so apparently apple is using usb-c cables now which i didn't fucking know and of course the cables that come with the phone are usb-c on both ends so that you have to buy their stupid fucking charging blocks too and my idiot car decided that it refuses to connect to anything via bluetooth anymore, meaning until i get a usb-c/usb-a cable (ordered one that's supposed to get here today but it's looking more like tomorrow) i have to listen to the radio in my car, which is less than ideal bc i don't like the commercials, but i did hear edge of seventeen for the first time in ages this morning so maybe it's not all bad
#honestly i do not care about apple vs android but i hate how apple does these little things to inconvenience their users for more money#all the charging cables used to be usb a at one side even when they switched to stupid lightning#im just glad they switched to usb c instead if some new inscrutable apple-only format bc i have other usb c cables#they are just not long enough to use outside the house#tirah talks#anyway fuck all that shit JUST LIKE A WHITE WINGED DOVE SINGS A SONG SOUNDS LIKE SHES SINGIN

An almost Lightning-free gadget existence
Upgrading from my iPad mini 5 to an iPad mini 6 almost two weeks ago hasn’t made a huge difference in my tablet usage aside from my needing to remap Touch ID fingerprint unlocking from a large button below the screen to a power button at the top right. But it’s already yielded a huge improvement every time I need to charge the thing: I don’t need to find a Lightning cable. Because this tablet…

i like the wireless-ness and noise cancelling capabilities of my new headphones but remembering to shut your headphones off and having to charge them will take some getting used to
#ended up with near identical pairs of skullcandy headphones this week#got a pair for at home on black friday (and bc my work ones were dying and we were unsure if my boss had remembered to order new ones)#(lo and behold he DID remember so i got black skullcandies for work and white for home)#anyway now i have 2 british robot women chirping 'battery low' at me#my only complaint is the charging cable is teensy and also needs an old style usb#at home thats less of an issue but at the office i have a newish macbook with only usb-c ports so i had to buy an adapter

thunderbolt 4 literally is a cloaca some of the base models only ship with 1-2 of them now
#thats the worst punchline too#it's not even usb C it's thunderbolt 4#so it's partially compatible but not entirely#i've had plenty of issues with usb devices not functioning properly due to driver incompatibility w apple silicon#this is also why generic USB C devices won't charge off an apple charger or cable#it's the same connector#same pins#but slightly different so that apple maintains control

i really love my tablet i wished it worked reliably :/
#its a wacom intuos pro and the charging port is unreliable#ive had it fixed in the past but it still will only charge if the cable is laying in a certain way#and i cant use it when its plugged in bc its so sensitive#and the battery only lasts a few hours#guh#its too expensive to replace and the listing on the site doesnt say if theyve replaced the port with a usb c#im very attached to that specific model of tablet for reasons unfortunately#forget i even spoke

grown ass adult woman figures out you can still use the usb c port to charge laptop after owning it for nearly three years
#girlieposting#was literally moments away from buying a second magsafe cable so i could have a spare#but apparently i don't need it i can use a regular ass usb c cable#i'm so stupid#serious question though should i buy a second retractable usb c cable bc i do need two cables#like i have a two port charger i specifically bought to charge both my laptop & phone at the same time (/& ipad)#but i would feel silly carrying two of the same cable#like i need the double charging...#and i do have other usb c cables around somewhere but they're not retractable

My phone has REVIIIIIIVED
#It wouldn't start for an entire week after I connected it to a charging USB-C cable to my screen#And I was about to leave it at a repair shop for getting the battery checked or fixed but thankfully I tried the soft-reboot button click#And it WORKED this time#Was hoping I just needed to wait and let it die from the weird charge but It Didn't Turn Off so I thought it would be stuck#In eternal broken battery mode

Honestly, SAE-J1772 and CCS1 wouldn't be that bad of a charging standard if they hadn't given it the USB Type B SuperSpeed treatment.
#imo it isn't bad at all but J3400 & NACS certainly have the beauty factor which helped them win the plug war#although imo NACS is still akin to a Lightning Cable and not USB-C#i have serious concerns about the future proofing of NACS vs CCS1 since the latter has larger DC pins but oh well i guess#|||#rambles#electric cars#usb#tech#technology#electric car#electric vehicles#ev#evs#charger#charging
