i think possibly my favorite anakinism and one i think about a rather unhealthy amount is his body language and how he almost always looks viscerally uncomfortable and vaguely like a child who is scared of getting slapped. even when he’s being confrontational he looks sooo defensive like wow girl you have never fully processed anything that’s happened to you and you will carry the weight of it forever
#every time i watch those movies i look at him move and i'm like oh my god he really just carries his trauma everywhere doesn't he#his physicality is so weird!! i’m obsessed with it. scared child but also dog ready to maul yanno#anakin skywalker#star wars#star wars prequels#keat.txt

It's so funny that everyone immediately called Eddie gay for doing the Risky Business dance and he is but he also just beat for beat recreated what Tom Cruise did in Risky Business and. well.
#‘ryan did it sexier and better’ okay first of all tom is 19 here and is supposed to be a child dancing around his living room#furthermore. no. I love ryan but no. hope this helps.#it’s not supposed to be sexy it’s supposed to be freeing and awkward and funny you’re just attracted to a 37 year old over a 19 year old#I’m very glad you’re all more sexually attracted to the 37 year old over the 19 year old who looks 12 but don’t lie.#911 abc#Eddie Diaz#tom cruise#risky business#911 poasting#just as an aside: if you want to grasp how long tom cruise has been a movie star—thee movie star#he already had a star on the walk of fame by the time ryan guzman was born

Yk, I hate that adaptations keep making Peter a high schooler, and not just because it means he never evolves, but because the adaptations now also include wider Marvel, whitch usually (thanks to the MCU) is at the modern day stage with legacy characters and new age teen heroes, meaning that Peter is taking up Miles' spot and you can really tell when they put him next to someone like Kamala Khan or Sam Alexander who are Miles' pals. Tho Peter taking Miles' stuff is just a modern issue overall, just look at MCU whitch just stole and re-skinned Miles' personality, characters, story-beats, even the costume to an extent and then made it worse.
agree 👏
#sci speaks#sci. release the script doctor you did where it actually was miles in the mcu and peter parker is a grown ass man.#it was funny. peter was a really bad intern at stark industries#who stole stark tech on the sly.#and of course. tony catches wind of this because he has cameras everywhere and. those cameras happened to also catch.#him sneaking out of work as spider-man.#and tony ropes him into civil war or whatever because otherwise he could Literally press charges.#and peter's :((((((((#begrudgingly joins tony's side.#in the post credit we see that he's been gathering stark tech to build miles morales some very neato webshooters.#and voil.a. miles is the star of homecoming and. peter is the mentor figure that encourages miles to start small.#miles: but YOU teamed up with the avengers a#peter: do as i SAY not as i DO.#sighs. so little would have to change.#but no more child soldiers and no more over exposure of tony stark. fantastic. superb.#also showing a slightly sneakier peter parker who isn't exactly entirely morally upstanding.#steals from billionares while they're not looking to serve the people who need it.#robin hood figure !! sexy. would falll to my knees for a peter parker like that. would be my favourite on screen peter ever.#and it puts him more in an interesting spot with the villains in the movies too.#if we still go with the route of all the villains being affiliated with stark tech and stealing / using stark tech#then peter is like. in a more complex role in the story. he stole stark tech too. is he better than the criminals?#he uses it for good. he thinks. but that's his judgement.#just i think it would be neat. all the “you're just like me” rhetoric falls so flat in those movies.#but what if it hit different.#but that would be if marvel had the courage to make a complex spider-man movie#where peter parker is allowed to make morally complex decisions asides for “uhh. stupid kid makes stupid mistakes”#sci talks movies

