Came across the purest distillation of when games meet real politics.

Cities Skylines 2 recently updated where the developers ‘fixed’ the ‘high rent issue’ by removing landlords from the game and changing how rent is calculated.

Which is kinda antithetical to the whole realistic city building sim vibe they’re going for. Devs shouldn’t be duck out because they managed to simulate capitalism too closely.

I love cities skylines (1) so much. They have this DLC for the stock market, where you can invest in your cities industries from the city's budget to allow the industries to prosper and make more money. When the industries do well, you all benefit. When they fail, you all lose money. Jobs affected, layoffs, etc. very very cool dlc, makes the industries even more fun to interact with and all that. Except one thing. There's this glaring exploit that idk if it just snuck through QA or if people just thought it was realistic, but basically... You are in charge of the very industries you're investing in. You can completely abuse the game to make as much money as possible. For example, I could ban gas vehicles and require all citizens to ride bikes everywhere. This would TANK the mining industry, and make stock super cheap because it's doing poorly. Then I can buy a ton of stock in it for dirt cheap, then suddenly ban bicycles and public transportation and make people only use cars anywhere. Suddenly, the mining industry is exploding and I can make millions. This only takes like 10 in game years, which depending on speed played at is like 3 real life minutes.

The game just lets you be corrupt. And you never see punishment for this.

Where's that post about Kojima being very anti-war but also having to admit that guns and tanks and other types of military hardware are very cool? I need that but replace Kojima with "Cities: Skylines players" and war/military hardware with "car centric infrastructure".

yknow I always loved the little extra flavour you put in for each of the origin characters and how they see stuff in the world and for some reason I ended up getting infected too and start headcanon 😅 like for some reason I feel like some captains wouldn't care more about the argument until the physical side happened since they know aunt Hesei was a victim. And i feel like some of em kinda like tried teaching themselves on like how to handle abuse cause I'm pretty sure they must've handled cases like those before. Like they wouldn't go haywire perse but more off put and uncomfortable. Your choices are very diverse and I like that. It's like your brain has a map of like a fuck ton of converging train routes like if it was a country it would have very good public transportation. Good job socks with sandals dude 👌

And, just so you know, those were not sandals. Those were home slippers, okay? Ones I use at home. Inside. I will forever be defensive about that smh.

Okay sometimes I go out to the corner shop in pajamas but at least I put on proper shoes...
