More Georgia State University “Alt-Right” Racists APRIL 12, 2017

On September 10, 2016, white nationalists of the Georgia “Alt-Right” had a gathering at Stone Mountain Park outside Atlanta. Over a dozen white nationalists were recorded by a visitor to the Park, as they chanted “Alt-Right, Alt-Right!” and addressed her with sexist and antisemitic jeers (e.g. “Christ killer,” “Jews don’t wear panties.”) Two leaders of the “Alt-Right” group, Patrick Sharp and Casey Cooper, wore shirts for The Right Stuff, a far-Right racist website.

In the Metro Atlanta area, white nationalists associated with the “Alt-Right” have had a wave of activity in recent months, seemingly energized first by the Trump campaign and then by Trump’s presidential victory. Racist stickers and posters have appeared on Atlanta-area campuses; there have been several local networking events; and on January 28, 2017, “Alt-Right” white nationalists and Southern secessionists gathered for the larger “Atlanta Forum” regional gathering in Marietta.

Core activists of the energized local “Alt-Right” were caught in action at Stone Mountain on September 10 last year. While typically local “Alt-Right” racists meet in secrecy, this time they got recorded. Three of the white nationalists who appeared on Stone Mountain in September are discussed below. All three are Georgia State University students. (Patrick Sharp, one of the leaders of the “Alt-Right” group on the Mountain, was also until recently a GSU student — we have discussed Sharp extensively elsewhere.)

Charles (Chaz) Neugebauer

Charles Neugebauer is a Criminal Justice major at GSU and is the President of the University’s Boxing Club. On Twitter, Chaz Neugebauer uses the handle “Chud”/@chaz_nuke. This account follows local “Alt-Right” profiles plus better-known national ones such as TheRightStuff and Richard Spencer. On this Twitter account, Neugebauer portrays immigration in Europe as an “invading army” and further signals his far-Right worldview in comments such as: “Your ancestors didn’t fight and die for you to chose [sic] their adversaries over your own people.”

One string of Twitter comments complains about being “called a racist” in one of his current classes. We can only guess what led to that.

Chase Carroll

Chase Riggs Carroll is another GSU Criminal Justice student, friend of Chaz Neugebauer, and a participant in the GSU Boxing Club. At the September 2016 “Alt-Right” gathering in Stone Mountain Park, Carroll carried a Confederate Battle Flag. At the time, Carroll’s hair was long, but he has since shifted to a stricter, shorter style.

Chaz Neugebauer and Chase Carroll have been seen conferring with Spencer Madison, another far-Right militant attending GSU. [1]

McKinley Witzler

Finally, McKinley Witzler is listed as a Political Science student on GSU’s MeritPages site. Witzler has a Security job with Georgia State, and has been spotted working nights around campus.

Witzler’s radicalization towards the Right seems to have occurred last year. On June 15, 2016, Witzler attended a Trump campaign stop at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Also in June, Witzler started his (now gone) “12thCenturyShitlord”/@USBarbarossa Twitter account, which he used to argue that BlackLivesMatter protests should be “crushed,” that voting rights for women should be repealed, and that “jews run the media, finances, schools, governments, and blame everything on Whites.”

We believe that McKinley Witzler followed his “12thCenturyShitlord” Twitter account with one named “9thCenturyDeplorable”/@USCharlemagne which has recently been reactivated.

On November 13, 2016 — the day after white nationalist posters and stickers were placed on Atlanta-area campuses as part of a coordinated propaganda campaign — USCharlemagne Tweeted “There’s some naughty goyim in Atlanta.” This suggests the user’s approval of and possibly involvement with the white power action, which was coordinated nationally by TheRightStuff and which hit GSU as well as other campuses in Georgia.

The “9thCenturyDeplorable”/USCharlemagne account was relaunched on March 22 of this year. The first post of the reborn account was a Holocaust reference: “Rev up those ovens, I’m back!” The profile currently lists its “dislikes” as “Saracens” — a term for Muslims from the time of the Crusades — as well as “Jews.”

While McKinley Witzler was photographed on Stone Mountain with long hair, Witzler has now adopted the undercut short hairstyle favored by the Alt-Right — perhaps an attempt to fit in with his militant racist pals.

Conclusion

“Alt-Right” racists are slowly moving from internet posting to concrete activity on campuses and in communities. We highlighted three participants in the local “Alt-Right” scene who were filmed at a 2016 white power gathering. At Georgia State, one of them could be your classmate, the security person in your building, or the person instructing how to throw an efficient punch. We believe that white power activists such as Neugebauer, Carroll and Witzler should be taken seriously. Any attempts they may make to organize against people of color, Muslims, Jewish people, sexual minorities, or other targets must be opposed. It is essential that anti-racists build active networks and broader coalitions that are up for the task.

