- The tallest of Equestria’s pony races, Earth Pony’s are a proud folk with sturdy legs, thick necks, and classic horse-like ears.

- Earth Ponies most commonly wear their names + tails up and/or short, with long, loose hair typically reserved for foals and the elderly. - Leg wraps are worn by all the pony races, meant to protect from placing too much stress on delicate tendons/ligaments during strenuous activity. However, Earth Ponies are the only race who wear them for commonplace reasons, like decoration, as well. (Editors note: basically, earth ponies wear them as a fashion statement or while their out and about. Kind of like wearing a hat)

- While technically magicless, Earth Ponies are deeply connected to the earth. Most Earth Ponies are able to sense sick, or unhealthy, natural areas on sim level.

- Similarly, Earth Ponies are the most intuitive Pony-Race, the majority possessing an incredibly well developed ‘sixth sense’. As a result, Earth Ponies are typically the most attuned to dangerous situations, emotions, and nature. - It’s important to note that ‘Pinkie Sense’ is an abnormally strong variation of this sixth sense, and as thus is almost entirely unheard of. While the reasons for the development of such a strong sense is unknown, it could be indicative of a powerful magical lineage.

Doctor/Jamie - Would You Fall In Love With Me Again

Soul Blending and Kiriona:

So one meta conversation that comes up a lot after Nona is the unanswered question of whether Kiriona really is Gideon, whether she is a reduced form of Gideon, or what have you. Personally, prior to finally getting the paperback edition of Nona and the uninvited guest with it, I always leaned towards Kiriona largely being Gideon unaltered. Her being a lot meaner in Nona was just a product of it being from Nona's pov and Gideon being the only person who disliked Nona.

Now that I actually can read the uninvited guest though I have to say I have revised my assumptions, because I think it's clear that Kiriona is Gideon, but crucially there's also a little bit of Harrow thrown into the mix now. Like what big differences are there in personality between kiriona and Gideon? She's a lot meaner, a lot more prone to lashing out at people she should be close to, she's a lot sadder, and she's a lot more secretive. All of those things could be explained at least somewhat if the part of Gideon's soul that Harrow ate was replaced by some of harrows own soul.

The lashing out thing is a classic harrow defense mechanism. Think back to the "I don't even remember about you most of the time" lines from GtN. Those were pointless self destructive lies that directly worked against Harrow's immediate and long term goals purely to hurt Gideon. We see a similar dynamic with Ortus only more measured.

The sadness is obviously also a product of trauma, but I think it's manifestation is very harrow like. Gideon is not otherwise the type to decide to on some level devote herself to Jod in despair at her situation. That's actually what harrow did in HtN. We know what Gideon's own despair looked like in the window between harrows dirty trick and becoming a cavalier, and it's intense bedrotting.

The biggest thing though I have to say is the secrecy. I know that in GtN Gideon reflexively fell back on secrecy for comfort in various scenes, but in Nona one core thing is that Kiriona is reflexively lying about and hiding her real motivations. Which to me seem very specifically focused in on trying to get Harrow back, but she doesn't ever directly say that. It just comes out in little things like begging Nona to know where Harrow is, even if she's in hell, it just matters that she knows. This is actually probably the biggest shift between Gideon and Kiriona given how in GtN it was gideon who wanted harrow to be more open with Cam and Pal. I think that a gideon who hadn't been flavor twisted with Harrow would have been open about her main motivation being getting harrow back, atleast to the sixth.
