Things Left Behind (1280 words) by eirenical
Summary:
Yun Biqiu has brought his mistress a gift. It may be tattered and torn, but it's still oh, so much fun to play with, and Jiao Liqiao enjoys little more than a brand new toy.
Jiao Liqiao ran a hand down the crossed fabric of Li Xiangyi's robes. The material was thin. Rough. Poor quality. Several layers deep to make up for its lack of weight. And it was stained almost as red as her own now. She turned to the man standing beside her and clicked her teeth. "Such a shame, Biqiu. Do you always deliver presents in such damaged condition?"
Yun Biqiu bent nearly double in his bow to her—more, some would argue, than was her due, but she would never deny a useful tool the right to venerate her as he saw fit. "My apologies. I was careless."
Jiao Liqiao turned back to Li Xiangyi and ran her hands down the center line of his robes once more, pausing only when she reached his belt. As she started picking apart the closure, Biqiu shifted beside her, his unease rolling out into the room like the smell of rotting fruit. She pulled the belt from Li Xiangyi's waist and started slowly peeling back the many layers until she'd reached his innermost garments. Biqiu's tension was palpable, now, like an itch against her skin. Eventually she snapped, "Go and fetch a basin of water and a cloth."
Notes, tags, detailed warnings, and other fic info beneath the cut.
September 1, 2024: This idea has been kicking around my head ever since I noticed that the robes that Li Xiangyi is wearing when Biqiu stabs him in Episode 36 are not the ones he's wearing when he wakes up in the dungeon in episode 37. Someone must have undressed and redressed him while he was unconscious. So I've decided the someone was Jiao Liqiao and let her have a little fun. 😏
Detailed Warnings: As implied by the tags, Li Lianhua is unconscious through the entire fic and thus can't consent to anything that's going on (thus the tags).
In terms of what Jiao Liqiao actually does to him, it's mostly touching him nonsexually, undressing him, digging her fingers into his stab wound, and one kiss towards the end.
She is however, planning to do quite a bit more once he's awake and that is apparent in her thoughts throughout the fic.
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: 莲花楼 | Mysterious Lotus Casebook (TV) Rating: Mature Warnings: Rape/Non-Con Relationships: Jiao Liqiao/Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi Characters: Jiao Liqiao, Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi, Yun Biqiu Additional Tags: Non-Consensual Somnophilia, (mostly touching nothing overtly sexual except in jiao-jie's thoughts), Captivity, Torture, Wound Play, Undressing, Dressing, Treating Someone Like a Doll, Rape/Non-con Elements, Unconsciousness

Lily liveblogs: Thunderbolt Fantasy 4x04
This episode has everything.
we open with Ba Wang Yu eating a giant chicken han jiao wing on a stick. look. you have me right there. I would watch an entire episode of demon meshi "fireside cooking with ba wang yu".
"Mantis" turns up and she even offers him a piece!!! Ba Wang yu is so great.
it turns out her powers allow her to draw strength from the foes she consumes, even more so than normal, hence why she's so devoted to eating and I love it.
"Mantis" goes to poke Spider, who is super-into choking people with chains, but just has to brag to his junior about how he knows Locust's true identity, hahaha
meanwhile, cyborg grandpa's rampage continues.... but our own beloved mad scientist grandpa USES HIS CANE AS A POGO STICK to flip into a cave and comes out with a goddamn mech, I am LIVING
thunderbolt fantasy truly means never having to say you're making it up and god bless
I joked about this last episode, but I didn't think they'd actually do it, but they did and it's AWESOME. new levels of puppetry achieved.
I thought cyborg grandpa was also going to transform into a mech or reveal a cool new feature of his robot arm, but instead he isekai's everybody to the demon realm and dies just at the moment his life's wish is granted because even minor characters are not immune to dramatic irony. GO OFF KING.
chao feng gets slammed to the ground and her officer guy is having a freakout, meanwhile Tian Ming gets caught by the mech and gently lowered to the ground.
chao feng is learning the hard way why daddy always delegates, lololol
meanwhile, Lang is cornered by Jia Li and forced to choose again between human and demon, blah blah blah. Ling Ya is like "are you sure?? you're leaving your friends behind" and Lang's like "do it" and then they do, RIP Jia Li.
Xing Hai gives Lang a token from her corpse and tells him that he's won her respect.
Lang: "your approval fills me with shame."
Azibelpher: "are ya winning, son?"
Tian Ming and Chao Feng both hear Lang's screaming as he powers-up yet again and perk up, haahahahaha
so Tian Ming and Chao Feng are going to have to work together to survive (or at least Chao Feng is going to have to pay lip service to the concept)... oh, this is gonna be good
in the wasteland of spirits, Shang, Dan Fei and Juan Can Yun are in a sandstorm and the kids are tired and Shang's like, "no, come on, we gotta keep going"
anyway, let us just appreciate the irony of ling ya saying they'd leave shang and tian ming behind only for the latter to turn up, and it's only a matter of time before Shang joins them.
next episode: demon court intrigue!!! new characters!! YESSS!!!
if it seems like I'm not saying very much, it's because words cannot properly convey the experience; some things you just have to observe for yourself
strong contender for the most enjoyable media experience I've had all year... at least until the next episode.

Title: #TheJourneyOfChongZi #重紫
Main Cast: #YangChaoYue #JeremyTsui
Episodes: 40 + epilogue
Platform: #viki #Tencent
For me this drama, like the name implies, is all about Chong Zi and her relationship with Yin Fan. I looooooooved Yang Chao Yue! I've seen tons of complaints about her character and I have absolutely no idea why, she is so cute and adorable. Her character especially at the beginning is a Sa Jiao character and I especially love that type of character if done right which I think Yang Chao Yue did an excellent job with. The story reminds me of Love and Redemption a bit where it's light and fun at first and then they just pile on the pain through misunderstanding after misunderstanding which is kind of annoying plus they introduce the amnesia trope in later episodes which I hate. Speaking of similarities to Love and Redemption, Yang Chao Yue did Sa Jiao way better than the FL in Love and Redemption who I thought was super annoying.
