Carla & Lu - No body, no crime
A new chapter in The ties were black, the lies were white, my Elite x Taylor Swift series. This one is not like the others so far - no happy ending, not with that song (IYKYK). It's violent in places and just... sad. Can be read as a mirror piece to Midnights in October.
"What did you do to her?" Carla's voice was loud enough to make a few people look their way, even with the noise level in the bar.
Guzman laughed, probably to show everyone around them how absurd the question was, but it wasn't real. Carla could tell. His hand landed on her forearm, and he wouldn't let her pull away.
"Not you, too," he said loudly, shaking his head like he was disappointed in her.
The pressure on her arm suggested a different emotion, though, and Carla saw it in his eyes, too. He was angry. Furious that she'd dared to call him out in public.
"I want to get Lu back just as much as everyone else." The patrons next to them were still looking, enjoying the free show, and after a second of silence, Guzman cleared his throat. "More, of course. Because she is my wife and I- and I love her."
His voice gave out, and he let go of her arm to wipe his eyes. The bartender pushed another whiskey toward him, "on the house," looking like she might burst into tears of sympathy any second.
Guzman threw back the drink, then got up to leave, a little unsteady on his feet. When he was just past her, he froze for a second. After he had seemingly made up his mind, he turned back around and leaned in so close that Carla could smell the alcohol on his breath. For a second, his cold eyes locked onto hers. Then he whispered in her ear.
"You'll never find her. Never." The words wrapped around her throat and cut off her air. "And you know what they say: No body, no-"
The slap made her hand ache, but it was worth it. For a second, Guzman stared at her, surprised. Then he remembered where they were, got his face under control and was the disappointed, dejected husband again.
"I'm sorry you feel that way," he said before walking out the door.
Carla had to hold on to the bar to not slide off her chair.
(@snappy-bambi, you probably thought i would never get this done, considering how long i've been going on about it, lol. but i did ittt)

Summary: You are Ander's twin sister and have recently started dating Valerio. However, Ander doesn't approve of your relationship, and when an incident takes place during a party, he warns Valerio to stay away from you. {Requested}
Word count: 1781
Trigger warning: alcohol and substance abuse, attempted sa, violence, cursing
A/N: I'm noticing a lack of Elite fanfiction here on Tumblr, which I'm not very happy about. Please, feel free to send in requests, my loves.
“Out of all the boys in Las Encinas, you really had to sleep with this degenerate,” your brother’s voice snapped you out of your thoughts. “Excuse me?” you questioned in disbelief. Normally, Ander would keep his opinions to himself- it wasn’t like him to intervene with your personal life- but it wasn’t like you to keep things from him either.
Ander took a deep breath. “When were you going to tell me?” he asked. You frowned, unsure of how you should respond. “Tell you what?” you replied, trying to buy yourself more time to think of an excuse.
Your twin rolled his eyes. “About you and Valerio. I had to find out from Omar, for God’s sake!”
You felt the blood on your face painting your cheeks red. It was obvious you couldn’t hide the truth from your brother any longer. “Look, cariño, I’m sorry,” you said softly. “I didn’t mean to keep it from you. I just didn’t know how to tell you.”
Ander’s expression softened. “Y/N, you’re my twin sister. You know you can always confide in me, right?”
“I know how much you dislike him,” you murmured. Ander picked up on the fact you avoided eye contact, and took a seat next to you on your bed. His wrapped his arm around your shoulder carefully, and pulled you closer to him.
“I don’t dislike Valerio,” he sighed, “I just don’t think he’s good for you.”
Ander had a valid point. Valerio had a reputation for being a troublemaker, and his involvement with drugs and partying was well-known around the school. Despite all that, you couldn’t help the way you felt about him.
“I understand what you’re saying, cariño,” you said, “but I just hope you can accept my choise.”
Ander took a deep breath before responding. “I will always support you, Y/N, no matter what. Just, promise me one thing.”
There was a moment of silence before he continued, during which you felt your heart pounding on your chest. “Promise me you’ll be careful, and that you’ll come to me if you ever need anything.”
You felt a wave of graditute wash over you as you hugged your brother tightly. “Thank you, Ander,” you breathed. “I promise.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you swallowed the sixth vodka shot, you felt like your soul was elevating heavenwards. The sweet taste of gummy bears mixed with alcohol burned your throat and made you feel euphoric- like the world was still there, but for the moment, it didn't have you by the throat.
“You’re breathtaking tonight, Y/N,” Valerio whispered, his lips brushing over your exposed collarbone. You giggled and tittled your head slightly to the side, placing a soft kiss on his neck. “I could say the same thing,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
As the alcohol continued to flow through your veins, you started to feel lightheaded. The room around you spun in dizzying circles, and you struggled to keep your balance. Valerio noticed your unsteady movements and reached out to steady you, his hand gripping your arm tightly.
“Y/N, you okay?” he questioned. Even though you couldn’t hear his voice clearly enough, you could see the concern etching on his face. You tried to nod, but the room spun even faster, and you felt like you might be sick.
“I don’t feel so good,” you mumbled, your words slurring together. Valerio’s grip on your arm tightened, and he led you to a nearby couch, sitting you down carefully.
“Hey, it’s okay,” he reassured you, kissing you softly on the forehead. “I’ll go get you some water.” And with that, he disappeared into the crowd.
