*Holds up Félix and Chloé* It’s not obvious because it’s all WIPs and very little has been posted but I care them so much. I love putting them in a room together and locking the door to see what happens. They’re two somewhat territorial cats who are fighting one minute, then totally chill the next. They’re judging each other. They like to hang out and judge other people. They’re mocking each other one minute and then planning each other’s parents’ (Andre and Audrey’s/Colt’s) murders. Amélie invites Chloé over and treats her like a daughter. Chloé is breaking down crying in Amélie’s arms because she feels loved one moment, then smirking at Félix because she’s stealing his mom five minutes later. Sabrina knows Félix by his full government name due to Chloé’s ranting but has never formally met him. They both love Adrien so much but they’re not the greatest at remembering to tell him. They both have so many issues. They complain about each other. They have blackmail material for days. They would kill for one another if it came down to it. Do you feel me. Do you get me. Did any of that make sense. I know I’m taking a five second interaction and allusions to what their relationship was before and blowing it up out of proportion but they interest me so MUCH and I WILL make headcanons about it.
#One of these days I’ll get to write something proper and my rambling will make more sense#there’s a few moments in CTS that I really wanna get to bc they mean so much to me#I wanna see them interact more. I think it’ll be funny/interesting/heartbreaking. I’ll take anything#I haven’t written anything for it but I do think it would be interesting to have them talk post season 5#Where Chloé is at her lowest and thinks she can’t get better. and then Félix rocks up like ‘Been there#‘C’mon let’s get you some self reflection and view changing experiences. Or don’t I can’t make you’#and she’s like ‘What you’re suddenly perfect now??’ and he’s like ‘HA. no. but I’m getting better. trying to anyways. and you can too’#‘But you have to WANT to.’#and. yeah. chlonette fic where an akuma is an akumatized egg that's responsible for taking over the whole world according to Bunnix and in order to prevent it, Ladybug must make sure whatever hatches does not fall into the wrong hands. everything is set into plan, they retrieve the egg, make sure they have everything they need for baby sitting and luckily, Ladybug is good with kids and evil eggs.
Except, Chloé isn't. And by some luck the egg likes her.
It's crack, it's chlonette begrudging co parenting, it's a surprise on whatever the heck hatches and it's good for Chloe's exploration with trauma from both parents. It also has an evil egg.

I remember you posted an old comic to your patreon which featured Chloe as Queen Bee ignoring Marinette when she was trapped and Ladybug laying into her for it. Will you be reposting it to your tumblr since your patreon is no longer up?
Eh sure I can post it
Disclaimer: I made this during the Great Hiatus when we had no idea how the leaked heroes were getting their Miraculouses, so I went with the theory that Chat Noir would choose Chloe for Queen "B" without Ladybug/Marinette knowing her identity (it was at the time the only way I could think of Chloe getting a Miraculous, plus only Rena and Queen had been spoiled so Nino wasn't an option). Also all we had were blurry photos, thus QB's suit not matching canon and everyone calling her "Queen B" instead of the full Bee.
Additionally, this was the first chapter to a redemption comic I had planned, so this is kinda the Hit Rock Bottom portion of the story (thus why there's no upward swing). AND I will never finish this as obviously it is BEYOND Non-Canon-Compliant lol
Obviously the plan is for this to be a wake up call (even had a whole "do you know why I picked you" speech from Chat to swing back to a more upbeat point for Chloe to start her Self Reflection on), but I stalled too long and then canon came and made all of this moot lol.
#tw:blood#enchanted florist cameo#abandoned comic#I will never pick this up again don't even ask#my art#my very old very hard to look at art#ml comic

Reasons why I don’t believe Chloe was never meant to be redeemed:
1) the intro, from season one, included queen bee

And she’s the only hero who has since been replaced. If nothing else, it shows that they didn’t plan on vesperia until way later.
2) She was given a sympathetic backstory(which they used to enact short-term change)
and i am specifically talking about despair bear, which makes me all sorts of frustrated because her butler using her self-soothing method to manipulate and shame her into acting better for her classmates makes me feel so sad for her.
but the fact still stands that they gave Chloe a sympathetic backstory that not only tied her to adrien, potentially giving her an ally to help her change, but to explain(not excuse) her behavior.

there is ZERO reason for that screenshot to exist of a character that was never considered for redemption. you don’t paint your villains that way.
3) lila, like her entire existence
Okay so like, as a superhero show that has clear time both in and out of the suits, it makes sense to have clear civilian AND supervillain antagonists to keep it interesting on both sides. In season one, Ladybug and Chat Noir had hawkmoth. Adrien had Gabriel, and Marinette had Chloe. At the end of the season, they introduced lila as marinette’s civilian antagonist. THERE WAS NO REASON TO INTRODUCE A NEW ANTAGONIST FOR MARINETTE UNLESS THEY KNEW THERE WOULD BE A VOID SOON. The fact that Lila and Chloe essentially serve the same purpose after season 3, so much so that lila is almost completely sidelined until much later, shows that they didn’t know what to do with them *because chloe wasn’t supposed to be a villain*.
4) zoe & vesperia
Here’s the thing: If Chloe was meant to be irredeemable from the start, there should have been a clear plan for the bee miraculous. I can think of two ways it could’ve gone: either develop another bee holder from season 2 onwards, or have chloe steal the bee. Because what we got instead was Chloe’s half sister who was introduced in season FOUR. Not only was she introduced to the show, she was introduced to marinette. And she received her miraculous in the very next episode. There was no development, and it reflects very poorly on marinette that she chose to give a miraculous to a girl she had just met(and a girl related to Chloe at that, even if Zoe was nice, it’s very irresponsible). Had Zoe been introduced in season 2, or even the beginning of 3, it would’ve made way more sense for her to be given a miraculous by season 4. But that’s not what happened. Instead we get a character that’s shoehorned into a role because it needs filled.
5) RESISTING AN AKUMA

Chloe was the first person to resist an akuma. enough said. Because why would you give that accomplishment to a character that you planned to stay an antagonist from the start????
And listen, i’m not the first person to say these things. And it’s not the first time i’ve said it. and i’ll say it again and again because it’s frustrating. Because not only did we get this potential, but we’re being told to our faces that it was never there. That we’re crazy for thinking she could change. I don’t know what was going on in the writers room, but honestly even if they DID plan to keep her an antagonist from the start, maybe they should start lying and say they changed their minds. because all of the clues point to her being redeemed. It leaves the writers looking incompetent, utterly incompetent.

anderson construction and landscaping had been parked outside your door since you returned home from university. as if the summer couldn't get any hotter, the business owner works overtime in your area. anderson is collecting new, loyal clients of your neighbors, cementing her permanence in your life for the next few months. what's to come of your girlish crush when she keeps showing up?

