A Hetalia Headcannon Fo' Today -

I'd like to think that China has a sphinx cat and NOBODY (not even Japan or Russia) knows how old the thing is. It has so many wrinkles, and hates anybody besides China. The cat has the craziest death stare, and won't let any being clean it besides China, too. It acts like a complete sweetheart to China, but will go bat-shit if not accompanied by them.

This cat is the only pet banned from bring your pet to the meeting day every year (Ever since China tried to sick the cat on America, Lmao.) And China is forced to bring their other pet, a Kunming Wolfdog with a much better (not much better) temper.

Cardverse: A Case Study (that really isn't one.)

Hello gaymers and happy new year! Today we will be revisiting an old official au called Cardverse. Keep in mind that this is going to be an entirely different version of it rather than canon Cardverse, and 90% of it will be just my sorry behind rambling about the wonders and glories of political relations and why IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GO.

🔶Kingdom of Diamonds🔶

Ruler: Our Majesty Francis Bonnefoy, King/Queen of Diamonds; Beside him Prime Minister Erika Vogel and Royal Financial Advisor Vasch Zwingli (spelt his name wrong ik.)

The Kingdom of Diamonds; one of the wealthiest kingdoms in the land with a very turbulent history. Centuries ago, the king and queen upheld the most power (aside from Lords and Aristocrats). This imbalance of power would spark a revolt that would last for decades until a new form of government was put into place. (Not really.)

The Kingdom of Diamonds lies South, known for their very warm climates which contribute to their bountiful crops. They are responsible for 75% of the food distribution to other neighboring kingdoms. They are sometimes subsequently referred to as the "Brighter South" due to the amount of sunshine that contributes to their warm climate. However, they are often hindered by bad storms and monsoons from June until November.

While still under a monarchy, the Diamonds kingdom has it's own prime minister that keeps everything and everyone in check, this includes the king (or queen). Erika and Vasch act as some sort of caretaker for Francis, making sure that he's safe and not frivolously spending his inheritance on useless things such as new land, etc. Some have said that the King/Queen is too incompetent to be ruling a kingdom due to several factors: His emotional sensitivity, him being a people pleaser, and his overly flamboyant nature. Other has praised the king in his efforts in helping improve the lives of his people and his kind nature.

♠️The United Spades♠️

Ruler: Commander in Chief and President Alfred F. Jones; beside him Vice President Arthur Kirkland, and Secretary of State Chun-Yan Wang

From a small monarchy to one of the largest democracies in the land, The United Spades (actual name The United Spades of Aces) holds a lot of power than one may know.

They reside North, having to deal with several harsh winters. The Spades Kingdom has many various industrial sites. Unfortunately because of this, it is said to be the kingdom with the highest recorded rate of pollution.

The birth of the Spade's democracy still remains under debate by some historians. Some may have suggested it had ended after the death of the President's mother, who was said to be the last Queen of what once was the Kingdom of Spades. Others may have concluded that it emerged at the end of some sort of civil war; though these events had coincided with each other. Despite these events, the Spades are relatively young.

While he holds much authority over everyone, Alfred does struggle to keep many things in check; some praise him for his hard work while others criticize him for hurting some aspect of his community.

The Hearts Kingdom resides in the western portion of the lands, also known as the "Western Kingdom" or "The Wild West". Much like the Empire of Clubs, they have a very fair climate. Average to the point where there is not much to comment on.

Not much is known about the Heart's Kingdom or what it's known for. It is rumored that the current queen isn't the real queen, and that something must've happened behind closed doors. Despite Ludwig being king and having the same amount of power, Lucrezia has the most authority over everybody. There is something about her that'll give you an aching feeling in your gut. But who is Sakura?

Ruler: Emperor Ivan Braginsky and Empress Elizabeta Hedevary and Jack of all trades Clubs Roderich Edelstein

The Empire of Clubs lies just to the east, majority of its territory landlocked by mountains and valleys. It's a place where not much goes on, not even among the monarchs who hold the power of the world within their hands. Some travelers from other kingdoms will return with how reserved most of the people are, giving them this quiet reputation.

Although quiet, they are well known for their clean environment and vast green valleys. Because of this they have a very diverse ecosystem and dedicate their fundings to preserving the homes of many species whether by land or by sea. It is even rumored that Ivan has a giant pet polar that was stolen from a neighboring kingdom elsewhere. Although due to the privacy of the royals, this cannot be confirmed nor denied.

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) Masterpost

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) is a Vocal synth (Vocaloid and SynthV) music project. It consists of songs themed around different figures throughout Chinese history. The project is a collaboration between different artists and creatives, with music and videos featuring prominent traditional Chinese elements. The project's title translates to "The Records of Magnificence of the Wangchuan" - In Chinese mythology, "Wangchuan" (or River of Forgetting) is a river in the Underworld that can rid one of their past life's memories, similar to the river Lethe.