A few moments went by, and your dizziness only got worse.
Suddenly, you felt a hand on your thigh, and you looked up to see a stranger leering at you. You tried to push him away, but your limbs felt heavy and uncooperative.
“Come with me, sweetheart,” he slurred, his breath hot and stale against your face. You tried to scream, but no sound came out, and the darkness swallowed you whole.
It didn’t take long for Valerio to return to the crowded living room, clutching a bottle of water in his hand. He searched for you in the sea of faces, and when he realized you were nowhere to be seen, he felt his heart skip a beat. As panic set in, he scanned the room once again. He spotted Samuel and Guzman chatting in a corner, and quickly approached them.
“Guys, have you seen Y/N?” he asked with a slightly shaken voice.
Guzman and Samuel exhanged a puzzled glance. “No, we haven’t seen her. Why?” Samuel replied. Valerio felt his heart sinking to his stomach, and his eyes darted the room for familiar faces one more time. He didn’t bother replying to Samuel before rushing to Lu and Carla.
“Lu, have you seen Y/N? I can’t find her anywhere.”
Lu shook her head. “No, sorry. We've been dancing together for the past hour.”
Valerio’s concern slowly evolved into fear. His mind conjured up horrifying scenarios, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that he had failed to protect you.
“Val, what’s going on?” Lu questioned, visibly concerned.
Valerio took a deep breath, trying to compose himself before explaining the situation. “It’s all my fault,” he murmured, the words weighing heavy on his chest.
“What’s going on?” asked Guzman, arriving at the scene along with Samuel, drawn in by the commotion.
“We can’t find Y/N,” Carla spoke up. The sense of urgency in her voice was palpable.
Guzman’s expression remained stoic as he tried to assess the situation. “Have you tried calling her?” he asked Valerio.
“I did just now. It’s going straight to voicemail,” Lu interjected.
Guzman's mind raced as he tried to piece together what had happened. "Vale. Where's Ander and Omar?" he questioned, his tone serious and firm. “They went to get some drinks, they should be back any minute now.”
“We have to split up and search for her. She must be somewhere in the house,” Carla said, taking charge of the situation. “I’m texting Ander to check the pool and the back yard. Me and Lu will go see if her car is still in the driveway, and you guys head upstairs.”
The group nodded in agreement, and quickly dispersed to search for any signs of you.
Guilt washed over Valerio in waves, threatening to drown him as he imagined the worst. He mentally cursed himself for ever letting you out of his sight, for not being more careful, for not protecting you like he should have.
“Cayetana, have you seen Y/N?” Samuel asked, desperation creeping into his voice. “Si, I saw her and Gabriel going to the attic. She seemed a bit disoriented,” the blonde replied, taking a sip of her drink.
“What? Why didn't you say something earlier?" Guzman snapped, his anger rising at the thought of you being in danger.
"I didn't think anything of it," Cayetana replied defensively, sensing the tension in the air.
“Puta madre!”
Without another word, the three of them raced up to the attic, their hearts pounding in their chests. As they opened the door, they saw you huddled in the corner, shaking with fear. And there, hovering above you, was Gabriel, a sinister smile on his face.
"Ugh, merda. I was just starting to have some fun with your girlfriend."
Guzman and Samuel stepped forward, flanking Valerio on either side as they faced off against Gabriel. Valerio's eyes flashed with anger as he noticed your bruised arms and bloodied shirt. "What the fuck did you do to her, cabron?" he growled, his voice low and menacing.
“I didn’t-” Gabriel didn’t get a chance to reply, as Guzman’s chuckles met with his mouth. “You are gonna pay for this, joder!” he screamed. Gabriel’s feet stumbled, as he held his arms up in defense. “I swear, I didn’t do anything. I was just messing around.”
“Just messing around?” Valerio growled, feeling his blood boiling. “Valerio, por favor,” Samuel whispered, grabbing him before he had the chance to hit him as well. “She needs you.”
Meanwhile, you were still curled up in the corner, shaking violently. You tried resisting the urge to throw up, but the mix of alcohol and the metal taste of blood in your mouth weren’t much help. You cried out, in a desperate attemp to capture someone’s attention, but nobody seemed to had heard you.
You were well aware that Valerio and Guzman would never let Gabriel get away with this. The sounds of fists hitting flesh, the screams of your friends, and the shattering of glass all seemed to blend together into one sickening cacophony. Your heart was racing, and you felt like you were going to pass out any moment.
“Guzman, Valerio, eso es suficiente!” Lu screamed, hurriedly entering the attic. Carla, Ander, Omar and Cayetana followed close behind.
Ander and Carla wasted no time rushing next to you. “Y/N, what happened?” Carla asked. Her voice was slow and steady, but you could tell she was struggling to keep her composure.
You took a deep breath. The air, however, didn’t reach the bottom of your lungs. You felt like you were suffocating.
“Call an ambulance, now!” Ander demanded. And, for the second time tonight, darkness swallowed you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I don’t want you near my sister ever again. You've been nothing but trouble lately, and I don't want her getting caught in the middle of it."
Valerio took a final drag out of his cigarette. "What are you talking about? Tonight wasn’t my fault- I didn’t do anything wrong."
"Maybe not intentionally," Ander replied firmly, "but you've been a bad influence on her."