It wasn't only in the countries of the northern hemisphere that the situation of war unleashed popular riots and vandalism against people of the German, Italian and Japanese community and/or their property. As should be expected, it also happened here in Brazil, during both World Wars. 

Ricardo Chaves published a interesting article in his column in the newspaper Zero Hora, about the attacks on local German business here in our state, Rio Grande do Sul, during the Second World War. Here is a free translation of his article:

According to the book “Indústria de Ponta – Uma História da Industrialização no Rio Grande do Sul” (High-end industry – A History of the Industrialization in Rio Grande do Sul), by Eduardo Bueno and Paula Taitelbaum, our state lived contradictory moments during the Second World War. If on the one hand the conflict was beneficial for the local industry, opening more markets for our textile, rubber and armament related factories and, specially, the metallurgical sector, on the other hand, the fact that the great majority of those entrepreneurs was composed of Germans or Italians – or their descendants – made them and their business the prime target of popular wrath, even more after the sinking of the Brazilian ship Baapendi, torpedoed by the German submarine U-507, in August 1942.

The authors of the book also remember that the great flood of 1941 had already caused much damage, as the factories that were located at the banks of the river Guaíba had their plants and deposits flooded. In the following year, it was the furious mob which invaded and attacked the shops and factories belonging to immigrants or businessmen with foreign names.

“Being full of Germans, the city of Porto Alegre was the epicenter of the popular fury. The riot began in Praia Street, with attacks on the Woltmann bakery and the Lyra House, but soon reached the factories, like Neugebauer and Renner. The Berta Foundry, owned at the time by Alberto Bins, which escaped the popular riots that occurred during World War One, wasn’t spared this time. The Wallig factory was spared because the rioters reached it as the workers were leaving and stopped them. In the city of Rio Grande, the cigar factory Poock never recovered from the attacks. The Rottermund print shop, from the city of São Leopoldo, was not vandalized, but had to print, out of their own pocket, pamphlets advertising that from now on it was forbidden to speak in Italian, German and Japanese”, says the book.

Our reader, Sidney Charles Day, remembers that some Germans had their radios confiscated by the police, “to prevent espionage…” He cites as example of the situation created by the war: “My auntie, Hilda Ricgert, Brazilian-born and married to a German, had to obtain a safe-conduct from the police to take vacations on Cidreira, back in 1944!”

Bob Dylan, Glenn Close, Daniel Radcliffe, and Gloria Steinem are all on a New York stage one way or another in October, always a good month for theater.

This year’s October is likely the busiest ever, thanks to the addition of the hundred shows in the New York International Fringe Festival, which for the first time has been moved from August to October.

Three shows are opening on Broadway in October: Elaine May returns to Broadway in a star-studded revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s “The Waverly Gallery”; Daniel Radcliffe, Cherry Jones and Bobby Cannavale star in “Lifespan of a Fact,” a true story that starts with one of our society’s unheralded heroes – a fact checker. Jez Butterworth’s “The Ferryman” is one of the several plays that month about a stranger who visits…and turns everything upside down.

Off-Broadway’s promising shows include a re-imagined “Oklahoma”; an evening of Beckett performed by Bill Irwin; and a new Bob Dylan musical with a book by Conor McPherson. Glenn Close stars as Joan of Arc’s mother. Christine Lahti portrays Gloria Steinem.

Off-Off Broadway, filmmaker Todd Solondz makes his theatrical debut, and two plays by Samuel D. Hunter are joined together into a dinner theater, New York style.

Today’s discussion is the eighth post in my new “Beautiful Editions” series. In case you’ve missed the previous article in which I mentioned various versions of Little Women, I will link it here.

Just a recap of what to expect in my Beautiful Editions series:

I know many people who collect beautiful editions of their favorite books, myself being one of them. I think this “Beautiful Editions” series will be good for those of you searching for the next beauty to add to your ever growing collection. Each post I will discuss a different book.

Back in September, I discussed part one of my Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland recommendations. Today we will explore more beautiful editions of that same classic tale.

Let’s get started, shall we?

