You and Chris found out you were pregnant shortly after you two got home from space.

You two have been dating for a while and got engaged while you guys were in space. You two talked about the future together and kids are in that future.

Chris was beyond excited when he found out he’s going to be a dad. Just as long as you’re the woman pregnant with his baby, that’s all he wants.

The crew congratulating the two of you when they find out.

Chris would go all doctor on you just to make sure everything is fine.

You jokingly saying “Babe, you’re a space doctor, not a baby doctor.”

Chris would buy a plain onesie and get creative and write “Space Baby” with drawings of a bunch of stars, planets, and moons on it.

He would want the baby’s nursery to be space themed and you would want it to be zoo animal themed.

You would buy a plain white t-shirt and creatively write “Space Daddy” on it.

You and Chris coming up with baby names that have something to do with space.

Chris would spend most nights rubbing your baby bump and telling the baby about space.

Chris saying “I love you to the moon and back.” to you and the baby all the time.

You complaining about how fat you look cause of how big your stomach is so Chris says something cute like “Just imagine your belly is a moon and our little star is growing inside of you.” while rubbing his hand against your baby bump.

You not getting much sleep at night sometimes, because the baby is a little too active and Chris has to talk the baby down so you can sleep.

You cry when you feel like you’re bossing Chris around when you ask him for something and he assures you that you’re not being boss.

You sitting in a rocking chair in the corner of the nursery and watching Chris build the crib.

Chris taking time off of work towards the end of your pregnancy and after the baby is born.

Over all, you and Chris can’t wait to hold that little bundle of joy in your arms when he or she is born.

Hiiii Navy hope you had a good holiday. I am curious how either space daddy Chris or the husband Scott would handle reader dealing with the burnout of the holidays and work that is causing reader to become more bratty.

This felt like a long week after the holiday, nonnie! I hope you had a good week. And how would those two deal with it?

So we know our space daddy is a good and loving man. He always finds a way to put you first. He's concerned, of naturally, when he notices you're running on empty. The man isn't just book smart. He knows you better than anyone, so of course he knows something is up.

When you mouth off to him beyond the normal sass that he loves, there's a slight look of disappointment on his face before he smiles. And this isn't his easy or flirty smile. There's something a bit more feral behind it.

The kind of smile that tells you before his mouth moves that you're in for it.

"You wanna try that again, Starlight?"

You lose count of how many orgasms he pulls from you once he gets you to bed, but he smiles that same feral smile when you realize you've soaked the sheets beneath you. Later, you manage to give him a loving smile over your shoulder when he rubs the remaining knots from your back and shoulders, his eyes tender before he winks. He's almost sorry for wearing you out more, but you look at peace with your exhaustion instead of stressed.

Now our devoted husband is similar to Beck in that he's a good and loving man. He does his best to show how much he appreciates you. He also knows that the holidays can be a rough time and mentions more than once that it can be low-key, but you brush him off.

So when you snap a little, even after you see the clench in his jaw as your subtle warning not to push, there's no smile on his face. It's something almost unreadable. Something that makes your thighs rub together.

"Bedroom. Now."

Instead of multiple orgasms, he brings you to the edge over and over. You're wet, trembling, but he pulls back every time. Until you nearly sob how sorry you are. You're just tired between the season and work and you just want one day when you're not stressed. That's when he finally lets you come. A/N: hi! Thank you @natlovesu for requesting this piece, I hope you like it! I am not really used to writing for Chris Beck so this was a first! It turned into some sort of college au, but if this is not what you had in mind I'm happy to redo it :)

You loved studying; you loved learning new things every day. You absolutely adored being able to pursue your interests in an academic setting, and luckily, you were also good at it. Not without sacrifices, all-nighters full of coffee, sweat and tears, of course.

But there was only one thing that you couldn’t stand: Chris Beck.

More precisely, his smirk. Right now you wanted to rip it off his annoyingly cute face.

Because of course, as much as you couldn’t stand him when he was all presumptuous about his academic career, you had to have a crush on him, and you had it since the first year of your degree course, two years ago.

You two had been introduced by a mutual friend, Mark Watney, the first week of classes, and you had been in pretty much the same friend group ever since. You’d usually study all together at a diner next to your university, revising between a hamburger and a smoothie.

Chris was reading his notes out loud, editing them and lecturing your group, and you weren’t really listening. You instead were playing with some fries on your plate, while looking at him and fantasizing about ripping that smirk you hated so much off of his annoyingly cute face.

Yes, because, ever since you met him, you had developed a crush on him, and you desperately wanted to forget about it. But he had such charisma to him, it was almost impossible.

