Destroyed Memories
So I had this idea for a while, where Plagg as a god of destruction can destroy anything. So Adrien asked him to destroy a traumatic memory so he wouldn't be akumatized.
I made a little sketch to explain better but it's in french (with mistake) and not very clean/clear, sorry.
Hope you enjoy!!!
Disclaimer; reference to abuse and abuse aftermath.
Translation:
Panel 3: Adrien_ As a god of destruction, you can destroy everything, right? Can you destroy my memory of tonight? I try to be a good son, but I don't feel any love for him anymore…
Panel 4: A_ I don't want to be akumatized and be even more of a burden to Ladybug. Please…
Panel 5: Gabriel_ Oh, Adrien… Look what you're making me do… A_ Father?
Panel 6: G_ You keep disobeying me. I'll think you're doing it on purpose… by making the same mistakes over and over again. A_ I'm sorry
Panel 7: G_ Go to your room.
Panel 8: G_ Let's hope you learn this time.
Panel 10: Plagg_ I know I told you I'd destroy that memory, but I can't do it. Not again.
Panel 11: P_ Let's make a trade. I'll keep them for now. In exchange, take some of my energy. I think you'll need it…
Panel 12: A_ Hey Plagg!
Panel 13: A_ Are you okay? You look tired.
Panel 14: A_ My teeth feels weird …
Panel 15: P_ Kid!!! You must just be hungry. I'm starving!!! I need some camembert.
Panel 16: A_ Now that you mention it, I'm hungry too. P_ Let's go eat!
There are some physical side effects and feline tendencies from having a bit of destruction in him, but Parisians are oblivious and it doesn't show much, nor does it feel strange to see.
Took me so long, it's 4 in the morning, already!!? Good night?!!
Ps (why is my photo so pixelated? is there a special way to post a drawing on Tumblr? any size or format limits?)

Analysing Marinette's (& other's) hairstyles
Marinette's hair changes quite a bit throughout the show. This won't cover every single change, but it covers the main groups, and hopefully gets across the main point: When Marinette's hair changes, it represents a changed mental state.
Classic Marinette - Pigtails
This is Marinette at her most normal. You know her, you love her.
Still stressed but not 'breaking down' stressed. She's productive, generally on top of things, anxious, and prone to mistakes but also solutions. She's mostly in control here, and it semi-works for her.
Any deviation from this hairstyle is essentially a giant flashing sign saying "Marinette's mental state has changed"
Stressed Marinette - Bun/s
Whenever her hair is in buns, she's overworking, over-stressed, and at breaking point. It's signifying that she's operating at a level much higher than she usually is, so her hair is tighter and 'wound up'. Her thinking/environment is usually bad for her and/or others.
Multimouse, in the episode where her identity was almost revealed and she almost killed herself fixing everything = Buns!
Her previous school year (with less friends and more Chloe influence) = Bun!
Shadybug, whose life was terrible with no friends, Chloe, and her powers are literally killing her = Buns!
And when Shadybug turns good and loses some of that toxic thinking, it turns into normal buns. Signifying her change into a better and more healthy mindset.
Actually...based off that, when her buns appear, there's a 2/3rd's chance her plan is killing her...
Secure Marinette - Loose Hair
First appearing in Chat Blanc, this is her letting go of stress and worry. It shows Marinette's need for security and control mellow into calm and enjoyment. She's free of the desire for control. However, she's most likely to get blindsided in this mode. Also, for reasons explained later, this is mimicking Adrien's hair, somewhat.
In Hearthunter, Marinette lets go of the worry surrounding Adrien/Kagami, and enjoys being in the moment with them, losing her hair bands as Adrien leads the both of them into the pool. She enjoys Kagami's friendship, and Adrien's platonic love, and uses the hair ties in a Ladybug style solution. Then, she puts her hair ties back in right as sweetheart's icecream comes up.
They appear in Chat Blanc when Adrien confesses his love, and they stay like that. In the relationship, her guard is down and she's free.
Adrien - Mimicking
Adrien doesn't really do much with his hair, it's almost constantly down. It's messier/different as Chat Noir, but that's not that notable beyond the obvious. Except for a notable example.
Here, Cat Walker is trying his best to be professional, innovative, on task, and EXACTLY LIKE LADYBUG. Ergo, he gets the hairstyle that says "I need to be in control of this situation for the good of everyone, to the detriment of me"
---
There's probably other examples I'm missing right now and I'll add them if so (I'm 90% convinced when someone covers their hair, they're lying: Hawkmoth and Aspik).
But here it is: Marinette's hair theory. Whenever her hair changes, I worry, cause it signifies a changed mental state (and with her, it's often for the worse).

I mean, discounting everything that lead up to and happened in Kuro Neko as Maribug telling Adrichat to fuck off bc she doesn't need him is a super one sided and kinda disingenuous look at it.
All of Maribugs choices are stemming from her trauma. Trauma from heroing in general, from events like Chat Blanc in specific that make her wary of her own partner, and the trauma Fu accidentally passed onto her with both his own paranoia and sacrificing himself right in front of her.
Just like all of Adrichats choices, to hide his actual feelings for the sake of someone who's love he's been taught he has to earn, are stemming from the trauma he got from the massively abusive childhood his parents subjected him to.
Trauma isn't logical, or rational, so of course neither of these unsupervised fourteen year olds with the weight of an entire city on their shoulders are making logical or rational decisions.
And bc their issues match up in just the wrong way, Maribug losing her mentor and getting a butt load more responsibility dumped solely in her lap by said mentor who taught her not to trust her partner drop kicked her into a spiral that she unintentionally dragged Adrichat into by virtue of them being partners and working so closely together.
Maribug became Guardian out of nowhere, due to a tragic event she held herself responsible for. She'd been taught for an unknown amount of time, but presumably a few months, by a man who had more than a century to get stuck within a paranoid rut, and trauma specifically centered around her partner gaining information.
So when even more responsibility is dumped on her and her alone by her paranoid mentor, she's been primed for months to lean away from the partner who she should have been taught to trust and who should have been treated like her equal by their mentor from the start.
And Maribug leaning away from him unknowingly triggered Adrichat's own issues. He felt unheard and unnecessary as a hero and partner, just like he commonly felt at home with his parents abusive parenting styles, but bc he's been trained his whole life to bottle up his issues and be seen and not heard, that's what he tries to do with Ladybug.
And even though the actions Adrichat takes are more passive and quiet, verses Maribugs more active ones, they do just as much to aggravate both of their issues even further.
Maribug can't change her harmful behaviors if Adrichat is actively bottling up and hiding the pain she's causing from her, which meant she just pulled away from him even more without realizing how she was making him feel until he just quit, possibly seeming to her like it was a bit out of the blue, and actively adding onto the massive workload she's already been saddled with.
And these aren't issued that either of them should be expected to somehow get a handle on and get over and fix all by themselves at the age of fourteen.
Honestly Adrichat and Maribug just need one single, solitary adult in their lives who gives a shit about them and actually teach them to communicate and also get them into therapy.
Anyway, tl;dr, fuck the Guardians and Su Han in particular bc so much of this stems from their abusive ways of teaching that kicked off literally everything in the series and started the cycle of paranoia Maribug (and by extension everyone in her life, hero or civilian) is the latest victim of
Oh yeah no it's.
I totally get why they're both like that and don't think she was doing it just callously.
It's. It's basically how I write the Chloé/Sabrina cycle Up of trauma in HC/LL. They're a match made in hell because their trauma responses feed into one another.
Marinette's trauma response is to clam up and take on all responsibility herself, shoving away anyone who wants to help. Adrien's trauma response is to pretend things are fine and do whatever he can to please the people he cares about.
Which means that unless acted on by a third party, they're going to keep circling and getting worse