THE BOOKS

1. Roads Children’s Classics Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Roads Publishing Format: Paperback ISBN13: 9781909399853

Roads Publishing started with just a line of adult classics. Due to popular demand however, they eventually came out with a collection geared more towards children. Each book is printed in paperback format and features french flaps. The spines look beautiful lined up as they all come in pastel hues. Even though there is no artwork in some of the other books such as The Secret Garden, this edition of Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland does include 10 black and white illustrations throughout.

2. Knickerbocker Classics Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Racepoint Publishing Format: Paperback (Flexibound) ISBN13: 9781631061707

Race Point Publishing has two options for their Knickerbocker series. You can choose between a hardcover that comes in a slipcase, or a flexibound like the above edition of Alice’s Adventure’s In Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. The flexibound versions have elastic to keep them closed, much like a moleskine journal. This is perfect if you just want to pull out your book real quick while on the go. Not to mention, the patterned covers are absolutely stunning.

3. Paper Mill Classics Buy: Book Outlet Publisher: Paper Mill Press Format: Imitation Leather ISBN13: 9781926444260

Paper Mill Press recently published a collection of classics specifically for Book Outlet. Each book is bound in a suede-like custom cover with beautiful metallic foiling. Also included is a ribbon marker. Other titles in this series range from Little Women and Frankenstein, all the way to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Wuthering Heights.

4. The Heirloom Collection Buy: Amazon Publisher: Two Lions Format: Hardcover ISBN13: 9781612184159

This hardcover edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland actually comes as a part of a box set called The Enchanted Collection. There are five children’s classics in total, all of which come in a gorgeous slipcase with a magnetic closure. Each book has sprayed edges, a ribbon bookmark, and various full-color illustrations throughout. The other four titles include, Little Women, The Wind in the Willows, The Secret Garden, and Black Beauty.

5. Little Golden Book Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Random House, Inc. Format: Hardcover ISBN13: 9780736426701

Little Golden Books have been popular ever since their first year of production way back in 1942. Due to the fact that this is an adaptation of the 1951 Disney film, this edition is extremely abridged. Nonetheless, this would still make a great addition to any true Alice fan’s collection. I think we all know what these books look and feel like by now, so I won’t trouble you guys with a description.

6. The Penguin Collection Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Penguin Classics Format: Paperback ISBN13: 9780141391434

This paperback edition is a part of The Penguin Collection which was originally published in 1935 by Allen Lane. Although I am unsure if there are any illustrations inside, the pink cover is enough to catch anyone’s eye.

7. Classics Reimagined Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Rockport Publishers Inc. Format: Hardcover ISBN13: 9781631590757

The Classics Reimagined series features beautiful collector’s editions of unabridged classic novels. Each book in this collection is illustrated by a different contemporary artist from around the world. The illustrator for the hardcover edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is Andrea D’Aquino. Other books in this series include Sherlock Holmes and Pride and Prejudice. This edition also includes 100 full color illustrations.

8. Folio Society Edition Buy: Folio Society Publisher: Folio Society Format: Hardcover ISBN13: N/A

Folio Society publishes some pretty amazing versions of classics. The above hardback editions of Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland and Through the Looking-glass were quarter-bound in blocked cloth with printed paper sides. Both books come together in a plain slipcase and include 93 red drawings. You simply can’t go wrong when purchasing this set.

9. Barnes and Noble Collectible Edition Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Barnes & Noble Format: Bonded Leather ISBN13: 9781435160736

This is a gorgeous collectible edition from Barnes & Noble. It includes Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Both stories feature the colored classic illustrations of John Tenniel as well as bonded leather binding, a satin-ribbon bookmark, and beautiful gilt edging.

10. Disney Cinestory Comic Buy: Amazon Publisher: Joe Books Inc. Format:  Hardcover ISBN13: 9781987955224

This edition is basically the Disney film is graphic novel form. Not only does it feature over a thousand movie stills, but it’s also printed in a limited edition hardcover format, as well.

11. Camille Rose Garcia Edition Buy: Barnes & Noble Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Format: Hardcover ISBN13: 9780061886577

The Camille Rose Garcia edition will always intrigue me due to the gorgeous colors and artwork.

This deluxe hardcover was printed on thick paper and features four-color art throughout. These include but are certainly not limited to, full-page illustrations, numerous double-page spreads, and a whole lot of whimsical art in between.

12. 150th Anniversary Edition Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Cider Mills Press Format: Hardcover ISBN13: 9781604335729

In honor of the 150th anniversary of Alice, Cider Mills Press published this collector’s edition of Alice’s Adventures Underground which features never-before-seen drawings from artist Charles Santore, as well as an introduction by Michael Patrick Hearn. This hardcover was actually named after Lewis Carroll’s original title for the story we all know and love today. Alice’s Adventures Under Ground was indeed the provisional name in which Carroll gave his work. He also accompanied the text with sketches to bring his story to life. Cider Mill’s anniversary edition is basically an unabridged adaptation of that original tale.

