ended up with this small mining-town-inspired base.
It has three mine entrances (01 is the original mine-like location), a biodome structure, starship pad with adjoining structure, a bar, powerhouse, etc. One of the caves behind the mine entrances (03) is small and very pretty with a skylight opening over top so it gets good light, and I ended up deciding to plunk my portal in there, which looks great and is only mildly dangerous when the scant handful of toxic plants have regenerated (I can live with that).
Still need to dress the interiors of a couple of the buildings, and possibly build some more of them. Have been having fun working on it for a couple of days already.
#No Man's Sky#Yet more building of bases#Frostwort Mines#Hrmm... actually I probably could fill the largest cave (02) with plants#Though it has an annoying amount of the toxic fungus to clear out regularly#...I could probably fix that with some strategically placed floor tiles

One of my all time biggest pet peeves with historical(ish) fantasy is when the writer constructs a religion with a clear bias that it's stupid and false and therefore only the Stupid People and/or commoners believe in it and all the smart/elite main characters are like, quasi-atheists or otherwise just routinely flout established religious conventions of orthodoxy and/or orthopraxy because they're Too Smart for it or etc.
It's usually an extension of assumptions that people in the past were just less intelligent than in the contemporary, just being like "I know that the sun is a star millions of miles away that the earth orbits, but this ancient religion describes it as a chariot flying through the sky" and not really bothering to learn the context and just (consciously or subconsciously) settling on 'that's a crazy thing to think and was probably believed in because they were Stupid'.
And that whole attitude pisses me off so much. People were as 'smart' 10,000 years ago as they are today. These beliefs aren't just desperate, random flailing to explain phenomena that could not directly be accounted for either, it's not like people just looked at the sun and went "Uhhh I don't know what the fuck that thing is, actually. I guess it might be a chariot or a boat or something?? Yeah let's go with that." and based entire religious practices on this. Every well-established belief system exists within broader contexts of cultural values/subjective perceptions of reality/knowledge systems/etc, and exist as part of a historical continuum of religious practices that came before. Even when not Materially Correct, they have context and internal logic, they're not always dead literal with zero levels of allegory, and they're never a result of stupidity.
#I think you're failing at good worldbuilding and also just like. Idk failing at being an understanding human being willing to learn about#people different from yourself when you approach writing religion from a 'uhhhh what's some random stupid shit people believed in#2000 years ago' angle#Like make an effort to understand the logic and worldviews and value systems that informed these practices before you synthesize your own