The story wasn't too bad but after the soul binding string in the last few episodes it got a little weird but with the epilogue, which is basically the ending, it ended up being quite nice. There were three characters I hated, Min Yun Zhong was terrible, he was sneaky and wanted to kill Chong Zi the entire drama. The other two were MiaoYuan who was so jealous and privileged she was evil, and Ting Xue who was a terrible person, both hated Chong Zi for no reason except jealousy and did terrible things to her. Fortunately those two got what they deserved but Yun Zhong definitely needed a greater punishment.
The love story was strong and Jeremy acts with his face which you rarely see, you could see all of his emotions through his facial expressions alone. When the two do finally sort of figure it out it's pretty cute but unfortunately everything is against them so they also feel a lot of pain. I loved the ending epilogue which really is just the ending because it starts exactly where episode 40 leaves off so don't think 40 is the end. Episode 41 is on Viki.
I would definitely recommend especially if you like well done Sa Jiao characters, but remember there is a lot of pain and sadness in this one as well, the ice prison scenes are pretty much unbearable.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On 8/17/2021, Zhang Qiling has now returned to Wu Xie and Pang Zi for 6 years.
Because I can’t visit Chang Bai Shan or Hang Zhou or Xi Zang or anywhere tbh 😭 for my first ever 817, I’m visiting Tumblr instead to post my rare thoughts. I wanted to dedicate my 817 post to these pictures from Episode 16 of Ultimate Note.
Let me explain why *hem hem*. The first two pictures are when Zhang Qiling exited the yun yu in Xi Wang Mu's cave palace and lost his memory. Clearly, he's in a disastrous physical state or else someone as fit and martially skilled as him would never lay in such a vulnerable position or have to be carried.
In the third picture in the desert though, he's walking by himself. We know Wu Xie and Pang Zi would have carried him without any hesitation (I mean even Hei Yanjing and Xiao Hua carried (dragged) Tuoba out of the desert), so Xiao Ge must have been determined to walk by himself.
And we also know from the last two pictures that he wasn't walking because he was fully recovered. The moment they exit the desert and reach safety, Xiao Ge is in a feverish coma state again and stays that way until after spending many days in the hospital. So he really was walking by himself in the desert not because he felt that much physically better but because he didn't want to "burden" Wu Xie or Pang Zi and have them spend their energy on carrying him.
These scenes may just be a few minutes in a 36 episode long tv series or 10+ year fandom or thousands years long story, but they embody why Dao Mu Bi Ji and Tie San Jiao enchant me so much. I’ll never encounter zombies or raid a tomb or fight a powerful secret organization, but it’s so believable to me that the characters of dmbj exist somewhere. Somewhere there’s a Wu Xie stringing together the coin bracelet of a woman who wanted to kill him or setting out to rescue an uncle who has lied to him in every imaginable way. Somewhere there’s a Pang Zi holding the lifeless body of his beloved in his lap or making a nametag so his good bro can find his way home. Somewhere there’s a Zhang Qiling who’s willingly harsh to himself if it means his friends’ lives are a little easier.
Through the eyes of the live comment generator that is Wu Xie, I’ve been immersed into the spectacular world Nanpai Sanshu has created. Reading for pure fun is not something I do often, but the dmbj series made me want to read every single word with all my heart - if not for the plot, then just to make sure Wu Xie still has a tian zhen (innocent and naive) side, that Pang Zi is still lively at times, that Zhang Qiling returns from the too cold Chang Bai Shan, and to follow everyone else to the end of their written stories.
Ending with this line that perfectly describes the magical connection between a book and its readers: 两方世界山河共,一纸内外烟火同.

Dynasty Warriors 7 Characters only unlocked in conquest mode
Conquest mode kinda replaced free mode yet kinda didn't. It had you go through all sorts of little battles throughout the land to fill in all the hexogons to gold. You had a bunch of towns you can go into and increase bonds with other playable officers. Now you should at least get all of story mode out of the way so you can unlock most of the characters you can choose from at the beginning. If you start out conquest mode like when you start the game first, you might have a very small roster to choose from. The starting roster from when you boot up the game for the first time is the following:
Xiahou Dun
Cao Cao
Sun Shang Xiang
Sun Jian
Liu Bei
Bao Sanniang
Sima Yi
Sima Zhao
Zhurong
It's not very big so go through story mode to collect some officers to play as.
Clearing the story of Wei unlocks: Xiahou Yuan, Dian Wei, Xu Zhu, Cao Pi, Zhang He, Zhang Liao and Jia Xu
Clearing the story of Wu unlocks: Zhou Yu, Lu Xun, Gan Ning, Lu Meng, Huang Gai, Ling Tong, Sun Ce, and Sun Quan
Clearing the story of Shu unlocks: Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei, Zhuge Liang, Pang Tong, Huang Zhong, Guan Suo, and Jiang Wei
Clearing the story of Jin unlocks: Sima Shi, Zhuge Dan, Wang Yuanji, Zhong Hui, Deng Ai, and Guo Huai
Any of the other faction characters, apart from Zhurong of course, will have to be unlocked in Conquest mode.