Why I dislike Marinette
It may shock anyone reading this, especially knowing why people usually dislike Marinette, but my reasons actually aren’t for her actions in canon. Well, of course I take issue with what Marinette does. My issues are more with the creators of the show and her more toxic stans. The issue I have with Marinette is the fact that her actions are usually framed as just, or okay when they should be called out to teach a lesson to people watching. We can argue about favourites, but when Lila lies and she’s punished by LB, and when Marinette lies or does even worse things, it’s clear there’s a bias in favor of Marinette. Marinette has flaws... But the show rarely calls them out as flaws. LB is bossy and CN is just a sidekick? Well the show compliments that by making her a GUARDIAN, able to dispense Miraculouses at will, and CN is having less of a spotlight. Is Marinette an uninteresting character? Spruce her up by making all of Adrien’s drama about HER instead! LB needs to look dependable and smart? In AntiBug, even though Chat is in the top of his class of Fencers, being taught by the best Fencer in all of Paris, he gets bested by Chloe. CHLOE, you know, the girl that’s so clumsy she incapacitated herself in Lady Wifi when she got tangled up in her own Yoyo? Yep, Chat’s such a doof that he’s useless without LB at his side to steer him like a guard dog.
I hear people say that the creators hate Marinette, or love Adrien when that’s just straight up false, Adrien goes through retcons and character assassinations. Hell, the whole Lukanette side romance started out because Gabriel Agreste, Adriens ABUSIVE father prevented him from going, and what does Marinette do? Oh, that’s right, she makes it about HER, what’s her reward for valiantly surviving the next 5 minutes moaning about how “‘tis not to be after all!”? She gets Luka, she gets another option immediately. None of this is considered a flaw of hers, her selfishness rarely gets called out as such and when it does, it’s even rarer that the lesson ACTUALLY sticks with Marinette. She’s uninteresting, does bad things and she’s the main character, not Adrien, a deep complex character that could go through a whole bunch of character arcs and personal growth, the kid that’s the SON of the main villain, as if that’s not bad enough, his “destined” soulmate is Marinette, a selfish girl that sabotages her love rivals chances, absolutely atomizes his personal boundaries like it’s going out of style, and as LB, keeps him in the dark, inadvertently hurting him, in spite of all of this, he must end up with her, hell, Chat Blanc features that Retcon I mentioned earlier, where Adrien, despite knowing LB committed an actual criminal offense still loves her, and dates Marinette, a girl he’s never ONCE considered dating before because the show writers clearly are obsessed with the ship, and favor LB/Marinette.
I think with all these examples, it’s clear the show favors Marinette to an absurd degree, and will happily sacrifice Adrien so he can be a good little doggie.
Now onto the fandom and how it holds Marinette on a pedestal. Marinette’s actions are often excused “She’s a teen,” “she’s under a lot of stress,” “I used to do that too!” (That one is very concerning when it comes to the stalking tbh). They’ve got so many excuses for the things she does. Rarely can this part of the fandom admit that the girl they like the most has flaws she needs to work on. What happens when they see Chat flirting with LB or he destroys an inanimate object in a fit of rage at being sidelined repeatedly? “What an incel neck-beard nice guy!” “He should get his Miraculous taken away” “He clearly doesn’t care about Paris!” “#Marinette Deserves Better”
Can you blame us when we’re jaded on criticism directed at Adrien? Most of the time it’s worded like we’re all sexist pigs and Adrien is the worst character in the show, why would ANYONE want to listen to what some of you have to say?! Even if it’s valid at it’s core, the dress-up of the message makes it hazardous to deal with and it only makes people hate the message because some of y’all can’t act like respectable people when you deliver it!
Adrien is treated like shit by both the show creators and the fans. What’s the point in swiming in the Adrien hate? Lord knows ya’ll can pump out enough to last until the heat death of the universe so it’s not like you need us to contribute.
So yeah, that’s why I hate Marinette, the show makes her insufferable and only a small subset of fans will actually acknowledge how terrible she is, the rest will ignore it or turn it into a sexism issue where it doesn’t even exist, and it makes Marinette more terrible by proxy.

Simply putting all the times Chat has been captured/brainwashed into a single group without context doesn't sound fair and certainly makes it sound a lot worse than it actually was.
Especially since he either didn't have a choice in the matter: Puppeteer, pixelator, sandboy, Gorizilla, Style Queen, Mister pigeon 72, chameleon(especially since that last 5 happened while he was Adrien and had other factors the deal with, example being Plagg sneaking out during Sand boy without telling him)
times where sacrifice was the only option: Timebreaker, Dark cupid, Zombizou, gamer 2.0( if he didn't decide to sacrifice himself then it would have been game over for the pair since ladybug was going to be taking out of commission each time)
Then we also have the times were both Heroes were captured: Dark owl, party crasher
him being captured was a part of the plan both agreed on: Mister pigeon
And while those are the only episodes I have seen there's likely likely similar context occurred during the other episodes with the exception being lies(as unless I was mistaken, he sacrificed himself for no reason)
The reason I listed all of those times in my “Strikeback” review was because Cat Noir specifically claimed that he’d never get akumatized after finding out Ladybug’s identity because he didn’t need protection... when he was still brainwashed or captured for reasons that had nothing to do with knowing Ladybug’s identity. Just because he’s Ladybug’s partner, it doesn’t mean he’s safe from being akumatized, brainwashed, or taken out of commission in some way, and if he knows Ladybug’s identity, it would only make it even more dangerous to get akumatized or captured.
He claims that he’ll always stand by Ladybug while in the middle of insulting her and that he won’t fall under Hawkmoth’s influence when he’s been brainwashed and turned against Ladybug multiple times, yet we’re still supposed to take his side here, and feel reassured that he’s now the only hero she can rely on after she lost the other Miraculous.
It’s a poor excuse to justify the show’s “Ladybug keeps secrets from Cat Noir because she’s a selfish person who doesn’t care about him” argument by acting like she has no reason to not tell Cat Noir her identity when she saw what happened when he figured out her identity in “Cat Blanc”.