Valerio sighed. “I guess I don’t have much of a choice, do I? At the end of the day, you never liked me.”
Ander watched as Valerio walked down the hospital corridor, feeling hurt and confused. He had never meant to cause any harm to you, and he couldn’t deny that he felt a deep sense of loss now that he couldn't be near you anymore. He knew that Ander was only looking out for his sister, and he respected that. Maybe someday, you could all be friends again, but for now, he would have to stay away.

Any tips on telling the difference between e7s and e8s ?
weirdly enough I believe E7 and E8 to have allot of similarities.
Lust and Indulgement
Sense for freedom
Assertive
Frustration with attachments
And allot of 7s can look like 8s (Han Solo SP7)
Vice Versa Katherine Pierce SP8 (looking like a SP7)
The 7
However the differences can be seen on how they approach life. The 7 yearns for freedom and pleasure (by pleasure I mean a general enjoyment of life) thats why their biggest problem is Gluttony. They want to enjoy everything at its fullest. Allot 7s imo have a 3 ish material desire BUT unlike the E3 who likes pretty things due to its aesthetic and value, the 7 enjoys them for the joy it brings to them.
Gluttony in the enneagram is an excessive need to consume indulgence.
The 8
Unlike the 7 the 8 doesn't look to enjoy things but rather have a full anatomical control of itself. The 8 tend to have a black and white view of things. They are natural go getters and dont mind being more abrupt about the things they want unlike the 7 who is more calm. Which is why their vice is lust incredibly fitting imo.
Lust in the enneagram is an intense desire to get X not usually sexual in nature but can be.
Characters to contrast them
Elite: Guzman (ESTJ 8w7 sp/sx) vs Christian (ESFP 7w8 sp/sx)
SATC: Miranda (ESTJ 8w9 sp/sx) vs Samantha (ESTP 7w8 sp/sx)
GOT: Cersei Lannister (ESTJ 8w9 sp/sx) vs Tyrion (ENTP 7w8 sp/so)
LOK Korra (ESFP 8w7 so/sx) vs Bolin ( ENFP 7w6 sx/so)
SW: Leia Organa (ENTJ 8w9 so/sp) vs Han (ESTP 7w8 sp/sx)
Inuyasha: Inuyasha (ESTP 8w7 sx/sp) vs Miroku (ENTP 7w6 sx/so)
TBOSAS: Sejanus (ESFP 8w9 so/sx) vs Lucy Gray (ENFP 7w6 sx/so)
Note: Sorry for taking so long to answer college has been difficult to handle due to graduation.
Note #2: I'll try and post unhealthy/ healthy type 6 this week.

For the directors cut ask: do you remember writing not born, but raised? You captured Guzman‘s feelings after Marina‘s death so vividly. Chapter 8 was heartbreaking to me and I’d love to hear anything you have to say about it. Bonus: how you would have written Guzman‘s thoughts/feelings towards Lu at the beginning of season two (you know me 😅)
Man, I'm so glad you asked me about this- it was so fun to write that! If anyone wants to check it out, you can find it here: not born but raised. And if anyone else wants some behind the scenes looks at my fics, just send me the ask!
Apologies for the essay response, but if there's anyone I can respond with loads of words about Elite to, it's you.
I've always used novelizations as a writing practice (it really helps me with body language since I can't visualize), but this was the first time I ever showed anyone. Getting into Guzman's head was everything for me, and I knew if there's anything this boy does, it's deny, deny, deny. And Miguel did such a perfect denial in his first reaction to Marina's death, that I just had to extend it. Listening to the cast reading of the finale was also incredible help, the actors were so attached to their characters! Maria's reaction to Guzman's line of "Because you know if something happens to them, maybe they had it coming.” made me know that had to be such an important line for him. It had to haunt him.
The trickiest thing to me was actually piecing together those interrogation scenes into something reasonable, like an actual flow of conversation. Cause I had transcribed that the whole season long and I rearranged that conversation so many ways to try and make it make sense.
And I do know you! And just to answer your question, I'll give you the opening lines I wrote for the season 2 novelization.
In the rules of geometry, the strongest structures have three sides. In the realm of grief, however, it seems that these rules don’t apply. His parents find support in each other, if not comfort. None of them will ever find comfort again. But the balance of their family, two parents, two children, is disrupted, and they don’t know how to support him.  Lu tries. They have sex that’s supposed to remind him that he’s alive, or at the very least wants to be. She holds him when he ultimately breaks down in his sleep, the thought of Marina’s misshapen head too much for him to bear. For most of the summer, he drinks, though Lu pulls the bottle away from him whenever she can. For that, he loves and hates her hands in equal measure.
So there you have it! Lu and Guzman's relationship is really messy in that I think they are very complacent when they are with each other. Lu is very complicated and smart (I know you know that), but when it comes to trying to get someone to not do something, she tends to stick to her one strategy, verbally lashing out. And while I love the zingers, it's not the best way to get into Guzman's head (since that is also his strategy). So to me, he's grateful to her, he owes his life to her, but I think he ends up resenting her on two opposing fronts- on the one hand, keeping him from the self-destruction he desires, on the other, not being effective enough to actually keep him from that self-destruction.
