In a move that underscores the growing influence of AI in the financial industry, JPMorgan Chase has unveiled a cutting-edge generative AI product. This new tool, LLM Suite, is being hailed as a game-changer and is capable of performing tasks traditionally assigned to research analysts.
According to an internal memo obtained by the Financial Times, JPMorgan has granted employees in its asset and wealth management division access to this large language model platform. The memo, jointly signed by key executives Mary Erdoes, head of JPMorgan’s asset and wealth management business, Teresa Heitsenrether, the bank’s chief data and analytics officer, and Mike Urciuoli, the asset and wealth management unit’s chief information officer, describes LLM Suite as a “ChatGPT-like product” designed for “general purpose productivity.”
The purpose of the platform is to change how employees work with their daily tasks, and it has various functions, including writing, helping to generate ideas, and document summarisation. The memo states, “Think of LLM Suite as a research analyst that can offer information, solutions, and advice on a topic.” Additionally, it is not an AI tool that performs functions by itself but an addition to the firm’s existing applications for handling financial information carefully—Connect Coach and SpectrumGPT.
JPMorgan began the process of providing access to the LLM Suite to several of its departments earlier this year, representing a gradual implementation of the new system. At this point, an estimated 50,000 employees, or about 15% of the organisation’s workforce, can access the new platform. The number of research analysts who work for JPMorgan is not revealed, but the fact that the innovation affects so many employees from various departments raises the question of its relevance to traditional roles.
It is worth mentioning that this is one of the most extensive implementations of large language models on Wall Street. For example, Morgan Stanley has started developing AI products built by OpenAI to improve their wealth management businesses. However, JPMorgan distinguishes itself from other financial organisations by developing its own AI tool, LLM Suite. A powerful reason to create the LLM Suite internally is the high level of regulation in the financial services domain.
According to the strict regulations typical for any financial organisation, JPMorgan workers are not allowed to use any AI chatbots developed by other companies for consumers. These include Anthropic’s Claude, OpenAI’s GPT, and Google’s Gemini. Another reason is to ensure that customer information remains on the bank’s servers safe and sound.
As a company actively involved in the use of AI for enhancing services to its clients, JPMorgan Bank CEO Jamie Dimon made a statement to investors in May: “AI is going to change every job. It may eliminate some jobs. Some of it may create additional jobs.” He went further to state, “But you can’t envision one app, one database, or one job where it’s not going to help, aid, or abet.” Such a statement reflects the bank’s forward-looking attitude towards AI.
Already, AI technologies contribute a significant amount of money to the bank. According to Daniel Pinto, the president of the bank, the value of AI technology currently in use is $1 to $1.5 billion. This fact shows that the effect of AI adoption is significant for the bank, which means it is also beneficial for society.
Despite the fact that the release of LLM Suite is a breakthrough in AI implementation in the financial sphere, it is still possible to note that the technology has some drawbacks. Specifically, like any other AI model, LLM Suite may not work with sufficient accuracy, may “hallucinate,” or provide false data as correct information. Nevertheless, the memo does not discuss these issues or whether they exist.

Personality: 
Although he may come across as gruff and unfriendly, Commander Olo is a rather caring soul. He worries deeply about those under his command, especially those who are newer to the army. He has a special soft spot for rookies. He’s highly protective, and would do anything to protect the soldiers (or civilians) under his care. 
Olo is a dog person, he enjoys other animals for sure, but dogs are definitely his favorite. 
Olo doesn’t often explain his actions beforehand, instead, doing whatever he has to to ensure the plan is followed through. Afterwards, if there’s time and questions, he’ll answer calmly. But usually, those who serve under him recognize that he’s been at this for quite a while, and trust his judgment. 
Story:
Olo is a soldier in the government, having worked with them since he was a young adult. He rose through the ranks rather quickly, and was assigned to the Mira HQ as a part of the security detail. It was mostly a figurehead position, but he was able to work with the scientists training the space-born animals. 
He gained quite the companion in a blue dog, that he privately named Ora, after his sister. Days on Mira passed in tranquility, and although he would never later admit it, Olo grew somewhat complacent.
And then Ora found a body. It was rather horrifying. To discover the body of someone he had just seen in the cafeteria not ten minutes prior. But the body was clearly old, with a large, circular stab wound. 
Olo spearheaded the mission to imprison the false Doctor, and it was he who first witnessed the transformation from human to…thing. The alien was slimy, with a long tongue, and far, far too many teeth. 
Olo was able to kill the Imposter, and he was sent back to Earth for debriefing. Olo was sent from base to base, to help train new recruits, before being sent out on further missions, in a cycle that lasted for three years. 
