"I can't believe him sometimes." Lucrecia sighed dramatically as she swirled a glass of champagne, carefully watching the way (Y/N) engaged with Cayetana. She laughed along with whatever he said, hands touching on his arms and neck with a coy smile. It made Carla's blood boil.

They weren't serious. They couldn't be. For the sake of Polo, her ex and his brother. Their relationship had been simple at one point. A light-hearted rivalry filled with banter and teasing, even after Polo stained his hands with the blood of Marina. Then, it changed due to one too many drinks and poor decision making. (Y/N) wanted things to be normal, Carla needed things to change.

Lucrecia suddenly laughed and slapped her hand over her maroon-colored lips, eyes crinkling with amusement. "I just realized she looks like you, Carla." She giggled and Carla's jaw clenched.

"I thought she was your friend, Lu. Or are you only using her for status like you always do?" Carla spat and the amusement vanished off Lucrecia's face. The blonde turned on her heel and tossed her purse aside on the booth, steely eyes turning back to the two by the bar.

"Carla?" Lucrecia called questioningly but she ignored her, striding down the stairs and crossing through the dancefloor. Cayetana smiled widely at (Y/N) and she laughed, hand moving to rest on his forearm. Her eyes moved to look at Carla and immediately widened, retracting her hand faster than lightning. Carla only had to arch a brow for Cayetana to bid him goodbye and go the other way.

"Carlita," (Y/N) sighed and leaned back against the bar, turning to look at her in mild annoyance. She took Cayetana's spot and eyed the drink she'd ordered.

"We need to talk."

"We had this conversation already. Polo fucked up big time and it's taken a toll on him. He drinks more, acts more reckless. If he finds out I slept with his ex, who know what'll do to him. You and I are friends and that's that."

"Maybe I don’t wanna be just friends with you. Maybe I want you to stop revolving your life around what Polo wants. He's not a baby anymore, (Y/N)."

"You're right, he's not a baby. He's a murderer who hasn't been caught and forgive me if I don't want him to lose his shit again and hurt someone else. Marina lost her life 'cause she chose to sleep with a thief and 'cause Polo loves you so much he wanted to make you happy."

Carla's throat tightened, gaze turning to search for Polo's figure among the crowd. "I didn't ask him to get the watch back." She murmured.

"It doesn't matter, Carla. He did it for you regardless. I'm thankful you... you helped him. But if you want anything more than friendship, I'm not sticking around."