So now that we have taken care of unlocks from story, now we have the conquest unlocked only characters. Everyone can play in conquest mode but not story mode (the xtreme legends expansion added the feature you can play any story mode stage with any character). So who do you have left to get? Here's the following:
Cai Wenji
Cao Ren
Xu Huang
Zhenji
Daqiao
Xiaoqiao
Zhou Tai
Taishi Ci
Deng Feng
Lianshi
Guan Ping
Ma Chao
Ma Dai
Wei Yan
Xingcai
Yueying
Xiahou Ba
Diaochan
Lu Bu
Yuan Shao
Dong Zhuo
Zhang Jiao
Meng Huo

Lily liveblogs: Thunderbolt Fantasy 4x05
"Have fun storming the castle!"
picking up from where we left off last week with the road trip through the Wasteland of Spirits and Juan Can Yun and Dan Fei asking "Are we there yet?"
Shang: Don't make me turn this expedition around!
they want to stop and rest in a crevasse and Shang thinks this is a bad idea but they do it anyway
they are attacked by evil vines and NOPE it back out into the sandstorm, lololol
Wasteland of Spirits is Tatooine from Star Wars, confirmed
I don't know why Shang thought he could just let these kids go off by themselves, thank goodness he got smacked by plot or else they'd be toast.
meanwhile, in the demon realm, Chao Feng's sole surviving officer freaks out and runs off... straight into a han jiao's mouth and is devoured on camera with lots of blood and gore. OM NOM NOM.
Chao Feng also freaks the fuck out, but is saved by Mu Tian Ming. When Chao Feng asks why, she's like, "I dunno, seemed like a good idea at the time". beautiful cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure.
Instead of thanking her, Chao Feng yells at Tian Ming for taking Lang away and says it's all her fault; Tian Ming does not slap her across the face, but says that that might be true if Lang came here by chance, but she thinks he has a purpose. AND SHE'S RIGHT.
I hope Chao Feng has a redemption arc, but I fear for the worst for Lang and Tian Ming and everybody else as soon as she finds herself on more solid ground. (you just know Azibelpher will LOVE her scheming little mind)
The Order of the Divine Swarm arrives at Azibelpher's castle and Ba Wang Yu decides to storm the gates while Hua Wu Zong turns invisible and slips inside in the chaos. Lin, disguised as Piao Miao, opts to wait outside and watch.
this pays off when Xing Hai shows up with Lang and he immediately switches back to his normal form to surprise them.
Lin immediately picks up that Lang is part demon (the horn kinda gave it away, lol) and turns him temporarily invisible so he can sneak into the castle. He then turns his attention to charming exposition out of Xing Hai and plays her like a damn fiddle.
elsewhere, Ansaato is skittering around the Demon Court on his little insect legs (complete with sound effects) and is pissed that Azibelpher is early for their meeting (and apparently in the flesh???)
the other nobles show up, including Parasol Lady my beloved, but unfortunately, we don't get a good sense of their personalities in their brief back and forth. Other demons include: Covid Safety Protocols (wears a mask); Megamind (turban, big head); and Blue Enforcer of the Status Quo. I thought Megamind was going to be an evil advisor based on his character design, but he's just a guy, I guess??? At least there's nothing much to distinguish him here.
the demon king is a shadowy figure hidden behind a screen and HMMM THAT SEEMS FAMILIAR WHERE HAVE I SEEN THAT ONE BEFORE, but he's got a new VA, so he's probably not somebody we already know. Probably.
(can you tell I'm still scarred from last season's reveal, lol)
turns out that the statue macguffins are seals that allow you to summon demon gods if you get a quorum (4). There are 8 total, one for each demon noble and the king.
everybody is freaked out that Jia Li is dead and her seal is missing. Azi plays innocent, lol.
Lin finds all this out from Xing Hai, so he'll probably start collecting them now because thieves gonna thieve. Lang is also collecting them, but he's the only one at this point who doesn't know what they do, and this is probably all part of Azi's plan to awaken the demon gods and start the War of the Fading Dusk in earnest.
[look, if you put a sleeping demon god in the first episode, it had damn well better wake up by the last episode, I'm just saying].
also Lin has decided to torment Xing Hai by speculating he might be a demon, too because he's not affected by the demon realm the way a normal human should be.
he's trolling, obviously, but it's funny because he uses the same phrase Shang does: "no matter what anyone chooses to call me, it doesn't matter because I know who I am"
I've said this before and I'll say it again: Shang and Lin are opposites, complements, parallels, and foils, and also archetypal, and this extends to their backstories as well, which means it's unlikely that we'll see parents for either of them.
Xing Hai is objectively speaking a terrible person but I feel so bad for her because her shitty kind-of ex being a demon would solve a lot of problems for her because demons are supposed to be shitty to each other. So she's actually really into this, and while nothing Lin says is an outright lie, it certainly isn't the full truth.
{Xing Hai being in love with Lin is mostly subtext in the show itself, but it's in the light novel, and also there is a delightful series of social media posts where she fantasizes about what to do with him when he's theoretically under Seven Blasphemous Death's control and one of them is marrying him in a Western-style wedding with Azibelpher as the minister. And even then they're STILL not the most toxic het couple in the show by a wide margin!!!!}
meanwhile, Ba Wang Yu murders everybody and walks into the castle and Lin tells Xing Hai that Azibelpher isn't there because otherwise some would have stayed back to defend their master.
[this is why Azi was at the meeting early, lol]
Cut to Lang Wu Yao wandering around the empty castle, only for Spider to sneak up on him with chains, believing him to be Azibelpher.
