So, I’m curious: Have you considered the families of any characters in your AUs? Like, do the twins have their parents in their lives? Do they live in town? Does Cross have siblings? What’s Cilan’s relationship with his brothers like? (I think they’re brothers. It’s been a while since I’ve played B&W.)

I haven't put much thought into that yet, no.

The twins are full grown independent adults and don't live tooo closeley with the rest of their family. They seem like the sort of people who definitely have family in their lives and visit them here and there but are most of the time too busy with their own lives to do so.

Now Cross is an interesting one because he absolutely should have family, right? The Mob family and all that. I just haven't really gotten around to thinking about it but yeah he should have his family close.

Cilan for sure has his brothers close to him. And yeah why not, they'd be punk af too. Chilli going all in on the punk mentality while Cress has the punk rock metality, the dyed hair but keeps his clothes low profile. I think he'd be a sneaky kind of punk. The triplets are close and influence each other a lot.

Been listing to my playlist for the canon characters while working on background pages for this blog (once again, highly recommend making playlists for your AUs. Works great as a motivation thing to just turn it on and get in the vibe) and figured I should throw some songs out I haven’t posted yet. So just some random characters songs from the list.

Morty

November Corrosion by Ashbury Heights - This is very much me channeling how Morty has more in common with Lonan than I tend to talk about. Lonan’s visions and sleep issues aren’t from being a Faller after all, he gets it from his dad. To me, this song is about Morty’s visions and also how, in some sense, Morty has a curse that follows him around. Not in a literal sense but there’s a lingering something there. I’ve alluded to this before, that it’s something about Morty that brings misfortune to the family, but it’s related to his affinity for ghosts combined with his clairvoyance. Attracts things. But I also like the “embrace the break of day” line that repeats in this song despite the dour lyrics throughout the rest of it. Cause that’s how I see Morty approaching things. Tries to move forward and not let hardships drag him down. Again, Lonan and Morty are fairly similar in how they deal with situations (something something even without memories of his parents, Lonan still carries parts of them around with him).

Cilan

Masque by Ashbury Heights - Very much related to him being part of the Shadow Triad and raised by Ghetsis. And all the baggage that brings him. My take on Cilan is while Chili is probably the most well adjusted of the brothers and Cress is the least well adjusted (but just kinda embraces and runs with it), Cilan is about as ill-adjusted as Cress but hides it much better. Comes across as a normal dude but if he ever flipped…he’s still got that Shadow Triad edge in him.

Settle For Satin by Alkaline Trio - Another Shadow Triad themed song. Really just this and the previous song are a good tell on how I tend to characterize Cilan. My unconventional take on his true personality.

Coco Jamboo by Mr. President - Ending with something light hearted! Really just this song is a vibe for Tierno to me, vs the lyrics fitting super well. The main chorus as least fits him I feel.

Hunter’s Pokémon journey part 26.

2 years later after playing Pokémon black, me and my 3 Pokémon, Serperior, Victini & Reshiram got news that we were gonna return to Unova in Pokémon black 2, which takes place 2 years later after what happened in Pokémon black. I arrived at Aspertia City, where Bianca allowed me to choose my starter Pokémon since I came back in 2 years. I had to pick either Oshawott, Tepig or Snivy. I knew I already chose Snivy 2 years ago, so I decided to choose Tepig. Tepig was so happy, he licked my cheek and it tickled. I even tried out the Pokémon dream radar, invented by Professor Burnet, which allowed me to catch Pokémon in dream balls with their hidden abilities. Some Pokémon I got are Riolu, Igglybuff, Sigilyph, Munna, Bronzor, Drifloon, Spiritomb, Staryu, Togepi, Porygon, you name it. I even caught Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus! The 3 legendary Pokémon were each in a specific appearance called Therian Forme. I even used the dream radar to catch Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Lugia and Ho-Oh! Then I got Beldum, Hoothoot and Slowpoke in it. I transferred them and various items to my Pokémon black 2 game. Tepig made so many new friends. Then I got a package that had a parachute. It fell from a cargo plane flying overhead, and that plane was piloted by Skyla. The package said “To: Hunter. From: Skyla. Welcome back to Unova!” Inside were 3 cherish balls. And inside them were 3 awesome mythical Pokémon! They were known as Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect! Serperior and Reshiram were still holding the chill drive and the douse drive. And that’s when I realized what they were for. They were used for Genesect to change its Techno Blast, which is a normal type attack into an ice type attack and a water type attack. My Unova Pokédex was upgraded with more Pokémon that can be found in the Unova region. And I caught some such as Psyduck, Sunkern, Mareep and Azurill. After getting so many cool Pokémon, I went back to Aspertia City to battle the first gym leader. To my surprise it was my old pal Cheren, who was my rival 2 years ago. Now he’s the new normal type gym leader. He said Lenora, Brycen, Cilan, Chili and Cress were no longer gym leaders. I understood and Cheren and I had our Pokémon battle. I managed to win and I earned the basic badge. My Pokémon and I were very excited that my brand new journey through Unova has begun and we really hoped it will be more exciting than my previous journey in Unova 2 years ago.