A mobile game adaptation has also been developed by NetEast. Unfortunately, I haven't played it so I can't give much insight on it. However, I assume that its premise is similar to that of the idea behind the project as a whole: all these historical figures meeting each other in the Underworld after they died. Maybe.

Allied Forces Human Names (+ my reasons for them)

Here is my take on the human names of the Nyotalia Allied countries.

Mind you that I've not been able to do a very thorough research on on each character, but I've tried to do each one of them justice - and I also included the way their names should be written in their native languages.

Feel free to argue, debate and suggest changes, if you want to. I just tried to get some of my opinions and ideas accross.

Also, a small disclaimer: I imagine human names exist for countries only when they need to pass as regular humans, and they are used by other humans mostly. Countries call each other by their country/nation names, because they identify with them. They also use nicknames and aliases (especially when spying on each other), so it's just something that was constantly changing through the years for some of them. At least, that's my theory.

America - USA - Ameriko

Amelia L. Jones

The eternal question of "Emily" or "Amelia" for Nyotalia fans must be addressed first. "Amelia" is a more English form of a Germanic name "Amalia", the root of which, "amal", translates to "unceasing, vigorous, brave". "Emily", however, is the anglicized version of the "Aemilia", from the Latin genus (family name) of "Aemilius", which is translated to "enemy". The beggining of USA as a country are those of the Anglo-Scottish and Dutch colonisers, so it would historically make more sense for Nyo!America to be called "Amelia" - but there is one more obvious reason for this name: Amelia Earhart. The famous female pilot is certainly someone young country such as Nyo!America would definitely look up to.

As for the mysterious "L." in the name, I wanted to pay homage to both how many American politicians and public figures use their middle names as sole letters in their official names, but also to a lesser known historical figure of Lucretia Mott (nee Coffin). She was a white abolitionist and women's rights activist, back in the 19th century. I thought Nyo!America, who is just as keen on freedom and heroism as her male counterpart, would like to pay homage with her name to someone like Mrs Mott.

With that said, I believe before Amelia and Lucretia, Nyo!America was given various names (especially by Nyo!England, while under her care, and later under various governments); but I would imagine that since 1940s she opted towards making Amelia her official name and it stuck with her.

China - Chugoko (?)

王  春艳 --- Wang Chun-Yan

That's a country that has been using a hell lot of names in her long history - either names inspired by important women from her past like Wu or Xian, but also names that reminded her of some happy memories. Around the time of British and French colonialism knocking on her doorstep, she settled on the name Chun-Yan, written with signs "春" (chūn), meaning "spring" and "艳" (yàn), meaning "beautiful, gorgeous", but also "fascinating". It was meant a bit to be a lucky charm type of name for her, as she wished for rebirth as a fully capable country (and spring is associated with new beginnings in Chinese culture). It stood the test of time under communist revolution, as it correlated with the theme of reforms and she kept it in the current state up to this day.

Obviously there is more than just one Chinese culture and this is why I leave all her possible names and nicknames a mystery - I'm not skilled or knowledgable to make an informed opinion on that. I can only imagine it is one of the most complex characters here and her story deserves more digging into it. I just did the most modern human name option here.

As for nicknames, I can imagine some other countries (*cough* Nyo!America for once *cough*) calling Nyo!China "Mulan", as it's much easier to properly pronounce than "Chunyan", but also because of Disney movies, which fairly enough annoys Nyo!China. That's one more reason why countries prefer to use their country names over the human names.

England - UK - Igiko

Rosamund/Rose Kirkland

No, not Alice. Deal with it. Maybe it was one of her aliases for spying, but the first name Nyo!England ever used for herself was historically "Rosamund" or "Rosamond", which was popularised upon the Norman conquest. Before that, she was a young nation and called herself "Anglia", as that's what people called England at the time. After some time, she tried to differentiate herself from the French, so she began to use name Elizabeth, which the French used as "Isabelle" (and that was how Nyo!France sometimes called her). During the 19th century and the Victorian era in particular, she began using Rose as her name again, inspired by the Victorian floral code and different meanings of different flowers in it (she was quite keen on that btw).

So thus Rosamund finally became Rose, and as you probably know, white and red rose is one of the symbols of the UK as a whole (a.k.a. the Tudor rose and all that history stuff). It makes a lot of sense, when you think about that name in this context.

France - Franiko

Marion/Marie/Manon Bonnefoy

The big sister of Europe, and Nyo!Canada's motherly figure, France happened to grow up earlier than some of her neighbours and thus she adapted the name Mary, or rather Marion in medieval French, after the mother of Jesus Christ. You know, the oldest Catholic country, older than Italian siblings and so on... But since the time is changing and so changes the fashion, she adapted her name to different eras. And so during the renaissance and early baroque she used "Marie", then she swiched to "Marie Anne" or simply "Marianne" under Bourbons and then in revolution, she then used "Mariette" for some time in 19th century, and finally in the most recent times, she began using "Manon", making this a cultural phenomenon as the name got popular shortly after (and she wholeheartedly believes it's her claim to fame).