You stumble through Ms. Anderson’s living room to find a spare blanket hidden somewhere in the darkness. With the terms you and Ellie are on, it wouldn’t be wise to have her pick you up tonight. Especially since you hadn’t told her you were hired by Abigail as her assistant. Not that she had outwardly admitted she had issues with Abby, but you knew Ellie more than anyone else — she was jealous. It was going to come up sooner or later considering you will have to see her on site but for now, you just needed to sleep.
You check in the corner near the massive bookshelf to find an ottoman hiding a fluffy black comforter. You creep through the house to search for the bathroom but not before you check on her. So, as the door opens and you see a snoring Abby sprawled out messily on her large bed, hair flaring on the silk pillowcase, mouth open and one arm hanging off the bed. You walk to close her curtains and take her now empty water glass with you out of the room. You handle it carefully and set it on a countertop. You wanted her. You craved her differently than you did Ellie. It was foolish but when her eyes hovered over your body today, you knew she wanted something from you. You don’t think she even knew what it was, if it was sex, companionship, or both, it was something. Something you had to find out.
This often happened, you thought, a mature woman could increase your curiosity easily and swiftly. They forced you to compare your relationship with Ellie to them and wonder how was it truly to fuck someone who knew exactly what they were doing. And Ms. Anderson knew exactly what she was doing. Staring at your curves so intently, and piercing your soul with those heavy eyes every chance she got. It felt good to watch the handsome woman admire you and possibly reminisce about her former self. Suddenly warm, you linger on to find her bathroom and flickered on the light.
The tiling was navy and white hexagons layered up and down the length of the room. On the left just as you entered was a wall with five inch deep shelving embedded in it. She was so organized, items sat in small matching boxes, not overfilled but just enough. It amazed you. All black boxes sat on three shelves neatly labeled with their contents: medical, personal, and hair. You close the door softly and pick through the first two baskets, trying to not disturb their contents. Beside the shelves on the opposite wall is a small window that is slightly open, probably to help with the moisture and it’s covered in privacy film. Her neighborhood was noisy with a variety of buzzing lightning bugs and cicadas.
Next to it is the wide shower encased in reflective glass spanning almost half of the rooms size. Inside were waterproof shelves holding more of Abby’s products and a wooden showering bench. Finally, you turn to the mirror that faces the shower directly and begin to wash your face off in the sink. The summertime was unforgiving and you started to feel it — sticky neck and a damp back was motivation enough to risk a shower and have her realize you never left.
Your fingers trace Abby’s usual products, not that you were shocked but you did crack a smile at the common theme of vanilla. You fold your clothes and place it on the sink and begin to lather a small dollop of her body wash into your skin. The water pressure was lush and the heat alone was hotter than you were used to but it felt so soothing, so right.
What would it be like to shower with Ms. Anderson on the days you’d spend the night? Her wide, wet hands tracing against your spine and wrapping around your waist to pull you into her needy body. Spreading warm, bubbly soap over your breasts and gently wrapping her fingers around your neck. A soft sigh escapes you as you fantasize about the woman who owns this house — who practically built it. You could slip into her bedroom right now and confess.
But what was there to confess to Abby? That you had a crush on the woman? Or that you saw how easy it was for her to lead and how much that turned you on… ridiculous. This wasn’t unusual, you had crushes in your life and you thought that was normal. The girl from Chemistry, the TA in Philosophy, or your English professor, it was interesting to see people differently and fantasize. But there was a different level with Abby, you thought about her, not just in the moments you see her but after. Pondering on the what-ifs, you wanted her to see you differently than she did now.
You finally turned the water off and stepped out onto the fluffy shower mat, mirror evenly steamed up and a creeping realization that you were standing naked in your new boss’ home. The comfort was over and now the feeling became intrusion, you were out of your mind. A creaking noise outside of the door awakened your senses further, the noise in your head was your heart. Air-drying would have to do. Back in your clothes and in her living room asylum was found under the down-feather cover. It shouldn’t feel this good doing something this bad, staying without invitation, but you knew she wouldn’t mind. To wake up to a relaxed, totally open you on her couch because your safety was her main priority.
A warm morning sun welcomed you out of a slumber of fantasies and one of reality. You were inside Ms. Anderson’s house, lying down as if you were at a sleepover. You sat up immediately once you heard a familiar step pad down the hallway to empty into the living room. Abby rubs her eyes awake and stretches. That tight, white shirt pressed against her body deliciously, exposing her frigid nipples that were punctured with rings. You blink ferociously, hoping you were awake and not dreaming. The protruding metal laid perfectly flush against the fat of her breast, outlining a small circle on each nipple. The sensation filling your mouth could only be described as mouthwatering.
“Oh, hi?” She yawns.
“Good morning, I slept here bec—”
“It’s alright, I know. It was nice what you did,” she leaned on the door frame. “I don’t deserve it but I’m thankful, so thank you.”
You begin to fold the duvet, your clothes were tucked in awkward positions, exposing thigh and shoulder, a chill carried over you. “It really was not problem, I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss your meeting this morning that you told me about, remember?” You flush.
“Right,”
The woman took a hand through her hair to clean herself up. Her stomach popped a bit over her waistband revealing lingering sprawl of light hair towards the center of her belly. Those thighs filled out her boxers wonderfully and you couldn’t pull your eyes away from them, hoping one day you'd be able to be crushed in between —
“Technically you don’t start until next week.” Abby covers her chest with her forearms suddenly feeling insecure.
“I know but seeing you last night made me worry that you wouldn’t wake up this early.” You smiled.
Abby just nodded her head, unsure of what to say next.
“I’m sorry for that, it was completely unlike me.”
The distance between you both felt vast, like you were on two opposing continents, like you did something wrong.
“Clearly, you have a lot on your mind.” You mutter gently.
Abby directs you into the kitchen where she opens up her small windows to air the house out and start a fresh pot of coffee, her gray fuzzy house shoes scratching against the hardwood.
“Why don’t you come along with me today, to my client meeting? It’ll be training.”
You stood with your back against her cool fridge and peered down at your current attire. It would be much better than walking around the neighborhood today with mom and a potential argument with Ellie festering. “That could be perfect but I need to wear something more up to par with you.”
A laugh bellowed from Abby’s plump belly.
“I wear ten year old cargo pants and tee shirts but whatever you say. You want a cup?”
You just nod at the pure persuasion of the fresh, hot coffee infiltrating the air.
“I haven’t brushed my teeth yet though.”
“Right, um I left one in the bathroom for you, extras from the dentists should do the job.”
꒰ঌ ໒꒱
It hadn’t slipped out of your mind that Abby said her clients mom was interested in meeting her daughter. Abigail appeared as if she had fought a million hangovers before in her life, she was glowing. Her farce about cargo pants and t-shirts went out the window this morning when she slicked her hair in a low braid, perfectly french-ed onto her scalp. Although the outfit was a bit outdated, she looked as daring as ever, dark green button down top with cropped sleeves and black chino pants. She was actively trying to looking good. She was kind enough to take you back home to change and get ready for the day. It all worked out since she had to check up on the current project.
“I really appreciate your family for thinking of me yesterday. It’s rare that clients think so highly of us construction workers. The most we get are drinks but no one thinks about the actual energy that we exert and how high our food intake is.”
How were you to tell her it was mostly you, not your parents, they were just the willing party.
“Of course, I’m glad you enjoyed it, seemed like you really need it.”
Abby’s posture changed but her eyes stayed forward.
“You’re a great chef.” She turned slightly to connect with you. She needed you to understand how deeply she admired how you took care of her, since the first interaction. She wanted to be clear about what her words meant, they weren't empty, or so you hoped.
“Thank you, hopefully I can cook for you again.” You say, poking an already anxious bear.