.... you know what, he's not exactly wrong, Lang really does resemble his dad and the portraits are everywhere because Azibelpher lives in a gothic castle and has decorated accordingly
I really hope Wasp and Spider team up with Lang since they all hate Azibelpher, because the alternative is that Lang kills both of them next episode and I want to keep them around for as long as possible.
this episode is so fucking funny and I laughed so hard, twenty minutes just FLEW by, can't wait for next week

@kingsandbastardz
(I need to ease my mind since I have a difficult exam tomorrow, wish me luck plz:"))
Warning: This post is solely my opinion. Should you not like something in it, simply stop reading. Thanks. Moreover, these ideas are to be used in my own storywriting so give credits in case you're gonna use it. More thanks.
Yun Biqiu and Jiao Liqiao: When a Girlboss Wounds A Man's Pride
One of the downsides of MLC (and apparently every cdrama) is underdeveloped (i. e. cardboard) side characters who play an important part in contributing to the main storyline but their motives remain unsaid and their history unknown.
Here I'm going to attempt exploring just how Yun Biqiu could undermine Jiao Liqiao, with all her bossiness and domineering aura.
Forgive my English in advance. I'm writing this post on the go so it's obviously not beta-read.
Thanks:) Now, on with the analysis:)
(Sorry for the promotion but) In my fic (link in my pinned post), Di Feisheng tells a poisoned Biqiu, "She likes to think she's smart, so you gave her that. I shall applaud you for it."
And I put that there on purpose 😁 since I had the following ideas to go on with this:
I think Yun Biqiu tried to decipher Jiao Liqiao's personality and use her blindspots to his own advantage. Jiao Liqiao is the typical girlboss who's completely lost it and thinks she knows men enough to dominate every one of them. In my opinion, she has too much trust in her seduction abilities (remember when Di Feisheng tossed her in a dungeon full of crazy beings and her face is kinda destroyed, she held lots of grudge against him) and this possibly contributed to her being blind to what men would actually do around her. It's actually pretty easy for a smart man whose pride is more or less wounded by her, to undermine her using the faults of her personality.
I think she was infatuated with Biqiu to some degree: He's (or at least used to be) the handsome sage after all and is a millitary strategist, therefore he has something that a smart girl would look out for no matter how much of a girlboss she is. I say this since Jiao Liqiao is so determined into making Di Feisheng the best martial artist existing and then marrying him, to the point that she seduced Yun Biqiu to stop his defeat. So she cares too much about what sort of men she thinks deserve to be by her side and actually falls for a man's image and not true self, which makes her the most typical woman despite her being a girlboss and everything. Thus she subconsciously looks out for a combination of position, looks, and mental prowess of a man. Di Feisheng is more a martial artist, doesn't care that much about wisdom (in comparison to someone like Biqiu) and isn't known for being too handsome (I haven't read the novel but according to @mademoiselle-red, Li Xiangyi, handsome himself, calls Biqiu beautiful in practically every step he takes within the Sigu sect. That's definitely something to me). This makes me think that Jiao Liqiao sees men too incomplete to fulfill her desires and wants a man too perfect that goes beyond the limitations of this world. She wants the impossible, which cannot be achieved.
She expresses a liking for Biqiu (gentle temperament, mental prowess, great looks). She teases Li Xiangyi (mental sharpness, unparalleled martial arts even when he hits the bottom, good looks to some degree, sweet tongue) to marry him. Di Feisheng (Power, strength, handsomeness, leadership abilities) is her obsession. These three men complete the imagery she has in her mind of a man. They are the puzzle pieces that she seeks to put together in order to fulfill her desires.
I am still puzzled about why exactly Biqiu fell for Jiao Liqiao. When they reunite after ten years, he tells her that "Everyone in the Jianghu admires you and I am no exception." Jiao Liqiao is a seductress but she's also powerful which shows her inner capabilities. This tells me that Yun Biqiu, although having a good sense of aesthetics, likes women who are at least mentally his equal. Jiao Liqiao fits his tastes accurately. But he's scared of looking at her. Do his desires scare him that much? I don't think so. I think Jiao Liqiao knows something about him that no one, even his comrades at Sigu sect, know to full extents. I think he's more afraid that she plays some old card against him and defame him. What are those cards? I have left it to explore in my fic *winks*.
Yun Biqiu is a renowned sage. He's good at creating strategies and designing defense mechanisms (in other words, he's a millitary strategist and mechanical engineer). He's in a sense the most reliable member of Fubi Baishi since he is the one gone idiot with reading and uses his brain the most. It's safe to assume that he prides himself on these despite Li Xiangyi making him swear not to push his disciples towards his own path. He has a gentle temperament and reserved personality. But Jiao Liqiao abuses all of these and ruins all he prides himself on. He is no longer the most reliable. Everyone looks down on him and disrespects him during any heated or sensitive discussion. He's forced to live in seclusion lest the full extent of his sins comes to light. He loses almost everyone whom he loves or admires. All for a woman who lied to her. This is typically too much for a man.
Why do I think it exists? Because even with all the mankind's modern abilities in forensics and discovering evidence, it's a hell of work to prove someone was "seduced" or "bewitched" by someone. We have little to no magic at work across the Jianghu and the detectives of Baichuan Court use hard evidence and deductions (much like us) to solve their cases. So there must be some hard evidence of her manipulation (e. g. a letter of blackmail).
He sits down and reviews what he knows of Jiao Liqiao and Di Feisheng. Yeah she must be helping him again. But wait, he has already deduced that people are merely tools in her eyes; the steps of a ladder she climbs towards utmost power. What if Di Feisheng is also a tool? He should look into this matter more. He later learns that Di Feisheng tags along Li Lianhua with zero complaints. He smells hella rats. Something isn't right here. If everything was the result of simple matters then why has it all resurfaced after ten years? Is Di Feisheng exactly the cold hearted assassin they all think him to be? If he is, why is he tagging along Fang Duobing and Li Lianhua? Why isn't Fang Duobing on bad terms with him? (he wasn't that surprised when all the Baichuan people thought Li Lianhua is in cahoots with Di Feisheng, so he must know him).