Hi, Adrien is handed things on a silver platter whereas Marinette has to work for them.
First thing’s first is just the concept of the love square. Chat Noir gets to interact with Ladybug no matter what because they’re heroes. Ladybug - who carries the weight and responsibility of heroism without getting benefited from it - is required to go to every battle due to her purification ability, and Chat Noir of course is going to show up because he loves both flirting with Ladybug and the freedom of being a superhero.
In addition, Adrien got his miraculous by helping Master Fu up (something that would be expected out of any semi-decent person; by the way, yes, I know the “””significance””” of the action, and it’s silly), whereas Marinette saved him from being hit by a car.
Adrien was allowed back in school with still no explanation from Gabriel (especially since he’s Hawk Moth) as to why he thought it was a good idea to send his son to a school where the very first akumatization had happened. It was Adrien’s goal for the episode alongside making friends, and Nino offered him friendship out of pity when Adrien sulked about how Chloe was the closest thing to a friend he had.
Chat crushes on Ladybug because she stood up to Hawk Moth in a speech dripping with confidence, caught what seemed like hundreds of akuma, and came up with a plan quick enough to save Mylene and Ivan from falling to their deaths from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Marinette (who Chat fell in love with one side of first, mind you, so already this is to his benefit), meanwhile, crushes on Adrien because the narrative gave her a falsehood about him never having any friends (i.e: no Chloe) and he gave her an umbrella while he was ten meters away from his actual ride (like with Fu, again, any decent person--).
Chat’s crush on Ladybug makes things harder for her because it causes him to throw tantrums mid-battle, get distracted and distract her because he’s busy flirting, all of which make her feel guilty for not returning his feelings. Marinette’s crush on Adrien makes things hard for her again because it causes her to embarrass herself while virtually everyone who knows teases/mocks her for it, their opinions of her even being dragged down due to the crush (see Alya with the Lila situation).
Chat is shipped with Ladybug by Parisians everywhere and Alya delighted in taking a picture of them kissing (that got posted on the Ladyblog without Ladybug’s consent). Likewise, the other LadyNoir kiss (that Ladybug had to do to free Chat from Dark Cupid’s control) was shown on live TV for all watching to see. Marinette’s kisses with Adrien, however, were either wiped from the timeline (in which Adrien got to keep a secret from her so he could date “””Ladybug”””) or used to humiliate her because Adrien was attempting a prank.
Ladybug realizes that Chat is in serious about her, not because he told her himself, but because he relayed it to Marinette who happened to be Ladybug. Marinette, on the other hand, has spent 3+ seasons attempting to confess her feelings to Adrien or make advances on him, all of which ended in some form of failure and some of which through no fault of her own.
Chloe shoved her in “Bubbler” (Adrien didn’t even check on her) and then Nathalie crushed the note she’d written on a scarf that Marinette put tons of time and effort into, leading to Adrien thinking it was from his dad.
“Copycat” was accidental and came on too strong, requiring its deletion.
She got distracted by Alya and forgot to write her name in “Dark Cupid,” her letter only further solidifying Chat’s crush on Ladybug.
She kept getting interrupted in “Gamer” after Alya chided her for using the event to get with Adrien (despite Alya doing the same thing for Marinette during the film in “Horrificator” while Mylene was MIA).
She wasn’t able to tell Adrien about Lila’s thievery in “Volpina” because the grimoire had to remain a secret.
The hat in “A Christmas Special” got given away within minutes and then not even brought back on-screen by Miraculous Ladybug (Adrien never even thanked Marinette personally for it).
Kagami came out of nowhere to take the fencing spot in “Riposte.”
Deciding not to make schemes only led to her embarrassment in “Gigantitan.”
She got made fun of and the notes all conveniently looked the same in “Backwarder,” leading to her mixing them up.
The macaron for Adrien (that Marinette would prepare every week) never got eaten by him and ended up causing the akuma after Chloe had emotionally manipulated Marinette into scheming with her.
Practicing on a statue (as per Tikki’s advice) in “The Puppeteer 2″ humiliated her when Adrien revealed himself as the statue.
She was embarrassed during the party in “Party Crasher” because she was pressured into dancing without her consent.
The timeline had to be reset in “Chat Blanc” and she had to lie to her friends that she hadn’t given Adrien the gift even though she’d actually succeeded, while the hat she made just for Adrien got written off as a gift from a random fan (which is an even worse fate than the scarf).
The confession in “Felix” was deleted by Felix himself before Adrien could see it.
And Adrien, meanwhile? Ohhhh boy, lemme tell you about Adrien.
He gets put into suggestive/close positions with Ladybug on many, many occasions, all for “free.”
He got a kiss from Ladybug in “Dark Cupid” that, remember, got photographed and put on live TV.
He got to goad the audience without consequence about he and Ladybug potentially being in a relationship eventually - gaining the knowledge that all of Paris was invested in LadyNoir to thoroughly stroke his ego - and then Ladybug had to act like they were a couple in “Prime Queen” to the point of holding Chat’s hand and saying that they were in love.
Likewise, “Glaciator featured Ladybug having to act like a couple with him again, now to the point of kissing his cheek, and then Chat got a blush from her after he’d spent a good chunk of the akuma battle pouting that Ladybug didn’t come to the date he set up (that she hadn’t even known was a date because he purposefully withheld that information) despite her telling him that she’d have to see about it because she had plans.
He was reassured in “Anansi” on being “irreplaceable” after he made an unnecessary comment about being replaced by a turtle (Carapace).
He got to carry Ladybug around bridal style and also save her in “Sandboy” and “Reverser” respectively because she was rendered essentially useless without him, then got to save her again in “Frozer” after giving her the cold shoulder for rejecting his feelings.
He’s the one who got told by Marinette’s own parent not to apologize for how he feels in “Weredad” (note that Marinette herself never got this talk from Sabine, nor Tom, which very much could’ve prevented “Crocoduel”).
He got a cheek kiss from Ladybug in “Desperada” after getting to undo the very-much-against-the-rules identity reveal he made to her via Second Chance.
He got to look good in “Gamer 2.0″ when Ladybug was seeking advice from him despite the fact that her and Chat’s situations hero-wise are absolutely, completely, 100% different and he didn’t even try to take that into account.
He got Ladybug resting her head on his shoulder because of what she saw in a deleted time in which he - unbeknownst to her - lied by omission.
A fake Ladybug tried to kiss him on two separate occasions, “The Puppeteer 2″ and “Ladybug,” much to his delight (something to note is that the fake Adrien who went after Ladybug in both “Chameleon” and “Felix” tried to force themselves on her).
He got the “jealousy” moment from Ladybug in “Heart Hunter” and then a hug from Aquabug in “Miracle Queen.”
He received no repercussions for taking Ladybug out on a date (that she wasn’t aware was going to be a date) in “Gang of Secrets,” at best having to apologize for her behavior to the people around them.
He got reassured that Ladybug “couldn’t do this without him” in “Guiltrip,” even to the point of being told that she “probably doesn’t tell him enough.”
He got told by Ladybug that she would never abandon him in “Hack-San” because he was guilting her sulking about how his not knowing her identity would mean that he’d never see her again if she left him somehow.
And before you think this only extends to the romantic aspects of love square, let me tell you now that it definitely doesn’t.
Marinette entered the bowler hat competition and had to defend her own work to the judge.
She ran for class representative and had to earn the trust and faith of her class in “Darkblade” when put up against Chloe’s bribery.
She did whatever she could to make sure Juleka got her picture taken in “Reflekta.”
She had to actually craft a pair of glasses suitable for Jagged Stone in “Pixelator” and then make a gorgeous album cover for him in “Guitar Villain.” (note that this partially led to “Troublemaker” where she was just happily wanting to advertise her parents’ business, and the writers multiplied her Adrien pictures for the sake humiliating her when it was caught on live TV)
She had to work to get ungrounded by improving her attendance in “Simon Says,” because she had been busy being a hero.
She worked to try and get Nathaniel and Marc to get together on a project, knowing it would be good for both of them.
She set up an entire celebration for her bully to try and make said bully feel good about herself in “Malediktator.”
She did Kitty Section’s designs and costumes in “Silencer” and then had to go protect them from being stolen, along with her friends’ music.
She had to wear multiple miraculouses in “Kwamibuster” in order to go against Kwamibuster and get back both the ladybug earrings and the cat ring.
“Gamer 2.0.” Just... “Gamer 2.0.″
She made a whole complex lockbox to protect the Miracle Box in “Gang of Secrets.”
She worked to reach out to Zoe in “Sole Crusher” even after Zoe trashed her in front of the school, going as far as to try and comfort Zoe’s akumatized form.
She had to stand up for the movie to be fixed in “Queen Banana” because no one else would.
She has to work each and every akuma battle as Ladybug, figuring out Lucky Charms that can range from simple to complicated, while simultaneously dealing with a partner who relies heavily on her plans and will occasionally make things harder by either throwing tantrums mid-battle or distracting her.
And meanwhile...
Chat Noir got to throw the blame onto Ladybug for Theo’s akumatization in “Copycat.”
Marinette covered for him in “The Collector” when he was the one who recklessly lost the grimoire by not being careful with it.
He got handed Fu’s identity in “Syren” after whining to Ladybug, throwing blame on her and trying to bribe Plagg so they’d tell him, threatening to quit while Paris was underwater, and all of this while Marinette herself only got to meet Fu because she had the grimoire on her.
He was given the moral high ground in “Malediktator” despite not having to actually care about Chloe enough to call/check on her.
He got to sit back in “Chameleon” and not concern himself with judgment or comment on the situation with Lila, even going into “Ladybug” where he continues to inform no one about Lila (including Marinette, who briefly believed that Lila came to her senses and was willing to make amends) after Lila got Marinette expelled, despite the complete lack of risk on his part considering who his father is and how harshly Lila would be dragged through the mud if she dared to trash his reputation.
He clumsily trips in “Captain Hardrock” in a fashion that reveals an instrument he happens to play, leading to him getting invited to join Kitty Section within seconds of being on the Liberty. (so when Adrien is clumsy, it’s to his benefit, and when Marinette is clumsy, it’s to her detriment)
He never got called out for distracting Ladybug and digging for details that could relate to her identity in “Kwamibuster” (which, again, forced Marinette to do all the work to fix things).
He got a party thrown for him in “Party Crasher” by Nino, and also guys that Adrien had never put forth effort into interacting with or befriending (Marinette had also been through more with all of them sans Nino).
He got to force Ladybug’s favorite traits of his out of her in “Truth” because she was under the influence of Truth’s powers.
He got off the hook for sacrificing himself in “Lies” by flirting about Ladybug’s “irresistible angry little pout,” and also never got repercussions for flirting with another girl while dating Kagami.
He never had to face consequences for smashing a chimney in “Sentibubbler,” even as he was dismissing the gesture because he knew Miraculous Ladybug would fix it.
He didn’t have to apologize for his behavior in “Hack-San,” whereas Ladybug "had to” for telling someone else her identity (the details of why - i.e: that she was having a mental breakdown and needed a release from it - being completely left out) and not telling him that she was leaving (when she literally hadn’t had time to tell him anything; do note as well that Adrien didn’t have to do the same in either “Backwarder” or “Startrain”).
He received no consequences and was in fact rewarded for allowing the akuma in “Wishmaker” to hit him, a choice that Viperion has to live with because it caused him to see both Ladybug and Chat’s identities (meaning now Luka - someone who, like the guys in “Party Crasher” - Adrien has done virtually nothing for - can support Adrien since he knows).
And I could go on, I really could, but my point is that Adrien is given all of the sympathy and sad points while Marinette basically never is. Just like how he was born swimming in money, fame, and adoring fans, the show hands out praises and all the things he’s ever wanted because he’s sad.
He doesn’t have to try. He can whine and complain and vent to Plagg about how “replaceable” he is because the show will mollycoddle him to the moon and back. They’ll put his crush on Ladybug’s shoulders to make her feel guilty while Marinette is over here having to bust her butt just for a chance at Adrien recognizing any semblance of her feelings, and he goes on being blissfully ignorant of them so he doesn’t have to suffer like Ladybug does.
In addition, Marinette has to either be “““making mistakes”““ or embarrassing herself in order to get screen time because the burden of lessons fails upon her, whereas Adrien can be name-dropped without even doing anything.
It’s not just the love square that’s unbalanced, it’s everything between these two. Ladybug is scolded and punished for the slightest act of selfishness while Adrien is encouraged and rewarded for being selfish and demanding things. Marinette has to work to be noticed (and sometimes won’t even get that much) while all Adrien has to do is put on his best sad face and the show will bend over backwards to either give him exactly what he wants or make him the sympathetic one through the narrative.
Even if Adrien had known about Marinette’s crush at the time that Ladybug knew about Chat’s, it wouldn’t matter, because the tipped scales in how they’re treated would still make it so Marinette is the one at fault for “dumping her feelings onto Adrien” while Ladybug is still forced to interact with Chat even if his advances make her uncomfortable.

Any one of these would surely destroy the Miraculous Ladybug fandom, as the destructive truths within are just that volatile. Thankfully, I am easily distracted by new Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering cards and Doctor Who episodes, so everything is fine.
#miraculous ladybug#ml meta#although the gabriel hiding his identity one I might actually write#plus seeing it written down makes me interested in doing the zoé felix one

UNCLE SAM-I-AM: Happy B-Day Dr. Seuss!
Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, born #OTD, 1904.
Geisel's "Private Snafu" in "RUMORS", WW2 training film, NARA ID 35828. NARA Gif here.