Juleka time! I love the idea that she specifically chose a name similar to Chat Noir's because she admires him. He's her role model, and she tries to push herself to face her fears with his level of confidence.
Reflecta's weird head thing confuses me, so I originally planned to give her space buns just to reference it. But she ended up looking better with her hair down. I based her dress in part on glam punk fashion. She shares a few colors with Silencer (because akuma twins) I also added a shattered mirror detail to her dress and face because- well, reflections. Then add a skeleton design to her mouth to further tie her in with Silencer, as well as reference the Bloody Mary game. Again because reflections.
Purple Tigress is a bad bitch. We all know it. As much as I like her ponytail I though with LB, QB,and RR all having ponytails I needed to add some variety into the extended cast. So I tucked her hair up to show her face fully.
Since Juleka doesn't have too much to do outside of her time as Purple Tigress or Reflekta her story is mostly open. Her relationship with Rose is almost entirely unchanged.
I think I have to go back and work on Chloe, she's swung too far from her cannon self. As such I can't figure out how episodes like Reflecta would work, although I suppose Juleka could just legit be cursed...
Revisions in progress.
The biggest difference is the powers. Were changing from Clout to a more Sucker Punch esk move. The tiger miraculous user becomes difficult to detect. Not invisible but camouflaged to the degree they can sneak up on their enemies if skilled enough. If they touch anything alive or break concentration the camo will drop.
Once close enough they can call to release the disguise and all of the power goes into one blow. As such the tiger miraculous holders tend to have a much shorter time before detransformation, even after training. It's risking it all for the chance to take the opponent down in one strike.
Juleka knows when to stay hidden and when to make her voice heard. Which makes her a great Tiger.

star of the show; clark kent
even the brightest star
with the spotlight on her
felt like a sad girl
since the moon wasn’t there.