At one point, Olo discovered a pair of aliens that called themselves Spiree. They were winged, gentle, and had intense protective instincts. They were a peaceful race, and Olo hid them from the rest of the Government. They were shapeshifters like the Imposters, and it was easy to disguise them and provide alibis. Eventually, they moved on to a planet deeper in the system, and Olo was happy to let them go, hoping they would find safety. 
During the fourth year of the War, it was decided that Olo, now a Commander, would be stationed in Polus, as that planet’s base was under particularly heavy fire. 
Olo served on Polus for the rest of the war, training rookies, fighting Imposters ,and keeping the base afloat. After a particularly hard series of events, Olo managed to finally convince the government to stop using Polus as a training ground, and get them to send him some more experienced soldiers. There were…less deaths, following that decision. Both from voting out believed Imposters and from Imposters killing the soldiers. 
Olo grew to be friends with his main crew, consisting of Chief Medical Officer Rouvan, Generals Rynn and Joris, and Officers Jitil and Odil. There was also a young Private who held the record for longest-lived new recruit on Polus, named Kyle. While other soldiers constantly moved on and off base, the seven of them stayed together for over a year. 
However, one night, there simply stopped being Imposters to fight. The soldiers stayed on base for a few more months, during which Olo discovered the secret of General Joris. He listened to their story, and although he felt no remorse for those that had killed his troops, he did wish the aliens the best of luck as they tried to live in a peace they had not known for generations. He even taught Joris several things the deceased general had not been able to, during those months with little else to do.
 But without anything to fight, the government finally called the soldiers home. While the seven friends were split across Earth, Olo managed to stay in closer communication with the gold and silver siblings. And although he spent several long months completing paperwork that simply could not have been done from across space, he kept an eye on their missions, as well as the missions of the other four. 
Olo, after his successes in the war, was placed in charge of dealing with the Toppats. He spearheaded several missions, some succeeded while others failed. Finally, after catching wind of a submarine that would be playing a key role in several upcoming missions, he was able to recall one of his friends to place them as the key member of the infiltration. Officer Odil went undercover, and Olo served as her contact.
After the mission went rather south, Olo recalled Odil, as well as her brother from the separate mission he had been on, and the three were set to enjoy some much deserved downtime.
Until they were called back for a top secret mission. Apparently, a high risk prisoner was being transported offworld, and would need to be escorted overseas in order to be processed at the space dock. The three soldiers would be placed somewhat undercover onboard a cruise liner. The official excuse for their presence being their vacation, however they would also have the prisoner within their sights at all times. The prisoner was being allowed a small measure of freedom aboard the ship, in exchange for the intel she had provided in exchange to be transported to the space prison.
However, the cruise didn’t go as smoothly as planned. Instead, the ship was attacked by a Toppat missile, in retaliation for some of the more…recent missions that had succeeded in preventing Toppat plans. 
Thankfully, all three soldiers as well as the prisoner survived the crash, however, there were also civilian survivors that would need watching over, as well as dealing with the inhabitants of the previously undiscovered island the survivors had found themselves on.
Olo did his best to keep the survivors calm, even going so far as to aid them in disposing of bodies as needed. However, he was helping them at the cost of wearing himself out. He grew more and more tired as the days went by, until one day, when he heard the soft voice in the back of his head, he gave into it. Allowing the Fungle into his mind. It calmed him, helping him move with a sureness he hadn’t felt in months. However, the two Officers quickly realized that he was no longer himself. 
Although Olo (or perhaps the Fungle) realized what was happening when Odil and Jitil lured him out to the beach early one morning, he put up no resistance. He recognized that they were doing what they believed best, and he knew through the hivemind of the Fungle that they were doing what they thought he would want as well. 
And on some level, he must have agreed with their plans, because he did not fight them. He simply smiled reassuringly at Odil, even as Jitil went behind his back, and forced the Taser against the nape of his neck.

brief history / headcanons ; the chief medical officer of first the city of iacon and then the autobot cause, none can doubt ratchet's ability to heal. his skills are unmatched. his sole purpose is dedicated to the service of others; to ensuring that others may live as painlessly as possible. and the upgrades he has received only further this point. after graduation from iacon academy, ratchet obtained a number of special upgrades intended to better aid his patients. examples include: the sensitivity in his hands and fingers were upgraded beyond normal capabilities; this allows him to be able to identify and solve problems as quickly and efficiently as possible. a secondary spark chamber was installed, nestled close to his own, for situations in which a patient's spark requires life support while the body is repaired. before the war, ratchet was a sought-after medic in iacon who offered aid to all, even those who could not afford it. this often put him at odds with his first husband, a fellow medic. though the reason the two fell out is often verse-dependent, the loss of their children is often a major influence. at the end of the day, ratchet is on the side of life. he is not a politician. he does not care for the nuances of war, or autobot verses decepticon. because of this, in certain verses, he has chosen to become neutral, and open his own clinic to better serve all who need his aid.

