It was always weird when you got to meet your ex’s new partner. Penelope Ford could attest to that. There were times when she had been the new girlfriend, meeting the women she had replaced. Most of the time it was as a taunt, her boyfriends showing their exes how they had upgraded. A part of her would always feel selfish, feel bad for the old girlfriends, but she always knew there was a reason. Penelope knew she was beautiful. Her long blonde hair always laid loose on her shoulders. Her icy blue eyes always popped because she wore makeup that complimented both her features and her outfits. Penelope also knew she was talented. She sang vocals for her band, a female pop-punk group called Bubblegum Ambition, but she was also a guitar player. She loved music more than she loved most people, including her former boyfriend Joey Janella. The duo had often played the same festivals, Penelope with her girls and Joey with his band Air Raid Crash. It was a good relationship until Bubblegum Ambition had become more and more popular, getting more attention than Air Raid Crash. The two had started arguing more and more until they realized they were better off as friends. That’s why Penelope had agreed to be the other woman in the situation, the woman meeting the new girlfriend. The little beachside club was nice, nicer than anything Penelope had expected for someone Joey was dating. Penelope glanced around the nice décor, the music being played by the woman at the piano jazzy and upbeat. Again, it wasn’t something that Penelope had expected, nor did she expect the cute woman playing the piano. “Miss? You wouldn’t happen to know where Joey Janella is, would you?” Penelope questioned as she took a spot on a chair near the piano. The brunette glanced over at Penelope and the blonde took a deep breath. She was stunning. Not in a modern sense, but as a classical beauty. This woman was stunning in the way that Monroe or Davis were stunning. Her chocolate brown eyes seemed to stare through Penelope’s soul. “Oh! My Joey isn’t here. I’m Delilah.” Penelope gave a soft sigh. Her Joey. This was the new woman. Was this how she had made so many people feel in the past? “Oh…well…I should go then. Can you…” “He’s not the one who called you. I was,” Delilah smiled, “You’re the lead singer of your own band, right? Bubblegum Ambition?” Penelope cocked her head to the side, intrigued. She felt like this could be a trap, but Delilah didn’t seem like the type, “Yeah, I sing for Bubblegum Ambition. Play the guitar too. And you? You obviously play piano. Are you in a band?” “Oh no, no. I’m a swinger,” Delilah dismissed with a giggle. Penelope was glad she didn’t have anything in her mouth or she would have choked. Maybe Joey’s new girl wasn’t as innocent as she thought. “Uh…swinger? What’s a swinger?” Penelope couldn’t help but notice how Delilah seemed to turn a soft shade of pink. “Oh no! I’m not a…well…I didn’t mean it like that. I play swing music! Ellington, Armstrong. That kind of thing.” “Takes talent to do that, baby girl,” Penelope grinned, “bet you have it in spades. But…if that’s your music, why call me?” “I…well…I was thinking maybe…” Delilah hesitated, running a hand over the back of her neck, “maybe I could play with you.”

CDTA updates

after thinking on it, i've decided to do as many others have done and turn CDTA into an original story. however, given how much certain events in cdta intertwined with canon tmc, this change in direction is going to require significant rewrites to fill the gaps left behind. at the same time, most of the major story beats (e.g. the leg yoinking, the Nightmare Sand Pit arc, the blood magic in the church etc.) and characterization will stay the same, so i'm still planning on working on the sequel & the 2011 character designs before anything else.

to efficiently bridge the gap, i'm turning CDTA's neocities page into a hub for all the lore changes, so everyone can get caught up before i put out the first chapter of the sequel.

@wistfulweaverwoman has an AMAZING breakdown of Peeta's first and last name and the symbolism behind it. Please go read that post. I'm kind of obsessed with it.