This is honestly one of the best additions to any collector’s library, and certainly a must-have for any Alice lover.

13. Barnes and Noble Collectible Edition Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Barnes & Noble Inc Format: Bonded leather ISBN13: 9781435122949

This is a beautiful collectible edition from Barnes & Noble. It includes pretty much everything that Lewis Carroll ever published in book form. Stories range from the most popular, Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and go all the way to Sylvie and Bruno and The Hunting of the Snark. All of Lewis Carroll’s poetry, essays, and miscellaneous writings are included as well. The design itself features breathtaking endpapers in a stunning pattern, black and white illustrations, gilded edges, a ribbon bookmark, and foiling on the cover.

14. Miniedition Minibooks Buy: Book Depository Publisher:  Michael Neugebauer (Publishing) Ltd Format: Hardcover ISBN13: 9789888341016

This hardcover edition was illustrated by artist Lisbeth Zwerger. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any more information on this volume other than that. I do however, know that this is a miniature hardback at just 7 inches in height.

15. Five Mile Edition Buy: Book Depository Publisher: Five Mile Format: Hardcover ISBN13: 9781743003787

This beautiful volume of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was published as part of a collection of classics that were written specifically for younger readers. The book’s interior design also features various illustrations by artist Eric Kincaid. Although this is an abridged version, the story itself still includes all the same delightful characters as before.

16. Collins Classics Edition Buy: Book Depository Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Format: Paperback ISBN13: 9780008182311

Unfortunately, not much information could be found about the interior design of this edition. I will say however, that I am loving the fact that the cover designer chose to focus on the flamingos and croquet scene over everything else. A very unique choice indeed!

The Complete Alice, is probably one of my most favorite editions on this list. This stunning hardcover includes both Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, and was printed by the original publisher, Macmillan. It is jam packed with amazing exclusive extra features from the Macmillan archive as well as a foreword by Philip Pullman.

The design itself boasts an amazing die-cut cover with intricate embossed two foil detail, head and tail bands, red foiled edges and a ribbon marker. In addition, the number of illustrations in this volume are endless. These include color versions of Sir John Tenniel’s original artwork. Also included is some non-fiction content telling the true story of how Alice was not only written, but published as well. I truly could not recommend this gift edition enough.

Knickerbocker Classics are always a great option when collecting a favorite book, and their version of Alice is certainly no exception. Inside, readers can also find 300 color photos as well.

In terms of design, this Knickerbocker Classics edition includes cloth binding, a slipcase, ribbon bookmark, and an introduction by Lori Campbell.

Artist Maggie Taylor mixes various historical art methods such as European iconography and Victorian portraiture with other movements like Surrealism and digital technology, in order to create a beautiful work of pure genius. The book’s interior is complemented by Carroll’s full text of the original story as well.

Penguin English Library is an imprint of Penguin Books, and was originally created as a sister series to the similarly designed Penguin Classics hardcover versions. Every title in this collection is a classic work of literature whether it be modern or on the more historical side. The cover art always includes a repeating design with motifs that symbolize a certain theme or scene in the said book. Not only is each individual book beautiful on it’s own, but they look great lined up together as well. Unfortunately, there are no illustrations inside.

The above hardcover was illustrated by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Company. Bond did the covers for other coming of age stories as well. Titles include Anne of Green Gables, A Little Princess, Heidi and Little Women. The big difference between this title and the ones previously mentioned is that this is much larger, includes a dust jacket and is completely illustrated with full-color.

I highlighted the ones in California and ones who have leadership roles and some others, God help you if you live in any of these states. Local authorities and constituencies are not listening when hate crimes are committed. It is our job to not let them forget. Matthew Shepard was left for dead in a field in 1998. These good ole boys live in areas where hate crime is acceptable along with bigotry being taught in their churches and to their children. This isn’t simply a no vote it is an endorsement to mess with people who often are older, disabled and mentally ill. The rural counties are the worst and something must be done because urban areas don’t want to get involved and make this transparent that they just continue on with their brow beating and ‘you will never be equal’ mindset. See they know that if they keep you down they can keep doing what they do. You will be too afraid to even go out because they own the churches and the shops and the roads where they can HATE, legally.

p style=”text-align: justify;”>Mit dem Sieg des US-Amerikaners Tyler Bowers endete der erste Abend des diesjährigen 15. Int. ADAC Supercross Chemnitz. Nach 20 langen Runden des Finales der Top-Klasse SX1 setzte sich der 26-jährige Pfeil-Kawasaki-Pilot gegen die beiden Franzosen Charles Lefrancois und Sulivan Jaulin durch. Der Lokalmatador Dominique Thury fuhr nach schlechtem Start bis auf Rang fünf nach vorn.