angst, drama, theater kid!
romeo and juliet, the tragedy of a love story. they were called star-crossed lovers for a reason—famous for it, hated for it, yet their tale became one of the most influential love stories in history. a love that barely began, but the heart had already been pierced by a dagger.
yet not every love story is a tragedy, or so y/n believed, because that’s how she felt. she was living in a romantic comedy, as she would describe her love life with clark kent—the golden retriever lead in her movie.
he was pure, the missing star in her orbit, yet now he was finally with her. clark was the kind of guy anyone could fall in love with. his charm lay not just in his smile, but in his heart—a heart full of goodness and care, the kind of heart you’d want to shield from any dagger.
y/n had always been in love with clark, ever since their middle school days together. he had always been a great friend to her, until one valentine's day, when she gently placed a soft kiss on his cheek, along with a love letter.
their love had always been there, growing with each love letter that became a confession of their feelings. then one day, clark stood in front of her, holding yellow flowers and his heart, ready to offer both to y/n.
that’s how their love story continued, until it began to crumble like stones falling apart. high school wasn’t the issue—it was that the rom-com paused at a moment when the lead character went missing.
clark often disappeared, acted strangely, or seemed to know too much. at first, y/n didn’t think it was a big deal, but it kept happening—and it never stopped.
she started to see him less and less. y/n was distracted with her theater group while clark was always gone. he’d say the torch magazine was keeping him busy, but the office was usually empty. sometimes chloe was there, but clark? he wasn’t.
one of those nights, y/n finally had him in her presence. it had been weeks since she’d seen him, but now he was there. they sat in his barn loft, one of their favorite places.
y/n sat in front of him, holding her script in hand, her eyes meeting his as she laughed softly, happily. clark read the lines of romeo, helping her prepare for tomorrow night. it was a school play—romeo & juliet—and y/n had the role of juliet.
it made her smile to have her own romeo in front of her.
clark burst into laughter. "how can you take this seriously? the words are so old, i can barely understand what they’re saying."
y/n chuckled, placing her hand gently over his. "sweetheart, you should pay more attention in english class. haven’t you read the book?" she teased him.
clark rolled his eyes but smiled. "no, maybe i should have, since my girl is juliet. i’m ashamed i won’t understand you tomorrow."
y/n chuckled, but a thought slipped out before she could stop it. "as if you’ll be there tomorrow."
clark’s smile faded, his brows furrowing in confusion. "what do you mean by that?"
"well... you’re never there," she said softly, her words tinged with hurt. "you always miss my school plays. there’s always an empty seat reserved for you." it pained y/n every time she didn’t see him in the crowd. she would wonder if he was just out of sight or waiting backstage for her, but he never was.
clark’s heart ached. he quickly grabbed her hands, holding them tightly, afraid her warmth might slip away like her heart. "love, i’m so sorry. i promise i’ll be there tomorrow, with a big bouquet of roses."
y/n chuckled, rubbing her thumb across his hands. "you know i like yellow flowers."
clark smiled softly, looking deeply into her eyes, which now held a shade of blue, reflecting his sadness and regret. "yellow it is, then."
the truth was, clark had never told y/n about his true self. it wasn’t fear that held him back, but his instinct to protect her. after everything he’d seen, all that had happened around him, and what his destiny would demand, his only thought was to keep y/n safe—safe from everyone and everything. she was his heart, and that was the part of him he couldn’t bear to risk.
she was the sun he needed.
yet, like in every romantic comedy, there’s a breaking point where the lovers reach a moment of hurt.
for y/n, that moment came as she stood on stage, the spotlight shining on her, but her eyes glistened with unshed tears. the seat reserved for him was empty again.
the star had missed her orbit once more.
the city was shining, but not for her.
it shone for superman.
pt. 2 is out!
much love!!!
ps: if u have watched romeo&juliet (1968) pls say it in unison that tom welling could be benvolio or romeo.