“Earth to Y/N, Earth to Y/N!” Watney interrupted your fantasies, dangling a hand in front of you.

“What Mark?” you glared at him.

“Were you listening to me or do i need to explain it again?”

Chris always did this. There was this rivalry between the two of you, about who was better, and you both were brilliant students. But he always got that one mark more than you, and you couldn’t bear it anymore. You had to do something.

“Oh shut up, like you wouldn’t like it. And then bitch about it forever,” you joked. But seriously, you wouldn’t hear the end of it. It had always been like this. There was this rivalry between the two of you, on who was better, and you both were brilliant students, but he always somehow scored that one mark more than you, and you couldn’t bear it anymore. You had to do something.

“Hey, Beck! I have a proposal for you,” you called him, tossing your fry on the plate. “Next week’s exam. Let’s make a bet.”

“I’m listening”, he put his notebook down, curious about what you were saying.

“If I beat you, and I will beat you, you’ll stop making fun of me. No comments, no remarks. Nothing.”

“And what if I win?” he paused a bit, thinking, and then you saw a lightbulb go off in his head. “You and me. One day, together. You can’t complain about anything.” he smirked at you, extending his hand.

And this certainly would not help you forget your crush about him. But if this is what it took to finally get him to stop boasting about him being smarter than you, then you gladly took the risk.

“Let’s shake on it” you said, nodding. You hoped this deal wouldn’t make things worse, but you didn’t have to worry, because you were so going to win it.

One week later, you found yourself scouring between the results of your exam. You had studied day and night all week, and you were absolutely sure you were going to pass it with the highest mark. Beck next to you, having your same thoughts.

Your heart was thumping in your ears while looking for your ID number, and then you saw your mark: 99/100. That wasn't bad. You were certain Beck couldn’t have done better. You smiled, proud of yourself. You were so going to win this bet.

“Not too fast, Y/L/N,” Beck caught your attention, and you turned to him. He smirked, pointing to his mark., and you followed his gaze on the paper sheet in front of you.

No.

No. No. No.

He got 100.

“See, I told you. I’m the best human-slash-genius” he pointed at himself, all mighty and proud. Ugh, you hated him.

“Brace yourself, Y/L/N. Twenty-four hours starting from” he paused, looking at his watch, “ now. And I'm gonna make sure to be extra-pretentious.” he winked at you.

Oh, you were so fucked.

“So how are we gonna do this?” he asked you. .

“I don’t know. This was your idea. To kidnap me,” you let your bag fall to the ground, while letting yourself plop on the bed.

He brought you back to his dorm room, which he shared with Watney. Unfortunately, Mark had to visit a relative back home, and he would not be back for a couple of days at least.

Leaving you all alone with Mr-Know-It-All over there.

“And what a great idea it was. I’m brilliant!” he put particular emphasis on the last word, observing you to get your reaction.

“Yeah right,” you rolled your eyes “Well, if you excuse me, your highness” you hinted a bow at him, “I need to study” you started taking your notes out of your bag.

“Relax a bit. We still have a month before the next exam.” he sit at his desk in front of you.

“Nope” you popped the p, “I need to get ahead of you because next time, I’m going to make you pay for it. ”

“Oh, come on Y/N/N, let’s go do something fun.”

Turns out, Beck wasn’t that much of an asshole that you thought he was. Yes, he still was a pretentious idiot, but you know he did it on purpose, just to get on your nerves.

In the entire day, you spent together, you actually had fun.

You spent the day at the park, basking in the sun, which was much needed. You didn’t think you’d enjoy this.

Now the both of you were hanging out on a bench. He had even got you an ice cream as a thank you for agreeing to this whole thing with him.

"You could have made these 24 hours a hell for me, but you didn’t. And I really had fun. So thank you”

“Come on, you think that I'm that bad of a person? Man, you really must hate me,” he joked

“I don’t, actually. You just get on my nerves sometimes. Most of the time. But, you know, I don’t hate you.” which was actually true.

“Good, because I don’t hate you, either.” he smiled. You were glad, you were happy to be friends with him, even if sometimes he was a pretentious asshole.

"Actually, that's kinda the whole point," Chris chuckled nervously, playing with his hands. What was going on?

"Uh?"

"Yeah, uhm," He mumbled, turning all red.

"What, the cat got your tongue?" you teased him. You had never seen him this flustered, and you were going to take your sweet time with it.

"Oh please,” he composed himself. “The thing is, Y/N, I- I like you,” he confessed, looking at you.

“What?” you couldn’t believe this was happening, he’d always been picking on you.

