Rewatching LOST, and I gotta say, I don’t think this show gets enough credit for how socially aware it is (in some ways, and considering the time it was created!) Take Sayid for example. Sayid is a man originally from Iraq, who served in the Republican Guard. LOST started in 2004, just a few years after 9/11, and, considering it’s a show about a plane crash, it was bold for LOST to tackle the discrimination that anyone of middle eastern descent might face in the U.S.A. The majority of the survivors are white people with English as their native language. Some of them are wary initially about Sayid after learning about his time in the Republican Guard. Sawyer even accuses him of being a terrorist, and cites how Sayid was pulled aside by TSA (his intention is to use this as evidence to back up his claim, but he’s really just proving the discrimination against people from the Middle East). However, Sayid proves to be one of the most caring, patient, and genuine characters on the show. Like many citizens of any nation who join any military force, Sayid had good intentions, and got more and more tangled in the complicated, morally questionable (to say the least) web of war. He escaped, and felt immense guilt for his involvement in both sides of the war (he ended up also helping the Americans, after they convinced his to interrogate and torture his own commanding officer). During his time on the island, he is generally a helpful, benevolent man. Ultimately, his past doesn’t matter - and neither does anyone else’s. They’re all on the same team once they crash on the island. And then there’s the other bold choice - to have him romantically involved with a blonde, white woman (Shannon). Having an Iraqi man and a white, American woman as a couple on TV in 2004 was groundbreaking. I don’t think Sayid as a character, or Naveen Andrews as an actor, gets enough credit.

THE WATERFRONT: Production/Release Updates

Inspired by true events, The Waterfront dives into the story of the flawed Buckley family as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling Beaufort, North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat. PRODUCTION OVERVIEW Development of the series began in January/February 2024. Netflix ordered the series to production in May. Pre-production on the series began in June in Wilmington, North Carolina. Casting occurred in August and September. Filming began in late August/early September at Cinespace Studios and around the Wilmington and Southport area. A call for local extras of all ages and ethnicities was announced for work opportunities from September 4th to mid-December. Filming ended on December 18, 2024 in Wilmington. The first season is confirmed to have 8 episodes. No release date has been announced but the series is expected to premiere in 2025.

Hello and welcome to my 2023 reading wrap up! A big Thank You to everyone who followed my ramblings throughout the year! <3 I will continue through 2024. Maybe I'll learn how to write proper reviews, at least I'll try to remember better what I actually want to say about the stories. In 2022, I read 93 books plus my own. Guess how many it were in 2023? 93 plus my own!! xD That was huge coincidence and I love it. Of these 94 books, 4 are rereads (which won't be included in the "Favourite" sections), 2 are non-fiction, 11 are non-queer. I only DNFed 1 book (which is not pictured) and other than that I only disliked 6 books! (And it's a pretty soft dislike in comparison. I don't hate them nearly enough to want to shit on them again. :'D).

Most Used Name: I counted names last year and didn't want to do it again this year because I read so much fantasy, so the names were all over. Still, there was one who stood out amongst them all with at least 4 instances, if not more. Probably more.

Congratulations. I have to admit, I've always liked that name. My favourite character of all times and part of my one and only OTP is named Will as well and I kinda hope the last book of their second trilogy never comes because it will probably make me scream and ... ...

Bonus! This year, I counted pages! Because I felt that most books were much shorter than what I read before. So I wanted to know. Turns out, my feeling was wrong. My 93 books had a whole of 33011 pages which results in approximately 350 pages per book. That's pretty normal I dare say.

That's it for 2023! I had a very good year in books. I wanted to read less actually, and failed spectacularly because I had too much fun. And if anyone's wondering how I read so much, I read fast and I just didn't do anything else in my free time. Escapism to the max. I hope, the new year treats you well! any role in six has been a dream since i was 13! so why not dream bigger and want to cover ALL SIX!

since every queen is so diverse, i wanna have the chance to express myself in them all because honestly that would be phenomenal

in case i must reassure you, i actually can sing. and six the musical is my favorite to sing on occasion so i’m prepared

could i play this role?: in a couple years with a little experience under my belt maybe! super swings are becoming less and less of a need in theater so i’m not sure but one can hope