Dabei hatte der Abend für Tyler Bowers eher bescheiden angefangen. Nachdem er im Zeittraining am Nachmittag der Schnellste aller Starter war, reihte er sich in seinem Qualifikationsrennen zunächst als Zweiter ein. Aus der zweiten Runde kam er allerdings nur als Letzter zurück aus dem Tunnel, durch den die Chemnitzer Strecke die längste im Kalender des ADAC SX Cups ist. „Das Motorrad von Boris Maillard ging in der Einfahrt in den Tunnel quer, ich konnte nicht ausweichen und bin voll in ihn hinein gekracht. Wir konnten zwar beide weiterfahren, doch zu allem Unglück hat sich mein Stiefel in seinem Hinterrad verklemmt, was viel Zeit kostete“; klärte der „König von Chemnitz“ von 2012 anschließend auf. Und weiter: „Vor dem Hoffnungslauf war ich dann ziemlich nervös, dass nicht noch einmal etwas schiefgeht.“ Das war nicht der Fall – ganz im Gegenteil, denn mit einer fehlerfreien Fahrt schaffte er den Einzug ins Finale letztlich souverän.

In diesem erwischte Charles Lefrancois den besten Start und führte lange Zeit das Rennen an. Der Tscheche Filip Neugebauer lag zunächst auf Platz zwei, gefolgt von Sulivan Jaulin sowie die beiden US-Boys Matt Bisceglia und Tyler Bowers. Der Schneeberger Dominique Thury rangierte währenddessen auf Platz acht.

Nachdem sich Tyler Bowers bis auf Platz zwei nach vorn gearbeitet hatte, machte er Jagd auf Charles Lefrancois, an dem er in der zwölften von 20 Runden schließlich vorbeigehen konnte. „Beim deutschen Saisonauftakt in Stuttgart kam ich überhaupt nicht in den Rhythmus und da ich nach schwachem Training immer weit außen starten musste, war das praktisch ein Wochenende zum Vergessen“, erklärte der letztlich sogar deutlich unterlegene und fügte an: „Die Chemnitzer Strecke ist viel technischer und anspruchsvoller, das gefällt mir. Ich muss aber zugeben, dass Tyler vor allem im Waschbrett deutlich schneller war. Deshalb Glückwunsch an den heutigen Sieger.“

Dieser führte bei der an die Sektspritzerei anschließenden Pressekonferenz des Weiteren aus: „Was die Strecke angeht, kann ich mich nur anschließen. Sie ist sehr schwierig und bietet einige Überholmöglichkeiten. In Stuttgart konnte man im Prinzip nur mit unfairen Mitteln überholen, aber hier kann man auch von einem schlechten Startplatz aus noch etwas reißen, wie man gesehen hat.“

Das gelang auch Dominique Thury, der, nachdem er im Vorfeld die Zielstellung Top 5 ausgegeben hatte, vom achten Rang noch auf den von ihm selbst ausgelobten fünften Platz hinter dem Drittplatzierten Sulivan Jaulin und dem Vierten Filip Neugebauer nach vorn fahren konnte. Dennoch war der noch bis zum 7. Dezember 24-jährige Schneeberger nicht restlos zufrieden. Er sagte: „Mein Ziel Top 5 habe ich zwar erreicht, aber wenn man in seiner Trainingsgruppe der Schnellste ist und seinen Quali-Lauf gewinnt, ist ein fünfter Platz im Finale nur schwer zu akzeptieren. Aber darauf lässt sich aufbauen. Ich habe gesehen, was in diesem Feld möglich ist. Mit guten Starts sollte am Samstag noch mehr drin sein, also lautet das Motto: voll auf Angriff.“