He still has some light within himself. He has torn his mind apart these past ten years. He must know where were his weak spots. He thinks he caused too many deaths and has little to live for. Moreover, that supposed card Jiao Liqiao is playing against him will definitely come to light someday and he cannot look into his brothers' faces. So, he makes up his mind about his legacy in this world.
Biqiu is good at spotting the details of mechanical defenses, he is an avid reader and since he's inspired by Confucian philosophy, and Sun Tzu emerged a couple of centuries after Confucius, I can assume he's also well versed in Sun Tzu's strategies. He uses all his knowledge and to his own spite, his good looks, and appears defeated at the feet of Jiao Liqiao. I can imagine that, in order to make sure that she thinks she has the upper hand, he taught her some mechanical engineering but with a lot of holes in it, and he did these during the times he tried to lower her guard by playing infatuated. She would think she has all his mind to herself while he is silently sharpening his sword behind her back, to strike at the right moment. No one else finds out about this since Jiao Liqiao cannot handle having too many men outsmarting him around her and therefore she has chosen her gang members solely based on martial prowess and loyalty.
When she asks for extremely powerful mechanisms, he puts two and two together and realizes that those sorts of traps is meant for powerful martial artists like Di Feisheng. It is safe to assume it is confirmed for him that Jiao Liqiao is the real culprit and Di Feisheng is a tool in her hands. He creates them, takes her to see them, and she is high up in the skies for seeing through these mechanisms this obviously. Biqiu cannot believe she has fallen for his psychological trap. He plays along and praises her for seeing what others won't see, but alas, what he made is for everyone to see.
He doesn't need to dirty his hands to get rid of Jiao Liqiao. This is not considered a victory for a man. What makes him more satisfied is sitting back and watch how she falls due to her own blindness. He knows that Di Feisheng tags along Li Lianhua (and he knows LLH's true identity). Another two and two: Jiao Liqiao wants mechanisms to keep someone like Di Feisheng down. Di Feisheng tags along Li Xiangyi and doesn't kill him despite knowing him (when JLQ knows, he must know, too). So he deduces that there's something more to Di Feisheng that Li Xiangyi knows and he doesn't. He decides to trust that and not to eliminate DFS and let him deal with JLQ. He thinks that, it's a safe bet to make since DFS cares way more about power and doesn't go easy over someone trying to bring him down. He hopes that when Jiao Liqiao's true motives are exposed, he's going to clean the world of her mess. Or in another way, he thinks it's enough to clean the world of his mess, and leave the rest to others.
He thinks he's done enough and stands trial willingly to die. But he forgets that his light will finally find a way out to show itself to the world.
JLQ was supposedly hoping against having to attic wife DFS but she fully had Biqiu prepare an iron shielded room just to cage DFS in. (And who knows what else was in that room?) It takes time to design, plan, source and build something like that. Like... months in advance. It had like... spring loaded and extremely THICK chains meant to capture strong ppl with. So he even planned for someone with actual power levels trying to escape or fight. There were arrays and traps surrounding the entire building, both facing outward for attackers and facing the building for escapees. Which means they were prepared for possible rescuers.
Yun Biqiu designed and built that for her. I honestly wonder what he was thinking or how he managed his character portrayal in front of her. Where he's supposed to be enthralled by her and yet he's building a cage for her obsession. Did he have to fake jealousy and reconciliation to be believable?
We can hear DFS pounding on the walls from within when he gets trapped in there. (And how specific a placement it is to be on top of the wedding/bedroom chambers?) Did Biqiu deliberately mess up the creation of that room like he did with the traps outside? Or does he actually hold any residual feelings for JLQ? Or does he see an opportunity to act out his resentment for being in this situation to begin with?
How easy would it be for this one location to be the one spot that's a true trap? Did he ever think even for a moment that he can rig it so when JLQ enters, the room locks down and entombs her?
DFS, who literally everyone saw is now powerless, would be a dead man anyway. He's just another villian to be taken down as collateral damage. Depending on the situation, Biqiu feasibly could walk away without anyone ever knowing there is anyone up there.

DW Potential Additions Tier List
So I made some spreadsheets but decided I was putting in too much work so here’s a quick summary.
I was grading on a scale of 1-5. 1 was characters I really don’t htink would add anything good, but who I thought some might suggest (like Cao Zhi, Jia Nanfeng, Pan Zhang, Zhao Guang, Zhang Ren, etc.) 2 is people who could maybe work under very specific circumstances, like a big narrative shift or a lot of related characters being added, or who might be fine but aren’t nearly as good as some other options (like Cheng Yu, Cao Xi, Wu Jing, Mi Zhu, or Gao Gan). These don’t really make the cut for discussion, so if you don’t see a name you’re expecting, I probably put them in one of those tiers for some reason.
Tier 3 are characters who would be fine. Just fine. They either did enough to make themselves noteworthy, or have enough of a connecting to existing narrative and cast that they’d probably add something worthwhile. Not the ones I’d be most excited about, but the ones I couldn’t make too many complaints over.
Tier 4 are great adds. Characters I really want to see, who could really expand the cast in worthwhile ways.
Tier 5 are characters I forget aren’t in these games already because why are they not here?
I’m not going to explain every decision here because I’m sure there will be followup questions. Yes, I’m aware that Jin is overrepresented, because it’s the smallest of the main factions.

Note
I just found your older post of Priest's danmei's! I just finished SPL and was looking into what else to read from her. Could you point out which of Priest's works besides SPL have a gong MC? Apparently the cheat is that whoever falls in love first is the gong (lol) but I'm not sure which novels of those r included. Thanks!