Btw, one of the theories says the name Mary, depite coming from Hebrew to European languages, is of Egyptian origin and meands something like "love" or "beloved". Quite fitting for Nyo!France, I must admit.

Russia - Kolko/Roshiko

Аня Брагинская --- Anya Braginskaya

Last, but not least, we got Russia and as we started with a young, ambitious nation, we're ending with another relatively young and also quite ambitious nation, which shows in the name. The name "Anne" or "Anna", from which Russian form "Аня" (Anya) comes, is of Hebrew origin, in the form of "Channah" (חַנָּה) meaning "favour, grace". This is a name which is technically a religious one in Russian orthodoxy, although it has been popularised to a degree most people don't even acknowledge it as such. My idea is that under tsarist times she was using "Соня" (Sonya), a Russian diminutive of "София" (Sofiya), meaning "wisdom" from Greek, as this was the name rather popular in medieval and early modern Russian elites, but after the revolution, she would differentiate herself from a typical "kulak" name and started using much more regular name like "Anya" instead.

And no, I don't think she would use "Anastasia" as her name, given how unpopular tsarist family was right after the revolution. I mean, she was likely told to change her name, so it wasn't up to her, and Sonya or Natalya were much more popular among the nobilty around the time of Peter the Great, as that is when I think she first had the need to use a human name.

and so… with watching these dramas.. i found new favorite actors and singers..

and now.. it's a habit of mine to SEARCH youtube every night.. before i sleep [like what i'm doing right now..] of videos of these asian celebrities OUTSIDE of their dramas.. aka… guest shows and variety shows..

and so….. apparently.. yes. I'm a fan.

Taiwanese. he is often confused to be a member of Fahrenheit….. but he's actually a solo artist. uhm…. i dunno what to say about him….. i don't go "ga ga" over him.. i just like him.. and i think he's either my number 1 or number 2 taiwanese celebrity… i'm not too sure who i like more: him and aaron yan..hahahaha

Japanese. OFFICIALLY my favorite japanese boyband… because…. their songs are AWESOME. it's like.. when you hear it you go…. "wow.. it's a nice feeling" kind of thing. hahaha… so anyway.. a LOT of girls [and i mean A LOT] like MatsuJun of Arashi.. but.. meh.. he's OKAAAAY… hahaha.. i mean, he has appeal all right. like… sex appeal. haha… but.. he's okay.. hahaha As for the leader Ohno Satoshi.. he's a GREAT actor. Japanese honestly, when i first saw their poster i was like "they're all ugly" but….. can't deny they have APPEAL.. and they tend to grow on you so now.. In Kat-Tun I like.. Kamenashi Kazuya and Akanishi Jin yep….. they're funny. hahahaha… but yeah.. they're still ugly though.. but i think they're hot. yes, hot. i DID say that….. uhm… yeah..

NEWS -Japanese. ok.. so maybe NOT the whole of news.. just their leader Yamashita Tomohisa… Yamapi.. for short. He's.. COOL. Again, like kame and jin.. when i first heard about him.. i said "I WILL NEVER LIKE HIM!" because my cousin is CRAAAAAAAAZY for him and it's annoying to hear her talk about him 24/7….. but.. after watching one of his shows…. WHOOOOOO. i like him too. hahahaha….. if kame and jin are HOT.. this one is SIZZLING. hahahaha

Japanese. Sadly, this guy has NOT debuted as a singer yet…. stupid company of theirs.. [same company as the other japanese mentioned above] BUT….. he's a GREAT ACTOR. and… i think he's my favorite japanese actor…. because… i don't go "ga ga" over him like the others… ok so maybe i do….. but in a shallow level… instead.. i am ELATED when i watch him. it's a.. different type of fangirlism.. i suppose you could say.. haha.. so yeah.. toma-kun is awesome.

Set amidst the turbulent times in China that saw the end of the rule of Manchu dynasty, the embryonic republic established and then the Japanese invasion, we meet a man (Tony Leung) who lives peacefully in the small town of Foshan until he meets Wing Chun grand master Gong Yutian (Qingxiang Wang) who is looking for a successor. That is the beginning of a journey that will see him become a grand master of the martial art himself, whilst meeting, marrying and surviving! It’s a superb looking film but for me just a little too over-stylised. The combat scenes are creatively choreographed but the use of the slowed-down visual effects didn’t always work. Leung and the director are clearly on the same wavelength, and the story itself is a fascinating look at the rise of one culture through the wreckage of an ancient one. It’s also clear that women too had their place in this society – and it wasn’t always where stereotype might assume. A strong contribution from the adept and nimble Ziyi Zhang (Gong Er) demonstrates that well as battle lines between the old and new, the powerful and the aspirational are drawn and a good old dose of ancient tribal warfare sets up a proud story of heritage, loyalty and skill. Though a little soporifically scored at times, this is an enjoyable mix of history with touch of romance and plenty of action, and is well worth a couple of hours.