In regards to Saxon and Lochlan's sexual dynamic, the defining representation of it for me thus far are the shots of them on each side of the bed, Saxon overcome with ecstasy and Lochlan genuinely delighted when he was able to get Saxon to cum. The sexual dynamic is a mirror reflection of the overarching dynamic between them as brothers raised in the way they were raised and as two people who love each other. I think it's really compelling, and it's why I don't understand the perspective that one of the brothers not matching the sexual desire of the other somehow diminishes the shock impact of what's happening between them, makes it any less unnatural, or generally just takes the thrill out of it for people who get pleasure from contemplating taboo relationships (particularly queer ones).
I truly haven't yet gotten any indication of sexual desire from Lochlan (not for Saxon or Chloe or anyone). He seems a little ace to me in the way he gives off vibes about being curious more as an outsider or accessory, not motivated by the thought of sex but happy to entertain Saxon's obsession with it because he loves him and wants to be a part of his interests. I think at this point sex is just a physical activity to him the same as, like, playing tennis, and that's why he is contemplative rather than alarmed by Saxon's subconscious desire for him.
E.g. my interpretation of the bedroom stare is that Lochlan was in that moment putting the pieces together after a particularly bizarre and telling conversation with his brother. He is recognizing that a lot of Saxon's interactions with him are driven by an unconscious lust and romantic attachment to him (Saxon trying so hard to be integral to a highly individual/personal life event like Lochlan losing his virginity, talking graphically about sex in relation to both himself and Lochlan, and walking nude to the bathroom after making it explicitly clear that he was going to masturbate, are all very revealing attempts to influence the scope/boundaries of Lochlan's perception and engagement with him). That moment to me felt like Lochlan saying "all right...he obviously wants me to consider this. is this something i would want to pursue?"
The hand job felt more like the performance of a loving, helpful deed rather than a lust-driven encounter on Lochlan's side, but for Saxon it looked much more sultry and desirous. The vibes felt so different to me on each side of the bed. Lochlan isn't really showing any signs of being affected by physical pleasure or desire and is more just Performing an Activity, while Saxon is clearly overwhelmed by his pleasure and desire (being brought to climax specifically when he became cognizant that it was Lochlan who was sexually engaged with him).
While Lochlan's sexual activity as we've seen it doesn't seem to include the presence of sexual desire for others or a strong response to physical sexual pleasure, he is still satisfying a specific part of himself by engaging in it (that's to say, I don't think he does it out of pressure from outside influences, but rather to serve a specific and intense self-driven internal impulse). I don't think Lochlan was at all interested in Chloe, and that his primary motivation that night was to share an experience with Saxon that would be resonant for him. The strong self-driven impulse he's serving by doing that is chasing the gratification he gets when he makes the people he loves feel good.
So while the sexual encounter with Saxon doesn't seem to be driven by physical lust to me on Lochlan's side, I do think that the emotional and mental pleasure he derived from the experience was just as intense as the orgasmic/sexual pleasure Saxon got out of it. I imagine that in the future, sex would end up being a worthwhile activity for Lochlan specifically as a means to feel those exceptional feelings he gets when others are pleased by him - and that outcome would be just as significant to him as someone having sex for the orgasm and/or romantic gratification it could provide. Lochlan seems so unencumbered and delighted in the moment that Saxon cums, with his whole experience showing the same buildup and euphoria pay off as Saxon's orgasm.
I think it's also relevant in their situation to consider how their genuine love for each other is elevating the gratification they're getting from sharing this physical experience together. Saxon in particular seems to be gravitationally drawn to and in love with Lochlan as a person in a way he hasn't felt for anyone else. There is a special type of romanticizing of Lochlan that he's doing as a result of the unique kindness and adoration he receives from Lochlan that makes him feel like the golden idolized older brother, and more generally, like a compelling person that is worth loving.
Literally no one else makes him feel this way. Lochlan is positioned uniquely in contrast to Piper and probably every woman Saxon has ever met who thinks he's fucking awful. But Lochlan knows him better than anyone and still wants to be close to him. Nearly all of Saxon's actions in the narrative thus far are motivated by an intense longing to receive gestures of romantic, loving intimacy from Lochlan - because clearly intimacy is something that is grossly absent in his day-to-day life, and that has made him desperate for it. Saxon is obsessed with Lochlan and preserving the unique function that Lochlan serves in his life: being the only human in the world who finds Saxon lovable and worthwhile.
For Lochlan, I think the distinction between types of love (platonic, romantic, familial) doesn't really hold any significance to him when it comes to how he experiences it, something that was probably influenced by the love vacuum he grew up in as the youngest child alone in a huge house with neglectful absent parents. He is just desperate to be loved at all in any way, and to feel like his existence is important (if not critical) to someone else in order for that person to be happy in life.
In the most tragic and off-putting of ways, their circumstances and experiences have molded them into perfect compliments to each other's damage. Specifically, their parents' neglect and unconscious abuse made it an extremely likely outcome that they would develop an unnatural co-dependent bond.