Most priest novels are actuall tagged as 主受(POV of the shou/shou MC)...so actually in SPL, it’s Gu Yun who’s technically the MC. But at this point, many priest readers have given up on identifying who’s MC and ML since more often than not, both characters get to have equal amounts of POV anyway haha! But for works that /seem to be/ in the POV of the gong...I’d recommend Can Ci Pin and Lie Huo Jiao Chou!

Dynasty Warriors Weapon Moveset Power Rankings Part 4
Here are the weapons I'll be covering in this part, comprising of those belonging to Shu and Other characters who debuted in Dynasty Warriors 2:
Liu Bei (劉備): Twin Swords (双剣)
Ma Chao (馬超): Spear (槍)
Huang Zhong (黄忠): Bow (弓)
Jiang Wei (姜維): Double-edge Trident (両刃槍)
Yuan Shao (袁紹): Extension Blade (伸細剣)
Zhang Jiao (張角): Shaman Rod (錫杖)
Twin Swords (双剣)
EX user: Liu Bei, Lu Xun (7-7E), Cao Pi (7-7E) EX attacks: C4/C5, C3, C1 Category: Blades Technique: Dash
“The use of dual weapons allows for easy combos, while a Switch Attack lets you instantly change weapons.”
6 saw Liu Bei’s signature weapon being changed to the twin swords (as in the history), a weapon that was unique to Lu Xun before then. Although Cao Pi’s weapon was the Dual Blade, this was his signature weapon in 7 even though his weapon could already be split into two.
The attacks of this weapon are based off of Liu Bei’s moveset in 6, so you’re not missing anything. The Dash Attack and C4 are great crowd clearers with their spinning motions. The Jump Attack in 7 is the Jump Charge in 8 and the C6 is a targeted attack that is also unblockable. As stated in the description, the Switch Attack is instantaneous and it also emits a shockwave on execution.
Liu Bei’s moveset in WO3 is the closest to this weapon’s moveset with little to no changes.
Musou Attack 1: Electric Fang (雷牙連弾) A combo attack that hits 10 times (five for each sword) before emitting a blast of lightning. This attack is called in the Japanese script and is used in WO3 and 4. Also used in NEXT as a Multi-Strike Type Musou.
Musou Attack 2: Roaring Thunder (雷牙天鳴) Introduced in 8. An attack that charges the swords with lightning before thrusting forward, dealing damage to enemies in the way.
Aerial Musou Attack: Thunderclap (降雷球) Charges the swords with lightning before throwing it to the ground in the form of a ball.
Tier ranking: B
Spear (槍)
EX user: Ma Chao, Jiang Wei (7-7E), Zhao Yun (7), Generic EX attacks: C3/C6, C3, C3, C3 Category: Spears Technique: Whirlwind
“Change the 4th and 6th Strong Attacks by holding down the button.”
Another good old weapon, the spear. The spear was Ma Chao’s main tool of dealing justice, except in 6 Special when it was changed to the broadsword for some reason (I’m not calling it the great sword in order to differentiate it from Guan Ping’s weapon). The spear is also Zhao Yun’s signature weapon, but it was split off into the Dragon Spear, which in earlier games was also known as the straight spear. Generic officers also use the spear as well.
As the description states, the main gimmick of this weapon is the ability to change the C4 and C6 by holding down the button. What isn’t mentioned, however, is that the gimmick also works on the C1 as well; the motion is the same but an element is added to the attack for increased power. In 7, the gimmick is less pronounced as the C4 changes from a narrow energy wave to a wide energy wave and the C6 changes from a swing to the left to a swing to the right with a larger shockwave. In 8, the gimmick is more pronounced; the C4 adds a spin to the wide energy wave while the C6 changes from the swing to the right to a thrust and a slash, taken from Jiang Wei’s moveset in WO3. The C2 and the Switch Attack are targeted attacks and they can be annoying if you get caught in them, particularly as they are respectively Zhao Yun’s grappling attack and deadlock attack in 6. I should note that this moveset is a modified version of Zhao Yun’s moveset in 6 as well.
There’s something weird with the C3 between 7 and 8. In 7, the C3 supports additional input to increase the number of attacks from four to six. In 8, the additional input has a timing gimmick and according to people on the Japanese wiki, you have to press the button right on the third attack to get it right, so the timing is very tight there. In 8E, the gimmick seems to be removed altogether. Why put all these stupid restrictions on something so miniscule when button mashers might as well be triggering the additional inputs anyway? This wouldn’t be so much of a problem if the C3 was part of the C4/C6 gimmick. Timing gimmicks can also be found on a couple of other weapons, but I’ll talk about them when I get to them.
Of course, the EX attacks naturally flow from their respective Charge Attacks. Zhao Yun’s EX is unavailable for edit characters in Empires and the generic officer EX and Musou are just stronger versions of the C3. Of course, the problem with all of the EX attacks being spun off from the C3 is that in my hypothetical EX mix-and-match feature, you can only really match them with Ma Chao’s EX2, but don’t worry, that feature would allow you to only have one EX attack if you want to (or even two Musous if you’re going for that 7 feeling).
Both Ma Chao and Jiang Wei’s movesets in WO3 have variations in certain Charge Attacks.
Ma Chao’s Musou Attacks are called in the Japanese script.
Musou Attack 1: Thunderslice (轟雷斬) Feel the thunder with this thrust. The Type Action in WO3 takes a cue from this Musou.
Musou Attack 2: Spiral Pierce (無影螺旋脚) A targeted attack that takes an enemy and summons doubles to jump through them from four directions while also damaging enemies around them. Also known as the “Impolite Reception” (無礼な接客). Used in WO3 and 4. Also used in NEXT as a Throw Type Musou. The English line for this attack is just a grunt.
