i think possibly my favorite anakinism and one i think about a rather unhealthy amount is his body language and how he almost always looks viscerally uncomfortable and vaguely like a child who is scared of getting slapped. even when he’s being confrontational he looks sooo defensive like wow girl you have never fully processed anything that’s happened to you and you will carry the weight of it forever

at the end of the day when it comes to padmé i think it’s really important to remember that her closest friends are literally her employees. her only other friends are her coworkers. her closest friend for years was a girl she met at 14 whose job it was to pretend to be her and potentially die about it. another friend with the same job died in her arms while pretending to be her. she does not have friends outside of her squad of employees who pretend to be her and sometimes die about it and then her politician coworkers. too many of you are way too surprised that this woman is not normal about love or relationships or her own self considering all this

i understand we are all excited bc of the new season announcement but why am i seeing fans recommend black butler to people on purpose that’s so mean. black butler is something that happens to you much like a car accident or natural disaster

obi-wan is such a good character when you don’t have a bitch in your ear telling you he’s the saddest specialest boy in the world who did nothing wrong and suffered more than jesus. and that is My take

big fan of padmé traits that people like to dismiss as inconsistencies or writing flaws or reasons to dislike her. love how she’s idealistic to a fault. love her moral inconsistencies. love her staunch refusal to not see the best in those she loves. i find it much more fun to engage with these aspects of her than decry them as making no sense

sabédala is awesome when you lean away from viewing it as the healthy alternative for padmé and lean towards how deeply psychologically weird everything about it is. i love you inherent hierarchy i love you dog/handler dynamic i love you coexistence of romantic desire and sisterly devotion and straight up power imbalance i love you unhealthily losing your sense of self in another person i love you unequal investment

i think a lot of people look at anidala as a kind of opposites attract type situation which inherently makes a lot of talk abt then boring cuz i’d argue that a lot of their whole deal relies on them not actually being that different past the surface. they were both robbed of their childhoods to differing degrees, they’re both duty-bound within very repressive environments, they both ended up with somewhat fractured senses of identity as a result, they both have strong senses of justice, they’re both impulsive, they both love very intensely and quite recklessly…their differences are kinda only interesting if you take into account the ways in which they are very similar

one rather insane thing about the clone wars is how obi-wan is actually the one who requested ahsoka as a padawan. like he really spent a whole decade being rather unsubtle about how much he Did Not Want To Be Anakin’s Guardian but then like 5 seconds after anakin is knighted he requested a new padawan. and then the council was like no let’s give her to anakin instead? like imagine having a dad who doesn’t want u and then the minute u leave for college he has another baby. but then it becomes your baby for like, reasons. what do u even do then. if i were anakin i would’ve punched the guy and then killed myself. what the fuck

i have for many years not been fond of the “padmé brings a knife to mustafar” concept and the consequential “padmé kills anakin” au concept and that is largely bc a) she would not do that and b) a lot of the obsession with it feels symptomatic of the larger phenomenon of people being like “i love padmé but i wish she was blah blah blah” and then describing an entirely different character BUT i have been having fun playing with it in my head lately bc it’s interesting to put her in that situation and then try to keep her in character. and i have concluded that the Correct vibes of any padmé kills anakin au has to be very adjacent to louis killing lestat in amc interview with the vampire. and that does include the going insane from guilt and grief after

like it has to be this. it has to be tender. it has to be tender and reluctant and teary and romantic and it has to destroy her. yanno. YANNO. like sorry she doesn’t give a fuck about duty or the greater good the minute anakin is in her line of sight so if she ever ever ever decided to kill him For The Greater Good (which is genuinely the only way i see it happening) it would end like this. he’d probably let her do it and she’d be a blubbering mess the whole time and she would not be letting that corpse go. and she would regret it!! she would regret it so much. probably forever. she’s never moving on i’ll tell ya that much.
anyway the point of this is i think it’s padmé’s turn to have guilt-induced hallucinations of her dead wife

star wars fandom is awesome because you can say something like “a militarized religious institution having child soldiers is bad” and you’ll actually have people try to be like “UM ACTUALLY”

i guess it’s an ahsoka posting kinda day but i kind of always feel insane about her bc she is one of the most obvious manifestations about how the jedi order is Awful, Actually and the narrative is like. only halfway aware of that. remember that time she (aged 14) led an entire squadron and they all fucking died. remember how when she left the order (SHE WAS STILL A CHILD BTW) she had no resources whatsoever and was living on the streets. remember how her whole deal is that the order decided to give her to a guy they did not trust and had at the frontlines of a war like for character-building reasons. and u expect me to buy that she doesn’t hold immense and unending resentment about that?? her whole deal as an adult ISN’T being little miss child soldier trauma cult survivor?? come ONNNNN

i’m actually kinda tired of padmé analysis being viewed as reading into it or going against authorial intent or whatever because things don’t get written into movies by accident and as underwritten as padmé can be i don’t think it’s just a big oopsie that you can look and what the films present and pull a coherent and interesting character out of them. if 2+2=4 why are we assuming the second 2 wasn’t actually supposed to be there

every time i post abt the jedi a bit too much my for you tab gets flooded with awesome jedi apologist posts arguing things like “child soldiers are okay if the children have superpowers” and “anakin wanting his wife to be alive was possessive and selfish”

i just think that if Everyone was like me and understood that anakin skywalker is a Woman and anidala is therefore Homosexual we’d be in a better place as a society. and you would all like and understand star wars a lot more

the queen trilogy by ekj is like aggressively fine and i have many bones to pick but i think one of the biggest issues i have with it is that they had the absolutely golden opportunity to really expand on cordé and versé and make their deaths more impactful + shed light on padmé’s subsequent grief and then they just. did not do that