I actually have episodes/chapters 1 and 2 written out, but I wasn't sure whether I should post it when I'm not sure I can finish the season and the fandom seems pretty dead (let me know if you're still interested lol). But if you wanna see more of Guzman grieving Marina, I have some tearjerkers in there, if I do say so myself.

ELITE UPDATE 2: THREE SEASONS FINISHED
Ookayyy let's go so my first elite (let's say review) was after watching just 4 episodes and forming a holy shit amount of opinions for every character coz boy was I wrong..anyways I just finished 3 seasons of elite!.. like wow can't believe that. so let's talk about it. Firstly I get that this is a murder mystery show but like do we get someone or the other getting killed of in the end or like what? okay first things first I said some wild things about some of my babies and i really wanna retract my statement because these people are my babies.. guzman, lu, omar and ander lord i had absolutely no idea that there characters would be here now, like god! okay nadia and guzman I was shipping it then and I am shipping it now (although they broke up, but fuck that! they're still together for me) yeah, so like, believe me no one I repeat not a single person saw the whole nadia and lu friendship coming , like it literally hit me and I was like wha-
THE throuple ended, some people died and we got our second favorite couple - samuel and carla!! aghhh they were soo cute. love them so much! just fyi if you also love them, then don't see the short stories they literally broke up every single couple in there) now coming back to the elephant in the room- POLO*** jesus but I from a hundred miles away could not even think this was gonna happen, like my 1st update is evidence of that, I was so indifferent towards him coz I just didn't care! he was a sidekick imo but somehow this guy even after MURDERING someone made me feel sympathetic for him!! for a murderer like how did they do that!? Polo's death actually made me cry more than marina's ( never liked her but still). He was going through so much . He was in pain. like watching him struggle through life was insanely difficult and his mom supporting patriarchy after being in a lesbian relationship was another level of rage for me. But boy the guy did have a thing for throuples (I am still wrapping my head around the first one) ooh and newbies-- cayetana ,rebeka ( not sure i spelled it right), valerio (*heart eyes*) oh and emir ( idk if that's the name but carla's rich bf) These people somehow pulled the rug right out of my feet. Valerio was in the headlines in s2 and s3. Firstly s2 the whole thing with lu..ooh but that was a bit (no actually very much) weird. Let's not go there. Yeah and the whole cayetana thing..nicee ( as in story wise not in disrespecting your mother for her work wise) i don't really like her tbh but I have a strong gut feeling that I would eventually end up loving her. I still wanna say sorry to guzman. You're the best srsly. samuel I love you, but what you did to rebeka was wrong. So fuck you ( but like gently) yeah uhm rebeka.. okay so new story and lots of drama *widens eyes* obv I love her like how could anyone NOT love her. She's a total babe. ugh this is getting really long okay yeah so about my future elite plans...? none for now, I feel like s3 ended on a good note for me. And if I am being honest. I dug up a bit and found out that samuel and guzman have some beef over a girl in s4 and I am def not in the mood for seeing there friendship get messed up. So yeah for now it's a goodbye to elite. I feel like there should be one more update coz I missed some major plot points like the whole ander and omar thing, and nadia's dad and yeah lu and party scene but *shrugs* let's see.

So I've been watching elite right? I like the show and I like the characters and I am invested in seeing what happens. But I'm on season 2 and I know we need drama and an easy way to do it is to have a will-they-won't-they and what better way than to have one of them have a girlfriend. But I hate it.
Look I know Lu is a bitch, right? I know she's snobby and she looks down on people but here's the thing. She's never going to be the one to break up with Guzman. As they said she's devoted to him. And, as long as she's with him, she's going to tell herself that she's still got a chance of being the one he chooses to be with in the end, and he never will. And part of her definitely knows that. So I hope she breaks up with him because I honestly do think she deserves better than that. She's trying so hard to be there for him and to be a good girlfriend for a guy who barely even cares about her and sees her as a second choice at best.
Also before anyone says "but she's a bitch, she deserves it". Does she? Because the fact she's a bitch doesn't magically make Guzman or Nadia in the right. They're still doing a shitty thing themselves. Is it too much to ask that he just break up with her before starting his thing with Nadia? Do they not both deserve better than that.
Sorry its just something I've seen often in books and movies of bitchy girl's boyfriend cheats on bitchy girl with main character and its fine because she's a bitch. But, no, you're still cheating, you're still doing something shitty.
I feel like that's also low-key the problem I had with the victorious pilot, specifically Tori and Beck. Yes Jade was a bitch and Tori does deserve to stand up for herself and get revenge. But kissing her boyfriend in front of the entire class? Her boyfriend cheating on her in front of the entire class? All that really did was make me think Jade deserved better than Beck as I grew up. And yes, I consider this cheating. Yes it was a scene, but it was also improv, all made up by them. Beck could've sed let's not, he didn't. And why? To punish his girlfriend? Maybe if your way of punishing your partner is to kiss other people, especially people you know they don't like because they think that person likes you, maybe you just shouldn't date people.
Yes what Jade did, humiliating Tori on her first day was wrong. That doesn't make Tori and Beck choosing to kiss in front of her less wrong itself. Especially in Beck's case because then he'll go on to act like he has no idea why Jade would ever dislike or be jealous of other girls around her. Yes Jade deserves better, yes Lu from Elite deserves better. They're not nice people but at least they're honest about that frome the start.