Aerial Musou Attack: Heaven’s Spear (轟天槍) Introduced in 8, this attack twirls the spear to create a tornado. Take note that you cannot turn around during this attack and that it may not be that effective depending on which direction you are in and how many enemies are below and in front of you.
Generic Officer Musou Attack: Blind Rage (百穴) As stated, just a stronger version of the C3 and generic EX with a thrust at the end.
Tier ranking: A
Bow (弓)
EX user: Huang Zhong, Xiahou Yuan (7-7E) EX attacks: C5/C2, C1 Category: Projectiles Technique: Dash
“Attack enemies from outside their range. The Switch Attack can freeze the enemy with an Ice elemental.”
Ah, the bow, the weapon of choice for people who claim they’re skilled archers but have something else as their signature weapon (no, that bow function pre-6 doesn’t count). No, but seriously, 7 and 8 gives more emphasis on the bow by giving it a separate moveset altogether, independent of other weapons. In 8, soldiers can also be seen using this before switching to swords. This moveset was used by Sun Shangxiang in 6 and is based off of her moveset.
This weapon is perfect for wide attacks at a long range, especially the EX attacks as they can knock enemies into the air. The C6 also supports additional input to fire an extra rain of arrows around the character after hitting enemies hit by the N5.
Huang Zhong’s moveset in WO3 is the closest to this weapon’s moveset with little to no changes.
Musou Attack 1: Ultra Volley (超級全壊射) A targeted attack that knocks enemies into the air and then shoots a final shot to knock even more enemies into the air. Used in WO3. Also used in NEXT as a Throw Type Musou.
Musou Attack 2: Unlimited Volley (無量超連射) Introduced in 8. Shoots a single-file barrage of arrows before a final shot. Used in WO4, which seems a bit meh.
Aerial Musou Attack: Arrow Rain (天空百連射) Shoots a rain of arrows from above.
Tier ranking: B
Double-edge Trident (両刃槍)
EX user: Jiang Wei (8-8E) EX attacks: C3/C1 Category: Spears Technique: Shadow Sprint
“Capable of multiple Strong Attacks that can combine with aerial attacks.”
Having used an ordinary trident in previous games, the double-edge trident was introduced in Multi Raid 2 as Jiang Wei’s new signature weapon after being cut from 6 and was introduced again in 8 as a declone of the spear moveset. The Shadow Sprint technique seems kind of useless given how the C2, C4 and C5 send you into the air, but you can perform aerial combos with the multi-tiered Jump Attack and Jump Charge before following up with a Shadow Sprint. The Shadow Sprint also doesn’t work after the EX2. The C2 is also capable of additional input.
The EX1 is called in the Japanese script (雷鳴斬, Thunder Slash).
Musou Attack 1: Thunder Charge (九天雷鳴斬) As the name implies, it is a stronger version of the EX1 that is also a targeted attack. In 7, the character cannot move while executing this attack, but this improvement was added in 8. This attack is called in the Japanese script and is used in WO3. Also used in NEXT as a Throw Type Musou.
Musou Attack 2: Ringed Lightning (三鳴雷光陣) Introduced in 8. Stands on the spot while the character draws a triangular prism out of lightning. This attack is called in the Japanese script and is used in WO4.
Aerial Musou Attack: Thunder Dragon (雷龍波) Throws the spear into the ground and uses it as a lightning rod in a manner akin to Zhao Yun’s Aerial Musou. The Aerial Type Action in WO3U takes a cue from this Musou.
Tier ranking: C
Bomb (爆弾)
EX user: DLC (7-7XL), Dong Zhuo (NEXT-8E) EX attacks: C1/C3 Category: Special Technique: Whirlwind
“Can set bombs with a Strong Attack and then detonate them with Strong Attack 1.”
Ah bombs, because nothing says evil and homicidal like bombs. Introduced as a DLC weapon in 7, the bombs became Dong Zhuo’s new signature weapon possibly because of his Musou Attacks, I think.
Criticisms aside, the bombs are a pretty good weapon, honestly. The gimmick is obvious from the description, though one wonders why this weapon is categorised under Special and not Projectiles. It’s great for attacks at all ranges. Aside from the C1, the set bombs can also be detonated with the EX2 or the C6. Although the C6 is a targeted attack, the bombs will detonate whether it connects or not. If the bombs are not detonated, they will detonate themselves after ten seconds and they will not disappear if a Switch Attack is executed. The Jump Attack throws two bombs to the ground but they don’t explode, whereas they do in the Jump Charge, making it a stronger version of the Jump Attack.
The EX1 is a targeted attack as well, but do note – when Dong Zhuo’s weapon was changed in NEXT and WO3, his old and slow-executing EX Attack from the flail moveset (also spun off from C1) was used; it wouldn’t be until 7E that it was changed to a more quick-executing attack that could also emit an explosion even if it doesn’t connect to an enemy.
Personally, I think the bombs really should belong to Huang Gai, given how his C1 pre-6 was him throwing a bomb. Frankly, that’s more memorable to me than his rod and shield. Hell, even the DLC promo for it had Huang Gai using the bombs before they released another promo with him using the arm blade. Pick one.
Musou Attack 1: Mad Bomber (大爆殺) Throws bombs in front of the character, who can be rotated for all-round coverage. Although this attack uses the weapon, it technically isn’t used in 7 (DLCs aside), but this attack can be used by any character without continuity issues as the character can be seen bringing out the bombs rather than already having them in their hands. Used in WO3 and 4. Also used in NEXT as a Multi-Strike Type Musou.