Ash

\ Omega but has the temper, mindset and fangs of an alpha. He mellows out when he gets older but people still thinks he’s an omega. Even if he has paperwork to present otherwise it takes a while of convincing whoever still, it’s that fucked up.

\ major growing pains as he mom is also an Omega and has the gene for short fangs. So Ash’s body is naturally expecting short fangs but instead get the monsters that he has.

\ Pokémon are naturally born to flock towards omega’s for their sweet Berry and citrus scents. This goes for all omegas. If there’s no Omegas then they can chill with the beta’s who have a more flowery almost neutral scent. Bigger and stronger Pokémon treat alpha trainers like fellow Pokemon so it’s also why most of Ash’s Pokémon aren’t afraid to bite him or show off moves by blasting his face with smoke.

\ Ash’s natural scent fucks up people because it’s a sweet vanilla scent with a hit of whiskey and campfire. It hits all three categories for someone’s brain to input either as Omega, Alpha, or Beta and it’s super hard for Ash to hide his scent. It doesn’t really stick to a lot of things, mostly just his hat and Pikachu since they rub cheeks all the time, but it’s there when you’re near him.

Cilan

\ natural Beta. Goes with the flow while Chili is an Alpha and Cress is an Omega. He’s more I trudged by Ash’s scent then anything and it’s like 80% of the reason he decided to ask to join Ash.

\ obviously good at deescalation but can get bitchy if hurt or tired. He’s gone three days once of no proper rest and while Ash was fine and Iris was just starting to noticeable flag, he had enough. Very much nipped everyone’s ass verbally and forced them to start camp in the middle of the day, slept well over 12 hours and refused to talk to anyone before he had his first cup of coffee/tea in the morning.

\ once he’s older he a good stable partner to share heats/ruts with. Very clean and conscious about himself, something he’s picked up from Cress as a child, and will only share himself with those that are equally clean. Over all 100/10 sweet guy and absolutely cherished by the general public of Unova.

Iris

\ feral little Alpha. Tiny ass fangs and is very intimidated by Ash in every sense. Acts bold and childish like a pup would do and both Ash and Cilan knows this. Cilan doesn’t really care of the act but it still rules Ash up for being called a kid and not being taken seriously by people that were only a few months or 3 years older then him. (Cough cough Gary and Misty cough cough)

\ like a young Alpha she seeks approval out a lot and even though she shy’s away from it or boasts herself up, Iris very much appreciates every compliment despite it being said sarcastically or not.

\ weak Alpha voice. Very different from Ash’s natural booming one. She’s still loud for an alpha but not as loud as her vocals could be, it takes a while for her to unlock her natural Alpha growl and tone but that won’t be until we’ll into her late 20’s.

Clara Baxter, Juilet's mother. A single mom and Jerome Horwitz Elementary's new lunch lady (but is secretly a badass with kendoka).

She looks like a stereotypical maid, and acts the part. All polite and calm, unlike her obsessive stalker daughter. Perfect!

Maybe too perfect. We will discover that Clara's career has heretofore not been in the maid field. She is a highly trained Kendoka master. We will learn that her focus is on the kids. An enormous challenge looms in the future for George and Harold.

She is in love with Cash Networth.