Plus this becomes a pattern for Tori when she kisses her ex, who happens to be dating Cat, just because she's jealous. She doesn't even want him back. So yeah. This is why , while i don't agree with Jade trying to murder Tori, I can kinda see where she's coming from.
And Lu. Honestly he just needs to break up with her. She will hang on as long as he let's her. She might react badly, but she'll react badly anyway if she catches you cheating. The worst part might be that Lu already knows he likes Nadia but just can't let herself accept that and break up with him. Like she knows she's maybe his second choice but doesn't care as long as she can be with him, but at the same time it's hurting her.
So basically TLDR I hate when someone's bitchiness is used as justification for their partner cheating and used to make it seem like the cheating is ok

So I finished watching Class on Netflix and it has gone to insane lengths to deviate from the og storyline (as much as can be to maintain its status as an adaptation) and there are a few things I liked and few I disliked
Disliked:
The lack of time devoted to explore their relationships. Elite hands down did a better job at delving more into the dynamics of the relationships and thought process of the characters.
One of the meatiest part of Elite formed the Nadia-Guzman-and her family dynamic...which was totally neglected here. Also a key point was the understanding of Polo and his insecurities, Class barely gave any time to Sharan.
So, in short I disliked the way they gave next to no time in exploring the mindset of these characters and how they perceive their relationship with others. It felt more like the creators expected the audience to already know about the characters from Elite and come here just to see a more Indianized version of it. If one sees the show in isolation, a lot of things don't make sense cuz we know so less of the characters and honestly that's the part which was more interesting in Elite.

Elite the Spanish Netflix show is a true tragedy
If you were around during 2018 and early 2020 on YouTube, you have seen the edits and potentially had been equally obsessed as I was with the Spanish Netflix show Elite. Which centres around Spain’s most wealthy high schoolers who experience murder as 3 scholarship students enter their school Las Encinas. A lot of the character arcs and plots directly mirror Shakespeare. While I’m unsure whether or not this is intentional I wanted to point out some solid comparisons between the show and Shakespeare’s body of work. Additionally, I’m vaguely aware of the ideology that almost all modern literature and media throughout the ages follow classics like Shakespeare because we as humans can’t help but draw inspiration from everything and anything we see, read and listen to. However, I find it interesting that each season (the later ones not as much) follows a similar structure and loosely follows a Shakespearean tragic storyline. I would also like to point out that I will only be covering seasons 1-3 because after that the show essentially recycles the same storylines. Therefore I will only be covering the original characters’ story arcs throughout those seasons, characters like Patrick, Ari, Mencía and more will not be covered.
The iconic structure of Elite
The structure of Elite follows a similar one to that of Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. While being a tenuous connection, both flash between the present and the past through the perspective of the central characters. That comparison has no relevance except for pointing out the show structure which I’m aware isn’t unique just to Elite and Death of a Salesman. The season starts with, of course, a crime needing solving. In season one it was Marina’s murder, then in the second Samuel’s fake abduction and finally in the third Polo’s death. As I stated before, each episode delves into the outlooks of different characters, the first ever episode being from the standpoint of the new scholarship students- Samuel, Nadia and Christian. Each is interviewed by ‘Inspectora’ or the inspector in the present and flashing back to the leading up events. What makes this structure so intriguing is the fact that the different perspectives make the entire suspect list unreliable narrators as they all have different versions of their own stories. While the facts are laid out, a lot of the information is withheld from the viewer. Again, I’m aware this is a common trait for all murder mysteries but it’s the combination of tragic features and murder mystery features that is interesting to me. My favourite season, the third, makes a direct reference to this by naming each episode with the character that it is in the perspective of. Allowing every character to become the protagonist of their story, even if they are the killer like Polo. This is because Polo wasn’t the villain, he was just unlucky enough to be another wealthy and entitled Las Encinas student who was never questioned by the adults around him for his violent or malevolent behaviour and lashed out towards Marina. Like how Guzman almost killed the scholarship student who gave Marina HIV. Polo became a victim of his environment and that led to his tragic fall. The point I’m trying to make is that through the structure, each character can play out their Shakespearean tragedies. Some even recreate multiple.