“Yeah, I have for a while actually, and I just wanted a chance to show you I’m not that mean, a-and I’m sorry if I seemed-”

“Shut up,” you mumbled, and then you kissed him. It was a soft kiss, you could taste the strawberry ice cream he had on his lips.

“So, I get it you like me too?” he asked, smiling at you.

“Mh, what do you say, genius, it's you that knows everything!” you chuckled.

He laughed, but then kissed you again. His kisses were so sweet and intoxicating, and you mentally bashed yourself for not having confessed before.

Chris pulled away, looking at you in the eyes, the smirk you hated so much appearing again on his face.

"So… you want to bet on the next exam, Y/L/N?" he whispered.

The sun hasn't fully risen yet, and the sky is the grey pre-dawn of a day waiting for possibilities

Chris pulls his sleeping wife closer to him, and she slumbers on. He has the blessing/curse of waking up before the alarm, so even though he'd appreciate the extra sleep, he's happy for the moment to hold her close before the day begins

The alarm goes off and she whimpers in protest. He chuckles, and asks Alexa to snooze

She snuggles in closer to him and his body responds to her softness and sweetness, and she kisses him with a hum and a slight smile against his lips

Nine minutes goes by too fast

She silences the alarm this time, and rolls over to climb out of bed

Chris hops in the shower while she gets the coffee going

She passes him in the hallway, handing him a mug with a kiss as she takes her turn in the shower

Chris pops some bread in the toaster and starts the eggs

She gets dressed and does her makeup quickly while he cooks

Another kiss as they pass in the kitchen, and she packs up the breakfast he cooked as he dresses

They get in the car just in time, singing along with the radio, and he parks in the faculty lot

She hands him his to-go mug of coffee and he gives her the breakfast container, another sweet lingering kiss, and they head off in separate directions with coffee and breakfast and sweet morning memories, and a promise to meet at lunchtime

y’all already know that he is a space nerd

I mean, he is an astronaut

you two would be laying either on a hill or in your garden 

because that boy doesn’t want to live in a big city

curled up against each other

him just pointing at stars and naming them

eventually, you learn some of the names

Beth Johanssen Headcanons

okay so i have many headcanons for ALL the characters in The Martian, it’s my favourite book, and i love the entire ares3 crew very much, but Beth is my favourite so i’m starting with her

She’s not the space nerd you’d expect 

Like you really want her to, but her first love was computers, and she never had a space phase (no pun intended) as a kid, so she doesn’t know that much about the history of spaceflight or other planets 

obviously she knows a lot about space, she’s an astronaut but she only knows what she NEEDS to know

She is a true crime nerd tho 

She ADORES Agatha Christie, and that brought her into the true crime community

 Podcasts are her BITCH and she will listen to them all the time, but especially when she’s on runs 

she got into them in college but they really carried her through astronaut training 

Anglophile 

This girl FUCKING loves England. The Beatles are just one example of her weird obsession with that country

She wanted so badly to meet the queen when she was younger

 She specifically asked NASA for royalty news while she was up in space, but they said no 

VERY attached to her tech

Like gives a name to every computer or gaming system she owns.

 Her in-space computer was Candice, her work laptop is Johnathan, her gaming computer is Sam and her personal is Kyle. (yes she does have three) and her pc is COVERED in stickers. 

When her last laptop died (Gregory) she cried. Like literally cried. That computer got her undergrad and had been with her for too long not to. 

Coffee snob 

She won’t buy it from Dunkin, it has to be at least Starbucks but she actually prefers local, and will spend at least 15 minutes searching for an independent before resorting to a chain. 

She got a premium coffee maker (with all the bells and whistles) for her birthday one year and it is one of her most prized possessions 

Is definitely addicted to caffeine and got headaches if she didn’t get her fix, but when NASA found out they made her detox on decaf for three weeks, and was confined to two cups a day for the remainder of time as an astronaut 

Once she got back tho, she was right back to her old ways. 

Night owl

Obviously not a morning person, she HATES waking up, but she also loves staying up. 

It’s something about being awake while the rest of the world sleeps

Also it’s just fun to stay awake 

She’d work for hours into the night before she became an astronaut 

let’s be honest, she still does even after she’s back from space

Chris hates when she does this, because “sleep is vital to good health”

You stood between the two intense gazes of the astronauts, the only sound being the groaning of the spaceship as you drifted in the desolate darkness.

It was a standoff, that much was visible. And to your horror, Mace stepped aside, letting Chris push you inside your bedroom.

The two men remained outside, the door closing you in and out of earshot.