Many WW2 soldiers were young, newly-enlisted men with minimal formal education. To both impart info and improve morale, the Army Motion Picture Unit – headed by Hollywood director Frank Capra – created nearly two dozen "Private Snafu" training films that featured a bumbling new recruit who routinely breaks rules (SNAFU = Situation Normal All Fouled Up). Many "Private Snafu" shorts were written by Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, voiced by Mel Blanc (infamous voice of Bugs Bunny), directed by animation legends Chuck Jones and Friz Freleng, and produced by Warner Bros. Studios.
RUMORS Military Training Film
Dr. Seuss's unique and imaginative style is evident in this "Rumors" training film. Pvt. Snafu chats with another soldier in the bathroom about "nice bombing weather."
It was a bright sunny day, air fresh and clean Not a rumor was stirring, except... in the latrine!
The rumor spreads rapidly, taking the form of hot air.
The hot air is blowing. A rumor is flowing!
The hot air fills giant balloons that then go through the "rumor mill" and become animated flying sausages that swarm the training camp, leading to the base shutdown/quarantine for "RUMOR-ITIS."
Balloon juice - it's phony, but it makes nice baloney! That's right. Exaggerate it. Stretch it. Multiply it. Now shoot off your face, And baloney is flying all over the place!
Even worse, Private Snafu ends up straitjacketed in a psych ward's padded cell #13, where he is tormented by Napoleon Baloney (Bolognaparte?). Lesson learned...

OK I'm gonna talk about a subject that's kinda touchy but really sincerely needs to be said.
Some people in this fandom i genuinely admire and like, but here's the thing. Some of y'all in this fandom can be a bit insensitive to allot of issues (racism, sexism, abuse, etc) and some still try real hard to act like you don't and it's honestly really f*cking trifling/concerning, cause like y'all act like y'all don't do that, and it really aggravates me.
First onto the problem with racism this fandom has. Y'all have no qualms going on and on about the evident whitewashing the show does to it's characters of colour at times like what they did to rena's model, etc(trust me i feel the same way at times but saying that mari is white bc she doesn't wear chinese garb etc is really concerning and feels really weird when white fans try to say this bc not allot of ppl who come from different cultures outward go and dress in their ethnic garb at home in all places (and honestly, whenever iusuallysee art of this it's fine but at times it comesoff a bit fetishizy(especially whenever someonetries to draw mari in diferent clothes and all they do is a "certain" style. and it's concerning that y'all have the opposite argument about sabine (even though i also i have qualms about that too.) but then getting angry when poc try to tell y'all to stop drawing characters a certain way (whitewashing (how funny how y'all go on about this and then do it in art or other media by lightening skin colour or changing features) or darkening the skin on a villain alligned character instead of trying to learn from those criticisms is in and of itself, a whole hypocritical mess bc y'all try to make some valid crits of the show but it all goes down the drain when y'all turn around and do this witchhunting/whitewashing bs. Then there's the fact that y'all salters almost always make alya the villain and chloe a support in a huge amount of saltfics without even seeing what kinds of connotations could arise from that. Like do you not see the problem in twisting the main character's best friend who actually has a personality of her own into the villain when she's black and making the lighter skinned bully the hero. At all.
Next onto the sexism (funny thing is its funny how both sides play into this). First we have how the fandom treats Marinette and Adrien. When mishaps happen to Mari, the salty part of the fandom tends to jump up and say that either her classmates are always laughing at her and more complaints that don't make any sense because if y'all have actually watched some parts of the show even, any scene when marinette has a mishap happen to her in front of classmates you'd see they're not laughing at her, but with her. (and you'd think that the nyc special would show y'all that the wouldn't laugh at her accidents or problems if she's in genuine distress.) Then we have the minor villains Felix and Lila with how the fandom still holds onto this merit that canon felix is a good person underneath a cold persona (now this could've been truefor pv!felix or fanon felix and i don't hate him, it actually the opposite, i kinda want to see what other moties the character has in store for us.) what i don't like is how some parts of the fandom put him on a better merit than lila when we don't even know his full character just as yet while we've already gotten to know how shady of a person lila is.
now finally onto the abuse aspect. i saved this one for last bc this is a touchy subject for me at times, in any aspects i can name bc here's the thing, this fandom loves to either: make claims that a certain character (adrien) is not facing any sort of abuse bc he's a guy or that he shouldn't be taking it or he should stand up for it (or worse saying he deserves it and saying that gabriel/lila should continue with it?! looking at 4 or more certain salters who have been getting on my last f-ing nerve with that) and i'm just like please stop and think about it for a second. And i don't want to hear the "it's a tv show" angle which i've heard way too many damn times bc If you were in a situation like that and it starts to escalate, how would you feel if someone online was making fun of your plight online over an over like a damn broken record player hmm? Cause i relate to adrien on a few aspects of his life and seeing y'all repeat the same cold takes about how he could just leave, or how chat blanc can't happen bc gabriel isn't like that is frankly, all too worrying bc i have been in that place and so have many others and seeing y'all say that gabe/lila/nathalie are all morally better bc of certain struggles they face is another hypocritical thing that some of y'all salters need to address bc y'all would rather say these people behave better than an abused kid.
#ml fandom critical#ml fandom#ml fandom salt#ml salt#ml salt on salt#like honestly the hypocriticalness of this fandom aggravates me to no end.#especially since y'all salters never ever own up to y'all's mess and well here's the thing it makes you look like a herd of clowns#and y'all salters have turned something that could genuinely be used to bring valid critique to a show#into a wholeass gaslighting and apologism festival when you either can't find reasons to justify ships or other things#when criticism is NOT about the shit y'all think its about.#miraculous salt#miraculous fandom salt#like the sugar side of the fandom or should i say the sane side of the fandom actually know how to watch a show while still being critical#it's y'all that dont now how you just use the tags to rant on how the show isn't going your way.#and i'm gonna say this.i try to sometimes sweep the shit y'all salters do under the rug at times#bc at face value it seems like you all are actually making some valid critiques then i look at some of the other stuff y'all have done#and it goes down the drain#cause y'all literally send y'all little followers to angry mob anyone who dare speak against you.#like i've been in the fandom when the show fucking started and seeing it go from such a nice community to the cesspool it is now#is distressing.#and also if you're one of those artists who like to send angry mobs to ppl when they don't agree with you you're an idiot. plain and simple#like honestly the show isn't perfect but the way some salters go outta their way to bash it is sad#edit: i got an anon probably pertaining to this post saying that i was mean. that's the point#bc if I'm not assertive and putting my foot down on the problematic salt the fucking salters have put out ppl will ignore it#and continue to support these racist ab*se apologizing mfers.

