I did my first ever original Game Boy mod! It's got a secret!

There's a USB-C charging port for a rechargeable battery!

The main feature of course is the backlit screen. It uses the original GB LCD so it's mostly stock unlike my GBC mods that replace the LCD with a modern laminated phone screen.

To do that you have to take a razor and peel apart the layers of the LCD. It's TERRIFYING! Just look at those pics from the tutorial I followed. You have to do that while not breaking 2 ribbon cables!

It's also got a "bivert" mod to enhance the contrast. That involves soldering a new chip to the motherboard that inverts the screen, then the new polarizing filter that you used with the backlight re-inverts it. Somehow that makes everything look better. It's magic.