The MIT Corporation — the Institute’s board of trustees — has elected 10 full-term members, who will serve one-, two-, or five-year terms, and two life members. Corporation Chair Mark P. Gorenberg ’76 announced the election results today.
The full-term members are: Nancy C. Andrews, Dedric A. Carter, David Fialkow, Bennett W. Golub, Temitope O. Lawani, Michael C. Mountz, Anna Waldman-Brown, R. Robert Wickham, Jeannette M. Wing, and Anita Wu. The two life members are: R. Erich Caulfield and David M. Siegel. Gorenberg was also reelected as Corporation chair.
As of July 1, the Corporation will consist of 80 distinguished leaders in education, science, engineering, and industry. Of those, 24 are life members and eight are ex officio. An additional 25 individuals are life members emeritus.
The 10 new term members are:
Nancy C. Andrews PhD ’85, executive vice president and chief scientific officer, Boston Children’s Hospital
Andrews is a biologist and physician noted for her research on iron diseases and her roles in academic administration. She currently serves as executive vice president and chief scientific officer at the Boston Children’s Hospital and professor of pediatrics in residence at Harvard Medical School. She previously served for a decade as the first female dean of the Duke University School of Medicine. After graduating from medical school, she completed residency and fellowship at BCH, joining the faculty at Harvard as an assistant professor in 1993. From 1999 to 2003, Andrews served as director of the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology MD-PhD program, and then was appointed professor of pediatrics and dean for basic sciences and graduate studies at Harvard Medical School. Andrews currently serves on the boards of directors of Novartis, Charles River Laboratories, and Maze Therapeutics.
Dedric A. Carter ’98, MEng ’99, MBA ’14, chief innovation officer, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Carter currently serves as the vice chancellor for innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development and chief innovation officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has cabinet-level responsibility for the entrepreneurship, innovation, economic development, and commercialization portfolios at the university through Innovate Carolina and the Innovate Carolina Junction, a new hub for catalyzing innovation and accelerating entrepreneurial invention located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, among other oversight and engagement roles. Prior to his appointment, he was the vice chancellor for innovation and chief commercialization officer at Washington University in St. Louis. Before that, he served as the senior advisor for strategic initiatives in the Office of the Director at the U.S. National Science Foundation, in addition to serving as the executive secretary to the U.S. National Science Board executive committee.

Fialkow currently serves as managing director of General Catalyst Partners, a venture capital firm that makes early-stage and transformational investments in technology and consumer companies. With business partner Joel Cutler, Fialkow built and sold several companies prior to founding General Catalyst Partners in 2000. Early in his career, he worked for the investment firm Thomas H. Fialkow studied film at Colgate University and continues to produce documentaries with his wife, Nina, focused on health care and social justice.

In 1988, Golub was one of eight people to start BlackRock, Inc., a global asset management company. In March of 2022, he stepped down from his day-to-day activities at the company to assume a part-time role of senior policy advisor. Formerly, he served as chief risk officer with responsibilities that included investment, counterparty, technology, and operational risk, and he chaired BlackRock’s Enterprise Risk Management Committee. Beginning in 1995, he was co-head and founder of BlackRock Solutions, the company’s risk advisory business. He also served as the acting CEO of Trepp, LLC. a former BlackRock affiliate that pioneered the creation and distribution of data and models for collateralized commercial-backed securities, beginning in 1996. Lawani, a Nigerian national, is the co-founder and managing partner of Helios Investment Partners, LLP, an Africa-focused private investment firm based in London. He also serves as co-CEO of Helios Fairfax Partners, an investment holding company. Prior to forming Helios in 2004, Lawani was a principal at the San Francisco and London offices of TPG Capital, a global private investment firm. Before that, he worked as a mergers and acquisitions and corporate development analyst at the Walt Disney Company. Lawani serves on the boards of Helios Towers, Pershing Square Holdings, and NBA Africa. He is also a director of the Global Private Capital Association and The END Fund, and has served on the boards of several public and private companies across various sectors.
Michael C. Mountz ’87, principal, Kacchip LLC
Michael “Mick” Mountz is a logistics industry entrepreneur and technologist known for inventing the mobile robotic order fulfillment approach now in widespread use across the material handling industry. In 2003, Mountz, along with MIT classmate Peter Wurman ’87 and Raffaelo D’Andrea co-founded Kiva Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of this mobile robotic fulfillment system. After Kiva, Mountz established Kacchip LLC, a technology incubator and investment entity to support local founders and startups, where Mountz currently serves as principal. Before founding Kiva, Mountz served as a director of business process and logistics at online grocery delivery company Webvan, and before that he served as a product marketing manager for Apple Computer working on the launch of the G3 and G4 series Macintosh desktops. Mountz holds over 40 U.S. technology patents and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2022.