Suzanne pays attention to where names come from, so for THG and her other series, The Underland Chronicles, fanfic authors have guidance in where to get names. For THG, Capitol gets their names from Latin/Roman influence. The Districts largely get theirs from their industry (Wiress, Thresh, Cashmere, Bobbin, Tanner, Reaper, etc.). District 2 seems to follow the Capitol with Latin/Roman influences (Cato, Sejanus, Marcus, etc.). The Covey get theirs from a name in a ballad and a color (which is explained in TBOSAS).

For District 12, quite a few Seam characters get their name from nature (Katniss, Gale, Primrose, Posy, Hazelle, Lil short for Lily, Spruce), while it's been my headcanon that the merchants get theirs from derivatives of Biblical names. I always associate Peeta with Peter before pita bread, Delly=Delilah, Madge=Margaret, Maysilee/Mayfair=Mary and though they're Seam, Sae=Sarah/Sariah, Thom=Thomas.

Long, long, long time ago before Peeta's brothers had the fanon names Rye and (some other bread-related name) I used the names Jam and Jonah to make them...Peter, James, and John. This was before Mockingjay released and I'd been hoping his brothers would live and they'd have a role in the rebellion, making the trio comparison apt. I'm still attached to these names though, even if his brothers didn't really do anything. Also in the now-deleted fic I wrote of Mr. and Mrs. Everdeen getting together, I named Mrs. Everdeen Ruth, after the Ruth in the Bible that left her family and people to live and care for her mother-in-law after her husband died. The story reminded me of Mrs. Everdeen leaving her family to marry Mr. Everdeen. I don't think anyone else has this more Biblically-oriented view of the townies of D12's names. And it could just be that a lot of English names are derived from Biblical names as it is and I'm stretching. But merchants do have a distinct lack of nature names in comparison to those from the Seam so I think there's something making their names distinct. A way of showing another divide between the two cultures in D12.

Lilah has always been observant and aware of her surroundings, even as a child she could recall details about places she'd been and people she'd met briefly.

Lilah is a coffee connoisseur. She has a deep appreciation for coffee and considers it an essential part of her daily routine. While she has her favorite roasts, bean type, and variety of order, when it comes down to it, she's not picky. Coffee is coffee and bad coffee is better than no coffee.

Lilah does not have a lot of dating experience. Once her father died, she closed herself off for a few years, and then turned her focus on the job. She takes great pride in her work and has never regretted her choice.

Lilah generally enjoys detective shows but she can't figure out if she likes the shows or just critiquing them and pointing out errors or ways the detective could have done something differently.

Summary: Delilah Lightwood, daughter of Cecily and Gabriel Lightwood, has spent her whole life wanting to be something more than she was born to be. As a Shadowhunter, Delilah's path was written for her before she was even born. However, Delilah wants to to more with her life, prove that Shadowhunters can do more than their legacy written in the history books.

At seventeen years old, Delilah follows in the footsteps of her older sister, Anna. She doesn't necessarily conform to typical societal standards. Drinking away at Downworlder parties, pursuing the artistic career she wants to make for herself, normally attending these alongside herself and her sister, is Matthew Fairchild.

Matthew Fairchild. Someone Delilah had been close with since the academy and someone she shares a special bond with. Not a romance. Not a parabatai bond like Matthew and James share. Their bond is different, a type of bond that cannot be explained.

With Cordelia Carstairs arriving in London, Delilah is delighted, wanting to get to know the girl more. However with the arrival of The Carstairs family comes the Blackthorn family, leaving one James Herondale pining over the mysterious Grace Blackthorn.

BEARCREEK'S ANNUAL FOUNDERS DAY EVENT 2.0

WHAT: Celebration of when the town was founded WHEN: 10am - 4pm WHERE: Main Street, Hummel Tires & Lube

Come join us for the annual Bearcreek Founders Day, celebrating the town as well as your local community and small businesses! The entirety of Main Street will be shut down as vendors of all kinds (crafts, food, drinks) will be set up all along it for the festivities, as well as a few food trucks.
