A work colouge gifted me a tiny book with blank pages last year, becouse she didn't have any use for it, and I mentioned that I found it cute. (It has sunflowers on the cover!)

I took it as an oportunity to doodle some Yokai, using only fine liner ^^

1st: Kasa Obake, 6.11.2023

2nd: Yatagarasu, 8.11.2023

I wanted to practice drawing ravens/crows, but also keep the Yokai theme. That beeing said, this has to be the most borring looking yokai out there! It's just a crow with three feet! They couldn't gibe it something cool, like a third eye, or four wings?!

3rd: Chōchin Obake, 9.11.2023

Drew this during my work places early celebration of "Sankt Martin", a lantern parade/"festival" based on a roman soldier that shared his cloak with a homeless dude, and which official is on the 11th of November. So, I drew this to keep with the lantern theme.

Some designs Halloween themed for this spooky month, I like ghosts stories and got inspired by listening to an horror audio-book. Here are the designs of a classical occidental ghost and a chochin-obake (the lantern ghost), plus a phone wallpaper pastel themed that I did for myself.

Nº 8: The Chōchin obake 🏮

When a paper lantern reaches an advanced age it becomes a chōchin obake. The paper splits along one of its wooden ribs, forming a mouth complete with a wild tongue. One or two eyes pop out of the upper half of the lantern as well!

An Oni girl with a chochin obake companion! I won’t lie, I mostly did this for the express purpose of putting bows on her horns.

I’ve been a huge yokai mood this october! Even though they’re from legends born on the opposite end of the globe, a good deal of yokai media tends to have a wonderful combination of spookiness, whimsy and cuteness that makes it a perfect fit for the season.

Chochin-Obake “paper latern ghost” is a yokai and may appear when a paper latern reaches an advanced age.While the paper splits it develops one or more eyes and a wide gaping mouth.It usally doesn’t harm anyone but will preffer to suprize their victims by laughing and rolling their large tongues.
