I saw a TikTok about how the characters don’t seem like teenagers because they’re not in school and are played by people in their twenties. The person made a point that they only feel like teens when they have to interact with the adults in the story and to be fair that makes a lot of sense.

Most teenagers don’t feel like kids until they’re faced with adults. They just see themselves as people. I’m 21 and I don’t perceive myself as young as I should until I’m faced with older people then I’m like “oh yeah I’m like super young wtf”.

Besides Edwin and Charles being stuck at their mental age of when they died, whether that’s due to trauma or ghost magic, they’ve still had 30 years of existing behind them.

Crystal might have been immature or a bad person before she lost her memory but she had neglectful parents and probably had to grow up pretty quickly to keep care of herself.

And for Niko I believe the death of a parent can affect someone especially someone so young in a way where they might react by taking on some maturity.

And I think anyway that they do think like teenagers lol, if you look at how they interact with each other and how they deal with their issues.

And also I know it’s always a bit of a jump scare to watch teen shows and the first thing you see are very obviously adults but after what we’ve learned about how children are really treated in the acting industry, until we have a way to properly protect them I think I can deal with having adults play kids lol

for her mutation, she’s basically a blood bender, but with some extra stuff cause i thought just blood bending was a little boring lmao. i'm not the best at explaining things, so hopefully this isn’t all over the place.

in my head, she can manipulate blood that's both inside and outside of the body. she can sort of "possess" peoples bodies by either ingesting their blood or by blood-to-blood contact. if it has a blood stream, she can take it over. it’s not only limited to just the living either, corpses that still have blood in their bodies are easiest for her to manipulate.

she refrains from ever ingesting blood in fear of looking too scary, she only learned and honed the blood-to-blood contact method working with charles and hank. she can also use her own blood (other peoples as well but once again, she doesn't really want to come off as scary) as a weapon by manipulating it into sharp objects once it's spilled.

she hardly possesses living people because it takes a huge toll on her physically and it's still a little too hard for her to execute safely.

i even toyed with the idea of her being able to like...ingest a mutants ability. not forever, but if she takes enough blood from them she can retain a watered down, weaker version of whatever ability they may have for a short period of time, but i'm not so sure about making it 'canon' in my own little universe.

one cause it’s a super similar trait to rogue and two cause i obviously want her abilities to be interesting and powerful in a way, but i don't want to make her too op or a sort of mary sue type character. it's so icky reading ocs that are written to be the strongest mutant ever that body jean and magneto and everyone else under the sun. i don't ever want to give that vibe with this lol please let me know if i do don't spare my feelings like is this cool or is it too extra...

okay so what i have in my head in terms of a backstory is very chaotic and not really fully fledged in any way shape or form! the main idea i have for her is that, as a child, she was sold to a mutant testing lab by her abusive mother. her father left right after her abilities developed, refusing to raise a mutant daughter.

i know i very ominously mentioned the “scientists” and the “experiments” in afilav sort of in passing, but just know she was a mutant before she was tested on! the experiments only affected her mutation. that’s why she reacts more aggressively or viscerally to the sight and smell of blood. however, her enhanced strength and healing are a result of her time in the lab.

anyway long story short she finally broke out of the lab when she was older and started to “work” as like a free agent for a couple years.

killed whoever wherever for whoever for lots of money. she never stayed in one place long. she liked being off the grid, mostly drifting from state to state sleeping in shelters, on park benches, in abandoned cars, but only until she was found by charles xavier.

that's really it! i'm trying to think out some more aspects of her that are only half-baked ideas so i won't bother writing them down lol thanks for the question anon! i had so much fun actually sitting down and writing this.

reader is insanely oblivious but charles is practically all over her, ever since they met she never picked up on his flirting or lingering touches. charles has resigned himself to loving someone who will never love him back the way he wants, and surrounds himself with her to make up for it. he lives off the tastes of her love that he gets, like when she sleeps over because she stays too late and they wake up cuddled up together. or when she comes to his races and is with his team when he finishes and she's the first person he goes to for a hug. or how every time they casually say bye, love you! charles lets himself pretend she’s as in love with him as he is her. then he sees her again and is reminded of it when she doesn’t react when he tries to flirt with her or gets a little handsy when he's drunk. she’s so convinced that he’s just her best friend and that’s all he’ll ever be that when he flirts and puts his hands on her, she tells herself that’s how he acts with everyone.

she’s getting ready for a date while he lounges on her bed. he was cuddled into her pillows while she pulled out dresses and held them up asking his opinion, and he keeps giving unenthusiastic answers, or flat out saying she should cancel the date and stay in with him. then she pulls out a little black dress and says, “oh, i forgot i had this one!” and charles feels his mind spin at the thought of her in the slinky black dress of someone else seeing her in it. her wearing it for someone else. all he can muster up is, “i didn’t know you had that one.” she misses the strange lilt to his voice and teases him, “well i haven’t worn it yet, silly. i’m gonna try it on.” she disappears into the bathroom and returns a moment later, holding the top to her chest as the straps hang loosely down her shoulders “charlie, would you mind?”