Tragedy and Elite
The most tragic part of Elite is watching the protagonist Samuel Garcia, a naive, loyal and noble character turn into the person he most resents. Marina’s killer. Samuel the show's tragic hero, becomes corrupt with power. As he falls deeper and deeper into high society Spain he takes on Polo’s role as Carla’s boyfriend. In that way, Samuel becomes Macbeth and therefore Marina’s killer. Carla is both a tragic victim and a villain in the same way Polo is a villain. She committed the crime and is therefore a villain yet she still appears as a victim. Though Polo appears to be Macbeth and Carla Lady Macbeth at the surface level, the show structure allows viewers to humanise them in a way that we wouldn’t usually. We’ve grown such a close relationship with everyone that it is hard to see one character as evil and the other as good. This is because we’ve seen every character’s point of humanity and point of inhumanity. Marina is through and through a tragic victim, she is an admirable woman and character, uncorrupt even though she is surrounded by power and she is resilient despite all her misfortunes. Despite all this, she dies from it. Dying from the competitive circumstances wealthy parents put their children in. Regardless, she was two-timing and drove a wedge between two brothers. Now I’m not saying she deserved to die, but in tragedy typically the tragic victim is an entirely innocent woman or character who is collateral damage of the hero’s tragic fall. The fact that Marina is presented as separated from that corrupted part of society she’s so closely connected with but still is in some ways equally evil makes it in my opinion even more tragic. However, perhaps Marina is the modern-day tragic victim who is the manic pixie dream girl. We get to know these characters so intimately that knowing the factual events right at the end makes us question our morals. Learning Marina dies halfway through season 1 begs the question of whether her death makes her past actions excusable. Does that make it right that Samuel later dates Carla? Does that make her a tragic hero if she is flawed? Having every character be flawed takes away from Elite’s classical and traditional aspects of tragedy but in that way creates a modern and personal tragedy that the public can relate to. Arthur Miller wrote on the topic of tragedy in his essay called ‘Tragedy and the Common Man’, “That the tragic mode is archaic, fit only for the very highly placed, kings or the kingly… I believe that the common man is apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were”. So to combine that idea with the supposed elites of Spain, humanising them further contributes to this idea. Making tragedy relatable, is the modern version of Shakespearean and Greek tragedy. Additionally, the protagonist of the tragedy Samuel, is a common man who is noble but corrupted by power leading to his tragic demise later on in the series when he dies. Just like Macbeth. However, Polo is the one who follows Macbeth’s arc scripturally and mentally.
Elite and Romeo and Juliet
It is given that multiple characters in a show about the working class meeting the disgustingly rich in their cushy private school will follow the Romeo and Juliet tale. The ones that come to mind first are Samuel and Marina, Guzman acting as Marina’s overbearing bitter father- Capulet. The two struggle through forbidden love, Marina a child of wealthy and influential parents and Samuel a poor scholarship student. Their love is similarly kept secret like Romeo and Juliet when they get married in secret and their love causes their tragic demise. Marina dies in part because of their love- or more her love for his brother as she steals Carla’s father’s watch to run away with Nano. When Marina dies, a part of Samuel dies. That part of him that is oblivious to the black hole that is wealth and the consequences that come from it and being surrounded by it. By season two, Samuel is a far more angry and vengeful person, rid of the passive and kind person he once was. Evident in his later relationship with Carla. You could also argue that Nano is Marina’s Romeo too in a similar way to Samuel but represents a darker and more complicated love that further escalates Samuel’s transformation. He loses not only a part of himself but also a section of his support system- his brother Nano.
Another example is Ander and Omar who share more of a similar conflicting worlds to Romeo and Juliet. Omar’s religious parents cannot accept his sexuality and Ander’s father cannot accept that through his love for Omar, he mustered up the courage to tell him he doesn’t like tennis and additionally does not fit the hyper-masculine jock perspective that his father has of him. What’s interesting about their relationship is that Ander isn’t from a wealthy family like the other Las Encinas kids- his mother is just the principal. That being said he is certainly meant to be wealthier than the scholarship kids however this makes it so that the conflict within Omar and Ander’s relationship is not about wider social status disparities but because of conflicting families. Mirroring Romeo and Juliet’s tragic circumstances. Through Omar’s parents, a more nuanced and complex version of Romeo and Juliet is explored through homosexuality and what that factor means to people like sportsmen and the elite.
Being Omar’s sister, Nadia shares an equal problem with him. Except Nadia and Guzman are truly two conflicting families and two conflicting worlds. They are emblematic of the Romeo and Juliet story in Elite. Guzman is immediately not accepted by Nadia’s father as a white and entitled man and Nadia is immediately not accepted by Guzman’s world as she is forced to conform to it to be with him as a Muslim woman. Though the show rather ignorantly presents her transformation of losing her faith as being rather liberating I see it more as her being sucked into the vacuum of wealth just like Samuel. Losing the true, good and noble aspects of themselves. In letting go of her religion, she lets go of herself and her identity and morphs into the one expected of Guzman’s white and cutthroat world. Guzman however does not die metaphorically or literally at the hands of their love, perhaps he loses a part of himself through his sister's death. The only thing their love does for him is humble him, and make him more of a likeable and grounded person. Possibly in this way, the arrogant and entitled element of him dies for his benefit.
Elite and Othello
The writers of 'Elite' exhibit a disturbing and almost perverse obsession with threesomes and throuples as a continuous plot point. It is unsurprising, then, that the homoerotic trio of Othello is mirrored in multiple characters. That trio is Desdemona, Othello and Iago. The most obvious being Carla, Polo and Christian. Polo early on in season 1 takes on the role of Iago, controlling and almost obsessing over this pornographic image of the fair lady being dominated by the rougher and more oppressed male ‘soldier’. Though Polo and Carla start as the initial relationship, Carla and Christian form a far more emotional and true relationship within their trio. Whereas Polo seems more sexually obsessed with the two, in a similarly confused homosocial way Iago had towards Othello and an equal obsession with the Madonna being adulterated into the whore like Desdemona. Both Christian and Carla are brought to their tragic falls by Polo’s corruption, Carla being made accomplice albeit by her own choice and Christian again losing that same part Samuel lost when he joined Las Encinas. Additionally falling further by trying to speak up and gain his lost self back but is hospitalised by Carla’s father and bribed into silence by offering to pay for his surgery in Switzerland. Further succumbing to the power of wealth which he can no longer escape. Additionally both of them through their tragic blindness fall because of Polo’s corruption just as Othello and Desdemona fall because of Iago’s Machiavellianism.