How I’d rewrite Miraculous Ladybug a.k.a Miraculous Ladybug Final Mix
Before I start I just want to say, I actually loved this show. I always appreciate shows that establish their own universe separate from the big publishers. Ben 10, Generator Rex, Big Hero 6, hell My Life as a Teenage Robot does this well.
When I started Miraculous I had high hopes and season 1 definitely delivered. However, season 2 had some issues and season 3 only made it worse.
Say what you want about the show, but there was a noticeable shift in quality between season’s 1 and 2 and an even bigger drop in season 3.
I won’t touch season 1 since it did its job well. It established the world and explained some of the rules and lore about Kwami and Miraculous powers.
Now the end of season 1 gave us new antagonist in Lila. Her arrival shook up the established flow of the school. She was the new kid so she hooked everyone with stories of traveling around the world. However she had a habit of lying about herself to make herself seem interesting.
She lied about knowing ladybug and about being the latest in a family of superheroes.
Marinette knows that she’s lying because Lila claims to be Ladybug’s BFF, but she never met Lila before that day.
We then get the episode Volpina and so far this was the closest Ladybug came to surrendering. The only other akuma to get close to getting her earrings was Lady Wifi at this point. She knew how to manipulate people, even if she was sloppy with her lies at first.
When season 2 starts however she’s no where to be seen until the season finale, Hero’s Day. This is where I’d make my first change.
Season 2
Make Lila stick around for season 2 instead of adding her back at the end of the season
Her absence is attributed to her “Traveling around the world” when she’d really just at home skipping school.
Her mom believes that the school is closed due to constant akuma attacks. The problem with this is that the school would most definitely have called her about her daughter’s absence. Or at the every least gave her a courtesy call about how the trip is going. It also make’s Lila’s mom seem incompetent because she doesn’t bother to go her kid’s school.
If there’s ever a parent teacher conference this lie would be easily dealt with.
Instead have the season 3 premiere episode “Chameleon” be the season 2 premiere. Instead of having the class change the seating order because she came back have her manipulate it so that she’s sitting next to Adrian and that Marinette is sent to the back.
Instead of Adrian telling Marinette to take the high road, have him warn her that without actual proof she’d just be isolated even more by the class. Adrian then promises to help Marinette whenever he can.
This worked in the episode because it showed just how persuasive she could be and how she could sway people she barely knows.
The episode would play out the same way, except at the end Bustier has Adrian stay where he is because she insists that he be a “good role model” and help Lila because of her “Disabilities”
In the end, the seating order is changed permanently and Marinette is moved to the back of the class. Lila begins to wedge herself between Marinette and the class.
Other big changes I’d make to season 2 would be moving Zombizou closer to the episode Despair Bear. At least make them be within an episode of each other. These will be the seeds for Chloe’s redemption, which can work in the show if Astruc would get his head out of his ass and learn how to write his damn characters.
Going off topic for a bit, but Kevin Levin from Ben 10 has tried to kill Ben for most of the original series run. After his mutation he tries to frame Ben for crimes and then off him when they were dragged into a gladiator match. He even teamed up with Vilgax to trap Ben in the Null Void and take the Omnitrix.
When Alien Force rolls around Kevin still tries to kill Ben, but when he meets a Majester Plumber and witnesses him die because of weapon deal gone bad, the same deal that Kevin set up, he realizes that he could be good and teams up with Ben and Gwen.
The same can be said for Chloe.
The most she’s done was prank Marinette, get Alya suspended, and plagiarize Marinette’s work.
As an antagonist she sucked. Hard.
Over the course of season 2 Chloe should steadily get better at not bossing people around and stop playing the “Mayor’s Daughter” card for her own selfish reasons.
At the same time, we should get small hints at Lila driving a wedge between Marinette and the class.
It could just be her mentioning how flaky Marinette can be because she’s never on time for events or just disappears sometimes.
It’d be hard for Marinette to counter this without revealing herself so the class begins to question her.
The season plays differently with Chloe mellowing out and Lila planting seeds of doubt.
Another thing worth mentioning is how Adrian/Chat Noir factors into the show.
In season 3 we see him miss his mom more, but it comes out of nowhere. We the audience know his mom is dead and assume he’s sad about it, but we don’t get actual scenes about this until Gorizilla and it’s not touched again until Felix.
In season 2 we should get more of how Adrian handles his isolation and how the loss of his mom affects him.
Have him lean on Marinette for support like how he asked her to lean on him for help with Lila.
Also have Chat Noir more involved with the whole temp hero thing and have Master Fu keep him in the loop.
Balance seems to be a central theme to the show, but Ladybug seems to be holding all the cards between the duo and Chat Noir is just in the background.
This makes him seem more like a sidekick instead of a partner since he’s almost never consulted when it comes to choosing heroes.
When Anansi happens have Adrian pick Nino to use the Turtle Miraculous and save Alya
The same can be said for how Chloe gets the Bee Miraculous in Style Queen.
He’s known her the longest and sees that she’s been making an honest effort to change, so as Chat Noir her gives her the Bee Miraculous.
This way Chloe gets to have her secret identity and prove herself to Ladybug and Chat Noir as a worthy hero.
Queen Wasp is removed from the series entirely
Maledictator happens because Audrey threatens to go back to New York and Chloe doesn’t know if she wants to go with her or not because she knows she wants a better relationship with her mom, but she’s also making progress at being a better person at school.
Lila sets off the celebration for Chloe leaving and that make Chloe want to leave because she thought she was getting better, but it seems as if her efforts weren’t good enough. Marinette doesn’t participate and defends Chloe since she hasn’t bothered Marinette or anyone else for the last few weeks and Lila takes this opportunity to make it seem like Marinette wants Chloe to stick around and bully the class.
Instead of defending herself Marinette chases after Chloe, and Adrian follows soon after once he hears the news.
The episode play nearly the same way until Chat Noir get whammied by Maledictator and becomes an actual cat.
Ladybug then gives Chloe the Bee Miraculous again and the episode plays out the same way until the end where Marinette offers to be Chloe’s friend and she accepts
Event play out the same leading up to heroes day and the season ends the same way. However, as a reward for their bravery in facing Hawkmoth and Mayura: Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee get to keep their Miraculous
Season 3
Since we moved Chameleon up a season and removed Queen Wasp, we’ll give those two episodes to season 3 as exposition episodes. One where Fu explains in detail to the current holders what happened to the order.
Have it be different from Feast sense the whole reason was Ludacris to begin with. Introduce the concept of an order dedicated to chaos that wants to use the Mirculous for various reasons. The temple is attacked and Fu managed to get away with the main miracle box with the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous in it.
We also get Fu choosing Ladybug to be the new guardian if something should happen to him with the other heroes agreeing that it should be her.
She begins her training after this episode
In another episode explain what happened to Adrian’s mom
We know that she has some sort of sickness keeping her in a coma and that only the Miraculous can fix it. We know because Adrian mentions how Natalie showed the same symptoms his mom did before she “died”
Have Gabriel remember what caused her to use the Peacock and how he found them to begin with. Have him study the grimoire to learn how to use Ladybug and Chat Noir’s Miraculous to save his wife.
Remove Animaestro since it adds nothing to the plot and was just an excuse for Astruc to shamelessly insert himself into his own show.
As a writer this is a major sin if done wrong. And while other cartoon creators have done this, the make their appearances cameos and don’t take up a majority of the episode complaining
The love Hexagon remains mostly the same, but Marinette doesn’t get super jealous of Kagami and ends becoming friends with her after getting to know her better. Meanwhile have Adrian subconsciously react to Luka’s presence around Marinette and have him question why when he thinks he’s dead set on loving Ladybug.
The episodes leading up to Ikari Gozen remain the same except Kagami doesn’t reveal her identity in the fight and Chat Noir gives her the Dragon Miraculous before she get captured by her mother.
Chat Blanc would be completely different. Instead of a what if episode, we have Chat Noir gets akumatized because it’s the anniversary of his mother’s death and he can’t hide how sad he is. Hawkmoth capitalizes on this and Chat Blanc is born. The other heroes show up to deal with the threat and the new reserves show up to help as well.
Chat Blanc almost sets off a world wide Cataclysm, but Viperion uses second chance to warn them. Have Monkey King disrupt Chat Blanc’s powers and then have Queen Wasp paralyze him so Ladybug can find the Akuma and cure it.
Felix plays differently as well. For starters have him not be related to Adrian and make him look different from him entirely. Felix and the other Quantic kids can be in a different class altogether. His introduction can play into the whole Lila situation as he and the other quantic kids don’t buy into her lies, but they can’t prove any of them are false.
For this to work even more, Lila’s lie of knowing Prince Ali doesn’t come up since she didn’t leave the school.
Now comes the big episode of the season, Ladybug.
This episode was good for so many reasons, but this time we’ll up the ante.
Lila still plants the necklace and test answers, but this time she goes further.
When they’re sent to the principal’s office she throws herself down the stairs can then claims that Marinette pushed her.
This time the evidence is damning and Lila’s mom is called. With the actual scrapes and bruises to help sell the story along with the test answers being put in Marinette’s bag and the Lila’s necklace in her locker Marinette is expelled and the same events as the episode take place, but this time Nino isn’t akumatized because it’s implied that he’s known Marinette for a long time so he should know she’d never get physical with someone or cheat (But she has taken the occasional cell phone)
Alya looks for clues to prove that Marinette is innocent and Nino joins along with Adrian.
The trail goes cold and then the episode pans out the same way. In the end Chloe makes a big scene about Marinette being expelled and find proof that she didn’t cheat on the test and didn’t steal the necklace, but can’t ultimately prove that Marinette didn’t push Lila. She then uses the “Mayor’s Daughter” card to get Marinette back in school, but the damage has been done. Most of the class believes Lila over Marinette and begin to isolate her. Although, Alya decides to finally do some fact checking on Lila after the string of incidents that morning and finds out that she’s been lying. She apologizes for how she’s been acting and nukes the ladyblog since she deems it “tainted” and commits to the school blog.
This shows a great deal of growth for Alya since he doesn’t feel the need to follow superheroes since she is one, and is willing to give up something for her friend’s sake.
After all of this happens Marinette is stripped of her class rep title and the Class nominates Lila.
Hearthunter and Miracle Queen don’t happen at all sense Chloe is fully redeemed at this point. Instead, Lila returns as Volpina to lure out Fu since Hawkmoth managed to figure out that he was in town after Hero’s Day.
Volpina creates an illusion to lure him out, but Fu realizes this and runs to find Marinette while in disguise. He gives her the Miracle Box and he loses his memories. Marinette stashes the box in her room before trying to get him somewhere safe, but when he gets to the train station he’s Akumatized by Hawkmoth and Ladybug and the other heroes must fight their mentor.
After the battle Marinette calls Marianne to take care of Fu and the two leave Paris while the other heroes watch the train depart with heavy hearts.
My biggest gripes with the show are how the character are never allowed to grow and how much the status quo remains mostly the same at the end of each episode.
Almost none of what happens in a regular episode changes the flow of the story, and only the season premieres and finales seem to hold any weight. Not to mention Astruc’s obvious bias towards certain characters. He expects Marinette to be super mature, but she’s 14. He stated that he hates Chloe and Felix and goes out of his way to treat them like garbage.
In Felix’s debut episode he had him make an enemy with damn near the entire cast and even had Ladybug deck him.
Astruc for the most part doesn’t change anything and plays things too safe, unless it’s pointless fanservice that just serves to anger the fans even more.
I rewrote the last two season of Miraculous because for the most part, it’s become a sinking ship that could have easily been fixed.