I like to imagine that Cilan, Cress, and Chili are somewhere in this AU, just chilling and watching their cousin (yes, Clara is their cousin).

Bio:

The kid from the small town Nuvema Town, soon the Hero of Ideals, chosen by Zekrom, savior of Unova. At least, that's what the people think. While it is true that Alex did save Unova, he does not wear that honor with pride. The journey across Unova was plagued with the pressure of stopping an entire organization, having no choice but to, and being tormented by the death of his pokemon. And to end it all off, his arm was so damaged that it needed to be replaced, no thanks to that man’s Hydregion. So yes, he was a hero. He’s glad that he saved Unova, and managed to get through N to make him see past his own beliefs. By the end of it all he was so, so tired.

He was supposed to recover from literally losing an arm, but between hearing his sister would be leaving to train and heal from her own missing limb in Alola, to the constant images of the bodies that were his pokemon, he took the survivors, Zekrom and left Unova. He couldn’t be there anymore. He just couldn’t just be there, as tired as he was. Though, as it turns out, leaving Unova without telling anyone and with a missing arm, and lack of self-preservation left the kid in a poor state- so poor that Zekrom forced him to land. Conveniently, they landed in Lake Verity, which caught the attention of the Sinnoh Champion, Danica Yamamoto. With her help and others, he was able to properly recover, gaining a prosthetic arm. However, the trauma of what happened did not easily go away, chaining him down with nightmares and crippling self doubt.

Alexis stayed in Sinnoh for two years, occasionally learning about its history from its residents, before sensing something…off, back in Unova. He doesn’t know how he would sense such a thing, a feat that only Zekrom could feel. Nonetheless, the feeling was urgent, and as much as he still wishes to avoid his home, after not being in contact with them for so long, he wouldn’t shake the feeling away. So he went back to Unova, Zekrom as his guide to Giant Chasm where he was surprised to see some familiar faces and some unknown ones. Elliot, his sister. N, his….friend? Two young trainers that looked so scared yet so resilient. Ghetsis. Then and there he felt the need to run- to run away again so he doesn’t have to deal with whatever is going on. But he stayed. He stayed and fought and soon he’s being yelled at by his sister, then by Cheren and soon he’s just enveloped into a giant hug by his friends and his family and-

The rest is a blur. Sometimes he felt something. Sometimes he didn’t. For a while, he and Cheren wouldn’t talk to each other. Bianca too, but they talked. He got a job at the daycare, two years after. He loves that. The nightmares don’t stop. He doesn’t sing anymore. At least he tries to.

The next thing he knows he’s on a plane trip to Galar, his sister talking to him about the sights, the music and this “gym challenge” or whatever. He hopes that she doesn’t plan on participating. This is supposed to be their vacation after all. Well, her vacation, Alexis was dragged along for the ride. At least they get to see their cousin, Naomi. That should be nice.

so, the Straiaton Gym battle!

for starters, Ash starts the whole thing off by challenging all three Leaders at once, when usually challengers pick to battle either Chili, Cress, or Cilan, which is another thing that really shows just how excited Ash is to be experiencing every single thing about the Unova region. he’s not going to go halfway with his very first gym battle in the region, he wants to have the most high-intensity battle possible! so of course he challenges all of them, to see what they and their Pokémon are like.

Once the battle starts, he picks Tepig! he says that this is because he promised Tepig that it’d be his first pick in his first gym battle (you kinda get the feeling that some stuff happened off-screen with Tepig, both because of this and because later in bw006 Ash mentions meeting Accumula Town’s Joy, which is not something that happened onscreen). So I feel like, right off the bat, this battle (being Ash’s first formal battle in the region) is really making sure to re-establish a lot of Ash’s usual battle traits like choosing Pokémon for personal reasons rather than for stuff like type advantage.

similarly, Tepig’s battle with Pansear re-establishes Ash’s general battle style, being extremely crafty and making good use of both the opponent’s Pokémon’s missteps and the terrain. I wanna say that this is specifically indicative of Ash’s battle style post-DP, making use of some of the Contest strategies he picked up from Dawn, but I’ve also realized I remember almost nothing of his battle style pre-DP so I can’t actually say for sure. But I definitely feel like grabbing Pansear’s tail and swinging it was a very contest move.