To take Iago out of the equation, the Garcia brothers and Marina share a similar story to Cassio, Desdemona and Othello. Marina and Samuel act as Othello and Desdemona, both infatuated with each other or rather the stereotype they represent. Samuel represents the opposite of Elite society Marina is trying to escape and Marina represents the world Samuel is trying to enter and be accepted by. Therefore their relationship shares the same superficiality as Desdemona and Othello’s relationship as Othello values Desdemona as a prize of being a desirable and pure white woman and she values Othello as a masculine and dominating black general. This equal fetishisation is reflected in Marina and Samuel. Nano comes in as Cassio almost, another working-class man infatuated by Marina’s wild spirit and wealth just as Cassio is another nobleman mesmerised by Desdemona’s beauty and purity. However, he differs from Cassio’s character as he genuinely did have an affair with the other guy’s woman. Either way, they all cause each other's tragic demise: Marina’s death, Samuel’s metamorphosis and Nano’s banishment (being accused of killing Marina and then fleeing the country).
Lu takes control of her ‘play’ in a similar way to Iago. Manipulating Guzman into trying to seduce Nadia and take her virginity- she does this out of pure jealousy and maliciousness just like Iago. What’s more, as I stated before Iago has a perverse obsession with the virtuous woman becoming ‘tainted’ and Lu finding intrigue in the Muslim woman going against her faith and acting out of pure lust echoes this. Perhaps she even shares the same homoerotic obsession with Iago. She therefore exploits those around her to try and cause Nadia’s demise, in this way Nadia is Othello and Guzman Desdemona. She is an outsider because of her race and religion and Lu’s obsession with that fact is reminiscent of Iago’s fixation with Othello’s race. She also discards her Muslim values to fit in with the predominantly white environment of Las Encinas. Just as Othello denounces his Ottoman heritage and religion and takes on the image of a model Christian man.
Elite and Macbeth
Perhaps the writers were aiming for more of a Bonnie and Clyde feel for Polo and Carla but what I see more is Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. This parallel is drawn because Polo kills Marina, and Carla helps cover it up for him before she is consumed by guilt and edges towards letting herself become an accessory to murder and telling the police the truth. When Christian’s pre- Las Encinas self is consumed by the corruption of the wealthy he is similar to Banquo’s ghost haunting the school hallways and Carla and Polo. As they watch him become a shell of the enthusiastic and lively person he once was. This is the main drive for Carla to want to confess, she wants to be free of her guilt towards Christian. Not because she killed him directly but because they formed such a personal relationship within their three-man couple she feels a responsibility for Christian’s corruption of becoming an accessory to their crime. This feeling is solidified further when Carla’s father hospitalises and bribes Christian and directly hobbles him both mentally and physically permanently. The guilt Polo feels towards Marina is also a similar personal responsibility to Duncan and Macbeth as Marina is his best friend's sister. Therefore Polo is Macbeth, Carla Lady Macbeth and Marina Duncan.
A less obvious version of this tragedy would be Samuel and Carla as I said before when stepping into Carla’s bed he steps into Polo’s role of Macbeth. I think this idea is confirmed in season 3 when Polo dies, and in that way, Polo sort of becomes Duncan for Samuel in a more tenuous and complicated way. Samuel takes his kingly position as the sexual partner of the wealthy and beautiful Marquise. While Lu is Polo’s killer I think Samuel is the one who truly finishes off Polo as he leads the plot to collectively cover up his murder. Therefore not allowing him justice because of Polo’s past crimes and taking his girlfriend he kills Polo and steals his throne. Additionally, Marina is presented as Banquo in Samuel and Carla’s relationship as her ghost haunts him, especially at the beginning of his pursuit of Carla. Though initially he intended to find justice for her he ended up being just as bad as the rest of them. He initially is consumed by guilt with his infatuation for Carla but kind of has an opposite transformation to Macbeth because he changes from being extremely weak-minded to being very strong-willed. His transgression is him having the confidence and power of a wealthy man while still being working-class. That being said Carla and Samuel are my favourite relationships in the show because of how complex yet passionate their relationship truly is.

I warned y’all abt the nostalgia 😂 @dhyanshiva said Bring it on, and here we are lol. Elite had many extremely shippable characters and whatever you can say abt the writing, they did GREAT w the chemistry casting. I mean, more than one of these couples ended up together irl for a while. But this is abt the characters, not the actors! Choose wisely
Every vote matters! Literally. I don’t have that many followers and the fandom is small, so yours might be the only vote for your fav ship 🤣

Heyy love your account. Would love your take on Veer and Sabe from Class. What does she like about him? What romantic scene do you want to see them do in season 2? Hope you can answer. Lots of love - Ann
Wow where to even start? Chaos meets grace is probably the jist of them isn’t it? We all know opposites attract and it’s always a hook point in many shows but it’s done so well in Class. There’s tropes all over the place but it’s all the ones we love and the chemistry just flows seamlessly. I love loved LOVED Guzman and Nadia in Elite so I was not expecting to love Veer and Saba so much but I did ! Granted they’re not as fleshed out as the Spanish counterpart but just the show is so desi, the local music vibes and characters who are so relatable and real and who we as kids have seen around us, kind of makes Class much closer to my heart than Elite will ever be. It’s darker and more nuanced. The color palette, the cinematography, it’s just so unique and it just adds layers to the show and couples as a whole. While Guzman and Nadia date on fairytale streets of Spain, Veer and saba have dates in the junkyard surrounded by mud, demolition, reconstruction, public eyes and scrutiny and if that’s not symbolic of their uncertain future I don’t know what is.