Anna Waldman-Brown ’11, SM ’18, PhD ’23
Through her work with the Fab Lab network, which spun off from the MIT Center for Bits and Atoms, Waldman-Brown has worked with international policymakers and grassroots innovators across more than 60 countries to foster creative problem-solving and sustainable development. She helped build up and connect fab labs across dozens of countries, co-organized two week-long fab lab conferences and developed the ongoing Fab Festival, curated open-source development of an early Maker Map and several lists of academic articles related to the Maker Movement, and finalized an official collaboration with Autodesk and the international Fab Lab network. In addition to providing informal mentorship and support for students across the Institute, Waldman-Brown became involved in the burgeoning MIT Grad Student Union (GSU)/UE Local 256 around 2019 to advocate for practical solutions to improving graduate student life and health and safety. Her current work as an industrial strategy policy analyst is through the Made in America Office, which is part of the Executive Office of the President’s Office of Management and Budget.
R. Robert Wickham ’93, SM ’95, president, MIT Alumni Association
Skilled in building go-to-market teams, strategic planning, operational management, and delivering results, Wickham has held leadership roles at Salesforce and Oracle, and gained foundational experiences in management consulting and entrepreneurship. As the former general manager of Tableau Asia Pacific, a Salesforce business unit, Wickham spearheaded significant growth initiatives. Before joining Salesforce, Wickham led Oracle’s Engineered Systems business across Australia and New Zealand, and the System Management business in North America. He joined Oracle through its acquisition of Empirix Web Division, where he ran sales for North America.
Jeannette M. Wing ’78, SM ’79, PhD ’83, executive vice president for research, Columbia University
Wing is the executive vice president for research and professor of computer science at Columbia University, and previously served as Avanessians Director of the Data Science Institute. Wing’s current research interests are in trustworthy AI, and her areas of research expertise include security and privacy, formal methods, programming languages, and distributed and concurrent systems. Prior to Columbia, Wing worked at Microsoft, where she served as corporate vice president of Microsoft Research, overseeing research labs worldwide. Before joining Microsoft, she was on the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, where she was the head of the Department of Computer Science and associate dean for academic affairs of the School of Computer Science. During a leave from Carnegie Mellon, she served at the National Science Foundation as assistant director of the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate.
Anita Wu MBA ’16, partner, AlixPartners
Wu is a partner in the retail practice at AlixPartners, a global consultancy specializing in management advisory, business performance improvement, and corporate turnarounds. Outside of client services, she is the global leader for AlixPartners’ Women’s Empowerment Network. Prior to moving to the U.S. for MIT, Wu led smart cities design in Sydney, Australia, and implemented various initiatives that improved commuter usage of public transportation. She has also previously led the operations for a nonprofit, Light the Way, where she fundraised and delivered education curriculum and microfinancing programs for farming villages in Nepal. She currently resides in New York City.

David M. Siegel SM ’86, PhD ’91, co-founder and co-chairman, Two Sigma
Siegel is a computer scientist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Before co-founding the financial sciences company Two Sigma, he was chief technology officer and managing director at Tudor Investment Corporation. Prior to that, he was a senior leader at D.E. Shaw, where he ultimately rose to be the firm’s first chief information officer. Siegel is currently an active investor and advisor, and serves as a board member for Re:Build Manufacturing, a family of industrial businesses. He is co-founder of the Scratch Foundation, with MIT Professor Mitchel Resnick ’88. He founded the Siegel Family Endowment in 2011 to support organizations and leaders that will understand and shape the impact of technology on society, and as the organization’s chairman devotes significant time and energy to actively engaging with this work.
R. Erich Caulfield SM ’01, PhD ’06, founder and president, The Caulfield Consulting Group
Since 2013, Caulfield has served as the founder and president of The Caulfield Consulting Group, a management consulting firm that specializes in improving organizations’ performance through strategic and operational support. Between 2011 and 2013, he was the New Orleans federal team lead for the White House’s Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) Initiative and, from 2010 to 2011, was a White House Fellow at the Domestic Policy Council. Between 2008 and 2010, Caulfield served as chief policy advisor to Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Cory Booker. Before entering government service, Caulfield worked in management consulting as an associate at McKinsey and Company, focusing on process design and public sector-related projects. Caulfield is also a member of the board of directors for the New Orleans Business Alliance.