And then after Tepig wins he pets it and it’s cute :) . he also specifically calls Tepig “persistent” which is really fitting given that this is right after Tepig bounced back from being half-starved to death.

and then there’s Pikachu VS Panpour. this one was just kinda sad. I kinda get the feeling that, despite acting otherwise, the initial loss against Trip and the whole Zekrom fiasco really threw both of them off and out of sync, battle-wise. like they just seem to be having a hard time keeping it together, and it’s specifically a them problem because Ash battles just fine with the others.

then the last match is Oshawott VS Pansage, and it did take me a minute to figure out why he’d specifically chose Oshawott for this one but then I got it. I think he was trying to boost Oshawott’s confidence — he knows that Oshawott is strong and can be quite brave (there’s a flashback to when Oshawott saved Pikachu and Axew from Team Rocket after these screencaps), and that Oshawott just needs some motivation to be able to consistently draw on that bravery. (it pays off, but this was a really big gamble… if Oshawott had lost, it not only would’ve been a real hit to its confidence but also probably would have put a strain on Ash and Oshawott’s relationship, given that Oshawott would have lost at what Ash knew was a disadvantage.

Luckily though everything winds up going fine, and Oshawott does get a confidence boost overall because of how successful the ‘blocking attacks with his scalchop’ strategy is. (Something something bond)

So this particular bout winds up the most interesting because Cilan is really talkative during it (probably because he’s just about to become a traveling companion lol). For starters, Cilan has a real attitude right now?? it’s a really far cry from mid-/late-series Cilan who’s really chill. idk if it’s just that this is early series or he just hasn’t gotten character development. It might be the latter since I feel like a lot of his arrogance here comes from treating the gym battle as a show (for the audience of cheerleaders) & the fact that his evaluations probably don’t usually get proven wrong like they do here. Anyways

History

She was born in Lavaridge town, in the Hoenn region. Her biggest inspiration to train fire type Pokemon was the gym leader in that town, Flannery. She’s practically an idol to Helen. When she became a trainer, Professor birch gave her a Charmander instead of a Hoenn starter. Why? Coincidence? I THINK NOT. Charmander and Helen were BFFS. To the end. For 7 years she came back to train with Flannery. Then, she finally decided to travel on her own journey, meet new Pokemon! And friends! Her and her Charmeleon were off, and they’ve traveled to all kinds of places, caught more Pokemon friends, and have battled some of the strongest fire type trainers in the world. Before she was chosen to become the fire type master, she and her Pokemon settled down in Konikoni city for a vacation. That’s when the people came to her for an interview. Her and her Pokemon earned their titles as fire type masters after they defeated the Hoenn region’s champion, Wallace in battle with his water type Pokemon.

Personality: One of the most energetic people you’ll meet, she’s always moving and motivated to keep going in no matter the situation. Even though she’s easy to anger, she’s easy to have simmer down too. All in all, she’s pretty cool and chill, she’ll get along with almost anyone.

Ten Facts About Sage:

She loves to experiment with makeup, especially by using bright and flashy colors.  Glitter is a common addition as well. She generally will either draw “beauty marks” in the shape of stars, hearts, or some other small symbol on her cheek, or use little gel stickers and put them on her cheek instead.

Her and Trish initially bond over makeup.  Trish goes for the more “refined, mature style” over Sage’s eccentric look, but they do enjoy exchanging techniques and doing each other’s makeup when they get together.

Her starter, Panpour, was a gift from Cress for her 11 birthday.  She had specifically asked for a Panpour over any other Pokemon, wanting to match her mother’s Simipour (as she views him as Cress’ ace).

In a way, Chili and Burgundy are more parents to her than her own father, Siebold, is. They were the ones that primarily helped Cress raise her since infancy. She’s not particularly bothered by her parent’s odd relationship and is happy to have such a big family, her cousins being like siblings to her.

She’s a passable cook when she really puts in the effort, but she has no passion for cooking whatsoever.  Siebold tries and tries to get her to appreciate cooking more, but it just doesn’t stick.  She still usually participates and sits through his lessons.  As it’s rare for her to get to spend time with her father in general (since if he’s not busy with Elite Four work, he’s busy managing his restaurants), she takes advantage of whatever chances she gets. 

