I think I mentioned this before but fuck it I'm mentioning it again anyway.

Chao are like parrots in my lore. Eternal toddlers, and they live practically forever. (I know canonically it's like 5 years or whatever but you know who cares? Not me!) It's fairly typical to arrange for someone else to take your Chao when you die, like how you do with some parrots. Chao are friendly overall but sometimes they *bond* to a specific person and that's that. That's their Mommy/Daddy/Parent/etc., and you cannot convince them otherwise. Canonically we have Cream and Cheese, and Vanilla and Chocola were implied to be a pair in IDW if I recall correctly. My lore also has Jewel and Puck eventually. (Puck my beloved, loves his Mommy, tolerates Bark, Bean, and the BugBears eventually, and chooses violence against almost anyone else lmao)

Wisps, on the other hand, can be the Mobian equivalent of service dogs if you train them right in my lore. They can be trained to recognize medical episodes of varying kinds, to bring you your medicine or other aids, and can run and fetch help if you need medical attention or have fallen and can't get up. They're super smart and typically eager to please as long as you treat them right. We're gonna see a Service Wisp in my lore WAY later on when Daichi has his accident and Espio gets him Kato because Daichi kept trying to go without his cane and wheelchair because he can "tough it out" and Espio and Dinah were worried their son would fall somewhere and they wouldn't know.

Both are allowed in pretty much any Mobian establishment with little complaint, but exception might be made if your Chao/Wisp is poorly behaved. (Puck gets banned from entry into the North Island ski slopes because he bites Bark's mom Ursa lmao, which she had coming because she's a massive bitch, but still.) Human establishments it's hit or miss. They might let in your Chao/Wisp, they might insist your Chao/Wisp wait outside.