In der direkten Nachwuchsklasse SX2 der bis 21-Jährigen hatte Tyler Bowers Teamkollege Nicolas Barcelo anfangs die Nase vorn, doch nachdem er alsbald im Waschbrett auf selbiger lag, hatte er mit dem Ausgang des Rennens nicht mehr viel zu tun. Stattdessen fochten die beiden Teamkollegen von „Nique“ Thury bei DIGA-Procross, Iker Larranaga und Adrien Malaval einen schönen Strauß aus. Eine Zeit lang sah es so aus, als würde der Spanier einem kontrollierten Sieg entgegenfahren, doch gegen Rennende geriet dieser noch einmal mächtig unter Druck des Franzosen. Letztlich setzte sich auch hier ein einstiger sächsischer SX-Adliger durch, denn vor drei Jahren hieß der „Prinz von Chemnitz“ Iker Larranaga. Der gab spät am Abend, respektive kurz nach der Geisterstunde, zu Protokoll: „Ich bin ein Jahr kein Supercross gefahren und habe mich voll auf die MX2-Motocross-WM konzentriert, so dass ich in Stuttgart noch zu viele Fehler gemacht habe. Hier habe ich mich deutlich wohler auf der Strecke gefühlt und hatte vor allem im Finale einen guten Speed. Nun bin ich ein bisschen unter Druck, denn Prinz möchte ich natürlich gern noch einmal werden.“

Mit Julien Lebeau, ebenfalls aus Frankreich, auf Platz drei stand auch hier ein Pfeil-Kawasaki-Pilot auf dem Podest, und hinter dessen Landsmann Lucas Imbert wurde der Braunschweiger Nico Koch wieder bester Deutscher.

In der SX3 war der 13-Jährige Carl Ostermann in allen Sessions der Schnellste, so auch im Finale, welches der Bonner souverän vor Nick Domann aus Meseberg und Paul Bloy aus Biberach gewann. Die beiden einheimischen Piloten Justin Weirauch und Luka Pfalz schnitten höchst unterschiedlich ab. Während der zuerst genannte Thalheimer mit Platz fünf sein bestes Saisonergebnis erzielte, konnte der Chemnitzer nach einem Sturz zwar zunächst weiterfahren, musste dann aber die Segel streichen.

Nachdem sich die gastgebende C³ Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH über den größten Run auf die begehrten Tickets an einem Freitag seit Bestehen des Supercross freuen durfte, ist auch am in der Vergangenheit immer besser besuchten Samstag von einer vollen Hütte auszugehen. Für alle jene, die am Abschlusstag noch live dabei sein wollen, wird es an der Abendkasse noch Rest-Tickets, im schlimmsten Fall für den Stehplatz-Bereich, geben. Senate Democrats are adamantly fighting back against growing calls for President-elect Donald Trump to fire Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray.

On a press call on Tuesday, Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer, D-New York, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Banking Committee Ranking Member Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, reinforced previous calls that firing Cordray would shatter Trump’s promise to keep Wall Street accountable.

In conjunction with the call, the three senators, along with other Senate Banking Committee Democrats, sent to a letter to Cordray, praising him for his outstanding work as director of the CFPB, emphasizing the need for his leadership at the agency in Trump’s Administration.

Last week, Trump met with former Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, since he is considering Neugebauer to run the CFPB. While Neugebauer has yet to be offered the job, no other candidates are being looked at yet.

However, right now, Neugebauer can only take over the CFPB if Trump fires Cordray when he takes office. And under current law, the president may only remove the director for “inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office.” Warren emphasized during the call that “no agency has been fired for cause. It’s an extreme and unprecedented step.”

“To make it clear,” Warren said. “Under Richard Cordray, the CFPB is doing its job on behalf of the American people. The CFPB is working, and Cordray has been a successful leader of the agency.”

She noted that at some point there will be a different president, and at that point, that president can appoint someone. However, “right now, we have someone who stands up for the consumer. We want to hang onto that person, as the law requires,” she said.

Schumer equated firing Cordray to there being no cop on the beat. “The person fighting the same regulatory that sparked the Great Recession would be gone,” he said.

And if Trump did select Neugebauer to replace Cordray, Schumer said it would be the equivalent of putting a sharped toothed fox in the chicken coop and putting the biggest arsonists in the firehouse.

Brown rhetorically asked, “Why would Trump want to go after the bureau in his first week of office?” And if he did, Senate Democratic wouldn’t let him go easily

“If he tries to act outside of the law, there would be a real battle in court,” said Warren. “This isn’t the thing where he can say you’re fired and cut to commercial.”

Schumer said, “If trump intends to keep any of his promises, he would keep Richard Cordray as his CFPB director.

Raja Feather Kelly is one of the busiest choreographers Off-Broadway, with a half dozen shows currently or soon to be on stage. All but one of them are straight plays.