Saxon has a strong and confident personality as a result of his dad-manufactured sense of identity and purpose. His parents inculcated him in a toxic wealth-driven environment characterized by soulless beliefs and behaviors that turned him into a terrible, useless, unlovable person. His wealth and physical attractiveness are bound to get him a lot of attention and draw people to him initially, but his inner character is so awful that it must drive people away rather quickly. Anyone that does stay with him probably does it for the social or financial advantages it provides them. But ultimately, he isn't capable of generating sincere intimacy with another person no matter how much he craves it. The conditions of his life and identity don't allow it. He distracts himself from that fact with superficial, empty experiences with people, but never achieves anything close to fulfillment or self-actualization.
While their father clearly put effort into molding Saxon into a Tim 2.0, both parents appear to have stopped trying to be an active parent by the time Lochlan came along. The lack of interest in cultivating his personality has contributed to his struggle with finding identity, purpose, and self-recognition. He is deeply lonely and awkward in his struggle to connect with others.
This is what's at the heart of the complimentary contrast for me: Saxon's day-to-day life is filled with attention from others that only serves to highlight how starving he is for intimacy and how inept he is at cultivating it in reality. It's like dreaming that you're eating from a buffet but continuing to feel the ache of starvation as you go. Lochlan, on the other hand, receives no attention at all and is desperate for someone to take an interest in him.
At this point in his life, Lochlan has hinged his identity on an abstract sense of purpose that's sort of like Schrodinger's cat. Do I have meaning? I can only know that if someone is looking at me. Will I ever feel good in life? I'll never be anything if I can't compel someone to love me. How do I get people to love me and see me? My purpose, my function, is to increase my value in the eyes of others by any means so that they become attached to me and maybe one day they'll love me as much as I need them to. I will never feel satisfied if I don't keep grinding for the love and attention of others.
I think a big factor in Saxon's damage that has him latching onto Lochlan specifically is all the self-suffocating he's been doing to squash his homosexual urges, which is still a taboo in the Southern conservative culture he was raised in. Not just the self-suffocation, but also committing to a soulless toxic pursuit of pleasure that doesn't make him feel good, with women whose basic dignity he doesn't respect. That confluence of having to constantly sustain a backwards demeaning serial predatory sexual lifestyle, and the hideous unwanted lure of the taboo that he has worked so hard to ignore, has left him obsessive-compulsively sexualizing his brother in ways he seems to not have been cognizant of until the wake of the threesome. He has tragically become irreversibly aware of the most taboo taboo that he could commit (gay incest!) and he knows it gets him off. I'm sure that going hard with Adderall all day isn't helping with his compulsive agonizing about it.
Underneath it all, Saxon is starving and desperate to receive romantic love, and Lochlan is eager and happy to give anything at all if it means it will increase his value in Saxon's eyes and his standing in his life, which in turn will increase Lochlan's sense of purpose and selfhood. I feel like we have seen glimpses of Saxon's veneration/adoration of Lochlan, e.g. the near-religious ecstasy on his face when Lochlan runs his fingers through his hair, receiving Lochlan's kiss from below him like Lochlan is a god bestowing a blessing, and the way that no matter what he is talking about or doing, if Lochlan is there his eyeline will always be squarely focused on him.
Saxon will always be intensely worshipful and adoring of Lochlan no matter how big or small Lochlan's loving gestures, and always with a sense of gratitude exacerbated to extremes by a lifelong scarcity of intimacy. This is exactly the batshit intensity and devotion that Lochlan needs to continuously feed on to feel alive. Receiving the thrilling electricity of tangible love and affection from a compulsively generous person who sincerely cares for him is exactly the faith-giving, life-affirming meaning that Saxon needs in order to feel like life is worth living beyond the empty ideals that define him. In a universe where Saxon would be able to fully surrender to this way of living despite the moral taboo of it, and despite the explosive volatility of the situation should they be discovered, them choosing each other would be endlessly viable for them. If they let themselves anchor their sense of identity to each other, they would always match each other's intensity no matter how excessive or damaging, in a truly insane self-sustaining and self-consuming loop.
The supremely disturbing nuance that would be imbued to an already disturbing narrative by having Lochlan not reciprocate or match Saxon's sexual desire is so compelling to me and makes the idea of a sustained sexual relationship between them that much more disorienting. Insisting that the reason they're doing the things they're doing as a result of innate sexual desire for each other point blank is so boring to me.
I do think that they are morbid soulmates, but in a world where soulmates are made while you're here, not before you arrive in it. The conditions of Saxon's life turned him into a piece of shit, enforced the practice of toxic heterosexual masculinity, suffocated his queerness, and left him performing hypersexual posturing as a deflection. I don't think that Saxon would have harbored incestuous sexual urges for a brother if he had been raised in less toxic, amoral, and oppressive conditions, but his upbringing and what it made him has ostracized him from the rest of the world in a critical way, and Lochlan is the only lifeline he has. I don't think that Lochlan would have been willing to engage in a sexual relationship with a sibling just to feel seen if he hadn't been raised in isolation by parents who never cared much about him, but his upbringing and what it made him has ostracized him from the rest of the world in a critical way, and Saxon is the only lifeline he has. Their separate circumstances have fundamentally, harmfully impacted their development as human beings in different ways that would allow for perfect synchronicity when joined together. They will always be ripe to fall into a fucked up, insane position that has them feeding off each other's insecurities, perpetuating a cycle that will continuously augment their mutual need and obsession with each other, and it's going to be so fucking insane to see if they choose to resist that fact or give into it.