Ya'll I don't care what happens in Chat Blanc because the theories with Bunnyx and Ladybug going to a "what if" future to fight Chat Blanc gave me an idea.
-Imagen an AU with Ladybug detransforming and then Chat Blanc finds her but instead of attacking here he goes all cuddly and happy because hell yes his princess is back???My Lady who????
-Marinette freaks out but ultimatly ends up just sticking with the situation.
-Bunnyx freaks out when she sees Marinette with Chat Blanc right behind her.
-"He just wants to play!"
-She keeps Blanc around
-He comes with her to the present
-He can't remember what happend before he turned into Chat Blanc (fight me on this one)
-Cut to Marinette trying to handle her double life with a very protective white cat in it
-Chat Blanc is always where Marinette is
-Everyone freaks out seeing a white Chat Noir staying with Marinette
-"It's a long story"
-Chat Blanc sleeps on her balcony or chaise
-He doesn't talk but when he does it's not much
-He hisses everytime Lila gets to close to Marinette
-"I'll cataclysm her"
"Kitty no-"
"Kitty yes."
-He may or may not have threatend Lila in the middle of the night to murder her in cold blood and then cataclysm her remains after the events of 'Ladybug'.
Don't tell Marinette
-When Blanc finds out Mari's Ladybug he's not really shocked
-Tags along for partrol
-Blanc wants lots of cuddles from Marinette and from Marinette only
-His unakumtized counterpart is jealous because he wants cuddles too
-Blanc loves watching Marinette design
-Marinette's parents love Chat Blanc once they had the inital break down
I mean an akuntized version of Chat Noir lives with them now
-Tom may or may not have tried to play match maker
-Marinette.exe stopped working
-He's also not allowed to use cataclysm
-Tikki wasn't very fond of this situation
-But Blanc gives her cookies when Marinette isn't looking so she accepts the situation
-When Hawkmoth found out about Chat Blanc he tries to control him
-It doesn't work and Chat Blanc says fuck Hawkmoth rights
-Chat Blanc once caught an akuma that was after Marinette
-Chat Blanc started talking to the akuma and threatend Hawkmoth even worse than Lila if he ever dares to go after his princess again
-Gabriel never dared to send another akuma after Marinette
-Marinette loves her kitty -who threatend a terrorist and a 14 year old liar- a lot
(The following part contains spoilers for Loveater and Miracle Queen)
-He absolutely wanted to cataclsym Adrien for being stupid and blind during Loveater
(yes he wants to cataclysm his deakumtized civillian self)
-Instead of running away Marinette asks Andre to make her an icecream of her own
-She gets Lemon and Blueberry
-Happy Marinette = Happy Chat Blanc
-Fight with Loveater would go the same but instead of breaking down in front of Luka it's in front of Chat Blanc
-Chat Blanc says fuck wasp rights and just runs away while carrying Marinette bridal style
-Blanc assists Dragonbug and Snake Noir in the fight with the other miraculous users
-Rest goes like in canon
-In the end scene everyone still gets icecream
-She gets Lemon and Blueberry yet again
-Lots of cuddles for her favourite white kitty
-People got used to having Chat Blanc around so noone is suprised when he's there
-Luka plays music for everyone
-Adrien is still jealous because he gets no cuddles
-Blanc is not allowed to help in akuma fights.
Marinette's order.
-After Miracle Queen he watches over the miraclebox during akuma attacks
-He ends up in a relationship with his princess before his counterpart does
-He gets even more cuddles but now that includes kisses
-Happy white kitty
I'm keeping this AU no matter what happens in Chat Blanc. Also it needs a name lol
#miraculous ladybug#chat blanc#ml spoilers#ml au#idc what hsppens in the ep#im keeping this the way it is#im stupid i know but this au wouldn't stop being in my head#help#does this count as marichat?#update:this au has a name now!#and it iiiiiis:#white knight au

For the Love of a Chat
Ao3
Chapter 11 - Chat Blanc
It took a few seconds before Chat could leave her presence. Something was eating at him to stay, but he knew he needed to leave in order for him to come back sooner rather than later. He squeezed her hand one more time, a sad smile lingered on his lips before turning to the staircase and head to the balcony.
But before Chat Noir could escape through the hatch, a dusting of sparkling sand dusted onto the superhero. His eyes widened; he knew exactly who the akuma was.
“Sandboy.” Chat whispered before turning around. His mind raced in thought as his body proactively turned to leap off the loft to protect Marinette before the akuma could coat her too. But he was too late. Marinette lifted her arms to eye the glittery dust that coated her body, her eyes just as wide when she realized what was going on.
“No.” She said in a terrified whisper; tears were already forming in the corner of her eyes.
“Marinette?” Chat scaled back down the ladder and grabbed onto her arms to steady her nerves. “Marinette. It’s going to be okay. Ladybug and I will take care of it.”
Marinette looked up with fear in her eyes. “No. No.” She loudly gasped, fear now emanate in her eyes. Her body was trembling, her hand covering a sob that tried to escape her lips, and she stepped back away from him until her back touched the wall.
“Marinette?” Worry now laced his tone as he watched her reaction. He noticed that her blank stare was not towards him, but to something behind him. He slowly turned around, afraid to see what caused her skin to pale.
Blue eyes. White Hair. White Suit.
“Marinette!” The creature called out. “Why don’t you love me anymore? We could be so happy together.”
Chat swallowed and blinked rapidly as he watched a crazed version of himself cry out with an eerie echo.
“Marinette? Why do we have to be apart? Why can’t we be together?”
Marinette slid to the ground as the tears fell down her face.
“Chat Noir?” Chat called out to the creature in white. Blue eyes took his eyes off his love, but glared daggers into the ones of green.
“I am not Chat Noir. I am Chat Blanc. It’s all your fault that we cannot be together. You ruined this for us!”
“What do you mean I ruined this for you? Marinette? What’s going on?” Fear now cracked his voice afraid of what his answer was to be. “Why are you afraid of-”
“Kitty!” A fierce, yet raspy voice interrupted him as it echoed from a shadowed corner of the room. “Kitty? I hate you. I hate your stupid bell. I hate your pretty face. I only let you in this room because I feel sorry for you.”
“Ma- Marinette?” Chat Noir looked back over to see that Marinette was still on the floor stalled in fear as she watched Chat Blanc walking slowly towards her as if he did not want to spook her further. He turned to the shadows to see another version of Marinette – one with black clothes and an angry look on her face – spitting venomous words towards him.
“You’re right kitty. It is Marinette. But I don’t like you. I never liked you. You’re nothing to me. I just pity you. Pity your poor excuse of a sob story to care about you.”
“No.” Chat Noir said, voiceless. He shook his head to clear his wandering thoughts. He knew that this was all an illusion; it was just his fears turning to reality.
He turned back to the real Marinette and saw that Chat Blanc was closer to her than he was now. He took his baton and extended it, knocking Chat Blanc of balance and throwing him against the wall. He then ran to Marinette, picked her up bridal style, and slipped through the hatch to get her away from the two evil versions of themselves. He stopped on her balcony and tried to focus her face on his.
“Marinette. Snap out of it.” Chat Noir stated, shaking her shoulders to get her back to reality. When Marinette finally looked into his eyes, she grabbed onto him struggling to find purchase against his skin tight suit.
“Oh god, Chat. Please. Please get me away from him.” She mumbled into his chest. Her words sounding like a whispered plea. “Please.”
Chat nodded and hopped over to the next roof and then onto the next, until he was running quickly through the arrondissement to find a place where he could safely put her down. When he finally got to a safe area, he grabbed onto her broken form, caressing her cheek with his clawed hand. “Marinette. Look at me.”
Marinette, still tremulous over what she had seen, finally looked into green eyes.
“Chat? Chat Noir?” She let out a wet sigh and wrapped her arms around him. She whispered, afraid that if she spoke louder, her words would cause the change in scenery to the one of the darkness in her room with the white cat taunting her with fear.
“It’s me. It’s me, Marinette. I’m right here.” He cooed as he rubbed circles on her back. “Shhh. What happened? Why is there a Chat Blanc in your room?”
“I can’t. I can’t talk about it. Please.” Fresh tears started to spill from her eyes. “Please. Just go defeat the akuma. Please.”
Chat didn’t want to leave her, but he needed to defeat this so he could come back. He needed to come back. She needed him and he wasn’t going to leave her alone to suffer any longer than she should.
“I’ll be right back. Please stay here. I’ll find you as soon as I’m done and I promise I’ll finish this.” He wrapped her in his arms and held her tightly. “I’ll protect you. I promise.”
Marinette nodded as she clung to him tightly. Slowly, she released him from her grasp, him doing the same, and watched his diminishing form as he bounced from rooftop to rooftop towards the akuma.
“Tikki,” She called out quietly to the kwami as she cleaned her tear-streaked cheeks with the back of her hand, “we need- we need to hu- hurry.”
“Marinette,” she stated calmly, trying to bring her attention to something other than her fear. “Did you notice who Chat was afraid of?”
Marinette nodded. “I saw me, a glimpse of me, in the corner. I- I looked so evil. It was just like the evil Ladybug from the last time Sandboy came around. But it was so different. The words... it was worse than I ever said before.”
Tikki looked at her chosen with sad eyes. “Are you okay, Marinette?”
She sniffed and nodded. “I have to be. Chat needs me.” She stood up and took in a heavy breath to get rid of the anxiousness. “Okay, Tikki. Spots on.”

