oh my god FUCK
i accidentally addressed a package to jasper not [deadname] (i literally typed in my deadname but it somehow changed it to jasper, previous order maybe)
but anyway my parents found the parcel before me and asked me why it said jasper and i said i didnt know it must be a mistake but theyre so definitely onto me and my mum literally said "if you were a boy would you call yourself that" and i didnt know what to say
and its not just that easy to come out to your family, especially when theyre so weird around your other trans friends and your dad specifically said you cant change your name and got a tattoo of your deadname
im scared what's going to happen

If u were born as human what human name would u have preferred?
Hmm... maybe Swift. You know, like the bird. They can sleep on the wing and they only ever land to lay eggs or feed their young. I like that! I'd like to fly all the time.
Or maybe Skylark – skylarks can sing and fly at the same time. Most birds can't do that because they haven't got the stamina.
Do humans have bird names?
They can be called body parts...
Such as?
"Spike".
Ugh. Thank you for that. Well. I think I would like a normal name. A writer's name, like... Terry or... or... Martin... or... Charles...
... Those are common names. Why are they specifically writers' names?
Charles Dickens, Terry Pratchett, Martin-
I get it. You're so weird!
Are you two done bickering? I think Megatron's got a good idea! I might go with Michael, after Michael Jordan.
Give me patience!
Yes, please. You do need it.
Megs...
I like the name Johnny. I'd probably go with that. Or... Kevin, maybe.
Either of those would suit you, Bee. Or Dave, maybe. David means "beloved". I can't remember who told me that, but I know that's right.
Ewww...!
Is there a name that means "forever whining"?
Aw, don't be mean to Star! He just wants to be loved too.
Hug me and I will remove your arms.
Oh. We could go for a walk?
OK!

we've been amassing a giant list of names to use for ocs (cause we have way too many and keep making way too many. no we're not getting rid of any of them why would you think that)
so uh. basically, if you have something you want a name for, let us know and we will consult the list and give you some options
that's like. ocs. pets. chosen names. we are unfortunately well versed with warrior cats and neutrally well versed with wings of fire so we can do names for those too
names for characters that only show up once and never again, we can do that
characters you've had for three years and still can't figure out a good name for (relate hard to that one)
give us as many as you want/need, we're happy to throw some suggestions out

it's funny that babies are often named before they are even born, or when they are very small and you have no idea of their personality yet. of course it makes sense because how would you refer to a child with no name, it would be impossible to arrange legal documents, etc. but how can you choose a name that suits their Vibes if you don't know what their Vibes are ?? i'm glad it's possible to choose your own name / nickname as you grow up because certain names just do not match the person they were given to at all, or maybe the name worked at one point in their life but not anymore, and we should be allowed to reinvent ourselves. this post is sort of about a conversation i was having with my (also trans) boyfriend but not exclusively !! anyone can change their name for any reason. and i think that's beautiful :)

"but chosen names are hard, I still know you as [deadname]"
When people find out we have a deadname by seeing it ONCE they forever file it as our only name and never call us by any chosen name ever again even after knowing us by our chosen names first

Compliments and Progress (Tiny Steps for Big Feet)
The other day I got a compliment from a customer which ranked pretty highly as far as customer compliments go. I do get to have with my work my chosen name displayed with the spelling I chose. I went through my name changing in 2016 as my legal name, is the name of an abuser in my family I've gone no contact with.
I have been going by Emmanuelle for 9 years now. On picking up this customer, they ask, "wow, I love your name. It's like reading a painting."
I let them know, that's one of the best compliments on my name I have ever received. I only shared a few stories of how I came to my chosen name. I was taken back by the compliment...a bit flustered but still thank ful for the compliment.
It was 2016 when I was going through a name and pronoun update. 2020 until I started hrt. It's not every customer who notices, or gets the spelling right and pronunciation right, but it's so validating, gives me a warm feeling that progress is being made. It's such a change from before as the name I was given I did not have any pride, but a lot of shame, distrust, intergenerational trauma.

"Noun names" would include atypical names like "Sock" or "Brick" as well as more traditional names like "Rose" or "Hunter."

I have a feeling I should change my name again...
idk I'm feeling pretty agender and so far I've been genderfluid cos I kept changing my gender identity.
but I think imma stay at agender now
I've been florian for my masc and gnc identities and florence for my more feminine ones
but honestly I feel like changing it
I really like the name Aston because 1. Aston Martin is one of my favourite cars and f1 racing teams.
and 2. It's genderneutral so I don't really need two names.
anyway tell me what you people think- should I keep my chosen name as florian/florence or change it to Aston- I wanna know which one fits me more.
I'm keeping my chosen last name as Meadows (so it's not the same as my fathers)

I think I might have figured out my name. After finding one that stood out to me (on a list of various names) I asked someone to use it and my pronouns together and I got a massive surge of Euphoria from it. It was so nice to have them be used together I was almost giddy for a moment.
(now to come out as Agender so people will actually use the name and Pronoun.)