Regarding the “Is Marinette a Stalker?” post, I want to say thank you! Because I did something like Marinette and self-doubted my younger-self’s actions. A bit of context, I’m (37 y/o, female) one of the many adults that loved MLBCN when it started airing. When I came disappointed at the show by S4, I turned to the fandom to look out for fanfics, and was surprised by the salty side.
Don’t get me wrong, I kinda get the why’s and the reasons, and even though I enjoyed a Mari-salt fic titled “The Schedule” (iirc), I… sorta felt ashamed at myself? When I was 19, I fell in love with this guy, and it seemed that he liked me too. Our university had a system only for students where we could do lots of administrative stuff, like choosing our classes. At my time, there used to be a search tool on it to look out for our classmates’ schedules; in my curiosity, I searched for his just to see if we shared free periods. (Btw, today I do feel that it was wrong that my university had that function).
At my defense, after finding my crush’s schedule, I also searched for my friends’, just so I could organize with them to set up a table for our LAN parties. At the end my feelings weren’t reciprocated, my heartbreak ocurred close the next semester’s start, so I searched his schedule one more time, but just to avoid having classes with him.
When I read that Mari having Adrien’s schedule was “stalker behavior” I was like “OMG, was I a stalker? And worse, I was legally an adult!”, but I can’t remember my friends being creeped out by me. I don’t know if it is a subject whose meaning has evolved as time went on, or maybe it can change according to our different cultural/countries’ POV. But we do crazy stuff when we are young-adults, and worse when we are adolescents, add first love/crush feelings, and well… (just look at Hey, Arnold!’s Helga, she had it bad for Arnold and went to do stuff that by today’s standards is a serious case of bullying).
If the issue is the “breach of privacy” and the “3 years”, well, the first one isn’t touched on the show, maybe Mari got the pattern by observation, or Alya helped by asking Nino, or maybe even Chloe said something loudly, or my personal fan-favorite: as Class Rep, Marinette has access to that information to make easy her duties! And as for the second issue, they are 13-14 years old, my bet is that if their school makes fixated schedules for its students, so it wouldn’t be difficult to guess Adrien’s schedule for the next 3-years, and since his father was Marinette’s favorite designer, she might have followed his seasons releases, and might been easy for her to add it to Adrien’s schedule.
I want to clarify that I’m not looking to invalidate people’s feelings about this, or saying that they are wrong. In the end, we all must remember that Marinette is just a fictional adolescent character in a cartoon show, and cartoons will exaggerate actions just for the sake of the plot. We don’t like something about the characters’ actions and/or personalities? We teach and explain to the children why is wrong; and as adults, we tell ourselves to be wary if anything about it is in our daily actions, so we don’t fall into the “hating something that is a reflection of us” projection.
I like to think that I was a good adolescent and young adult that didn’t do anything morally or ethically bad, so it really freaked me out that part of the Marinette salt fandom. So, a thousand thanks! And sorry that your friend, cousin and you had to deal with that stuff.
(Post this ask is in reference to)
Before we get started, I wanted to say that your university having that feature seems incredibly dangerous. Most people are going to use it the harmless way that you did, but boy does that have the potential for misuse. Way better to let students decide if they want to share schedules on their own.
Anyway, while I will absolutely agree that the show occasionally takes Marinette too far, leading me to understand why her behavior bothers people, I think that biggest issue in her writing is actually something you sort of brought up:
I fell in love with this guy, and it seemed that he liked me too.
It sounds like you had some sort of relationship with your crush and that makes a world of difference to how your actions are going to be perceived by others. Checking the schedule of a guy you don't know? Kinda creepy. Checking the schedule of your friends including the friend you have a crush on? Normal.
Let's look at a personal example to show you what I mean. When I was in high school, I learned parts of my crush's schedule. On my way to lunch, I would purposely walk by the area where he hung out so that I could say "hi" to him as I walked past.
This statement probably raises some questions in your mind like how did I learn that he'd be there? The answer is incredibly innocent. I learned that part of his schedule by accident because his hangout spot because was also my hangout spot during my free periods. I just happened to go by one day to see a different friend and ran into him, thereby learning a bit of his schedule. After that, I took path A to lunch instead of path B because they took the same amount of time and I liked seeing him for two seconds every day.
It's also worth noting that we had the same hangout spot because we had a mutual friend group! We were in the same small club and spent a lot of time together. We even hung out together outside of school and club activities. We eventually dates for several years because he asked me out! So when I said, "hi" to him every day, it didn't shock anyone or creep him out because I wasn't some random girl. I was a friend taking a moment to acknowledge his existence before going about the rest of my day.
An additional mitigating detail is the fact that I could have told you details about several platonic friends' schedules because that's just what happens when you know people and pay attention to their lives. We all know random crap about the people we care about. Crushes simply enhance your attention, making you way more aware of everything you do, say, or think about this person. That heightened attention might make you feel creepy at times, but that feeling doesn't automatically make you creepy. It's more complicated than that. The details of the situation matter because there's a ton of nuance around this topic. Nuance that actually makes it hard to give examples because this stuff can be incredibly personal. What person A find cute and charming is a hard no for person B.
That nuances goes beyond crushes on people you're close with. For example, you don't need to stop going to your favorite coffee shop because the new barista is cute! You are not stalking them by maintaining your usual habits! You're not a bad person for experiencing attraction toward a person who is working! It only gets weird if you start crossing social boundaries like if you start asking them on a date every time you see them even though they are very clearly uninterested and you've never actually talked to them beyond simple pleasantries.
This is where we circle back to Miraculous.
While the early seasons of Miraculous gave Adrien and Marinette a few moments of friendship like playing games together in Gamer, those moments quickly stopped. By season three, they barely interacted. This happened for an obvious reasons. Miraculous is an episodic formula show in almost the purest sense of those terms. The writers have made it clear that the episodes are designed so that they can be watched in any order leading to all sorts of weird moments like Felix telling Marinette that Gabriel is Monarch only for her to act like this is new information in the next episode. This was explicitly done so that people who missed the first reveal didn't feel left out:
Talking about previous episodes, [the writers] then say that... the 5 last episodes of season 5 (Collusion - Revolution - Representation - Conformation - Recreation) go together and there is a direct continuation between them. (However, one of their rules as Miraculous writers is that these episodes can also be watched and understood independently.)
This ridiculous rule* means that the on-screen relationships can't develop and grow as that makes the show feel too serialized. This limitation meant that Adrien and Marinette could NOT become functional friends with a developing relationship as that would require a certain viewing order. The same was true for Ladybug and Chat Noir's relationship. They could not become stronger over time. They had to stay stagnant.
Without those friendships, Adrienette was reduced to being all about Marinette being unable to function around Adrien and Ladynoir was reduced to being all about Chat Noir flirting relentlessly while Ladybug constantly shot him down. The only side of the square that was allowed to be a true friendship was Marichat because they could interact without it leading to a romance since they weren't in love, which is a major problem since Adrienette is what became canon in spite of it having the substance of unset jello. How are we supposed to ship a couple that never knowingly interacted???
This inability to have developing relationships is why the writers wrote Marinette more like a fangirl than a friend with a crush. But fangirl behavior only plays well when there's a level of separation between the fan and the object of their affections. The fan can't actually know their crush because that makes the fan feel creepy and weird. This is Marinette's main problem. The thing that understandably turns a lot of viewers off. The way her crush is written simply doesn't fit the story canon is going with.
If Marinette and Adrien had been written as true friends and were allowed to have more of those early show moments where they did non-romantic things together, then Marinette would come across light-years more relatable than she does in canon even if her actions didn't change.
It's not that Marinette never has questionable moments, she absolutely does! It's just that a lot of those moments are only questionable because of the nature of her relationship with Adrien. They would all feel wildly different if Adrien was her close friend or boyfriend.
To see what I mean, think about how much less creepy it would have been if Marinette claimed to have Adrien's schedule after she and Adrien started dating. Your instant assumption becomes that he gave it to her! You also have the addition of Gabriel's controlling nature to mitigate the way Marinette's rickshaw date plan comes across. It goes from awkwardly over-the-top to sweet because she's just trying to find a way to spend a few minutes with her boyfriend whose life is too controlled to allow for proper dates. Same exact episode setup, wildly different read because context matters.
It really is sad how much the writing failed Marinette because it's normal to be a little weird around your crush. Wanting to get to know them better and spend time with them is completely understandable and common behavior! But the writers didn't just decide to keep Marinette and Adrien from being good friends. They also decided to give Marinette an active running gag of trying and failing to confess. This gag requires her crush to be extremely active while the show's formulaic nature meant that the crush could never have true progress. This lead to the show constantly putting Marinette in awkward positions and questionable situations. It's a terrible call if your goal is to actually tell a romance. They would have been way better off to make Marinette shy and afraid to confess as a contrast to Chat Noir's bold flirting. The most I'd do in that setup is to let her have the occasional secrete admirer thing where she leaves Adrien a gift or sends him a note like we saw in The Bubbler. That way a much stronger way to play Marinette's crush.
*Quick note: status quo rules are fine in shows that don't have overarching plots, but Miraculous is a romance with an overarching plot. Both of those elements require you to have some level of serialization to your story. I recently used ABC's Castle as an example of this. Almost every episode it a unique murder mystery, but the characters' relationships progress over time. There are also several plot lines that run through the show, leading to a handful of episodes that do need to be watched in order. Notably, all of the major status quo changes happen in that handful of serialized episodes. This is the type of show that Miraculous needed to be for its main story lines to work.
#anon ask#marinette deserves better#marinette defense squad#ml writing critical#ml writing salt#formula show problems#this doesn't just effect Marinette by the way#It's also why Chat Noir comes across terribly from time to time#The writing issues are rarely unique to any one character even if they may look slightly different from character to character#Felix Kagami Adrien Luka and Marinette all have very similar issues when you look at the problems with their romantic writing