yes, i would mind. he thinks. he very much doesn’t want to zip up the dress so another man could take it off her in a few hours. but then she’s turning around and exposing the smooth expanse of her back, the zipper cutting off just above her ass and he can see a bit of red lace peeking out right where it ends. the lack of matching bra makes him clench his jaw as he moves towards her. he trails his finger down her spine until he reaches the zipper and he makes his way back up. as soon as he finishes and she turns around, she sees the look on his face and is immediately asking if she looks okay and he tells her she looks fine. she huffs and reaches behind her to tug it off, “thanks for the enthusiasm, you’re a great hype man! not like i’m freaking out or anything.”

his jaw clenches at hype man, and he groans. “mon dieu, what do you want me to say?”

she whines and bats at his chest, “you always tell me i look pretty even when i’m in sweats, and i’m wearing a dress i’ve been saving for something special, and you’re not even reacting. i can’t even return it anymore and you’ll hate me when you hear how much i spent, so just tell me i look pretty and i’ll have fun on my date tonight.” her hands spread across his chest as she speaks, her eyes locked on them.

his hands find her wrists and he wants to push her away and leave, ask her why she keeps doing this to him. her fingers dig into his skin, sensing he’s going to remove her touch, but he leans into it. “don’t go on the date. i’ll tell you whatever you want… i’ll take you out if you wanna go out, just don’t go out with him, please.” her eyes flick up to his and she’s doesn’t recognize the pleading look in his eyes. his grip tightens on her wrists as she pulls her hands back from his chest and she sees panic set into his features before she presses her hands to his cheeks.

his eyes flutter shut and she breathes, “okay, i won’t go. we can stay in, yeah? we can talk.” he breathes a sigh of relief and nods, “talk, sure.” a moment later his hands leave her wrists and he’s dipping to clasp his hands under her thighs to lift her into the air. her hands stay on his cheeks as he guides her legs around his waist and walks her back to her bed, telling her, “you look incredible, honestly, you do. i’m so glad you aren’t going, if you left me looking like that, god it would break my fucking heart.” she whimpers and her heart stutters at the admission. she doesn’t know what to say, speechless from the sudden realization, so she pulls him in for a kiss to tell him how she feels.

I'm curious about how Charles Xavier would react to one of his students calling him out for his blatant disrespect of other peoples privacy.

Honestly I love Charles’s telepathy almost as much as Erik, and I do think the students that decided to take on the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngesters are mostly all okay with his telepathy.

We don’t really see a lot of students lashing out or getting surprised when Charles reads their thoughts, and that makes sense to me because I think that’s just something that you would expect, because he doesn’t hide it.

That being said, there could still be students that think he’s more low-key about it, or just didn’t do anything early on to indicate Charles’s blatant use and suddenly saw it and was like “Wait wtf”—so I think Charles would react sort of the same way he did to Raven. Respect the boundaries even if it baffled him at first.

He might even throw in a “Alright, I’ll stay away unless you project, or you’re in danger.” And if it goes further that just that student, I don’t think he’d react negatively or hide it away from everyone, because I think that would be a disclaimer for his students regardless, and he might just explain that.

Again, I love when he doesn’t hide his telepathy because that’s his mutation, his schools for mutants, they all use their mutations openly and are taught to practice it and etc.

i think that many people in this fandom should go outside and touch grass for a moment, and try to remember that the drivers irl are not the same as the characters that we use for rpf fics.

"omg but i loved the characterisation of X in Y fic soooo much" that's great... but that characterisation is still not a reflection of who X is irl.

for example. "i can't believe charles said that, why would he say that? it's not who he is :/" girl. maybe that's not who he is in fic, and he probably wouldn't say that in your 21k charlos slowburn fest, but in real life, where he is a real person, he most absolutely can and did in fact say that.

just. it's fine to make the drivers say and do whatever the flying fuck you want in fic, but it's SO important to keep that line between reality and fiction firmly in mind.

A disclaimer: obviously some people are fully believing the weird theories and genuinely think Kate is dead but those people are insane. Also, some people have no idea this is an issue - my grandma, for example.

I think most people fall into three categories. Category one: people who are enjoying the memes and jokes but think it's all gone a bit far and people have gone mad over a bit of photoshop. Category two: people who are really enjoying the memes and don't care about it. Category three: people who are furious at the jokes and memes and blame Meghan.

At the risk of repeating myself, people do not think about the royals. When the Queen died, when Philip died, when Harry and Meghan left, when Andrew did Newsnight, people were talking about it. It came up in staffrooms, on the bus, in houses. Even when Charles was diagnosed with cancer, it was a proper topic of conversation. No one is having genuine real life conversations at work about "where is Kate?" I'm not saying no one in Britain is talking about it but I'm saying few people in Britain are either genuinely worried about Kate, worried this is the end of the monarchy, or celebrating the end of the monarchy.

Furthermore, this is very much a social media phenomenon. That's not to say none of it is offline - AFP describing KP as "untrustworthy" - but is predominantly online and most people are not online. So I had a dream where the ladies went out shopping and Tilly assigned me duty of watching the men. I apparently thought it was a great idea to go around petting everyone and this is how it went (I try to remember to jot down all my dreams in a notepad file): Jack: Jack BIT me.