She has a more traditional big bro/little sis relationship with Mace over her actual olderbrother, as she and Mace like to tease and harass each other in good fun (helped by the fact they’re only about a year apart in age).  With Sorrel, while she might try to tease him, he doesn’t like to tease back.  He takes his overprotective big brother role towards her too seriously, to the point Sage gets annoyed about it. She can protect herself just fine, and in her opinion, he needs to chill out when it comes to his protective streak towards her.

Out of all the Striaton kids, she’s the one that picks up on her mother and uncle’s “ninja techniques” the best.  A large part of this is due to the fact Cress didn’t hold back in teaching her while Cilan and Chili hesitate in teaching their own children certain techniques.  She rarely uses these abilities, mainly keeping them in the back of her mind as a last resort.  Like most people, she has her Pokemon fight for her first if she ever needs to defend herself.

Her and Darcel are childhood friends, being introduced through their fathers (as Siebold worked with Mason for a time).  They made a silly childhood marriage promise, as children sometimes do. While Sage doesn’t think much of it as she ages, Darcel holds on this promise, which feeds into his obsession with her.

Her and Darcel do officially date for a little while in her early teens. It’s only once his true colors come to light that she starts to distance herself from him.  Despite everything, she can’t help but still maintain warm feelings for him, wishing he’d repent and turn over a new leaf (as opposed to her cousins and especially her brother who’d rather he just rot in jail).

While her conception is played off as an accident, Cress was intentionally trying to get pregnant with her, not as a way to trap Siebold, but simply because he really wanted a baby.  Due to his complicated feelings over his son, Sorrel, who he had given up custody of at the time, and being around Chili and Burgundy’s newborn son, he decides he wants a baby he can keep this time. While he genuinely does like Siebold, he was a means to an end.   It was more convenient to use the guy he was already sleeping with than to find some random stranger.  It’s partially Cress’ dishonesty and disregard towards Siebold that causes their relationship to be what it is, as while they try to make things work, there’s always a certain distance between them.  If not for Sage, they likely would have eventually drifted apart completely.

What do you think of the leaders that reigned while you were still Champion?

   “Gym Leaders, I’m supposing.

Chili, Cilan and Cress are a dynamic trio! They’d created a unique and interesting gym that tied-into their passions– which is very good! The three of them are already good, but their potential, even now, knows no bounds! They will always be cooking-up something special, somewhere!

Lenora is a sweetheart! I loved going to get a coffee with her every now and again. Hearing her stories about history and about her own life was just as captivating. Her mind is a museum full of tales! And her battling is pretty good, too!

Burgh is quite admirable, I must say. You often hear about artists moving to the city to make it bug– er, big! But with Burgh, he took that to the next step, becoming Castelia City’s very own gym leader. With a beautiful gym to add to his graceful battling, he’s sure to cause a buzz!

 Elesa is a supermodel, literally and metaphorically. She exudes confidence and knows when the time is right to pose under the spotlight! Her entire person is electrifyingly awesome– perhaps one would be shocked to realize she’s a master battler, as well!

I have a lot of respect for Clay. Humble yet big, bold but not brash! It’s grounding to know someone like him exists and has the drive to push his own passions and plans forwards. Not to be a stick in the mud, but I wasn’t fully on-board with his construction plans at first, but seeing them now, I can admire his dedication!

How did I always know Skyla would soar when it came to her gym? She took-off, and from that moment on, she was a star! She and her Pokemon make an aerodynamic team, and I could only assume so! I’ve also heard that she’s never had any accidents while flying cargo in from other regions– that’s pretty fly!

Brycen’s style is just chilling. He took battling and turned it into an elaborate performance. It wasn’t uncommon for one to get a shiver watching him take-on challengers, and that’s not just because of how cold he keeps the gym! By the way, I heard he liked doing that because it kept him in the moment– I wonder if he does that while acting, too?

Drayden’s always been one to go big or go home, but when Iris was helping him with the gym, the scales were pretty even! The two have the spirits of dragons within them, I’d say. Fierce and protective and powerful! It drakes– ahem, makes sense that one of them would go on to become Champion!”