Chat Blanc’s consequences
I know the fandom has collectively decided there will be a reset/memory wipe Oblivio style at the end of Chat Blanc. But I’m starting to see a pattern with some elements which could be important for the progress of s4.
1 - LORE:
We will finally know more about Gabriel and Emilie backstory, and hopefully his motivations. Even with a reset, it could be useful for understanding future arcs and actions.
2 - LORE:
We are going to find out the real extent of the cat-miraculous/Plagg powers. We already knew they were huge cause the little kwami caused the fall of Atlantis and the dinosaurs’ genocide. But we are going to see it first-hand now. And as a consequence, it’s safe to assume, the Ladybug miraculous/Tikki powers are as much powerful in the creation department. It’s important because we were starting to find them both under-powered if compared to the other zodiacs. This may not be so, and it will be shown that the bug/cat Yin/Yang ones are the most powerful for a reason.
3 - LOVE SQUARE DEVELOPMENT
There will finally be some insight about Adrien true feelings towards Marinette in her civilian form. We have always assumed he felt nothing because of the “just a friend” meme and because he seemed to be much more into Kagami. We considered him just oblivious and in denial at best. Completely uninterested at worst. But what if this was not the case? What if he always had more than a soft spot for Mari but we couldn’t know because those episodes weren’t told from his point of view and we couldn’t see his reaction? Think about it, every time there had been an almost reveal about both Mari’s feelings (troublemaker/sw 2) or Ladybug’s identity (kwamibuster, but there could be others), the camera cut to another scene and we couldn’t witness his reaction. But most likely we are going to see it now.
So, how could this affect the development of the love square in s4? (finale spoilers below)
First of all we must consider that as things are right now, taking into consideration the end of Miracle Queen, we must assume Adrienette is dead. Ended. Finished. Caput. Six feet under.
The moment Marinette gave up on her crush, the ship was over for the time being, because she was the only one keeping it alive. According to the narrative, Adrien isn’t interested, and has never done anything to pursue her romantically.
Mari won’t make a move in s4, mark my words. Because she will be guilt tripped due to her friendship with Kagami, because she wants Adrien to be happy, and because once she moves on to Luka, she’ll stick with it. And it will be even worse if she remembers the events in Chat Blanc.
So, if anything has to happen with Adrienette in the future, it must necessarily come from Adrien. He has to be the one to take action this time. If Marinette was just a friend as we have always been led to believe, it’s game over. But what if she isn’t. That’s why finding out in Chat Blanc how he truly feels may change things, because once it’s revealed, we could get more of Adrichat point of view in the next season, and his eventual pursuing of Marinette wouldn't feel so strange.
This is the doubt I had ever since they leaked the spoilers about having the resolution of the Adrienette vs Lukanette in s4.
That’s why after the finale I was confused. I asked myself “how could there still be competition if Adrienette is dead and Lukanette is canon?” Unless, as I was saying, We were mislead and there’s still hope for Adrienette. But only if Adrien does something about it because his true feelings were hidden from us.
It would be wonderful if he start putting two and two together slowly but consistently. This boy really needs to start working on himself and be proactive about the things he wants without waiting for other people to do the work for him. I want him to grow, start noticing things around, and realize finally how much Marinette loved him in silence when he wasn’t aware of it.

A little more on Chat Blanc:
I’ve been trying to figure out how to put this, but Gabriel in this episode bothered me. Not just because of the horrible things he does, but because this is too far even for him. It’s Gabriel’s version of whatever the fuck happened to Chloé in Love Eater/Miracle Queen.
Because, like, yes. Gabriel has been a fuck from day one. He’s Hawkmoth. He’s a kinda bad parent(though I still argue that while he was never the best, he wasn’t as bad before, he’s just lost in grief over Emilie and getting worse because he can’t move on but I digress).
But the limit for him has always been the people close to him getting hurt. Because, like, the whole thing in Style Queen was because Adrien got hit. And yeah, we the audience know that Adrien’s in danger all the time, but Chat doesn’t count. And he also stopped his big plans because Nathalie got hurt. Literally in Ladybug, he was .5 seconds away from Akumatizing Marinette and everyone goddamn else in the process, but he stopped because Nathalie got another dizzy spell.
And despite the times where Adrien’s upset, either for other reasons or because Gabriel’s being a fuck, Adrien was never Akumatized before. It would be so easy to do this from the beginning and just keep reusing him! Or even tell Adrien what all’s going on and have Adrien willingly volunteer to be Akumatized because he wants to save his mom.
Maybe this is just my personal headcanons/speculation/wanting him to be better/etc, but Akumatizing Adrien in Chat Blanc is.... out of character.
And as much as I want to toss this in the ‘bad writing bin’, and I still am, I think it’s because Chat Blanc technically has a time skip?
We don’t know how much time passed between the beginning of the episode and whenever Gabriel did the fuckery of trying to Akumatize Marinette and then successfully Akumatizing Adrien.
And like, sure. Gabriel’s not at that point now. But it’s easy to imagine him going through some sanity slippage. Because this was supposed to be an easy ‘be a supervillain for a short while, get Emilie back, change the past so that he never had to be Hawkmoth in the first place’.
But it’s gone on for so long. And he’s starting to lose more because of it. That confrontation is probably after losing Nathalie to the damaged Peacock as well(which is why she’s not there). He’s losing Adrien too, but in the different way because they’ve been pulling away from each other for obvious reasons. His work is starting to suffer too, because you can’t design when fucking depressed and you can’t run a company when your secretary is dead/in a magic coma.
So like, he knows he’s terrible. He knows he’s ruined everything, even though he never meant to go this far. But now? He can’t stop. Because if he stops, he can’t fix it. The only way to fix it is to reset everything to before Emilie went into her magic coma thing. Because then ‘Hawkmoth’ never happened, and neither did Mayura, or any of the Akumas. And even things like Marinette, well, Gabriel would remember the Original Timeline, remember her, and be able to seek her out to help Adrien get her again in the New Timeline.
And it’s something that is mirrored in Chat Blanc. CB wants to go back and fix everything. And had he successfully taken Ladybug’s Miraculous, he would’ve reset to a perfect world. One where Emilie didn’t go into the Magic coma, Gabriel never became Hawkmoth, but he still met Marinette. Maybe in that New Timeline, someone else is Hawkmoth. Or there’s a different villain. But still, that’s the point.
That said, ‘Akumatizing Adrien’ should’ve been the tipping point where Gabriel realizes how far gone he is. This should’ve been where he stopped and just- just breaks. Quits. Gives up. And that’s it. The end. At least for this Hawkmoth, since it’s implied someone else steals the Butterfly from him.
Idk. I just feel like the whole plotpoint was rushed and could’ve been done in a way that kept Gabriel’s characterization, did the ‘cool motive still murder’ thing and made it clear he did terrible things, but also kept him as sympathetic and redeemable.