Musou Attack 2: Sheer Destruction (尾壊破殺) Introduced in 8, this Musou Attack is a targeted attack that takes an enemy and smashes their ass on the character’s knee before wriggling his hands like an Italian. I call this attack the “Mario Mussolini”. If the attack misses, the character petulantly stomps three times, creating shockwaves around them.
Aerial Musou Attack: Black Hole (壊滅暗黒球) Throws a large fireball into enemies on the ground. Take note of the range as enemies directly below the character may not be affected by the attack. Also note that the fireball won’t explode if it goes into a wall. The weapon is not used in this attack, allowing it to be used by any character without continuity issues.
Tier ranking: B
Extension Blade (伸細剣)
EX user: Yuan Shao (8-8E) EX attacks: C4/C1 Category: Blades Technique: Dash
“Able to switch weapons even when enemies are attacking you.”
If you haven’t known by now, there are good declone weapons and bad declone weapons, and this weapon appears to be one of the latter. Being a declone of the rapier moveset, the extension blade is Yuan Shao’s signature weapon in 8 and given his role in the entirety of the story, it’s like they made this weapon to be forgettable on purpose. When I thought of “extension blade” I thought it was going to be like Kai’s chain-whip sword from Samurai Warriors, but nope, it just extends and retracts, which would still have been good if the extension was shown more prominently, but given the action-styled pacing of Dynasty Warriors, you don’t notice the gimmick all that much.
Aesthetics aside, the moveset feels a bit jerky and incohesive, plus it’s also slow and narrow in range. It’s like Koei Tecmo didn’t put enough effort into decloning weapons when they got to this weapon. The C3 supports additional input and the C6 is a semi-targeted attack that either creates a small shockwave or a medium shockwave. The EX2 can be strengthened by holding down the button. This weapon mostly focuses on frontal strikes, so you might need to be aware of attacks from behind or beside you. If this weapon were a Whirlwind weapon, some of those weaknesses may be covered, but this weapon isn’t large or heavy enough to even create air resistance.
This weapon might be alright in general, but it’s honestly not that memorable. Frankly, the only thing memorable about this weapon would be how shitty it is to use. Yuan Shao’s moveset in 5 was better than this.
Musou Attack 1: Slash of Glory (栄光閃) Probably the only decent Musou Attack that Yuan Shao has, as the character spins around before stabbing the ground to blow enemies back. Used in WO3. Also used in NEXT as a Blast Type Musou.
Musou Attack 2: Royal Pose (常勝演舞) Does a pose to recover health and stun enemies around you. Used in WO4, which makes him even more useless in terms of moveset.
Aerial Musou Attack: Immortal Prestige (不壊栄冠) Introduced in 8. Just dives into the ground and does a thrust. It might as well be a glorified Jump Charge given the rest of this weapon’s moveset.
Tier ranking: E
Shaman Rod (錫杖)
EX user: Zhang Jiao, Pang Tong (7-7E) EX attacks: C1/C5, C5 Category: Special Technique: Dash
“The Switch Attack effects are time-delayed.”
Zhang Jiao’s Shaman Rod has gone through quite a lot of changes over the years, whether it be the weapon design or the moveset, but it is by no means lacking. The attacks are explosive and fire-based, though the N6 attack summons thunder. The C3 supports additional input for an extra explosion. The C4 with the shooting fire bullets appears to have a slight tracking ability that can also attack enemies behind the character, however the bullets will not appear if there is no enemy to hit. The C5 and C6 are swapped in 8, with the overhead fiery shockwave being the new C5 and the path of explosions being the new C6; even though Pang Tong’s old EX Attack continues to be spun off from the C5, it still flows on quite smoothly.
Zhang Jiao’s EX1 appears to add explosions to Normal Attacks and also imbue them with fire in 7; the latter aspect seems to be toned down or removed in 8, though the illusion of it is still there. It is also known as “Miracle of Man/the People” (人の奇跡よ!). The EX2 also adds another fiery shockwave to the C5 that also freezes enemies in the air, which is quite amazing. For some reason, swapping the C5 and C6 in 8 makes the EX2 easier to use than it would have if the attacks remained in their old positions. I know I said that I wouldn’t really touch on the Rage Attacks, but according to the Japanese wiki the True Rage Attack appears to resemble Zhang Jiao’s R1 Type Action in Warriors Orochi 3.
Zhang Jiao’s moveset in WO3 is the closest to this weapon’s moveset with little to no changes.
Zhang Jiao’s Musou Attacks are called in the Japanese script, even if they are merely statements. Based on his voice lines, we can presume that they are called in the English script as well, though with one exception.
Musou Attack 1: Miracle of Earth (地の奇跡よ!) Summons a pillar of flame to hit enemies in front of the character. Also known as “Miracle of the Land” in the English script.
Musou Attack 2: Miracle of Heaven (天の奇跡よ!) Summons a giant ball of fire that bursts and rains fireballs around the character. Also known as “Miracle of the Heavens” if you want to get nitpicky with Koei Tecmo’s English naming of the Musou and the line that Zhang Jiao says in the English script. The attack also persists for a few seconds after performing it, so it’s good for building up chains so that you can immediately launch a True Rage Attack. Used in WO3 and 4. Also used in NEXT as a Multi-Strike Type Musou.
Aerial Musou Attack: Miracle of Fire (炎の奇跡よ!) Introduced in 8. Summons several pillars of flame around the player. Also known as “Blades of Judgement” in the English script, which goes against the grain of the EX1 and the other Musou Attacks. This Musou is only really effective when you have lots of enemies around you, otherwise with the decreased damage and the gaps between pillars, it’s just a weaker version of Musou Attack 1.