King Magnifico Backstory Part 2
(Sorry it took so long. The holiday rush caught up with me, and it hasn't ended yet, so this is probably gonna be a three parter, actually. But here's the link to Part 1 and some other meta that connects to the backstory!)
The young man and his new bride sailed through time and space, through storms and starlight, out into the sea of a new world
Their ship crashed upon the shores of an island, on which stood the remains of a great castle and above which shown a brilliant star, shining as if it were a good omen that here they could build a new home for themselves
And such a home they built. The magic of the young man seemed to swell even greater beneath the light of the star--(the star he did not know was the home of his own fairy godmother)-- and as he and Amaya built their new home, others began to flock to them, as if also drawn there by the star.
The young couple welcomed them, and the young man used his magic to aid them in their dreams in exchange for their help in creating a new kingdom, where he hoped to be able to use his powers to bless those worthy of it--for he still felt the swell of love and happiness and wonder that came from helping to grant the wishes of others, so powerful it felt almost tangible at times.
They called the island Rosas, after the favorite flower of Amaya, and took the rose and the shining star above them as their symbols. Indeed, the star was already engraven on many parts of the now refurbished castle.
And soon enough, with the help of their new friends and subjects and the magic that flowed around them, a beautiful kingdom rose up, with Amaya as Queen, and the young man the people began to call “Magnifico” as King.
As the years passed, King Magnifico granted many wishes, and Rosas grew in prestige and beauty, people from the farthest flung places in the world began to flock to it, seeking its joy and bounty, and the chance to have their wishes granted.
Eventually the kingdom's population grew so great and so quickly that Magnifico--who had learned his lesson on granting wishes indiscriminately--decreed that only those who had lived in Rosas for a year and a day would have their wishes granted, and only then their greatest wish--so as to have time to prove their character and loyalty. Eventually this was raised to three years, then five, and finally all those who were born in Rosas and reached 18 were to have their wish granted, once per month at a grand ceremony.
To help aid and protect his new home, Magnifico studied magics both great and small, dark and light. He had books brought to him from all the lands that came to Rosas, and--though he did not know it at first-- the natural magic that drifted down from Rosas's guardian wishing star helped to aid him in becoming one of the greatest sorcerers in this new world, where magic was not as bountiful as the one he had been born in. One so great he managed to mostly stave off even old age for himself and his beloved queen, so as to keep their kingdom stable and secure
(And perhaps there was something of vanity within this. Having been starved of true affection for so long, Magnifico had became rather susceptible to flattery, and took perhaps more pride in his appearance then was healthy).
But for all his powers, and all his ability to grant the wishes of others, Magnifico found over the years that he was unable to grant the greatest wish shared between him and Amaya--to have a child of their own.
At last, one night, in desperation, remembering the vague story he had heard of his own birth, he wished upon the star above them.
And the star answered.
They named the child Maroula, “Wished for Child, or, Star of the Sea”, as she was born with the mark of a star on her forehead
The couple adored their daughter, as did the whole kingdom. Neither Rosas nor its rulers ever knew greater happiness than in caring for the young princess and watching her grow.
One day though, as young Maroula was playing in the rose garden of the palace, she heard a soft voice calling to her, though she could not see from where.
“Maroula, Maroula, wished-for-child of a wished-for-child. Great will be your power, but great too will be the trials that come to you from it. Would you face them when you are young, or old?”
And the little princess thought, “Far better to get anything bad over with sooner than later. Then, once it's done,I can live happily ever after without worrying about it”
So she answered “When I'm young”
"So be it" said the voice, and faded away...
And yet the years went by without any sign of these promised trials, until Maroula had grown into a beautiful young woman.
The princess has always been close with her father, and over the years he had taught her magic as well, and eventually she became his official apprentice, as well as his heir
Maroula studied hard, and became wonderfully proficient in all manner of spells and sorcery, helping her parents to bless their kingdom and aid in its prosperity
All seemed well, until the eve of the Princess's 18th birthday…

Tw SA/Grooming/child abuse
Honestly the Anakin Skywalker saga is a warning tale about the dangers of fame and celebrity for young people who get chosen by it, and probably more deeply a major siren sound for grooming young stars.
Anakin’s force power (aka talent/looks/aura/etc) is noticed at an extremely early age. The boy is severed from his family (qui-gonn and Shmi, I know that’s a reach) by an agent/stooge (Darth maul) working for the industry at large (obviously Palpatine/the empire)
Once that’s done, the industry allows for a milk and honey period wherein they make the young person feel safe, loved, and important, but it’s all a very thin mirage hiding a more sinister plot. And scarily, both the “good” and “bad” sides all work unknowingly in league with each other (Jedi/government/Sith). Anakin gets his milk and honey phase through the Jedi’s reluctant acceptance of him into their order, Obi Wan’s brother/father-like role (which he didn’t want initially), a hollow, possibly marionetted but very passionate relationship (Padme), and the spoils of his own talent (Anakin becomes a war hero during the Clone Wars, reinforcing the chosen one narrative). Child celebs get fame drunk, child Anakin got more and more drunk on the idea that he was the chosen one—fed to him by everyone who knew him.
Once this has all taken hold, this is when the more sinister hands step in and fully isolate young celebs from anyone that has their best interest at heart. The industry (Palpatine) drives division between the child and their family/friend support system to make the child most vulnerable to their own plans (manipulating Anakin into believing the Jedi’s corruption was deeper than it was, forcing a separation from Obi-Wan by driving the Padme relationship??, continuing to glow up Anakin’s overinflated sense of self, finding ways to convey betrayal by Anakin’s close friends, driving doubt into Anakin’s mind about his own values separate from the industry’s)
Finally, when all of this is complete, the claws go in. The child is disconnected from any outside support system or outside voice of reason and care, and they are left only with the weaseled words of evil men in disgusting power, ready to use them for their own bidding. This happens for Anakin when he finally defeats Dooku and Palpatine convinces him to whack the Count. This is the point of no return, the moment that Palpatine knows he can go back to whenever Anakin expresses a future doubt. He has now made Anakin complicit in the larger evil of his empire, transformed him into that empire’s most powerful agent, and totally robbed him of his ability to think or act on his own as well as any shred of self-reliance he once had.
From there, it’s a nasty spiral that leaves a young, very exploited victim in the center of millions of others.
Anyway this went longer than I was planning

star wars fandom is awesome because you can say something like “a militarized religious institution having child soldiers is bad” and you’ll actually have people try to be like “UM ACTUALLY”
#how dare you critique the institutions in the Critiquing Institutions movies#even if it goes beyond authorial intent who cares. child soldiers are a bad thing to have#the jedi order#star wars#star wars prequels#keat.txt