Chat Blanc Review
Ok ... that’s THE episode that encourages me to open this blog ... so it deserves its review of course. I tried to do it in English but my English is a little rusty sorry ...
PS: I think we don’t need anymore SPOILERS ALERT but just in case: SPOILER ALERT!!!
My thoughts
We were waiting for it since we got the episode list ans OMG! This was the most interesting, heartbreaking, emotional episode of the ALL SERIES! Like ... how can still believe that it is a kid show when you watched (and cry your own soul out) Chat Blanc? I mean there is so many things to talk about within these 20minutes!!! Let’s start, do we?
Marinette ultimate confession and gift
Ok so Marinette, you need to stop giving this boy so much gifts! I mean how much presents does he have without knowing that they are actually from you? That’s why I love Marinette so much. She is so selfless, she doesn’t even care about getting credit to her own actions she just wants him to be happy.
But ...
Even if she says that the gift was from his fans, he clearly did see her running with it right? She didn’t change this part of the story! But you know ... it’s Adrien so maybe he didn’t see anything ^^ (I love you Adrien but you are so blind sometimes)
And I love the beret ( Ik that some of you didn’t like it) but ... Man, Adrien wear it everyday. If it is not PURE LOVE, I don’t know what it is!
Bunnix and time travel
I know that a lot of people were confused about this part become of this time travel thing. And mostly because of AdultBunnix still being able to bring PresentLadybug to the future. According to Thomas Astruc, time travel in Miraculous can be considered as similar to what happened in Back to the future. That’s why when she changed the past the future have been changed also (without creation an alternate timeline where cat blanc did happen but PastLadybug have purified him like in the episode).
My theroy about Bunnix are:
Maybe she was travelling through the time when the future changed. Like maybe she was doing something in the past and when she came back she saw the apocalypse created by Cat Blanc. So she tried first to understand when it started and went to our PresentLadybug
Maybe she could feel when there was disturbance in the timeline...idk I don’t have another explanation
THE REVEAL
Ok for this part I need to divide it in three sections:
Reveal n°1: Adrien knows about Marinette/Ladybug
So in this episode, they show us what would happened if Adrien were the first to find out about Ladybug secret identity. (Yes you know how to use your brain now Adrien) . I love that they don’t only show us what would be his reaction regarding Ladybug identity but also how he understands who Ladybug was in love with. And my boy was so happy! ^^ We know now that it will not be a problem for Adrien if he found out about Marinette.
“Peu importe qui il y’a sous ce masque mais je l’aime cette fille” (Adrien Agreste, Origins part 2)
He is already in love with Marinette but he is blind by his love for Ladybug. His heart knows better than him!
Some of you thought that it was not fair that he starts dating Marinette only after he knew about her connection with Ladybug. But for me it was just the first step! He DATES her after so if really he was only in love with her Ladybug-side, don’t you think that she would have notice? We know that Adrien already sees Marinette as an Everyday-Ladybug. She is Ladybug and Ladybug is her! She is the only one to not see that.
By the way: CAN YOU IMAGINE CHAT NOIR TEASING LADYBUG DURING BATLLE! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO FUNNY! ^^
AND THE KISS LIKE IN OBLIVIO ( just to kill us even more, thanks Thomas !)
Reveal n°2: Marinette find out about Chat Noir/ Adrien
Ok this part made me CRY MY SOUL! How dare you Thomas Astruc? ^^ ( you are a genius) I really wanted to show this episode to my 4th-year- old niece but after seeing this part... I knew it was not a good idea! ^^
Marinette x Gabriel relationship : It reminds me a lot of fanfictions but it was so good. I don’t exactly know what to think of what Gabriel says at this moment even if I know that it was only because he wanted to akumatize her. But .. I always had the feeling that Gabriel was an old-fashioned man who will want his son with someone of his social class. Dating the daughter of a baker? I always thought that it could be a problem for him. That’s how I see the character. But when I was hoping for his redemption (yes Gabriel I will talk about you later don’t worry) I saw him liking Marinette because she is kind, loving and most importantly talented (she could take the lead of your campany, man, she wants to be a fashion designer after all). But you broke my heart! YOU send Nathalie ! Ok ...later
Poor Marinette, poor Adrien ... how difficult this part was! For us, for them! Adrien was CRYING! That’s the scene that kill me! It shows how much he loves her, how much he wants to be with her! Imagine the scene without the all AKUMA thing for a minute: he was going to run after her, to beg her to take him back and maybe ... showing her that he was Chat Noir (but secretly this time). They shew us Adrienette becoming true and breaking up in 10 MINUTES! Of course, it was heartbreaking!!!! But damn I love DRAMA ^^
“Ca ne peut pas se terminer ainsi, ce n’est pas possible! Je l’aime ...” (Adrien Agreste, Chat Blanc)
I wonder if after this scene, they have stayed together or Marinette have kept following Gabriel’s orders. Because technically she didn’t know yet that Gabriel was Hawkmoth...
And they bring back the UMBRELLA AND THE RAIN SCENE! I mean I am now pretty sure that the REVEAL will happen under the rain now and with this fucking umbrella!
Reveal n°3: Gabriel find out about Chat Noir/ Adrien
Ok this part is hard ... I always knew that if Gabriel knew one day that Adrien was Chat Noir he could try to bring him to his side. BUT... not like THIS! I understand his happiness when Nathalie told him that one of his biggest enemies could become one of his strongest ally but ... Gabriel he is still your SON! The son that you wanted to protect, to bring back his happiness... but anyways, I will talk later about it in a Theory Post!
What is important in this scene is ... Nathalie reaction! She was SHOCKED AND HESITATING to tell Hawkmoth about it. Nathalie likes Adrien like a son, it is so obvious and at this moment she understands that Gabriel could use him to achieve his goal. He has always wanted to tell Adrien about the truth.
“Si je lui disais il comprendrait j’en suis sûr” (Gabriel Agreste, Style Queen)
The problem was the timing ... when he told Adrien (and we don’t know why it was during a battle) Hawkmoth was in a really bad situation. It was his only issue to get out of it and that’s why it was the HARDEST scene of the episode. Because he was trying so hard to convince his son to join him and at the end he thought that the only solution was to akumatise him and to create the strongest supervillan of his creations. But unfortunately it didn’t end well because... despite Adrien’s love for his mother he couldn’t hurt the love of his life (Man, he loves so much Ladybug it is so beautiful I swear). He couldn’t even hurt his evil dad (because it’s still his father after all). So he tried to use it against him and at the end killed everyone else. Can you imagine how hard it would have been for him to see that he killed the love of his life and his father (in addition with all Paris obviously). IS IT STILL A KID SHOW? This scene was horrible!
So my point is the ADRIENETTE reveal is not exactly the cause of the apocalypse. It was the timing of all REVEALS! They are all linked because of the connections between the characters. At the end, it was not Marinette, Adrien or even Gabriel’s fault (of course it was but let’s think otherwise for a moment) it was how the main reveals were connected to each other. Let me explain:
1)Because Adrien was the first to learn about Ladybug identity, he starts to date Marinette because obviously for Marinette it was not linked to her superhero side and it should have been the best day of her life... so how to refuse? But Adrien kept his identity secret and Marinette in their relationship was Marinette and only Marinette not Ladybug.
2°) Their relationship gave Gabriel a way to akumatise Marinette, it was his goal since Chamelon after all (and Zombizou also). I will try to make a theory about it even if we almost had the reason of why he wants so much to akumatise her in Ladybug.
3°) Because Marinette was Ladybug and he loves her, Adrien tried to stop the akuma and transforms... just in front of Marinette and also Hawkmoth. I think that at this moment Hawkmoth understand that Adrien was not only Chat Noir but Marinette was also Ladybug.
For me, the reveals will happen in a different orders. It will be my next theory post don’t worry ;)
The most badass (and beautiful) super villain: Chat Blanc
I am so in love with Chat Blanc his design was simple but so beautiful! I love how they made him. He is broken and powerful, that’s the worse combinaison! I love how he played with Ladybug calling her My Lady or Marinette and trying to convince her to give her miraculous. He just wants the miraculous to bring back everything he lost. His home, his friends, his family and his love. We saw the similarities between Gabriel and Adrien in this episode: they both wanted the wish to bring back their love. And because Ladybug didn’t want to help him, he was ready to end everything, to kill himself ... to end the pain. We don’t know how long he stayed alone on a roof singing his song but he was so desperate to get Ladybug miraculous because he knows it was the only solution.
And just to enjoy his poses during battle... he is still Adrien the (so handsome) model. The one whom during his first transformation gave to us this pose! ^^
Same talent
Conclusion: Alternative Marinette
At the end of the episode, it is like we changed everything. Because Ladybug fixed everything, we are following now a different Marinette. A Marinette who did not tell her feelings to Adrien, a Marinette who is aware that being in love with Chat Noir can destroy the world, a Marinette who starts feeling this weight on her shoulders. She just wanted to tell the boy she loves her feelings and at the end she learns because of that she could be the reason of the end of the world. And we know that because Marinette is selfless and brave, she is ready to sacrifice her love and happiness in order to save Chat Noir, Adrien ... and the world. WHAT AN EPISODE DAMN!
Hope you enjoy this post! Sorry for its lenth but this episode was so inspiring and I know that I will keep talking about it for a moment.
See you next! ^^

Thomas seems unaware that different cultures parent differently. Sabine’s parental style is more western which is odd because she’s Chinese. Andre by Asian standards is a clown. (FYI I bet MLB’s test audiences are mostly white French kids.)
I don’t know Thomas but it seems like he wants to ignore the parts of Asian cultures aren’t wholesome and saccharine. No culture is perfect, and he shouldn’t whitewash different cultures to make it palatable to white French standards. Or paste over Chinese culture when it contradicts French culture. I’m going to be honest about Asian parenting and you might want to add some content warnings. Here’s an overview of Asian parenting (mainly East and South-East Asia) that brushes over a lot of detail with oversimplifying and overgeneralisation. If you want more accurate information, research specific Asian countries.
Quick disclaimer: due to MLB’s slapstick and comical exaggeration of creepy actions, it makes every bad thing look like comedic instead of serious. Marinette’s stalking is intended to be an over the top exaggerating of a crush. Chloe’s mistreatment of Sabrina is so cartoony villainous, it’s unreal. This makes Gabriel’s harsh punishments look like another joke, that’s looks like it’s purposefully exaggerated. Which kinda has the effect to an Asian kid of “that’s funny, that’s kinda like x event that happened to me.” Like a schoolkid matching Marinette’s stalking to a common playground crush. The problem is MLB can’t pick and chose which actions are intended as a joke and which are serious and scarring. This is why I can’t take Chat Blanc seriously. Every action Gabriel takes in that episode is so outlandishly evil, that how am I suppose to treat that episode’s Gabriel as a real character?
Priority for academic, skills, and conformity is higher. It’s common for Asian kids to start attending tutoring from childhood. Discipline and hard work is important. Tsurugi’s and Gabriel’s parenting styles are more culturally asian. Actually by Asian standards, Gabriel is a far more better father than Andre. Which I know Thomas would refuse to accept that Asian norms are different. By carefully scheduling tutoring sessions and ensuring employment for Adrien, that’s basically how Asian parents show love. From personal experience, Asian kids are more accepting of parental absence.
Showing affection and concern for mental well-being isn’t really prioritised. Not giving your children emotional baggage or not traumatising them is considered low priority. This is very messed up, but important to acknowledge.
A brief overview of social conformity. Or why Andre’s lack of concern of Chloe’s lack of friends is another strike against him. Asian cultures tend to be more collectivist, and value group cohesion, than individualism. If Chloe was in for instance, a Japanese high school, she would be bullied for looking different: low grades, being blonde, unnatural makeup, jewellery. She would also be bullied for disrupting the group, trying to start arguments, trying to divide the group etc. Asian parents tend to advise their children to fit in, don’t act weird, and defer to the group. I would know for being different in a majority Asian school. Since Adrien synergises well with his classmates, it unintentionally says that his parents paid attention to him.
Respecting elders (older people) is super super important in Asian cultures. Chloe bossing her own dad around makes him look incredibly incompetent for failing to instil the bare minimum of manners. I can’t stress how important in Asia, to respect elders. From my POV, it seems like Andre utterly neglected and ignored Chloe.
Welcome to how Thomas unintentionally makes Gabriel look like a competent parent by Asian customs and nearly every other parent look worse. And why are all the parents in MLB, with a more Asian parenting style, villains?
Wow, that was very informative. There’s not much else I can say, but thank you anon.
This really serves to show how little any of the writers understand Asian culture.