Lol I guess saba sees in Veer what we all see in him. The subversion of expectations from someone like him. He’s an asshole with everyone else but with her he’s soft, gentle, caring. He’s an entitled brat but he’s also apparently a gentleman? Who won’t take advantage of a situation. That touches her. His genuine concern for the well being of his trouble maker sister. Saba, as we know, can relate lol. Faruq is a handful too. The way Veer fucks up massively but then has the courage to publicly apologize. He’s confronted her dad twice , once to apologize and once to fight her case to stay in school. A girls gotta melt at that. Him not resting until he has her apology. Despite failing many times lol. His self insight that comes slow but does come eventually lol. His determination to do better despite his self destructive tendencies. He’s a work in progress for sure, but there’s a lot of lovable things about him. His loyalty and protectiveness another one. The list goes on… which is probably why he has that ugly temper. Coz otherwise Veer is basically a privileged arrogant teddy bear tbh lol.
Nadia and Guzman had so many great moments in season 2 ugh. The first time she dresses up at the club and he can’t keep his eyes off of her. Their first kiss. Their first time ahem ahem… that locker room scene? Lol if that happens in Class I would just die ❤️👌 But one of my favorite moments is also which comes later when Guzman tries to help out Nadia and gets employed with his dad to pitch in the workload so Nadia can study lol. Imagine Veer working for Saba’s dad so saba gets more time to study lol. Wouldn’t that be a treat to watch ! Haha. Also jealous Guzman was *chef’s kiss* so I bet Veer can do it even better if given the chance. That would be so so fun to watch.
Thanks for asking ! I’m obsessed with this show and them :) What about you? What would you like to see with them?

just finished cla$$, here are some of my final thoughts
carla/christian/polo (koel/balli/sahran) were done so fucking dirty, both in the relationship between the characters, and the characters themselves. they’re all awful and the dynamic was awful and it really bummed me out
along with that, all but one (can you guess which one?) of the dynamics between the characters in general kind of sucked. it didn’t feel like ANY of them even liked each other, as friends, as lovers, anything, except for dhruv and faruq (that was the one, ik ur shocked)
actually veer and dhruv (guzman and ander) did have a couple small moments that i liked, they were okay, but other than a couple private interactions just the two of them, it didn’t seem like they were friends? that was kind of a big issue with all of the dynamics, actually. they’d only interact privately, but none of them ever seemed to be a collective group? it was like they all knew each other from separately, but didn’t like, idk, all go to school and grow up together, it was weird
idk much about indian culture tbh, so idk if some of the character changes were sort of to align with that, but a lot of them just seemed like they only changed things to make them different from the origin story, but they were changes that were kind of important to the characters’ backstories
(like who decided to make sahran’s parents heterosexual, i just wanna talk)
& veer not being adopted, coming from where he did, when that’s kind of an important part of guzman’s story/reasoning for his actions/etc. imo
instead of these characters being like, scared, impulsive kids, a lot of them are just straight up monsters, purposefully hurting people when that’s not what happened in the original story, and i hated that
lu/sara (because that’s what she was, they fully just combined those two for some reason) was so fucking awful and cringy and i hated every time she was on screen. lucrecia montesinos sweetie i am so sorry
basically, the story is interesting because elite season one is interesting, but honestly like... just go rewatch that tbh
the only reason worth checking it out imo is for dhruv and faruq, but i’m planning on making a little scene pack of all their things (both as a pairing and individually, though the majority of the limited screentime those two get is as a paring) , so if any of you are interested in that, please let me know and i’ll dm you the link once i get it all put together <3

as much as I absolutely loved Patrick’s character (toxic characters who evolve over time?? my favorite trope), I wish Elite would’ve ended after season 3. It would’ve been such a golden show. But now that we’re approaching season 7, they have LITERALLY lost the plot, like no joke. Season 4 was an absolute disaster. I actually did like the introduction of the three siblings, but how they incorporated them into the stories of the other main characters was so messy…don’t even get me started on how they assassinated Guzman’s ENTIRE character development with the introduction of Ari…ugh. Season 5 was okay, but largely due to Patrick and Ivan. And I don’t even wanna talk about season 6. I’m so torn because I wish it would’ve ended after season 3, but then we never would’ve gotten Manu/Patrick, and then Patrick and Ivan for that matter. But then also, maybe my life would actually know peace instead of now constantly longing for what could have been between Ivan and Patrick… there was NO closure. s2g I’m gonna be thinking about how the writers did us so wrong on my deathbed and my last words will be cursing Carlos Montero’s entire bloodline !!!
It's crazy because I was in this exact roller coaster wreck with you. With literally the same thoughts. I took a while to answer this because I wanted to keep this in my inbox. It's like I'm reading from inside my brain. Anyway, fuck Elite. They can burn for all I care. ☺🔪