maybe i should stay away from the tropes after all @patti7dc @papipascalispunk

Peri and Irep are more closely related to each other as opposites than the other fairies and anti fairies.
I have a question. We all know that fairies and anti fairies are opposites that change when each other changes in some quality. And for example, if Cosmo became smarter, then Anti Cosmo will become more… dumb. But why did it never work with Peri and Irep? They were both shown in the Wiki to have high intelligence from birth. Both the one who quickly learns magic, and the other who creates complex plans to take over the world. But what if they are connected to each other more strongly than the others? Like they are more sensitive to changes in each other (but at the same time can have similar qualities with each other). I noticed that Peri and Irep both go through some "emotional swings" like phases. For example, when they were still very small, then immediately after Foop’s birth he wanted to destroy his "double", essentially wanting to occupy the most important position. While Poof was the opposite of this and seemed to be in his “calm phase”. Later, by later episodes of season 7 and on, Foop became more down-to-earth. He already considered Poof more like his rival(frenemy) than an object for destruction. Poof, on the contrary, became more aggressive and uncontrollable (the moment with his crazy love for brownies was wild). And it was far from their “terrible twosome” phase. Foop even showed softer features. For example, he even became friends with Chloe to some extent, even protecting her from Vicky.

In the new show, Foop/Irep’s stronger desire to enslave and destroy as in season 7 returned, but this time things became "more complicated". That is, while he returned to his "old" self, Poof/Peri became more reserved and cautious. And here the culprit of such changes was Peri himself. And the reason, as I wrote earlier, is that he became more careful in using his magic. Which ultimately only worsened in later life, manifesting itself in his constant stress. What about Irep? Since Peri became more careful than before and began to strictly adhere to the rules while under stress,Irep, on the contrary, became more uncontrollable, not adhering to the rules and also tempts others to do the same. Many people wonder in the new show: "Why is Irep even trying to kill him? Has he forgotten that he himself will die because of this?" He understands but cannot restrain himself. Anti-fairies are essentially the opposite "reflection" of fairies, remember? But the situation with Foop/Irep is much more complicated than with the rest of the anti-fairies. Because both are stronger than the others. And that means both are more uncontrollable like in magical power and like in terms of emotions. And both essentially have split personalities that they clearly do not accept or do not want to show.

And you know, it seems to me that soon there will be a turning point between Peri and Irep that will change future episodes in the new show…
#fairly oddparents#fop#fairly odd parents a new wish#fop new wish#fop poof#peri fairywinkle cosma#fop foop#fop irep#fop cosmo#cosmo cosma#fop chloe#fop vicky#I am SURE that in future episodes we will see Irep from a softer side#if not even from a kinder side#with Peri it's the opposite of course

This week's chapter gives us great development in the Briar sibling's relationship and their outlook on it.
This is after 100+ chapters where we mostly see Yuri as obsessive.

Just here, I find Yuri's behavior endearing (trust me, weird and psychopathic if he were a real guy), with how unashamedly outward appreciation he shows for his sister. Although, I'm still more concerned for his dependence on her as his source of his raison d'être. (I see this slowly changing with him giving more time and mental capacity to Chloe and his sss buddies. His network expanding to more than Yor!).
I'm drawing attention to ABDUCTED. We know Yuri feels Yor was snatched away, but he's not saying she was ABDUCTED FROM HIM, BUT ABDUCTED BY. Yuri's pinning the blame on Loid, but importantly, HE DOESN'T BLAME YOR AND HE DOESN'T BLAME HIMSELF (for not being there). That's a little interesting, Yuri isn't the sort to self-flagellate despite spending so much thinking time in the past.

In the mid-20th century, middle-class women found themselves responsible for more of the housework, compared to the early 20th C such families had maids. Becoming a servant through marriage is a real issue, ongoing today with studies showing women's household workloads to often triple after marriage. Yor's fortunate to not have that, and Yuri's acknowledged Loid's culinary skills, but I'm interested by how he tries to reason with her.
BRAINWASHING
Remember Melinda's fear which shuts down her thought process and how Demetrius' mind is near empty? Donovan's thought process appears extraterrestrial.
The Authens, especially Sigmund Authen, psudenym for Freud. The guy with Dream Theory and some less savory ideas... Still about the mind, perception, and how our fears manifest themselves in our dreams.
Anya's memory of her mother and talk of a butterfly's freedom. Themes opposite to mind control. Now we've got Yuri introducing brainwashing (from his earlier sss work).
I haven't yet a strong theory of why, but I'm pointing this pattern out now. What is Endo-sensei building up to?

Yor realises her plan to put Yuri at ease didn't work out at all. She's very open about it, talking softly. Telling her little brother, whom she's always prioritised above herself and always had a smile for, just how she felt is a massive step for her. She used to brush her feelings aside and prioritise on the other thing which brought her joy back then (killing), to bring light back to her eyes.

She makes the distinction that she didn't marry to appease loneliness (we know why she did) but her reflection is about what she's gained. Who she is now. Moving forwards.

This deeply affects Yuri, who realises this new routine is set to stay when Yor says she loves this city. I still hope for a Nielsberg mountain trip in the future however.

Yuri's room reminds me of Yor's at the beginning. Bare of trinkets and newer memories, utilitarian and not a place to truly live in... It's a room for function and purpose, not a home.

At the end of the chapter there is a great sense of remorse and loneliness from Yuri, eating multiple biscuits to drown his grief and melancholy with his new understanding. It's striking that he's eating many biscuits, not just half of one like he did as a child, to try to shush his upset. He's indulging himself in past sentiments, yet I bet he'd feel better if he shared half of one with Yor.

Now the biggest development in the chapter is Yuri's understanding of WHY he feels so distant from Yor and WHY it feels like it's growing. The ABDUCTION by the Forgers couldn't cross the entirety of that gap, nor spoiling his sister. The change is HIM.
Yor's lived with her shadow work secret for most her life, but this is much newer for Yuri who had a close life with his sister before this, free from apparent secrets. It's weighed on him this entire time, it still will, until the psychological toll will finally break him, or like Anya, he won't be believed - which might just be worse.

Chloe’s likely had her time to self reflect, but not for the good reasons people hope. Chloe wasn’t ashamed for what she did in “Revolution”, she was upset she lost everything that gave her a sense of power over everyone in Paris. Audrey’s plans to educate Chloe may teach her how to obtain the power she wants.

So is the "don't remember names of daughters" a tsundere thing from Audrey or she does it unconsciously???
(also idk if you answerd this alredy but what about Zoe's dad?)
It's def not a tsundere thing, it's an Audrey thing. It's also a thing that I cannot for the life of me justify? It'd be one thing if she got her daughters mixed up with each other, with them looking on the surface similar (blonde hair, blue eyes), and having close enough names, like she did in "Adoration"...but she called Chloe "Casserole" at one point.
Hilarious, sure, but like, wtf Audrey, how do you even fuck up that badly?
And one more time for the cheap seats, this is in no way my explanation for Audrey in canon, this is purely SL's Version of Audrey. I cut out her ordering around the Butler and Andre and left out her falling for Chloe because Chloe was being an asshole to the same Butler, and obviously we never got as far as she did in "Revolution" where she was in near happy tears when her Mayor Daughter went full dictator on Paris. Just like Lila, I cut her off at the knees before she could become her true awful self, but that does not reflect on how I feel about the canon characters.
I made Audrey a tsundere to give Chloe a freaking chance.
#I could rant on the terrible evolution of the tsundere archetype in anime#but since this show likes to *occassionally* pull inspiration from anime (on like the most basic of surface levels)#it felt apt to apply it here#sl ask#sl:audrey
